The dumbest mistake I ever made was watching Marvel. I was happy with DC and DC was doing well with Nolan at the helm. But I foolishly watched Marvel for Iron Man like many people and made the MCU a smash hit. And then the Captain America directors murdered him so their boy could get his missing dance. I should have seen it coming. Marvel turned its fanbase into warring camps with Civil War and obviously Feige giving the Captain America directors the Avenger movies was him giving Captain America stans eternal victory over Iron MAn. I should have bailed. If no Tony stan watched Civil War the box office might have spooked Feige into backing off.

If, if, if.

We Tony stans were used and then discarded. And it may very well be able to use Tony's corpse as an eternal energizer bunny. (For some godforsaken reason Manohla Dargis thinks Nat's blonde replacement in the latest Marvel movie is like Tony?) And of course the MCU used its popularity to grab Fox's Marvel, ie the X-men who are Feige's fav and the only Marvel group popular among normal people prior to the MCU. It feels like everything is hopeless now. But maybe the MCU will crash and burn someday as it deserves and maybe James Gunn can resurrect DC.

something about the final climax of thunderbolts not being this huge, explosive battle where the villain is irredeemable and the heroes summon the power of the galaxies to stop them-

but how the final climax was quiet. the darkest shadow, a void falling over new york. it wasn't loud, there wasn't any screaming. it descended upon the city and the people didn't have a chance to react before it swallowed them whole.

how the team's battle was internal, inside their own minds, instead of a huge punchy shoot-off. (especially with this group's skill set, it was unexpected) how they all fought through the shame and guilt and their worst nightmares only to embrace each other anyway. the villain fighting against himself only to realize he is allowed to be loved, despite it all.

how they are all fucked up and have done terrible things but saved the city by holding each other tightly, so tightly that bob realizes the void isn't all he is, and light always comes again.

this movie had so much heart, it made me feel something for a team again, we are so back.

seeing people's reaction to the new yelena clip makes me realize again how badly the mcu fucked up natsha's fighting style.

like, all black widows are literally suppossed to be olympic level gymnasts, acrobats and aerialists.

that's kinda their thing...

but the mcu decided to make natasha wrap her thighs around a man's head 24/7 instead of making her fighting style what it's suppossed to be: acrobatic, artistic and even kind of ballet inspired.

"B-b-but it's not realistic!!😖🥺😢 She has the super soldier serum!!" It's the mcu! there literally was a purple man, who wiped out 50% of the universe using pretty stones.

I think you guys can survive when a woman (who's been trained in acrobatics & gymnastics since she was a little girl) uses highly acrobatic/gymnastic skills in her fighting style. And it's still not confirmed whether or not the Widows have some sort of serum but it's realistic (at least for me) that after decades of training one can pull off such skills without a serum.

people can do whatever they want with fictional characters forever but one thing that always pisses me off is how aro/ace characters are treated in shipping.

while it is a naive mentality to tell people never to ship aspec characters, saying “aces CAN have sex” and “aros CAN be in a romantic relationship” to defend erasing their aspec identity just to ship them as if they were like an allo person means you don’t respect their identity, nor ours. yes aces can have sex. yes aros can be in a romantic relationship. but they will still be aromantic and asexual while in that relationship. and don’t even get me started on using demi identities as an “easy explanation” for why it’s okay to allowash them. other identities are treated with such absolution, so why should we continuously get the short end of the stick?

so i guess the thesis of this post is that people are absolutely allowed to ship aspec characters but if you mfs don’t care enough to understand the nuances of our identities i’m taking your aspec blorbos and putting them on a high shelf

nearly beat him to a pulp (after literally the briefest apology/half-hearted attempt to talk) almost snap his neck and then leave him lying there, helpless and hopeless, while you walk away and drop your shield. steve knew howard stark too. why doesn’t he feel guilty about any of this?

This is them fucking with Valentina from the inside. Bucky used to be the world's best assassin how do we know he isn't lying through his hydra grade reinforced teeth?

This could be a whole plot between them. Bucky is working on the inside to bring Valentina down like how he was in Congress and Sam is filing for copyright to take away any rights she wants or could have to the Avengers and their name!

It's just a ploy and Sam and Bucky are being the best liars ever.

Steve being the one to steal the car in catws is one of my favourite things simply because there's no way Natasha "The Black Widow" Romanoff doesn't know how to steal a car.

Which to me implies that she pretended to not know how, or at least waited just a bit to see if Steve would do it.

Simply to know if he could, figure him out.

Technically they are nothing with Tony (killing him off killed the heart of the MCU) but they think they are nothing without RDJ. So this dumb casting choice.

the people shitting on the new cap movie dont fully realize what captain america really stands for. steve was given the serum because he was "a good man" and thats exactly why steve picked sam as the next captain america, because sam is a good man, not a perfect soldier. he always sees the good in people just like how steve did. so i dont want people who have watched the new cap movie to say that sam doesnt deserve to be captain america.

Marvel played Tony stans and is trying to do so again.

Honestly to a certain extent this punking began in Age of Ultron when they gave Tony Ant Man's role but they were definitaly punking us in Civil War where Tony was right and Steve was wrong but Steve kicks his ass and wins and the only one to ever be upset by Steve's terrible, selfish behaviour is Tony. Then the Captain America writers ignored Tony's arc (which is about family and recovery) to murder him while giving Steve everything. And the defense from Endgame stans is, quite literally, he is an egoist who needed a redemptive death. Captain America fans look at Tony and see a villain. They cast RDJ as Doom to try to make everyone do the same. It won't work on Tony stans of course. But it might work in that it will get Tony stans to give Marvel money. Please for the love of Tony, don't. This not them suddenly giving a damn about Tony. This is them thinking that RDJ is their golden goose and they never should have ditched him, but they're also making clear that they look at RDJ and see a villain character. And like Stane after calling Tony a golden goose they're going to attempt to kill him again and unlike Stane will succeed. It was always a mistake to watch Marvel and it did not suddenly stop being a mistake because they're bringing RDJ back just to kill off his character again.

I saw someone talking about this earlier, but I love the concept of The Winter Soldier being a ghost story. The IDEA of the Winter Soldier. Something you see out the corner of your eye. A ghost that leaves a trail of bodies. Something you never saw coming and never saw leave.

In CA:TWS the Death Squad mentioned by Bucky (idk how to spell the whole thing) is considered more dangerous. But in the 60 or so years that he was the Winter Soldier, he was the one people feared. Yes, the Death Squad was successful, but that was the work of 5. He created a reputation by being a one man killer. Not only that, but an efficient and deadly machine with one mission. To comply.

I kind of wish we got to see more of the Winter Soldier in action (but don't get me wrong, seeing Buck as the Winter Soldier makes me sad). Having more elaboration and action would be interesting though.

Bucky's left shoulder would have to be immensely uncomfortable in the cold. You ever wear metal jewelry like earrings when it's sub-zero out? The metal cools almost instantly. It gets painful pretty fucking fast. Prolonged contact with surfaces that cold causes ice burns, which can blister, open up and scar just like any other burn (possible explanation for some of the scarring on his shoulder?).

Even though there's probably some kind of mechanism in the arm so it doesn't freeze up and lose all functionality in the cold, there's no way it'd help much with comfortability. And when he was taken out of cryo freeze? No help there. His body would warm up a lot faster than his arm, and he'd feel that burn in addition to an awful full-body thawing out.

And there's nothing he'd be able to do about it. What could he even do, claw his own arm off? HYDRA definitely wouldn't give a shit about it; they've probably tested how long he can hold out in the cold just like to fuck with him.
