Hi i'm stuck between infp and enfp and I wanted ur op on what u think I am? I'm actually kind of shy/quiet/awkward in social situations, but I think it's because I have some social anxiety? Either way, I always have a natural urge/tendency to be around people and try exciting things. I have a lot to say and feel like I only hold back because of my anxiety/fear. In truth, I'm actually quite spontaneous but also deep/internally focused at times. Do u think I might be an infp or enfp??

From that information I can't tell if you are an enfp, infp or other type. First of all you need to know if you are an introvert or an extrovert. There are extroverts who can have social anxiety or be shy and introverts who can be social. There's the stereotype that extroverts equal party animals or people with 100 friends that always have to be socializing, or that being an introvert equals shyness. Those are just confusing stereotypes.

The first letter of a physchological type is I or E , which stands for our primary attitude: Extraversion or Introversion.

Extroverts: emphasize the influence of outward circumstances. They interact with most situations in terms of the satisfactions possible to them—even if those satisfactions have no immediate relationship to their Introverted reflections.

Extraverts are stimulated by the claims, pleasures, and obligations of the outer world. The people, things, and events that constitute the external world.

Do you seek and collect energy from the world outside?

Are you energized by the outside world of people, objects, experiences, etc?

Do you act before reflecting?

Are you influenced by and gauge your worth by the expectations and attention of others?

Are you outgoing and highly expressive, and do you fail to recognize your own needs?

Are you straighforward, understandable, accesible?

Introverts: emphasize the inner viewpoint. They are most comfortable in situations that allow for sustained reflection and a certain amount of privacy. If the satisfactions possible in a situation aren’t well enough related to their needs, they may carve out a space for themselves that allows them to participate on their own terms.

Do you consider your own viewpoint the arbiter of reality and make decisions based on it?

Do you focus on and draw sustenance from a vivid and rich inner world of thoughts, ideas, feelings, impressions, facts?

Do you reflect before you act?

Do you defend yourself against the expectations of others?

Are you self-aware, sometimes passionately intense, but may not realize the effect you have on others?

The key here is to reflect on yourself and think were do you draw sustenance, the inside world or the external world? Extroverts can be reflective at times when they use their introvert functions but they still have the preference for extraversion.

Also, you need to take into account your cognitive functions to figure out your type accurately. There are 4 functions in each stack of each type, their order vary depending of the type.

It's not the same to have Fi in your dominant function or as the auxiliary function, the dynamic changes. When an INFP is presented with a new situation for example, he or she first needs to reflect on personal feelings or how she feels about the situation. If it aligns with her personal values she then goes for it. On the contrary an ENFP may easily jump to the new experience and seeks to exploit it's potential, and then reflects and internalizes feelings.

INFP: Internalizes feelings, then is open to new experiences.

ENFP: Experiences, then internalizes feelings.

First of all, there are the perceiving functions, which can be iNtuitive (N) or Sensation (S). We use those functions to perceive.

Types who prefer Sensation generally focus on direct sensory experience. They’re aware of appearances, facts, and details, and their surroundings have a direct impact on them.

Types who prefer Intuition generally ignore the material surface of things and consider the larger picture. They’re interested in meaning and future possibility, not facts and details. Intuitives may be so focused on a situation’s potential that they overlook present obstacles. They have great interest in symbols and the unseen, it's natural for them to read between the lines, they see what's behind the physical. Ex: When watching a movie an intutive interprets an old and decrepit manor where a tragic character lives like his underworld, a place of suffering and entrapment. A sensor just sees it as a manor, nothing more.

Then, there are the judging functions: Thinking (T) and Feeling (F). Judging functions prompt us to note how things usually happen and to organize our behaviors accordingly. This is why Thinking and Feeling are considered rational functions. Rational behavior is always based on predictability—things we know to be true because they happen regularly in the same way.

When we use Thinking, we organize our behaviors in terms of general, impersonal predictability: rules, laws, principles, logical or numerical sequence, definition, hierarchy, and so forth.

 When we use Feeling, we organize our behaviors in terms of specific, personal criteria: the signs and rituals that convey our shared beliefs, values, moral sensibilities, identification with others, and social relationships.

Lastly, there are the Perceivers (P) or Judgers (J). These do not represent cognitive functions, but preferences.

As the title suggests, those with a J preference pair like to “judge” life’s outcomes. They’re careful calibrators and enjoy setting schedules and making plans. They prefer to know what comes next and like to have a sense of control over their surroundings. Overall, they like things the way they are and aren’t always open to change.

Perceivers see life as a spontaneous opportunity.Those with a P on their personality results are most likely seen as creative, curious, and open-minded. They can easily adapt to almost any situation and prefer flexible schedules. All in all, they come across as procrastinators with an outgoing approach on life.

There's a lot more to know with the functions, but I didn't wanted to overwhelm you. Oz is a man of many tricks; he was raised to entertain the audience, which is why he is great at lightening up the mood of the room. The many tricks he can do reminds others of a puppy trained on how to play dead, or shake hands. Despite that, Oz actually struggles in actually expressing the his true feelings— used to being the brunt of many jokes growing up, he believes that he is simply a puppet used for the entertainment of others. He sees himself as a hollow doll with no real personality, only meant for display. He is confused about who his truly is, used to what others want to see and not what he wants to show. Slowly, he is realizing that he is merely human, and that he should live for his own sake. (Old info from my notes)

Random Facts - Part-beastmen, specifically a rabbit beastmen but he lacks actual features aside for his tail that was cauterized off when he was younger - He doesn't look the part but he also likes getting into shenanigans, sometimes instigating Yuu and Adeuce with the pranks they do (No one really believes the trio when they say it was Oz's idea) - He's double jointed which is helpful with his Acrobatic hobby. - Love language is gift giving, and has a tendency to make crochets for other people. I was feeling bored so for you @joydoesathing fans who wanna join the joy-verse by making a genderbend oc here's my lil (unofficial) guide (?)

This is just how I made my characters (The gender bend Taylor Family) so this guide is unofficial, I'm willing to take any tips and tricks!

Disclaimer: this post is going to just mainly assume you don't already have an og tnmn oc from the original game, this is making a 'genderbend' character fully from scratch and when I have the time I will most likely post abt how to genderbend an already existing oc u have.

1. Pick a gender

Considering the game takes place in 1955, it's common for people to either just go by male or female but your oc's gender/pronouns are completely up to you! This is probably way easier for those people who are just gender bending an already existing TNMN oc they have from the og game.

2. Decide on a nationality

Picking a nationality for your characters is important because that can help you form other aspects of your character such as religion, behaviour and even their name. Most of the characters in Joy's au grew up in America but have originated from somewhere else (e.g; The Sverchzt twins being Russian but living in California (before the apartment))

3a. Come up with a (simplified) backstory

Coming up with a backstory can help contribute to a characters personality and behaviour, your first draft of your backstory doesn't have to be super detailed like a Taylor Swift fountain pen song (iykyk). Just keep it simple for now. Questions I like to think about first are:

1. What is your character's family like? (Family are one of the main things that can influence someone's behaviour)

2. Did they face/suffer any kind of abuse? Whether physically, mentally or emotionally (Take Frances and her abusive parents for example, because of the strict boundaries she received, when she finally found 'freedom' it changed a major aspect of her life) was your character bullied or teased at school?

3. What's their financial situation like? Did your character grow up in poverty or were they privileged? How's their financial situation now compared to when they were younger?

3b. Decide on a personality

Deciding on a personality is one of the most important parts of making a character! One of the things I do to help me decide a characters personality is deciding on their MBTI type (explained below)

The first thing I like to decide on an oc's personality is whether or not they are introverted or Extraverted, then I build off of that.

4. Decide on an appearance

You're probably wondering why I made this the fourth step, but for me personally, deciding on a personality/nationality/backstory is what helps me start on the designs for my characters :D! What I notice about Joy's au is that the characters appearances match their personality whilst still representing their original counterpart. For those who are a bit stuck, here's some questions that can help your character design

1. What's their hair length?

2. Do they have freckles? Birthmarks? Scars?

3. What colour are their eyes (random question ik but this question helps me)

4. What's their clothing style (keep in mind the game takes place in the 50s and fashion was different back then)

5. In case you haven't yet, decide on a name.

You're probably wondering why I left this last, and that's because sometimes you don't know what you want to name your oc if you don't already have a basic base of their character. Their name may have already came to you, but that doesn't mean it would happen to everyone else. What I like to do when I can't decide on a name is I go on Pinterest and search up name ideas.

6. Decide on a Job/occupation

There's four ways I look at this

1. Student

If your characters a student, you also gotta consider stuff such as

How are their grades?

Do they find it easy to make friends?

Are their teachers nice to them?

2. Employed

If your character is employed, I usually like to match my characters' jobs to their personality! If your character is good with kids, try make them a teacher, if they can cook/bake rlly good, make them a chef/baker! If they have good leadership skills, make them a boss! It's all up to you :D

3. Housepartner/retired

Uh the name kinda sums it up, but here are some questions to help you out :3

-Do they like staying at home all day?

-How often do they go out? Whether it's to socialise or just to get groceries?

- What do they do around the house most of the time?

4. Agnes /j

Criminal, to sum it up. I don't have any experience in this field so uhhh just search it up....

Things to look out for

- Keep in mind the game still takes place in the 1955s. Things were different back then, r@cism and s3xism were still quite common, so your oc may or may not be affected by it (e.g; Wilma being discriminated for wanting to have a scientific career because she was a woman and the Glenn having to 'stay in line' at work because he knew some people would find any excuse to get him fired/demoted due to his race.)

- Do research. Trust me, it will help. Did your character fight in WW1 or WW2? Was your character Japanese and sent to an internment camp? Was your character bullied as a child for only having one parental figure (shout-out to you Anatolii you're my 2nd fav GB TMMN character)

- again, it was the FIFTIES, fashion was different than it was today. Try doing some research to help you out, I use Pinterest.

Personality:

Sabine is someone who understands the importance of feeling, and does not disregard the feelings of others. However, she had to build up her resilience very early on, learning to always be in control of her own emotions. Sometimes it is even difficult to truly understand what a person like her feels, since Sabine does not open up to almost anyone.

Few people know about her life before Night Raven College, only that she has been Vil's friend and right-hand woman since she was young, being the only friendship he built during his childhood due to their families being friends. Few people know, but Sabine has a passion for dance, having done ballet from a very young age, but stopped so she could study at the NRC and continue to be with Vil.

Guided by instincts much like maternal ones, she resembles a softer version of Vil—someone who pursues perfection and encourages others to achieve their best, yet consistently leans toward gentleness rather than strictness. Sabine has a natural gift with children, and many younger students, especially at Pomefiore, trust and count on her as a motherly figure.

Backstory:

Sabine is the eldest daughter of a successful family—her father was a renowned movie producer. During her childhood, she lived comfortably in a lovely home with her parents and her two younger twin sisters. It was through her father that Sabine first grew close to Vil, back when they were children, since he was friends with Eric Venue. The two men believed it would be good for their children to form a lasting friendship. Life, back then, was calm, pleasant—perfect. Sabine earned excellent grades and was dedicated to ballet.

Everything changed when her father passed away in a car accident when she was ten. Her mother, devastated by grief, fell into a deep depression, and Sabine had to take on more responsibilities at home, becoming an almost full-time caretaker for her little sisters. Her mother took a long time to heal. During that time, Sabine learned to keep her emotions in check, feeling the need to be a role model for her sisters and a source of strength for her mother. She kept her grades excellent and continued with ballet—not just out of passion, but because she knew quitting would only give her mother one more thing to worry about.

Even so, her friendship with Vil never faltered. Eric Venue remained close to the family, offering support however he could, and Vil was always there for Sabine, just as she was for him. Their bond deepened with time, rooted in trust, until, eventually, deeper feelings began to blossom.

When Vil told Sabine he planned to pause his acting career to focus on arcane studies at Night Raven College, she didn’t think twice before quitting ballet and applying to the same school. She had already begun to manifest magical powers, but the real reason for her decision was never shared. Vil never understood why she left ballet behind, and Sabine never confessed that her impulse came from a fear of losing the closeness they’d always promised to preserve.

Though her love for dance never disappeared, it slowly slipped into the background. And while she isn’t Vil’s vice-housewarden, both he and Rook rely on her as a quiet, steady presence in Pomefiore—always ready to support them.

Relationships With Other Characters:

Sabine is a person who always values cordiality and respect in her personal relationships. Here are some highlights:

♡ Vil Schoenheit: They've always been there for each other, right from the beginning, developing over the years a relationship based on trust, dialogue and support. Sabine doesn't remember when her feelings for Vil stopped being just friendship and became romantic. She always admired him, sometimes even mirroring his behavior and always matching his aesthetic. The thing is, Sabine thinks she'll never have a chance—having Vil Schoenheit as a best friend is already something many would do anything for, but have him as a boyfriend? That's something she only allows herself to dream of. She's content with just admiring and loving him in secret, afraid of ruining their friendship. But that's where the twist lies: Vil has also been in love with Sabine since early on, but he only realized his own feelings during sophmore year. Right now, he finds himself in a complicated situation, not knowing how to proceed. Everyone sees how much their connection goes beyond a simple childhood friendship, but no one would dare to intervene.

Rook Hunt: Sabine and Rook have a relationship based on mutual respect and a normal level of trust between colleagues. Rook admires Sabine's elegance and composure, and she... Well, she's gotten used to Rook's nature and enjoys his company. Despite wanting to always be by Vil's side, Sabine has never been mad at Rook for being the vice-housewarden instead of her. The two of them like each other too much to fight over something so silly, considering that both Rook and Vil are always seeking Sabine's opinion. Rook is also the biggest shipper of Schoenspeculum (Schoenheit + Magispeculum), always teasing the two discreetly about how it seems like they were made for each other.

Genevieve Adams: Ever since their paths crossed in Book 5, Sabine has developed a huge fondness for Genevieve. Her upbeat and energetic nature was exactly what she felt they needed for the SDC, even though Genevieve didn't want to compete. Sabine recognizes Genevieve's genius the moment she sees her, and the way Genevieve expresses herself through her colorful and personalized clothing is something Sabine finds very precious. Genevieve also adores Sabine, as if she were the older sister she never had.

Eric Venue: Eric sees Sabine as the daughter he never had. He's always been fond of the daughters of an old friend, of course, but Sabine is special. He's noticed how much the girl has changed since her father's death, enduring things that a girl her age should never have to endure. Sabine looks so much like her own father, and Eric can't help but smile when he looks at his son's friend and is reminded of his own friend. Eric is also the first to notice how Vil and Sabine have feelings for each other. Honestly? He's just waiting for the day Sabine becomes his daughter-in-law. For Eric, it's only a matter of time.

Fun Facts:

Even though she quit ballet classes to study at NRC, Sabine hasn’t stopped dancing. If you’re lucky, you might catch her stretching or even dancing at the Pomefiore ballroom during her free time.

Sabine has never been much of a public speaker. During the film research club activities, she usually takes on roles behind the camera. Despite this, she is a great orator, and Vil has tried to convince her to try acting.

Sabine has never been one to daydream. However, when she is reading, she allows herself to do so a little.

Just like Vil, she normally wears 13cm heels, so, standing, she's 192cm tall.

MBTIs of BBC's Merlin & Arthur Pendragon

Arthur Pendragon (ISTJ)

Introverted (I): Now I know many people see him as an extrovert. I argue he plays extroverted out of necessity. Although Arthur is often in the spotlight due to his royal position, he tends to process emotions and decisions internally. He’s reserved about personal feelings, often keeping a stoic exterior, particularly in moments of vulnerability. His introversion explains why in season 4 finale (the show only has 5 seasons), he told Merlin that Merlin was still his only friend, despite the fact that all the Knights of the Round had already been established! He clearly differentiates knights who would willingly give their lives from real friends. Arthur is so private that he doesn't even tell his wife things. In season 5, she casually said, "Arthur never tells me anything." Arthur only really lets Merlin in. (Because he loves Merlin, duh. lol)

Sensing (S): Arthur is pragmatic and focused on the present. He has a strong sense of duty and tradition, often valuing tangible results and sticking to established systems, like the chivalric code and the duties of being a king.

Thinking (T): He makes decisions based on logic and duty rather than emotions. Arthur strives to do what is right for Camelot and tends to focus on rationality when dealing with political and military matters, even if it means setting aside personal attachments.

Judging (J): Arthur values structure and order. He is disciplined, prefers routines, and is committed to fulfilling his responsibilities as a king. He can be strict, both with himself and others, expecting everyone to uphold the same level of duty.

Merlin (ENFP)

Extraverted (E): I have heard some parts of fandom say Merlin is introverted.... But Merlin has to be the friendliest, most outgoing and open character on the show! Hello, I'm Nyx!

I go by that nickname, or @mostfantasticfreak, on most platforms. I've known about shifting since 2023 (I think?), and I've been semi-actively attempting to shift since then.

Here are some basic details about me:

⟡ 25 years-old. ⟡ Capricorn. INFP. ⟡ Self-employed artist. ⟡ I’m unhealthily obsessed with my S/O. ⟡ I make myself OP or rich in almost every DR I make, lol. ⟡ Aside from shifting, I like writing, and I like creating Alternate Universes. Specifically ones that I am not planning on shifting to. These are usually mixed in with my DRs and are created solely for the purpose of experimenting with plotlines and lore.

Now, I think it's also worth introducing my S/O, since he is a big part of any DR that I shift to. Without fail, he is always my significant other in every reality. And he is also an OC (technically)!

(Oh, and I'm gonna introduce my DR-Self too.)

But here are some basic details about my S/O:

⟡ Full Name: Sugu Ookoshi. ⟡ Age: 20+, usually a year older than me; sometimes a few decades though, lol. ⟡ Birthday: 5th of May. ⟡ Zodiac/MBTI: Taurus/INFJ. ⟡ Gender: Male. He/Him.

He's a very sweet, quiet, awkward, and anxious guy. A bit of a social loser and a nerd, but those are probably the things I love most about him (cuz me too man, lol). He's typically older than me. Sometimes by only a year, and sometimes by a few decades. In supernatural DRs, his abilities typically center around healing or medicine. He also really loves mangoes, ramen, and Michael Jackson. I could probably talk about him all day, but I really don't want to make this post longer than it already is. So here are some pictures of him! (Most are my art, some are edited photos).

I've been meaning to for SO long now, but I keep putting it off because I am fairly new compared to some veterans here. everyone has all eight functions, but in different orders. your mbti “type” (like INFP, ESTJ, etc.) is based on which four you use the most, and especially your top two, called the dominant and auxiliary functions. these two shape most of your personality.

if your dominant function is a perceiving function (N, S), then your auxiliary function would be a judging function (T, F). if one is extraverted, the other is introverted.

so if you're an ISTJ, for example, that doesn't mean you don't perceive at all. the S in ISTJ helps you perceive (through sensing), while the T helps you judge. J in your mbti just means that your judging function (T) makes the external part of your personality (so, Te), while your perceiving function (S) is who you are on the inside, (so Si).

now that we have that out of the way, let me brief you on all 16 mbti types, based on their dominant/auxiliary function pairings:

INFP (Fi-Ne)

to explain functions a bit: an INFP's dominant function is Fi (introverted feeling), which means their personal values and emotions are very inward, deep, and individual.

their auxiliary is Ne (extraverted intuition), so they interpret the world through patterns, ideas, and possibilities, very externally focused.

OK, this will be kinda hard for me... But I'd really like to talk about Hal. Some time ago I found myself realising that there are a lot of similar things in me and that character.

It was terrible thought. I was scared because I don't really like this guy's personality (duh). Ironically I found out then that my mbti IS ALSO SIMILAR to his (ESFP) 🤡

On this basis I had struggled a lot with the body dysphoria because my inner voice told me every time I was looking at the mirror, that I do look like Hal.

You see, I have some extra weight, living the most time of my life with fatphobic parents. And moreover, some time ago I dyed my hair in ginger color.

And it is some kind of evil miracle that we have so many similarities in the appearance.

And, apparently, all this turned over time into such a huge lump of complexes and pain that my psyche simply could not stand it anymore.

I'm afraid to imagine what would have happened to me now, if not for the help of my psychologist, with whom I was finally able to talk honestly, without fear of being perceived as a strange overgrown child in an adult's body (actually, that's how I perceived Hal). And after some time of these sessions, I suddenly found out that... Yes, it's true. I really am like Hal, who became Titan in "Megamind". And I hated this character primarily because he reminded me of myself. He reflects all my negative traits: impudent, lazy, sometimes slow-witted, who can't see beyond his own nose. And also someone who believes that in life you will always be guided, and that there is a certain scheme according to which it can only be this way, and no other. We also went through the same thing at one time.

By the way, it was this realization that helped me look at the world from a different perspective, without the idea of ​​purpose and some kind of fate. And basically without meaning. This is, in essence, the beauty of the world: there is no meaning in anything, so a person himself gives meaning to what he loves or hates. All cultures, plots, gods, languages, cities and countries, architecture, painting, writing - all this, in essence, is absolutely random bullshit that was invented by people, the same as us, who are here now. We are all, like every creation, one big accident with consequences in the form of a butterfly effect. Beautiful or terrible - everyone decides for themselves.

But I got distracted.

Actually, yes. I really do look partly like Hal... Or, at least, I feel myself to be somewhat alike him. But I realized that this doesn't mean that I am bad. Or wrong. Or not worthy of basic respect and love from myself.

The fact that I am like someone does not mean that I am obliged to repeat their mistakes or fate (the second, as I have already mentioned, I have a hard time believing). It only means that through the prism of this or that person I give myself the opportunity to get to know myself a little better. To become a little closer to myself. To take another step towards accepting myself as I am. Not perfect. But nothing in the world is perfect. Otherwise, it would simply freeze in place, like life itself.

No one is perfect. None of us. But that's what makes us beautiful. Our flaws are what make us us. They are as beautiful as our virtues. It's just that many of us find it very difficult to accept them in ourselves.

Now I understand that Hal is not such a "bad guy" at all. He is just led and doesn't value or love himself at all. And it's... Really sad, to be honest.

In fact, he even reminds me of Soos from Gravity Falls. Another thing is that Soos is much more responsible and compassionate, that's how his personality has developed (by the way, he is one of my favorite characters. I even once took part in the creation of a fan novel, where I got to draw his model 💘).

In another version of the turn of events, Hal could have remained the same cozy and funny geek. Maybe at one point he would have decided to find his place. Or move somewhere. In any case, each option is good in its own way. Perhaps, again, under different circumstances, he could even have become a more or less good hero, but these are just guesses. Or desires. In general, it doesn't really matter.

Now I understand that it is quite possible that I could have become friends with him and spent hours discussing various computer games, cartoons and all sorts of events like festivals and starcons.

We are, first of all, not those whose stereotype we fall under. We are those who we ourselves choose to be. And there is always a choice.
