I officially go back to work Monday. I set my alarm for six this morning so I could reacclimate to waking up that early (then promptly went back to bed 😂); I’ve been up at at ‘em proper since 11, poked around in some of the stores I frequent, got my obligatory Shot Day Treat, and just took my shot twenty-ish minutes ago. My goal is to go to bed around the same time I normally do on work nights (which I’ve spent most of quarantine doing anyway, because I haven’t had the energy to do anything but sleep and nap, but like. I wanna do it PROPERLY tonight).
Here’s the rundown so far of Covid, Week 2: they blipped in and out for a couple days, but overall, my senses of taste and smell remain intact! Being as fanatical as I am about fragrances, I’m ecstatic! Still coughing every so often, but not the constant fits I was having this time last week. The Big Ones still affecting me are fatigue, shortness of breath, and a combo of vertigo and general dizziness, all issues I already dealt with that are just. Off the charts now. I’m genuinely not sure how I’m gonna survive work from the fatigue alone, holy shit. 😭 Thankfully my boss and coworkers are really kind and understanding! So long as I put forth my best effort, I think they’ll be willing to help me should I need help.
I’m anxious about trying to get back to business as usual, but also grateful and hopeful. I’m ready to stop being a useless lump and actually get shit done. 😆

won’t comment this on the same post because it’s probably not what they want to hear rn but i know that some people HAVE “cured” their CFS, or rather have been able to manage it and return to moderate activity levels, by essentially “gradually building stamina.” but the approach and mentality behind the pacing approach is SOOO different than what the average person assumes “gradually building stamina” must look like, and always errs on the side of MINIMUM activity because of the seriousness of PEM. like it sucks to have the 3 mile walks you were once accustomed to suddenly make you bedridden the next day. that’s why pacing would mean, for a very long period of time, going on… a five minute walk, if that’s where you’re at. a one minute walk around your living space a few times a day. or ten seconds of standing, if completely bedridden. but if you’re not bedridden and are doing things around the house, even just if sitting up to work at a computer, pacing ALSO means laying down flat and having a full body rest multiple times a day, scheduled throughout the day. it means not just allowing rest, but ENFORCING it. the barrier to people with CFS slowly building their stamina back up is usually this idea that part of that endeavor involves willpower, that if you can just will it hard enough, try harder, the CFS will go away. how could you possibly need MORE rest when you’re doing nothihg? when this mentality is the opposite of what CFS needs. people who’ve successfully gotten their old lives “back” after CFS have done it by respecting PEM, erring on the side of caution, being so gentle with themselves and careful not to send themselves into a flare-up.

arms were lookin biiiig today 🤩
worked on hip and shoulder strengtheners today at the gym. lots of banded exercises. wrist pain stopped me short on pulldowns and shoulder pain limited my shoulder press but I backed off as soon as I felt sharp pain and now that I’m home everything feels ok. trying not to be mad at my body, and overall it was a good session. and no sciatic pain so there has still been good progress 😊
on another note the ghost preworkouts are like crackkkkk. and taste so fucking good 🤤 I don’t use pre regularly but now and again an energy drink is just fun lol. getting turnt this friday I guess 😂
happy long weekend everyone!!

From Cold to Hot: Importance of Warming Up Before Exercise
Are you someone who likes to jump  into a workout without taking the time to warm up first? If so, you may be putting yourself at risk for injury and missing out on the many benefits of warming up. In this article, we’ll explore the importance of warm up before exercise and why it should be an important part of your workout routine. We’ll also discuss the science behind warm-ups, the different types of warming, and tips for creating a good warm-up. So let’s get started!
Tumblr media
Why is Warming Up Before Exercise Important?
Warm up before exercise is important to prepare your body and mind for physical activity. When you warm up, your body goes through  physiological changes to prepare you for the demands of exercise. These changes include an increase in heart rate, blood flow, and respiration, as well as a decrease in muscle tone and an increase in muscle tone. Without a proper warm-up, you increase your risk of injury because your muscles and joints are not adequately prepared for the stress of exercise.
A warm-up is a period of low-intensity exercise or stretching that prepares the body for more vigorous exercise. A good warm-up should accomplish many things. First, it should help improve oxygen and nutrients by increasing blood flow to  working muscles. Second, it should keep the heart beating and breathing, helping to prepare the cardiovascular system to increase exercise. Thirdly, it is necessary to warm up the muscles, which will help reduce injuries and make the muscles flexible. Finally, a warm-up can help you mentally prepare  for your workout and improve focus and concentration. READ MORE....

anyway. i think more people need to stop reacting to "this post leaves out people like xyz" type additions with "i'm literally xyz shut up!" when the post itself literally does not mention people like xyz even once and reads as though people who are like xyz were not even considered. like, just because you are xyz doesn't mean that's clear in your post. people are not automatically accusing you of hating or not caring about people like xyz for bringing up that a specific post leaves them out. (and also people are not reading every inch of your blog before responding to a one-off post they encountered on someone else's blog.)
if you make a post about abc and leave out xyz, then people who live at the intersection of abc and xyz are allowed to mention that the intersection exists. just because you also live at that intersection but didn't point it out doesn't mean people are attacking you or whatever.
whatever happened to assuming "yes, and"? why does everyone assume (and react in kind with) "no, fuck you" nowadays?
