Heyo, I’ve been following you for a while now and I just wanted to let you know that your art is super inspiring to me and always makes my day better! I’m writing/worldbuilding a story with many religious elements and the way you explore religious concepts and angels as beings in your art and writing is so inspiring and really helps me think up different stuff as well, so thank you so much for that!

Also, Michael! Gosh I love his character so, so much, he’s so wonderful! He’s interesting and relatable and tragic and honestly just plain beautiful. I want to give him some nice hot tea/soup and a hug because, man, he deserves it.

and im so glad you love mike, he's always been an interesting figure to me....ever since reading paradise lost, i always kind of wondered what things were like for michael on the other side of that, to be so exposed to war and banish your once beloved prince. it always struck me deeply how milton described lucifer experiencing pain for the first time, when pain had never existed before then, and so i began to think....what is it like to be the one to do it? SO mike's been stuck in my brain for awhile too, and i think that really bears out in what i've done with him - he caused the first wound, he rid heaven of lucifer, and he became prince in his place (sharing headcanons with epiphanius of salamis wooo) and then placing that in this canon, where there is clearly a critique of dogmatic, rigid religion and how it is so dangerous to its adherents, how even the suggestion of imperfection is eradicated, it really fully fleshed out what michael was in my mind - left to rot just like god's kingdom, and in desperate need of healing. SO clearly he's got a hold on me too lol

Within 48 hours—following Joe Biden’s TDoV statement proclaiming “transgender people are part of the fabric of our nation”—the “controversy” had been boosted by the campaign of Donald Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, failed cooking show host Caitlyn Jenner, and a long litany of other ideologues who enjoy nothing more than writing headcanon of their own fictional victimhood where trans activists are, somehow, an inescapably powerful political force rather than a marginalized population with twice the rate of poverty and twice the risk of early death. Like the decades-long “War on Christmas,” this openly bad-faith controversy is meant to construct a reality where a lack of Christian dominance is the same as Christian victimhood, fostering pluralism is the same as oppression, and declining church attendance is the fault of the same secular conspiracy that invented trans people (some of whom, it should be noted, are Christian themselves) instead of a willing exodus caused in no small part by the association between Christianity and anti-LGBTQ beliefs—a PR problem many Christians, such as the organization behind those “He Gets Us” campaigns, are keen to fix even as they fund and support anti-LGBTQ causes.

Like the crocodile tears being spread over TDoV and Easter, these scenes are created by whole cloth to create an illusion of scarcity and contested interests in the public square. They are Sunday school dystopias of a secular regime where Christians who reject queer people have their children taken away and are marched off to re-education camps. They fear this (mythical) regime because it’s precisely the regime they’re enforcing against trans people and our families, right down to threatening to remove transgender youth from their parents’ custody and, once in foster care, “re-educating” them. They cannot fathom a world where people of varying beliefs and ways of life coincide because their fear is not oppression but the loss of cultural and political Christian dominance. It’s why these contests are so frequently focused on battles between the legal right to privacy and the legal right to the public square. The right to same-sex marriage—like the right to abortion, contraception, and same-sex sexuality itself—has been grounded by the U.S. Supreme Court in the right to privacy. But invariably, we live in a society where nearly any private act has some public baring, whether it’s the pharmacist who wants to deny you access to birth control, the doctor who wants to deny you an abortion, or the wedding business that wants to deny the legitimacy of your love for your partner.

all of my muses are based within a universe of my own making, but can easily be thrown into any other universe (including the real world) with minimal alterations, if any. information about this universe is below. if you have any questions or curiosities about it, please throw them at me.

magic is an open secret. its existence and use are known by the general population across the world, but not so openly discussed. it’s something that exists and is used by a percentage of the world’s population, but not a concern for most people or governments. there is always an exception, of course– sects of people around the world who have their own, varying issues with the people that can access the one thing they strictly cannot.

when magic first came into being in this universe, a small selection of the population were imbued with its power and given the ability and privilege to use it. only those born of the prime’s lineage are capable of magic use. you cannot learn to access the leylines crisscrossing the globe and the universe as a whole. you are either born with the ability to use magic, or you aren’t. there is nothing that can be done to change that.

some bloodlines have a stronger connection to the leylines than others. there is no rhyme or reason behind why this is so, but there are people that believe it is due to the number of mundanes (non-magic users) that have “diluted” those bloodlines. there is no proof this is true, but those ideas still hold strong in some minds. all users have a specific focus, where their magic is more dominant/stronger with that one use compared to all their other capabilities. these focuses are not genetic, though there may be some similarities between family member. the only focus that is genetic, is shapeshifting abilities.

the general word used for all magic users is ‘witch’, but some individuals (or families) may use different terms for varying reasons.

the rossi siblings have two magic-wielding parents. alice’s husband is a mundane, & both of their daughters are already showing signs of magical abilities. alice’s focus is mental persuasion, austin’s water manipulation, andrew’s the ability to communicate with animals.

nathan’s mom & aunt are magic users, his uncle is not, & his father’s lineage is unknown due to his identity also being unknown. his focus is technological manipulation.

both of shannon’s parents are magic users, as are all of her siblings. her focus is anatomical manipulation.

mike’s dad wields magic, his mom did not, & neither does his step-mom. his older step-sister is a mundane, but their younger brother is able to use magic. mike’s focus is botanical development.

jordi, jaymi, & luz are considered shifters instead of witches, since their type of magic focus is so different from the general population’s, & is the only focus that is genetic. the twins are able to shift into any animal form, but each of them has a preferred/favored animal: a bear (jordi) & a wolf (jaymi). luz is capable of shifting into any human form.

How’d you find this show and the fandom? How long have you been here? I found this show through my mother, who watched it when she was younger. I don't remember when I first watched the show, but me, my mom and my younger sister, @phoenix-feathered, just recently got back into it.

What made you stick around? Since I'm older than I was last time I watched it, I have a better appreciation and understanding for the characters, situations, humor, etc.

Who’s your favorite character? Roy. As much as I love the whole cast, Kevin Tighe brings such a sincerity to the character. Roy is very kind and understanding, but he's firm when he needs to be.

Are you a shipping kind of person? If yes, what are your favorite ships? I'm a shipper, but I didn't really have any ships in the show. I'm still uncertain what I think of Brackett and Dixie.

Favorite moment/scene/quote? Yes, you can pick more than one. Oh my goodness- there are so many excellent ones. This show's writing is honestly amazing. My favorite quote has to be Roy saying "I must be getting old. I don't like pop art; rock music; I don't smoke pot; I keep my hair cut too short; I take a shower everyday." My favorite moments are soft ones between the crew. Roy worrying about Johnny every time he's hurt, Johnny being concerned about Roy getting a promotion but trying to be supportive and toughen through it, etc.

Do you have a favorite episode? Feel free to pick one per season if you can’t decide. Ah, man. I really like them all. I don't know if there's one that stands out above the rest.

Most underrated character, either among the fandom or one the writers never utilized to their full potential? It upsets me some how little the rest of the firemen are used. Mike, Marco and Captain Stanley (less so) are criminally underused, especially Mike. I wish Dr. Morton got more, too.

One thing you’d have liked to see more (or less) of in the show? Hmmm. Toughie. Maybe more of each characters' daily lives.

Nancy is one of those girls that can pick up an instrument and be an expert in a matter of minutes.

Whenever someone would call Eddie gay as an insult he’d just get reeeeeeeeal close and say “~you wish~”

People call Max Zombie Girl since she came back to life and say things like “Zombie girl and zombie boy, sitting in a tree...” but by this point she’s already run over their toes with her wheelchair

Chrissy had a crush on Tammy Thompson (just coz)

Robin has autism, adhd and suffers badly from imposters’ syndrome

Steve’s parents are really Christian and mentally abusive towards Steve. They hate Robin for her black nail polish, fast and nervous way of speaking, forward-thinking ways, basically anything. Steve never let anyone realize how bad they made him feel but the rest of the Fruity Four eventually got him to open up.

Joyce knows Jonathan smokes weed, but she also knows he’s going through a rough patch in his life and confiscates a few rolls from his stash at a time, not the whole box.

Nancy, Steve, Jonathan and Mike are bisexual, Robin and Eleven are lesbians, Will and Eddie are gay, Argyle is pansexual, Lucas is demisexual and Dustin is ace. No one here is allowed to be straight. No.

Eddie’s really clingy with Steve when they’re alone together, and will even risk grabbing his hand when they’re in public. Nancy and Robin, and El and Max, can get away with hand holding quite frequently due to them both being girls and Will and Mike are really guarded, always checking how close they are in public.

Will and Mike, when they came out to her, had to explain to El what homophobia is. She started crying because she didn’t want her brother and his boyfriend to be hurt for who they are.

Eddie got Steve into Metallica the same way Max got Lucas into Kate Bush.

Lucas and El get jealous over Max and she has to sort it out (but she secretly finds it so sweet)

That's a good question!! i think little robot boy might have short circuited a bit just from the shock n then stomped away all grumpy and grumbling (cute) to go have a cigarette or something and everyone just would have laughed. Rookie did seriously consider it, though, before opting not to. She thought he might bite.

As for the gifts!!

- Mike got weed and a little saxophone pipe (LOL) from Isabel

- Isabel got a bunch of body butter/bath bombs that she talks about all the time, and a pretty keychain with a small bottle of pepper spray attached to it--with a note saying to use it on overbearing brother figures--from Nanaba.

- Nanaba got a pair of concert tickets to an upcoming concert for a band she likes from Mike.

How do your god celebrate the holiday? Do they do anything to/with tinies to celebrate?

This question actually allows me to tap into a bit of worldbuilding. XD So, Christmas - in my universe - still exists, and it's still called Christmas. This is simply because it's a lot easier to make it work than coming up with some phony Christmas analogy holiday that would basically be Christmas in all but name. My headcanon for my Predator Gods universe has it that they haven't been on Earth FOREVER; they CAME to their world and OCCUPIED it, at least a hundred years before the time when I'm writing. So they've been around a good, long time, but they haven't been around for EVERYTHING. Christmas has become, in their world, a much more secular holiday. Secular, but not necessarily selfish: aside from a few cult-like groups who still practice Christianity in this universe, no one really considers it to be the birthday of Jesus in any way, shape, or form. (This is not to slam on religion, it's just pure logic with the way this universe functions: if LITERAL GODS are EXISTING AMONG YOU, other religions sort of become obsolete. That or there's some sort of Coexistence thing going on, and I'm not touching on that. XD) However, while religion is no longer a part of Christmas for most people, the basic truths and ideals of the holiday are: it's still a time for giving, for people caring about others and spending time with family, for eating lots of good food, giving presents, etc. A lot of the same traditions and classic Christmas movies exist; about the only thing that's changed is you'll hear a lot less songs like "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and see a decided lack of Nativity Sets. In terms of how the different Gods celebrate it...Bela, believe it or not, actually likes Christmas! And every Christmas, he opts NOT to terrorize people for a day. For one whole day, just once a year, he refrains from eating, smash, smothering, or generally killing and destroying anyone or anything. He also donates annually to a children's hospital in his territory. Before you think he's being TOO nice, however...just because he refrains from outright ENDING anyone, it doesn't mean he won't pop a few tinies in his mouth and tease them for a few hours, or sit on Kepp's face while watching his favorite take on "A Christmas Carol," and snickering at how people clearly didn't understand Ebenezer Scrooge was the GOOD guy in all this. So, yeah...a nicer Bela doesn't mean a NICE Bela, period. It just means you'll survive...and chances are, come December 26th, that appetite will be back WITH A VENGEANCE, so try not to stay TOO close to him the day after Christmas. Prax celebrates the holidays fairly quietly with Mike and Skim. Mike is estranged from his family; I'm not sure of the details (might be due to his sexuality, but I'm not certain), and Skim actually doesn't have any family to speak of: his parents have sadly passed, and he was an only child, and he's never been super close to his extended relations. So the three of them usually spend Christmas holed up in Mike and Skim's apartment, watching Christmas movies, singing karaoke (which Prax always butchers and gets embarrassed by), and maybe playing some video games... ...Sometimes while Prax has a whole organization of drug dealers screaming for the pain to stop inside his stomach while he drinks cookies and milk. But only sometimes. Depends on what happened during the week leading up to Christmas. Baan and Seala actually celebrate fairly normally! Seriously, you wouldn't guess Baan is a God from the way they celebrate. He usually spends Christmas with Seala and her family, having a traditional Christmas dinner, and chatting relatively typically...and when the time to give gifts away comes, Baan dresses up as Santa Claus to entertain the kids in the family. He also tends to dress up as Santa and do the same thing at the school Seala works at, before winter break starts. it's a fitting role for him; the hat covers up his ears, the coat covers his tail, gloves cover his claws...and he likes milk and cookies as much as any jolly old elf. ;)

My favorite thing about them: his passion, probably. asian f hits me really hard every time i watch it because i see so much myself in his passion for dance and his desire to get to do what he loves for the rest of his life. mike is quiet, not very loud and out there about it, and that reminds me of me as well. working really hard at the thing you love and letting everything else fall away.

My least favorite thing about them: some of the things he says to tina are....yikes, and the way he sides with rachel in 3x20 is just really not it.

My least favorite thing about them: she can also be pretty mean. when she gets in her head, it tends to give her tunnel-vision and she struggles to really care about anyone else’s feelings, which sucks.

Some random headcanons for the holiday

Before OS the only times Ben and Gwen saw each other were Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the 4th of July

The extended Tennyson family are 100% those people that decorate for every Good Old American Holiday, trying to be something resembling a postcard

The Bellwood plumbers do not do this. They used to, way back when, but then Devin showed up, went ‘oh so we can decorate for our holidays’ and started doing so and encouraging others to do so and by the time the Plumbers Kids parents were joining the lot holiday decorations had been banned entirely because 1) it turns out between the various cultures there were always decorations going up, 2) Devin’s decorations included things like animal bones, and 3) how dare people expect the higher-ups on Earth to openly acknowledge alien and non-white-Christian cultures

Kevin has celebrated Thanksgiving maybe four times in his life, all of those were with his stepfather’s family, he has not eaten turkey in late November since he was nine (“It’s not my fault, turkey season ends back at the farmhouse in fucking October”)

For a 1-3 week span in late-November/early-December he gets together with one-to-all his relatives on his mom’s side, they head into the woods, and you don’t see them again until their allotted time is done or they’re delivering game to a soup kitchen

The non-meat parts get divided up and either used by the family, sold directly, or smuggled offworld where you can get more for them (“So many people look at smuggling like it’s a one-way thing, but if you’re smart-”)

Argit generally spends the time doing his own thing or with Kevin

Rook generally spends the time with the Tennysons, occasionally talking about harvest festivals back home (would it be nice to celebrate that instead? yes. is he going to do so before Rayona moves to Earth and starts setting some fucking boundaries? no because the only person he knows who would come is maybe Argit) (Kevin has standing plans, sorry, and the Tennysons... are the Tennysons)

The rest of the Plumber Kids Thanksgiving things vary

Alan’s family goes out to his maternal grandmother’s every year, it’s very traditional, he will fight you over a sweetpotato casserole (and has fought his brothers)

There’s generally three turkeys at the event- one smoked, one roasted, one deep-fried- all of which are raised by Alan’s grandparents. They don’t raise much anymore, their children having taken over for the most part, but they insist on raising the turkeys and always cook the meal out of their own garden

Cooper spends the weekend with the Albrights

Thanksgiving for the Wheels family kinda got absorbed into a Kinet feast day earlier in the month celebrating the end of the stormy season where people get the chance to fucking breathe a bit

What they serve varies, it’s generally a big assortment of shit from their various cultures and sometimes the timelines match up and Kevin’s family sends them some fresh game

The Armstrongs celebrate it, some. It’s not a big deal but there’s a few extra sides at dinner and generally some sort’ve ‘exotic’ meat for the main (sometimes they go for alien meats, which are much more expensive but also Manny’s mother really appreciates when they get shit from home)

(Manny also has not had a turkey in late November in many years. You would think, with his family owning a butchershop, this wouldn’t be the case, but that shits for customers)

Elena’s taken to spending the holiday with the Armstrongs

Mike hasn’t had a Thanksgiving since his father died and has mixed feelings about the situation (on the one side, Thanksgiving is massive amounts of high calorie food, on the other, no having to listen relatives he only saw once a year make snide comments about how much he’s eating because apparently if you’re a mutant three servings of potatoes is excessive)
