Okay, so I'm fully into my HP obsession again (honestly, I don't care what anyone says or how much the world tries to cancel this fandom. This is my childhood, it's a part of me that's always there and I eventually go back to between the other things) and therefore, the Marauders era's obsession.

And like, I've always loved them for some reason. Honestly, when I found fandoms and stuff and saw they're actually almost a fandom on it's own, I was so happy and relieved that I'm not the only one. (I realised at one point that I love HP yet I've never read a fic that's not about them from this fandom...)

But I've been thinking about some things and also came across some random videos summarizing what we know about them (because there are so many hcs that most people accept as common that it's easy to forget the real facts) and now I have so many thoughts I need to share because they haunt me.

-They were like... Big jerks. Especially James and Sirius. Mostly them, tbh. Like, not only because we see them from Snape's perspective in memories and he hates them but because, well, they were mean. Especially Sirius (he's my absolutely favourite character but still), he's done pretty shitty things. I think James mostly had beef with Snape but they were overall kinda bullies.

-Even though I love Wolfstar just as much as 90% of this fandom (I mean the Marauders era), I think they're a famous ship just because we get to see interactions between them while alive and not just flashbacks but I don't think they were really close back in the days. James and Sirius were the ones extremely close and maybe if we had seen extended Marauders' interactions or they were eventually all alive, then most likely Wolfstar wouldn't have been that popular.

-I'm 99% sure that the great friendship between Lily and Remus is completely fan-made. I believe Remus was the most reasonable (but nobody can convince me he wasn't the mastermind behind 99% of their pranks at the same time) and wasn't into being mean with anyone so it's possible that they were interacting on much better terms than her and James (I mean, until they got together) but I don't think they could have ever been called friends.

-In fact, canonly, Sirius was taller than Remus. (What a shock, right?)

-Lots of people say stuff like "Who was the fifth guy in their dorm?" and there are many theories about it but do we even have a proof that the four of them were in the same dorm at all? Nope.

-Now that's my personal opinion but... I absolutely believe they were really good friends and while at school at least, nobody was left out intentionally but... Maybe Peter betrays them in the end because of some build up stuff throughout the years. We know James and Sirius meet on Hogwarts Express and immediately become best friends. We don't know when Remus and Peter join exactly but it must have been shortly after, I think Peter is pretty much the last who joins. Seeing how some of the people are very good friends, it's a bit hard to truly feel a part of a friend group and might make you feel a bit left out at times (but that's basically a rule in every friend group, tbh. There are the two best friends and well... the other, still close friends).There's also the fact that Peter canonly wears the Sorting hat for over five minutes so here you have another episode of feeling kind of left out. Then later they learn about Remus and they all decide to support him and even learn how to transform and Peter is the last to learn how to do it too. Then even later, James and his family take Sirius in. What I'm trying to say is, we have no canon information of any of them doing anything for Peter and I'm not saying that they weren't good friends, it's just that he was exposed to them doing stuff for each other, and like, really big stuff too (granted, it was really all about helping a friend in a big need) but he was never the center of it + some occasions that might have left him feel kind of uncertain and uneasy about himself like not being sorted for a longer time or needing help to transform. And the result might be feeling emotionally distant from the group and with desire to prove himself worthy of something. So, that's maybe why he finally turns to Voldemort.

-They canonly don't trust Remus much by the end and even suspect he might be Voldemort's spy.

-There is a big chance that Harry and Remus really meet when Harry is 13, meaning that he never saw him as a baby.

-Speaking of feeling left out earlier... I think Remus might have also felt so more often than not. I think they were all into innocent pranks but he wasn't into actively being a jerk, especially considering that he was someone who would have gotten lots of hate if people knew about the werewolf thing. The stupid prank in 5th year must have been a real punch in the gut too. The fact that he gets to stop interacting with them and they even start mistrusting him. Lots of things, really. AND HE STILL NEVER BETRAYED THEM, WAS NEVER A JERK TO ANY OF THEM, AND GOT TO LIVE FOR 12 YEARS BELIEVING THAT ONE OF HIS BEST FRIENDS KILLED THE OTHER TWO!!!

re: the second ask, I started reading Drarry in the early 00s and it remained my main HP ship over the years. But I’ve had multiple OTPs in different fandoms (MCU, 007, SPN, Kingsman, Naruto etc etc) and I’ve been a rare pair champion over the last five years, so I definitely consider myself a multi-shipper these days! My favorites haven’t changed much tbh, I’ve always been a big fan of characters like Teddy, Ron and Sirius, and I still read them today. One fun fact is that I used to ship Ron exclusively with Hermione and couldn’t picture the Golden Trio dynamic in a romantic/sexual way. But today this triad has become my comfort ship, and I’m very much into Harry/Ron and Dronarry as well. i absolutely back this toxic wife-swap, because i - quite correctly - back literally any configuration of malfoy/weasley pairing, since the two families are narrative mirrors, and mirror-pairings are always hot.

which is to say, while narcissa clearly doesn't have a clue what a saucepan is, and arthur's not getting his eight fried eggs every morning while she's staying at the burrow [which, tbh, might be good for his heart...], she would actually drop into the narrative role molly fulfils [more conventional than, and therefore slightly isolated from, the rest of the family] fairly well.

so yes, go on, i'll back it. i think lucius decided to slum it in his youth - à la common people - and yaxley was his bit of rough. it was fine for about three days, but it flopped the second lucius revealed that the each of the peacocks cost as much as yaxley's monthly food budget.

AU Jegulus fic twist on Percy Jackson. Although I will say, none of them will be matching the actual seven like the parents will be different and will fit the characters like how I imagine they’d fit. Basically all I’m adding in is the marauders being demigods with a very VERY loose similarity to the seven💀

James would be Percy, but not the son of Poseidon. I mean this like, James is the one that would pull everyone together and make things go in motion, he’d be the one to challenge the gods because he recognizes that they’re shitty. His fatal flaw would be his loyalty (because it fucking was.) James is definitely the son of Apollo tho, I literally couldn’t make it any other way cause like James Potter is the Sun. But I do think Euphemia would be Sally and Fleamont would be Apollo but acts like Poseidon (ie simp for Sally) or Fleamont would be Paul because he’s stable and supportive. And I like Paul. Although, I think the Annabeth to his Percy would be (obvi) Regulus!

Regulus wouldn’t be the son of Athena, although he could be tbh, I see him more as a nico type variant. So, if SoAngelo was Percabeth basically 🫠 Regulus fits this vibe because he’s an emo boy who can’t swim. But also, because he’d definitely be the one to have trauma and a mixed up background. I think he’d still have Nico’s background and Sirius would act as Bianca, as in they both come from 1940’s Italian background and ended up in a fucking casino for years.

With that, I kinda see Remus as the son of Athena. He’d be the Annabeth in the planning and he’d be the one to make sure James’ dumbass stayed alive😂. I like the idea of making Peter be either a Satyr and friend like Grover or like Luke and be a friend turned enemy. Sirius would be the Thalia of the situation, mixed with a bit of Bianca (kinda?)

What I mean by that is that Sirius and Regulus would have different fathers but the same mom. They’d still be targeted but it’s because they’re the sons of Zeus and Hades respectively. I think this is because Sirius gives me electric vibes, he fits the son of Zeus. Regulus on the other hand is the dark one, the one that everyone kinda shuns a bit. So, in this setting, Sirius and Regulus wouldve both been hunted by Zeus in this AU (major reason why James has beef w Zeus) and Hades would’ve helped his son and sent them both to the casino to save them. But!! They get out earlier than in the series, they end up being lead out by one of the fates (ig??) because of the Great Prophecy that has James and Regulus as a key part, as well as our Luke variant, The Prophecy would be different because of this and because of my need to have fate force Starchaser to have a happy ending 🙃 anyway, so they get out and meet Remus, Barty (Luke) and Peter (Grover) on the way, right? So, ya know how that story goes. Only difference is that Remus and Peter are best friends and Remus had a crush on Sirius during their time spent together trying to find Camp Half-Blood. Then, right as they’re reaching the gates, the Cyclops comes and Sirius sacrifices himself for Regulus, this makes Zeus pissed because fuck that was his kid actually, so he turns him into a pine tree. Regulus ends up blaming himself for getting his brother killed and becomes a recluse tbh who only really talks to Barty. He doesn’t get claimed until James gets there and they end up getting claimed at the same time (prophecy things) which the first great prophecy would go something like this:

A half-blood of the eldest god

Shall reach sixteen against all odds,

And see the world in endless sleep.

Son of the Sun, his life and heart he shall keep,

The hero’s soul, cursed blade shall reap,

A single choice shall end his days

Olympus to preserve or raze.

I feel like changing it to the eldest god instead of gods would be limiting it to Hades and with the Son of the Sun, yeah. This would make Zeus and the rest of them change the oath to make it include Apollo (or it could be that they tried to make it just Apollo and Hades but no way in hell Hades would let that slide so celibacy for all four)

Regulus would start to warm up to James after he saved Sirius’ tree, which brought Sirius back to life. And I feel like James and Sirius would but heads a bit especially after Sirius learns that Regulus and James are the ones from the prophecy and Sirius wouldn’t like James at first because he’s scared that James could lead to his brothers death. This changes when Regulus is kidnapped in the Titans Curse. The Hunters would be hard to mix in ngl cause I could make them the girls but I also want the girls to play bigger parts to the story and I feel like the Hunt kinda doesn’t play that big of a part. Because of that, idk who to make Bianca cause Sirius isn’t dying after being brought back😀 I’m thinking we make Bianca be either Emmeline and have Mary blame James for not keeping her gf safe and then have her confide in Lily. Anyway, James stopping at nothing to save Regulus!! I also think James would be powerful as fuck because of this theory I have that the less children a god have = to more powerful kids idk why but it’s something I think ab a lot regarding the actual seven. James would have Photokinesis and Heliokinesis as well as a lot of the powers listed under the Apollo cabins power list (I can’t choose😭) although I mostly say this because I’m gonna hc that Euphemia is a demigod herself, or a legacy, she’s one of the few Greek ones that lived long enough to live semi peacefully in the moral world. Her godly parent is Hecate so that makes James hymns and magic in general just cranked up. It’s why he’s a major player in the war because he comes from an extremely powerful line of legacies (Potter is his mother last name and there’s been records of many, many of the family being demigods)(he doesn’t find this out until later) the Potters being descended from the Peverell brothers in the HP universe just always makes me think that the Potters have a lot more magical power than Rowling gave them so I’m gonna give that power to James in this au😄

James and Regulus holding the sky together!!!! This one is important to me, idk why, but it is. And their grey hair wouldn’t go away randomly in the series, it’d stay there! I feel like this moment would be when Regulus realizes he’s fallen for James because while he was taken, his faith that James would save him never wavers and that’s a big thing for him, that hope in another person, but it’s because he knows who James is. However, he never expects James to help him hold the sky. There’s a difference than simply going after a friend and going against a goddess’s warning (Artemis definitely told her nephew to not take the sky because she would rather her nephew be safe than anything) and shouldering the weight of the world for them. This is the moment he realizes he loves James. He doesn’t tell him, of course 🙄 James had loved regulus since the beginning, it never seemed like something he had to realize. Since the moment he came to the camp and Regulus’ dark grey eyes met James’ own amber colored ones, James knew he was meant to be there. James knew their entire lives were leading up to that moment. Of course, he’s also the son of Apollo and literally has prophecy related powers so he could probably feel the actual strings of fate that tied them together. Which is why he made it his mission to annoy Regulus into friendship on the first day. James doesn’t tell Regulus this until the Labyrinth, when Regulus gets jealous of flaming red hair and emerald green eyes that belong to Lily Evans, someone James felt a strange pull to (because she’s meant to be the oracle🤭) which leads to Regulus getting injured and James thanking his father for passing on his healing powers because he came tell Regulus how he feels in a intimate, cliche moment.

Which, this leads my man Regulus on a mission to find a way to protect James. Thus, he stumbles upon the Curse of Achilles and that whole plot plays out with the exception that James would only go through with it if Regulus did too. Except James wouldn’t choke Regulus like Percy did (even tho Percy was justified ngl) he’d def be heartbroken tho thinking his love had betrayed him, ofc he forgives him once Reggie explains. Once they both submerge into the river and come out again, they get visited by the three fates because ofc 🙄 and basically because they both were used the other to ground themselves to their human side, the fates decide to drop that one can’t live without the other. That should Regulus or James get stuck in their Achilles spot, they’d both die. (Son of the Sun, his heart and life he shall keep)

This would definitely lead to James and Barty fighting and Barty highkey bout to end it when Regulus interrupts with the, “Family, Barty. You promised.”

Then, once the war was over and they go back to camp half-blood, Regulus kisses James and admits to his love for him. And then, James goes missing and three new half-bloods turn up. James would only be able to remember Regulus and would be the one to get everyone on his side 🤣 Octavian would soooo be Snape. I feel like it’s funny asf because of how much Octavian hated Percy and it’s even better that James is the prophesied Son of Apollo and Snape is a legacy. He’d be so pissed that James’ powers are stronger 💀💀

Then Mark of Athena, I was gonna have Sirius and Remus fall instead of James and Regulus but I thought better of it because imagine Regulus seeing James snap in Tartarus. It freaking Regulus out to the point that he begs him never to do it again. ( either uses his plague and sickness power or sun powers to fuck up Akhlys)

Like I can so see that Regulus would save Remus from the web that was wrapped on his foot by manipulating the earth with his power, only to slip and fall into the hole which lead to James jumping to grab him and Sirius grabbing James. James would make Sirius promise to get the others to the other side. And then they’d fall. Regulus and James would cling to each other and James would so use his power to keep Regulus warm (he let it slip that he hates the underground because it makes him feel cold, like the dead)

Venison

This is an odd little short story. Not entirely sure how to rate it. SFW but sort of dark humour type thing. Implied character death. Not going to give specific content warning, because I don't want to spoil it (though the title sort of gives it away). Not for the very squeamish perhaps, but nothing too bad.

TBH I had this idea a couple weeks ago, but I think it fits well with the snapetober prompt #4 Full Moon :)

Set in Marauders era around 5th/6th year. Less than 1k.

‘Evening Moony.’ Sirius grins, hopping over the bench and plonking himself between his two friends. ‘Wormtail.’ He pats the smaller boy on the back.

‘You know I don’t really like that nickname.’ Peter mutters quietly.

‘Nobody likes Sirius’ nicknames.’ Remus comments. ‘But it looks like we’re stuck with them now.’ Thanks to that infernal bloody map. He does not add.

They had said it was just for sneaking out to help Remus on the full moon, which had seemed a very kind and noble thing to do, at least from Remus’ perspective. But then of course both James and Sirius insisted that they “test” the map out by using it to spy on Lily and hunt down Snape.

‘You’re looking better.’ Sirius says then, seeming genuinely caring of Remus’ physical state, and any notion of thinking bad of him is whisked away.

‘Yes thanks.’ Remus smiles back.

‘Where’s James though, gone to try it on with Lily again?’ Sirius rolls his eyes.

‘I haven’t seen him.’ Remus shrugs.

‘Oh, we thought he must be with you?’ Sirius frowns. ‘We haven’t seen him all day have we Peter?’

‘Hmm. That’s odd.’ Remus comments, though he is rather more bothered about when the food is going to appear, he’s bloody starving.

‘Are you sure you haven’t seen him at all?’ Sirius presses. ‘I hope he got back alright last night.’

‘Didn’t you all come back together?’

‘No…’ Sirius bites his lip. ‘We… sort of got separated.’ He admits.

‘All of us?’ Remus scowls, suddenly much more invested in the conversation.

Sirius just shrugs and gives him those puppy dog eyes.

‘The only reason I agreed to this is that you’re supposed to keep an eye on me… it… the wolf.’ Remus drops his voice to a whisper.

‘Don’t worry Moony it happens all the time and you haven’t eaten anyone yet!’ Sirius jokes.

‘That’s not funny Sirius.’ Remus bites out. ‘It’s dangerous, this is life and death, I thought you’d learned your lesson…’

Their argument is interrupted by Hagrid’s hearty laugh booming across the hall, and they all turn around.

‘Oh, perhaps I’ll ask Hagrid if he’s seen Prongs…’ Sirius starts, but then they all stop and stare as the source of the gamekeeper’s laughter is revealed to be none other than Severus Snape. And it wasn’t in a laughing at him sort of way; the two seemed to be enjoying a rather jovial conversation.

‘What the…’ Sirius trails off.

Hagrid and Snape are gesticulating wildly, frowning nodding, smiling, and laughing.

‘Snape’s been helping him with the creatures and that.’ Remus comments, turning back to the table as the food has just appeared.

It is a delicious looking roast of red meat, roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots, and Yorkshire puddings. Remus digs in immediately, shoving a whole roast potato in his mouth, whilst simultaneously pouring gravy over everything on his plate.

‘Since when was Snivellus into magical creatures? He doesn’t even take that class.’ Sirius mutters, slowly turning around. Peter is making quick work of his dinner too, and Sirius starts cutting up his food at a more sedate pace.

‘I think they’ve been going in the forest together.’ Remus says around a mouthful of food. ‘I guess he gets potions ingredients in exchange for helping out.’

‘Well that makes more sense.’ Sirius shrugs. ‘Mmm. This is good.’ He says. ‘What meat is this?’

Remus suddenly stops chewing. In the back of his mind he’d been wondering too. It’s something he’d not had for a while, though he wasn’t sure why, and then it hits him.

‘Oh Merlin.’ He mumbles, looking down at his plate. The meat is pinker than beef, it has a denser texture, and a distinctive earthy flavour. He drops his knife and fork suddenly having lost his appetite.

‘Venison.’ He states.

Looking around the room not everyone has the red meat. Most of the other students seem to have chicken, though he can see both Dumbledore and McGonagall seem to also have Venison.

‘Hmm, what’s that again? It’s rather good isn’t it?’ Sirius comments, taking another bite.

‘No…’ Remus can only rasp. Peter has stopped eating too, and is looking very pale.

‘What?’ Sirius looks between his two friends. ‘What’s wrong with… oh.’

The realisation hits him like a brick, or a cauldron, or perhaps the engine of the Hogwarts Express.

Deer. That’s what Venison is. He turns around slowly, the room almost spinning as the bile rises in his throat.

Across the room Severus Snape is now sitting at the Slytherin table grinning at them. He is in the last place at the end, and next to him on the table is a quiver of arrows and a longbow. Sirius watches in horror as Snape lifts his fork, a dark pink slice of meat speared on the end. Snape gives them a little nod, then pops the venison into his mouth.

He chews slowly smiling at them the whole time.

OR... if you could make one of your headcanons popularly accepted in fandom what would that be?

hmmmm honestly casanova remus. i can get behind most hcs but something about this one just... i can't. maybe it's bc i joined the fandom with the image of cardigan-wearing, shy loser remus already in my head so when i saw "casanova remus" i was like huh??? also i feel like casanova remus specifically was the start of bery ooc characterization and just making shit up that clearly contradicts what we know of the characters and i've had beef with him ever since. he can catch these hands

and i have SO many hcs i wish people would agree with me on but they go against the most popular fanon interpretations so </33 if i had to choose one it would probably be walburga and her relationship with sirius/regulus bc the way i see them is basically the opposite of the most popular interpretation. sirius was his mother's boy and regulus was the spare that could never live up to the expectations walburga had set (based on sirius' talent). and also she wasn't a heartless monster??? she was a mother, not a good one but a mother nonetheless. her role should be explored more

(tbh i'd like to change the way fandom views the black family in general. it feels very black and white to me and all the characters have been stripped of any complex traits so we can clearly separate the 'good' ones from the rest. it ruins the fun of it all for me)

just a few reasons why i hate severus snape

alright, sorry to start any beef but i have a lot of feelings regarding snape

so here are the following reasons that i hate the sorry excuse of a man, just off the top of my head:

- to put it quite plainly, i think that james and lily would’ve lived (or at least lived longer) if it weren’t for snape. he overheard the prophecy and decided to be a little bitch and tattle to voldemort. if he hand’t told voldemort about what he had heard then voldemort probably wouldn't have gone after the potters, meaning that they probably wouldn’t have died. read that again. severus snape is the reason that harry potter was an orphan, and he still had the AUDACITY to be such a dick to harry. 

- lets say that voldemort didn't go after james and lily... snape most likely wouldn’t have ever turned against him, as lily wouldn’t have been targeted. he would’ve remained one of the most loyal death eaters. the same applies to if voldemort went after neville and his parents. i can’t see snape being a good person because he didn’t give two shits about all the other murder and torture of muggleborns. he only cared about himself and his gross obsession with a woman who rejected him years and years earlier. 

- he was so immature. i mean, bullying harry only because he reminded him of his childhood bully? in no way do i condone james’s behavior, but honestly grow up. just because he was picked on as a child does not give him the right to bully other children AS A GROWN ADULT. i mean, for gods sake that’s so messed up. 

-he outed remus because he didn’t get his way, knowing it would ruin his life but just wanted to be a petty lil bitch. what the hell. he did that deliberately knowing the consequences and that the chances of it ruining remus’s life were high, but he was mad that he didn’t get his way, so he threw a tantrum like a child. (for the record, at this point he knew that sirius was innocent and didn’t deserve the dementors kiss or all those years in azkaban, but he was still petty and bitter because they hated each other in school. grow tf up you’re like 34 now dude get over it)

- not only did he harass students and played intense favoritism, he was neville’s biggest fear. neville’s parents were tortured into insanity by death eaters and his family treated him like shit, i mean he has a shit ton of trauma before coming to hogwarts, but severus snape was his biggest fear??? are you kidding me???? do you know how FUCKED up it is that SEVERUS SNAPE, his TEACHER, was his biggest fear???? 

- um do we even need to get into how death eaters are an allegory for literal nazi’s and white supremacists??? like do i need to elaborate on why it isn’t appropriate to glorify any of the people who were involved in any way with that??? i don't care that “hE wAs SoRrY!!!!” and that he “cHaNgEd HiS wAyS!!!” He didn’t turn against voldemort because he was bothered by the what was pretty much a genocide of an entire blood race. oh no, if that were the case then snape would’ve betrayed voldemort long before he did. snape had an issue with the fact that voldemort was targeting the woman he loved, not an innocent life. so forgive me for not tolerating people for glorifying essentially a white supremacist. i see too much of that in my own country already. 

i suppose that i just really hate the glorification of the man. i completely do not understand it, and quite frankly i see a lot of similarities in the way that trump supporters glorify trump, to the way that some snape apologist glorify snape.

i understand that he is an interesting character, and you can’t argue that he isn’t. he’s complex and i understand the thinking behind that, but why or how the hell would you even want to excuse the behavior of a pure blood supremacist. again, i see too much of that in my country already. 

the fact that so many snape apologists have to excuse every single thing that snape did and can’t admit anything that he did wrong is so messed up. i don’t give two shits that he loved lily, love doesn’t excuse being a shitty, fucked up person. i've been in love before. but i can still admit when i wasn’t a good person and when i did some pretty messed up things. love does not excuse behavior. someone who was a horrible person loved me once, and never tried to treat me poorly. just because that person loved me, doesn't make it okay that he was a super horrible person. and just because he treated me well, doesn’t mean that he was a good person. he was an asshole to everyone else, especially marginalized groups of people (*cough cough* like snape), so i still think he’s a shitty person. even though he treated me well and loved me. if i ever catch anyone glorifying him, even though he’s matured a bit, i get pissed. because love doesn’t excuse behavior and just because he loved me doesn’t mean that he wasn’t a shitty person. the same applies to snape.

if jkr (fuck her too tbh) wanted me to like snape then she should’ve come up with a better character arc than “lol i wanted to bang ur mom harry”

“For the record, I have always firmly been Team Ginny.”

“And that’s why you’re my favorite, Mia,” Ginny told her as they hit the ground.

Harry rolled his eyes at his girlfriend. “She’s your favorite? Really? Then what am I?”

“A close second. Which is more than what I can say for your standing in this match.” Ginny flashed him a smile as she and Mia high-fived in their victory. 

Ron laughed as he threw his broom to the side and plopped down on the grass next to where Hermione, who was supposed to be playing ref but was really engrossed in a book, was sitting. “It’s nice seeing her team up with someone against you instead of me, for once,” he said to Harry as he stretched out.

“Oh, shut it,” Harry retorted, putting his Firebolt to the side. “She’s going after you, too. We both just lost.”

“Lighten up,” said Ginny, sliding up to Harry and wrapping an arm around his waist, lifting herself up on her toes to plant a brief kiss to the corner of his mouth. “At least you have us on your side for actual matches at school, otherwise you’d never lay your eyes on that silver Cup.”

“Need I remind you,” Harry began, putting his arm around her shoulders. “You are looking at the youngest Seeker in a century, who also happened to win the Cup in my third year, before you were on the team,” he looked pointedly at Ginny, before turning his attention to his little sister, “and a year before you were even at Hogwarts!”

“Merlin, you’re sounding like Dad,” Mia noted with a scoff, running a hand through her shoulder-length, jet black hair. Her facial features mostly resembled those of her mother, especially when they were sharp and narrowed at her brother in annoyance, but she got her father’s dark hair and hazel eyes. “And Mum thought she knocked the arrogance out of this bloodline!”

Harry scowled as they all laughed. “It was a mistake to allow you two to be teammates. You’re lucky I even let you on the team, Mia. I was accused of nepotism!”

“You’re lucky to have her,” Ginny came to her defense, pinching Harry’s side. “She was the only Beater who could fill Fred and George’s shoes, and you know it.”

Harry sighed playfully, having to give that to her. “Perhaps.”

Mia stuck out her tongue at her brother, then said, “Thanks, Ginny” as she beamed at her. “But seriously, it wasn’t just me who was Team Ginny for Harry’s romantic pursuits. Do you know how annoyed Dad was that Harry became a Seeker and I became a Beater? The audacity of his own genetics to not produce him another Chaser.”

“I’m sure he wasn’t annoyed,” Hermione said, closing her book. “He’s proud of the both of you.”

“To an extent,” Mia corrected her. “But Ginny graciously allowing Harry to date her-”

“Hey, she fancied me first!” Harry interjected proudly, pulling Ginny closer to his side. She looked up at him and smiled.

“-opens up the possibility for a Chaser to marry into the family, and then Dad will finally be able to have the pride and joy of which he’s always dreamed.”

Harry’s face turned bright red, but Ginny just snickered, unfazed. “Your Dad does have some good Chaser tips, I have to give him that.”

“Why thank you, young Weasley.” They all turned to see James Potter walking through the screen door into the yard, floating five cold bottles of butterbeer in front of him, flicking them lazily into each of their hands. “Lily and I were watching from the window while preparing lunch. Boys, that was utterly pathetic.”

“Be fair, Dad,” said Mia, taking a sip of her drink. “It’s not their fault they were so unevenly matched against us.”

“You have a point,” he agreed.

Harry groaned, lifting his arm off Ginny’s shoulders and using the back of his hand to wipe the sweat off his forehead. “Whose side are you on, anyway?” 

“The winning side, of course,” James responded. “But I love all my children equally.”

Lily came out next, sending a platter of sandwiches towards the outdoor table. “Why don’t you lot eat before you bite each others’ heads off. And don’t worry, Ron, no corned beef.”

“You’re the best, Mrs. Potter,” Ron told her, jumping up and quickly perusing the sandwich selection. 

“Good way to refuel for the next time you get your arse kicked,” Ginny smirked at Harry as she strode towards the table, Harry following closely behind her.

“What if you did a Potter versus Weasley match?” James suggested, amused. “Unless you want in on this one, Hermione.”

“Oh, no, I’m fine,” Hermione insisted kindly. 

“What do you think, Harry?” asked Mia. “It pains me to turn on Ginny, but I think we could take them.”

Harry smiled at his sister. “They’ve got no chance.”

Ginny crossed her arms. “So you have no problem turning on me?”

“I would never turn on you,” Harry proclaimed, feigning innocence.

“We’ll see about that, big shots. Right, Ron?”

“Hm?” Ron mumbled as he took another large bite out of his turkey sandwich.

Hermione gave him a look of disgust as Ginny groaned, grabbing her own plate.

Lily came up next to them and sighed. “Hermione, why don’t you take a break from refereeing for this lot?”

“Oh, I don’t know...”

“Forrest Gump is going to be on telly in five minutes. We could watch inside with air conditioning.”

Hermione smiled, finally standing up. “Ooh, I love that film!”

“Grab a sandwich and come to the living room.”

Hermione obliged but Ron objected. “Hey, that’s our ref you’re taking!”

“I can ref,” James volunteered eagerly. 

“You’re not impartial,” Ron pointed out.

“Yeah, he’s partial in your favor,” Mia said begrudgingly, sitting down next to her father, leaning her head against his shoulder. “Didn’t we just tell you? He likes Ginny the best.”

James ruffled his daughter’s hair then tugged her to his side. “Oh, stop being ridiculous.”

“I get it from you.”

“Yes, yes, ridiculousness runs in this family,” Lily said impatiently, ushering Hermione into the cottage. “Sirius should be here in about fifteen minutes, so eat your lunch and once you finish, your actual impartial ref will have arrived. By the time Hermione and I are done watching the film it’ll be time to set up for the party, so you have until then, but maybe try finishing up a bit before so you can all shower.”

“Sounds good, Mum,” Harry told her, smiling. “Thanks for lunch.”

“Of course, my love,” she replied, walking over to him and kissing the top of his head. She turned around and entered the house with Hermione. 

As soon as the door closed, Harry turned excitedly to his father. “Is Sirius coming on the bike? Do you think Mum will finally let me ride it on my own? She always said when I turned 17...”

“You have my permission, but I don’t know if that really counts for much,” James said. “I’ll fight for you, though.”

Mia snorted next to him, jealousy written all over her face. “Anything for the birthday boy-”

“Excuse me,” Harry cut in. “Birthday man.”

Ron and Mia chortled, and he looked to Ginny for support. She looked him up and down and put a consoling hand on his shoulder as she said, “Eh. Debatable.”

Opinion on true love: Is skeptical and has a hard time accepting that a person could ever love him for himself and not for his connection/ riches. He’s extremely wary of people who vide for his affections and more than not will attempt at pushing them away. Depending on the age that he’s at when this is happening there will be various levels of success.

Opinion on love at first sight: in his own words… “Complete and utter hippogriff shit,” He thinks it’s ridiculous and is more likely to believe it was lust at first sight then love. He believes a relationship has to grow from friendship to something more to be true love as what can a relationship be if you’re not friends with the person?

How ‘Romantic’ are they?: Depends on the day and where they’re at- He’s more likely to be overly romantic in private than in public though. He’s not one to do large gestures of his love as he thinks it’s too flashy and hates having people sticking their noses into his love life. His love life is a private affair, though he will do more public things to prove a point to others if they are trying to flirt with his significant other while he’s standing right there.  

Ideal physical traits: Truthfully he’s able to see the beauty in everyone and even in things that others might see as ugly or unsightly. He has a like for scars freckles and stretch marks, he’ll make it a habit to press kisses to them. He adores soft hair and has the tendency to comb his fingers through his lover’s hair. Average relationship length: Is very likely to try to hold on to a relationship until the end. Will only let go if he’s aware of the emotional decay and wouldn’t want his partner to leave on bitter terms. When breaking up with a partner I feel like more times then not both parties are able to be friendly with each other after some time apart.

Any secrets that have been told Gladion will keep to the grave even if they break up and Gladion expects the same from his partner. If his secrets are revealed or his partner cheated on him then sorry buddy your own secrets will be put on blast so everyone and their mothers in France would hear about it....

Preferred non-sexual intimacy: He’s a pretty handsy guy once his partner gives the okay for it. More likely than not in public he’ll always have a hand on them wherever they go,( Hand holding, hand on their back, an arm around their waist etc. ) In private he’s a bit of a tease with his touches ( they’re feathery light and prone to make a person shiver ) and has a tendency to whisper sweet nothings into their ear as they snuggle.

Commitment level: Ride or die kinda man when he’s with a trustworthy partner. Loyal to a fault with eyes only for them, ( unless they both talked extensively with bringing another person in on their relationship ) He’s willing to do almost anything for them if they only ask him of it. Opinion of public affection: If he’s the one doing the affectionate teasing he’ll be smug along with a tad prideful at his partner’s reactions. Now if the tables are turned he will be completely and utterly embarrassed by their actions. He’s the very epitome of unable to take what he dishes out. Past relationships?: None in the default verse. Really his default verse is quiet sad, he’s all alone and I feel so bad... Though a lot of my default verses I don’t give my character friends- partly because if I pick a canon character to be their friend I don’t want someone else who plays that character to feel pressured into being friends with my character. The same line of thought to the romantic side of things, which is why more then not they have never dated anyone else before.

The Marauders

Let’s call this ‘The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly’

A lot of people out there call out Snape and more or less deify James Potter especially and the Marauders in general. I’ve already said my piece (several times) regarding Snape, so … what do I think of the Marauders?

They’re rather a mixed bag, to be honest.

Peter Pettigrew: There is … literally nothing good to be said about Peter. He was a coward, a quisling, a traitor and just generally an awful human being. I know there is zero proof of anything in canon, but the fact this bastard had uncontested access to the Weasley kids for twelve years gives me the willies. The *potential* for the shite he could have pulled is downright horrific and quite frankly, I’d not put it past him, because let’s be real. Hexing a toddler (Percy was what, five, when he found Scabbers? Ish?) would be about Peter’s speed.

Remus Lupin: By far the least problematic of the Marauders. My biggest beef with him is the fact that, despite being a Prefect, he clearly made no effort to reign in his buddies. As an adult he mostly got his head out of his ass, though he continued to have rather understandable issues re: his lycanthropy.

Sirius Black: Oh boy. On the one hand: Sirius was willing to kill and die for Harry. He lived in a cave for a YEAR to be closer to Harry during the whole Triwiz fiasco. I sincerely believe Sirius loved Harry with everything in him. Sirius was willing to call Dumbledore on his shit, and also to ignore Dumbledore’s ‘orders’ in favor of giving Harry, you know, life-or-death info.

On the other hand. This is the guy who, as a teenager, was willing to commit what would have ended up as a double murder or a suicide/murder if things had gone any differently. Because if werewolf-Remus had mauled and/or killed Snape … yeah. That … would have ended SO BADLY. Remus would either have ended up committing suicide in horrified shame or have been put down as a dangerous werewolf. So yeah. Also, Sirius had zero problems hunting, hounding, and bullying a fellow student for the crime of (per canon) EXISTING.

James Potter: And here we come to the crux of the matter. The ‘paragon of virtue’ compared to Snape. Which … yeah. No.

The only good things that can be *canonically* confirmed re: James as good things are his willingness to become an Animagus in support of Remus and his willingness to die to defend his wife and child. That’s it.

This is the guy who, as a kid, saw a visibly-poor fellow student on the train that (le gasp, the horror!) wanted into Slytherin House and spent the next six years (very probably all seven) hunting, hounding, and bullying said student relentlessly again, for the (canonically, from his own goddamned mouth in a memory) crime of EXISTING.

This is the guy who relentlessly catcalled and harassed Lily Evans (I’d go so far as to call it sexual harassment, TBH) trying to get her to date him for six years.

And given the canon existence of things like the Obliviate spell and Amortentia (among other options), I DO NOT accept Lily finally dating him as a sign he grew the fuck up in seventh year and became a better person. Quite frankly, I find her sudden 180 regarding James suspicious as fuck, considering he DID in fact spend six years harassing the fuck out of her.

i want to justify remadora and my girl tonks here because i believe jkr was really vague during hbp and really put people off shipping remadora, which is such a shame:((

also, please don’t respond negatively, read the whole thing i pinkie promise i’m not being mean to anyone here!! :,)

tonks wasn’t “depressed” that whole year during hbp just because remus “wouldn’t love her.” she was stressed as all hell just like every other bloody person in the book because this was her first time being in the battle field during the war, and things were really starting to pick up. her favorite cousin (who she had probably grown very close to during that previous year) died, totally unexpectedly. + with sirius’s death: she was dueling bellatrix before she fell down the steps !! it was mentioned that she ACTUALLY thought it was her fault that sirius died! imagine living with that guilt. imagine waking up in the hospital and being told that your cousin was killed by the person you’d been dueling before you were hexed down a flight of concrete steps. on top of that, finding out that the man that you love (and who you know loves you) is going on a goddamn dangerous mission that could very well get himself killed. killed. imagine sitting there and wondering if he was alive, but not being able to even know. that’s why she rushed to dumbledore when she heard about the werewolf attack. she wanted to know that remus was still alive. plus, there is NO evidence whatsoever that says she was pushing remus into a relationship, or begging for his affection or being needy or whatever. unless you consider completely avoiding a person for an entire year being needy. she went out of her way to get away from remus the entire year, for god’s sake. the night dumbledore died, she knew remus was at the end of his tether. but so was she. so was everyone else. she spoke up about their relationship because she knew that if he let her in, it would be so much better for him than being alone in the world. facing things together is better than facing things alone. she needed remus to know that he wasn’t alone, that he still had her to give all his love to and be loved by. he needed to know that she loved him, and wasn’t going to give up on him like others had in his lifetime, or like he had constantly expected others to. that he was worth fighting for. she wanted to show him that he didn’t need to distance himself from people he cared for because he was afraid of hurting them. that whole spiel in the hospital room came out all wrong because of the stress of the situation, but it convinced remus that maybe he didn’t need to space himself out from everyone. and look how happy he was towards the middle/end of dh?

-plus a little more on my thoughts on remus during hbp/dh: lord, this man has been through everything imaginable in his lifetime. everyone who loved him in the past died, and he was alone for twelve years. he had no idea that someone could love him as wholly and completely as tonks did. he was so, so terrified that the same would happen to tonks, who was young and whole and new to the whole war thing. he didn’t want her to become a mess like himself. he didn’t want her to have to suffer like he had to his entire life. he thought he would rather die than to let her be hurt. because she was that important to him.

but i, personally, think he was so wrapped up in his idea that he would make everything worse that he hadn’t even considered that maybe, they could handle everything better together?

tonks didn’t want to push remus, of all people. she wanted him to know that he deserves happiness, just like every human being. because above all things, he was a man, not just a werewolf, he was a human being who deserved to be loved and cherished and put first.

and i get if you think this couple is random. personally, i think the differences between them and the fact that tonks is the baddie-catching, total badass auror and he’s the quiet nerdy teacher guy is what makes me love them. their quirkiness is what i think is cool and different. opposites attract, am i right? plus, it’s hard to believe that tonks would avoid remus so much if nothing had happened between them the previous year. i once saw an au where they met in poa and i love it. i think it would have made more sense if they’d been seen in more personal situations, tbh. sure, they’re always mentioned together, but come on, jo? we know harry’s pretty unobservant when it comes to other people, but we could have had at least a few scenes snuck in. cough cough, i’d love at order spinoff that shows what goes behind the scenes, but i won’t speak for fear that another cursed child will happen—

***also, i don’t have any beef whatsoever against wolfstar—far from it, i really don’t mind it at all!

but please, don’t harass tonks or remadora shippers because remadora was portrayed so badly both in the books and movies!! hate really sucks, and you know how protective we are of our ships in the hp fandom hahaha. but everyone who denies remadora says it’s a lot because tonks was being whiny, which i don’t think is at all what jo wanted to put across during hbp. tonks wasn’t depressed or lovesick or whiny. she was emotionally detached and completely stressed out, and lost her powers just like someone would lose energy, or focus, or willpower in that kind of situation. i’ve been in tonks’s shoes—well, not exactly, but i’ve had some dark times because i didn’t have anything to hold on to or hope for, just like she did, and as a result everything went downhill. we all say things in our desperation and anxiety and stress, and i think that’s what the hospital scene was. if i was in her shoes, i would have lost my powers the second i learned that sirius died, and the war was actually beginning. i respect her strength to keep doing her duties at hogsmeade with everything going on in the wizarding world. i wish i’d had that strength to keep pulling forward as strongly as tonks (and remus, of course) had behind the scenes.

i will forever be upset that jkr didn’t make this noticeable during hbp, and instead made her seem like a whiny, lovesick depressed woman, and that is NOT at ALL the character that tonks is.

nymphadora tonks was not weak. she was a total badass who made it through that god-awful year and still kept marching with her head high, and that is why i will forever love her character.
