Day 1 of discovering "The Man from U.N.C.L.E"
Okay okay, I'm pretty new to this show (I actually hadn't even heard of it until a few weeks ago) and want to share my first impressions just for fun

So, I just watched my first ever episode (The Children's Day Affair S02 E12) and really liked it so far! The colours (bit of autumny with still a lot of summer's green) and the setting in this episode (bit of Switzerland in the beginning of autumn) are really nice and watching the whole thing, I really immediately thought 'This could be the right show for me'. Although I'm not quite sure yet how serious this show is meant to be. (Oh and pls don't spoil that for me; I wanna see how long it takes till I've figured out if it's the American answer to James Bond or a parody). It did feel pretty serious and professional (in comparison to other parodies of that time) but at the same time it was also so silly and somehow weirdly unnecessarily kinky?
What I really loved is the creativity of the show! Like a colourful game of model train psycho terror as climax? Hell yes, 30/10. That's something different! And again the colours and the interesting details really made this episode a pleasure to the eye! I totally loved the tray of flour shooting baguettes and the way Illya shoots underneath the car (? Sorry, no idea how to describe that stunt). And there were still lots of unexpected gadgets and methods even though I'm already used to a lot from my Get Smart! days haha
In terms of favourite character I have to admit that although I originally came here for David McCallum, so far I tend more towards Napoleon Solo. But let's see how that develops bc I'm not 100% happy with him either.

Favourite sentence probably was "I didn't know the cake was loaded!" & bonus point is definitely that they accidentally say my (in movies rarely used) name a few times throughout the episode and who wouldn't love Illya growling one's name? and Napoleon saying it almost affectionately
So yeah, great stuff all in all ;)
#Probably nobody cares but it's fun to document my journey haha#Now that the impressions are all fresh and I really barely know anything about TMFU#the man from uncle#illya kuryakin#napoleon solo#the children's day affair#U.N.C.L.E#not monty python

Wondering what boop count your 3 letter word corresponds to? I gotchu:
Using a python script I wrote, I booped myself 50,000 times, saving an image of my boop-o-meter every 500 boops. Before we get into the results, there are two important limitations to this study that I should mention:
Firstly, because I only recorded the boop-o-meter every 500 boops, if a message appeared for less than 500 boops it may not have been caught.
Secondly, every now and then my computer would lose a boop or two when a click wouldn't register. This is seen in the 500 and 1000 boop images below, which in reality read 498 and 994 respectively. Because of this, boop values are slightly lower than they appear.
With that out of the way, lets dig in.
0-999:
From boops 0-999, the boop-o-meter displays your boop count, and changes color as you boop
Boop count: 0 Boop count: 500 Boop count: 1000
Boop fact: the colors do not change after 1000
LOL:
Between boops 1000 and 1500, the boop-o-meter changed to display 'LOL'. This likely took place at 1000 boops, but maybe it said 'MAX' or sumn for awhile at first? Idk this is already the misinformation website so not my problem.
Boop count: 1500 (actually more like 1490 ish)
More results below the cut
OMG:
Between 1500 and 2000, the boop-o-meter changed to display 'OMG'. Again, this probably happened at 1500 but who knows. Maybe staff made it 1523 for the bit or something.
Boop count: ~2000
WOW:
The boop-o-meter remained at omg until the 3500 boop readpoint, when it switched to 'WOW', meaning this transition happens somewhere between ~2980 and ~3480.
Boop count: ~3500
Boop fact: 'WOW' is the second longest reigning message
*-*:
Between 5000 and 5500 the boop-o-meter switched to '*-*'. You get the idea at this point so I'll speed it up.
Boop count: ~5500
WHY:
The boop-o-meter changed to 'WHY' between 6000 and 6500 boops. For science. That's why.
Boop count: ~6500
PLZ:
Next was 'PLZ', switching between 7000 and 7500.
Boop count: ~7500
AAA:
I'm not sure what bloody urine has to do with anything, but for some reason staff felt is was important to display, switching between 7500 and 8000.
Boop count: ~8000
;_;:
Huh the colon makes that one look weird. 8000-8500.
Boop count: ~8500
Boop fact: That fucking cat haunts me in my dreams
0_0:
I realized after I set my pyautogui script running that my computer wouldn't turn off its screen because of the clicking, so there was a strobing blue light in my room all night. This encapsulated my expression while trying to sleep (8500-9000).
Boop count: ~9000
MAX:
After 9000 it displayed 'MAX'. This was cap. (9000-9500 switch).
Boop count: OVER 9000 (9500)
<33:
I miss my wife. 9500-10,000.
Boop count ~10,000
TUM BLR:
THE HOLY GRAIL. The boop-o-meter switched to displaying 'TUM BLR' between 10,000 and 10,500 boops. Because my actual boop count was slightly behind my theoretical, I'd guess that this change happened at 10,000 boops.
Boop count: ~10,500 (likely switched at 10,000)
Summary:
When charted the boop curve looks as follows:
Boop curve: 0 - 10,000 boops
My script continued to run until 53,000 boops, but no further changes were observed. Again, there were quite possibly more messages at lower boop values, but my ass is not checking. Maybe I should have scaled my sampling accordingly, but it is what it is. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and if you have any corrections or more information, please add it to this post.

I have fully reworked and redesigned my Apollo timeline!! These designs are meant to depict Apollo from 2591 B.C.E all the way to 392 C.E., so a good 2,983 years of life lol. A lot of things have changed from my first and second versions of this timeline (which you can see here and here if you're interested) so I'm just gonna rewrite the whole things here for y'all to read and enjoy! (Also disclaimer as always I am not a mythology expert, and I am taking some liberties with dates and time periods so sorry if anything seems off!)
Baby: 2591 B.C.E
Apollo is born. That's pretty much all that happens here.
Fighting Python/Exile: 2591-2582 B.C.E.
Right after being born, Apollo goes off to fight Python. After this, he is exiled from Olympus for nine years due to his crime of committing murder. During those nine years, he spends most of his time as either a shepherd or a traveling musician, and observes mortals and their ways of life a lot.
Pre-First Punishment: 2582-2300 B.C.E.
After his exile, Apollo is allowed to ascend to Olympus. He takes on a form that is extremely similar to the mortals he's been living amongst for the past nine years. As the youngest member of the Olympian Council, Apollo is slightly naive, but desperate to prove himself to the rest of his family. Myths that occur during this time: 1. Apollo finds and mentors Chiron 2. Artemis and Apollo successfully convince their father to release Prometheus from his punishment. 3. Periphas, a king of Attica and priest of Apollo, was so beloved by his people that they honored him above Zeus. This angered Zeus, and he sword he would strike Periphas down and burn his home to the ground. However, Apollo begged Zeus to spare Periphas' life, and Zeus acquiesced. Instead, Zeus turned Periphas into an eagle, the same eagle that now rests on the top of his sacred sceptre.
Post-First Punishment (Troy): 2300-1250 B.C.E.
Back from his time as a mortal, Apollo is now the patron god of the city of Troy. He is extremely attached to his people, and has taken on a lot of their fashions and customs. He is a bit more reserved on Olympus because of the punishment, but he is still young and sure of himself, and is often one of the most active gods on the council. Myths that occur during this time: 1. Hermes is born. 2. The music duel with Marsyas occurs, and he is flayn. 3. Lots of cities are founded on the west coast of Ionia (Modern day Türkiye), many with myths surrounding Apollo. The city of Miletus was founded and named after a son of Apollo. Klazomenai claimed Apollo as their principal god. The city of Colophon becomes the seat of the Oracle of Apollo Clarius, and one of his sons, named Mopsus, lives there. Erythraea is also connected to Apollo's oracle, as it is the birthplace of Herophile. Once you add Troy to the mix, it seems as if Apollo just did a tour of Ionia and set up a bunch of towns along the way, which I think is pretty cool. 4. The seven against Thebes make their march to restore Polynices, Oedipus' son, to the throne. One of the seven, Amphiaraus, was a seer and favored by Apollo (and sometimes his son!). Amphiaraus was fated to die in battle, but Apollo found multiple ways to stretch out his final moments. He redirected attacks so that Amphiaraus was not harmed, and when the man's charioteer was killed, Apollo took the reins himself. When Amphiaraus finally passed on, Apollo wept over his corpse and let him be consumed by the earth, creating an Oracle at that spot.
Asclepius: 1250-1210 B.C.E.
Asclepius is born and Apollo keeps the same look throughout his entire life! Apollo doesn't have much to do with it, but the Argonauts set sail during this time.
Stealing the bolt/Killing the Cyclops: 1210 B.C.E.
This design only lasts a couple of weeks. In his grief, Apollo loses himself.
Second Punishment 1210 B.C.E
Apollo is given to Admetus as a servant for several months. The punishment doesn't last long, but Apollo's time with Admetus is essential in his journey to heal from Asclepius' death.
Trojan War: 1194-1184 B.C.E.
The Trojan War breaks out less than 20 years after Asclepius' death, bringing ruins and carnage with it. Apollo fulfills his duty as the patron god of the city, and viciously protects Troy from the attacks of other Olympians.
Post-Trojan: 1184-940 B.C.E.
The war was lost, and Troy was sacked. In the time following this, Apollo distances himself from mortals, desperate to escape the pain and grief of the last 70 years. This period of his life ends with the myth of Daphne. Myths that occur during this time: 1. Dionysus is born 2. Apollo saves Hemithea and her sister Parthenos and makes them immortal. 3. Apollo's oldest known temple is built in Thebes.
Daphne and Hyacinthus 940-776 B.C.E.
After the death of Daphne, Apollo is devastated. While he had been avoiding the mortal realm before, now he became increasingly uncomfortable on Olympus. He stayed in the mortal realm often, building up his reputation and setting up his popularity in Ancient Greece proper, which was just breaking out of the Dark Ages. Near the end of this period, he loves and loses Hyacinthus. Myths that occur during this time: 1. The cult of Apollo from Crete brings his worship to Delphi officially, and his temple is built at the site. 2. Apollo's music duel with Pan occurs.
“Main” Apollo 776-500 B.C.E.
Starting with the first Olympic games, This period is defined by glory and worship. Apollo's popularity in Greece increases exponentially, and this is only added to once he takes the reins of the sun chariot. He meddles in mortal affairs often during this time, growing into the persona we see of him today. Myths that occur during this time: 1. Niobe's kids are killed 2. Apollo falls in love with Cyrene, and gives her a city. 3. Tarquin purchases the Sibylline books. Sometime before this, Apollo curses the Sibyl of Cumae. 4. The Pythagorean cult is established, a group that religiously followed the teachings of Pythagoras. Alongside this, they mainly worshiped Apollo at Delphi. They used math to break down music, and believed "the universe as a whole was composed of harmony and numbers". 5. Phorbas, who is either a savage king of Elis or a giant, preys on travelers on the pilgrimage to Delphi. To put a stop to this, Apollo challenges the man to a boxing match, and kills him during the fight. Another Phorbas, this one hailing from Rhodes, is often confounded with this one. Apollo dated the second Phorbas, so I bet this was very confusing for a lot of poor Greeks. 6. The city of Megara fought for independence from Corinth, and claimed Apollo as their patron god.
"Classical" Apollo 500-300 B.C.E.
As Ancient Greece moves into it's classical age, and the height of it's glory, Apollo's worship continues to grow. In the 400's, Pericles and the architects of the Acropolis in Athens used the money held by the Delian league (An allied group of islands in the Cyclades, lead by Delos) to create their temple to Athena, which held the Athena Parthenos. This, alongside many other ways in which Athens attempted to take control of the rest of Greece, caused tension in both the mortal world and Olympus. Apollo begins to see cracks in the foundations of Greece, but can not do much about it at the time. Myths that occur during this time: 1. The Peloponnesian war breaks out. It lasts 27 years, with Sparta claiming victory over Athens in the end. Olympus continues to degrade as Athena and Ares spar. 2. Shortly after this, the Theban War starts. Sparta had won the Peloponnesian war and taken Athens place as the head of Ancient Greece, but many city-states took issue with this. Both Corinth and Thebes waged war against Sparta, with Thebes being victorious in this struggle. Thebes was Dionysus' city, and Corinth, Poseidon's. The Olympian council continues to splinter. 3. Apollo's first temple in Rome is built. The Temple of Apollo Medicus was constructed outside of the religious boundary in Rome, as Apollo was still seen as a foreign deity at this time, and so his worship was not permitted in the city proper.
Late Greece (300-146 B.C.E)
Greece is falling apart at the seams, with civil wars breaking out all over the region. Rome is growing stronger to the west, and eventually takes over Greece completely at the end of this period. Apollo attempts to ignore the signs of failure, keeping up a relaxed, even as the war begins to devour Greece entirely. Myths that occur during this time: 1. Dionysus journeys to India 2. Trophonius and Agamethus are killed.
Fall of Greece: 146-32 B.C.E.
Olympus falls, and will not come back together for a while yet. With each deity lost and unfocused, they all have to find their own way back to their former glory. Apollo is one of the last to return to the council, spending centuries wandering the ruins of Greece, burying his people and mourning the culture that had been lost. It is not until Augustus brings his worship to Rome that Apollo returns to Mount Olympus.
Rome 32 B.C.E.- 140 C.E.
Apollo is now one of the chief gods in Rome. Even though he is at the same level of power and popularity that he had during the height of Greece, it doesn't feel the same. Apollo drifts, going through the motions with very little passion behind it. It takes some time for him to warm up to his new civilization, which leads to:
Late Rome 140 C.E.- 392 C.E.
As Rome continues to grow and prosper, Apollo begins to grow fond of it's people. He interacts with them far more, and begins to once again meddle in their affairs, especially when it comes to the various emperors that ruled the nation. This trend continues until the eventual end of pagan worship in Rome. Myths that occur during this time: 1. Apollo meets, falls in love with, and eventually kills Commodus. 2. The Bacchanalia, which was a private cult festival of the Dionysian cult of Liber that was full of drinking and mingling of all social classes, becomes popular. This festival is obviously associated with Bacchus first and foremost, but there was a common rumour amongst members of the cult that you could meet Apollo at these celebrations.
And that's the whole thing! Hope you all enjoyed, this took a lot of time and research lol.

Apollo as a Queer Deity

The Death of Hyacinthos (1801) by Jean Broc
Apollo has had many male lovers in Greek mythology. Most famously, he loved the young mortal Hyacinthus, the namesake for the hyacinth. But the list doesn’t stop there.
Admentus
Admentus of Pherae was the mortal king Lord Apollo was sentenced to serve for a year as punishment for slaying the Python at Delphi. Writers such as Plutarch, Callimachus, Tibullus, and Ovid described Apollo’s affection for Adementus with homoerotic overtones. Callimachus wrote that Apollo was “fired with love” for Admentus. In addition to his servitude, Apollo helped Admentus prolong his life by getting the Fates drunk and persuading them to let Admentus live, so long as he could find someone else to die in his place. When his parents would not die for him, Alecstis, Admentus’s wife, died for him instead. After realizing he didn’t want to live without his wife, Heracles - who was impressed with Admentus’s kind treatment of guests - descended into the Underworld and fought Thanatos, ultimately winning and returning Alecstis to the Land of the Living.
Adonis
Adonis was loved by many deities, Apollo included. Adonis was said to “act as a man with Aphrodite and act as a woman with Apollo.”
Branchus
Branchus was a seer of Apollo and in some traditions, is his lover. Sometimes Branchus was born with his seer abilities and other times his abilities are a gift from the god he received later in life. In his adulthood, Branchus worked in animal husbandry. Apollo, enamored with Branchus’s beauty, disguised himself as a goatherd. Apollo revealed his divinity by milking a male goat. After revealing his divinity, Branchus and Apollo became lovers and Branchus established a temple for Apollo at Didyma.
Cyparissus
Cyparissus was a boy whom Apollo loved. He gifted the boy a stag, but Cyparissus accidentally killed his beloved stag in a hunting accident. He prayed to Apollo for his grief to be immortalized, so Apollo changed him into a Cypress tree, which became sacred to Apollo.
Hyacinthus
Hyacinthus was a mortal youth whom both Apollo and Zephyrus loved. One day, while Apollo and Hyacinthus played discus a jealous Zephyrus looked on. Zephyrus, god of the west wind, decided to punish the couple by manipulating the winds, causing the discus to strike Hyacinthus in the head and killing him. Apollo, overcome with grief, immortalized his beloved by turning him into a hyacinth.
Some scholars interpret this myth as the hot sun killing crops in the summertime, as Hyacinthus was a minor Cthonic vegetation deity.
Iapyx
Iapyx was a favorite of Apollo and they were potentially lovers. Apollo wanted to bestow a gift on Iapyx. Iapyx elected to receive a longer life and skilled healing abilities.
My Personal Experience:
When I was 14, I cut all of my long, dark hair off which marked the beginning of my physical transition. I spent my teen years exploring my identity and coming into myself. The same time I overcame some prominent internalized transphobia was around the time I became a Hellenic polytheist. In an act of societal defiance, I decided to grow my hair back out.
I was 19 and completely on my own for the first time, and that year was one of the most transformational years of my life (so far). I learned about manhood, adulthood, and what masculinity means to me. Eventually though, it was time for me to cut all of my hair off. I had learned a lot about myself, one of them being I hate having long hair.
So again, I cut off my long, dark hair, this time with a better understanding of who I was and where I was going. In ancient times, boys would cut off their hair in the name of Apollo to signify their transition to manhood, and that is exactly what I did. Now, my last lock of long hair sits in an envelope, next to another labeled "First haircut, 2004" on my Apollo altar.
I don't know if many people turn to Apollo as a queer god, especially for transness. But with the journey I've been on, it only felt right.

My pieces for a zine that unfortunately got cancelled. But hey! At least I got to make a piece of my TFsona and my TFP OCs!
And if you’re interested in me info dumping about them, it’ll be below the cut!

This guy is my TFsona, Nyoom! So far, I’ve only drawn him in the MTMTE universe but I want to design a TFP and TFA version as well! Anyway, he’s a wuss. A big scaredy-cat. He remained a neutral during the war because he was too afraid to use a gun and spent most of the war hiding from both Decepticons and Autobots. Instead of being a fighter, he’s an artist who enjoys being lost in his own world and letting his servo flow freely across the canvas. As for why he’s on the Lost Light, he hoped that this journey across galaxies would broaden his horizon and inspire his next series of works. Although, now he’s having second thoughts…
Now onto my TFP OCs (who all happen to be Decepticons ahaha)!

Burn Rubber is a scout. He’s from Velocitron and his alt-mode is a F1 racing car. Out of all the OCs, he’s the most competent and loyal but he still fears Megatron’s wraith. Because of his birth defect that made him have no arms, he relies more on kicks and piercing bots with his pede. After the war, he and Bulkhead form a friendship and grow closer.

This is an unnamed OC. I mainly wanted to create a Transformer OC who 1. Is a cannibal and 2. Is a manipulative POS and genuinely unlikable. His facial anatomy is similar to that of a python in the sense that he can unhinge his jaw in order to ingest large pieces of fuel. His alt-mode is a motorcycle.

Vise is my first TF OC I made (that wasn’t a child of existing characters) back in 2021. I wanted to include a character who was disabled (Burn Rubber was the same way) and I decided on a mech with no optics. Since it’s a birth defect, he’s gotten used to navigating the world and remember others using his other sense. His one flaw is that he seeks validation way too much. It’s one of the reasons why he stayed with the Decepticons for so long despite how harsh they were to him. He always sought out Megatron’s approval like in the beginning of the revolution but as the war dragged on and Megatron started to lose his grip on sanity, the praise became less and less. Eventually, he leaves the Decepticons because his Minicon was afraid of him getting hurt if he stayed. After the war, he becomes conjunxed to Arcee.
Missile is Vise’s Minicon. He was assigned to Vise to help him due to his blindness. Initially, Missile was annoyed with having to potentially babysit instead of help fight in the war, but he gradually started to see Vise as a brother and now they’re inseparable. He’s the more cautious and pragmatic of the two. Even though he and Vise defect, he’s still wary of the Autobots.

Pop-Tart was a joke character. It was based on a quote retweet I made on Twitter where the original post said “your Decepticon name is the last thing you ate + your first car.” Even though I don’t drive, I decided to make a Transformers character named “Pop-Tart” and see what happens. A handful of people liked him so he became an official OC. Anyway, he’s goofy and dumb. The only reason why he’s a Decepticon is because they recruited him first. Now they regret it because he’s the least competent bot you’ll ever meet. All Megatron sees in him is his strength and ability to follow orders. Also he has the hots for a human woman.
And that’s it! I’m like 95% sure I’ve never shared anything OC related before despite the handful of stuff I’ve shared about them on Twitter and Insta, so who knows. If I feel like if, I’ll post them here.

play 20 questions with me!
except it's one sided and all about ✨me✨
1. hii! what do i call u?
call me mish (as my dear companion @foursixtwonineoh-pizzas-of-lego (evie 😘)) does or mishti.
2. how did u chance upon here and what do u do here everyday?
i came here for #drarry and #tomarry and #merthur fics and arts (they're so out of this world, man) stayed here for the people and my lovely moots and shitposts. left one time to focus on my studies and now i'm back. permanently. hopefully. everyday, i come here for shits and giggles and to interact with the lovely (bi/gay, i don't think none of my friends over here is straight) friends. lol
3. you mentioned #drarry. what fandoms are u in/interested in/know?
1. harry potter (have to admit that I've only seen the movies twice and read only POA and majorly fanfictions. u have no idea omg)
2. heartstopper (i've read the webtoon AND s1 in netflix s1, haven't got the time for the later seasons tbh)
3. sherlock holmes and adj (books and robert downey movies and bbc sherlock)
4. DC (some comics and some warner bros movies am not in deep as some of my dear friends 😭)
5. marvel (..through fanfictions and song edits ONLY)
6. bbc merlin (couldn't finish the whole show, but i do know the ending 😭)
7. mahabharat starplus (haven't seen the whole show but know and love enough)
8. anne with an e
4. fanfictions, you read. do you write in general?
yes! i do! they're all under this tag -> #mishti writes. hoping to write and update on here more, honestly. i write about a lot of stuff mostly independent but not on the level of writing fanfictions yet. i feel pity for myself tbh
5. what're your other creative outlets?
i sing, i can do digital calligraphy and art (not really good at the latter) and painting/colouring! i hope to start this journey too here actually.
6. do you read and write and all only in english? what're some other languages u know?
i enjoy reading and writing creative stuff in english only right now. i can write in hindi too if i tried really hard. i also know malayalam, tamil, kannada, sanskrit, french (duolingo lmao), html, markdown and python.
7. u know python? which level?
i learnt it for school for 2 years (years 11 & 12). i have created a wordle clone that works on NYTimes' wordle logic except pastel colouring and it works offline. planning to make it bigger, actually.
8. computer nerd huh? anyway how do i become friends with u if i want to?
wouldn't call myself a nerd lol. there's nothing much to do if u want to become friend tbh. the ask box is above this post and start a conversation with me, we'll take it from there ♥️
9. do u have any checklist for being ur friend that I should fulfill?
yes, actually. u must be:
[ ] happy talking to me
[ ] ready to tell when i'm doing something wrong
[ ] ready not to force me to do anything
[ ] ready for my countless apologies at any given time (yes i'm serious)
that's all, i think. i don't mind anyone here as long u check these out!
10. what's ur stance on the LGBTQIA+ community?
since almost all my friends here are either bi or gay or on the spectrum here, i really don't mind them. i support the community as long as i don't get hurt. i think i'm aroace myself but i really dunno, i must admit.
11. u keep reiterating 'friends'. may i ask who ur friends are on here? or would that be personal?
i don't mind u asking about my friends. in fact, i've made a friend list, here.
12. time for misc questions!! what's ur favourite thing to do in the rain?
it's been raining for a good few days at the time of writing this post, and my favourite thing to do is lie on my bed on scroll thru..Tumblr. embarassing i know. but that's what i have discovered as of now. but i know that'll change in like 3 days max 😭 i think it'll be sitting at my desk, the one in front of the window, listening to the rain and either sketching or ✨writing✨
13. what about drinks? hot drinks or cold drinks in autumn?
cold drinks throughout the year. even in winters yes. i have cold water everyday 😂
14. would you prefer looking after a toddler or a teenager for a week?
after having a sister, i would pick the baby. they can't talk back or be rude to me or anyone really. and no feelings will be hurt, so no fights 😍
15. cat or a dog person?
neither, i'm so sorry. i am allergic to both, i believe.
16. u mentioned u were a computer nerd before. what're some craziest things u've done related to it?
ok. so i have done quite a few things (you may choose to believe it or not, i don't mind either way!) which i used to think and still think is not that impressive:
jailbroke an iPhone 3g at the age of 12; exorcised macos x lion from a polycarbonate 2009 macbook and proceeded to install 15-20 linux distros at the ages of 14-15 (no arch linux, i just read the documentation and gave up); illegally (maybe) installed and ran windows 11 on a device that shouldn't have ran it from one sketchy youtube tutorial at 15; built wordle (mentioned above) from scratch with python and tkinter in 2 days (that's it lol)
17. how does ur music taste look like?
mainly electropop with epic instrumentals and the occasional sanskrit verse. i suppose.
18. what're ur likes and dislikes?
likes: computer, tech, math, chemistry, some parts of physics, cold stuff, digital stuff, art, fanfics, writing, pastel colours, rain, gold jewellery, fancy af hairstyles, cooking, pens (pentel 🩵), pencils, any sorta stationery, my sister and my family
dislikes: anon asks for help (not in a position, i'm sorry!), hot (as in temperature) stuff, wearing glasses (have been a glass wearer for the 11th year now), chores (to an extent 😂), and romance (i just don't understand it..doesn't matter if it's wlw or mlm or straight or whatever)
19. what're some numbers u love? do u believe in lucky numbers?
i love the number 7 for some reason. also 19th cuz 19th may is my birthday. and 2 and 5, idk why.
20. ask me in the reblogs if u've reached till here! u're obligated to, at this point lol.

I got accepted into a University!

🎊 Exciting news: I've been accepted to one of the two universities I applied to! I really doubted that I could even get into THE university of my city since they are harder to get into with higher grades for the entry requirements, but I think I only got in because of my apprenticeship experience. For example, if I had went straight to applying at the university at age 18, I wouldn’t have gotten in. I even thought when I was younger “oh I couldn’t ever apply because that’s for the smart smart people” BUT I GOT IN and I’m not even maths smart!
So, thank you God that I studied coding when I was studying Biology, Chemistry, Maths during my last two years of school. Although I had to drop out due to health reasons, thank you God for the opportunity to learn how to build websites and explore Python while working as a call centre agent. Thank you God for the confidence to apply for an apprenticeship, even though I didn't complete my schooling! Thank you God for helping me complete the apprenticeship with a pass mark and then continue working there as their Junior Web Developer. And thank you God for helping me randomly apply to these universities and I got a place!
My journey has been filled with challenges and opportunities, and for that, I am grateful!

Ugh my spotted python bit me today. Hes my first snake and I feel bad he’s getting all my newbie mistakes but he’s done really well with handling and this is the first time I just don’t know what happened? I know they don’t bite out of the blue but I had taken him outside and he was very relaxed in my arms with his head on my shoulder, I stepped off the porch so he could feel some sun and made sure to keep his head in the shade and after a few seconds he moves around to the front of me and just slams my lip. Obviously it’s not bad I’m just so frustrated and feel like every step forward has like three back. And maybe he just doesn’t want to be handled that would be ok but he seems so good and happy to explore most of the time. I have looked into choice based handling but he never wants to wake up and come out of his hides during the day but he always is relaxed once he is out.
Aw, I'm so sorry you got tagged. That sounds like it was really jarring. Please don't be discouraged, though. Snake keeping is a journey, not a destination, and though it may feel like you're not making good progress, every experience is an opportunity to learn and grow with your pet.
Spotted pythons are nocturnal, so he may have been startled by the sudden sunshine and warmth and either mistook you for a predator or a snack. Bites are disheartening (and a bite in the face doubly so!) but it's part of snake ownership. We will all take a chomp at some point.
I once had my leucistic Texas rat snake on my lap while I was reading and I guess he fell asleep at some point, and when I moved my arm I must have startled him awake because he freaked out and tagged me out of nowhere. I was shocked and a bit hurt in the moment, and I totally get how you're feeling. It's nobody's fault. These are animals and sometimes they react to stimuli we think are pretty benign in ways we didn't expect!
If you're going to implement choice-based handing, it'll likely only happen after the sun has gone down. It might be good to try to interact on his terms for a while, as late in the day as you can and in low-light situations. He's less likely to be a butt if he's up and active during the part of his natural rhythm when he's most alert.
I mean, imagine having somebody pull you out of bed at 3am and shine a flashlight with the power of the sun at you. Even if it wasn't right in your eyes, you might be a touch irritable!
I hope that the two of you can find some common ground and that you are able to build more confidence as a keeper. Forgive yourself when you make mistakes, as you so quickly forgave him when he bit you. I know spotted pythons are considered a decent beginner species but I've definitely found them more challenging than some of the other options.
At the end of the day you're just two completely different animals trying to understand each other, and that's pretty cool.

Apollo & His Kids
A Heart Heavy With Memories by @summerbummin
After reclaiming his godhood, Apollo visits his children often, and on one of those visits he tells them about their mortal parents. He shows them memories of their time together. And ends up reminiscing a little more than he bargained for.

Around the Cabin Seven table, Apollo tells each of his six children how he met their parents.
Through The Son's Eyes by @literallyjusttoa
A journey through Asclepius' relationship with his dad, from Ancient Greece to modern day.
demand nothing less (than transformation) by tissuebocks
Dad is quiet for a moment, stroking her hair. Then, with a surge of his usual flamboyant excitement: “At what time is your date?” Kayla blinks. She pulls back a little to look at Dad. He’s still a little blurry from the tears, but she feels much calmer now. “He’s picking me up at six. …Why?” Dad’s eyes—cobalt blue—sparkle. Literally. “We’re going to dress you to the nines.” (or: apollo loves his daughter. he also loves fashion. even better is when the two intersect.)

Apollo & Meg
Movie Night by @falconfrost
Meg and Apollo attend a midnight horror movie showing. Everyone likes clowns, right?
yesteryear by @m-arnie-xx
yesteryear (noun) — last year or the recent past, especially as nostalgically recalled; often a period in the past with a set of values or a way of life that no longer exists. Or, There is eighteen hours, thirty-five minutes, and nine seconds, between when Meg last sees Apollo, and when Artemis sends a sign to Camp Half-Blood to tell them that he has survived and defeated Python.

Meg & Apollo's Highly Limited Roadtrip Playlist by Curioser
Fourteen hundred miles. Four radio stations. Two friends trying hard not to kill each other, or to acknowledge the fact that in less than a week, they may never see each other again. And Lizzo. So much Lizzo.
visions of beasts by UKULELEchildren
Suddenly, a figure appeared in the dark haze. A vague smudge of purple appeared. His cloak. “No.” I whispered. “You’re dead.” What would Meg have visions about?
Apollo & Olympus
Beneath the Rhododendrons by Lepidopterrain
Carefully, she slipped past the hyacinths that had popped up around the bush like a small protective wall. They'd been the only reason she'd looked down at that spot really, and noticed the flash of gold curls amongst the pinks, reds, and purples of the rhododendrons. Artemis let her fingers linger on the petals of one of the small little guardian flowers, just for a moment. She'd never been sure if her brother had noticed just how little control he actually had over hyacinths, for a flower that was supposedly 'his.' She suspected Demeter and Persephone knew, if anyone. But neither goddess had deigned to talk of such matters with Artemis. Perhaps for the best, Artemis wasn't really sure what she would've said if they had tried to bring the subject up. There's a very good chance she wouldn't tried to shoot one of them and then escape while they were distracted. Emotions weren't her forte. She was grown enough to admit it.
@tsarinatorment
The Older Twin
Apollo could lie all he wanted, Artemis was the older one. She’d never felt that as keenly as she did now. Day 26: Missing You
Third Strike
Zeus loved Apollo, once. His favourite son, his golden child. His greatest threat. Day 19: And So The Sun Sets
Ancient Greece
A Sun's Forgiveness by @hazardous-lightdas12
“Mortals die Artemis,” Apollo whispers. “Their lives will forever wax and wane. Like the moon. The ebb and flow of Uncle Poseidon’s waves. But us. We are eternal. You must remember that.” Her brother sounds like he has said the words to himself too many times. – Apollo does not scream when the lightning bolt strikes him. -- Alt Summary: Fathers make mistakes sometimes. Hippolytus’ father has made the teensy, easily understandable and forgivable mistake of beheading his son due to unproven and untrue allegations. Artemis grieves. Apollo tries to make everything all better, and somehow ends up making everything worse. . Zeus is so good at daddying! Admetus worries about the logistics of cow-herding
Of ravens and songbirds by Cassiethewriter
The godling whimpered and fought, and Python refused to let the hiss of frustration fall out. “Quite understandable, too.” He said, coils growing tighter and making the godling cough again. “Poor fair Leto being hunted by the issued Hera, the Queen of Olympus and the only child raised by Rhea. You heard of Leto’s suffering from day one, and sought to bring justice to it. Very brave and god-like.” Python snorted again. “But I’m afraid this is where you myths start— and end. Right here, right now. Like a moth to the sun.” Or, The battle with Python.

Party On Olympus (gone wrong)
Mother’s hand was holding onto him firmly. Probably to stop Hermes from running down the hall and around the finely carved pillars decorating the sides of the palace. Despite the fact that if he were a mortal he would not even be walking yet, he already got himself into trouble recently.
Puppies (and why they can fix anything)
"Aww look at the puppy!” He raced forward, voice an octave higher than usual. As is normal when speaking to such an adorable creature.
Apollo & His Lovers
Naomi Solace
thinking about it, had a breakthrough by @thesungod
“I’m Naomi Solace!” “Okay?” “The singer?” Fred shakes his head, a smug smile on his lips. “Never heard of you.” “As Long As The Sun Shines? It was number 1 on the billboard for like, a month!” Hating herself, she starts mouthing the melody. There’s no way this asshole doesn’t know her stupid song. Naomi Solace meets an arrogant, young producer that she really wants to kick in the balls. Unfortunately, he seems to know what he’s doing.
Solar Powered by @curseofdelos (:D Glad to see you reblogged this hehe here's a tag :3)
Apollo, god of music, was how he had introduced himself. Naomi had assumed he was joking, and he didn't correct her. She had dated musicians and poets before. They all had an ego, and those same words would not have felt out of place from either of her exes. She merely downgraded Apollo from potential boyfriend to potential fling, and didn't think twice about it. Now though…. Now her son could heal wounds with a single touch, and her world was tipping on its axis.

Plaything of the Gods - Daphne's Story by @the-primordial-archivist
When Apollo finally decided to wear a crown, it was her leaves that topped his head. But it wasn’t just he who wore her branches. Winners had her leaves on them too. Laurels. The symbol of victory.

time eats all his children by IzzyMRDB
There is something sickly in the passage of time. Time is a rot. A disease or a plague, a festering in your very being that blurs the past until it is tainted with the present. Until the present is tainted with the future. The Greeks were well aware of this sickness, for all their depictions of time, while divine, were also rotted. AKA Apollo is the god least touched by the passage of time, yet the one most affected by it. There's so much of the present that he could change. AKA Time Travel with Post-TOA Apollo
Flowers For Apollo by @soleil-in-retrograde
As far as Lester Papadopoulos was concerned, he was seventeen years old and lived at home with his elderly mother just outside of Tampa. He had a(n older? younger? twin?) sister who visited regularly and a baby sister(?) in California who called him her dummy and would help out with his mother's garden when she visited and he was teaching piano to. He also had a myriad of cousins who went to a camp up north he wrote constantly. He didn't know what he wanted to do with the life stretching in front of him. ----- The God Apollo has a bad habit of not telling people when something is wrong. It doesn't help he doesn't quite remember until it's too late. It's not his fault.
Over The Palisade by @aeithalian
This was an old dream. He’d had it many times before. Jerry, standing before the Roman Senate. Mars, waving his hand. A lyre, appearing on Jerry’s arm. Jerry’s prophecy: “Crowns will fall to ash.” Jupiter, standing between the new augur and a towering statue of himself. Apollo, standing between his father and his son. Olympus, Apollo on his knees, trembling, electricity jumping over his arms. A stranger’s face, dark and stony. He says something, but the words are quiet. The doors of the Palace of the Sun. Chained shut. Or: Apollo has been missing for two and a half years, and there may or may not be an impending apocalypse.

At 10,000 years of age, Apollo falls to Chaos. With the last of his strength, he sends his memories through the fabric of Space-Time. In which Apollo lives through his early life, forming alliances and rewriting mythological history while striving to keep his siblings and family safe from threats outside and within their home. Will he succeed? Or will Fate prevail once more? One thing is for sure, Apollo remembers. And he will take his vengeance.

THE MUST-READ Eclipse!!!!!!
According to the prophecy, Will has to go to on a quest to Tartarus. According to Apollo, that isn’t going to happen, even if it means he has to break the Ancient Laws.
The Stolen God is a ToA/MCatGoA crossover!
Python is defeated. The prophecies are restored, and Nero has fallen. Apollo has not been seen since. His trials are over; why isn’t he back on Olympus?

Memories of Godly Selfishness
Chapter 1: Apollo and Meg watch Apollo's interactions with the demigods (and Grover) in Blood of Olympus and the Singer of Apollo. They don't like what they see. Chapter 2: Apollo, Meg, and Percy watch the fight with Otis and Ephialtes in Mark of Athena. Apollo gains new perspective on gods’ relationships with demigods. Chapter 3: Apollo, Meg, and Annabeth watch the final battle against Kronos and the aftermath, with a surprise guest later on. Chapter 4: Apollo and Meg watch “Welcome to Camp Half-Blood”. Apollo gives a long over-due apology. Chapter 5: Side Story - Satyr School: Apollo teaches some young satyrs. Chapter 6: Apollo, Meg, Thalia, and Will watch Thalia's and Luke's encounter with a certain son of Apollo.
A Convergence of Apollos
Percy had been hoping for a quiet afternoon celebrating Grover's birthday with him. Then Apollo arrived, and their peaceful afternoon got a lot less peaceful. It got even weirder when two kids popped out of thin air who both seemed to know him.
@falconfrost
Apollo & The Aftermath
The Roman emperors and Python have been defeated, the oracles reclaimed, and Apollo restored to godhood. He's having somewhat of a hard time adjusting to being back among the gods, which is understandable after his six-month grow-a-conscience speedrun. But something else is rotten in the state of Olympus, and before it can really feel like home, it's going to require some serious renovation.
The Tail of A Pollo
The hunt for the Teumessian Fox hasn't been going great, but thanks to a new prophecy (of sorts), it looks like Apollo may be key to aiding the Hunters of Artemis in the beast's defeat. In like, a super badass, heroic way, of course. Actually, on second thought, maybe just imagine the monster's defeat in your head. You definitely don't have to read this. I'm certain you get the gist of it already. You can simply exit this tab real quick, no biggie. Have a lovely day!
Bad Sons by @thesungod
Hades turned to the demigods that were still kneeling. “I need to speak with Will Solace,” he said to the shocked room, in the tone he could have used to say “I came to ask if one of you could lend me a pen.” “Alone,” the god added after a moment, staring right at Nico. Or, Will and Nico go on the stupidest quest ever. And it’s all Apollo’s fault.
Curioser
Fall of The Sun
Five times Apollo fainted and one time he didn't.
The Trials of Apollo: The Forgotten Acres
When their truck breaks down on the way to New York, Apollo and Meg get a few days of downtime in a refuge called the Forgotten Acres. While there, Apollo confronts a decision he's been putting off for weeks, and finds that it's one of the hardest choices he's ever had to make.
RavenWingDark
Kill The Sun
Even restored to godhood, Apollo still wants to be around his friends and mortal family, even at the risk of Zeus'...dissatisfaction. This is the four times Apollo got away with helping his demigods and the one time he didn't.
Mourning Sun changed my brain chemicals
Percy has the Chalice and all he has left to do is hand it over to Ganymede. Then he notices Ganymede might not be the only one being mistreated by Zeus. Apollo's at brunch, too.
Series
the grace of gods is a grace that comes by violence by @californiannostalgia
Were I That Burning Star, the first fic in the series, is an absolute Must Read imo
An old panic gripped me—the breathless fear of being forgotten, being lost. Would anyone remember me when I was gone? Would someone think to lay a flower down on my grave and say some fond nothings like, “Was a pretty cool guy, that Lester,” while wiping off a single dramatic tear rolling down their cheek? Oh, who was I kidding. So what if no one remembered? There wasn’t much I was proud to be remembered by anyway. After defeating Python and bringing down Nero, Phoebus Apollo reclaims his godhood. He is glorious once more. But for some reason, he can't quite make himself go back to how things were before. (A Character Study of Various Gods, including but not limited to: Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Aphrodite, Ares, Athena, Hephaestus, Dionysus, and maybe Zeus)
Gods' Eye View by @flightfoot
Carefully, I picked out Apollo’s string. It glowed vibrantly, as the strings of all divine beings do. Mine most brilliantly of all, of course, though Apollo’s always seemed to be trying to outshine it. I firmly grasped hold of it, matching its own glow with my own. Slowly, I exerted my will, my power, pressing my radiance against the manifestation of Apollo’s, slowly increasing my light until it overpowered his. Yet, it resisted me, its glow strengthening, refusing to surrender. I grit my teeth. “I am Zeus, King of the Gods, and your father. Submit to me.” ----- Zeus tries to turn Apollo into a mortal. It does not go as well as he expected. That only incenses him further.

(TW FOR EYES AND LIGHT GORE)
The Prophetess
“Φοιτά μες στα μάτια σου.„
The gift of foresight is a rare phenomena amongst the magics recorded in the world's encyclopedia.
There weren't many individuals who possessed such gifts, and thus prophets are a highly valued asset to mankind. They are sought after, for humanity as a species are driven by pride and curiosity. They wish to know their fate, they wish to change their fate, as ambitious as that sounded.
The line between naivety and hopefulness is almost invisible.
No one can change the destiny that the Fates have set for them. She watched with an apathetic gaze as one by one, men fell victim to their own hubris. Heroes, nobles, travellers alike.
✴️✴️✴️
They called her ‘the Prophetess’.
She has no name. She doesn't remember, nor does she have no need for it, not after having walked this cursed land for who knows how long.
Once a humble priestess for a long forgotten god, she was granted the gift of foresight, with an eager promise to serve humanity until the last moment of her lowly mortal life.
.
..
... Well, such naive promises never last long.
Her gift came with a cost. Her head ached with events that had yet to happen, it was too much for a mere mortal to bear. And with a piercing scream, she clawed at her eyes, drawing blood until she was left with only a pair of empty eye sockets. The curse of knowledge took away her eyes as its price.
Still, she pushed through the sudden loss of sight, and began her journey of a new prophetess. The initial innocence slowly lost its light the more she gave out prophecies to those who sought for her. Her hope for humanity dimmed, having been disappointed over and over again.
Immortality is as much of a curse as foresight is. There was no place she hadn't been to, no things she hadn't seen. Such was a long, listless life of the Prophetess.
That was, until the Unfamiliar stumbled upon her temple...
AWAWAWAWA I DID ITTTTTT :DD GODS THAT TOOK ME A FEW DAYS OF HYPERFIXATING BUT YAYYYYY
the prophetess is irene in a witch au me and my friends have been yapping about! hence why she looks different and with a much different lore!
i'll share a tidbit of her backstory if yguys want to know hehe :)
(artwork without the front shade and some lore under the cut)
• appearance: 6'0 tall; she has long white hair, empty eye sockets covered by an eye mask, and very pale skin. in other words, albino, or mystic flour cookie but legally blind /j
• types of magic she excels in: foresight, healing
• her familiar is an albino python called nico :)
• the prophetess was once a mortal priestess, but it's been a long long time since then as she had ascended to godhood (lore)
• she grew apathetic to humanity after a while, giving them prophecies and leaving them to their fates. she does not care if they die or not, their fates are already sealed the moment they sought for her
• so far, only miyabi (the unfamiliar aka my friend's oc) managed to ignite the motherly instinct she thought were long gone. they've been with her the longest, took under her wing and nurtured to adulthood
• people see the prophetess as this imposing, menacing figure who comes to seal their fate. and uh... she kinda is-

I’ve read a lot of fanfics in my time, but it’s been a while since I’ve done a full read through of Uncle Rick’s series, and the only book I don’t have is The Sun and Star (I think) so if I leave anything out let me know.
One of the most interesting things I noticed in Uncle Rick’s stories is the power levels of different demigods. Most demigods in old myths never stepped foot in the Underworld, much less hoped to survive it, beyond a few who had pretty massive amounts of godly help (Hermes with Orpheus, Herakles with Hera, etc.) to get through the journey.
And yet multiple people not only survived the journey, but also did it multiple times, including but not limited to:
Percy (twice, once with pearls and once with Nico)
Grover (with pearls)
Annabeth (with pearls)
Nico (an undisclosed amount of time including with a ghostly half-sister in tow)
Hazel (with help as one of the undead)
Sally (as a kidnapping victim)
A good list of demigods who likely died and came back all on their own while Thanatos was chained
Thalia (while with Nico and Percy)
And while, yes, all of these examples are either because of massive problems on the godly side, or because they are/were accompanied by a Big Three kid (which is BS that Hestia, Hera, and Demeter aren’t included in “they have super crazy powerful kids” despite only Demeter having kids), it doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s happening more often.
“But Nick, like you said, those are major influences that’s helping these guys get out of the Underworld. It’s just relevant to the plot!”
Fair enough, but now here’s the next point: Tartarus.
Basically, Rick’s Greek world essentially functions as such:

While I don’t think Eris is confirmed to exist in Tartarus (again I haven’t read The Sun and Star), Nyx is, and since Nyx is darkness and Eris is light, it makes sense they exist on the same plane (either beneath Tartarus or coexisting with it) despite both being a concept for all planes except arguably Chaos, which is why I put it on the same level as well.
There are various creation myths, but the overarching plot is: There is Something, that Something creates Others, and this Others become known as Primordials, which make their own Others, such as Titans, Giants, Gods, etc. The creations make essentially layers on Earth, similar to the actual layers of the Earth.
Think of it like this:

And when new beings are made that take over for the last generation (like Helios and Apollo), then those layers get kinda funky.
So, back to Tartarus. Obviously you have 3 separate “Underworlds”, one for deities (like with Python in Trials of Apollo), one for monsters, and one for mortals. Each of these places is built to recycle beings, similar to the idea of Conservation of Energy and Conservation of Matter. Not only that, but upper level beings can’t (or at least shouldn’t) go below their respective underworld, but lower level beings can’t go up, which is why monsters can go up to the Underworld and Gaea but a human can’t go down into the Underworld or Tartarus without dying.
So this is why demigods surviving Tartarus is crazy work. Sure, there are demigods that can become monsters or gods and survive the trip, but just your average demigod? They’re dead on sight. Between the poison air, the aggressive terrain, no food, no water, monsters being reborn in every direction, etc., survival is slim to none.
Except now we have instances of people surviving the fall and the climb back up, with a questionable amount of sanity intact. Will, Nico (twice), Annabeth, and Percy (you can include Apollo if you like) all survived the fall and came back still kicking, and noticeably not monsters.
So what’s my point?
There’s a common repetition of myth for the Greeks, and that’s the death of the father by their son. Ouranos was killed by Kronos and his siblings. Kronos was killed by Zeus and his siblings. The point is that Rick’s version of the Greeks is approaching the death of Zeus, and the crowning of a new King (if we’re following by patriarchal standards). It’s definitely not going to happen anytime soon, but Big Three kids like Percy and Nico and just your average demigod like the Seven is proof of this. And do you want to know WHY demigods are only going to get more powerful from here?
Because the gods are slowly and indirectly creating their own demise, as had their predecessors. But unlike their predecessors, their downfall will come from not looking in the right direction, instead of thinking they have complete control. Zeus isn’t stupid, and he knows his shit. He’s well aware that he only survived being swallowed because Rhea gave Kronos a rock, because he wasn’t paying attention. Kronos was prideful and believed that he was loved enough that no one would dare defy him, because he wasn’t paying attention the one who saved them. Zeus knows that being ignorant of who is and isn’t against him would be his downfall, so he locks the fuck in. Kronos, while well known for his ability to control time, ruled over the Harvest as well, making him a more Gaea-bound deity. So Zeus chooses the sky. Instead of simply believing in people, he overlooks them, watching them, judging them. He is the God of Justice, after all, so the job title includes the role of “Judge, Jury, and Executioner”.
“But isn’t Olympus a democracy, Nick? Athens was a democracy too, so Zeus wouldn’t be the one in sole power!”
Nope! Well, yes, it is a democracy, but just not a democracy in the way it’s supposed to be. In Athens, they were technically a democracy, but only for those who were rich, powerful, and close to the inner circle of politicians. The building that housed the voting in Athens let people in on a first-come-first-serve basis, so only people who had the time to include themselves and the money to live so close to the place where votes are casted had the power, and on top of that, their politics were wild. One person got a vote, obviously, but it’s like goddamn Survival over there. They made groups and all discussed what went down and who to fucking vote off the island. I’m not joking, they actually did that.
So Zeus consolidated power into a small group of 12, playing it as a “democracy” when in reality those who do not follow him are punished or replaced. Hestia was kicked out for Dionysus, for example, and Apollo was made human, for another. So yeah, it’s a “democracy” in the same way someone gets cohersed into giving consent: it’s not actually real, just driven by fear.
On top of that, they literally have Hephestus TV! They watch their subjects for fun. You cannot tell me Zeus didn’t set up that particularly entertaining baby cam for no reason. He ate Leto! He’s not above being the magical version of the Chaos Council from Sonic Prime.
So in order to create a being capable of overthrowing Zeus, you have to do it slowly, subtly, and have his gaze averted. He has to be focusing on something else. That’s how Luke managed to nearly overthrow him, because he was so focused on 12-year-old Percy Jackson, Son of Poseidon, then someone so minuscule as Luke Castellan, Son of Hermes. He likes to think he’s got it all figured out, thinking that the one who chooses whether Olympus is going to survive or fall must be one of the Big Three’s children. He ignores bigger details and problems in favor of focusing on one small thing. Percy’s birthday was a prophecized stopwatch, and really nothing more.
How would the gods be able to manufacture such a danger to Zeus’s reign when he supervises everything? They don’t manufacture anything at all, at least not on purpose.
“Nick, what the fuck? You’re making no sense.”
HEAR ME OUT.
Our first example of this is our lovely Frank Zhang. Both a demigod and a Legacy, he has power like we haven’t seen unless provided by a shape-shifting god (such as Loki with Alex). Despite being a Son of Mars, who, alongside Ares, have children who’s main god-given skill is “fights good”, he has the ability to shapeshifting and keep up with powerhouses like Percy, Hazel, and Jason. Sure, you could argue that Clarisse can keep up with Percy well enough, but not to the extent of Frank. He has the blood of multiple gods stacked onto one another, helping him have the power to survive the quest to stop Gaea.
Another is Leo Valdez. Poor boy got the attention of a literal Primordal being at a young age, and also managed to kill said Primordal being with his own fire powers, and lived to tell the tale. In the past, that required an elaborate plot to lure the Primordal away from their domain and slice them to pieces, but Leo just did it with a dragon and two other demigods, and incinerated Gaea. Please tell me you understand how absolutely insane that is!
Piper McClean managed to break down Charmspeak into its basic concepts, and understood how it worked well enough to gaslight a Primordal, and before that she had the strongest charmspeak in the room alongside her siblings.
Jason Grace took down a Giant more or less on his own with little to no help from a god, and can take control of wind spirits that don’t even belong to his father’s domain. He’s Hera’s (or Juno, I guess) champion, and she could have chosen Thalia, but she didn’t. She chose Jason. Jason is a full-sibling to Thalia, only divided by pantheons. Having full-siblings is almost entirely unheard of, with only a handful of mortals able to seduce powerful gods not once, but twice, like with Bianca and Nico. That takes INSANE work.
Hazel has the power not only detect precious metals, but also curse them, and channel that power into raising a whole Giant, something that can only happen in Tartarus. She escaped the Underworld after having already died and lost her memories.
Percy is, I’m just going to say it, absolutely insane. He beat The God of WAR in a fight. At 12. He set off a volcano summoning water out of seashells and a stupid idea. He held up the Sky, something that was purposely held up by 4 pillars and later the Titan of Strength for a reason. He survived Tartarus and Polybotes and stole the domain of another goddess. It’s one thing to utilize the abilities bestowed on you by your parent and make them your own, but he stole another bitch’s domain! And used it against her! And probably would have killed her too if Annabeth hadn’t snapped him out of it! You CAN’T tell me that this man isn’t the beginning of the end for the gods.
And my MOST POWERFUL POINT HERE: goddamn Annabeth Chase. Yeah, you know all that batshit insane stuff Percy did? Annabeth was right there next to him. Holding the sky, Tartarus, the Athena Parthenos (which is known to be killing off Athena kids since forever) etc. What’s even more insane is that Athena doesn’t give her kids powers. Athena kids’ abilities are “smart”, and wtf does that mean??? It makes everything Annabeth does all the more impressive and terrifying. The rest of the Seven are powerhouses so strong they can take on Giants, and then you have Annabeth with her knife and spite, and she not only keeps up, but she’s a role model. The other demigods look to her for guidance!
But it gets crazier. You know how I said the gods are creating their own demise hidden in plain sight? Yeah, Annabeth is that “plain sight”. Percy, for all his power and abilities, is the distraction. People like Annabeth are who Zeus really has to look out for. Remember how I said that full-blooded siblings are rare and crazy to even fathom? The Chase Family makes it worse.
How the flying fuck did they manage to bag not one, not two, but three different deities attentions?! What are those Chases on to get so much godly attention?! Not to mention it’s cross pantheon! Frey, Loki, and Athena, we’re drawn in by something, and it’s not your normal godly infatuation.
In a small blurb of a story, Percy and Annabeth meet the Kanes, and while I haven’t read Kane Chronicles (I have the series just haven’t gotten to it yet), they say that cross-pantheon magic is quite literally the strongest way to K.O. your enemies. So the four of them swap items, with Percy getting possessed by a vulture goddess. Why am I bring this up? Because these very points are why the Chases are terrifying.
They’re an active site of cross-pantheon activity, which is why Magnus and Annabeth are so powerful all on their own. Magnus has been watched over for years because of his role in Ragnarok, and was specifically requested by Odin himself to be taken to Valhalla despite being a nature demigod. And not only does Magnus survive there as a nature demigod in an entire afterlife full of war demigods, he thrives. He’s never held a sword in his life, and his main powers are healing and trying to convince plants to grow, and yet he manages to delay Ragnarok for a long, long time.
People like Annabeth, Magnus, and Frank are obvious points in this evolution of power, and they fly under Zeus’s radar almost entirely.
So that’s my Rant. Something that’s been bubbling in my head for a long time really, but I never had a place for it until now. It’s likely that we have such powerful demigods now compared to the old myths because of godly blood mixing in with humans after so long, and then that godly blood, especially when enhanced by other pantheons, starts to draw deities in more and more. So that’s how Zeus gets his ass kicked.

hello as a resident franklin expedition person do you have any recommendations for further reading about it/polar history in general?
yes!!!!! for dipping your toes into the franklin expedition specifically i would start with erebus: the story of a ship by michael palin (yes, the guy from monty python. this book contains more anecdotes than hard facts but is a fun introductory read and it’s honestly really funny). probably the most well-known book about the franklin expedition is frozen in time by dr. owen beattie + john geiger, some of the information i believe has been disputed in the years since publication (published in the 80’s) but the descriptions of the exhumations of the beechey bodies are gorgeous and visceral and it’s by far one of the most ethical and humane exhumations/studies on gravesites that i’ve ever read about. THEN you can graduate to real freak territory and read may we be spared to meet on earth, a collection of all of the letters that the members of the expedition sent before and during the first portion of the journey. others to hit that i haven’t read yet are james fitzjames: the mystery man of the franklin expedition (again, some information like that concerning jfj’s birth has since been disproven, but it’s by far the most comprehensive biography of him that exists. battersby reallyyyyyy loved the guy), unraveling the franklin expedition: inuit testimony (this one is on my shelf! deals, obviously, with the widely disregarded testimony of the indigenous people of the region), and the man who ate his own boots.
now for miscellaneous polar books i would start with endurance by alfred lansing, it’s a classic and was written at a time when members of the endurance crew were still alive, so lansing had exclusive access to multiple firsthand accounts. the only nonfiction that’s ever made me cry. my most recent polar read was madhouse at the end of the earth by julian sancton and i can’t recommend it enough. about the dysfunctional belgica expedition, but also a great introduction to roald amundsen’s whole… thing. super fun. i’m also about to start the worst journey in the world by apsley cherry-garrard, which deals with the scott expedition from the point of view of someone who was actually there. it’s mostly a memoir. for a fun one i have a polar fiction rec that is NOT the terror. where the dead wait by ally wilkes was a super fun read and it’s obvious that they watched the terror and went down the same pipeline that i did. evil gay situationship in the arctic circle supplemented by cannibalism and psychosis is always very fun, they have a second book about antarctica i believe, it’s on my shelf but i haven’t gotten to it yet. thanks so much for asking ily 🫶🫶🫶

hi! i'm shy as hell usually but trying to branch out cuz i saw u reblog that post abt asks. do u have any recs on where to start for a beginner coder (who has virtually no free time)? i feel like the landscape is so vast and overwhelming.
Hiii!! Thanks for the ask!
I think the best thing I've learned throughout my coding journey is that you must first pick a field that interests you. Computer Science is a VAST world, once you pick a field, you must really commit to it. For example, maybe data science interests you. You look up the requirements to be a date scientist. I don't have in-depth knowledge on it, but I do know that you need good knowledge about python and some of its modules like numpy, matplotlib etc. So you start learning the basics, and then move on to the modules. The key is to find what you love, then find what you need in order to pursue it.
For a kickstart I'd recommend w3schools — it's a really good site that has so many tutorials on various languages.
I was also a person that had no free time at all to focus on my learning. But then I realised that you must make time if you want to work on something with dedication. So now I devote Sunday afternoons to learning and working on my projects, and I try to stick to it as much as possible, except for when I have uni exams or any submissions lol
Hope this helped!!
