 Pariah Dark, Ghost King, warrior, tyrant, world-breaker, Ancient of Darkness, is utterly gobsmacked. The sarcophagus had been opened- something he wasn’t honestly expecting seeing as it was supposed to be for eternity- and he had honestly just been blinking awake. It took a minute or few to properly wake up, but who could blame him? It wasn’t like there was anyone before him who could have opened his prison. 

 Though that wasn’t what had him utterly befuddled. He was rather certain that he had not gotten locked into the Sarcophagus of Sleep with several literal ghost infants. 

Well mostly infants, one is more like the equivalent of a three or four year old but still. And he has a rather panicked sort of feeling breaking through his usual bloodlust, because they all look really similar to his not-exactly ex. Same white hair, same wispy ghost-tail, same tiny fangs and claws currently being bared at him and each other. But they also kind of look like him, what with two having hair aflame- one even had black hair like he once did before his insanity- and even having red eyes. Most even had his own corpse-pale skin, though he could see a more blue tint on a couple and one more similar to his brother’s. 

So yes, Pariah Dark is very much panicking and trying to do the math in his head. A visit to Clockwork might be in his best interest…

I made a post all about Sanji going above and beyond for Zoro’s cravings and taking care of him through food, but I also see him throwing a total hissy fit when Zoro is craving junk food. Like he’d rather get like Taco Bell instead of Sanji making it for him.

oooohhh now I need to know more about bond sickness like would it be different for a child like bruce than a kinda partner like alfred? like aside from the fact that they're omega and beta? i love your portrayal of this with grown up bruce and jason, and would love to read more of your thoughts on this... Also... probably not at all related but would LOVE to read your thoughts on this for alphas as well, like the whole grief process for an Alpha like Clark after pa kent died for example, like is the scent as obvious and kinda repulsive as it was with bruce after jason?

Definitely different! Losing a parent-pup bond is different than a romantic/partner bond. Alfred also lost his Pack Alpha and Pack Omega in one fell swoop, which doubles his pain. Bruce was still a pup, and losing his parent bond was absolutely awful, but I think Alfred probably had a worse time as an adult beta. He had no one after that -- at least Bruce had him, someone who was pack and an authority figure.

I think there are some interesting physical and mental symptoms of bond sickness, some of which Alfred could stave off and others he truly couldn't. I'm not sure Bruce would fall into bond sickness since he would still have Alfred, though I'm sure he got close. Maybe that was why Alfred desperately was trying to keep them together in those first initial days and weeks. Trying to keep Bruce alive as his last surviving pack member, you know?

I also think betas are more resilient to bond losses than alphas or omegas. Alfred could survive bond sickness while trying to take care of Bruce, because he had been -- and continues to be -- the center of the pack. The heart, the caretaker. His need to survive to take care of Bruce keeps him alive and present.

For alphas -- yes, they also push out grief like omegas do. Their scents reflect that same kind of misery, where scenting them is a physically uncomfortable thing. I think they're less likely to go into a drop like omegas do sometimes during traumatic events, but it's not impossible. Grieving alphas probably have some different quirks than omegas, but the solution is usually the same -- closeness with pack, rest, time away from other people/non pack.

I will say, I think probably the worst kinds of lost bonds are a parent losing a pup. Especially an omega losing a pup they carried. Second would be a mated alpha/omega bond breaking. Those are most likely to cause bond sickness and drops.

5. What's your controversial marine biology take? Oh, have I been talking about my controversial takes these past few days! Ocean sunfish.... beautiful, so silly but so beautiful.

To name another thing, perhaps this is moreso something that grinds my gears rather than a controversial take but I haaaaate when people say that male seahorses get pregnant. It's what it looks like but it's not the case!!! He just has a pouch where the egg are deposited for safekeeping, it's like mouthbrooding but with a designated pouch!! He does not produce the eggs and all the nutrition the eggs receive was never from him!!! Perhaps I get too hung up on these aquatic animal technicalities, but it still makes me needlessly annoyed whenever in fiction there's like, seahorses, and they imply that the process of seahorse baby development is the exact same as human baby development but.... backwards for sexes..?

I think a lot about Zoro being scared out of his mind about childbirth, and how after is all said and done he considers it one of the worst things he's experienced. Since Zoro is a character who's all about control over the body, strength, and stoicism, childbirth would be hard for him to cope with.

And I think about how he has to open himself up to the love and support around him so he can get to the other side of it
