There's a viral video circulating from the Fort Worth Zoo, of two keepers who ended up in a habitat at the same time as a silverback gorilla. Spoiler for good news: neither the humans nor the gorilla got hurt. It's a bad situation that ended extremely well, and that's why I want to talk about it.
The audio for this video is mostly someone praying loudly, so if you need to turn the audio off to watch it, you won't miss anything relevant. If you don't want to watch it, here's the summary: it starts with a keeper running around the corner into the main exhibit, pursued by a large male gorilla. She is quickly able to get into a doorway at the back of the exhibit, but does not completely close the door because the gorilla is standing across from her, watching. He eventually moves off to the right hand side of the exhibit, where we can see a keeper is trapped in the corner at the front. She was trying to move towards the exit as he moved to the right, and she stops, standing very still behind a tree, while he stays along the far right wall. They stay like that for a minute, and then the gorilla runs to the front right corner, and the keeper is able to run to the door in the back of the exhibit and get to safety.
Let's start with basic information. Even though it's just going viral now, this video is from October of 2023. It was taken not by a guest, but by the zoo security officer responding to the situation. Hmmm, seems like he maybe should have been doing something else during that situation, instead of than taking a phone video. It's going viral now because the guy (who is no longer employed at the zoo) decided to post it on TikTok for his five minutes of fame. This guy immediately started giving all sorts of media interviews, answering questions like "why no tranquilizers" inappropriately, making memes out of his own video, generally distasteful shit.
Zoo spokesperson Avery Elander gave a public statement that "thankfully, there was no physical contact between keepers and gorilla, and all staff and animals are safe." A comment from the zoo has also indicated that the incident was due to keeper error. (As opposed to, for instance, something in the fencing breaking.) According to the guy who posted the video, a lock was left unsecured and the gorilla was able to open the door to the habitat. I don't know if I buy it, and again, this just... is probably why he doesn't have a job anymore. By sharing that detail - real or not - he places a ton of public scrutiny and blame on that keeper team. (If that's what happened, I can promise you it will have been dealt with internally.) He also was nice enough to say he wouldn't name the women in the video... but verified they're still staffers at the zoo... which means they're eminently identifiable! Excuse me while I ragequit for a second.
So there's two reasons I wanted to talk about this. The first is to make sure it is well known that this guy is purposefully and intentionally exploiting the worst day of someone's life for media attention. Their lives were in danger, and he's using it for fame. His name is in the media articles - I'm not going to share it because he doesn't deserve that attention. The second reason, though, is because this video is a masterclass on how to survive if you end up sharing space with a gorilla. Every zoo person I've spoken to or seen comment on the video is so, so impressed with how the keepers handled themselves.
The gorilla in this video is 34-year-old Elmo. All apes in AZA zoos are managed in protected contact, so keepers are supposed to be separated from them by a barrier at all times. The zookeepers were in the habitat putting out a mid-day meal when he got out. Watching the video, you can see he's not actively being aggressive towards them - he's not making threat displays or trying to approach them. Mostly, Elmo seems like he doesn't know what is going on and he's kinda freaked out about it. (This is confirmed in the zoo's press statement, too). The staff stayed calm, and importantly, watched and waited to see how he'd move and act.
The zoo did say one thing, though, that's a bit misleading. In one article, their press person I quote as saying “In general, gorillas are considered the “gentle giants” of the great ape species.” Just because this may be true in comparison to other great ape species doesn't meant gorilla aren't still incredibly dangerous. This type of messaging always worries me, because I think it leads people to misunderstand the risks of being close to megafauna. Gorilla are extremely strong animals, and their social norms/behaviors are very different from that of humans. That's why it's such a big deal any time people end up in gorilla habitats, and why sometimes in those circumstances lethal measures have to be taken to protect human life.
These keepers are incredibly lucky to be unharmed. These women stayed safe specifically because they're trained professionals who knew how to act around gorilla, they knew this particular animal well, and they'd learned the escapes from the exhibit just in case this ever happened. We should applaud them for their cool heads and quick thinking.
As for the guy who posted the video? As a colleague put it, may he always step on a Lego.

art donaldson x reader headcanons ( both young and dilf art.. ) both banners by me!
Tumblr media
starting off strong with young art ( heheh )
i feel like y'all met for a goofy reason
either he asked you for a piece of gum in a class because he ran out
that boy NEEDS his gum he can't live without it ( oral fixation? idk )
OR he saw you on the tennis court when you were meeting up with a friend of yours
you had heard of him of course, he had won the one tournament with his friend
but,, he sadly had his eyes on tashi duncan, not that you could exactly blame him, you've seen her - all lean muscle and tan skin.
that is until tashi starts dating patrick
he's kinda like a kicked puppy , a very jealous one
he's desperate to get his mind off of them, so he finds you
you're perfect for him, you're sweet, pretty, kind. but you're also pliable.
art's seen the way you'd look at him with those pretty eyes when he asked you a question, the way you would slightly stumble over your words
he would wanna laugh sometimes, not in a mean way, more of a 'how cute..' kinda way, yk?
he's a mastermind,, maybe manipulative but that just makes it better
he taps your shoulder one day and is like "hey so would you like,, wanna go out sometime?"
now you thought that he was just gonna ask for help with the assignment, but this- this was unexpected, but good. really good.
you obviously say yes & it goes great! after a couple dates you two start something that resembles a relationship
art is a sweetheart, buying you gifts, treating you to dinner when he can, taking you to his games - model boyfriend!
he loves being romantic and spending quality time with you
also double dates with tashi & patrick ( tension )
you notice the way patrick looks at art and you suspect something. had something happened between them?
you had heard about how tightly-knit the two of them were and something just didn't seem right
so after the date and you two go back to the dorm or wherever y'all are staying you ask him what was up with him and patrick
art shuts down, not saying anything and goes completely silent.
he's not one to talk about things like these or his past
art likes to talk as much as he loves to listen
like if you found a new interest and/or hyperfixation he would listen to you and find so endearing
he loves the way you get so excited and you just beam at him whenever you do something that makes you happy, it makes him just as equally happy
art also loves when you wear his clothes, he finds it funny how they drape over you since he's like six foot.
art does like being praised ( take that as you will ) but when you're reassuring him, especially after his games or practice or anything he just wants to shower you with all the affection he can muster <3
Tumblr media
this is my late fathers day present to y'all.. enjoy
ah yes, art as a father, my favorite
he's not married at this point ( sadly no tashi, they got divorced )
he's a lot more tired than he was back in college, obviously
y'all definitely met at some sort of event, you were a reporter for a sports magazine who had sent you to cover whatever it was that you were there for
you just didn't know it would involve art
when you first see him, you didn't really know what to expect - but not this
art with his short-cropped sandy hair and pretty blue eyes and blonde lashes, he looks ethereal, almost like he doesn't belong here
he was distracted most of the interview, too distracted by you with your sweet voice and nice hands and silly questions
so you two rescheduled, over dinner! win-win, you get to spend more time with him and you get your job done
the two of you connect really easily and you agree to do this again, without the interview part
there's something about the two of you thats so entrancing to each other
IMAGINE WITH AN AGE DIFFERENCE
like you're 21 - 22 and he's like 32.. it only makes him crave you more, he can show you things you've never seen
you might be a bit skeptical, but art is telling you that you can trust him, he won't push boundaries, none of that and you do trust him
he does let you meet lily eventually and when you do, you're enamored with her, she's so sweet and you could see art in her
you knew about his past relationship with tashi, but you didn't mind
but older!art is also romantic, sure the paparazzi is interested in the two of you - so most of the dates are at home. he likes it better that way
ough,, this was a LOT - late father's day present yk.. i love you guys - enjoy this! like and follow if you enjoyed these hehe

Things that happen at work:
Got hired by a trucking company doing admin to safety stuff.
My new boss, in the interview: I’d love to have you start on *specific date* so that we can do the on boarding stuff, but we’re going to have the Driver Appreciation BBQ literally the day after and I want everyone to meet you.
Me: That’s honestly a good plan. I’m completely available for whatever happens, what time do I need to be there?
My actual second day of being hired and going through the whole set up of Driver Appreciation BBQ Day:
*chopped four onions for burgers and sobbed in the break room*
My boss: *lightly supervises but is honestly a Party Queen because she’s a Hispanic mom and is used to throwing parties for 100 plus people in her own backyard let alone a work bbq, you don’t even understand she literally looked at the corporate list of supplies and was like “nah, too much. Mmm. Maybe. Hm. Not enough.” AND WAS EXACTLY RIGHT she owns her own bouncy house, she’s got this shit on lockdown, ok?
So like two hours into this polite bullshit introductory hell scape (I am fine with meeting new people in large groups but I hate meeting people in “sterile corporate” settings, like, if I’m going to remember you, it’s because you did something actually meaningful or interesting, NOT because you shook my hand for five seconds and said you go by Steve or Becky…)
Me, to EVERYONE because my job is to Hand Out Shirts and Lunchboxes: Hi! I’m the new girl from Safety! Who are you exactly? Please don’t expect me to remember you, I’m terrible at putting names and faces together, but I’m sure we’ll talk again soon! What size T-shirt do you want? Here’s your lunch box!
Me: *finally gets a break and sits down to eat some honestly decent brauts and potato salad, deliberately choosing to sit next to one of the drivers that’s been at the company for a while* Hi, how’s it going? I’m the new safety girl!
Older driver whose name I don’t know YET: I’m doin’ pretty good with all this free food. So, you gonna stick around after the little one comes along, or are you gonna leave us high and dry like the last one?
Me, honestly pretty angry but trying to be cool: Not pregnant, just fat.
*very very very awkward silence, like this dude knew that he fucked up, but also the way my body is shaped I really don’t blame him for thinking what he did*
He did actually apologize right then and there, and honestly the entire way he went about everything was from a genuinely good place, and I personally thought it was funny after it was all said and done. Verbal on the spot forgiveness type stuff.
Guess who fucks up the very next day by UNINTENTIONALLY losing a very important document of the exact driver who “insulted” me?
Yeah. So. I spent my entire first week on a brand new job searching through three giant filing cabinets and 20 years worth of documents for ONE fucking medical card. I didn’t find it. Believe me, I looked at every single piece of paper in those cabinets, I have no fucking clue where I put it.
The driver was really nice about it and we had a good laugh about him putting his foot in his mouth and me swearing up and down I didn’t do it for revenge.
Honestly I have no idea how any of this will turn out, but every one seems nice so far so I’m really hopeful.

mm cast interview
characters: grayson donohue, kennedy rose, alex colwell, kelsey montgomery, nora, callie, demetri renfied
words: 1969
**unedited//you guys ever watch kitchen nightmares?**
Hello and welcome to the very long-awaited character interview! I'm your host, Alli, and I have with me today the cast of Mirror Mine!
Kelsey: They know what's going on; let's speed this up a bit, shall we?
(Grayson nudges her and she rolls her eyes but holds her tongue.)
I suppose we should just jump into it! I'll start with Kelsey, since she seems to have volunteered herself. First question; what made you become a detective?
Kelsey: (shrug) Why does anyone? To help those unable to help themselves. To bring justice to those who need it most.
How noble of you! And what were your impressions of the other cast members?
Kelsey: (she tilts her head to the side and hums) Gray was still a rookie when I first met him; I thought he was a total idiot that couldn't tell his arse from his elbow. But he's since grown on me and (eye roll) is actually quite competent and good at his job.
Grayson: (grinning) Thanks, Kels.
Kelsey: Yeah, whatever. Nora, I adore; she made me feel warm and welcome immediately. And she makes the best ratatouille I've ever tasted. I don't interact a lot with Callie, but they seem alright. Alex is way too happy-go-lucky for my liking but to each their own. And I like Kennedy; she seems to be the only one with her head screwed on straight.
And what about Demetri?
Kelsey: (deadpan) I said all I have to say.
Well... alright then! My next question is for Nora; how did it feel to raise two children on your own? Is there anything you would've changed?
Nora: It wasn't easy... those first couple of years were especially difficult. It was like suddenly not having any legs to stand on, I lost my balance a couple of times. But I'm so proud of who they grew up to be and I wouldn't have changed anything. Well, (dark chuckle) except maybe having my husband around.
(Demetri shifts in his seat, his eyes on the floor.)
Is there a specific memory that you'd consider to be your favourite?
Nora: Oh, there are just so many... (pause) I think if I had to choose, it would be Callie's first Christmas. Demetri and I had decided to keep the celebration small instead of inviting our family over, so it was just the four of us. MC was so excited to help Cal unwrap their presents that they didn't even care about their own. We spent the day in our pyjamas, let the kids watch cartoons and play with their new toys... it was the perfect day.
Demetri, would you say that's your favourite memory too?
Demetri: Like Nora said, there are too many to choose from but... that was a really good one.
But it's not your favourite. (He shakes his head.) And if you had to choose?
Demetri: The day I married Nora.
(Nora looks away to the floor and chews on the inside of her cheek.)
Let's move on, shall we? Alex! What is it about Grayson that makes u tease him so much?
Alex: (grinning) He just makes it so easy. He's a walking treasure trove of material.
(Grayson crosses his arms over his chest and grumbles quietly to himself.)
Alex: See what I mean?
Why did you choose paediatric surgery?
Alex: Well, I like children and I like helping people; so, when I realised I could do both, it was an easy choice to make.
But surely that must make things worse when things go wrong?
Alex: (serious) Of course; it's always really difficult to lose a patient but I understand that sometimes there's simply nothing that can done, even if you've done everything in your power to make it not so. A lot of doctors struggle with blaming themselves when things go wrong and I used to too, but I've learned that I can't let myself get swept up in my grief or my next patient might suffer too.
I like that; I think that makes you a great doctor. Now on a lighter note: what made you like MC in high school?
Alex: (with a surprised laugh) Oh, I... don't actually know. I just remember thinking that I needed to talk to them and get to know them, you know? And after our first date, I just wanted more and more.
And how did it feel when you broke up the first time?
Alex: Oof, not great. I was an idiot to let them believe I didn't care for them as much I did - as much as I still do - and that's one of my biggest regrets. I was so relieved when they agreed to get back together; I'd felt like I'd been drowning without them but as soon as they were by my side, I could breathe again.
That's so romantic! I think my next few questions will be for Grayson!
Grayson: (with a nervous smile) I'm ready.
What was the hardest thing for you when MC disappeared?
Callie: (scoff) Jeez, Alli; don't hold back.
(Nora shushes Callie.)
Grayson: (after clearing his throat) You mean besides losing my best friend? I guess losing MC meant losing myself in a way. For so long I'd seen us as me and MC that when it was suddenly just me, I didn't really know how to act anymore. I don't think I'll ever be the same person I was ten years ago.
(Kelsey reaches out to rub his back and he gives her a tight-lipped smile.)
That must've been tough. We've talked quite a bit about the past and favourite memories; do you have one of the MC?
Grayson: My fourteenth birthday. I was supposed to spend it with my dad, but he had to work so MC did everything they could to cheer me up. I think about that day a lot whenever I need a smile.
And how did you realise that you were in love with them?
(He blinks in surprise but quickly regains his composure, his face red.)
Grayson: I guess when I started to look forward to seeing them every day. I'd wake up thinking about them, wondering what we'd do and talk about, and even if the day was objectively bad, I'd say it was good because I got to spend it with them.
I'll go easy on you for this last one: what's it like being a detective? Do you enjoy it as much as you think you would've enjoyed business?
Grayson: It's definitely... interesting. It's a lot more paperwork than I ever thought it would be, which is less than fun.
(Kelsey stifles a laugh and he cracks a smile at her reaction.)
Grayson: (cont.) But overall, I enjoy it; it's a lot different than business, that's for sure. As for whether I'd have enjoyed business more if I stayed... I'll never know for sure, but something tells me I made the right choice.
So mysterious... Let's pivot over to Kennedy!
Kennedy: (imitating Grayson) I'm ready.
(The cast laughs and Grayson does his best to hide a smile behind a look of annoyance.)
What made you choose teaching as a profession?
Kennedy: I always loved learning new things, no matter the subject so going to school every day was really exciting for me, unlike every other child alive, I'm sure. But one of the things that made it so great were the teachers who dedicated their lives to imparting their wisdom and knowledge. I wanted to have that same kind of impact.
And what do you like most about teaching?
Kennedy: Probably seeing that impact in action. (Smiling) So many students come in and out of my classroom and I love knowing that I had a hand, or even just a pinky finger, in getting them where they want to be in life.
On the subject of students... do you have a favourite?
Kennedy: (with a stifled laugh) What kind of teacher would I be if I answered that question?
So that's a 'yes'?
(She makes a gesture of sealing her lips.)
Okay, how about my next question; what do you look for in a partner?
(She thinks for a moment before nodding decisively)
Kennedy: All the usual things; patience, kindness, a sense of humour... someone who I can spend the whole day with without having to say a word in order to be comfortable or show my love for them. Someone I can trust wholeheartedly to catch me when I fall, to lead me when I can't see.
Do you think you've met such a person yet?
Kennedy: (with a wistful smile) Possibly.
Alright, don't tell me... I've got some questions for Callie.
Callie: Hit me.
What's your favourite thing on the menu at the restaurant?
Callie: That mom makes? I'd kill a man for her calzone. But if we're talking about my personally curated dessert menu; I simply can't choose, they're all perfect. (Beat) With that being said, I always recommend the beignets to anyone who'll listen.
Good to know... did you always want to be a pastry chef?
Callie: (shrug) Guess so. I did get forklift certified a couple years back but there's just something about baking that kept pulling me back.
Alex: I think the something you're looking for is that baked goods are delicious.
Callie: (nodding) That'll do it.
My next question is a bit of a hard hitter... what is one thing you've always wanted to say to MC but never did?
Callie: My favourite colour is sage green.
(Nora nudges them, giving them a meaning look and they roll their eyes before crossing their arms over their chest and looking at the floor.)
Callie: Fine, I guess... I don't want to you to hate me. I know I wasn't the best sibling to you, especially those few years before you disappeared, I wasn't very nice, but I didn't mean it. (They take a deep breath.) For a while I was jealous of you... you had more friends than I ever did, you were better at a lot of things than me, you knew dad a lot longer than me... I thought it was unfair, but it was even more unfair for me to take it out on you even though it wasn't your fault. Then you disappeared and I was just so angry at myself for wasting so much of our time together resenting you -
(They're cut off by a choked sob and Nora quickly wraps her arms around them.)
Callie: (crying) I'm sorry, MC; please don't hate me.
They don't hate you, Cal; I can promise you that. (Beat) To wrap everything up, my last few questions are for Demetri.
Demetri: This should be fun... let's hear it then.
First question: what is wrong with you?
(He snorts, hiding his laughter behind a fist.)
Demetri: How much time do you have?
Evidently, not enough... next question: why did you leave your family ten years ago?
Demetri: (with a sad smile) You know I can't answer that.
I had to ask. I suppose I'll settle for the next best thing: do you regret leaving?
Demetri: Yes, it was the worst decision I've ever had to make.
Knowing how everything turned out, would you do it again if given the choice?
(Nora watches him with tears in her eyes and he turns his head to look at her and Callie, an unreadable look on his face.)
Demetri: Yes. (He looks away and Nora squeezes her eyes shut causing tears to slip down her face.) There's nothing I'd change either.
Well; this has all been very... enlightening. Thank you so much for joining me today and thank you to everyone who sent in questions. Couldn't have done it without you! And now, as they say in the biz; it's Christmas, let's go home!

Can you make a ficlet about nanny Mikasa taking care of widower Eren's youngest son?
sure can! eren's working from home but he can't watch the kids so that's where nannykasa comes in! for context: max is his eldest son and leo is his youngest. max is 6 and leo is 2.
The Jaeger boys were by no means easy, but Mikasa adored them anyway. Thankfully, Max had started school so he would be gone till the mid-afternoon. Mikasa smiled as she sat on the floor of the nursery, watching little Leo pick up a toy.
"What color is that dinosaur?" Mikasa asked, gently.
"Gween!" the boy squealed happily.
"Very good!" Mikasa clapped, causing the child to beam. "Just like your eyes!"
The boy started to growl and roar as he imagined a dinosaur would but Mikasa motioned at him to be quiet.
"Shh, daddy is working, you don't want to disturb him do you?"
The little boy shook his head and offered Mikasa another one of his dinosaurs. He was good at listening and never had to be told more than once what to do. So, maybe he was a little easier than his brother but it didn't matter.
She enjoyed the time she spent with this family. She'd been fresh out of college when she found this job from a job posting. It was a young widower with two boys, aged 5 and 18 months needing a nanny. She didn't think she had a chance considering the family and how competitive it probably would be. The interview went well enough, she thought. Eren Jaeger wasn't an easy man to talk to or interview with. His whole demeanor was just intense though she couldn't really blame him in that instance. He liked her enough to give her the job and over a year later, she was still their live in nanny.
She adored this family and maybe it was a little unprofessional but she started to think of them as her family. After all, she was raising them.
And little Leo liked to show off. When he was done playing with his dinosaurs, he made sure she watched as he placed his toys back in the toy box.
He started playing with his trucks and Mikasa gently reminded him not to make so much noise.
The thing about the terrible twos were that he had so much energy but he tired himself out very easily. He rubbed his eyes.
"Sleepy?"
"Nooooo," he said.
"Hmm, I think you are. Time for a nap."
He wanted to protest but when Mikasa scooped him up, he didn't bother. He was sound asleep when she reached his room and tucked him into the sheets. She kissed the top of his head.
Through the whole thing, she felt a presence behind her.
"Yes, Mr. Jaeger?" she asked, quietly. "I'm sorry, I was just setting Leo down."
The man leaned against the door frame. Since he was working from home, he hadn't bothered changing out of his t-shirt or pajamas. He hadn't bothered to shave either. His muscular arts were on full display and Mikasa had to mentally slap herself to make herself behave.
Sure he was hot, but he was her employer!
"You do a good job with him," he told her. And he gave her one of his rare smiles. She might've melted if she had less control. "But no, I didn't need anything. There's still time before Max gets off school, would you like to have lunch with me?"
Lately, he'd been asking her to eat with him or stopped to chat with her whenever he could. Again, Eren Jaeger wasn't an easy person to get to know but he seemed to relax around her.
"I would love to."
She might've imagined it, but there was a slight red tinge to his cheeks as he turned around and headed down to the kitchen...

from the first episode of the show it's obvious that they are showing that Daniel is suspicious, you know with his first sort of lack of reaction to his father's death, to little things he says like "my mum" then "our mum", the banged up car, not finding out who the company's are and then needing money (and his bloody coat, maybe he's hiding something in there) ofc the show is throwing us of, when I first watched the episode I wasn't paying attention to the other characters because I was just thinking what is Daniel up to (and why is rob James collier so good looking) but I've been thinking about who the murderer could've been, it could've been the wife, the best friend, or any of the siblings or ex boyfriends, or it could be a situation where they all helped to kill the dad, and they all had their own motives. But I completely agree with you on your other post, all of them or some of them have drinking problems. Part of me feels like the murder wasn't a 1 man job tho.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright guys, just for the sake of saving myself some time and people's dashes from being flooded I'mma answer all of these at once and under a read-more, hopefully that's cool. Plus, I'd probably answer them all fairly similarly and a read-more may be for the best in case anyone out there doesn't want any spoilers/speculation.
I've definitely seen a few people now speculating that there could be more than one person responsible for their father's death. And it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility. I lean away from it being all three siblings (but still could be two of them or a nonsibling involved) for a few reasons though.
First, I really don't think Daniel did it. Like one of you said, I believe we're supposed to the suspicious of him but based on a few things I just don't think it was him. I felt like his reaction to finding his father's body was more of an "oh shit, who is going to bail me out now" mixed with a bit of shock, most likely. RJC said in an interview that Daniel is quite selfish, has used his father his entire life, and has taken from the family pot on the regular. Someone else hypothesized on Discord that the accounts their father has been sending money to could very well be Daniel's and I think it's a great catch and probably likely based on RJC's quote and the fact that Daniel was quick to take those papers and offer to figure it out...while never actually doing so. If his father has been bailing him out on the regular, I don't see someone jumping to murder for more money, especially since getting an inheritance can take a long time to be sorted. Daniel really has no motive, his father was worth more to him alive than dead, and even if he'd learned of the will change, I'd definitely hold off on killing him if I needed the money asap (which Daniel clearly does).
Could it still be him? Sure. But I really hope it isn't because that just seems too easy and also nonsensical at the same time to me. I think most of his behavior can be blamed on how he's scrambling now without his financial safety net.
Which leaves Chloe and Sian for the siblings and Chloe is still sus af to me. Why was she cleaning? I feel like these small details are usually added in for very specific reasons, they're supposed to be anyway, so I wonder if 'ol girl needs to remove some evidence. 👀 And if by some chance I'm right, then I really, really don't think Daniel is in on it because he was the one to ask her why she was doing it. Plus, like I said earlier, she's just too quiet but her eyes are so knowing. Mind you, they're all supposed to have secrets according to the official plot so perhaps I'm reading too much into this girl's poor face. 😂
I still don't know what to make of Sian. She seems more detached than the others but that's just how some people grieve. Could also be a red flag. Maybe the ladies teamed up and took out dear Dad for some reason. 😅
I do really like the idea that there are clues hidden in the home videos and that sinister things were accidentally captured. The creeper in the caravan I'm still clueless on, none of the characters introduced so far seem the sort to hide out in creepy caravans, except perhaps the father's ex-best-friend. I do wonder if the caravan scenes could perhaps be on a different timeline that we need to catch up to though and in that case it could be one of the siblings or well...anyone, still.
I'm reminding myself of the fact that this is a mini series, so it's all got to be summed up in only three more episodes which seems like a lofty goal to me. But I will say the pacing on this show has been amazingly executed so far, it definitely feels like there's zero filler (although I wouldn't object to Daniel related filler) which is also why I think every tiny detail is placed there for a very specific reason. Their time is so very limited, I don't see anyone wasting time on throw away scenes or even lines. As mentioned above, even the music choice seems exceptionally intentional, more so than most shows, so I'm just going to continue to assume everything is being said or done for a reason until I'm proven wrong. 😂
Maybe we're all wrong and the dad killed himself because he was tired of these damn kids. 🤪

vro0m’s rewatch - 164.2/310
2015 US GP
Part 2 of the US GP review : the podium and the postrace interviews.
Tumblr media
On the podium, Lewis seems very happy. I don't know why but it's not sinking in for me? It seems like any other win lol. Lewis signs himself.
Tumblr media
Then he touch Seb’s back as always, puts a hand on Nico's shoulder and says a few words to him. Nico is not even trying to not look utterly pissed. I can't blame him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seb doesn't even have time to set down his trophy before Lewis starts spraying him with champagne.
Tumblr media
Paddy pours Nico's champagne down his race suit while Nico turns his back to the crowd and looks down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't spoil Lewis' mood though. He's ecstatic now!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sir Elton John is leading the interviews, weirdly. He's wearing a black and gold Adidas tracksuit which is. A choice. For a podium. Lewis says he can't believe he's here. "It's Elton John !"
Tumblr media
He thanks the crowd for being here and standing in the rain, he hopes they put on a good show for them today. He can't find the right words to say how it feels. He couldn't have done it without this team that really took him on board. "I love you guys, thank you so much for everything you do for me." And to his family at home, they're watching. And teamLH, "Still I rise."
Nico is laconic. He's very disappointed, he doesn't know what happened. He thanks the crowd as well. He reiterates he’s disappointed. No word about Lewis, who's talking with Seb.
Tumblr media
Seb started 14th and finished 3rd. He says being that fast gives him hope for what's to come. But it doesn't feel great when you cross the line and know you can't fight for the championship anymore. He congratulates Lewis who's done a superb job all year, congratulations to his team, but they're getting close and hopefully they can fight them next year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"And Lewis, celebrations tonight?" Elton John says. "Are you throwing a party?" he answers. "I'm gonna party, I'm playing tonight later…" – "I'm gonna be there," Lewis says. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
The crowd chants his name until he lifts off his trophy to them. Lewis, Paddy and Elton take a photo together.
Tumblr media
Niki says it's very good they have another 3 times world champion. "Can't complain!" He says it was the best race ever to watch. Ted says he must have thought at some point it wouldn't get done today or even maybe that they wouldn't win the race. He says he was most worried about Seb passing Nico and the whole thing being delayed. Everybody did a very good job, the whole team, which is the most important. What does he think of Lewis' achievement? Does he think he can get better from there? "No, he's only as good as I am, " he says, deadpan. Then he laughs. "I'm joking. Three world championships! He will get better and win more, I don't worry !"
Toto is very happy as well. They're blasting music in the garage. He says Lewis deserves the title for sure, he was brilliant in his driving, he also was lucky the car didn't let him down this season. Nico was a little bit less lucky. It was a bit of a difficult one today for Nico so they need to build him up again over the next couple of days but next year, new rules, and he'll give it another go. Simon is handed the trophy. He says he hasn't had a word with Nico yet. They need to keep the balance right within the team "so it's always between headteacher, psychologist, father, brother, team boss." Simon asks why they didn't pit Lewis during that second safety car. He says it's because they would have had to stack them which means losing time. They weren't sure if it was the right call. There were a lot of marginal calls during the race. Simon asks if he has a message for the people back in the factories. Toto sets down his glass of champagne, grabs the trophy, and says "Yes I have a message, this is yours, you've won it!"
We see the F1 world champions standings. It goes like this at this point :
Michael Schumacher 7
Juan Manuel Fangio 5
Alain prost 4
Sebastian Vettel 4
Jack Brabham (literally never heard his name before?!) 3
Jackie Stewart 3
Niki Lauda 3
Nelson Piquet 3
Ayrton Senna 3
Lewis Hamilton 3
Simon says "Of course the great, the legendary Michael Schumacher still way out in front… But then again, Lewis AND Sebastian Vettel have got plenty more years in them yet." Indeed.
Lewis was asked if it was a dream come true in his press conference. He says he's overwhelmed at the moment. His first British championship, his dad and he drove home singing "we are the champions". He says he owes it all to his dad and family who supported him all these years and sacrificed so much for him to be here, and the positive energy he gets from his fans. He realises that while he gets to enjoy driving a Formula 1 it's really a platform he can use to inspire young people and he hopes that they got from today to never give up on their dreams and hopes and to keep working at it. There were many points he thought he'd lost the race but not for one second he believed he couldn't do it. Nico drove a fantastic race, he's been driving fantastically well. "So mad respect for him as my teammate." He calls it a humbling experience especially to equal Ayrton Senna who meant so much to him and still does today. He smiles. He feels very very blessed.
While they start asking questions to Nico, Lewis hides his eyes behind his hand. He's emotional.
Tumblr media
Then he says something to Seb with a smile but Seb barely reacts.
Tumblr media
Nico says he got wheelspin which never ever happened to him before even in testing (that’s not true they complained of it several times during starts). They need to look into it later but it was obviously really really tough to lose the lead and the win like that, because he was feeling really good at that point. "And turn one… Yeah for sure was very aggressive… Pfff…" He's literally pouting and sulking. "What am I gonna say you know? You've seen it again, I haven't seen it you know so how the hell– I can't comment yet. I need to see it as always. You know for sure it was extremely aggressive. We hit each other. Well I would say Lewis came into me. So… Obviously that's not good but." The camera pans out to a larger angle. Lewis is frozen beside him with a poker face. Seb is frowning.
Back to the broadcast, Paddy is wearing a world champion shirt and a Pirelli cowboy hat. "I'm not built to Texas scale," he jokes as he demonstrates the hat being way too big for his head. Paddy says it means a lot to him personally because he's worked with Lewis throughout his career and he's been there for his three championships. He's not trying to claim any credit because it's a huge team working for it.
Hill picks up on him saying Nico and Lewis are a good pairing for a team. He asks what Nico brings that makes him work well with Lewis in that aspect. Paddy says it's because they have such different characters but are equally able to get the very best out of the car and push each other. He says it's underestimated how important of a factor that is in a team. The two drivers pull each other up on a bad day, because every driver has a bad day, and they need a reference from the other side of the garage. It's fantastic having these two guys because they're both really top of their game. He doesn't think Lewis could have gotten where he's gotten in the last two years without Nico on the other side of the garage. That's a genuinely interesting point of view.
They show him the start and when they touched. Paddy says although he didn't study it in detail, Lewis came on the radio and said he didn't mean to do that. He still calls it a tough manoeuvre to throw on a teammate, legal or not, and he suspects he had way less grip than he needed.
Then they ask him why they didn't pit him. He says the right call was to pit during the VSC and they did so with the leading car. Stacking the cars would have caused issues to the second car which is why they didn't pit Lewis. They agree Kvyat crashing was a turning point and the race might have gone differently if he hadn't, although Nico really lost when he went wide.
He says it's a tough day for Nico, but he'll bounce back. Johnny also asks if he thinks we've seen the best of Lewis Hamilton (l-m-a-o) and Paddy says with much nuance "we're seeing the best" and then he adds "as we go on." He further explains that that year was his best performance but who knows where the limit is, because he might do even better the next year. Hill asks about Lewis getting more comfortable with the team. Paddy says he thinks getting a second title the previous year he "became much more at home with himself" and relaxed into the job.
Tumblr media
Oh and we're actually gonna hear more from Lewis! He says he feels very relaxed right now, overdue a drink with the team, but he's buzzing and has a hard time putting it into words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He says it's the greatest feeling he's felt in his life. He can't believe it and it was such a fun race! He describes it, ups and downs, Nico being 10 seconds ahead at some point and then he came back with strength. He says he never gave up. He talks straight to the camera. He hopes he made his mom proud, his dad, Linda, Nick, his sisters, his aunties, all his family, team LH, he hopes he made them all proud and he loves them all and is thankful for all the support all these years.
Tumblr media
He reiterates there wasn't one second of the race he didn't believe he couldn't do it. He's interrupted by some woman to whom he smiles wide and who comes to kiss him on the cheek.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"From one three world champion to another three world champion (sic)", she says. I think it's Jackie Stewart's wife? She tells him well done and he thanks her and says it's good to see her.
Rachel asks Lewis what Jackie Stewart told him. Lewis says firstly it was great to have him come over and he's such a great champion. It's a great feeling being congratulated by him. He said he remembered how it felt for him and it must be doubly great for him. Lewis says he doesn't know why he said that but he doesn't think anyone can feel as good as he does right now. "I just wanna dance, but I can't!" he chuckles.
Tumblr media
Lmaoooo Lewis please. Grow up. She asks him such a great question and he gets so defensive. "You've been pushed by your teammate, how much of your success can you put down to having someone who challenges you so much in the same team?" He stops smiling.
Tumblr media
He stutters. He says it's a difficult question. He doesn't think it's a large chunk of it. "It's really down to my guys, my group, the whole team obviously working together and myself as a driver, it's just work that I do on my own," he continues to stutter. "I never really leant on someone else to pull me along the way, you know, I just had to try and find it myself." And that's really what he had to do today, he says, and he gets back to the race and changes subject. He really had to improve his own driving while he was out there (I just wanna note here that along the way this year he got into the habit of saying whilst instead of while and it throws me off everytime it sounds so weird.) to be able to compete with Nico. He was destabilised by the question at first but he's found his footing again now as he’s answering so he says of course it's great to have a teammate that's pushing and helping the development of the car.
Rachel says "please tell me you're not gonna celebrate with just watermelon juice tonight like you did last year?"
Tumblr media
He shakes his head. "Definitely not. No, definitely– lots of change… Tequila tonight." – "Enjoy!" she answers.
Tumblr media
He laughs, thanks her, and moves on.
It's hilarious hearing them talk about how great and important he is to British sports with all that came after and the smear campaigns basically. They say Bernie himself thinks he's a great champion and so proactive and all that.
Jackie Stewart gets there. He says he's so happy he was there and Lewis is so happy, justly so. He drove a good hard race. Jackie Stewart says he knew he'd never race again when he won his third, unlike Lewis who's looking forward to being able to win more titles. He's got a lot of years ahead of him and he's got every opportunity to win four or five (lol, or six or seven?). Simon asks if he thinks it's possible, in the current car, how long can they continue. Stewart chuckles. "It could be five or six!" (here ya go!) Mercedes is so superior right now, the engine, the chassis, the engineering talent they have, it's outstanding. Seb won 4 titles back to back and that's the type of things you can do when you have that superiority. Johnny says we've seen Lewis' talent grow and grow and grow, I don't understand his question. He says Stewart was critical of F1 and drivers needing a hand and asks if he would help him out. I don't get it. Stewart says he couldn't help him out because his days are passed. Funnily enough he thinks driving-wise it doesn't change, he says. He says all the great drivers of the past people love to bring up had the same way of driving, he cites a bunch of them and he says Lewis can go ahead and do it that way. You're always learning and the older you get the more you learn and the more you can adapt to some of the idiosyncrasies that you would have previously wrestled with. (Ahhhh! He's so right! We’ve seen it happen with Lewis!) You learn how to put them aside and go around them rather than fight them. He thinks Lewis is now at that point when before he was fighting them (YES ABSOLUTELY JACKIE!) and the three men standing there all say yes. Now he could mature a little bit maybe by being more confident, given he has won three titles and you don't need to race hard all the time to win (I don't think he knows how to race any other way than hard though lol). Johnny asks him if it excites him to see him on track because it excites him because he's always on. Stewart says he is exciting to watch whereas Prost wasn't exciting to watch because he was so smooth and clean. He adored the way he drove, just like Jim Clarke (he rambles about them a bit). Simon says everybody would like to see Ferrari on par with Mercedes in 2016. He asks if we put Seb and Lewis in a Mercedes, who does he bet on? Stewart says he thinks three teams are completely capable if they get it right : Ferrari, RedBull, and Mercedes. They have more money and resources than the others. (He rambles again, old man.) He says drivers like Sebastian Vettel and Lewis are so well placed within these teams, and he also cites Alonso who he says has one of the best heads in Formula 1 (All I can think of is : “How's your head? Never had any complaints.”). He thinks they all can win a lot of races. Simon asks again : in a straight fight, Seb against Lewis? He makes a face. He thinks right now Lewis is the fastest driver in F1. Johnny backs him up, "absolutely".
Seb is disappointed to have lost the title. But it was a very good race and the car was good, even in mixed conditions. He says he's not predicting "I don't have…" he gets a demented smirk, "you're a woman so I have to be careful but…" she chuckles, he smiles more. "I have balls but I don't have a crystal one." He says he doesn't wanna know the future, he knows they're working very hard, but first they have to finish this season in style. She says Lewis said he wants a battle with him next year. You can see him swallow and then smile. Istg. He says of course he's keen on that if it goes the other way around.
Nico. She asks him first about the start but he says no he'd rather talk about other things first if it's okay. He talks about his mistake. He says again it never happened before and it was weird. He's really confused about it. The race was his. He finally congratulates Lewis and says he deserved to win the WDC. He's had a great season and drove well and he was consistent. And finally, turn one. He says it didn't have a big impact on the race because he was able to get back in the lead (that's true). He says he just looked at it and he was ahead mid corner and so he had a right to the track. So Lewis was too aggressive, took it one step too far. That's not okay. She asks if he told him that. He says no, because he just saw it now. They haven't spoken. He says apart from his mistake it was an awesome race, all over the place, great battles. She asks if he realises the cap Lewis threw him was just his (girl you're brave). "On the podium? Oh you mean in the room…" He says it was nothing. "It's just our typical games." (!!!) He sniffs. She asks if he has the stomach to try again next year. He says he's not thinking about next year, he's trying to digest today.

"help, i'm in love with my brother's boring wife" <- tell me what you would do with this AU???
Look all I'm going to say is that YOU brought up Jon Snow & Jeyne Westerling (no offense Jeyne, you seem generally fine) the other day as a potentially good angst pairing. So like hmm... let's see.
So modern AU, let's go political animals. Robb was on track to become the youngest senator Westeros had ever had. Things are bad in Westeros, which explains why he is 'in bed' with people two years ago he never would have so much as had dinner with. Walder Frey is Walder Frey and oh so subtly pushes him and his daughter together, and Robb is looking like he is going to win it all with Roslin Frey at his side who is actually lovely but he can't even look at her because every time he does he sees Walder fucking Frey.
Enter Jeyne Westerling. She's a low level staffer on his campaign (she got the job through 'connections' and I'll just let everyone deduce who was behind that). She's gentle and efficient and there's lots of late nights and take out and one thing leads to another.
Now all of this would be generally fine, in fact Jeyne had assured Robb that it didn't need to be a thing at all, except he kind of sort of wants it to be a thing because holy shit the seedy underbelly of Westerosi society is really getting to him and he sees Jeyne as his way out and sure maybe it kind of sort of makes him feel things that aren't quite there.
So somehow or another it's leaked to the press.
Frey pulls his backing, Roslin is the most sought after interview in all of Westeros and Robb's political career is over before it begins.
That's fine with him. For a time. After a while though he begins to have regrets. He doesn't blame Jeyne, he knows it was his decision to pursue her and his decision to let it derail him, but even still she's a reminder of what he gave up. It doesn't help that now Westeros is in even worse shape and there's nothing he can do about it because no one will take him seriously. The private sector still loves him and doesn't have the same qualms about infidelity as voters so he is doing just fine for himself, but still feels that sense of failure.
Enter Jon Snow.
While Robb was pursuing high office, Jon was in the military. He had a wild ride of it, but distinguished himself from a young age and rose through the ranks in spite of some very unhelpful superiors and a fuck up or two.
He gets discharged on medical, a horrible wound to his arm that won't quite heal and a long recovery ahead.
Robb offers him his and Jeyne's guest house while he's getting back on his feet.
Jon and Jeyne have met before over the years when he was on leave, and he'd always thought her dull as dishwater. He couldn't understand how his brother gave up a political career for her when there was so much work to be done.
When he was on tour, he had some ill-fated romances with less than good women who were all very intoxicating and beguiling but in the end not worth the angst.
Now he's home. He isn't old but he feels it. He is used to his body doing exactly what he wants it to at all times and now he finds himself having to get used to this new normal, having to rely on the generosity of someone that he resents because of the opportunities wasted.
Enter Jeyne.
Jeyne who suffered more than Robb did, because the woman always does. Who can't apply for a job without someone saying hey how do I know your name? because they never left the north. So she works from home part time and feels listless and bored and wishing that Robb would just call it, because she can't, because she still loves him in a way she isn't sure he ever actually fell in love with her.
When Jon comes home, she finds that thing that made her want to get out of bed in the morning during the campaign, a sense of purpose. She realizes that yes, she misses her affectionate husband, but more than that she misses feeling accomplished in her own right.
Jon resists at first, not wanting her company or her help, but slowly she wears him down and they start spending more time together, as she drives him to PT etc.
He realizes that she's not dull, she's quiet. That she's not foolish, she just follows her heart. He sees the girl who everyone said ruined Robb Stark's chances, and wonders - and is maybe the first to do so - what potential she never reached because of it all.
He fights his feelings, but he is having an effect on her. She stops asking herself whether Robb is happy and starts asking herself whether she is.
One night, Robb is working home late. She's made dinner for him but it's growing cold, so she asks Jon to come over. He tries to resist but there's something in her eyes - a shade of brown he'd never realized could be so pretty - that makes him accept.
When they get into the kitchen, he sees a nearly finished bottle of red and she sort of looks at him and looks away and gestures to the set table and says: some of it went in the sauce.
They sit down and eat and she is clearly tipsy and sad and he's trying to make her feel better and he's cracking jokes. She had never realized that he was funny, and no one had ever told him that he was.
It all could be innocent, except it's not. They know it isn't. If it was, it wouldn't be so awkward when Robb comes home and finds them sitting there together.
He gets himself a plate, and tries to make conversation with Jon, and Jeyne feels more ignored than she does when they're alone, because Jon is there and he's seeing it and she knows it.
And anyway it ends with the three of them sitting there. The one brother who gave up everything and said it was for her, and the one who felt like he'd lost everything until he met her.

Oh Harumi, heya girl! Happy to see you but seems Emina was going to insult you which isn't very nice of a host to do, now is it Emina?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You.
Tumblr media
Yeah. Me.
Tumblr media
What the hell are you doing here?!
Tumblr media
Oh, nothing much. I heard there was a charity event in town, decided I’m attend.
Tumblr media
Tenmei was already taking Chiaki, so I decided to tag along with Shinji-kun.
Tumblr media
I was happy to help out an old friend!
Tumblr media
Yeah, and you know Haru-chan’s a nurse now, right? What kind of harm could she possibly do?
Tumblr media
Maybe we didn’t see eye-to-eye during our time in school, but she’s-
Tumblr media
No. I don’t want you here.
Tumblr media
And why not? You got some grudge against me?
Tumblr media
Oh wait, that’s right: I overheard you suggest that my daughter isn’t mine.
Tumblr media
Well, have you seen the girl? She’s-
Tumblr media
*Harumi pulls a folded sheet of paper out of her pocket, unfurls it and hands it to her* Here, take a look.
Tumblr media
The hell is this?
Tumblr media
Well, funny thing: DNA tests are actually easy to do these days, especially when you’re a nurse, like me. I decided to grab these before we arrived.
Tumblr media
So yeah, knock it off with the adultery crap. Regardless of how she looks, Chiaki is my baby. The proof is all here.
Tumblr media
You really went through this much trouble?
Tumblr media
I knew you well enough that you’d try and pull something like that.
Tumblr media
And what about you?! Reserve Course trash, you weren’t even part of Class 49!
Tumblr media
Yeah? Neither were any of their kids or family members. And I’m family, so shouldn’t I count too?
Tumblr media
Besides, why do you care so much? Do you just not want me here specifically?
Tumblr media
You know exactly why I don’t want you here!
Tumblr media
Do I? Why don’t you spell it out for me?
Tumblr media
Because...because you’re a spiteful, obnoxious, vulgar, condescending delinquent. Always were, always will be. No amount of work in healthcare could ever possibly undo the deplorable things you said and the attitude you-
???: Umm...Nijiue-san?
Tumblr media
Huh?
Tumblr media
What exactly has got you so riled up?
Tumblr media
E-Esumi-san! I...oh goodness, I, umm...
Tumblr media
It’s alright, sir.
Tumblr media
We’re just having some fun with her. She’s had such a long day, so she’s a bit testy.
Tumblr media
And can you really blame her? How stressful must it have been to organize this entire event?
Tumblr media
Someone else would’ve probably collapsed by now.
Tumblr media
So we were just messing with her. Old school friend stuff, nothing to worry about.
Tumblr media
Uhhh...y-yes! Exactly!
Tumblr media
And all the guests have arrived, so I finally feel I can sit down and we can have a proper discussion.
Tumblr media
Uhh...alright, whatever you say.
Tumblr media
Either way, thanks for inviting me.
Tumblr media
And who’re you, exactly, sir?
Tumblr media
Esumi Akira, head of Esumi Papers.
Tumblr media
You all are from Class 49, right? My daughter and I are hoping to do a piece on the event, so would it be alright if we interview some of you folks?
Tumblr media
It’d be a pleasure!
*Emina leans close to Harumi*
Tumblr media
If you do anything to embarrass me...
Tumblr media
You did a pretty good job of that yourself.
Tumblr media
C’mon, smile, Emina-chan. You’re gonna be in the paper.
Tumblr media
That’s right. I am, not you.
*With that, Emina walks off in a huff*
Tumblr media
Yeah. You’re gonna be big news when all this is over.

Hey there! I remember that some had been discussing why most of the younger cast of vikings didn't really progress with their careers. I have just recently rewatched the whole show, and now with some time passed and not as much of a hype I personally felt like often the acting of them was honestly hideous. I noticed that especially with Marco, Ida, Georgia and yes also with Alex. Some of them clearly had some very good and memorable scenes but compared to what Travis did with his character I now understand that a lot of people abandoned or didn't like the show after Ragnars death. Yes, Ivar carried the show like a lot after that but I personally thing that the fact that Ivar just looked hot had a lot of saying with that. Because when I rewatched the show, I thought that with season 5 the story was more often written poorly then not! I know that they were young and didnt have that much experience, but honestly if that is their biggest advertisement for themselves I kinda understand it's hard for them to get new big jobs.
Just my 2 cents, sorry if most disagree, hope no one feels offended. Just thought to myself its almost a bit surprising how my own view changed with a bit of distance form the fandom and hypetrain.
Thank you so much for sharing your opinion, anon! 😊 It's a really interesting perspective, and it's totally understandable that with some time and distance our views on things will change.
If I may also add my two cents, from my experience talking to friends and acquaintances who also used to watch Vikings, people abandoning the show after Ragnar's death had nothing to do with the new actors' skills. They were just really attached to Ragnar as a character and felt really disappointed that they decided to kill the main character, so much that they didn't see a point in continuing to follow the story, as the sons' story wouldn't be the same without Ragnar. So some people gave up right away, not even giving the show and the new cast a chance. It also didn't help that, at the time, only seasons 1 to 5 were available on Netflix, and most people didn't feel like subscribing to another platform (Amazon Prime, if I'm not mistaken) to see the 6th and final season. And while I agree that sometimes the writing wasn't the best, we can't really blame the actors' skills for that either, as they try to do their best with what they're given, I believe. 😅
I also absolutely agree when you said that "they were young and didn't have that much experience", but being on Vikings was already a huge achievement and they could have worked on improving their skills after that. I can only comment about Alex, whose career I've been following the closest in comparison to the others you mentioned, but I'd say that the problem wasn't his performance in Vikings. He showed a huge potential and commitment to the character, even if he wasn't perfect. The problem was what he did after. It seemed to me (based on past interviews) that he got a little picky with which roles he'd accept, considering some smaller ones as some kind of "downgrade" after Vikings. He also didn't seem to have resumed his formal studies or any other kind of education that would help him improve as an actor. And in such a competitive field of work, where good big roles are somewhat scarce, I don't think those were very clever choices. But this is just my personal opinion, of course, and maybe he preferred to prioritize his mental health back then and is happy doing some lighter work nowadays. 😊

DANA X WILL (@intrcspection)
Dana was angry. The word "angry" wasn't enough to describe the rage she felt inside of her. She was furious and worried. Worried about her future overall. She was less than a semester away from finishing her degree and yet here she was, unable to get even a mere internship. She had started looking more than six months ago but for one reason or another they always ended up rejecting her from the interviews in the final stage. Today I found out why. After she was turned down today, as she was leaving the recruiter's office, his secretary probably saw something in her face cause she confessed that Dana was actually on the shortlist of three candidates for the job but half an hour before her interview someone had called and Dana was suddenly left out the list. The secretary told her that Will’s dad himself had called to request Dana's exclusion.
As she processed that information, Dana started to get angrier and angrier. By the time she left the building she was ready to burn the Hales' company to the ground. She still didn't understand why the Hale patriarch apparently had a vendetta against her. Dana had never seen the man in her life, maybe in a photo but nothing else.
She had been very surprised when Will's father had agreed to see her after she announced herself at reception. The man hadn't given much thought. The talk was short and calm, almost as they were talking business. He just didn't want her near his son. She was not a good company. The cliché of being poor and the Hales having some kind of pedigree. Apparently the man was quick to disinherit children and even quicker to meddle in their affairs. "You can always get a job in another city, dear," he told her almost casually "preferably on the other side of the country or maybe Canada" He made it sound like a suggestion but Dana knew that was some kind of covert threat. "My son can try to stay away all he wants but he's still a Hale and he must respect the family name." Did it seem like she was going to marry him? Will would rather cut his left nut she was sure.
When Dana walked out she had already started to have a bad headache. However, that morning she told Will she was gonna stop by after the interview. He was probably the last person she wanted to see although technically he wasn't to blame for anything but she Dana needed to think. At the same time, she knew that he deserved to know what happened, but the fact of possibly having to move to the other side of the country or resign herself to not working was beginning to anguish her a bit.
By the time she got off the train, it was raining but she still took the time to stop by the farmer's market to buy the ingredients "Hey, I brought rice, Parmesan and white wine so I guess we're having risotto for dinner" She held up the bottle of wine that she had in her hand "I know you said we could order something but I think I can cook something decent out of this"

8/7
I made it to the city. A little above what I wanted to pay for rent, I moved in to a nice second story apartment with a lot of natural lighting and two really good friends. It is the first time I've lived with either of them, but so far the roommate dynamic is good. I think we are all more on the communicative side, but also laid back and self-responsible enough where nothing big should arise as an issue. We've had a couple problems since moving in, including a incessant leak coming from our bathroom ceiling that has yet to be fixed by the countless maintenance people and a few windows that don't seem to be properly attached to their respective areas. We also have two cats (one belonging to each of my roommates) that were not properly discussed on the lease - in fact, not allowed - but one is a certified ESA and the other "doesn't exist". Our landlord is quite upset about it but what are you gonna do? They're not my cats anyways. Other than the issues, the move has been quite successful. I am wholeheartedly broke at the moment and job searching. I have a second interview lined up for a very, very serious barista job tomorrow and I really hope I get it so I can get back to working & making money. It has been a real struggle to not work because there's not much else to fill up my time during the days. A little break was nice, sure, but I'm ready to get back into it. I sold clothes at Buffalo Exchange today, including a couple very nice bags that hurt to let go of, if that tells you how broke I am. Other than that, it's been fun. We've been out to a couple bars in the area now and our little group just caught a show at a concert hall that cost me $5 a ticket. We've had some good food and I'm excited to become a regular at the cuban place I live close to. Walking everywhere has been great too which was something that happened irregularly in the last city I lived in because it was heavily car dependent. Now, I'm walking an average of like 13,000 steps a day which feels really good (except I have a killer blister from my docs at the moment).
Moving has brought on a new era of loneliness for me admittedly and I'm trying to deal with it fast or else I know I'll sink into a bout of sadness. I've left some of my best friends behind (one refuses to move to the city until they find a job which I can't blame them for) and most of my regular bootycalls, as well as my parents. All the important ones. What's really hard is that both of my roommates, as well as the rest of the friend group that migrated, have significant others already. It hasn't been too much of an issue, but when they want to detach themselves from the larger group to do a date night or something, it sucks because I haven't found other friends to hang out with. I've matched with a lot of people on tinder (people that I could actually see myself meeting up with because why not) but it's a little different to have people you can depend on. And I hate meeting boys! Always so nerve-racking when it doesn't need to be and usually not worth my time anyways. Don't really know what I'm looking for either.
With my loneliness, I've been coming to another very adult realization/observation about a lot of my relationships with men. Specifically men who are friends and who I've slept with in the past as a casual/one-nighter thing. I have two guy friends (both living in the city, too) who almost use me as a stand-in, pseudo girlfriend while they search for a real one. And of course I've had part in it by not setting my boundaries very well and everything but it feels so shitty. It's hard to write about without giving the full details but I just feel like I am always there for them in this caregiving role, like I'm the girlfriend or mom without any of the reward. I provide them with things (nothing physical) that might transcend a normal boy/girl relationship and it has started to wear on my more as I'm single and maybe putting myself out there for a bigger relationship. One of them has recently gotten a girlfriend, and as I've now drawn the line in the sand and kind of pulled back from the friendship, he assumes that I'm unfairly upset with him. And I'm not particularly upset with him at all really, it's just that I think putting so much effort into a relationship with a man (where it has been romantic in the past) while they have a partner is crazy. I treaded onto too many relationships in high school because I was the close "girl best friend" of guys who were actually just kind of assholes. I think especially when it affects me emotionally, it's a dynamic that is just plain wrong and not something that I should invest so much time or effort in. I've also found with this particular guy that once he has no use for me/no longer finds me attractive/can't flirt with me constantly, he just becomes mean and uncaring, which is something that shouldn't happen if we were really just good friends. It makes me think of that study or quote that says that men usually aren't friends with girls they're not attracted to. The other problem child is way less comparable to the first, as it's a completely different set of situations but it still confuses the hell out of me. Me & I slept together awhile ago when we were both plastered and I always had a huge crush on him (before and after hooking up). He was the first to move to the city and we kept in contact the whole time and would see each other occasionally. The last couple of times I've seen him, it's been a touch and grab fest whether sober or not. We're very close and we always at least sleep in the same room or same bed whenever a sleepover is involved. There's always some excuse to be right next to each other or cuddling or whatever. For my birthday, I was in the city with some friends and he was there for most of it. He took us to a club and bought me bottle service and cuddled me in the morning. Now that I'm here in Chicago (which he's delighted about), we've gone out a couple times and it's the same thing. He came to the show at Thalia the other night and was plastered, which meant he was hanging onto me the whole night. Arm around my shoulder or waist, kissing my temple, dancing with me, talking into my ear as the band played. All romantic things except for the fact that we're not romantically involved at all. I don't necessarily have a crush on him anymore, and if I do, its dormant feelings that stir up when he behaves like that. And I have to admit that it feels good to be close with someone like that (physically, emotionally, etc.) but at the end of the day when I'm alone and thinking too much it gets trapped in my head. I wouldn't dare say anything to him about it ever, because I truly believe he doesn't have any romantic inclination towards me. We talk about girls he's talking to on Hinge all the time and I detail my latest hookup stories for him when I feel like talking about it. The sensitive, stupid parts of my brain just can't handle it very well.
wyoming and I have semi made-up. At this point, I don't even want to read the posts of this blog back because I know I've gone back and forth on it for so long. We are keeping a distance now for sure, but some things have come up where it's caused me to think about the end goal. When I was out drinking with friends in my hometown a week or two before I moved, I ended up hooking up with him at our spot. It was a total bootycall on my end, and while I think I treated him fairly for how he's been with me these last couple of months, I think that it affected him negatively. A lot of times with sex & intimacy for me nowadays, I detach myself emotionally so it doesn't bring up anything complicated that I don't want to deal with. And while I'm fully aware that I can't really let my emotions seep when it comes to Wyoming, I tried my fullest the night I hooked up with him. Somewhat mean, avoiding talking about myself or talking too much in general, etc. While I wanted to see him and desired some sort of physicality, I was still very much aware of the pain it had caused me in the past. Anyways, we had a very adult conversation about it recently where he said that it affected him quite a bit and he wasn't ready to do casual sex like that if he wasn't prepared to do it all the time/commit to a more serious thing. Which is really understandable and probably quite a good decision for both of us. We agreed we were still good and that if our relationship hadn't been shot to hell at this point (after 7 years of trials and tribulations), not much could stop it at this point. We are being patient with it. While I'm open to small things in the mean time - seeing as I'm 23 and in a new city - I've decided that it is worth it to be patient and that it's something I want in my future. I think he plans on visiting me soon which I'm really excited for. Last time we were here together we had a blast and let me fully plan/choose the stuff we were doing which I thrive off of. It sounds corny but I really think its a sixth type of love language. I like showing my people the good food, the good places, the places that I love in hopes they enjoy it just as much. And now I have a lot more places to show him.
I am nervous for my interview tomorrow, as there are three people who will be interviewing me as a conglomerate. I've never had to interview with more than two people before and apparently we're meeting in one of the locations conference rooms. For a barista job! It's crazy. I think I will fit in nicely there and they definitely give off the same vibe as my last coffeeshop where maybe the customer isn't always right and there's a real value for art and community and collaboration. What worries me is that one of my guy friends (neither of the guys mentioned above) just got an interview at the same location. While I am very confident in my abilities and myself, he is one of those people that other people just naturally gravitate towards. I told him he was the luckiest person I knew the other day, which is true. He went in for an interview for some door job for a bar and he got it on the spot with no actual interview at all. It's frustrating because I feel like sometimes I work twice as hard or care twice as much and it barely compares to how people perceive him because he talks loud and carries (man) confidence. Especially when he's already scored a job to make money and I have no flow of income at the moment. If he gets it over me, I'll be heartbroken. It's really something I should get into but I don't feel like it tonight.
I don't really feel at home here yet and it sort of just feels like a big vacation where I'm required to spend a lot of money on apartment stuff and feeding myself. this city was one of my first loves, so it's still very easy to get wrapped up in it, but I am homesick. I don't have the same community or routine and this time I have the weight and responsibility of being an adult who has adult things to do and pay for. I'm reminded of my getting older every day and I miss being younger so bad. And being younger really sucked for me. I think I'm somewhat holding myself back from things because I'm not comfortable enough yet in this city to do things on my own. Sure, I can go out of my own and walk around and grab food and shop, but I really value taking myself to movies or trying new things and I'm too nervous to do that yet. And literally no one cares about me or what I'm doing but my brain just refuses to let me. Like I can't imagine taking myself out to a sit down restaurant, but I want to. And I'm going to have to because honestly I love finding new shit to do or new restaurants or events and my friends aren't fully onboard with that always. Also, no one from this group likes the band citizen and they're playing here in the city and I have to go whether I'm alone or not. Eek.
Will keep you updated on the rest soon.

The Wrong Impression
i love scoops steve but never see any so maybe reader works at scoops with them but steve and robin are close and whenever reader is scheduled to work with steve he always cancels so she thinks he doesn’t like her and quits and robin breaks the news to steve and he’s heartbroken bc he liked reader with a happy ending
Request by anon
Warnings; Angst to Fluff
Steve Harrington hated her, that she was absolutely sure of.
She had been working with Steve and Robin in Scoops Ahoy for a while now and they were super close, they got on well and had bonded straight away.
Steve however seemed to hate her on sight, she wasn't sure what she had done differently from Robin in Steve's eyes but for some reason, he always seemed to cancel when she was working or he barely spoke to her.
The truth was that she had a crush on Steve and had done for a while now but he never noticed her in high school, being King Steve and all he was too popular to notice her, then he fell for Nancy and no other girl compared to her.
She had asked Robin how Steve felt about her but Robin didn't know.
The way Steve was acting was beginning to get her down so she decided to go for a job interview at a library in the next town.
It wasn't far away and the owner was very sweet so she figured it would be nice to work with people who actually liked her.
It was a shame because she liked working with Robin but it was hurting her that Steve so obviously disliked her.
"You can't leave" Robin exclaims when she announces that she's leaving.
"Steve obviously doesn't like me. It doesn't make for a good atmosphere. I want to work somewhere where I feel happy, not constantly worried and crushing on someone who never notices me and doesn't like me at all"
Robin sighs and pulls her into a hug.
"Promise we will always be close though?" Robin asks and she nods smiling.
"Of course" she gives Robin an extra hug then leaves missing Robin muttering to herself.
"Steve you complete dingus"
❤❤
"She what?" Steve gapes at Robin who is glowering at him.
"She quit because you are always cancelling when she's on shift you barely speak to her you dingus! She thinks that you hate her and can you blame her?"
Steve runs his hands through his hair and whispers a string of curses.
"I got so nervous around her! I know King Steve is nervous around a girl, haha but I like her a lot Robin and I've been so off my game lately I had no clue how to talk to her without sounding like an idiot"
Robin shakes her head.
"Go and apologise to her dumbass. Try and salvage the situation". He nods.
"Where is the library that she works?" Robin gives him the library address and he rushes out hoping that yn will listen to him.
She's surprised when Steve comes crashing through the library doors. There's a wild expression on his face and he rushes over to her.
"Steve? What are you doing here? Is Robin okay? Are you okay?",
He nods.
"Can we talk please?" She nods wondering what he wants to talk about. It's near her break so she motions him to sit on the comfy armchair, she sits on the other side.
"Did you quit because you think I hate you?" he asks her and she bites her lip.
"Yes, you get on so well with Robin but you would cancel if I was working or wouldn't talk and it worried me. I didn't know what I had done wrong, I wanted to be in a place where I wouldn't feel so unwelcome"
He swears.
"Shit, no I don't hate you, sweetheart. I'm so sorry the truth is that I like you a lot. You're sweet and beautiful and I've honestly fallen for you. I didn't know how to react around you, it's stupid I know and I should have just talked to you"
She is stunned and doesn't know what to say to him.
"You're King Steve though, you're so charming and sweet" he blushes and shakes his head.
"Used to be suave and shit but not so much now, haven't been King Steve for a long long time"
He gently takes her hand and she feels heat spread through her body.
"I get it if I've messed up my chances honey but I would like to take you out on a date, make up for all my shit"
Smiling she reaches over and kisses her cheek.
"Okay, you can pick me up at four, that's when I finish my shift" he nods eagerly and she feels excitement build up inside her.
She can't wait for tonight.

Jung Kook: “I want to prove myself through my music”
For Proof, you did the introductions to “Yet To Come,” “Run BTS” and “For Youth.” Did you have to do anything special when recording each song? Jung Kook: I mostly just listen for the mood of a song and then sing it—there’s no exact way to define what I do. But to put it simply, I’d say I sang “For Youth” in a very sorrowful way, “Run BTS” in a way that sounds like we did a long time ago and “Yet To Come” with a similar feeling to “Life Goes On.” I kept thinking I wanted to try recording again. I think I could do better, just that things were a little hectic when we recorded.
You spend a lot of time on V LIVE talking about your approach to singing. Were your thoughts on vocals reflected in the way you recorded yours? Jung Kook: It turns out I discovered something new after I finished recording them: When you’re recording, the feeling is more important than your vocal technique. I consider what makes my voice sound good when it’s heard live versus when it’s recorded, so the live version and the studio version are a little different, too.
Your voice seems a little denser than it did when you sang in English for “Dynamite,” “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.” You make “Yet To Come” sound passionate right from the beginning, for example. Why the change? Jung Kook: I used to make recording the studio versions my focus, but lately I’m trying to make my voice sound better without embellishing it too much, even just using my speaking voice. So I’m reflecting that in my voice. I think I was trying to embellish less and convey more sincerity.
The covers of “Chilly, Windy Night in 1991” and “Hate Everything” you posted to Instagram felt like something entirely new. Your vocals sounded like your speaking voice, so I thought maybe you became more interested in that style of voice. Jung Kook: I kind of feel like I want my singing—my voice—to sound better. When it comes to vocal technique, I always used to embellish my voice, so I thought it would be nice if I could sing well even when it’s with a more natural voice. I want people to consider my voice good even when I’m singing in a way that emulates casual speech, so these days I’m mainly practicing singing in my speaking voice. I mean, I’m practicing using my voice just as it is.
Do you like to sing in your natural voice? Jung Kook: To be honest, there’s a lot of times when I don’t like it. Even I think I sounded a little over the top or tried to make my voice sound extremely polished in my old performances when I hear them, but after trying to only sing with my natural voice for some time, I’m starting to feel sort of turned off by it. I know I can make a prettier sound, too, but I’m just trying to sing that way.
You sang “Stay Alive” closer to your natural voice, with some parts undeniably sounding like SUGA’s, and you also challenged yourself on some parts to sing in a higher pitch. Jung Kook: Yoongi didn’t ask me to do it that way or anything. We were really happy the recording came out as well as it did (laughs) but it was difficult, to be honest. Recording it was really tough. It was hard because it wasn’t perfect, and because I still couldn’t do it despite trying it so many times. I more or less blamed myself. The song was a good choice, and the recording went well, but things didn’t go that smoothly.
You were singing even when you came in for the interview. I’ve seen you singing many times before, in fact. What does singing mean to you? Jung Kook: Um … As far as singing goes, I want my name to become a shorthand for it. A shorthand for singing. I want to receive a lot of recognition and hopefully be able to hear my own singing and think, Wow, I’m really, really good. In other words, I want to be able to sing really well and feel comfortable doing so. I can’t feel that way every time I sing, but … I just want to be good. Now that I’m a singer and have appeared on so many different stages, there’s times I do such a good job up there that it gives me goosebumps, and with those experiences piling up, I keep thinking, How freeing and fun would it be to get up on stage and be able to sing the perfect song? Completely worry free, just like in my imagination.
How did you feel about the recent concerts, in that sense? Jung Kook: I did the first two shows in Las Vegas and practiced my vocals some more the next day and thought, Why don’t I try to sing like this? then did the third and fourth shows. I was definitely feeling good for the second and fourth shows. And I had a lot of stamina and my throat was okay up to and including the second show. I was starting to lose stamina by the fourth show but my throat was still okay. It was hard since I felt like I couldn’t warm up my voice after having COVID-19. So I was really worried for the second show, but I felt like I was getting over the hump, which made me excited, and it was really fun. Before the fourth show, I did some vocal training that gave me some ideas of how to approach things. And, you know, knowing what to focus on makes a big difference. Even though it was somewhat physically demanding, the performance gave me confidence when I realized, when I did a certain song in the lineup, I felt a little more at ease knowing what would happen for sure, even though it was tiring, and told myself it would be best to practice a certain way from then on. It was really fun in the end.
Maybe that was your way of finding your footing for performing. Jung Kook: It was awkward performing during the first show, but I also fell right back into the groove as the performance went on. I figured out after the concert that I just really enjoy putting on a show. I loved finally being able to perform again and I want to just keep on doing it.
With all the preparation that goes into performing and all your other work, do you find it having an effect on your everyday life? You said on V LIVE that you put your tongue to the roof of your mouth when you have your picture taken because it makes you look sharper but that you want to shake the habit for when you sing. Jung Kook: I haven’t been able to break the habit yet. It’s hard. (laughs) But nothing’s ever really hard. I actually like paying attention to things like that. It makes me feel like I’m trying to change, at least in the moment.
How do you feel when you think to yourself, This is good enough, or, I’ve gotten better? Jung Kook: Enough is never enough, but I feel good during English lessons when the teacher asks me vocabulary words I have memorized and I can answer right away. It’s like, I really memorized it! For singing, there’s the occasional time that everything’s going good. And there’s times it’s easy, which is when I think, This is because of all that practicing I did, right? I wish it were like that every day. (laughs).
Most of the time you spoke to the audience at the Las Vegas concert, you were speaking in English. That’s a result of working hard, too. Jung Kook: I’m grateful when other people see that and tell me I really improved or I’m good, but I never think I’m good when I think about it myself. I think what I said in English sounded better to people than what they expected. Because I didn’t make any mistakes. But I really don’t think it’s anything to be proud of. If I were able to lead the whole concert in English like that without a teleprompter I’d say I improved a whole lot, but I’m not quite there yet. I still have a long way to go when I think about it, and I actually always want to be able to say everything I said easily and without any difficulty as soon as possible. When I say I did well, it’s just what I felt in the moment. But after that? I have to be better. Quickly. Quick, quick, quick. (laughs).
Does that apply to other areas of your life, too? You’ve been trying to build up your stamina recently by boxing. Jung Kook: It’s more like the opposite. I have all these plans, but I have mismatched personality traits. I’m lazy, and inactive, and can’t be bothered with most things. So I try not to forget I made myself a promise to live a pretty active life, even if I have to force myself. I’ve been feeling that way a lot lately, so I’m going to grab hold of that feeling and not miss this opportunity and keep moving. Yesterday, for example, I could have just chilled at home at the end of the day, but I worked out one more time instead. I think you have to force yourself to do the things you feel are a hassle one by one. That’s how I’m trying to live my life.
Isn’t that less laziness and more pouring yourself into your work? (laughs) Jung Kook: I wish that weren’t the way I usually am. (laughs) It’s not like I only do things when I find them fun—I have fun and enjoy learning things when I finally get around to doing them—but I feel irritated whenever I have to do something and don’t want to do it right up until I start. (laughs) I think that’s why I’m only doing things that help me be a better singer for now. If I tried to learn an instrument right now, I don’t think I’d feel confident in it right away, but I would still try to learn the drums if I felt like it. And dancing helps me for when I’m on stage. You listen to music when you dance, which is helpful too, I think. And boxing is helpful for becoming stronger, plus it’s fun. I chose it because it’s the most fun aerobic exercise. Reading books and practicing are all because I have to write lyrics. The same goes for English: I don’t know what will happen in the future, but if I have to speak in English or do an interview, I could use it then, and I can use it to write lyrics, too. I feel like those all branch out from being a singer.
You’re already doing so much as a member of BTS. What’s driving you to try all these new things? Jung Kook: Because, in the end, I want it. I want to see myself being able to do all those things. I think there’s a lot of contradictions in my character. And maybe it’s somewhat about pride? There are times when I see someone doing something and think, If they can do it, why not me? And if I see someone really cool doing something, sometimes that’s the motivation I need to get started.
I think the type of people you surround yourself with is very important, whether you’re working together or just talking. Jung Kook: I agree. I agree. I don’t think there’s much I can motivate myself to do without other people’s help.
The other members must be a big influence on you. Jung Kook: A really big influence. Just seeing the others put out their mixtapes makes me think, When should I make one? There must be something I have that I can prove.
That’s where your Proof would come from—more so than winning any Grammy. Jung Kook: I think our status is there whether we win a Grammy or not. That was just, I don’t know—a good experience? It made me realize that, while I knew that winning the Grammy Award is a huge deal, I wasn’t really interested in actually winning one. I’m more interested in proving myself through my music. And it was great seeing performances from people I never saw live before.
That reminds me of when you, j-hope and Jimin danced to the “Butter” remix together as 3J. The behind-the-scenes video revealed that you filmed the performance video several times. And isn’t that the most important thing? Jung Kook: When Hoseok asked us to do 3J, I thought it wouldn’t be easy, but I just wanted to something. The things we do when we want to do them usually always turn out cool. It made me feel a little like being a trainee again while we did it. It was really fun because it felt quite different from working on an album. So we shot the video but every time there was always one or two spots where we were out of step. We kept filming it, even as we thought it wasn’t working as it was, but even after we finished we couldn’t shake the feeling it wasn’t quite right, so we practiced again at the end of the day and shot it again.
Why did you keep shooting? Jung Kook: I thought we would be disappointed otherwise. It was fun, for sure, but on the other hand, it made me think, Is this all I’ve got? I understood the moves in my head, but it looked a bit jarring in the mirror. And then I thought I better practice alone if I was going to prevent it from happening again. I became acutely aware that I had to keep dancing if I was going to get used to it and improve.
Isn’t it difficult releasing something when you had to work at it until you were personally satisfied? Like how someone might hesitate to release a song they’ve written? Jung Kook: That’s why there’s so many songs I’ve written that I haven’t been able to release. After making the effort to write them, I should have realized I should just edit them as much as I can and release them, but when I heard them again after a while, they didn’t sound good, so I just deleted them all.
Ah … What a shame. Jung Kook: I’ve been that way for a very long time. The other members tell me, “You have to keep making releases. That’s how you figure it all out.” So I’m writing songs lately.
I listened to “Still With You (Acapella)” and your vocals are different from when you sing with BTS—they’re very calm and focused on details. If you had been releasing songs like that, it could have become something like your signature style. Jung Kook: I think slowing down the pace at which I release songs like that really helps. I admit that I came up short a lot around that time. Even more than now. My thinking was that I could get off to a better start with my releases that way, so I think I made the right choice doing it my way.
You contributed to the music for “Run BTS.” Which part did you work on? Jung Kook: It’s mixed in all over. Hoseok, Namjoon and I were having trouble with the melody in the first verse, so we split up and wrote separately, and then I said I would try writing something, too, which ended up working out, so I ended up taking care of the first verse overall. I wrote a new melody and connected each of our parts into one.
I guess you could say that’s part of the production process. Maybe you’ll do something similar with future material, too. Jung Kook: I want it to be really unique. I want to write lyrics that don’t have any meaning, like a song where the word “yeah” is repeated for a whole verse—something like that—but it’s hard. I also wonder if I should try working with other songwriters, but I’m going to try doing it by myself first.
I suppose you’ll slowly improve if you do it that way. Where have you made improvements in particular since your debut? The new songs on Proof are about looking back on the past, after all. Jung Kook: I think I changed after the pandemic hit more than any other time. I think I’ve had the most changes from then until now.
In what way did you change? Jung Kook: I’m a little calmer now. I think I can see a little more clearly and for certain what I need to do musically now that I settled down. I still wouldn’t say I’ve turned into a grown-up entirely yet, but that feeling has slowly begun to reach me. I didn’t realize it until then.
Have you changed at all from being with the people around you or from seeing the world? Jung Kook: I’m not sure. I think my whole personality has changed a lot. In the past I would get emotional or lose my temper. Sometimes I let my emotions get the best of me, but ever since the pandemic I’ve become more laid-back and I’ve been able to look at things rationally and realistically. And I don’t get mad as easily. Even my perspective on life used to fluctuate wildly, but now I think I’m more centered.
What do you think when you look at the other members from your new, more centered viewpoint? Jung Kook: What we have now is different from the passion and spirit we had when we were younger, but we’re all ambitious and thoughtful and I’m thankful that they continue to be musically ambitious and keep expressing that. I think I would have grown up to be a very different person if the other members didn’t demonstrate their love of music the way they do now and I grew up observing that instead. I’m really grateful they still focus on our work.

request?: yes!
“I’m not sure if you do this but can you do a Devon Bostick imagine where they met on the set of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and they’re still together till this day? Possibly like them being asked about their relationship in a interview or something. Thank you so so much :))”

Landing the role of Jessie Jones in the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie was a massive deal for me for many reasons. First, it was my first starring role - I was playing a family friend of the Heffley’s and would be featured heavily in the movie. Then there was the fact that this was a movie adaptation of a very popular book series, a series that I had also been into at the time.
Walking onto set that first day I was shaking with nervousness. There were so many people - cast and crew - and they all looked so professional and used to a film set. I felt so out of place and I wondered if I should’ve been there.
“Hey!”
I looked up to see a boy around my age approaching me. I tried to swallow my nerves, but I found them just becoming heavier with someone actually talking to me.
“Are you our Jessie?” he asked.
I nodded. “Yeah, that’s me. I’m (Y/N).”
“Devon, I’m playing Rodrick.” He shook my hand. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“Yeah, you too.”
I felt so awkward and I was so sure Devon could feel that. I just wanted to melt into a puddle on the ground and have the awkwardness be over with.
“Have you been to costume and makeup yet?” he asked. I shook my head. “Well, I have to go to costume now, I can show you where it is.”
I sighed with relief. “That would be great.”
“Follow me.”
He led me from the set to the group of trailers outside. I tried to peer at the signs on the trailer doors to see what they were, but we were walking so quickly I didn’t really have time.
“Is this your first movie?” Devon asked.
“Kind of,” I said. “I’ve had mainly small roles or background work. What about you?”
“A few bigger roles. I’m in the Saw movie that’s coming out this year, actually.”
“That’s awesome! Although I am a massive pussy so I think I’d skip on that one.”
Devon laughed. “I don’t blame you. They’re scary movies. I don’t even know if I’m allowed to watch the movie.”
Our conversation was interrupted when we arrived to the costume trailer. We were both whisked away to get ready. I didn’t see Devon for nearly an hour, but by the time we reunited we were preparing for the first scene of the day.
It didn’t take long for me to lose my nerves. Within a few minutes of shooting I got into the character and almost forgot about the cameras and the crew watching me. At the end of the day I didn’t even want to go home, I just wanted to keep filming.
Devon found me as I was waiting for my ride home. “Hey, great job today rookie.”
I chuckled. “Thanks. It helps to have such great castmates.”
“You seem pretty professional as is, but maybe we could hang out and run lines for tomorrow’s shoot. If...if you want?”
He seemed so shy and awkward, the exact opposite of how he had been all day. It was kind of cute...okay, really cute.
“That’d be great actually,” I said. “Where did you have in mind?”
“There’s a fast food place not too far from here. We could walk there.”
“Sounds good. Lead the way!”

10 Years Later
My giant husky, Heimdall, came bounding into the room and onto my lap as I was talking to the talk show host on my laptop. I let out a groan as I felt the air being knocked out of me.
“Well, this is a pleasant surprise,” the talk show host chuckled.
“For you maybe,” I joked. “I don’t quite enjoy my big dog thinking he’s still a puppy or a lap dog, but I can’t really pretend like this is something new for him.”
Heimdall licked at my face as I scratched his head. Devon appeared in the doorway moments later, a guilty look on his face as he tried not to be too much on camera.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize the door was open,” he said.
“It’s okay,” I said to him.
Devon whistled for Heimdall to follow him out of the room, which led to the giant dog digging his paws into my stomach as he jumped off of me. I groaned again, playfully glaring after him as he trotted out the door.
“Interesting interlude there,” the host teased. “Was that Devon Bostick we heard in the background there?”
“It was indeed. He took Heimdall out for his daily walk while I’m in the interview. I’ll likely get tackled by the big brute again when I leave the room.”
“How often do the two of you get asked about Diary of a Wimpy Kid and your relationship starting there?”
“Not as often anymore. It’s been nearly 10 years since we started dating and eight since the last movie in the trilogy, which I wasn’t really in. I’ve been asked every now and then about it, but not as often as you would think.”
“Pardon my brief gushing, I just think the two of you are adorable. I mean, you were both teenagers when you met on set and started dating shortly after, and you’re still together all these years later! Most high school sweethearts don’t make it this long as it is, let alone being in the public eye for basically your entire relationship.”
“Well that’s the thing, we haven’t really been in the public eye all that often. We kept pretty lowkey when we first started dating, which wasn’t hard cause neither one of us was all that famous. Once our careers got bigger and we started getting noticed we had basically figured out how to hide from paparazzi and cameras and all. We don’t post about each other on social media all that much either, just a picture every now and again. We’re not sharing our day by day lives with the world basically, which I think is the best way to keep a relationship private and to navigate through being two celebrities dating.”
It had worked thus far in mine and Devon’s relationship. Even after confirming that we were dating just before the release of Rodrick Rules, neither one of us posted the other on social media at all. It wasn’t until the first set of breakup rumors started swirling that we decided to make tiny posts about each other when we felt like it, which was mainly on birthdays and holidays really.
Although, even if we were super public with our relationship, I didn’t think anything would pull us apart. As cheesy as it is to say, I did think Devon was my soulmate. We clicked so quickly after that first time hanging out (which we decided had been our first date years later), and I had never felt so confident that I was meant to be with someone. I wasn’t surprised that we were still together all these years later.
I continued with my interview for a while more before saying goodbye to the talk show host and leaving the video call. I sighed and stretched my back out, feeling the tensed muscles from sitting for so long popping. As I expected, the moment I opened the door, Heimdall came running for me.
“One of these days you’ll realize you’re not such a small dog anymore,” I told him, kneeling down to pet him. He licked at my face in response, which I figured meant he would never realize that.
“Did we derail the interview too much?” Devon asked, coming to join me on the floor.
I shook my head. “Not much. We talked about our relationship a little bit, but we moved on almost immediately after that.”
Devon smiled. “Yeah? What were you talking about?”
“Oh, the usual: meeting on set, keeping our relationship lowkey, when you’re gonna put a ring on it.”
He gave me a playful look. “You say that as if you’re not the one who said you’re more than okay with just being common law married until we’re 30.”
I nudged him. “Yeah, whatever. Let’s go take this oversized baby and watch some movies downstairs.”
Devon nodded and leaned forward. I gave him a quick kiss before pulling away and shoving the massive dog towards him. While he was incapacitated, I took the opportunity to run down the stairs. Heimdall was to his feel and chasing after me, Devon following closely on his tail.
I couldn’t imagine a better life than this, with my teenaged sweetheart and our fur baby. The perfect happily ever after if you asked me.
