Indeed! After the end of the Code Stringer arc and Cosmicverse, they had went into hiding for a good while after ditching The Syndicate of Steel and only would reveal themselves by the time of Multiversal Fusion: Nexus Point.

Alice would kinda be the same apart from more modifications added to her body while Beau on the other hand would be transferred into a Construction drone/"Worker Drone Plus" model (Basically what Clara is) and is now a massive tank of a drone who's still a big mama's boy despite now being a brute bodyguard with additional disassembly drone parts and massive spider legs attached to his back...His hat also still fits on him as well somehow.

Not long ago people attacked gay and lesbian people for being sexual predators. These days the same arguments are used against trans people.

Right wing extremists and left wing “trans-exclusionary radical feminists” (TERFs)  are arguing that trans women are a threat to cis women and children. The tactic is to sexualize transgender people, reducing their gender identity to some kind of perversion.

This is not in any way a new tactic, historically. It has been used against feminists, people of color and gay men and lesbian women.

So, you might ask why lesbian are using the same tactics against trans people, as straight, cis, people used against their kind. They have clearly learned nothing from history.

Over at twitter The Implausible Girl has collected a wide variety of newspaper clippings documenting the arguments used against gay men and lesbian women.  I will present some of them here.

The Cult Argument

One typical argument used about trans people is that they are part of a cult that uses propaganda to harm cis people. The same argument was used against gay people.

The fact that gay men and lesbian women were forced into the closet by transphobes, was used against them by the same transphobes. They were considered deceptive and dishonest. The same applies to trans people today.

The Oppressor is the Victim Myth

When gay men and lesbian people fought for respect and acceptance, their straight oppressors immediately presented themselves as victims. These days lesbian TERFs spread the lie that the trans cause is weakening the lesbian cause. 

The argument that “gender ideology” threatens religious liberty is the exact same argument as the one used against gay and lesbian people in the 20th century.

The Sexual Predator Myth

Female rebels used to be called "sluts” and “nymphomaniacs” by the servants of the Patriarchy. Black people had to use separate bathrooms in South Africa and the American South, to “protect” white women and children for irrational, hypersexual, black men and women. Finally, lesbian and gay people were considered part of an evil conspiracy aimed at turning “decent kids and women” into sexual deviants.

The Binary is Common Sense Myth

People who know little about science or the diversity of religious beliefs seem to think that the sexual binary (we are all born straight) and the gender binary (biological sex equals gender identity) are self evident. Moreover, they think this dogma is supported by science and religion.

Lesbian TERFs, who are themselves victims of this nonsense, are now using this argument against trans people.

The Free Speech Argument

In democracies oppressors have always hidden their bigotry behind the free speech argument. Apparently they think that free speech legitimizes hate speech and violence. For some reason the argument for free speech is not applied to their victims, gay or trans people.

Matryoshka Doll & Wooden Soldiers (WIP title)

— A Nutcracker Retelling

Genre: Fairytale retelling, adult fiction, speculative fiction.

Setting: Wintery, early 19th century Germany, Russia & other culturally-inspired fantasy settings with a touch of steampunk.

Summary: Clara Stahlbaum is forced to prematurely shelf her ballet career after a severe injury. Feeling lost and alone, the former ballerina leaves the comfort of her home in the countryside to visit the city and help her godfather run his toy shop while she recovers from her mental strife. After encountering a peculiar stranger with wooden hands who speaks of a fairy that can undo all injuries and ailments, Clara is pulled into a plot of curses, tragedy and lost personhood.

Themes: Identity & self worth, loss of humanity, defying fate, vengeance and repressed emotions, hints of unhinged womanhood if you squint.

Introduction & Context

Matryoshka Doll & Wooden Soldiers is a retelling and slight reconstruction of the beloved story The Nutcracker & the Mouse King, taking partial inspiration from the ballet, but is otherwise mostly based on Hoffmann’s original 1816 novel! I’ve been deeply infatuated with this story ever since I watched the animated movie by GoodTimes Entertainment (please tell me someone else watched this as a kid) and the Barbie version when I was little. I’ve since read the original book and been wanting to reconstruct the story into something new! Everything in this post is very much a WIP and subject to change as I develop the story, as it’s still in its first draft!

Inspirations & Vibes

Tchaikovsky’s music and the ballet (naturally), powdered snow, sweet Turkish delight, hot steam from the locomotive swirling in the crisp winter air, scent of gingerbread and mulled wine with cinnamon, winter wonderlands and peppermint candy canes, pastel baroque & rococo aesthetics, white marble with specks of blood, loss of humanity and sense of self, tragic romance, whimsical inventions, old fashioned toy shops filled with wonder, out of tune music box and other antique trinkets, freshly baked Berliner buns, the gritty and dark hiding beneath the prim and proper, prickling fingers on thorns while picking berries.

Main Characters

Clara Stahlbaum (23) she/her

Burnt out gifted kid filled with longing and passions she can no longer pursue, a romantic posing as a cynic to protect her feelings, loves messing with little trinkets and antiques and is kinda a nerd.

Hans Peter (25) he/him

Stoic, intellectualises his feelings, detached yet slightly vain, charming until you realise he’s not aloof for allure’s sake he’s just kinda socially awkward, but hey maybe that’s charming to some.

Godfather Drosselmeyer (52) he/him

Eccentric, mischievous, a bit sketchy but people brush him off as just a quirky old man, secretive, knows a lot and yet literally no one in the city knows anything about him he just showed up one day.

I might make a deep dive post about these characters to go into their psychology and development if that’s something people would be interested in! Deconstructing a character’s psyche is one of my favourite aspects of writing and I’d love to be able to share it. Also I know this seems very heteronormative as a story but I promise there are queer themes brewing beneath the surface here I would die otherwise.

been watching through more of peter capaldi's episodes today and i finally realised why i like twelve so much.

he reminds me of house, from house md. both are grouchy and rude to other people. both twelve and house have a single person that theyre soft and caring with (clara and wilson respectively), and that person acts as a conscience of sorts and both of them regularly barge into their special person's lives to bring them chaos (clara's house or school and wilson's office). despite their grouchiness and dislike of most people, though, they also do anything to save the people in danger and under their care.
