From The Complete Works of Piers Q MacBean, volume 8, Despatches From a Dark Cupboard (or Closet)
I have to assume that the memories I find in this dark cupboard have been left here by their real owners. How I am able to recall them as my own, I cannot say, but how else to explain my remembrance of being in the Brown Derby on Wilshire Boulevard, when I have never been in Hollywood in my life?
The restaurant was almost deserted at that time of day. The well-known bit-part player Irving Bacon was seated alone at a large table, on which papers were scattered untidily. He beckoned me to join him.
"You can be the first to see this," he said, as I sat at his table. The tall actor gathered together some sheets, which I could now see were covered with calculations. "I have come up with a new way of measuring the stature of Hollywood actors. I'm going to call it the Bacon Scale."
He leant back, and adopted a pedagogical tone. "Until now, our assessment of the stars has been largely subjective. There is, of course, the matter of salaries, but I would contend that that is a secondary value, that only reflects the studios' assessment of a star's value, which must ultimately be derived from the audience's subjective likes and dislikes. Is that not so?"
I nodded agreement, and he continued. "The Bacon Scale is based on objective measurable quantities. First, the number of screen appearances made by any person. I ignore the role they played, because its significance cannot be objectively determined. But I do need to estimate the impact of their appearance, and here, I believe is my special insight. The impact of any actor's appearance can be measured by their height. The taller a person is, the more impression they make, isn't that so?"
"I suppose so. Up to a point."
"Good. So there you have the basis. But it isn't a simple case of multiplying the height by the number of appearances. You see, heights fall into a fairly narrow range, spread around 6', so to take proper account of differences, I subtract 5' 11" and use this height difference as the multiplier. It's quite a simple calculation."
"Yes, I'm sure, butโ€ฆ"
He did not give me a chance to voice my objections, but picked up a sheet of paper. "Humphrey Bogart is 5' 8", that's 68 inches, which comes to -3" when you subtract 5' 11". He made 85 films, so he gets a value of -255 appearance-inches, whereas Lauren Bacall is 5' 8ยฝ" and appeared in 72 movies, so her value is", he consulted his paper, "-180. By a similar calculation, I find that Gary Cooper is 472, and so on."
This didn't seem right to me, but Bacon was in full flow, so I said nothing. "To make comparisons simpler, I divide all these appearance-inch numbers by a standard value." Here he adopted a demure expression. "I have appeared on screen 541 times and I'm exactly 6' tall, which means I have a value of 541. So I divide the raw values by 541 to get a standard value, in units of Bacons. When I do the division, I find that Bogart is -0.47 Bacons, Bacall is -0.33 and James Cagney -0.78. To 2 decimal places, that is. Betty Grable was quite short so her 83 appearances only give her a -1.07. And as for Mickey Rooneyโ€ฆ"
"Yes?"
"-5.72. Sad, isn't it?"
I couldn't refrain from asking, "Is it the case, by any chance, that nobody is greater than 1 Bacon?"
"Not at all. John Wayne was a big man, at 6' 4", and he made 184 films, so he gets 1.7 Bacons."
I started to object, but no sooner had I opened my mouth than he raised a hand to stop me. "I know what you're going to say. What about Shirley Temple? I admit that child actors are a problem. The studio records give Temple's height as 5' 2", but when she made Wee Willie Winkie she can't have been much more than 3' 6". I think for the moment, I'll just leave the kiddies out. After all, if Shirley Temple, then why not Rin Tin Tin?"
It felt cruel, but I had to point out the flaw in his method. "If I understand correctly, anyone who is shorter than 5' 11" scores less the more films they have appeared in. That can't be right, can it? And what about actors who are exactly 5' 11" tall? They would end up with 0 Bacons, no matter how many films they were in."
His face fell at my words. I tried to encourage him. "I'm sure the problems aren't insurmountable, but I think what you need to do is consult a mathematician. If I run into one, I'll tell them to get in touch with you. In the meantime, keep working on it." With that, I made my escape.

There is nothing more beautiful to read and analyse the mechanics of than a fanfic (likely written by a random teenage in the middle of the night) because tell me why the use and playfulness of the language is better than so many of the actually published books in the mainstream rn?

scratch all other discourse, the single most obnoxious MDZS opinion is that jiang yanli "didn't do enough" for wei wuxian. tell me why i'm seeing people in the goddamn subreddit criticizing yanli for not "protecting wei wuxian from yu ziyuan" when yanli was literally also a child?? under the power of the same guardian???
within the story, jiang yanli repeatedly puts the happiness of wei wuxian (and also jiang cheng) before her own happiness. she was their emotional caretaker in a way yu ziyuan and jiang fengmian never were, and even though it was unfair and wrong that a child was parentified in this way, she still loved her brothers until the very end. on a metafictional level, meanwhile, jiang yanli is already written to be less a person in her own right and moreso a high-impact fridgee (thanks to the post that coined this term); her main narrative purpose is not to exist in her own right but rather merely to add tragedy to a male character's story. therefore, on every level ranging from watsonian to doylist, jiang yanli has already dedicated basically everything she has towards her brothers.
and this is still not enough for you? you want to make yanli's existence about wei wuxian Even More - the level of disregard for her own personhood in canon wasn't enough for you? is yanli a person, or is she wei wuxian's shiny accessory?
is this why so many yanli lives AU fics have yanli completely and immediately forgive wei wuxian for husband-manslaughter? even though canon itself states that she could neither say that she had forgiven wei wuxian, nor the opposite?
the same reasoning applies to jiang cheng stans who argue that "yanli didn't love jiang cheng enough," too. jesus mcfucking christ.

deathloop the game was the epitome of "when your circle is small but yall crazy" but what's more special is that deathloop the fandom was also that. there was no discourse because it was impossible to contrive anything more toxic than canon. the tumblr tag was like a dozen ppl on our porches spinning elaborate backstories for furry martin shkreli and grimes with a nuke. we made a zine together and i got to write a metafictional review of a porn game inspired by a heretical screenplay from Dishonored. god damn. the stars fucking aligned for that one i tell you what.

hullo!! i was hoping i could ask a few questions actually! in a post we saw on here earlier, the terms โ€œmetafictiveโ€ and โ€œfriendfixtiveโ€ were used. what do those terms mean? and are there more of these sorts of specific labels for fictives? sincerely a collective who dearly loves microlabels but Cannot find these definitions to save our life xP thanks in advance for the help!!
hi!
a metaject is an introject of another introject; a metafictive is a factive of a fictive and a metafactive is a factive of a factive. any other kind of introject can be used too, meta- just means introjectionception :]
we have a lot of metafictives including an intra-metafictive [a factive of one of our own fictives], and at least one metafactive.
a friendfixtive is an introject from a friend's hyperfixation. we have one: Wilbur Soot. friend was infodumping about DSMP and tombur and Wilbur, we also had a very low tolerance back then, so, hello Wilbur Soot. why are you Filipino.
it could also be said the metafactive Jeffrey Dahmer is also a friendfixtive but given the order of events we don't consider that the case.
and yes! there are lots of fun terms! under the cut
for example, amitive is the term for a factive of another system's headmate, which includes but is not limited to metajects. our systuationship has a mixtive [multi-sourced] of two of our eresians [born in sys]. and all of our metajects are also friendtives [friend factive].
a dreative/dreaject/somtive is from dreams. we have 4 dreatives, one of which, Alexander, was the 1stp character of the dream, the other 3, Dino and twins Luna and Apollo formed while we were sleeping and are considered dreatives because they tried to set up SP and PK in our dreams.
we have 5 'flagtives'. they're not actually technically introjects of the flags, but rather they're flagsonatives.
we have a few conceptives, especially of music.
one who qualifies as a metafictive may instead prefer exofictive.
we also have a few exofactives, particularly in one subsystem, Kandi.kafe. core, Deenie, is a walk-in fictive of Bistro Huddy Pickles, and there was a snaptive little Pickles ["was" because they're no longer a little] and 4 factives of people in Deenie's exolife, who in this world appear as other characters in Bistro Huddy. Ruby, Amber, JD is Joey, and Spencer is a transmasc exofactive of Bridgette. Luke's subsystem also has a factive of the host of a partner system from his exolife, Jack, who was a fictive of a future reboot of Wolverine. confusing but that makes it fun. an exometafictive.
a systive is a factive of another system and/or their singletsona. we have a systive of our current systuationship, and our brother and an ex's girlfriend also have systives of us :D
a personative is of a persona. we have 4 that are definitely considered personatives: - Neet is of a brief profile theme about 13375934K [leetspeak] and computer/binary code [and cybernetic green] - Nessie of an old NSFW account and also a specific character from one of the images - Fin of our systemsona from the lens of Hale and Troy in October 2024 - And most notably, Jester is a catharigenic personative of our old discourse blog.
a myctive is from mythology. Poseidon, Zeus, Hermes, Aphrodite and Circe are from EPIC: The Musical but as god fictives are also considered myctives [apparently, because they're in the folder]. Ulysses and Patroclus [and Circe] are walk-ins. Patroclus and Achilles are from the Iliad, not any Song of Achilles or Troy or anything. and Dionysus is from the Bacchae although he later got retconned Riordanverse exomemories.
we have one non-canon fictive, Noctis. it's not an OC, grey's just inexplicably a imp from Helluva Boss.
post- refers to someone who started as an introject but no longer considers themselves to be from that source. whether that's emotional source separation or growing into a different person, etc.. there's a lot of them in the protogenic sidesystem, especially of childhood characters like Doofenshmirtz.
some other microlabels we have in our system: - 1 booktive - 3 discographytives [one of which is also a factive of one of the band's members, Andy Samberg, and a fictive of a character he plays, Jake Peralta in Brooklyn 99] - 1 genretive [of classic rock music] - 8 songtives [including 5-6 fictives from musicals].
and there are maaaaaaany others. the ones on pluralpedia you can find in their sourced and introjects terms folder, with currently 418 pages :]
we generally have burnout as a hoarder and coiner but we love microlabels too <3

Thoughts by Cerebus by Dave Sims? Are the misogynistic parts legit bad or just immoral like a lot of other great often can be?
The "misogynistic parts" are the only parts I read: issue #186, a literal tract in typeset prose about the combat between the "Male Light" and the "Female Void" that anticipates decades' worth of online discourse. It is an artful collage offset by a metafictional construct, but this doesn't help its reductiveness, nor did it make me, when I read it as a teen to see what all the fuss in the fan press was about, want to find out what it had to do with a cartoon aardvark whose adventures began as a Conan parody. (Schopenhauer didn't make scholars of his anti-feminine discourse read 6000 pages about a cartoon aardvark!) I understand that the later episodes of the series offer dense interpretations of the lives of Wilde and Hemingway. Maybe there's something there; maybe I'm wrong. If Cerebus landed on my doorstep, I'd read it, but I'm not going to seek it out in print or go blind by reading it online.
(Cerebus #186, incidentally, was where I first got a hint at the age of 14 in 1996 what Neil Gaiman was up to, which is why I don't understand why anyone is shocked by the recent testimony. Screenshot from a Russian pirate site attached as evidence: "Viktor Davis" is Sim's alter ego, and "Temporary Supplementary Void" is Sim's jargon for a paramour; the convention context suggests Gaiman's paramour was either collaborator or fan.)

not a yearly roundup! just a tuesdaypost!
the yearly roundup coming soon!
listening: playing some podcast catch-up, also did some KONGOS, thanks beloved mutual celestialtourguide. Odysseus by Brian Keane was also linked in a server I'm in and I like it.
reading: there was exactly one day in which I and a bunch of my friends all overlapped in the same place so we were able to convene at beloved mutual celestialtourguide's apartment on this past Saturday! in there I noticed the volumes of "Witch Hat Atelier" on the shelf and WHILE SITTING THERE HANGING OUT I zoomed through the first two volumes. I borrowed 3 and 4 and read them that night. I have since read through volume 9. I am forcing myself to stop reading for today and will space out the last three available volumes in the next few days because it is more fun than just binging even though it's sooo easy to binge, especially a manga. I love you libby I love you my public libraries, all the volumes were available with no waits. apparently there is a new volume in January and an anime coming out sometime next year so I'm now very excited for that.
some really really good characters in here. I haven't checked yet but I will be SO disappointed if people aren't smashing Qifrey and Olruggio together like dolls. listen there is just something so . something. about one wiping the other's memory like that. has it happened before? who knows. it's fine. it's so good. the tassel swap. augh. and not to bring the cnovel shizunfucking into it but beldaruit and qifrey too huh. anyways. I didn't know it was still in progress when I started reading so now I'm really excited to have a series to keep up with!
Contemplation of a Decaying Corpse: The Japanese Art of Kusรดzu: content warning for graphic corpse decay. it is a little funny to me as described as "feeling horny? go look at a rotting corpse, you won't be horny any more"
Thread: What do Ancient Greek myths tell us about the Greek view of Omegas? (ghostwriterofthemachine, loosingletters): REALLY fun. love a little omegaverse metafiction. formatting probably looks best on desktop.
watching: watched most of the single Chanukah hallmark movie. fun to watch in a 'laughing at weird hallmark choices' kind of way.
Getting My Life Together for the New Year (Morgan Evelyn Cook): her again! she has a lot of Youtuber Vibes (idk if that means anything but whatever). good background noise.
why does wicked look like that? (Mina Le): color grading discourse! fun little history recap of the wizard of oz and film grading in general! she does pronounce "Fiyero" as "Fero" a few times and it made my brain go friends at the table mode lol
youtube
youtube
playing: fallow
making: working on the fingerless gloves! these will be a birthday gift for my mom instead of a holiday gift lol but I had other stuff for her so it's fine.
Tumblr media
eating: made this pineapple bread to use up some crushed pineapple leftover from a kugel! I pressed in some pomegranate seeds into the top as well. it came out tasty but it was a bit of a harrowing bake - there was a point where the edges were cooked but the center was still raw?? which was scary. it took an extra FORTY minutes (!!!!) from what was prescribed in the recipe to cook in the center and thankfully it didn't burn the edges. it was a little dry because of that but still tasty! made it for a Chanukah hangout with some friends, have had some delicious latkes in the past week, all is well :-)
also made the overnight oats ratio from this reddit post, it was good but I feel like the oxidation of the banana made an impact on the taste after a day or two. still edible, just hmm.
misc: posting this on a Monday night and will be writing up my yearly roundup tomorrow on the last Tuesday and last Day, Period of 2024!!!!

As much as Canto VI wasn't my Favorite Canto (it got unlucky being sandwiched between V and VII to be fair) I do think it's fascinating the way it's like. A metafictional take on the source material. It's a telling of Wuthering Heights where the key characters all effectively know they're characters in Wuthering Heights and have Feelings about it- feelings which themselves are resolved self-destructively and with great tragedy. They're all trying to alter this story that they've all (with the exception of our Heathcliff) come to see as so vast and inescapable that there's no single action they can take to change the outcome short of destroying the story at its roots and ripping out its very premise. And somehow I know I kept expecting these gaps of context for these people in this specific world to be filled to a degree that they ultimately weren't, which kinda adds to the feeling to me. The characters know they're characters in Wuthering Heights, and it feels a bit like the player should also know it. Here are some details, but you know the gist, the premise, the concept of a "Catherine" or a "Heathcliff" and maybe also a "Nelly." That plot can be expressed in shorthand because that plot isn't the point, the discourse about it is. I find it very fun conceptually. I did not find fighting the Erlking like four fucking times fun in reality but I can appreciate the idea of it.

Top 10 of 2023 -- Theatrical Releases
Started using letterboxd as a journal two years ago, mostly so I could remember just how recently I'd watched Big Trouble in Little China or Hot Fuzz, but also to hit 'em with of the moment reviews and ratings fresh from the theatre. Which is to say, I'm a little nervous to see what'll come up at the top, but let's take a trip.
10- The Boogeyman (**1/2) - Technically in theatres for a week or two. Buried otherwise, a low stakes King adaptation/remake/reboot that makes the list so I don't have to say anything about AntMan, Elemental, Renfield, or, god forbid, Mario. Effective horror, kind of a neat creature at the center of it, pleasantly surprised that I didn't hate it.
9- Asteroid City (***) - Did lead to a minor personal epiphany, so not all bad. The amount of meta-fictional artifice (lest we for a second want to empathize or consider Wes' paper doll characters in his paper doll theatre as being recognizably human) has gone well-beyond the 'as Royal Tenenbaum' and 'let me tell you about my boat,' past the authorial frame of the Grand Budapest and as of The French Dispatch, Mssr Anderson is now almost entirely preoccupied with stories within stories and it is actually very annoying. (The minor epiphany is that I have also been doing this, as metafiction delights me too, Wes, but why should anyone else care?) Anyway, highlight here is the usual meticulous design, the ridiculous stop-motion sequence, some crackerjack dialogue (muted because now every character has the same blunted affect and without subtitles I sorta glazed over in parts) and these movies remain quite funny.
8- Barbie (***1/2) - Watched a lot of pablum this year, most of it with very naked corporate ambition. Barbie's central trick is to critique itself and the very cynical context in which it critiques itself and hopefully contain within it the entire discourse (good luck to you.) Wish I hadn't had to listen to people earnestly tell me how brilliant and resonant certain 'pause for applause' moments were, but the humour may well stand the test of time, and people were rightly hyped on Ryan Gosling's over-delivery on what once was seen as an unlikely bit of casting.
7- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 (***1/2) - Not too proud to admit I was, in 2023, still kind of excited to see this one (1) marvel movie. Crisp Rat aside, the Guardians deliver best on the comic-to-screen vibe and rarely seem embarrassed with their source, leading to the intense emotional journey of a CGI mutant raccoon bounty hunter reckoning with his maker, no winking involved. Rocket Raccoon is my fucking guy, anyway, no more of these, please and thanks.
6- Dungeons and Dragons, Honor Among Thieves (***1/2) - Yeah, okay, more popcorn flick pablum. Hasbro hoping to further capitalize on the pop culture rise of and monetize and micro-transaction-atize and thereby enshitiffy one of my dearest hobbies (I am diversifying away from D&D TM) looming large in the background here, given the whole OGL blowback it was briefly reasonable large portions of diehards might boycott this thing. Anyway, saw it, liked it, succeeded wildly in the goal of effectively conveying what it's actually like to play a fantasy ttrpg, all the weird in-jokes, wild variations in tone, hand-waving and quirks of 'the rules' there for snorts of recognition. Cannot imagine this was much fun for non-players, but maybe.
5- Across the Spider-Verse (****) - Extremely hyped, but hopefully not the zenith of the trilogy, a lot is riding on part 3, which is thankfully due, uhhh, sometime next year? Dragged out its ending laying more groundwork, but before then, another ceiling breaking exercise in contemporary animation, an almost non-stop kinetic kaleidoscope of visual creativity that augurs well for animation's continued evolution.
4- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Mutant Mayhem (****) - Speaking of. Now, I've loved the Turtles since I was 4 years old, so my personal belief has always been, even though I love the 1990 rubber-suited cash grab, that the central premise is something that in the right hands can actually be objectively good, as opposed to personally delightful to me. This is that movie, the good Ninja Turtles movie. 'Teenage' -- to the point of being endearingly, obnoxiously immature, 'Mutant' -- to the point that the world around them is just as grody and fucked up looking as they are, 'Ninja' -- with sly handheld camera angles and satisfyingly fluid motion to rival Spiderverse, and uh, 'Turtles' -- they sure fucking are. I loved this. Jackie Chan forever.More, please.
3- Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (****) - Exceedingly Quebecois take on the contemporary hipster vampire movie, Can-con for my list. Canadian Indies in 2023 are strikingly similar to American Indies from 2008, if that at all recommends. Ranks high for efficient self-contained everything, very charming, funny, just bizarre enough.
2- The Boy and the Heron (****1/2) - Easy to feel like this is a Ghibli greatest hits compilation, easier to remember that's what we all kinda want-- cute and unsettling creatures, delicious looking food, spirit worlds, quiet moments of reflection, arcane rules for how any and everything works... yet also maybe the truest return to the titanic achievements of Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away (especially.) Story forms a suitably esoteric thesis about grief and creation and, ultimately, endings. I think Miyazaki might actually be done this time.
1- Godzilla Minus One (*****) - An entirely different movie than Shin Godzilla, very possibly even better. It's tense (Godzilla hasn't felt creepy like this for a while.) It's emotional (rivals Godzilla vs Biollante in its human story.) It's very naked in its message (ah, the guilt.) The action is superb. I do not know where Godzilla goes from here. (Mothra!)
(Havenโ€™t seen: Poor Things, Bottoms, Napoleon, the Killer, a bunch of other crap.)

Fictional biographies: Biographical fiction can be made up of books that are based on a historical person, with fiction aspects added. The time period of the personโ€™s life may be accurate, for instance, but the circumstances of their life may be changed. Fictional Biography can also be a genre wherein an author writes an account of a person's life but that person is actually a fictional character (or leastways, is generally thought to be). The Paris Wife Tenderness Memoirs of a Geisha I, Claudius The Other Boleyn Girl
Historiographic metafiction: The term is used for works of fiction which combine the literary devices of metafiction with historical fiction. Works regarded as historiographic metafiction are also distinguished by frequent allusions to other artistic, historical and literary texts (i.e. intertextuality) in order to show the extent to which works of both literature and historiography are dependent on the history of discourse. The French Lieutenant's Woman Ragtime The History of the Siege of Lisbon
Nautical and pirate fiction: Nautical fiction, frequently also naval fiction, sea fiction, naval adventure fiction or maritime fiction, is a genre of literature with a setting on or near the sea, that focuses on the human relationship to the sea and sea voyages and highlights nautical culture in these environments. The settings of nautical fiction vary greatly, including merchant ships, liners, naval ships, fishing vessels, life boats, etc., along with sea ports and fishing villages. Moby Dick The Old Man and the Sea Horatio Hornblower Series Shogun The Wreck of the Mary Deare
Traditional Historical Fiction: The traditional form is what is generally thought of as historical fiction. It typically has a historically accurate plot. A Gentleman in Moscow Beloved The Buddha in the Attic The Fair Fight Human Acts
War novel: A war novel or military fiction is a novel about war. It is a novel in which the primary action takes place on a battlefield, or in a civilian setting (or home front), where the characters are preoccupied with the preparations for, suffering the effects of, or recovering from war. Many war novels are historical novels. Half of a Yellow Sun All Quiet on the Western Front The Most Precious of Cargoes The Nightingale The Kite Runner
Western fiction: Westerns are primarily set in the American Old West between the late eighteenth century and late nineteenth century and tell the stories of cowboys, settlers, and outlaws exploring the western frontier. Some might consider this as a seperate genre. Daughter of Fortune The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford The Hell Bent Kid Riders of the Purple Sage Lonesome Dove

From The Complete Works of Piers Q MacBean, volume 8, Despatches From a Dark Cupboard (or Closet)
The encounter with Albert Einstein, which I recall here in this dark cupboard (or closet) as if it were my own memory, was brief but significant.
On enquiring for the distinguished scientist, I was surprised to be directed to the bathroom, but, sure enough, I found him there. He was staring bleakly into the open toilet cistern, at the siphon and ball valve within it. "It still won't flush," he said, and demonstrated by pulling the handle. A mournful gurgle was the only result.
"The oldโ€ฆ thing, whatever you call itโ€ฆ there," he pointed at the siphon mechanism, "was broken, so I got a new one. There are no instructions, of course. Still, it seemed that a simple thought experiment could reveal the underlying structure. I imagined riding a water molecule through the cistern. What effect would the forces acting on me have on my trajectory? You know, turbulent flow is very difficult to model, so I found I had to formulate some tensor equations to get a more accurate picture. Even then, some simplifications were called for. But the formalisation did reveal some unexpected properties, and it was quite evident that there was a misconception in the existing understanding of these things." He picked up a small piece of metal. "It's quite evident, when analysed correctly, that this is not only redundant, it positively impedes the operation of the system."
He looked puzzled. "It was a simple matter to remove it, butโ€ฆ" Again he tried to flush, and again nothing resulted. "Evidently, a more sophisticated model is required." He looked thoughtful for some time, but then sighed.
"The housekeeper has called a plumber. I'm expecting him any minute."
Sure enough, there was a knock on the bathroom door, and a burly man carrying a bag of tools entered. He took in the situation at a glance, sucked his teeth and shook his head sadly. "They didn't ought to have done that," he said, as all tradesmen must. "I'm afraid this is going to take a bit of putting right. Cost you."
Einstein looked embarrassed, and led me out of the room, saying "We'll leave you to it," to the plumber.
"You know," he said to me, "if I were a young man again, I wouldn't try to become a scientist. I would rather choose to be a plumber"

We're a polyfragmented DID system. Spiritual in functioning, soulbonders, gateway, subsystem-heavy. Collectively, we use it/its pronouns, although we prefer you use the current fronters' names & pronouns when applicable. Refer to us as introversals, intrpios, or soulbonds rather than fictives. We fully support endogenic, created, etc. systems.
Currently a full-time university student. We have limited energy and may not respond fast or at all some days. Our disorders affect how we think, speak, behave, etc. as well as our memory and energy. We have very low empathy and sympathy, and very limited emotional responses / experiences. Don't make your inability to understand the way we exist our problem.
Collectively aroace-spectrum (specifically orchidrose) and genderfluid, generally indifferent or averse. We exclusively have relationships in-sys.
Do not treat our introversals as 1:1 of their source or the version of them you knew.
We are yumedanshi (self-shippers), and our F/Os are generally partners of common fronters or members of the system. Our relationships are as real and important as any relationship with external people. This is not a hobby or coping mechanism for us. We are not comfortable seeing "doubles" unless we know you personally.
We're spiritual and practice pop culture spirit work, among other things. If you're interested, shoot us an ask and we'll give you the blog url.
We're the coiners of pluralpunk and a few other terms we may share here.

You can ask us questions, you're encouraged to (within reason), but please specify who it is directed to. otherwise the current fronter(s) will answer.
We are peacefic and do not care about shipping discourse as long as nobody IRL is being directly harmed. Do not send asks about this.
We are pro-persecutor, pro-endo, pro-paraphilia/kink, dark (fan)fiction enjoyers, anti-censorship, and anti-harassment. We believe in "block and move on".
We do not believe in thought crimes or the inherent evilness of "problematic" or violent thoughts/urges. The only things that matter are your actions towards others.
Please just behave. We are so tired.
If we follow you, it's safe to assume we're fine with you interacting unless you're on our DNI.
If you send us donation asks, we will likely delete them. We donate to longtime friends and established organizations & lists, not random people online who can claim to be whoever and wherever they want.

Hello:))This is the first time I'm writing to you and I must say that I like this blog and the way you always eloquently explain your stance on things, especially when it comes to hotd and got related content. Therefore, I would love to read your opinions on these questions:
1) Have you read Dunk and Egg novellas and if you have, what are your impressions about the storylines, characters, tone, plot twists? Do you have any predictions about the show they are making based on those and what would you especially like to see?
2) I've been discovering recently that many green supporters prefer Daemon Blackfyre over Daeron. I don't know why, but this kind of surprises me since somehow I've always thought that the green fans would be more inclined to Daeron since the rumours about his bastardy always seemed fake to me. What is your opinion on this and who is, according to you, the right side in the First Blackfyre Rebellion (if you think there is one at all) and why?
3) This one has nothing to do with any fandom, but I would like to know is there any book you could recommend to read. As for genre, anything goes, really, although my favourite is probably historical fiction (and metafiction).
what a lovely message to wake up to, anon, thank you so much! i hope you keep enjoying your visits to my blog and know you are always welcome back
1) unfortunately, no, i haven't read the dunk & egg stories, but my boyfriend has and now he is re-reading them and pestering me to read them, too, so i will probably get on with that sometime this summer. to be honest, i'm not very hyped about the show, although i will definitely be watching, so i'm keeping an open slate as i don't have any particular investments. i am cautiously hoping that the show won't be as divisive as GoT or HotD, though
2) i am surprised to hear that daemon blackfyre is popular among the greens. so far i haven't stumbled upon many instances of such discourse, but i haven't particularly been looking for it either. bear in mind that i am no expert on this period in the targaryen reign, though, and these are my first impressions, so to speak.
i don't think daeron is a bastard - to me, that sounded like an obviously fabricated lie by his shitty father, especially since this rumour just so happened to rear its head when aegon iv and daeron were arguing over invading dorne. given how much aegon iv despised naerys and aemon, i don't believe he would have kept quiet about it for so many years. with his type of personality, he would have punished naerys and aemon way sooner had he suspected his trueborn children were, in fact, illegitimate. bear in mind daeron was born in 153 and the rumour was spread in 174 - so that's a lot of time for someone like aegon iv to practice self-restraint. also, the fact that he ultimately never implemented his threat to disown daeron must say something about the validity of his claim.
as far as who is "right" in the blackfyre rebellion, i am inclined to choose daeron. the arguments in favour of daemon (at least what i've seen) suggest that he was innocent of treason and that daeron arrested him without cause, thus, basically breaking the social contract and forcing daemon to start a civil war to defend himself. i personally believe that is an extremely charitable interpretation that is not much supported by the text and, in addition, i don't think grrm is the type of storyteller to create such a blameless victim in the character of daemon blackfyre. not to mention the fact that his personal favourite, bloodraven, fought on daeron's side, as well, and it is very likely that blooraven fits the typology of someone who may be "right" in principle, but whose methods become very questionable as time goes on
in any case, sure, the last part can also be considered speculation on my part, but, as far as canon texts go, we have The World of Ice and Fire, where it is suggested that daemon entertained rebellious talk around him for years and ultimately decided to proclaim himself king, forcing daeron to call for his arrest. could this be the biased interpretation of a maester, masking how daeron was, in fact, the instigator? of course, but, we will have to wait for Fire and Blood II to come out in order to compare the accounts. until then, it would be misplaced energy to become a die-hard for either side, if you ask me
3) i've been slowly trying to get back into reading again, but not everything i finished in the last few months has been a hit. :)) i will, however, make perhaps a slightly atypical suggestion with The Pursuit of Love, written by one of the mitford sisters (nancy). since you mentioned historical fiction, this one was published in 1945 but is set during (and pre-) WWI. anyway, it is (imo) exactly what a romance novel is supposed to be - light, breezy, funny, endearing and ultimately touching and bittersweet, with enough exploration of human character for it to stick in your mind. it is crazy to think she wrote this having grown up in a family with extremely contrasting political views (i believe she had a communist sister and two straight-up fascist ones). she had a v peculiar life and infused many elements from her childhood in her writing. the book is not weird in that regard, though, and nancy is characterised as a "moderate socialist" so it's not a super <problematic> read (we are on tumblr, after all), although it does ultimately carry some aristocratic affectations
and now for some shameless self-promotion - one thing i've certainly been busy with is finding many, many examples for the prompts in my reading challenge (link). :)) if only i would be as prolific with my reading goals as i am with making lists! (but maybe you will find something there to your liking?)

@duct-taping-zhenguo -
Ghost Soup Infidel Blue is a fake fandom originally made up for Yuletide (the fic exchange) to demonstrate How Not To Write A Yuletide Fic Request, and then people started getting Gonchy with it.
There are three incredibly funny things about Ghost Soup Infidel fandom....
No one is quite sure what medium it's in - is it an anime? A manga? A live-action American TV show? Some unholy combination? Everyone agrees it's a space opera, but that's the only point of agreement. This combined with the fact that it was originally created by old school fandom peeps means that a lot of the time it's poking fun of anime fic tropes, as written by people who don't watch much anime. Comedy gold.
The (metafictional, nonexistent) Ghost Soup fandom is the wankiest fandom you have ever seen. They make Steven Universe fandom look like pikers. It's encouraged to leave wanky comments on Ghost Soup fic, to get into giant dickwaving Discourse Threads on it, etc. etc. in-character as a member of the fandom.
To resolve all the Contradictions (TM) in the canon, people have created a bunch of sequels, reboots, adaptations, and such. Ghost Soup Infidel Blue is the original canon; Ghost Soup Infidel Purple is the Controversial Reboot, and Ghost Soup Infidel Gold is the universally despised Reboot/Spinoff that No One Likes.
What's that anime that someone made up as, like, a Goncharov thing?

Honestly "the metagame aspect of Undertale is beyond overrated" is probably my least popular Undertale take. You'd just have to tweak the nature of Flowey/Asriel's torment and you'd still be left with a beautiful story about it the importance of caring about others without all the time travel shit
