When They Save You ~ Tekken
Characters: Kazuya Mishima, Sergei Dragunov, Kunimitsu, Ling Xiaoyu
I never expected to fall in love with Tekken as much as I did, but here we are. This is my New Year’s gift for you, and especially for my dear friend @atomicpunch99 whose idea I’m using. Enjoy getting saved by your lovely lady friends, little one~
----
SERGEI DRAGUNOV
Tumblr media
You were a scientist working for your country’s Government, and in a joint project with Russia, you and some of your colleagues were sent to do medical engineering research there and analyse the probes at their laboratories, as they were far more developed than the ones you were used to.
As you were the only one both brave and intelligent, therefore you were tasked with being the leader of your people, under the Russian patronage. When they deemed the results of your research to be satisfactory, the General under whom you were working had to send one Russian researcher along with one from your country to infiltrate in an enemy lab and steal their own work, a certain device, but also wipe everything, it was clear that all your co-workers were too afraid to go forward, fearing for their lives - After all, this wasn’t what they signed up to! Locking themselves in a safe laboratory was what they did for a living.
Sighing, you went ahead and nominated yourself, and together with the Russian researcher you were to follow the plan made by the spies. Thankfully, you were going to have a guard - His name is Sergei Dragunov, the best in his field. His pale face, that scar on his lip, those gargoyle-like eyes, all in contrast with that dark, dark hair made him look intimidating and scary. His height and uniform, but also his imposing presence and his lack of words made even his brethren shudder in fear. He was sworn to protect them with their life, so there was nothing to be afraid.
Your journey through the forest was filled with silence and more silence, as you tried to initiate a conversation with him. You asked him about his culture, about songs, about weapons even - He merely stared back at you, his eyes peering so deep into your soul, that for once, you felt that you were the specimen being watched at the microscope.
It wasn’t until you got attached by a bunch of mercenaries that you first heard a grunt from your protector. He was beating down so easily tens and tens of enemies, while you and your partner hid. You admired his fighting style - It was strong, but also leisure and elegant, using perfect technique backed up by a monstrous strength. But gazing so fondly at the man protecting you was enough to drop your guard down without even realising.
One enemy, however - The last one standing - In his desperation, caught you and dragged you up by the hair, his forearm over your neck to choke you, the cold steel of the rifle against your temple. “I’ll kill her! I swear I’ll fucking kill her! You monster, Dragunov! White Angel of Death!” Sergei merely stared down the pathetic enemy holding a hostage, and he growled like a wild animal baring his teeth - Even now, however, he did not speak. “It’s either you or her, Dragunov! I know those rich fat fucks care about her brains only - The only researcher in her field that can do something of this magnitude. To think they would be dumb enough to leave her unprotected.” his grip laxed against your throat, allowing you to breath properly. “Huh. And she’s such a pretty thing too. Maybe I can throw her to the ground and have my way with her? Would that bother you? Nah, doubt it. You’re a monster, you only care about getting your mission done, and --” before he could speak again, so lost in his own hatred for Sergei, he didn’t notice you had pushed his forearm just far enough for you to slip away and side step him, grabbing his hand and pulling the trigger towards his own head. Your face was painted scarlet.
“You speak too much.” you muttered, stepping away from him. “Systema.” Sergei spoke for the first time since you’ve known him. You couldn’t help but smile at him, happy that your small, yet very effective technique pulled a win. “Yes. I learnt Systema after getting threatened like that the first time. I was 14, just barely employed by the Gov.” you loved watching technical fights, and did your best to learn the best way to defend yourself. Systema was the best MMA fighting style for self-defense. It was Russian. “It’s not as remarkable when I do it. You, using Sambo, however, looks far more fascinating - And intimidating. I’d be afraid to be your enemy.” you chuckled lightly, yet he only hummed in acknowledgement. Sergei took a handkerchief from his coat pocket, and cupping your face gently, he wiped the blood from your face. “You did well.” his praise, he had no idea made your hear beat a thousand miles per second, yet the sweet and tender smile that you gave him, gazing back into those cold eyes like the Siberian ice, made him melt with your warmth.
That night, you had to camp outside, in a small tent. Sergei made a campfire and ate a sandwich while he used snow water, boiled, to make himself some fruit tea. It was late into the night, and you didn’t want to let him stay all alone, in the freezing cold - Though he says he’s used to it. You sit on a log next to the fire as he passes his cup for you to drink.
It is here that you learn of his fascination with trains, old and new, how each model works, what they are good for, their speed, their endurance, even the weapons they can have attached to them. It was rather interesting, hearing him speak about a subject you barely had idea idea of, but the more you chatted, the later it got... And his baritone voice was so velvety and soothing, that in combination with the hot tea and the mild cold from outside, you felt drowsy, so you leaned your head on his broad shoulder. It was unexpectedly comfortably.
Sergei said nothing, except putting his arm around your body, pulling you against his chest. Before you fell asleep, you found yourself with a cheeky smirk, hearing the man hum so beautifully some kind of melody unknown to you. “One of these days, I’ll kiss that scar on your lips.” you felt an amused exhale from him, as his grip tightened. Once he was sure you were sleeping, he leaned down to plant a kiss on top of your head. “Zayka moya. (My bunny)” he muttered against your soft hair.
--- KAZUYA MISHIMA
Tumblr media
Kazuya fondly recalls the few, yet beautiful memories of his short childhood while meditating under the freezing water from the cascade. His mother’s warm embraces, her encouraging words... His grandfather’s sage advice as he taught his new fighting techniques that he could use against his dreadful father, his patience also, as he never got upset if he screwed up...
And then there was that sweet smile of yours that was able to get him through any hardship.
Your family and his were very close business partners - So close, in fact, that unbeknownst to either of you, your parents had you betrothed to one another . It was very satisfying, watching the two of you interact so well, it was going to be a successful arranged marriage that will produce capable heirs, and -
And Heihachi threw his son off a cliff.
Kazuya often wondered how you were doing. Hopefully, at least you were alive, and untouched by his own demon of a father. He killed Jinpachi, and he killed Kazumi. Like hell he’d let him kill you as well, if you’re still alive.
He once promised you that he will become the strongest fighter there is - And he is going to prove himself, by destroying his own father. 21 years he trained his body, mind and soul, just for this battle alone. To kill Heihachi Mishima. He was going to make you proud, he swore, clutching tightly the necklace that you have gifted him, long ago.
Finally, after so many years, Kazuya was ready to destroy his arch enemy - Entering the Tekken tournament that was being held by his own father, and he joined in, easily making it all the way to the top. Now, the final was going to take place, and he was fighting Heihachi - The perfect vengeance plan was going to unfold.
As he walked towards the fighting ground, but instead of his father, he saw a beautiful woman, looking distraught. She looked small, and frail, and completely out of place - Yet at soon as he he linked eyes with her, they both froze in place. “Kazuya...?” he heard you whisper out his name. He couldn’t believe it. The woman, grown, so ethereal before his very eyes -- It was the cute little girl that would hug him and kiss him all the time, that he would play tag and chase around the garden... And she would always praise him when he’d show off, training at the dojo. “You’re alive...! You’re alive, I can’t believe it!” “What are you doing here?” he asked, only to see his father’s silhouette prancing behind you, his large hand over your shoulder, gripping tight enough to make you whimper.
It turns out, Heihachi had his men kidnap you and keep you guarded, used as bait for Kazuya, just to make sure he was truly dead. Surely, if he wasn’t, he’d fight tooth and nail against him, just to save his beloved from the grasp of the monster, otherwise, he would kill you also, and he would have to watch the life leave your very eyes.
Even more enraged than before, Kazuya destroyed the traitor that his father was, and in the most symbolistic act of revenge, he threw him off the very same cliff from which he, himself, had been thrown. He then made his way back to your side, and though almost afraid at first, he pulled you into a tight embrace, astounded at feeling your heart beating against his chest so rapidly. “Why did you never tell me you were alive? I missed you so much...” you muttered, resting your forehead against his torso. “I was afraid you might become a target, meant to get to me. I did not want people to know I was still alive. Now that I have finally gotten my revenge, I can take over the company and live a normal life... If you’ll still have me.” he cupped your face, and glued his forehead to your own - For the first time since that day, 21 years ago, he achieved true peace. “There’s nothing else that I would love more than to spend every day of my life by your side.” Kazuya was happy. Truly happy.
--- KUNIMITSU
Tumblr media
Kunimitsu tried, yet failed once again, to steal Yoshimitsu’s legendary sword. She had failed her mother’s wishes once more, and she was more evil than ever. In her blind, rageful plight, she didn’t realise she rammed hard into a person, stumbling together to the ground. She groaned, cursing herself for not paying attention, and getting up, she looked to see what victim she made - It was a man, struggling to get up.
She said nothing - Instead, she wanted to turn about and leave, but the gasp of pain as the man couldn’t get up, made her feel guilty. Men must live with the consequences of their actions - She remembers her Master’s teachings, and she put the man on her back and said no word - Yet they reached no settlement, and her own home was pretty far away, so they had to camp. “Stay.” she grumbled at him, putting the man carefully on a log as she bandaged his leg and went to get some food and water.
In the meantime, you could only sit quietly and patiently until the ninja lady returned to take care of you. Though you tried to have a proper conversation with her, to explain that she needn’t take care of you and all that - She did not answer at all. Instead, she got up. “Go sleep. I’ll keep watch.” it wasn’t easy, sleeping on the grass by the campfire, but it was the only thing you could do until she could finally get you home. But the dream world came unexpectedly faster, aided by the sweet sound of a flute melody playing ever so soothingly, accompanied only by the silent breeze and the choir of toads and crickets.
The next day, the ninja went to get some food so you wouldn’t leave the place on an empty stomach, but did not expect to get you attacked by petty thieves trying to rob you. “Leave him alone.” she sneered, at at the speed of light, everyone was dead, in pieces, on the ground. You couldn’t but gasp - If you had blinked, you’d have missed all the gracious moves that she had performed at the such speed - She was, by far, the most beautiful miracle that you ever experienced. “Th-Thank you...” you manage to stammer out, gulping at the intimidating ninja lady who just saved you from the threatening robbers. “Don’t thank me for taking a life.” putting out the fire, she put you on her back again, yet this time, she managed to get you back home.
You asked if she wanted to stay the night and rest, have a proper warm meal and a comfortable bed to stay at - But she refused. She had to return to her ill mother, after all.
Watching the kunoichi disappear before your very eyes, you sighed pitifully - You know you would miss interacting with this lady, although she didn’t exactly reciprocate - But she wasn’t hostile either, so it must account for something!
Though you fell asleep to the thought of the strong ninja lady protecting you, the moment you woke up, you found on the pillow next to you, something odd. It was an origami fox, and on it, there was a name written.
Kunimitsu
--- LING XIAOYU
Tumblr media
The two of you became immediate best friends in highschool, being in the same class - She was so beautiful, and always cheerful and positive, not to mention supportive with every of your hobbies! You had no idea she was a fighter, though the toned muscles of her slender, feminine arms should have made it obvious that she enjoyed working out, more or less.
Or perhaps you should have picked up on this thing when she’d confidently stand up for you when you’d get bullied. The way she’d beat up those jerks was outstanding, and you couldn’t but stare starstruck at her.
She’d even take you on rides on Panda whenever you’d fell down by something happening in your life  - She’d say she loves hanging out with you, because you’re nice to her all the time, and you genuinely want to see her being happy. “You’re just so pretty when you smile!” she’d say, making you feel all flustered up.
It was you, the first person who ever knew and supported her in her dream of becoming a proper fighter - But because she was a woman, her family didn’t support her. But you did. You always did, and will continue to do so.
And you were the person that she brought along when she was finally able to join a Tekken tournament - You were worried for her, but at the same time, you were happy that she could finally accomplish her desires.
Every time she’d get hit, you cringe, feeling her pain - And every time she’d win, you’d cheer the loudest on her - And when she was finished with the fight, she’d jump-hug you and kiss your cheek.
But being such a renowned Tekken fighter meant that she often had enemies... Enemies who ended up ganging up on you and threatening you, unless you call her to get over. You refused at first, but after getting a pistol at your temple, you called Xiaoyu, telling her to meet up, but also that she’s in danger if she does.
She wasn’t afraid though. Xiaoyu is fearless - And more than anything, Xiaoyu is mad. How dare anyone harm the person she loves so much? They were going to pay for it! Dropping down from a building, she kicked and jabbed away at all the weapon-wielding villains, knocking them all down, before whistling for Panda to come over and carry the two of you away.
“Are you okay?!” she looked so upset as she hugged you tightly to her chest. “I’m so sorry I put you in danger like that! I... I didn’t think anyone would go so far! It’s not like I have any vendetta against people... Ohh, maybe we should stop being friends, I don’t want to put you in danger like that ever again!” she was so gloomy, genuinely shuddering at the idea of you being threatened like that again - So very worried, that you couldn’t help but kiss her to stop worrying so much. “It’s okay, Xiaoyu, it’s really okay. I-I knew you’d protect me. You always do... So I wasn’t afraid!” you reassured her, though your cheeks were flushed red with embarrassment, and you couldn’t even meet her eyes. Xiaoyu giggled sweetly, throwing her arms around your neck and peppering your face with kisses. “That was sooo adorable~!”

TEKKEN 8 - Reina Reveal & Gameplay Trailer
TEKKEN 8 will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on January 26, 2024.
First details on Reina via The PlayStation Blog:
A design that emphasizes the duality in Reina‘s character. We were eager to work with Ms. Mariko Shimazaki, who had previously contributed as a designer for characters like Kazumi and Josie for Tekken 7. We contacted her to handle the design during the early stages of brainstorming character concepts and keywords, despite giving her the challenging task of capturing a genuine martial artist’s appearance with a bold fighting style that blends elements of Taido and Mishima-style karate, while being a young woman who appears somewhat mysterious and has that duality. She delivered an exceptional design. Thanks to the design proposals we received from Ms. Shimazaki, the grand direction for Reina was clear from the beginning. In creating the 3D model, we worked on incorporating elements related to her hidden background and duality and how to shape it into an appealing design. So, please do keep an eye out for these aspects. Attacks that reflect her personality and acrobatic movement based on Taido Reina employs an acrobatic fighting style rooted in Taido, using swift and brutal techniques such as knife-hand strikes, eye pokes, and scratching that reflect her character. She utilizes a special movement called Sentai to close the distance quickly and launch rushes, while Unsoku allows her to deliver powerful attacks with agile footwork, demonstrating a speedy and aggressive combat approach. In addition, Reina has somehow acquired techniques like Wind God Fist and Spinning Demon, synonymous with the Mishima-style karate, and even exhibits a power fighter aspect, delivering powerful moves from the Heaven’s Wrath stance once used by Heihachi, who is now deceased. Her offensive capabilities near walls, in particular, are among the most potent of all characters. A design that emphasizes the duality in Reina‘s character. tekken is such a funny series. like it is at its core an emotional, highly dramatic and personal story of the clash between bloodlines, the centre that holds it together is just amazing. (sometimes it’s written badly. but that’s ok). But then it’s just got a big shell of weirdness and the most insane shit a game series could ever have. I cannot figure out a good metaphor for this
most people’s impressions of tekken is the core, sure, that it’s a serious series of normal-looking guys beating eachother up, but.. it is so weird past the surface
like you got Heihachi Mishima, intimidating bastard with incredible hair falchions, who.. has trained three separate bears in his personal Mishima-style fighting karate. And he names them all ‘bear’ in Japanese or Panda. because she is a panda
Bryan Fury seems like just a normal criminal sociopath guy who is a bastard, but he’s actually just a full cyborg with an entirely artificial body. who is also a bastard sociopath guy who enjoys causing pain
the director of the series Katsuhiro Harada, infamous stubborn as hell guy, has confirmed that having the devil gene, bloodline powers that invoke the name of Devil (devil being both an adjective and a person here) prevents the Mishima bloodline from having male pattern baldness
there is both incredibly accurate and beautiful martial arts animation, of real techniques that looks like it had so much love and care put into it, Hwoarang’s taekwondo, Eddie’s capoeira, Steve’s boxing, Leo/Julia’s baji quan; so much of it is incredible. but they also put in a bunch of not very credible but. pretty cool stuff, and they make that also look so beautiful and perfect, Leroy’s wing chun, Marshall’s jeet kune do, a guy named King with a jaguar mask who does actual pro wrestling on people. just in tekken 7 they added Claudio, a fucking exorcist of a secret millenia old order who does Sirius-style Exorcist Fighting Arts and uses Real Magic. it’s all so satisfying and good
this series makes me both so excited for each narrative turn and also has like 20 different plot threads they created and forgot about (the nature of Asuka’s powers, Kazuya/Paul’s rivalry, Julia’s whole deal about defeating the devil gene, literally all of Leo, Feng and Hwoarang’s backstories in later games) (I guess that part’s because of how many characters there are, not everyone can be focused on and developed even with like a new sentence of development in their bio)
I truly love tekken and it has forever touched my heart. and also the music is real good. yodeling in meadow hill (hidden retreat) tekken 6? kinder gym tekken 7?  dr. bosconovitch theme tekken 3?
man. I can’t wait for tekken 8. I wanna play Leroy so bad.

So I did some concept art of a Tekken superhero AU where the characters are costumed heroes/villains. Here is Lee's design; I am focusing on Tekken 1/2 characters and that era first so those characters would be considered "1st generation" heroes. My idea for Lee is to have him start off as a vigilante who slowly develops a more heroic outlook on life. His costume is based on his Tekken 2 alt. Lee's hero bio is below:
Lee Chaolan a.k.a. "Silver Fang"
The adopted son and brother of Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima respectively, Chaolan was raised in the ways of his twisted family; learning to value strength & power above all. The Mishima family was infamous among the criminal underground for their cruelty not only towards their underlings, but towards members of the family as well. Kazuya, the eldest son, was no different. He firmly believed in subjugating Chaolan to intense physical mistreatment and humiliation to put him in his place.
Enraged and jealous of the fact that his brother was to be the heir to the Mishima empire, Chaolan began blowing off steam by entering underground fighting tournaments in disguise. One night, an old family friend & Kungfu master who frequently visited them named Wang Jinrei caught Chaolan sneaking out, following him to the tournament venue. Amused, Wang confronted Chaolan afterwards; eager to know the reasoning behind the young man's escapades. Chaolan relented & informed the old man of his frustrations making him promise to keep it a secret. Wang agreed under the condition that Chaolan stop entering tournaments, &, seeing potential in the young man, offered to train him without the knowledge of Heihachi or Kazuya.
Under intense training by the old master, Chaolan improved his fighting techniques, even adding his own unique touch to them. When the young man was deemed skilled enough, Wang advised his student to forge his own path & forgo his ambitions of succeeding his family's business. He suggested Chaolan use his skills to not only protect the innocent, but also develop positive connections with other like-minded individuals. Chaolan found the advice odd, but was willing to try distracting himself from the anger that constantly stirred within him. Donning a mask & the moniker "Silver Fang", he decides to watch out for the various criminals operating in the city that he knew of due to his family's connections to them. In Chaolan's eyes, those organizations were no different from his family which he had come to despise over the years. To him, thwarting their plans would bring him satisfaction no matter how small & might even serve to annoy his brother, should he ever take notice.

[Tekken 8 Spoilers]
Now that Jin got rid of his and Kazuya's devil gene, and Kazuya was still a raging asshole, can we finally drop the "KAzUyA iS MiSunDerStOoD, He'S OnLy EvIl bEcAuSE Of HeihAcHi AnD The DeVil'S iNfluEnCe" narrative?
From the very moment Kazuya learned he has a son, all he wanted to do was kill him to take his powers for himself, he then positioned himself as a fake hero to mankind when Jin started his war but his only motive was that Jin, and then Heihachi, couldn't have absolute power, because that's his thing.
Kazuya is an extremely one-note character, he only wants power for the sake of having power and being the strongest. It's no wonder he and Paul, the self-proclaimed strongest man in the universe, were initially rivals. His only character development, ever, was switching from the "hero" in Tekken 1 to the villain in Tekken 2. He doesn't care for anything or anyone else. He only cares for having control over everyone.
My questions about Reina's father being indeed Heihachi and not Kazuya were also finally answered, although that is, once again a retcon regarding how one possesses the devil gene and also renders Lars' mere existence as a character completely useless lmao. But it's still quite interesting that they found a way to introduce a new secondary, or possibly main, villain besides Kazuya.
Jun's return was... Interesting? She's not a ghost after all and even though she did not canonically fight she is indeed alive. Just like Nina and Anna and Ivy before her, Namco found yet another way to keep a woman for aging past her 30s and left her looking young through the power of... Alchemy, this time... Whatever, at least she's actually back and this is not a one time "ooh I'm a spiritual guide" type of thing. She genuinely believed Kazuya could be somehow saved (I fail to see why) so maybe she will attempt to "fix him" in Tekken 9. Honestly if they do to Kazuya what they did to Heihachi in Tekken 7 and make up excuses as to why "yeah he wasn't so evil after all" it will be hilarious 😂
Most interesting of all perhaps is Jin switching back to his old Heihachi-taught Mishima-style karate, and even older Jun-taught techniques, my goodness! And with Devil Jin officially gone, that means that they can't use him as an alternate Jin fighting style anymore so I guess we'll get a Tekken 3+Tekken 4-8+Kazama Jin from now on? Excellent work on the music choices once again, with his Tekken 3 theme playing when he switched back to his Tekken 3 playstyle and Tekken 2's ending playing when he started using Kazama moves!

@teslagravity asked . . . "So...are we going to talk about how you didn't say anything about Reina's oddly suspicious technique?"
Tumblr media
Reina ? Jin had actually forgotten about her for a moment. What happened to her ? He's unsure if it's important to dwell on that question right now. Lars asked one that he should've seen coming.
Tumblr media
❝ What would've happened if I did mention them ? ❞ They were already busy with Kazuya, should they really had add another concern to the stacked plates if there was no real concern to begin with ? ❝ I asked her. She told me she attends Mishima Polytechical School, & that she studied the moves off the internet. Figured she must've looked up to the school's founder. If not, I then figured we needed all the help we could get. ❞

One of my pottery projects was to create Sgraffito and/or Mishima story cups, so I based this one on The Narrator!
This was made with the Sgraffito technique, which is applying colored underglaze to clay, then scraping it away in a design to reveal the clay underneath. I found a bunch of quotes from the Narrator and used as many as I could.
My other cup uses the Mishima technique, carving patterns into the clay, then applying colored underglaze, and finally scraping away the excess underglaze to reveal the patterns. I covered the cup in all of the buttons I could find in the game, and used a quote from the Narrator in the bottom.
I’ll include more pictures of both mugs below.
The cups came out of the kiln yesterday, and hopefully I will have time to glaze them Wednesday, so I should be able to share the finished products soon :)

If YTTD characters had a YT channel what do you think they’d post?
Sara Chidouin - She posts vlogs with her friends. She doesn't want/expect them to do any numbers, she just wants to document the good times spent with people she cares about.
Joe Tazuna - Joe seems like the type to film random clips of his day and then upload them to YouTube because...why not? It's not always interesting stuff either, it's mostly just ten seconds of a cool park he found or a cute dog he saw.
Gin Ibushi - I mostly think his channel would be talking about how awesome the Mew-Chan brand of stuffed animals are or giving out real animal facts.
Keiji Shinogi - I feel like Keiji would give advice on how to avoid legal trouble with police.
Alice Yabusame - Alice worked as manger for Reko's band so I feel like if he had a YouTube he would just promote the stuff she made. But pre death game wise I could see him making fashion content as he's shown in island mode and his cell flashback to have a fondness for it. Though I could see him using so many stripes and gaudy outfits that people begin to think it's a parody.
Reko Yabusame - I think she'd post a lot of her music and covers. Sometimes she's answer comments from fans.
Nao Egokoro - Nao posts a lot of videos about paintings. From analyzing their meanings to showing different techniques and ranking their difficulty.
Kazumi Mishima - I feel like Mishima would start by teaching school lessons, but then he would end up being more well known for answering questions in his comments in an insightful way. Before long he'd be known more as the question guy then the teacher guy.
Q-taro Burgerberg - He mostly posts the best of his sports reels in hope a major management company will see them. But instead he gets well know for a video of him and his baseball buddies running around intoxicated.
Kai Satou - Is there any doubt that he would post cooking content? I also think he'd make the occasional video about maintaining a home and advice on how to do chores.
Kanna Kizuchi - Her YouTube would be borderline a family channel. She films her sisters and parents going about their day to day and their interactions.
Shin Tsukimi - My gut instinct was he would download video's that seemed like they were going to be taken down and repost them. (EX: Bad Youtuber apologies, videos that contain copywrited material, a video where someone says something they should.) and he would 100% do this for monetary gain.
Dolls
Ranmaru Kageyama - I feel like he just rambles to himself and then posts it because he assumes no one will see it. And he's right in his case.
Naomichi Kurumada - He gives workout advice.
Anzu Kinashi - Slime videos.
Mai Tsurugi - I feel like she mostly posts baking vides, and then one day she posts a knife throwing tutorial that goes mega virial because of the contrast against her normal content.
Shunsuke Hayasaka - I can't see him wanting a YouTube channel but he does show up in Gin's videos a lot. He's always so very awkward.
Hinako Mishuku - She makes what looks like normal videos that have jump scares randomly in the middle.

A lot of people (rightfully so) point out that Jin Kazama has had character devlopment, in changing from believing “Power is Everything” to “Strengh isn’t Everything” but his character devlopment goes so much deeper than that and it’s a portion of character devlopment we don’t get to see a lot in videogames (or media kinda)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Character Devlopment though action or in this case, movelist. Jin using not only Mishima Style Karate( a fighting style he unlearned in Tekken 4 onwards) AND his Devil Jin Form(albeit partially). Jin has changed from a being in a perpetual loop of self hatered, directed at his blood shared by his father, to a person who is accepting himself and all he’s gone through.
I’m just amazed because you don’t play many videogames where a character’s moveset/movelist is indicative of their devlopment as a character. Not in terms of techniques being learned by the character, but the readiness to use techniques as it applies to gameplay.

I'm finally (FINALLY) getting around to posting these proper photos I took of the lichen mugs in their natural habitat (Georgian Bay)!
Most of these sold at a summer market, but I'm just starting a new batch of mugs & will definitely be making a few more lichen ones. I'm also working on some bigger mugs as well, for people like me who absolutely require a half-litre of tea/coffee at a time...these wee mugs ended up being baby-cups at 200-250ml because I forgot about clay shrinkage (since this was my first time in ages making pieces where that mattered!).

Tekken 8 adds newcomer Reina
Gematsu Source
Tumblr media
Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Tekken 8 revealing newcomer Reina as a playable character.
“Reina was a character conceived during Tekken 7’s story development a decade ago,” Tekken 8 director Kohei Ikeda said in a PlayStation Blog post. “She plays a vital role in Tekken 8’s story, The Dark Awakens. Despite her fashionable and charming appearance, she exudes a charismatic sense of evil, reflecting her character’s duality in both personality and fighting style.”
Here is more on Reina, via Ikeda:
Attacks That Reflect Her Personality and Acrobatic Movement Based on Taido
Reina employs an acrobatic fighting style rooted in Taido, using swift and brutal techniques such as knife-hand strikes, eye pokes, and scratching that reflect her character. Reina is a character that emphasizes duality in various aspects. To create a distinct counterpart to the powerful Mishima-style karate, we chose Taido as the second fighting style. Taido is known for its graceful and speedy movements, with sharp and agile attacks. When producing Reina’s Taido techniques, we collaborated with the renowned expert, Mr. Tetsuji Nakano, who has won the Taido World Championships four times. Mr. Nakano is not only knowledgeable in Taido but also in various other martial arts. His advice on brutal techniques helped bring out the distinctive features and personality in Reina’s movements even more.
A Design that Emphasizes the Duality in Reina’s Character
Tekken 8 is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on January 26, 2024.

Tekken 8 noob tries Reina for 30 days #tgp #tokengamespodcast #eyonex #tokencast #tokenpodcast  Wanna see more of us?    https://linktr.ee/zaxpear #tekken8 #reinamishima  Full script    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1t...                         Summary: Reina is a character much like her outfit who is born in-between 2 design philosophies, those being, the “attractiveness” of the cool character, that ppl will choose to play over many, whilst also being a complex character to the point of potentially deterring newcomers from utilizing her.  Reina also has traditional moves and skills that are intrinsically connected to the Mishima “bloodline” that may offer seasoned Tekken players some familiarity allowing for enhanced initial performance in combat due to these signature techniques being memorized by older players, essentially without trying Reina has mastered new player appeal as well as old player appeal. In spite of her irregularly high minimum skill level needed to truly become proficient with her.  Because of this players should consider having her as a secondary more than a primary with the sole exception being newcomers who may have an easier time registering her hard stances skills and movements to memory as they have no “default/bread & butter” skills they can apply to her as she is completely new. 1 can only hope she is in the next SUPER SMASH BROS GAME!!

This bowl uses two special techniques! the first is called "sgraffito" (means "to scratch" in Italian), where, before it's fired, you paint on underglaze (a special type of glaze that can be used before the first firing. i used red in this case, it's in the middle), and then carve into the clay, revealing the original color of the clay!
however, i decided that just the white color of the clay would blend in too much with the pink glaze, so i used a second special technique! This one's called "mishima" (the name of city in Japan, although it was invented in Korea so idk why it's called that). You paint in glaze so it goes into the carvings (originally they would use a contrasting color of clay!), then wipe off the excess, so the lines look super bold.
