Is it though? Gender roles aren’t really explored or emphasised that much in fma. And women combat soldiers/warriors are not all that common either. Olivier Armstrong is the only high ranking woman we know. There are no known female state alchemists. Most background female soldiers are office staff who wear skirts, communication operators and support roles like that. Snipers are in a combat role sure, but there is even real life historic president for that role being filled by women in cultures and past times that were certainly not in any way progressive or feminist at all.

Roy having a female guard and assistant who he’s close with is interesting. But it’s never really pointed out as anything of note at all. Any eyebrow raising they might get is more to do about their close relationship, not about Riza being female specifically.

I do think it’s fun and interesting though, that Riza is really not much of a warrior fighter. She is trained in hand-to-hand combat (see any spinoff game) and can use knifes, but she seems to only use it as a last resort. And in the manga she always looses pretty fast LOL. Fighting will buy her time and she would win against someone untrained or not expecting it... but I’d still bet on Lanfan, if they were to fairly fight.

unsolicited advice warning i am Very sorry. please feel free to disregard, this is just something that i really could have used when i couldn't understand Why i couldn't will myself to do even simple things.

you are not weak willed, there is just something your brain and/or body is prioritizing ahead of creating. food, sleep, and comfort (background pain, needing the bathroom, being in a place where people you don't trust are around, etc.) are the usual culprits i can think of. Background stress makes people less able to handle foreground stress, bc their attention is too divided. if the thing of not being able to Do without a deadline is a constant, some caffeine may help (listen I'm not trying to internet diagnose you with adhd, just that pattern is one i know Very well).

basically. be gentle with yourself, your you is doing the very best it can <3
