Ohhhh we are going to Have A Problem at work tomorrow and it's basically entirely my fault!!!!

We are in the process of transferring to redacted software which I pushed for because it's the best option and our current one is as old as I am. I was under the impression that it did this one specific thing (in addition to all its core functions), turns out, it ONLY does that specific thing if 1) you pay a lot of extra money or 2) host it locally and not thru the manufacturer/company (not happening in this workplace given v limited IT resources). There is no other alternative program that maintains this level of functionality, at this price, with relatively little staff maintenance (aside from my position) (so really it's not ENTIRELY my fault, even had I not been mistaken, there isn't any feasible alternatives out there given the limitations put on budget and manpower)

So now it's like. Well. The core functionality is certainly there still, and tbh I don't think we even NEED this function, imo. It's not standard for literally ANYONE in the field, not the govt, not big unis, no one. There are work arounds, just less convenient and more time consuming. And REALLY it's not crucial, my boss only thinks it's crucial because she's very attached to this 20+ yr old system, and things here are done in a very, imo, slapdash manner, and not according to current best practice and strict procedure adherence. If we functioned like a proper archive and not Like This, doing touchy feely bullshit instead of like. Actual archival work. This wouldn't even be a problem.

AND ofc bc I'm computer literate and she is mostly not, I am going to be trying to explain all this in a way that is going to be difficult to get the bare concepts across, let alone what the actual issue is

AHHHHH the girl who gave me her lipstick when I was at that party weeks ago, she invited me over to her place tonight to go swimming in her "giant pool under the stars" and I’m like,,, baffled bc I only spoke to her for barely 5 minutes at the party I can't believe she asked her family to invite me over again, for something that isn't princess-acting related. LIKE WHAT HELLO WAIT WHAT. she's got these fancy cannolis she wants me to try!!! it took me a hot minute just to try to type the word cannolis!!!! How do I eat in front of rich people without making a fool of myself, do they have fancy forks???? what do we even talk about???? they're MINI CANNOLIS barely the size of my thumb, am i supposed to bite into them daintily or am I supposed to shove the whole thing in my mouth to prevent risk of crumb explosion and then chew as fast as possible so I can answer when they ask me a question like "so keri what do you do for fun" and then I have to say something anything other than "oh I draw and watch cartoons except I haven't done that in several months because I'm Going Through Something Right Now" like what am I supposed to say I enjoy?? I love spongebob so much he's like 50% of my personality??? I used to draw myself kissing robots and sometimes even get paid for it??? pasta is such a weird texture for me so i rarely eat pasta unless if its fettuccini from olive garden of all places bc that's the only type of pasta i've been able to tolerate, WHAT IF I CAN'T EAT THE PASTA LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN PERSON? feeling like it might be about time for another update to my failboat design. especially if he does get new glasses

dont expect any super major changes, usually when i do a design update i just tweak a couple things based on new info, like if there's a branding change (ex. hoodie changed to button-up shirt), a change in his actual appearance (glasses, facial hair, eventually his PHYSICAL BUILD???), or if i just personally notice smth about him i didnt before (like i did for his eyebrows once), or i just make a change i think looks better, like small adjustments to his hair.

this time around, i dont really have anything in mind that i personally want to change just for sake of modification, but maybe other than his glasses (if that happens) and his build (when that happens) i might actually design a few different outfit choices for me to use other than the standard white button-up and black pants w the yellow stripe. but idk, does anyone else have ideas for changes i could try? guy's gone through a lot of updates in my art style over the 6 years i've drawn him lol
