So I've officially run through all the macdennis fics available (if I'm being honest there ARE definitely some that I did not finish for various reasons such as high school AUs that felt a little weird to read in my mid twenties). It took 8 months. Probably will do as suggested and just start rereading. Something very comforting about reading the same plot run through over and over and over lol.

Follow Steve and Bucky on their Great American Road Trip as they drive and eat their way across the country and beyond. From the beaches of the Jersey Shore to the graveyards of Savannah, from the cragged horizons of Mexico to deserts with (small) volcanoes, from college campuses to earthship settlements, from the mountains of Colorado to the monumental emptiness of the Great Plains and on and on and on…there is always more road ahead.

A Man Takes... is a miracle of a series that works with what should be an unworkable premise: Steve really did leave to go live in the past. He returned a few months later, yes, but he still made that choice. Knowingly. So, how can any author, any story, rectify such a colossal mistake, and how can it be reconciled with a believable, satisfying romance that short-changes neither Steve nor Bucky? Like this. With patience, and care, and often painful honesty. Just like Steve, this story slowly digs itself out from under the burden of that terrible decision.

I know that some people are very reluctant or even outright refuse to read EG-compliant fics and I understand why this might be a tough sell for them. Believe me, I do. But this series manages to neither let Steve off the hook for his choices nor does it punish him excessively. Instead, Steve and the readers are repeatedly confronted with the fact that there are no magical solutions here, no take-backs—it’s a fix-it, yes, and very much a Stucky fic through and through, but it’s not a fix-it fantasy where in the end everything turns out to have been an unfortunate misunderstanding after all. What's done is done and the only way out is through. But. even if you usually prefer to ignore anything that happened post-[insert preferred point of canon divergence here], please, please try to give this absolute marvel of a series a chance. It is genuinely one of the most rewarding and satisfying works I've ever read in this fandom. It's catharsis in slow motion.

You will find descriptive writing here that is so incredibly beautiful that it will bring you to your knees in awe. This series transcends fanfiction in many ways, as it stands out for the remarkable quality of the prose and the nuance, subtlety, and precision with which it explores both the emotional landscapes of its protagonists and a fictionalized, yet very recognizable post-Snap America. At the same time, it could only ever work as fanfiction because it stays so close to the characters and is so deeply rooted in and filtered through Steve’s inner life and perspective. Just like the real Steve Rogers, this story is smart and curious, and deeply empathetic towards its characters and the world they inhabit.

Every detail is imbued with meaning. The food Steve and Bucky eat. The clothes they wear. The art they look at. The books they read. The music they listen to. The places they stay at. The landscapes they drive through and the objects they carry with them or acquire along the way. One doesn't need to understand or even notice all of the references, allusions, or ambiguities to enjoy the series, but it makes for such a rewarding reading experience to really dig deep into the many, many layers the author has so expertly assembled into this phenomenally rich text. More often than not in this fic, the curtains aren’t just blue. Or rather, Bucky’s sweatpants aren’t just gray.

At some point amidst this sprawling, reflective journey, a bittersweet realization sets in: There simply is no compensation for the time and life lost, for the pain suffered. No money, no medals or statues, no hagiographies, and certainly no delusional pipe dreams forcibly made real, will ever make up for all that loss. You can't outrun your past, but that doesn't mean you should bury yourself in it. And maybe, solace can be found in mutual understanding, not just between these two men, but in interactions, in shared community—however fleeting—with ordinary people doing ordinary things in their ordinary lives. And in the beauty of the mundane and the relief that there still is a world in which such beauty can exist, even though it is so often a cruel and unjust place. Steve Rogers finally allows himself to feel his feelings: his grief and his shame, but also his joy and—even though he’s already so very tired—his hunger for more. More time, more life, more Bucky.

This series is a wonderful tribute to Steven Grant Rogers—an honest and affectionate portrayal of this compelling and lovable, if at times difficult, character. It is also a gorgeous, intricate love letter to the miracle of a man that is James Buchanan Barnes. As you can probably tell by now, I love it a totally not normal amount.

A most heartfelt thank you to @burberrycanary for taking us all along on Steve and Bucky's long journey across America and (back) to each other. Thank you for letting us sit in the back seat and watch as they learn to love and live with each other in old and new ways, finally find some measure of well-deserved rest and peace, and, together, face their greatest challenge, their longest fight, the eternal question:

Set in a post-apocalyptic future where what's left of humanity lives deep underground, this is the kind of atmospheric sci-fi that I'm always thrilled to find in fic. This AU was written for the DCBB in 2014, and is a fusion with Hugh Howey's Wool trilogy, which has since been adapted into the Apple series Silo. I'm yet to dig into either the books or the show, so anactoria's fic is still the only version of this particular universe that I'm familiar with, and it's stuck with me for a decade.

For almost eleven years.

What It Means to Be Alive by LeandraLocke Explicit | 132k | 🏖️

This post-canon fic sees Dean taking a road trip, healing from a lifetime of trauma, grieving for Cas, and figuring some things out through an unexpected relationship with a man he meets in Mexico... and then Cas comes back to life. Definitely one to check out if you've never read it before!

I had to semi-rewatch the last two episodes again because I did not remember anything except me shouting WTF at the screen. The Shiri Appleby scenes are still great (also I never clocked that Counting Crows' "Time and Time Again" was playing in the last scene between her and Liz, which is very uncharacteristic of me), but I totally forgot that a lot of Liz's ending was that being a woman in STEM sucks??? Which is very stupid and everyone should've just gone on a road trip instead.

The slate for the planned canon rewrite, expansion and in-depth exploration of the ENTIRE Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This includes links to all the projects I've worked on thus far related to the MCU rewrite, as well as lists of what I'm planning on writing next (although, please note that this is always subject to change). And this goes beyond what already exists, as I plan to make high quality novel-length and novella-length fics diving into every corner I can of this big, beautiful universe — that are NOT always based on the movies.

There are four planned phases for this project:

The first and second phases are the only ones where the fics in them have additional descriptions. The other phases have only their titles revealed. (See the series description for a rundown of all the major characters that will appear throughout these fics.)

1. All works that currently exist have links to them. If it does not have a link, I have not started writing it — and despite the order that everything is in, I might be skipping some works and circling back to them later for various reasons (mainly when it makes sense, I’m not going to write an Avengers fic until everything else beforehand is done).

2. This is the recommended order, but — unless it's specified — you can probably read any of them without spoiling any other work. There may be references or easter eggs, but unless it's substantial I will not list something as 'required reading' for another fic: start wherever YOU want.

3. If the work isn't bolded, it will most likely end up being the length of a novella (10-20k words). If it is in UPPERCASE, I expect it to be very, very VERY long. This is just an estimate however, and I just don’t know how far these things will go until I start writing it.

4. Lastly, EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

I have no intention to bring them in as I have never watched them and I don't know enough about them to include them. I posit an idea of bringing these particular franchises in at some point... but this is very unlikely to happen.

A bend in space-time S2 || a TUA fanfiction

What if, through the whole story of The Umbrella Academy, Klaus had had someone to have his back? I chose to insert an OC - Rin - into the plot of the series, appearing almost only in deleted scenes. This fic is not a self-insert nor a OC-centric fic : Rin exists to flesh out the canon characters, and the fic is mostly focusing on Klaus. Never been tagged before, and now I was tagged by 2 people on the same day! I suppose this means I gotta come through. @motel-gothic and @paellegere thanks so much (I guess?) ;)

Last Song: Green Grass and High Tides by The Outlaws. Don't laugh... southern rock is new to me. You don't hear it much in Europe. A side effect of Supernatural really, via Jensen - my music knowledge has expanded.

Favorite Color: "favorite" questions are not my thing. My answer is always "it depends". As to colors, I really go for combinations. Turquoise and corral for instance. Deep red with dark blue. White and spring green.

Last Movie/TV Show: I finally watched The Road. Pretty depressing. I gotta say I expected something more, after the fanfics I read based on this movie.

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Spicy. Especially Mexican. My husband is Mexican after all.

Relationship Status: married, two children, one already in college.

Last Thing I Googled: how to use the Wayback Machine.

Current Obsession: what a question. Wincest of course!

Last Book: The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Le Guin. I can recommend it. But I have to be honest- I've always been an avid reader but since I discovered the existence of Supernatural, shipping, and fanfic, all pretty much at the same time about 4 years ago, I've been on a wincest fanfic reading spree that shows no signs of abating, seriously impacting my novel and non fiction reading rates.

Looking Forward To: Spring. And our first family trip to Mexico in 5 years later this year. As to projects, this is only an idea, but I'd love to compose an open access wincest fic rec data base for fics on livejournal and ff.net. When I find the time. And maybe someone who knows how to set this up online.

Alegraves' Daily Life Headcanons Vol.1

*Just some Alegraves’ daily life hcs and smut that continue from the previous post. Cheesy af but I just want them to be cute🥺

This is a continuation hcs to this post:

• Alejandro and Graves are both truck guys.

Graves is definitely Ford or RAM 4x4 big-ass off-road truck with all fancy technology in it kind of guy, while Ale just loves trucks because it’s convenient, multi-purpose, and feel good to drive.

Also, Graves definitely has an all-black touring motorcycle because he wants it, he gets it (7 rings playing in the background) and after a few short motorcycle trips together, Alejandro started to consider buying one as well.

• Graves loves to play and sing along with country music while driving and always has a pair of spare sunglasses and a cowboy hat in the car, cause just in case he feels like wearing one.

•Graves has a habit of cleaning his car every time he leaves the car, that’s why his car is mostly clean but always has some random plastic water bottles or a few coins tossed around here and there. Alejandro will toss his gear and stuff to the backseat every time he drives, that’s why his front seat is clean af but the backseat carpet always have mugs, dirt, or tree leaves on it.

• Alejandro has serious road rage and He is proud af of it. Cause drives like a madman did save them from KIA thousand times during missions, but that’s also why Rudy and Graves strictly forbid him to drive in the city or highway during traffic time. Otherwise, there will be a very high chance of seeing a full-on Latino mode Alejandro, head out of the window, yelling and arguing with other drivers on the road while whoever is on the shotgun tries to save everyone’s life somewhere on the road in Texas or Mexico. (Jesus take the wheel!)

•Both loathe big and crowded cities like New York and will never miss the chance of trashing it.

•Graves is that 7-in-1 head and shoulders and random body wash guys. His skin care routine is basically non exist, water, face cleanser and water, because Yeehaw he is a Texas rough man, and he always says he can use all the shower and skincare time to do something more productive.

The fact that he somehow manage to have healthy and glowing hair and skin in such manners makes the British members of 141 and Alejandro a bit jealous about it.

•On the other hand , Alejandro has an intense skincare routine like a movie star and definitely use specific products for skincare and haircare. He knows he is handsome af and intends to use his charm as a weapon. He definitely has spa days during his holidays. Needless to say, Graves ‘care routine’ has definitely given him a shock when he first know.

•Both of them use the word ‘cowboy’ or ‘Vaqueros’ with different meanings depending on the occasion, they can compliment each other using the word and use it as a sweet nickname for each other but can also attack each other using the same word. Nevertheless, if the conversation happens in bed, the term definitely means something good:)

•The ‘oh shit they really are made for each other moment’ for their friends is when the 141, Vaqueros, and Shadows decided to have a barbecue party, and Graves and Alejandro just automatically took over the grill together like two dads and working like they been doing this for 20 years. They just casually feed each other food for ‘taste testing’, and process to lick or suck their own fingers after feeding the other. They also drink each other beer without even asking the other, and the ridiculous amounts of PDA without warning just make their friends stunned and screaming for help(except Rudy who has already seen too much daily)

• Even though both have colognes at home but they always prefer the smell of fabric conditioner and aftershave they use because it smells like home and each other.

•Which brings us to the next hc that Graves is a sense monster, or in Alejandro's words a puppy who has his own blanket that it never lets its owner wash the blanket. He cares A LOT about smells, will steal and hoard Alejandro’s clothes if he is away from home for too long, and loves to wear and give boyfriend hoodies. He also LOVES a good sweaty after training Alejandro. And will always use smells as a compliment.

•Meanwhile Alejandro is a physical touch and kisses monster. ALWAYS TOUCH STAVING. Just LOVES to grab a kiss and hug here and there, Will hug you from behind while you are cooking that type of man, and have no personal boundaries at all, if Graves sits on the couch on his own, he will automatically sit right next to him and wrap him into his arms.

•They are both affectionate af, Like Very Very Very Affectionate at Maximum level. While they both try to be professional when they are at work, the natural habits of showing affection to each other just never seem to be under control. The hand on the waist or sometimes ass, the hug that may be a little too long too tie for comrades, or just random kisses on the cheek and neck, these types of self-displayed PDA just make the Vaqueros roll their eyes and sign, and hope that long time exposure of PDA could consider as mental trauma.

•Graves is a very southern man that will use nicknames like ‘Honey’, ‘sweetheart’, ‘darling’, ‘dear’ etc. on a daily basis, such as calling waitresses or cashiers ‘sweetheart’. At first, Alejandro is a bit bothered by it, but then he realizes that there are some nicknames that Graves used just for him, such as calling him different kinds of nicknames that relate to food(sugar, sweets, pumpkin, pecan pie, muffins, biscuits, butter, donuts), Boo, Babe, Sunshine, handsome and Alejandro’s personal favorites—— my (little) Cowboy (Vaquero).

•Alejandro uses more classic Spanish nicknames such as 'Mi Amor', 'Mi alma', or 'Cariño' etc. he also uses cowboy(Vaquero) referring to Graves but he also calls Graves 'Mi Sombra/Umbra' which Graves loves it.

•But their favorites are calling each other husband, partner, or my man(Mr.) when they talk to other people. It’s very Cheesy but they love it.

•They both are dog person. They adopted a retired military dog, the dog sometime will go to the Vaqueros base with Alejandro.

•Alejandro is good at cooking anything in general and is always happy to challenge himself with new recipes. While Graves is only good at grilling meat and a few southern dishes that become his signature dishes. Alejandro approves those signature dishes are really god-tier but other foods that Graves made are…interesting.

•Alejandro, Graves, and Rodolfo formed a bully triangle where the two of the trio with work together to make fun of the one that in the trio who is being stupid or mean. Graves and Rudy will exchange Alejandro's past and present secrets and embarrassing stories to make fun of him; Alejandro and Graves will act like super lovey-dovey exaggeratedly to disgust Rudy; Rudy and Alejandro just loved to use Spanish to make fun of Graves when he beings too ‘American’.

•Both are beer lovers, both have a high tolerance for alcohol, and not easy to get drunk, but Alejandro can definitely outdrink Graves. While Graves' face turns red quickly with a small amount of alcohol and gets more excited like a drunk college student, he actually gets quieter and more sleepy as he drinks more. Alejandro looks normal with a few beers but gets high and loud as he drinks more, will yell his heart on karaoke type of drunk.
