Both Ming and Joe are stuck in the past.

Wanting something they lost.

And being miserable about it.

But old habits die hard.

And love is a habit.

Which makes it the hardest to kill.

Me and my sister were looking for something to watch while eating our lunch together the other day and she stumbled across some new Hocus Pocus movie and she suggested we watch that but then I was hesitant and told her that since we haven't watched the previous ones, we can't watch the new ones and then she said, "we don't have to know exactly what happened in the past to be able to enjoy the present" and we started watching that movie and we did enjoy it but that quote did stick with me and change my perspective on life big time.

don't get me wrong I liked twilight princess's gameplay, but wind waker was the PERFECT ocarina of time sequel and they didnt need another one. It's themes actually fit ocarina's narrative and message.

ocarina of time was about losing your childhood as we all know (majoras mask has themes of healing which is important later)

wind waker had a theme of letting go of the past, and having hope for the future. Ganondorf and the king were focused on the past, trying to take back a world that had already slipped through their fingers. That's literally why ganon loses. He's too obsessed with something that's already been lost. Zelda and Link show the king that there IS hope for the future, and that it's OKAY to let go. The game perfectly potrays how clinging to the past can affect the future, in ways big or small. People in real life can relate

Ocarina of time is a story about the tragedies of losing your childhood, your innocence, and growing up. Majora's Mask (my favorite game of all Time) is about healing, making people at peace with themselves, about grief, self discovery…and wind waker ties it all together with hope for the future. (I KNOW MM IS A SEPERATE TIMELINE. THE THEMES JUST MATCH!!)

truama/loss > healing, self discovery > finally letting go.

Merlin but Merlin loses it when Arthur dies and instinctively starts a time loop and every time Arthur dies it automatically resets...for angst purposes it could stay tragic..no matter what he does to change the past kilgharra was right. no one can change their destiny nor can they escape it. or by starting this time loop at all he's doing is preventing the rise of the once and future king so by staving off Arthur's death he's actually preventing anyone from ever really living again. a never ending story with one character aware of the narrative but powerless to change it. a puppet with a brain but no autonomy to put it to use. A tragedy of his own making instead the one prophesized

I get that the last name Mason is derived from “stonemason” and their descendants but. Did you ever think about being named after literally creating? Ever think about shaping something with your calloused hands and having that be your legacy? Ever think about centuries passing and people forgetting your origins and time passes you by?

Thinking about how this timeline's world is shrouded in darkness and decay. The arcane smothers it like mold, with the singular exception being the final resting place for this world's Jayce.

The Herald of this world preserved him, couldn't release him to total conformity. He let him rest, ensured he had sunlight, plants, and creatures not fully tainted by his mistake.

Then there's this visual framing of our Jayce's acceptance of his role in the past, present, and future.

And this framing of Viktor and Jayce regarding each other through the fragments of what was once Jayce's mind. The thriving flowers, moss, insects make his memory feel alive. Cherished. Beloved. At least compared to the desolate, metallic horror seen in the rest of this world.

And finally the gentleness of this gesture. Maybe this world's Jayce is still in there somewhere, trapped but not alone. Or perhaps Viktor is only animating the corpse of his regret for our Jayce's benefit. Either way, it is a touch filled with an eternity of tenderness and hope.
