matt's sitting at the edge of the bed, hands gripping the sheets so tightly his knuckles are white. his chest rises and falls in shallow breaths, and he’s trying so hard to keep his cool, but it’s not working.

"you’re shaking," you tease softly, kneeling between his legs, your hands resting lightly on his thighs. pulling his sweats down as you look up at him.

"i’m not," he argues, but his voice wavers, betraying him. he glances down at you, his cheeks flushed, his lips slightly parted as he tries to figure out what to do with himself.

"relax, matt," you murmur, after having pulled his boxers down to his mid thighs, the cold air hitting his skin making him shudder. "just let me take care of you."

his jaw tightens, his eyes fluttering shut for a moment as he exhales shakily. "i don’t-i mean, i’ve never-"

"i know," you cut in gently, leaning in closer, your breath ghosting over his skin. "just tell me if it’s too much, okay?"

he nods quickly, his hands twitching against the sheets, unsure where to put them. the tension in his body is almost palpable, but when your lips press against his skin, soft and warm, his whole body jolts like he’s been shocked.

"oh, fuck," he breathes out, his head falling back as his grip on the bed tightens.

you smile against him, your movements slow and deliberate, giving him time to adjust. his reactions are unfiltered- every gasp, every shaky exhale, every quiet whimper spills out of him like he can’t hold them back.

"you’re so sensitive," you murmur, looking up at him. his face is a picture of vulnerability: eyes squeezed shut, brows furrowed, his lips parted as soft, broken moans escape.

"i can’t-" he stammers, his voice barely above a whisper, his hips shifting involuntarily. "it’s, oh god, too much—"

but he doesn’t stop you. he doesn’t pull away. instead, his hands leave the sheets and find your hair, trembling fingers threading through it, unsure if he’s guiding you closer or holding on for dear life.

"you’re doing so good," you reassure him, your voice steady and calm, even as his breaths grow more erratic.

he lets out a choked moan, his thighs trembling under your touch. "i can’t—i’m gonna—"

you don’t stop, your pace steady, hands and lips wrapped around his length, coaxing him toward the edge. his whole body tenses, his hands tightening in your hair as his voice breaks into a desperate, breathy whimper. his hips involuntarily bucking up, in rythm with each movement of your hands.

when he finally lets go, it’s like every ounce of tension leaves him at once. his body goes slack, his chest heaving as he struggles to catch his breath, his head lolling forward to look at you through half-lidded eyes.

"holy shit," he murmurs, voice shaky, a dazed, almost shy smile creeping onto his flushed face.

Been a really long time since I've watched Daredevil but I do remember coming away from it feeling like it presented a pretty compelling internally-consistent moral justification for the vigilante thing. You're not planet-crackingly powerful, it's just that you can hear, in detail, every awful thing your neighbors are doing to each other, every night that they're doing it. You can't not know and you can't pretend not to know and when the kid tells you the next day that he just fell down the stairs you can't fall back on the provided ambiguity to absolve yourself of your responsibility to act. Basically, I don't think there's going to be an announcement that Tumblr is getting shut down. If the pattern we're seeing holds, I don't even think it's going to happen intentionally. I think Tumblr is going to go out like an early 2000s forum: they're just going to keep cutting the tech support budget until something goes wrong in a way that none of the remaining skeleton crew know how to repair, which could be tomorrow or three years from now. If it does happen, it's probably going to happen completely at random, so there's no point stressing out!

YOU'D BEEN FEELING IT ALL DAY—this dull ache in your chest that only seemed to grow as the hours ticked by. matt had been busy, caught up with work calls, emails, and running errands. you didn’t want to bother him, not when he was clearly swamped, but the longer you went without his attention, the poutier you became.

you tried to keep busy yourself-cleaning up around the apartment, scrolling through your phone, even attempting to start a new book. but none of it worked. every time you heard his voice from the other room or saw him breeze past you with a distracted smile, the little ache tugged harder.

by the time the sun had set, you were curled up on the couch, your knees tucked to your chest as you mindlessly flipped through channels. matt finally emerged from the office, rubbing the back of his neck as he let out a tired sigh.

“hey, babe,” he called softly, but you barely glanced up, too caught up in your pouty little cloud to give him more than a quiet hum in response.

it didn’t take long for him to notice something was off. he frowned, crossing the room to stand in front of you. “what’s wrong?”

“nothing,” you mumbled, hugging your knees tighter.

he crouched down in front of you, his hands resting gently on your knees. “hey, don’t do that,” he said softly, his voice laced with concern. “talk to me. what’s going on?”

your eyes darted away, feeling silly now that he was paying attention to you. “you’ve just been… busy today,” you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. “and i didn’t want to bother you, but i missed you.”

his expression softened instantly, guilt flashing across his features. “oh, baby,” he murmured, leaning forward to press a kiss to your forehead. “i’m so sorry. i didn’t mean to make you feel like that.”

“it’s okay,” you said quickly, though your voice still carried that little pout. “i know you had a lot to do.”

he shook his head, standing up and tugging you gently to your feet. “no, it’s not okay. i should’ve made time for you.” wrapping his arms around you, he pulled you close, his chin resting on top of your head. “let me make it up to you?”

you tilted your head back to look at him, your pout softening ever so slightly. “how?”

“how about we grab a blanket and put on one of your favorite movies?” he suggested, his hands running soothingly up and down your back.

your lips twitched into the beginnings of a smile. “you’d do that? even though you don’t like 'em?”

“i’d watch anything if it means i get to hold you,” he said with a smirk, earning a quiet laugh from you.

and true to his word, matt spent the rest of the night glued to your side, his arms wrapped around you as you snuggled into his chest. the tv flickered with the soft glow of the movie, but neither of you paid much attention, too busy basking in the quiet comfort of each other’s presence.

as the movie played, matt kept sneaking little kisses-on your forehead, your temple, your cheek, until you were giggling softly against his chest. his hand idly played with the hem of your sweater, his fingers brushing against your skin in a way that sent tiny shivers down your spine.

“see?” he murmured, his lips brushing your hair. “this is way better than anything i had planned today.”

you settled into his arms, a content sigh escaping you as the movie continued to play in the background. the world outside seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you wrapped up in each other, a perfect ending to a not so perfect day.
