Winx & Specialists Dynamics that are so Precious to me
it makes sense that in the show, winx and their non-boyfriend specialists don’t interact much. but!! i’m very insane about codependent found families, and I want them all to love each other. so here’s my take on some tet-a-tet dynamics:
rare pairings:
Musa & Timmy: childhood frenemies. they used to go to the same middle school on Melody, and as type-A tweens do, had an intense, “you’re the only person I match myself to” kind of rivalry. they lost contact after Timmy moved away, chilled out considerably, reconnected in Alfea and had a wonderful banter-filled friendship since. because of how fast they slotted back into a friendship, some of their classmates genuinely thought they were siblings.
Tecna & Riven: got up from a rough patch. from “I dislike you but we both love Musa, so we have to be civil” to “you have more depths to you than I expected” to “now that I understand you, I can’t help but admire certain things about you” to “bitch, you are the only person who is as weird and clueless as I am, ARE YOU READY TO GO TO THE ARCADE AND ANNIHILATE KIDS FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES”
Flora & Brandon: little sister, older brother vibes. of similar temperaments and views, they enjoy spending time over a cup of tea — talking about everything and nothing. it’s therapeutic, almost.
(no one in the group knew that Brandon and Flo were good friends. once, when the two had to team up during a mission, Bloom couldn’t even finish saying: “it would be a good opportunity for you to get to know each ot-“, before the specialist-fairy duo were re-creating the most complicated and choreographed hand shake ever. jaws were on the floor.)
Aisha & Brandon: they are sporties, and they like doing sport things together! they don’t talk aside from exchanging brief encouragements and advice while out, preferring to spend their time in companionable silence. sorta like those dads who never talk to their buddies, but somehow have the strongest and longest bonds ever?
Helia & Bloom: artist besties. Bloom drags Helia out on picnics, where they practice observational drawing (and tiktok trends that Bloom desperately wants to reenact but none of the winx are good at arts); Helia responds by taking her out to see art museums in Magix. it’s a fun dynamic of Bloom being the bubbly gold retriever, and Helia being her black cat.
Tecna & Sky: they didn’t have much of a relationship until year 4. somehow, they both got really, intensely into weaponsmithing and built a joint workshop. they found that they enjoy working alongside each other and value each other’s insights. sky goes to tecna when he needs frank, un-sugarcoated advice, and tecna accompanies sky on hikes and other spirited adventures, for “bonding activities” (because he told her she doesn’t get out of her comfort zone enough). it’s a relationship of deep mutual respect.
Sky & Stella: childhood friends. they knew each other as children and enjoyed playing together (which is how Stella also knew Brandon pre-Red Fountaine). at least, until Stella was unofficially banned from Eraklyon because shenanigans, and they lost contact. they still jokingly call each other “My Lady” and “My Lord”.
Stella & Nabu. Both are flirty and extroverted people, who enjoy the spirit of showmanship. They have a friendly rivalry going of who can fluster the villain of the week the fastest.
canon bf-gf dynamics (dating in canon, open to interpretation otherwise):
Bloom x Sky: liked each other since the first meeting; bonded over being the friend group moms. (on unrelated note: bloom gentle parents her friends, while sky goes all exasperated cig mom on his team and repeats things like: “you better go to sleep right now, or so help me Dragon I will take away your Owl pilot privileges-“)
they are not the most outwardly affectionate couple of the winx, yet they are so wordlessly devoted to each other. sky will follow bloom to the ends of all dimensions, when she gets a calling from powers as mystical as she. bloom will always believe in him and see him as his own man, unlike the many who see him only as his father’s son. they were entwined by fate, long before one had met the other; yet, there’s the trust, the respect, the faith so strong — that could have only come from friendship forged and tested by fire.
Stella and Brandon: the hottest power couple; sole reason behind 60% of all student fairies/specialists/witches queer awakening.
they banter all. the. goddamn. time. these dorks are speaking a whole different language.
they are also most comfortable in each other’s company, being able to be their genuine, less polished selves. stella and brandon are both performers bred and born, playing the roles of a noble princess and a knight. it’s nice, to have a safe reprieve from all that acting.
Aisha and Nabu. their love was one that sneaked up on them. their distance, set by a discomfort at the idea of an arranged marriage, bridged as they transitioned from being reluctant comrades to friendly rivals to unwilling friends to best friends to “if someday the moon calls you by your name, don’t be surprised — because every night I tell her about you”
Tecna and Timmy: partners in crime, ride or die, sunny faith in each other — even when the other person doesn’t believe in themself. I have a whole post about them, go read that ;)
Flora and Helia: they are so. they are. they-
icons. the most romantic couple, the one that sets the standards, the one that gives their friends advice. they are extremely attentive to each other’s needs and tender with each other’s feelings.
flora can recite helia’s poems in her sleep, and trace his drawings with her eyes closed. helia brings mielle presents every time he stops by. flora has tea with helia’s dad every other tuesday; she keeps note of every time helia and saladin are supposed to meet up, to be able to whisk helia away after and distract him from his troubles. helia knows how to care of flora’s plants, and sends her lovingly assorted gift baskets semi-regularly.
Musa and Riven. their relationship is push and pull, is joy then sorrow.
it’s all in a drag of a cigarette, in the vortex of a starless night, in the hoarse laughter. “of all the people in the world, why did it have to be you?” she’ll say and smile.
“ I’m afraid we’re doomed, lover,” he’ll reply, faux-casually, and smile back. both of them will know it’s the truth.
their relationship was not built to last, not for the lack of love or try. maybe they were too similar — both headstrong, unbending, bleeding hearts. maybe they were just different enough not to understand their hurts. nevertheless, it was not built to last — but neither of them would ever bring to regret it. love prevails, no matter in what form in comes, or something like that.

In Your Mind
Pairing: Carlos x Reader
Summary: The next couple years with the love of your life
requests open masterlist first part
___________
The Spanish sun kisses your skin as you lay out by the pool at the home Carlos rented in Majorca, his favorite holiday spot. His family is a short drive away, also vacationing here. Carlos wanted to have you all to himself for the week.
You look incredible, mi amor
Care to join me, Carlitos, instead of ogling me?
Hm, I think I prefer watching you
Despite his statement, he lies on the lounge chair beside you. You watch his toned muscles flex. The past couple of days have allowed the both of you to grow incredibly close and know each other very well.
"Hypocrite," he laughs, noticing your focus on him.
"I was simply admiring, you looked like you wanted to devour me," you get up and walk to the pool, feeling warm in the sun. You dive in and when you surface, pushing your hair back, Carlos swears he hasn't seen anything more sexy.
"Cariño, you need to stop doing that, you are driving me mad," he says a little breathlessly. You swim to the edge of the pool.
"You better take care of that, before we have dinner with your parents," your smirk causes Carlos to look down and groan. He stands up and pulls you out of the pull, carrying you to the daybed by the pool. You've never been happier about the privacy the villa offered than at that moment.
After a quick shower, you and Carlos join his family at the villa the rest of his family is staying at. You get along well with everyone, thankfully for you. While Carlos talks with his parents, you talk with his sisters, Blanca and Ana, and his cousin, Carlos.
“He really likes you, when he called us, he told us all about you, then he mentioned that he met football legend David Beckham,” Ana tells you, the both of you giggling.
“That’s how he met me, he came over to speak to my dad. He also made me promise to invite some of my uncles to the wedding, whenever that is,” you share.
“That sounds like him, are you sure you want to stay with him?” Blanca asks teasingly.
“Perhaps not. I do suppose he’s better than other fans, especially the ones who are even bigger fans of my mom, those guys tend to be weird. He understands what it’s like to have a famous parent, so I guess I can put up with him asking to meet someone my dad played with once a week,” you look at your soulmate fondly.
“You really love him, don’t you?” Carlos, the cousin, asks and you give him a weird look.
“Of course I do, he’s my soulmate. I’ve loved him for years, even if I didn’t know who he was,” you say as if it’s the most obvious thing ever.
“Not all soulmates like each other, but it is clear you two love one another,” Ana grabs your hand and squeezes it as you are called to the table. You sit beside Carlos, his hand resting on your thigh as you all enjoy the meal.
“I think it’s time we get going, someone is tired after all the sun today,” you tell his family a few hours later as you run your fingers through Carlos’s fluffy hair. He is visibly tired.
“Get back safely, I hope we see you again soon,” his mom hugs you, knowing Carlos will likely keep you to himself the rest of the week despite loving to be around his family.
“Thank you, especially for trusting me with your son,” you hug her back.
“Thank you for being a wonderful partner to him, I don’t think we could’ve asked for someone better,” she smiles as Carlos Sr walks over.
“Especially the daughter of a Los Blancos, especially one of the Galácticos,” Carlos Sr smiles.
“You and my dad will have to meet one day soon, I am sure he will love to talk football with you,” you smile politely, feeling the exhaustion settling in.
“Let’s get back to the villa, mi amor,” Carlos presses a kiss to the side of your head, bidding his family a goodnight.
The rest of the week is spent relaxing, cuddling, and learning each other. You decide that you want to travel with him when you aren’t working, and that includes the race he is going to straight from Spain.
Carlos is in a meeting at the track when you decide to send him a mental image of you in a bathtub. He takes a sip of water to hide his blush, trying to focus on the meeting and not the growing desire in his mind.
Ay! Cariño, I am in a meeting.
My bad, Carlitos, I didn’t realize. Well, now you have something to look forward to when you get back to the hotel.
You are just lucky I’m not driving right now. The meeting just ended, I’ll be there in 15.
“Lunch?” Charles asks Carlos, who is doing his best to hurry out of the room.
“Not today, I am going back to the hotel for lunch with Y/n,” Carlos says, his pace a little faster than normal. He regrets driving Charles to the meeting, knowing Charles needs a ride back to the hotel. Carlos wasn’t lying about having lunch, he may not be eating food, but he will be eating.
“She has you wrapped around her finger, smart woman. Alright, but you two are getting lunch with me and Alex tomorrow,” Charles brushes off the rejection. Carlos just nods, speeding a little more than usual to get back to the hotel. Charles chooses to attribute the odd behavior to Carlos getting used to the soulmate bond.
The few weeks that you’ve been together feels like years. Both of your fans find your relationship adorable, calling you the next David and Victoria. They aren’t wrong, like your Dad, Carlos would travel long distances just to spend a few minutes with you.
“You know what’s crazy? I would marry you right now,” you say softly as you lay in his arms one night. It’s not unusual for soulmates to marry after a month, after all, the bond is there for a reason, although some never marry because the bond is enough to them.
“I would say let’s do it, but I would have to ask your father first,” he agrees.
“Would I take your last name? How does that work in Spain?” You turn so you look at him.
“Well, no, usually you don’t take your husband’s name. I guess you could be Y/n Beckham de Sainz, but it would also likely come down to where we are married,” Carlos says, thinking over the logistics.
“I like the sound of that,” you test your potential married name out in your mind. “So what would our kids be then, if Spain has weird customs regarding taking your husband’s last name?” you ask, his heart beats a little faster when your hypothetically refer to him as your husband.
“Traditionally, it would be my last name then your last name, so they would be Sainz Beckham, but now it can be any order,” he says, already picturing a mini you running around.
“Sounds lovely,” you yawn. Carlos rubs you back soothingly, your cheek pressed against his bare chest.
“Go to sleep, mi amor, we can talk about it all you want tomorrow morning,” Carlos whispers, feeling your warm breath on his skin.
You never knew it, but he asked for David’s permission before leaving England. Carlos is incredibly grateful for the soulmate bond, he would choose you a million times over. He waits until the last race of the season to propose. You were with him for most of the races, only two conflicted with shoots you were booked for. You watch as he finds you right after the podium, sticky with champagne and sweat, and pulls you into a hug before getting on one knee.
“Y/n, you are my soulmate, my best friend, my favorite travel companion. These past eight months have been nothing short of incredible, and I want to formally make you mine. Will you marry me, Cariño?” Carlos asks, you stare at him in adoration.
“Of course I will,” you say, happy tears streaming down your face as he slides the perfect ring onto your finger.
I love you, Carlitos
I love you more
You don’t rush the wedding, planning it for after the next season. Your mom offers to design your wedding dress and Carlos’s suit, an offer you both happily accept.
“Let’s get married at Bernabéu,” Carlos suggests, partially to see your reaction, one night in his London pad. The two of you make an effort to not only talk mentally.
“No way, Carlitos, if we are getting married on a pitch, it will be Old Trafford,” you shift away from him, horrified at your fiancé.
“Mi amor, I was joking,” Carlos laughs, pulling you back. “I did get us tickets for the Champions League knockout match at Old Trafford,” Carlos says and your eyes widen. The game is only a few weeks away.
“You what?”
“Well, technically it was your dad who got the tickets, I just paid for them,” Carlos smiles, loving your excitement. He didn’t buy tickets, but he can’t tell you about the surprise.
“I haven’t been to a game in so long, you are the best, Carlitos,” you wrap your arms around him, tightly hugging him.
You end up in a box with your family and your dad’s former teammates. Except for your mom and Harper, they aren’t huge football fans. You are wearing one of your dad’s old jerseys while Carlos wears his white Real Madrid jersey.
Your dad wanted to surprise you, think of it like a pre-wedding gift
You look between Carlos and your dad with a huge smile on your face.
“Thank you, Daddy,” you hug him.
“Of course,” He squeezes you before letting you go so you can talk to your uncles. David takes the opportunity to catch up with Carlos.
“Uncle Gary!” You hug your father’s best friend.
“Hey kid, congrats on the engagement and finding your soulmate. Too bad he’s a Real Madrid fan,” Gary says, patting your shoulder.
“Yes, but look at him having the time of his life,” you chuckle, watching Carlos’s starstruck face as your dad introduces him to Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, and Roberto Carlos.
“Is that Baby Beckham?” You turn around and notice Paul Scholes and Roy Keane approaching you.
“Who else would be wearing my Dad’s jersey?” you smile, giving them hugs. It has been a while since you were able to go to a game with your dad and his old teammates.
“Maybe your fiancé,” David Gardner shrugs. You did offer Carlos a replica of your Dad’s jersey from when he played for Real Madrid, but Carlos insisted that he had a lucky jersey.
“Yes, well, no one is perfect. He’s damn close though,” you chuckle.
“Language! Who taught you that?” Roy asks with a gasp.
“I believe we did,” Paul says, nudging his former teammate.
“Mi amor, I might marry your father instead,” Carlos tells you, only a little starstruck. Your uncles burst out into laughter.
“Carlos, these are my Uncles, Paul, Roy, David, and Gary,” you point them out individually.
“I’m her favorite,” David and Gary say at the same time.
“It’s Uncle Gary, he bought her her first beer and babysat her the most,” Brooklyn says, sliding up beside you.
Let’s go sit down, Carlitos. The match is starting
Good idea
You take a seat beside your brothers, which doesn’t bode well for Carlos when Real Madrid loses. The four of you celebrate as Carlos replays the mistake that allowed for a last minute goal. To make up for the loss, David convinces his former Madrid teammates to sign Carlos’s jersey.
“Have a safe flight to Maranello,” your dad hugs you goodbye after the game. Carlos is still a bit in shock.
That season, Carlos wins the WDC, and there is no better way to celebrate than getting married.
The ceremony is beautiful. You rented a large villa in Spain for the ceremony and reception. You didn’t intent for it to be a large star studded affair, but that was just the nature of the two of you getting married. Your mom hit it out of the park with her designs. The satin wedding dress fit perfectly, and wasn’t too simple and wasn’t too busy. Carlos’s suit was perfect, red and white subtle accents are a nice touch. You both cry a little when you see each for the first time.
“Carlos, you are my everything. There isn’t anything that I wouldn’t do for you. I never thought that finding my soulmate would be as great as this, I’d happily hear you sing Smooth Operator in my head in every lifetime if it meant being with you,” you tell him in your vows.
“I never thought I would meet my best friend and soulmate while playing a charity soccer match, but there is no other way I’d want to meet you. You take my breath away, make me a better person, and love Football as much as I do. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” Carlos squeezes your hands.
You are my everything, Carlos
You are the air I breathe, mi vida

hi babe!! love your dad!Charles ideass!! ABSOLUTELY MY EVERYDAY READ!! anyway if you don’t mind, can you make where ruby is jealous of her little sister/brother because her parents give too much attention to him/her and she thinks they forget her.
why not me? | charles leclerc
am i using a mitski lyric as the title? yes. i also got another request similar except uncle pierre makes an appearance
request: Hi! You should do a baby Leclerc one shot where she tells Pierre she’s going to live w him since they had the baby and she thinks they’ve forgotten her
Mathéo was crying too much, that’s what Ruby thought. She didn’t really understood why he even cried. Y/n always fed him, changed his diaper and even called him sweet names to comfort him. Years ago, Ruby was in Mathéo’s position, but now she was older and she didn’t like being pushed to the side.
Ruby was in her playroom. She was coloring in her Barbie book when she heard Mathéo cry. Charles was away for another race so it was just Y/n with her children in their home. Ruby ignored the crying baby since Y/n was taking care of him and continued coloring in. Once she was done, she put down her crayon and walked into Mathéo’s nursery where she found her mother attempting to calm the baby down. Y/n looked stressed, she probably slept about three hours since Mathéo didn’t want to sleep so he cried all night long.
“Mama, look! You’re not looking! I colored Barbie! I want to show grand-mére, can you take a picture and send it to her?” Ruby showed her work proudly.
“Give me a second, Ruby, your brother needs me right now.” Y/n adjusted the baby in her arms.
Ruby watched as her mother held the baby close to her. She felt jealous, she’ll admit that. They went four years with Ruby as their only child and suddenly Mathéo came. Now she had to share everything, especially the love and attention from her parents, uncles, aunts and most importantly, her grand-mére.
“Can you take a picture now?”
“Ruby, I can’t, I’m taking care of your brother.” Y/n sighed as Mathéo continued crying.
“But you always take care of him!”
Ruby ran out of the room nearly in tears. She decided that her parents didn’t need her, not since the new baby arrived. She ran to the living room and saw her mother’s phone on the kitchen counter. She knew she was still on a phone ban but she picked it up and unlocked it. She clicked on the messages icon and saw pierre’s name. She opened up the messages and typed out one of her own.
Y/n
uncle peair can i c ome live wiht you ?
She hit send and waited for a response. Luckily for her, pierre wasn’t busy.
Pierre
what’s wrong, my little ruby?
Y/n
mama do es not love m e
Pierre
Of course she does.
Y/n
No
I want to live wiht u and ki ka
Ruby didn’t get a response back from Pierre. She immediately thought that Pierre was already on his way to pick her up. What she didn’t know was that Pierre has shown the messages to Charles.
Suddenly Y/n’s phone started ringing with Charles’ contact name appearing on the screen. Ruby took the phone to her mother and then ran back to her room.
“Hey, you okay?” Y/n said when she answered the call. She put the call on speaker since she was about to change Mathéo’s diaper.
“I’m okay. But Pierre just received some messages from Ruby. They came from your phone.” Charles explained so Y/n checked her texts and saw what Ruby had typed to the Frenchman.
“Oh, Ruby.” Y/n sighed. “She was trying to show me her coloring book and Mathéo was crying. I’ll talk to her.”
“Give her kisses for me, I’ll be home soon. Let me know how it goes.” Charles said then Y/n hung up.
After changing Mathéo, Y/n carried him to Ruby’s room where she was all snuggled up with blankets in her bed watching ‘Cars’ on her iPad.
“Ruby, papa told me that you sent uncle pierre some messages. You want to live with uncle pierre and kika?” Y/n entered the room and sat on her daughter’s bed.
“Yes and he’s already on his way.” She said confidently.
“Well uncle pierre lives in Italy and papa and i would miss you so much.” Y/n said.
“No you wouldn’t! You have the baby.” Ruby replied.
“Ruby, papa and i love you and the baby so much. You’re my special little girl and Mathéo is my special little boy. You were the one who made me a mama. You know before you were born, I thought I was never going to be able to have children and then you came. That’s why you’re my special little girl, Ruby Jules.”
“Am I papa’s special girl too?” She asked curiously.
“You’ve always been, baby. He was so excited to meet you. He cried so many times but don’t tell him I told you.” Y/n chuckled when she saw Ruby laugh at the thought of her papa crying.
“So you still love me?”
“Ruby Jules, we never stopped loving you.”

finishing ur requests? uum no. another idea nobody asked about? yes pls💯💯
wooin x sis!reader (platonic)
author’s note : after last chapter i had this headcanon in my head. i suspect that wooin grew up in toxic household where his parents make him study, locking him up in his room, but boy probably was dreaming about just be free, and once left home. i also suspect his family probably has the same wealth as minu, but his parents way more toxic and controlling. but when he left home he left his part there, the part of his soul.
honesty 1000% in love how some ppl just ignored my closed inbox and keep sent requests🤣🤍🫵🏻 seriously guys, the best!! i will answer all requests, almost all is in process(i mean at least 20-40% already done) but now enjoying my time at home😌💌🔒
warnings : no(?) lil fluff, lil angst, nothing hardcore, prob grammar mistakes(not proofed as all my writings)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
༘⋆ wooin is older sibling 100%
༘⋆ when his parents told him he will have a sister, when he was 3 or 4 he was jealous, and whole 9 months he waited for someone who will ruin his life
༘⋆ but instead, when your father brought you and your mum to home from hospital, wooin was confused
༘⋆ he only saw a small girl, no one who could harm him in any way
༘⋆ your first ever smile was for him, or because of him by the way!! and he blushed so so much when your small hand clung to his index finger
༘⋆ so he built a soft spot for you in his heart in two years, because first years you’ve been crying, screaming and sobbing mess, well like all toddlers, while wooin was saying that he was too old to babysit you (bro was like 5-6 years old and crying himself to sleep bc didn’t understand how 10*10 equals 100 and 11*11 didn’t equal 111)
༘⋆ btw you were always silent when he was babysitting you. he chuckled each time when you looked at him with wide open eyes
༘⋆ through his childhood your parents were extremely strict with him, so he partly grateful to you for the fact that you took some attention on yourself and gave him the opportunity to be free from his studies and lectures from your parents for a while
༘⋆ but each year atmosphere in your home becomes more toxic, and when you grow up a little you could remember how wooin was locked in his room to study better, because he didn’t have acceptable marks
༘⋆ but you would always sneak in his room late at night, with your saved from the morning sweets and share some with him
༘⋆ you both favorite was lollipops with lemon favors tho!!
༘⋆ when you were about 13 years old, wooin left the house, he was 17
༘⋆ no need to say that your parents were furious. especially your father. in korea it’s common that son is inherits family business or work, so it’s always been a big scandal over his marks, behavior and look
༘⋆ so when he left, for you it meant that all the attention and rigor of your parents were transferred to you
༘⋆ atter the first couple of months of your brother's absence, he found the strength to meet with you
༘⋆ wooin knew perfectly that parents rage will reflect on you, and honestly he were scared - that you will hate him
༘⋆ when he met you near your school, he froze for few seconds and then hugged you so tight that you thought he was about to break your ribs (you returned him that favor)
༘⋆ you two always were close, wooin was your freshness in a house full of stuffy, stagnant air, while you was his little sunshine of hope and happiness in his dark, locked room
༘⋆ you didn’t have a lot of time after your school, so you just hugged tightly and exchanged phone numbers, so you could stay in touch
༘⋆ few days after you find the way to sneak out of the house to meet with your brother you spend few hours on a bench talking and listening to each other
༘⋆ - how are the relatives? on a scale of one to fucked up, how angry were they?
- fucked up in a cube, you know our dad, he wasn't just furious, from the screams from their room, i think he literally lost his temper
༘⋆ wooin just chuckled sadly and rubbed his neck with the palm of his hand
༘⋆ as the years passed, your nightly meetings continued. sometimes he would catch you after school or another after-school club where your parents had put you
༘⋆ wooin offered you to run away to him several times. by your senior year in school, he was self-supporting, and he even had some white-haired giant working for him, constantly pining after him
༘⋆ somehow you refused, deciding to finish school first and then he promised to help you with either work or university, depends on what you will choose
༘⋆ yes, guys from sabbath know you
༘⋆ yes, heyok once caught you two hugging
*wooin pressed his lips on top of your head, tightly shutting his eyes, frowning a little, he didn’t know when he will see you again, because he knew, in exam session parents won’t let you have a free second*
༘⋆ in first place heyok though you two dating, but then joker explained him how things actually going(my headcanon that they gossip girls, frfr)
༘⋆ since you hanged out with wooin you caught your brother’s manners of jokes
༘⋆ “hey, big bro, does that new red haired guy in your team have a girlfri..”
“don’t you even dare to finish this sentence” he exclaimed indignantly. no way his precious little sis will deal with that motherfucker.

Growing Pains - I
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You're forced to come with during nationals due to your father being the lead coach of the team. You and Lottie have just had a falling out of sorts, and then, the plane crashes. Your father dies, and now you must explore the new dynamics between your brothers, you, and Lottie.
fem!martinez!reader (she/her pronouns for reader, reader is referred to as travis & javi’s sister and a girl at some point i think), angst with a hopeful ending ! part 1 of 2
link to part 2 here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You sighed, wringing your hands and shifting nervously from foot to foot. It was extremely early in the morning, and you were at the airport instead of lying comfortably in bed. Your father, the lead coach of your school’s girls’ soccer team, the Yellowjackets, had forced you to come along on this trip. Your relationship with your father was strained, to say the least. His constant pressure for you to join the team only added to the tension. Your father had been asking you about joining the team since you made it to high school. Being a year younger than most of the team, only a junior, you still had a year to join. This trip was his final attempt at recruiting you. You’re almost certain the only reason he’s bringing your brothers is to avoid raising suspicion.
You could always bitch to Travis about how your dad wouldn’t leave you be about the team, the two of you not discreet about your distaste for the man when behind closed doors. You and Travis were closer in age, so naturally, you two were more alike. It also helped that both of you only seemed to be able to piss your father off. It was clear to you both that neither of you was the favorite, something you bonded over at a young age.
You would make sure to find something positive about the trip to talk about with Javi, not wanting the boy to be bored or lonely. You loved him, truly, even if he could be annoying at times. You and Javi were closer than he and Travis, you were sure, but you couldn’t help but worry he felt left out by you two.
This trip was only made worse because she was going to be here. Lottie Matthews. You and Lottie had a rather…complicated relationship. You were forced to come to many of the team’s practices and games, Coach Martinez’s way of attempting to kindle a love of the sport in you. You never really were one for sports. But, not wanting to upset him, you always tagged along, helping set up equipment or other vague ways of participating without trying out. Lottie had been among the first to come up to you on the team. Despite your initial reluctance, you couldn't deny that something about her drew you in.
You two formed a quick friendship that eventually led to more. It started as a way to piss off your fathers, in all honesty. Lottie’s dad was one of the main funders of the team, and your dad was, obviously, the coach. You had shared your hatred for the men who called themselves your family. And so, the two of you figured out a way that you could anger them.
Well. Sort of.
You see, you can’t exactly walk up to your disgruntled parents and say, “Hey! I’m hooking up with a girl!” Especially not in 1996 Wiskayok. Instead, it satisfied you both enough to know you were doing something forbidden, something that the two would loathe. And so, you two had started messing around.
But then, you made the terrible mistake of actually starting to like Lottie. It went so far beyond ‘sorta-friend that I used to piss my dad off in my head.’ You loved her. And you told her as much. She had looked at you wide-eyed and muttered that she needed to go. The two of you hadn't spoken since, and the pain of her rejection still lingers in your heart.
You really didn’t want to be here, but your father wouldn’t take no for an answer. Your face formed a grimace upon walking past Lottie. She offered a smile; you don’t see her frown as you walk past, not even acknowledging her. Her smile, once a source of comfort, now only serves as a painful reminder of what once was.
Once you board the plane, Javi tries to sit next to Travis, and you frown, seeing him deny the boy. You’re about to tell him to behave when you notice Lottie sitting ahead. Travis is side-eyeing you, indicating that he’s noticed. Ah, so that’s why. Travis had known about the two of you having to deal with your lovesick ramblings. He had been a tremendous help ever since what happened between you two, always around to get your mind off things. You nod at him thankfully and plop down right next to him. He pretends to be annoyed, and you pretend to tell him you don’t care. You look at Javi sitting by himself. He seems all right; he's just a bit annoyed with Travis. He notices you looking, and you smile at him, grin widening when he waves and smiles back. Your father will likely sit by him when it's time to take off.
You turn back to Travis, who’s looking at you with a grimace. Your father stops by, telling you both to be on your best behavior. Then, he’s sitting by Javi, looking out the window and nodding to whatever the younger boy says. You fall asleep to the sound of Travis grumbling about your father, your head comfortably resting on his shoulder.
You wake to screaming. Bleary-eyed from sleep and panic steadily rising from the sounds you hear, you look around in shock. Travis looks around incredulously, his body pushed up against the seat. He has a protective arm in front of you to keep you from falling forward.
You look around helplessly. You notice your father running from person to person, ensuring they’re buckled and wearing their masks. You shout for him, but over the commotion, he doesn’t seem to notice. Looking back, you notice Javi is buckled and wearing his oxygen mask. You almost sigh in relief at seeing that he’s alright, at least for now. But your father, your stupid, stupid father, is still checking on all the girls. The plane hits a bump, and he almost flies out. You rise from your seat despite Travis’ fearful protests.
You reach your dad, grab his arm, and pull him back towards the seats. Fate has another idea, however, as the plane hits another bump, and the two of you fly out of the plane.
You awake for the second time in what appears to be a tree. You're looking around, scared out of your mind, when you notice it—the large branch protruding from your stomach and the sight of a horrifically broken arm. You grimace, trying your hardest to refrain from crying out in pain.
Then, you see him. Your father is in a tree not too far away from you, his body bloodied and mangled. You choke on your blood and vomit. You're scared. So, so afraid. Your father is likely dead; you just were in a plane crash, and you were stuck in a tree. So, you do the only thing you can think of. You scream.
You're sobbing, and suddenly, your name is being called. You look around, vision blurring. You can hear arguing and the sounds of people crying. You know that you’re dying. Suddenly, you hear your brothers. Javi and Travis. You feel sick to your stomach, but the idea of them coming for you is so comforting you can’t help but indulge your selfish wants. You call out for them tiredly.
The last thing you see before you pass out is what looks like Travis scaling the tree you’re in, coming to try and help you.
The third time you wake up, you are not sure you’re alive. The noise has died down, and an awkward, morose silence hangs thick in the air. If it weren’t for the horrible ache in both your shoulder and abdomen, you would think it was all just a bad dream.
But there was no denying it. Your father was dead. You were injured. God only knows how many other survivors there were in the plane crash.
You try to raise your head to analyze your surroundings. Your vision blurs, and you wince in pain. Alright. No sitting up, then. Your whole body hurts, and you want even a semblance of normalcy, so you cry out for your brothers.
“...Travis..? Javi?” you croak, “Where are you?”
There was faint murmuring around you before, along with a fire crackling. Now, however, the voices have paused. You groan in pain, and soon, you hear shuffling.
The last person you want to see hovers above you, looking down with concern. She calls your name happily, drops to her knees, and hugs you. You're too tired to push her away or even to be upset, really.
“...Lott...? Where…where are my brothers…?”
Someone else is beside you instantly, grabbing your hand in an iron grip and sobbing uncontrollably. It’s Javi. It's hard to distinguish what he's saying between his gasps for air. All you can hear is an incoherent string of apologies.
Your arm feels…weird. You must say this aloud because Lottie bites her lip anxiously, and her eyes dart down to the side you’re sure is broken. Javi wails louder.
You know you shouldn’t have looked. You were expecting to see your arm broken, of course, as opposed to the absence of a limb that you now had. You faintly hear Lottie telling you not to look and trying to hold your head back, but the damage has already been done. Your arm has been hacked off.
You do the only thing you feel like you remember how to do.
You scream.
Adjusting to one arm, along with a rather infected-looking stomach injury, was tough. It was even more challenging when you were trapped in the middle of nowhere with a group of girls you barely knew who kept whispering about how sorry they were for you whenever they thought you weren’t listening. You and Travis had hardly spoken since the crash. You’d always been close, but now? It felt like you were worlds apart. Javi was doing his best to stay strong, but it was apparent how much everything was wearing on him. Not to mention how pissy Travis had been with him lately…
You hadn’t even wanted to come on this stupid trip. And now, here you were, trapped with a bunch of virtual strangers who kept giving you their ill-timed condolences. Your older brother was constantly terrorizing your younger brother, barely speaking to you in the process. Great!
You had barely spoken to any of the girls. The last thing you were sure you’d said out loud was, “Oh, fuck you,” in response to Lottie asking the other girls, “Who died and made Travis king of snacks?” like an idiot. She flinched as soon as you said it, but you could honestly care less. You were tired and in pain, and she was the last person you wanted to be around.
Lottie kept trying to get you alone to talk afterward, but you stayed glued to Travis and Javi’s sides. You didn’t want to talk to her. Didn’t want to deal with anything. Burying the victims of the crash was a nightmare. You nearly refused to participate. You ended up helping with the team members but left your father to the others. You couldn’t look at him without a pit forming in your stomach.
When it came time to relocate, you voted for the change of scenery. You couldn’t stand to sleep so close to your dad’s grave and scene of death every night. Couldn’t stand to be near where you almost died yourself. And so, you all went to the lake.
The hike was awful. Hot, buggy, and filled with rotting animal carcasses. Not to mention that you had lost a lot of blood before. Misty made you walk between Travis and Javi so they could help you if you felt faint. You insisted on walking on your own, however. She looked like she wanted to argue, but you simply reminded her that she cut your fucking arm off. The least she could do was give you some bodily autonomy.
When you reached the lake, you decided submerging your body wouldn’t be the greatest idea. After all, you couldn’t exactly swim the way you were used to. So you sighed and sat at the beach. You overhear one of the girls talking about how Travis is “kinda hot,” and you nearly gag. How can they be so carefree when you all worked together just days ago to bury people? You glare at her, and she seems to notice, shutting up immediately.
When Lottie noticed you alone and moved to talk to you, you relocated next to Misty and Coach Ben. Ben assured Misty that he would be okay with your company, convincing her to enjoy the water a bit. She hesitantly agreed.
“Hey,” he greeted once you were alone. You nodded in acknowledgment.
“I’m uh- I’m sorry about-”
“Don’t,” you warned, tone laced with venom. He shuts his mouth quickly after that, nodding silently.
Finding the cabin was a godsend. Having shelter instead of sleeping under the stars, where any animal could find and attack you? It was a much-needed change.
You notice Lottie everywhere. It's hard not to when you’re stranded somewhere with her and the rest of the team. She’s been acting…strange. More awkward and anxious than usual. You want to ask her if she’s okay, but you know that isn't your place. Not anymore. You still love her, but you’re angry; you’re sure she doesn’t care much about you, so the gesture would weird her out more than anything.
On the first night of the cabin, Lottie nearly refuses to enter. You overhear her talking to Taissa about how this place has “a bad vibe” and that she’s scared. You want to comfort her, but Tai simply refutes her statement and drags her inside. You eye her wearily as she sits down on the floor. She’s uncomfortable; that much is crystal clear.
When everyone goes to lie down, she looks at you sadly. She ends up setting her makeshift bed up next to Nat instead of near where she assumes you’ll be sleeping: next to Javi and Travis. You groan internally at her wounded deer look and pick up your pillow and blanket, setting them down by her. She looks up at you in alarm, opening and closing her mouth a few times, but never says anything.
Later that night, when everyone is asleep, you hear her shuffling around. You sigh, sitting up and tapping her shoulder. She jumps a bit, eyes flying open, but relaxes, realizing it’s only you.
“You…uhm, you okay?” you whisper nervously, avoiding eye contact.
“No,” she says immediately, her voice hushed like your own. You frown at this. “There’s something wrong with this place.”
You raise a brow but nod slowly.
“Okay. Where?”
“What?” she asks, alarmed.
“Where is it wrong? I’ll help you check it out. Maybe then you’ll stop rustling around so much and keeping me up,” you mumble, although you’re sure she sees through your lie. She knows you want to comfort her.
She stands warily, holding out a hand to help you up. You take it, but as soon as you’re up, you drop it like she’s aflame and has burnt you. You navigate through all the girls until you reach the ladder to the attic. She’s right. It does feel rather creepy. But, determined to make her feel better, you consider your options.
“I can’t go up with you,” you start, “Why don’t you just check it out? I’ll be here if there’s- y’know, like, anything weird.”
She nods, climbing the ladder quickly. Minutes pass, and she still hasn't come down. You’ve tried calling her but haven't received a response. Eventually, Taissa comes over, having woken up. You explain what happened, and she nods. She climbs the ladder, and you finally hear Lottie speak.
“I told you.”
After burying yet another body, you all find that you desperately need food. You’re starving, so you must decide who will be the best with the rifle you’ve seen at the cabin. You’ll have to sit this one out, it seems, as you. You know. Only have one arm now.
You’re sitting a bit far away from the rest of the commotion at the ‘shooting range’ you’ve all crafted when it happens. Nat says something to Travis, and he points the gun at her, eyes dark and angry. Your stomach clenches, and you rush over with purpose. Ben scolds him, and when he finally lowers the gun, there’s a cruel look of satisfaction on his face. You wack him so hard in the back of the head he stumbles.
“Stop being such a jackass! You don’t point a fucking gun at someone!”
He’s about to argue, but you give him such a scathing look that he shuts his mouth. What he’s just done must sink in because he looks ashamed. He shoves the gun into Nat’s arms and falls back. There are a few snickers from the other girls, but your look is enough to shut them up. Nat looks extremely shaken up, so you pat her on the shoulder gently. She tenses, looking at you with wide eyes. You nod at her. She nods back, grateful.
She hits all the newly set-up targets over. Nat and Travis have won the shooting competition.
They’re sent off with the rifle. Before they leave, you tell Travis to be careful. He shrugs you off, stalking away when he’s not immediately handed the gun. You sigh, telling Nat to be cautious and apologizing for whatever asshole thing Travis will say next. She smiles at you before rushing to chase after him.
You sigh, watching them disappear into the forest. Someone walks up behind you; as you turn to look, you notice it's Lottie. You wave awkwardly.
“I have to get some firewood. Do you…uhm…do you want to come with..?”
You can’t exactly help. You nod anyway.
The two of you walk over to the log pile. Lottie starts to chop some wood while you sit nearby, casually talking. It's nice, you think, to speak to her again. After all, before your whole relationship fiasco, you were once friends. When she’s done, you’re almost disappointed. You don’t want to stop talking with her, but you don’t exactly have an excuse anymore.
You’re standing awkwardly, about to walk off, when she grabs your wrist and leads you into the forest. You’re a little ways away when she starts speaking again, not answering any of your confused questions of, “Where are we going?” and “What are you doing?”
“We need to talk,” she decides to open with. You furrow your brow.
“Pretty sure we could talk over by the firewood, too.”
“Not about this,” she says, and, okay, your curiosity was officially peaked.
“Okay…?”
“I’m sorry,” she starts, and you instantly cut her off.
“You guys don’t have to keep apologizing about my dad, okay? I- I get it. You feel bad, and-”
“That’s not what I’m apologizing for.”
You're both silent for a minute.
“I’m sorry that I ran away. I should’ve told you that I loved you, too.”
You flinch.
“You’re just saying that.”
“I’m not. I love you, too. I would scream it from the mountaintops if I could. I love you more than anything in the world. I want to be with you. I’m sorry I-I ran away, and-”
“Why did you leave, then?”
She freezes, fear in her eyes. She babbles incoherently for a bit, but you can’t focus on it. You’re too busy trying not to cry. Why would she do this to you again? Just when you thought you were getting over it, she tries to come back to clear her conscience. You breathe a heavy sigh.
“Look, I get…I get that you feel bad. But…you don’t have to lie to me.”
She looks alarmed.
“I’m not lying to you!”
You look at her skeptically. Telling her you can still be civil and friendly, you begin to walk away. She grabs your wrist in an ironclad grip.
“Let me prove it to you,” she says, “Uhm…please?”
You roll your eyes. If it means you can go back to the cabin, you’ll do anything. You nod in agreement. You both walk back in a slightly awkward silence, but you note the far-away look on Lottie’s face.
How the hell was this going to work?
Travis and Nat return with a deer. A whole deer. Everyone tears into their share of the meat hungrily. While eating, you slip some of yours over to Javi. He’s been distraught since Travis took his gum, and all you want is to make the kid smile again.
You notice Travis giving Javi a ring. He says your father gave it to him before the flight, and he wanted Javi to have it since he was missing him. You know damn well that your father was buried in that ring. You look at him in confusion, but he’s too busy gratefully looking at Nat to notice. You tap Travis’ shoulder, and he turns to look at you. There’s a silent question in your gaze that he simply shakes his head in response to. You supposed he would tell you later. Raising his hand, he ruffles your hair, making you groan in annoyance.
You thought back to what Lottie said about proving to you that she was telling the truth. Honestly, you doubted she’d be able to do it. If she couldn’t even tell you why she ran, there really was no point to this. Still, a foolish part of you clung to the hope that she could truly feel the same. At least the two of you were on speaking terms once again.
Thinking about Javi and Travis’ relaxed smiles, Lottie’s look of determination, and the satisfied hunger within your stomach, you relaxed for what felt like the first time in weeks.
Maybe everything would be okay.

SURPRISINGLY, BAILEY LET HER JOIN THE PLAN. It didn’t take a lot of convincing on Ethan’s part, they all suffered the loss of a loved one, so they knew the thirst for revenge Y/N must be feeling.
“I’m sorry you have to go through that… being close to the person that killed your sister must be tough, kid” Bailey said, putting a hand on her shoulder.
“It is, but I know that this pain is worth it. We are going to make them regret taking them away from us”
“Well said” Quinn spoke, and Y/N sent her a smile. “We should head back to the dorm”.
“Sure. Thanks for everything, Mr. Kirsch” Y/N said with a warm smile.
“You are welcome anytime” he replied.
“Bye, dad” the Kirsch siblings said in unison as they left their dad’s home.
“You two go, I have other plans” Quinn told them.
“Paul?” Y/N asked with a playful smile.
“God, no. That is over, this one is called Lorenzo” the red head informed.
“Uh, Lorenzo. I like it, have fun” the girl waved at her roommate.
“You too, but if you have too much fun please don’t tell me” the girl’s voice distorted as she walked away, but they were still able to hear her.
Ethan’s blood rushed into his cheeks “Sometimes she speaks too freely”.
“You say that now, but if…” she stopped herself from going further and killing the mood “Sorry”.
“Hey, no. It’s okay, you can talk to me, you know?”
Ethan and her weren’t close at all. This new alliance brought them closer, yes, but the word ‘friend’ was still a bit too big for their relationship. However, he was the closest person she had at the moment, it had been so long since the last time she talked to someone without having to fake or hide emotions, that she just gave in.
“I miss her, a lot” she grimaced. Vulnerability was not something she was accustomed to show. “I don’t have the luxury of having other siblings, and even if I did, what I had with Amber was something unique. All the things that once bothered me about her, are the ones I now miss. I would give everything to hear her awful rap playlist that I absolutely loathe, or the loud and tiring parties she hosted despite knowing how uncomfortable I felt at them, and god I even miss her talking my ear off about that awful horror movie franchise she adored”.
“She sounds just like my brother” he sighed. “It’s nice that you had a nice relationship with her”.
“You weren’t close to Richie?” she asked.
Ethan shook his head “No. Our age difference, our different taste in things, we just never connected that much. And…”
“Yeah?” she encouraged him.
“I guess part of me has always resented him” he confessed, there was a trace of guiltiness in his statement.
“Can I ask why?” Y/N asked carefully.
“He was my dad’s golden boy. You know when kids asked their parents which child is their favourite and they say they love them all equally, even though it’s not true, as to not hurt their feelings?”
“Yes” she said unsure.
“Well, my dad wasn’t like that. He favoured Richie and admitted it proudly. And Quinn, being the only girl, also has a special place in his heart. His little girl, you know? And I am just there”
“Ethan…”
“I’m not saying he doesn’t love me, ‘cause I know he does, but Richie is gone, and I’m here and that disappoints him a bit” he had his eyes glued to the pavement, not daring to look her in the eyes. And Y/N wanted to throw up, cry and hug him at the same time. “Sorry. I overshared, right?” he tried to laugh it off.
“How long have you been bottling that up?” she asked softly.
“The resentment? My whole life. The thought of my father being disappointed I wasn’t the one who died? For a year” he replied.
The vulnerable environment encouraged her to grab his hand “Well, you can come to me whenever you want to, no matter how dark your thoughts are”.
Ethan smiled, and Y/N was in awe at how perfect his teeth were and how mesmerising his smile was “The same goes for you, Y/N/N”.
They continued their walk towards the dorms with the sound of the busy streets of New York resonating in their ears. None of them said a word until they reached Ethan’s apartment, which was the closest one. He had to let go of her hand—and regretting it instantly when he felt the warmth of her palm leaving his skin—, as he looked for his keys.
“Well, thank you for everything, Ethan. I’ll let you rest”
“See you tomorrow, Y/N/N” he gave her his dazzling smile once more before closing the door.
Y/N went to bed with the a good feeling on her chest. She finally was about to get the revenge she had desired and also, maybe, she had gained someone to talk to, a potential friend.

OUTLAW (8)
ATEEZ ot8 x Reader
Series Masterlist
Warnings: None (Unless you wanna count Wooyoung. He's spicy in this story)
Tumblr media
The time came around again when you had to go out and stock up on groceries for the home. Your mother had been the one to ask you seeing as you had more free time on your hands with Yeosang and Seonghwa taking over some of the chores that only you and your parents were able to tend to. So now it was that time in the week where she would give you a list to go out to the weekend market to get things for the family.
“Would you like someone to accompany you?” Your sister had asked you before you left the lobby.
“No.” You shook your head. “I should be fine.” You gave her smile to calm her a bit.
You knew by the face she pulled she sometimes worried about the gangs that the men at the bar would bring up. While it was the middle of the day and it was rare for outlaws to come in, she was still your sister. However for you, you knew you had nothing to worry about when it came to this so-called gang.
“I'll accompany you.” A male’s voice rang out. Jongho was buttoning up his vest, the metal deputy star on his chest on display as he walked closer. “I was heading out anyways.”
“Thank you, Jongho.” You told him with a smile, eyes almost closing from how wide your lips stretched.
“Give me a moment to get my things.” He turned back around towards the hallway, moving out of sight.
“What are you doing?” Your sister’s question made you turn to her. She was looking at you with a scrunched up face, almost as if she was looking at a completely different person.
“What do you mean?” You asked.
“I thought dad told you to butter Yeosang up.” She proclaimed. “Also you have never talked to a man and suddenly you have three claiming to be your friend and wanting to take you out. What are you doing?” She repeated.
“Nothing.” You frowned. “I swear.”
She had raised her eyebrows, her face showing that she wasn’t one to be fooled by what you said. You knew she was suspicious already since the day she found you in the deputies room, but the way she was looking at you now made you feel icky.
“Don't look at me like that.” You shook your head.
“I don't want others to think things of you, (Y/N).” She sighed.
Your shoulders slumped when you realized what it was she was talking about. You knew what they said about the women who didn’t marry by a certain age or saw them with men all the time. They were often talked about by the other ladies, criticized for living the way they wanted. You never spoke to one of those kinds of women, but you oftentimes did wonder why it was they reached that point.
However, hearing it from your own sister that she was worried others would see you the same way meant that she was thinking it. It bothered you, but you knew she didn’t mean any harm by it.
“And if they do, that’s on them.” You shook your head. “My business is my business. I'm not roped down to anyone but myself.”
“Ready.” Jongho stopped the conversation, giving you sister a nod of his head.
You gave her a weak smile from over your shoulders, turning around to follow after the policeman. Like last time, he allowed you to walk out the door first, following in your steps at your side. Once more you took notice of the manners he had, moving you to the other side of the sidewalk. He took up the one where the carriages passed and the occasional vehicle.
If he noticed your stare on him on the way to the market he didn’t ask you about it. But after a bit you realized you were looking for too long so you decided to start up a conversation.
“I've noticed you and Yunho have been going out more.” You spoke to him. “How is Cromer?”
“It's a lot smaller than we're used to for sure.” He answered, keeping his eyes around his surroundings. “It has things that get us by though. Can't complain.” He shrugged.
“Obviously.” You snorted. “The townsfolk need to survive. It's still growing so maybe one day it'll be a big city like you enjoy.” You grinned up at him. “Maybe when you retire.”
“I'll consider it.” He tried to fight off the smile. “I don't know what I'll do the day I get old and can't move.”
“You guys will rob the rich with walking sticks.” You laughed out loud. This got him to chuckle as well, looking down to the ground to avoid your stare.
The bright metal of the deputy star on his vest caught your attention. It began to create questions in your head that you wanted to ask. But you knew better. They weren’t people who associated themselves with citizens. They weren’t going to answer questions you might have had. But that doesn’t stop you from trying. You always did have a mouth.
“I don't know if I'm allowed to ask but why are you doing this if you're a police officer? Won't you be tried for treason if you're caught?” You watched him shuffle his feet slowly, almost as though he wasn’t expecting your question.
You weren’t surprised though. He did give you a weird look when you asked if you were allowed to even ask him that kind of question. He knew you weren’t someone who didn’t speak their mind however he was quick to notice there was a lot that you kept from asking. He figured it was because you were too scared to ask, in your head they are criminals. After Seonghwa had explained they weren’t nasty criminals, maybe you started to open up.
He took a moment to think about his answer. The way he gazed at you made you internally shiver, as though he was sizing you up. You knew it was a personal question, but you wanted to take the chance. You saw how the four who were in close range to you seemed to let their guards down. They were relaxed when speaking with you. Maybe you had taken their friendliness as something akin to trust, and thinking it to yourself, you realized how stupid you sounded.
“There was a heist we did a while ago that caused us to separate.” Your eyebrows raised when Jongho began the story.”We had to lay low for a year before we got the chance to meet up again. In that time, me and Yunho were put together and we joined the force to keep tabs on the boys easier. We've been there since because you'd be surprised at how much easier it is to get by without people noticing you.”
There was a light feeling in your chest that made you smile. You never thought about how much it meant to speak to someone on a level that was closely related to friendship. Girls and boys alike all distanced themselves from you when you had hit adulthood. They didn’t really speak much other than what they wanted to.
When it came to your female friends they all thought differently to you and it would cause a rift between you all. With the men, they didn’t like that you were too independent so it caused them to find someone who would do what they wanted.
Learning about Jongho and Yunho really made you miss companionship. The trust people had in one another with things about their past or their future endeavors with one another. And judging by the story Jongho gave you the boys were all super close. It almost made you jealous.
“That actually sounds like a smart plan.” You nodded your head.
“I'm sure you can come up with some elaborate plans too.” Jongho grinned. “The way you think is different.”
You rolled your eyes, taking in a deep breath. “Yeah. I know.”
Jongho noticed how you seemed to drop your shoulders and looked off to the side. He bumped his shoulders with yours lightly. “I like it.”
You paused to look up at him, your face heating up. You had stopped at the entrance of the market, hand gripping tightly onto the bags your mother had given you.
“Wooyoung.” Jongho called over your shoulder. You turned around to see the bubbly man skipping his way over to the two of you. He had a bright grin on his face, eyes going over your form.
“Hello, Jongho!” He greeted, coming to stand next to you. From the side you were on, you noticed the mole he had under his eye which only served as a reminder that any blemish the boys had only made them look like heavens creations. You curled your lips, looking off to the side as you felt your face heat up.
Since when have you ever seen a man that good looking? What’s more, eight of them? Wow, you just now noticed how lonely you actually were.
“What brings you here?” Jongho furrowed his eyebrows. “Where are the others?”
“It's just me.” The man waved Jongho off. “Hongjoong sent me out to find some things for the camp. Besides, it's been a while since I've looked around. I wanna take in the sights.” He added with a grin.
“Sweetheart.” He licked his lips, giving you a raise of his eyebrows.
“Hi, Wooyoung.” You politely told him, soft eyes on him.
The look he got from you caused him to straighten his back, his grin widening. “How's work life going? Must be really nice to get to spend the day with the boys.”
“If that's what you think.” You laughed.
The three of you began your trek into the market, your eyes glancing over all the produce that was available. You noticed Wooyoung only looked over certain things, not picking them up. But then again, he didn’t have a basket for his items. You sighed, thinking to yourself that you would make them bags.
While looking over some vegetables, you felt a presence behind you. Just as you were about to turn around to ask the person to move back, you froze when you noticed Wooyoung had placed his head on your shoulder, his breath hitting the shell of your ear.
You shivered, but turned back to look at the produce. The man squinted his eyes, wrapping his arms around your waist to get closer. When he noticed you weren’t going to acknowledge him, he decided he would be the one to make himself known.
“Do I make you nervous?” You heard him whisper in your ear.
“Should you?” You asked quietly, only moving your eyes to look at him at your shoulder.
“Of course not.” He quickly pulled back, grinning. “I make most women nervous though.” He shrugged, feeling dejected about the new revelation of not having a woman swoon over him.
“She's not like most women.” Jongho smirked.
“So you all say.” He turned to you, moving some of your hair over your shoulder. “Come see me one day. I'd like to get a show.”
“A show of what?” You squint your eyes, jaw locking.
“Don't take his words to heart. It's just the way he talks.” Jongho told you.
“Like he's big game?” You asked, keeping an eye on Wooyoung who gave a teasing smile.
“You have no clue.” He smirked. “Wait 'till you meet Wooyoung from Aurora.”
“He's supposed to be better?” You tilted your head.
“He is insatiable.”

Yunho pov
I approached Y/n’s house and knocked on the door, and played with my sleeves of my jumper scared that she moved on and is dating someone else, Y/n opened the door and looked at me shocked “Y/n… I-I’m sorry for everything I did, I should’ve-“ she cut me off saying“Yunho…. How’ve you been, come in” I walked in seeing a young child raising his arms up for her to pick him up, she looked at him and picked him up.
“You have a child?” I was about to leave seeing that she’s moved on until she held my hand and smiled “Yu-Wonie meet your dad, Yunho” tears form in my eyes after finding out that the baby is mine. I smile and she let me hold him, “can I kiss you?” She smiled ant me and nodded I put my son down and pulled Y/n closer to me and kissed her, she kissed me back wrapping her arms around my neck. “I think I’m ready to go home now” I nodded and took her home with me, she packed all her and Yu-Won’s clothes and I froze us back home.
“Yunho is it okay if you take Yu-Won with you while I say hi to my friends and sort out my socials” “yeah that’s fine but I have a meeting today” she smiled at me holding my arm “I trust you”, once we got home she went to her friends while I went to the meeting early, I hid my son under the table with his baby seat, he was crying so I raised up his baby bottle and his hands shot up trying to grab it “I have to heat it first” San walked in confused at me holding a baby bottle, “is this your guilty pleasure since like Y/n left?” I roll my eyes looking at him “I got her back asshole, this is my sons” “wait no one told me Y/n is back! And you two have a son???!” “You literally texted the group chat 0.1 seconds before Yeosang told me he found her” “right, I’ll go heat it up for you” I thanked him and he went to go heat up the baby bottle, once he gave it to me I waited for it to cool down and gave it to him, as soon as I handed it to him everyone started walking in, I didn’t want them knowing a baby is here during an important meeting, so I hid him.
“Okay so Stray Kids is here so no one do anything” we all nodded and they walked in glaring at us. I didn’t care about them and focused on my son, as soon as I looked down to check on him I couldn’t see him “shit” everyone looked at me and apologized, seconds later our boss jumped a bit and looked down seeing a baby sitting on his shoes drinking his milk.
“Dad what’s wrong?” Hyunjin said in confusion, “a baby” he picked up the baby and I got up running to my son, “Yu-Wonie” I took him from Y/n’s dad and everyone except San got up from their seat and looked a me in shock “you’re cheating on my sister!” “No.. this-“ “then why are you hiding the child, if Y/n hears about this-“
“What about me?” Y/n looked at them confused as Hyunjin ran too her getting ready to end my career, “Yunho has a son” “mama” Yu-won called for her and she picked him up from my arms “has daddy been treating you right?” He smiled and hugged her.
Y/n pov
“wait you and Yunho have a son?” I nodded and smiled at Yunho“Yes” “I’m just glad you’re back” Hyunjin said hugging me with a worried expression. After talking to my brother, my father told me to stay in his office while he talks with Stray Kids and ATEEZ, I nodded and walked out.
Yunho pov
“Okay so the reason why Stray Kids is here is because they wanted to join us” me and my group looked at each other in shock, “wait so you want to join us?” Hongjoong said in confusion and Hyunjin nodded “yes… my uncle said something about my Y/n and I realized that being with him wasn’t a good idea” I looked at him with curiosity “what did he say?” Hyunjin looked nervously at his dad “he said we should find Y/n and use here as a way to get you guys to get you guys to stop being a group” I looked over at our bod who looked angry “I know my brother… if he knew you guys wanted to merge he’ll do whatever it takes to get Y/n, All of you have to protect her at all costs, especially you both” he pointed at me and Hyunjin as he said that and walked out.
Y/n pov
Me and Yunho went home with our son, Yunho wrapped his arms around me and smiled, “I’m so happy to have you back doll” I hug him back missing his touch, “when were you gonna come back, if I didn’t show up?” “I was gonna wait until he turned 1” Yunho nodded feeling at ease that she was gonna come back anyway.
i got my phone back from harin and saw dm’s from fans and that i was trending on Twitter, “what happened when i was gone?” “Well, uhhhh… harin had your account and everyone found out that it wasn’t you almost immediately since he was using your old pictures to cover it but he never put the emoji you always put which made fans think you were missing” I nodded not being surprised since my fans are smart, I decided to post on insta saying that I’m back.

had the day off so I popped out another one for you :)
The Veiled Law of Affection-Chapter 6
Word Count: 6358
Casey Novak x Olivia Benson
by PKJ @novaksupremacy
Based on the events surrounding S5 E24 "Poison", little bit of smut, lots of mushy angsty schtuff, sibling arguments, one of my favorite Casey episodes.
Read Part 5
“Look you’re making a mistake!” The woman shouted in the interrogation room. As it stood, she was accused of poisoning her adopted daughter. They had learned from her other little girl that she made the poor child stand in the corner with a sponge full of detergent in her mouth. As if that wasn’t bad enough the girl’s hospital visit was delayed by hours, causing sever detriment from the poisoning. Her husband’s sister had also spoken to Benson and Stabler about the many red flags pertaining to her parenting skills.
“Not according to your sister-in-law,” Olivia barked.
The woman scoffed, “Wendy never liked me you can’t listen to her!”
Elliot raised his voice, “Can we listen to your other daughter, Katie, Mrs. Campbell?”
Her attorney Gates laughed, “Sure, because seven-year-olds are so reliable. Tomorrow, she’ll tell you a pony with wings lives in her closet.”
Stabler was fuming at this point, “So Katie made the whole thing up, right? How you shoved a sponge of soapy water into Alexis’ mouth while she gagged and cried! Made her stand in a corner, counting, until she collapsed!”
“I feel terrible that I wasn’t paying close enough attention!” Karen Campbell started shouting, “But I can’t possibly be everywhere at once! I have FOUR children! I am a good mother!
Munch and Fin had Mr. Campbell in the other interrogation room at the same time.
“Why don’t you believe me?” the man leaned against the window, arms folded.
“We do, that’s why you’re not under arrest Munch said flatly.
“My wife did nothing wrong!”
“You couldn’t know what your wife did. You were gone all day.” Fin said more questioning than matter of fact.
“I told you when I got home Alexis had stopped breathing and Karen was hysterical. If we wanted to poison Alexis, what would we bring her to the hospital at all?”
John snapped at him, “Actually I’m more interested in why your wife does the things she does. Like berate and emotionally abuse your adopted daughter.”
“That’s a lie!”
“You callin’ your sister a liar? She says Karen treats that girl worse than a dog!” Fin retorted.
As Liv and Elliot came out of the interrogation room, they found Agent Huang and Casey waiting for them in the bullpen.
“The emergency room said they pumped two cups of detergent out of Alexis’ stomach.” Huang stated as they walked up.
Elliot shook his head in disgust, “Mrs. Campbells accident story is a bunch of crap! No kid is gonna drink two cups of that stuff willingly.”
“What about the dear old dad?” Liv interjected. “He had to know that his wife hated that kid.”
Casey sighed, “he wasn’t home so criminally he’s not responsible.”
“We got the mother right?” Elliot asked, agitated by the situation.
“How’s the seven-year-old?” The redhead questioned, she knew Elliot was good at his job, but she still had to do hers.
                “Solid.”
“No chance you influenced her statement?” She didn’t want to ask but she had to.
“None, counselor. I’ve been doing this a little bit longer than you,” the detective said back his tone less then amiable.
Casey tilted her head, she hated that El took things so personally. “Just making sure we’re covered, children under nine aren’t automatically swearable.”
“I can talk to her,” Huang offered, “If she knows the difference between a lie and the truth then she can testify.” Casey nodded as a show of gratitude.
“Hey Detective Benson, while you’re waiting, I have some paperwork for you in my office that I’ve been meaning to give you.” Casey tossed out nonchalantly.
“Sure, I’ve got a few minutes.” Liv nodded, her hands in her pockets. “After you Counselor.”
The brunette tailed on the heels of the ADA as they headed down the hall. Huang couldn’t help but snicker as they walked away. “It’s ridiculous that they’re still making excuses at this point. We pretty much all know what that was about.”
“Guess Daddy wants a little midnight snack, you know what I’m sayin’?” Fin nudged the FBI agent in his rib.
Elliot snorted into his coffee, “What?” He laughed so hard he choked on some of the hot liquid. “Who wants a what?”
Fin was laughing “Oh you haven’t had the pleasure of hearing that exchange yet? Imma let you experience that on ya own.”
Munch walked over with a cup of coffee in his hand, “What, what’s so funny what did I miss?” Everyone just shook their heads and assure him it was nothing. “You know this doesn’t make me believe in the conspiracy that everyone’s working against me, any less. If anything, you, you’re just adding fuel to the fire.”
Casey shut the door to her office and locked it, closing the blinds tight.
Liv rubbed her eyes, “Case, I gotta tell you baby, I’m exhausted.”
“I know,” Casey kissed her gently and rubbed her shoulders then steered the detective towards the couch. “I figured my couch was more comfortable than the crib.” She kicked off her heeled boots and made room for Liv to come join her. “Plus, this way I get to hold you, and the door is locked so you won’t get startled.”
Liv crawled over her girlfriend and wedged herself between her and the back of the couch, wrapping her arm and leg around her, squeezing tight. She was exhausted, they had been up since the night before with this case, but Captain wasn’t letting anyone go home until they made some headway on this. Casey reached over the brunette and pulled the blanket down off the back of the couch and covered them with it. She laid soft strokes up and down Liv’s arm with the tips of fingers and pressed her lips to her forehead and held them there for a moment before she kissed lightly and then pressed her cheek against the side of the detectives head and pulled her close. She could feel Liv’s breathing shift indicating that she had fallen asleep. The attorney watched her girlfriend’s chest rise and fall, she looked so peaceful.
“I love you, Olivia.” Casey whispered and kissed her head again. “I wish I could tell you.” Every second spent with Olivia was the happiest moment of her life, even when it wasn’t. Even when it was sad, or upsetting, or the case was spiraling out of control, all she had to do was look at Liv and feel at ease. That was the first time she ever said it out loud, not that her lover heard her. She wouldn’t dare say it then. Everything was going so good, she didn’t want to fuck it up. She dozed off alongside the brunette detective.
Casey stirred about an hour later to Liv kissing her neck. She grinned and stretched, giving the detective more access to her neck. “Mmm I should let you nap in my office more often.”
“Mmm, yes, very refreshing. Better than a cup of coffee.” The brunette smiled as she planted a long tender kiss on her girlfriend.
Casey brought her hand up to cup Liv’s face and deepened the kiss. She let out a sigh as she felt the detective slip her hand down below her waistline. “Babe.” A smile that could only be described as one of pleasure creeped across her face, “we can’t.” The redhead let out another soft sigh and a light moan as Liv continued to tease her. She grabbed her lover’s wrist and looked her square in the eye, “I need you to either fuck me right now or stop what you’re doing.”
“Gladly,” the detective hummed and pulled the ADA underneath her.
Casey sat up on couch and slid her boots back on as she watched Olivia tighten her belt and adjust her watch.
“What?” Liv looked up as she was fastening her sleeve buttons, “Did I miss a belt loop or something?” She looked down.
The younger woman shook her head, her cheeks getting red, even still Liv gave her butterflies. “No,” she said breathlessly, “you’re just beautiful.”
The brunette leaned over Casey on the couch and kissed her, biting her lip softly before pulling back to meet her gaze, “You’ve pretty stunning yourself, Counselor.” She lingered for a minute before heading towards the door, looking back at her girlfriend one last time before turning the handle. The detective continued to fumble with the buttons on her shirt as she walked out almost walking straight into Munch.
“Olivia,” the startled detective smiled, “what happened spilled something on your shirt?”
Realizing she was still half unbuttoned pulled her shirt closed with her fist, “Uhm yea, something like that. I got it out though.” Liv shifted nervously, “Going see Casey? I gotta get back to work.” She motioned the thumb of her free hand back towards her desk.
“Be careful, Detective. The coffee machine’s on the fritz and looks like your shirt can’t take another hit.” He called out, pointing with the folder in his hand as Liv kept walking. He knocked on the ADAs door.
“Come in,” Casey called out, “Hey John!” she smiled as he walked through the door, “what’ve you got?”
“Hey Casey, I just have Huang’s report for you to file before you go to the judge.” Munch walked forward and handed her the file. “Ouch, counselor I don’t think the vanity is worth it. Besides your hair looks nice curly. Platonically speaking of course—you’re not my type.” He straightened his tie.
The redhead looked at him baffled, “John, I’m not following.” She chuckled. “Did you break into the evidence locker?”
“Oh,” he waved his hand at her and then motioned to his own neck, “the burn, from your straightener. Looks like it hurts.”
Casey clasped her hand over her neck and leaned on her elbow. “Huh, yeah, well you know. Lack of sleep.” She chuckled nervously.
“Do me a favor, don’t operate any heavy machinery.” Munch gave a mock salute and walked out.
“I deserved that,” Casey muttered under her breath after he left, “payback is a girlfriend with a hickey.”
*******
“Their seven-year-old daughter? That sounds a bit imprudent.” Judge Taft said as Casey and Gates followed him down the hall.
“Rittenhouse v. North Hempstead found a three-year-old wasn’t automatically presumed incompetent to testify.” Casey argued.
“Ah, but you’re in my court now.” Taft’s voice dripping with self-importance.
“And another case disqualified a seven-year-old witness. It’s completely subjective.” Quipped Gates.
“Which is why,” Casey was growing impatient, “a psychiatrist examined Katie Campbell and that she understands her duty to tell the truth.”
“I’m sure the people won't mind if I determine that myself.” Taft stated, his grin was sickening.
“That’s not necessary Your Honor.” The ADA shook her head, assuring her the proper procedure had been followed.
“But again, it’s in my court.”
*******
Olivia stood over the stove stirring the cast iron while Casey stood at the counter furiously chopping up a bell pepper.
“And then, THEN,” she was practically slamming the knife against the cutting board, “he told me that I needed to dress appropriately.” She stopped chopping and turned towards her girlfriend.
Liv stopped stirring and turned to look at her girlfriend up and down. “What do you mean appropriately? That suit is perfectly tailored?”
He said, “By appropriately, I mean in a skirt.” She was swinging her chopping hand as she spoke.
“Woah, woah, why don’t we put that down.” She carefully clasped the redhead’s wrist between her hands and slid the knife away from Casey as if she were disarming a suspect.
“Sorry, that’s probably best. I might hurt myself, you know like how I burned myself with my straightener this morning?” her tone shifted to mockingly accusatory and flipped her hair away from her shoulder.
The brunette gasped, “Jesus baby I’m sorry! I didn’t think it would be that bad, I was just trying to get you back for the one you gave me the day of that softball game.” She chuckled.
Casey mocked her laugh making a goofy face at her. “Hilarious babe,” she tossed a mushroom at her, “Especially when I had to have it pointed out by Munch! Who by the way is the only one still in the dark about us, totally clueless.”
The detective wrapped her arms around her girlfriend’s waist and leaned into her propping her head up on her shoulder. “I’m sorry Taft is being such a misogynist,” she tightened her hold, “You’re gonna kick ass in court.” She kissed her neck.
“Ahh, hey!” the redhead swatted playfully at her and pulled her head to the side, “You’ve done enough damage for one day, Detective.” She giggled and leaned her head back to kiss Liv enthusiastically.
*******
“Its open!” Casey called out, pouring more whiskey into her glass as Liv walked in the door.
“Swearability hearing went that badly huh?” the detective furrowed her brow, worried to find her girlfriend drinking alone on the couch.
“Worse. He basically told me I embarrassed myself and shouldn’t brag about my lack of intellect.” The redhead put the bottle down and waved her hand in its general direction, “Don’t worry I don’t plan on making a habit out of it.”
The brunette dropped the takeout down on the counter and dropped down next to Casey on the couch, “Well that’s a relief.” She motioned for Casey to swing her legs up over her. She slid the redheads boots off and dropped them to the floor. “Still, I’m sorry that he’s being such an ass.” Liv started to massage the counselor’s feet. “Elliot told me he’s gotta testify that he didn’t coerce her.”
The ADA took a swig of her drink and threw her head back, “Uggh Liv, why are you so good at that?”
The brunette grinned, “I’m just, good with my hands.”
Casey quirked her brow, letting out a low moan, “Mmm, that you are Detective, that you are.” She opened one eye to look at her girlfriend who was looking at her adoringly, “I see the way you’re looking at me.” She closed her eyes again.
“Oh yeah and how’s that?” Liv chuckled, continuing to massage, working out a particularly difficult knot.
The redhead smacked the couch and let out a moan, “Ohhhh, G-d that feels good. You’re spoiling me.” She peaked her eye open again, “And you’re looking at me the way you look at a container of honey chicken, hungry.”
“Is that so?” The brunette smirked, “I mean cause I have honey chicken over there on the counter…”
“You could have me on the counter,” Casey bit her lip.
“Why would I do that,” Liv paused, the ADA picked her head up, the brunette was waiting for her shocked reaction before continuing, “when I can have you right here on the sofa.” She got a good grip on her thighs and pulled Casey down the couch to her.
Casey squealed, “Babe, my drink!” she quickly dropped the glass to the coffee table, laughing. The detective was already pulling the attorney’s jeans down around her ankles and tossing them in the corner next to a pile of law journals.
The brunette pulled Casey up to her to kiss her longingly, she could taste the whiskey on her tongue mixed with desire. The redhead moaned and then broke the kiss to catch her breath. “You kill me detective,” her eyes glistened, staring into Liv’s. She pressed a light kiss to her lips, “little deaths.” She sighed. She kissed her hard, running her fingers down the side of the brunette’s face. She allowed herself to fall back onto the couch pulling the cop down on top her, unbuttoning Liv’s shirt button by button.
*******
Elliot sat in the witness box during the Hudy hearing ordered by Judge Taft. He swore that there was no influence on Katie’s statement and that the girl introduced her mother to the conversation without any prompting. Gates accused him of having a vendetta against Karen Campbell for comments taken out context. Upon stepping down from the witness box, Elliot started to walk away as Taft went ahead and ruled the testimony inadmissible.
“This is a joke,” Elliot scoffed as he headed towards the back of the courtroom.
“I beg your pardon, Detective Stabler,” Taft asked sternly?
“I said this is a joke!” The detective turned back towards the judge.
“You’d be wise to remember no one cares what you think, once you leave that box.” Taft’s words fell pointedly.
“That interview wasn’t suggestive,” Elliot muttered walking back towards the bench.
“Elliot, stop.” Casey raised her voice.
He continued, “You’re just one of these judges that think cops strong arm witnesses just to make a case. What you think I just bullied a seven-year-old into lying?” He turned to walk away again.
“Elliot, leave!” Casey commanded, she was trying to protect him and not blow her case at the same time.
“No Elliot stay,” Taft scoffed, “You’re in contempt.”
Casey went down to the holding cells to check on her friend, “You alright?”
“Yeah great, thanks for getting me a couple hours off.” He said sarcastically.
The redhead laughed incredulously, “You are not blaming this on me.”
“Well, you did let that defense attorney trash me pretty good in court.”
The ADA threw her hand up in protest, “Yeah and that stunt you pulled. That’s gonna ensure Taft screws me at trial but hey at least you still have your ego, right?”
“You bail me out to talk about my ego?” the detective quipped back at her.
“I did not get you out of there!” Casey rolled her eyes.
“I called in a favor,” Mary Clark stared at the two of them, arms folded, “The contempt citation is withdrawn. So, if you could possibly stop acting like a petulant child.” She turned her attention to the young attorney, “And you, you need to start playing nice with Oliver Taft.”
Stabler looked back at Casey, “And you’re worried about my ego. This guy abuses his power and gets away with it.”
Mary cut him off, “You didn’t help anybody by mouthing off to the trial judge.” She looked back at her protégé, “This isn’t law school Casey, pick your battles. Winning is more important than wearing a skirt.”
*******
Liv and Casey were lying in bed, the redhead snuggled up in the detective’s arms, staring out into space. The brunette stroked her back, “I can’t believe you asked Taft to recuse himself.”
“I really fucked myself this time I think.” The anxiety in Casey’s voice was clear. “Why did I do that?”
“Baby, you did it because you knew it was the right thing. That judge is never going to be impartial and was never going to get justice for that little girl.”
“He still won’t,” Casey sat up, crossing her legs, and facing her girlfriend. “All I’ve done is ensure that he hates me and will do everything to make sure that I have a hard time prosecuting this case.”
                “What did Mary say?”
The redhead sighed, “She said I was insane for asking an ego maniac to recuse himself and all I did was make myself an enemy.”
“What are you gonna do?” Liv followed suit and sat up, taking the ADAs hand to comfort her, “It’s not like you can get him thrown off the bench.”
                “Maybe I can…”
******
Elliot chased Casey down as she headed to court, “Hey I think I’ve got something that even Taft can’t ignore.”
She furrowed her brow at him, “What is it?”
“The records from the adoption agency the Campbells used. They tried to give Alexis back.”
The redhead nearly fell out, “What? When?”
“February of this year, only 6 months after her adoption. Wouldn’t hurt her my ass, that’s such bull.”
The ADA smirked knowing Elliot may have found her a smoking gun.
*****
It was no use even with the mountain of evidence, Taft’s bias completely controlled the courtroom as he acquitted Karen Campbell. Casey felt so defeated as she walked out of the courthouse, if it was a fair fight, maybe she would’ve felt better about losing. She walked over to Elliot.
“I’m sorry,” she frowned and tapped him with her briefcase.
“Don’t be, I know you went to the mat on this one. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out.” His hands shoved deep into the pockets of his trench coat.
“I want Taft off the bench.” She looked Elliot square in the eye.
Elliot ran his hand down her arm, “and I want a ’65 stingray.” He said consolingly.
“I’m serious,” she said as the detective had turned to walk away, “I’m going after him.”
“Casey,” he exhaled, “It’s not worth it, what good does it do, to kill your career?”
“If this is justice, I don’t want this career.”
The detective looked at her concerned, “I’m just worried about you putting yourself in a bad position, I’d hate to see you get dragged down because of this bastard.” He grinned, “Besides who’s going to play softball with me when they fire your ass.” He punched her arm playfully.
*****
Liv was zoned out at her desk working on DD-5s, the background noise of Munch spewing conspiracies at Fin and Cragen practically lulling her to sleep. She was nodding off halfway through a sentence when she felt a presence next to her desk, “Elliot for the last time I do not want a dirty water dog for lunch today.”
“I’m not gonna ask why Elliot has asked you that more than once today.” Casey joked.
The detective’s ears perked up and she leaned her head to the side, looking at the tall, gorgeous litigator leaning up against her desk. “Hey Da—DA Novak. ADA Casey. Hey Casey, what’s up?” Liv was about twenty shades of blushing after almost letting that nickname slip at the office.
Casey leaned down, cleared her throat, and lowered her voice, “Daddy needs a favor.”
“What’s wrong, Case?” She could tell there was a sense of urgency in her girlfriend’s voice.
“I need you to help me talk to Cragen about reopening the Rosalind Silvo case. I know in my bones that there was bias on Judge Taft’s part and there was evidence to prove she was innocent…” the redhead pleaded.
“…But Taft wouldn’t pay for the test.”
“Exactly! If I can get Cragen to reopen the case, the DA’s office doesn’t have to go through the same channels, I can get permission to exhume the body, clear Silvo, and screw Taft to the wall.” Casey rambled, having to take a deep breath when she finally stopped speaking.
“Well, I would like to hope I’m the only person you’re screwing against the wall but let me see the case notes and then we can go talk to him together.” Olivia chuckled, waving her hand for Casey to show her the files.
Liv filled Elliot in and then the three of them brought it to Cragen’s attention, “Casey I’d love to help get an innocent woman out of prison, but I don’t have the manpower to fuel a vendetta.”
“Its not really that much work boss, I think we got it covered,”
Cragen shot him a look, “Well thank you for being such a real helper, Elliot.”
Casey pleaded, hoping her puppy eyes would work on Cragen the way they work on Liv and Elliot, “It’s two interviews, if nothing pans out, I swear I’ll drop it.”
*****
Liv walked out of the coffee shop and handed one to her girlfriend who was waiting for her on the sidewalk.
“Thanks. It was a little too crowded in there for me.” Casey reached over and interlinked her fingers with the brunette’s. Her hand was a shaking, not something she’d attempted to do in public before.
The detective tensed up, “Casey, what if someone sees us?”
“I’m not ashamed,” she stopped and pulled the brunette’s hand turning her to face her. “I’m proud to say I’m with you, Olivia Benson.”
Any fear Liv had at this point was washed away with Casey’s words and the adorable little dimples the redhead got when she smiled. She squeezed the attorney’s hand tighter and pulled her in close. “And I am all yours, Counselor. I wasn’t trying to hide you, I just want to keep you safe.”
Casey smirked and leaned in to kiss the brunette, “Maybe you’ve forgotten how good I am with a bat.” She turned and started to walk again, holding her girlfriend’s hand tight with one hand, and sipping her coffee with the other.
“You go talk to Mary, I’ll hang back here. I’m gonna check in with the house.” Liv stated as they got closer to the judge’s apartment. Casey nodded and started to walk away, the brunette pulling her back and into a quick kiss before letting her go. She wasn’t going to feel ashamed to show anyone how much Casey meant to her anymore. She watched as the redhead walked down the block and couldn’t help but stare at how good she looked in that outfit, how her hips swayed back and forth. She chewed on her lip and was startled by the phone ringing.
“Benson. Hey El I was just about to check in. Yeah, I’m good, I’m just waiting for Casey, she’s talking with Judge Clark.”
Judge Clark walked out of her apartment just to find Casey waiting for her. “I don’t know how I can be more clear,” she was sympathetic but not up for taking on Taft.
The ADA smirked, “Rosalin Silvo is innocent, here’s the M.E. report.” She handed Mary the file Olivia had gotten from Warner. “Taft let his bias run that courtroom, same crap he always does but this time, he stole a woman’s life.”
Mary scanned the report, her face dropped, and she looked up at Casey, “That son of a bitch. He’s an embarrassment to the bench.”
“I’ll worry about him as soon as I get Rosalin Silvo out of jail.”
*****
After hearing the evidence Judge Preston spoke, “I have to agree with counsel, the only possible remedy is to vacate Ms. Silvo’s conviction. We’re adjourned.” She stated with the bang of her gavel.
Rosalin, with tears of joy in her eyes, hugged Mary, and Casey, thanking them before hugging her other child tightly. The ADA and Judge Clark gathered up their things and headed for the door as Taft approached them.
“Well Judge Clark its good to see you haven’t lost sight of your humble beginnings as a legal aid attorney. Ms. Novak, are you going to be coming through all the decisions I’ve made.” He scoffed.
“That depends,” she started, “how many other defendant’s have you falsely convicted?”
“History is full of mistakes Ms. Novak, even your short history.” His tone was aggressive.
Mary stepped in between him and Casey. “You’re not threatening her, are you? Some people might consider that conduct unbecoming of an officer of the court. You can’t bully your way out of this Oliver.” She gave him a smug look knowing she could tear him down in an instant.
Casey did her best to hide her enjoyment of this exchange when her cellphone rang. “Casey Novak.” Her heart sank, “Oh G-d.”
*****
The ADA ran up to the scene as she approached the Campbell household. She stopped at the stairs as she saw the small body being carried out, covered in a white sheet. “Why wasn’t she in the hospital?” she demanded, her voice raw with emotion as her eyes met Elliot, who was exiting the building.
“Released.” He walked towards her, “Parent’s didn’t want her in a nursing home. The aunt dropped by, found Alexis in her bed already dead.” He paused for a second, “Casey,” he took a deep breath, “Karen was the only one home.”
“She finished the job.” Casey muttered as Olivia emerged from the doorway with Karen Campbell in cuffs, she was reading her, her Miranda rights as they walked past.
*****
“Hey, you okay?” Casey was leaning against the door of the call room.
“Hey babe, I’m fine. Is her lawyer here?” Liv lifted her head up.
“No, no not yet it’s okay lay back down.” The redhead walked over and laid down on the cot next to the detective. She pulled Liv’s arm tight around her.
“Baby, you okay?” Liv mumbled into Casey’s back. She was met with silent sobs causing Casey’s body to shake against her. The brunette lifted her head up, “Baby what is it?”
“This is my fault.”
“How could you possibly…”
“I should’ve fought harder to get Taft thrown off the case, off the bench, something! I should’ve done more.”
“Case, you are only one assistant district attorney, and while you are wonderful and gorgeous and intelligent, not to mention compassionate beyond rivaling— you are only one human being.”
Elliot rapped on the doorframe, “Hey guys, Gates is here, showtime.”
Casey wiped her tears and stood up straighten out her blazer and the three of them headed down to the interrogation room.
“What happened,” Elliot sat down and opened his notepad, “You miss us?”
“You can’t charge my client with murder for a crime she was already acquitted of.” Gates spouted, demanding the release of the client.
“Unless we’re talking about two separate acts, which we are. Right Karen?” Olivia stated closing the door behind her. “Alexis was suffocated, the poisoning had nothing to do with her death.”
Casey studied Gates face, he had no idea what his client had done. He was as shocked as they were.
“I didn’t want to bring her home. Pete insisted. She wouldn’t stop crying, I just wanted her to stop. It wasn’t my fault!
“What you gonna claim it was an accident again?” Elliot clapped back at her.
“No! The judge said I should do it.”
Casey tilted her head, “What Judge?”
“Judge Taft.” The ADA shot a look at Gates as Karen continued, “He said Alexis was too sick and I had other children to think about. He said we would all be better off if Alexis just died.”
Olivia looked at her girlfriend in disbelief.
“When did he say this to you?” the redhead pressed.
“The other day in court right before I testified.”
Gates jumped up, “Interview is over, everyone out.”
“What the hell was Taft doing talking to her anyway?” Elliot asked.
“Hanging himself,” Casey scoffed. “The bastard’s done now.”
“Doesn’t that nullify her acquittal,” Liv jumped in.
The redhead nodded, “Sure does not that it matters, we’ve got her on homicide.”
A few minutes later he met the ADA and the detectives outside the interview. “I just want you to know I had no knowledge of this ex-parte or as an officer of the court I would’ve been duty bound to tell you immediately.”
“What did he say?” Casey demanded.
“Apparently, he saw her crying and told her to think of her other kids and maybe they would be better off if Alexis died anyway and then he advised her to get psychiatric help so that this kind of thing wouldn’t happen again. Which I think is a fine idea.”
“Book her and go pick up Taft,” Casey stated as she gathered her things.
“On what grounds,” Cragen questioned.
“Criminal Facilitation Two. He told her to get a shrink which means he knew this was no accident and acquitting her gave her the means and opportunity to commit a Class A felony.”
“He has judicial immunity Casey,” Cragen spoke softly.
“He smoked his judicial immunity the minute he had an ex parte communication with the defendant.” The redhead said as she stormed out of the precinct.
*****
“I don’t think I’ve every been this nervous.” Casey said checking over her appearance in the mirror. “I cannot lose this case.”
Liv came up behind her and kissed her neck, “You’re gonna do great baby. C’mon,” she turned her around and straightened the lapel of her jacket, “Everyone knows my Daddy has the best conviction rate in town, and she isn’t scared of anyone, definitely not some old man named Oliver Taft.” She pulled her collar tight and kissed the redhead. “I know you’re already dressed but I think I know how to calm you down.”  She smiled slyly.
“Mmm, do you now?” Casey raised her brow and bit her lip.
Liv nodded, sliding the redhead’s suit jacket off and placing it on the counter, “Mhmm yeah. Watch.” she said sliding her tongue into her mouth.
The attorney enthralled in the kiss grabbed for her girlfriend’s belt buckle fumbling to get it undone and get Liv’s fly down. She slid her hand down into the brunette’s waistband as her lover had moved on to kissing down her pulse points. Casey felt how wet Olivia already was and let out a sultry giggle, “Mmm, I’m starting to think I just keep you like this twenty-four/seven. Let Daddy fix it.” She moaned sliding a finger in and pressing her palm to Liv’s clit.
The detective fumbled with Casey’s suit pants as she let out little whimpers which Casey swallowed, kissing her hard. Finally getting them undone, the attorney used her freehand to grab her girlfriends wrist and pull it to her, sliding it down into her boxers. Liv glided two fingers into Casey’s soaked center and thrust her back against the counter.
The ADA threw her head back, “Oh god Olivia! Fuck” she slipped another finger into the detective. The two of them mewling and whimpering as they continued toying with each other’s g-spots. They knew each other’s body’s like clockwork, enough to make it last for hours or make the other cum instantly. Their breath hitching and growing ragged they both knew what was coming next and let go, collapsing against each other and back against the counter.
Casey held Liv’s head against her shoulder and kissed her temple, both of them out of breath. “You make the prettiest noises when I fuck you.”
******
As they arrived at the courthouse Casey was much more relaxed. She was hurriedly headed towards the courtroom when she heard someone call out to her.
“Hey Novak! Catch.” She turned around to see Elliot lob something in her direction. She caught it one handed and looked at it.
“What’s this for?” she said quizzingly.
“It’s cologne Case, you smell like sex. Keep it,” he headed in, “Knock em dead!”
As the trial proceeded the prosecution called Taft as their first witness.
“Is that why you spoke to Karen during her trial, because you thought she was innocent.” The ADA asked casually.
Taft paused for a second and took a deep breath, “I admit the conversation was ill-advised. We were in the same elevator, she was distraught. I allowed my empathy to overrule my intellect.” Elliot rolled his eyes from the gallery as Taft spoke.
“Did it every occur to you that Karen Campbell might be responsible for her daughters condition?” Casey continued.
“I must object, Your Honor.” Taft argued.
“You felt sorry for the defendant, so you must’ve already decided she was innocent even though the trial had not concluded yet.”
“I had formed no opinion,” Taft retorted, “as you just said the trial had not yet concluded.”
“I know,” the redhead swung her hand as she walked over to the jury box. “Which is why it was so strange that you were talking to her. Why did you tell the defendant to quote seek psychiatric help, so this tragedy doesn’t occur again.”
“She was upset,” the judge answered.
“Because it sounds like you really did think she poisoned her daughter.” Casey was getting louder, more adamant in how she spoke.
“It was a mistake, is that what you want me to say Ms. Novak? One mistake in almost three decades?”
Casey sneered, “Didn’t you make an arguably bigger mistake? When you wrongfully convicted Rosalin Silvo of murdering her daughter and sent her to prison for ten years?” The ADA was shouting at this point.
“That is completely immaterial,” The Judge argued.
The redhead stepped to him, “You can’t object Judge Taft.”
“But I can Ms. Novak,” Judge Bradley warned.
“Did you tell Karen Campbell to suffocate her daughter?” Casey walked back towards the jury.
                “No.”
“But you talked to her even though it was clearly improper,”
                “It was a mistake!”
“You don’t make mistakes, you make judgements, who’s innocent, who’s guilty. You saw Rosalin Silvo and she was a whore. That means she’s a bad mother. And then you saw Karen Campbell. Why did you talk to her Judge?” Casey was furious at this point.
“Your Honor!?” Taft turned towards Judge Bradley.
“Why talk to her? Why talk to Karen Campbell?” the young fiery attorney pressed as Taft stood up in the witness box. “Why talk to a woman who tried to murder her daughter?”
“I didn’t know!”
“Didn’t know what?” Casey shouted, “That she’d turn around and try to do it again.”
“I THOUGHT THEY WERE GOOD PEOPLE” Taft bellowed at Casey.
Judge Bradley banged his gavel, “That’s enough!”
“Nothing further,” the redhead’s lip curled as she walked away.
It didn’t take the Jury long to come back with a guilty verdict. The press was outside waiting for Taft as both Elliot and Casey watched satisfied from afar. He had been demoted before he even left the courtroom. The detective nudged the ADA, “You did good Case.” She nudged him back and smiled.
*****
“It’s open,” Casey said as she heard her girlfriend approach the door. She was sitting at the counter. “Hey beautiful.”
Liv walked over and planted a longing kiss on the redhead.
“Mmm,” Casey couldn’t help but smile at the brunette’s touch. “I have something for you.”
“You do?” The detective asked, “What is it? Something sexy?”
Casey giggled, “I hope you think so.” She looked up at Liv, “so you know how you always say how unsafe it is for me to leave my door unlocked when waiting for you? I think I’ve found a solution.” She slid her hand across the counter towards her girlfriend and lifted it away revealing a singular house key. “What do you think?”

If Im There: Chapter Five
Tumblr media
read from part one
Noah x OFC Natalie
Warnings : none! Just family drama and Noah being the BEST BOYFRIEND!
Also! while Noah is based on a real person this is a work of fiction and I just made most of this up in my brain! Also I finished this with out my beta reader so it’s edited only by me! if you see a typo, no you didn’t.

“What are you doing here Dad?” I’m shocked to see him after all this time, it's been four years since he just left.
“Well Jelly, your mom called and told me about what's been going on and asked me to come and talk to you and your brother” he stands from the couch and moves closer to me at the front of the door.
“What exactly did mom tell you?” I ask, looking towards my mom who's staring at the floor.
“She told me that you and your brother have been fighting, that you didn't even spend the weekend here. You were with some boy? That doesn't sound like you at all Jelly Bean”
My mind races trying to decide what to address first.
“Kyle and I weren't fighting dad, he attacked me. Twice. Last time with his hands around my throat so tight I thought he was killing me. We’re siblings, yelling at each other should be normal, but him slapping me? him throwing me to the ground choking me out? That’s insane! And I wasn't spending the night with just some boy. Noah is my boyfriend, and he was there for me after Kyle attacked me, not that I feel the need to explain myself to you.” There is an unmasked anger in my voice.
“Why do you think you just get to show up after all this time and reprise your role? You left us, Dad, you have no right to stand here and question me.”
“Jelly-”
“And stop calling me that.” I bristle “It's Natalie, I'm not your little Jelly Bean anymore”
Kyle snickers under his breath and whispers “Yeah, I'm sure Noah made sure of that this weekend”
I balk at his crude remark. “You’re a pig, Kyle.” He is such an asshole.
“Noah didn't do anything to me this weekend aside from get me the hell away from you”
“This isn't about this Noah boy” my dad speaks up. “This is about the two of you getting along”
“I don't understand how I'm getting lumped into this.” I feel like I'm losing my mind.
“I'm in trouble because Kyle hit me? Choked me?”
“You're not in trouble sweetie” my mom finally says something “I called your dad because I thought he could help your brother.”
“How are you planning on helping him?”
They tell me that they've decided since there's only a few weeks left of the school Kyle will take his finals early and leave with our dad to work with him at his construction company for the summer. Dad hopes the physical labor will help with his aggression, and give him an outlet for his anger or something.
“You both turn 18 in a few weeks so it's good timing. He'll be 18 once his training is finished so it's all legit.” My dad reasons but mostly with himself because I genuinely don't care, seems like our parents are doing what they do best and sweeping things under the rug. Dad gets cheap labor for his job site and mom will go back on the night shift and pretend I don't need a mom.
“So when are you leaving?” I ask.
“We need a few days to work everything out with the school, but we plan to leave Thursday morning,” Dad informs me.
“What do you think about all of this?” I finally addressed Kyle.
He pauses and thinks for a minute. “ I’m fine with it, I feel like I have no control over my emotions. It's like one second I'm fine and the next I don't know what happened and I'm holding my sister to the ground. I feel sick about it.” he looks like my brother again. “I’ll go with Dad and work and I'll do the therapy once a week while I'm there.” He's looking at me and noticing the fading marks on my neck from last week. “It kills me that I hurt you sissy, I don't want to be this person.”
We sit in the living room and chat awkwardly for a few more minutes before I excuse myself.
“I really should go study for my finals.” I stand up and tell them. My dad approaches to hug me, I freeze but my hands return to wrap around him. “Okay, sweetie. I love you” he tells me and I turn to head up the stairs towards my room.
Seeing my dad for the first time in so long is shocking, but, if I'm honest with myself I'm almost numb to all the shit with my family lately. I just don't have enough space in me anymore for any of this.
Once I'm upstairs in my room I immediately text Noah everything.
Noah: what? the. fuck. 5:30
Noah: are you okay? that's a lot to happen on top of everything else. 5:30
Natalie: honestly. I don't know what to feel. 5:32
Natalie: he just shows up after all of this time, and we just become a happy family again? One family meeting and all is forgiven? And he's just taking Kyle? I guess it's probably best for both of us to be away from each other it's just…I don't know. 5:32
Natalie: He drops everything to come to take Kyle away, doesn't even mention the attacks. What is that? Ugh so fucking frustrating. 5:32
Natalie: Trying to think of pros…a summer with no Kyle, a birthday I don't have to share with Kyle, you could actually hang out at my house if he's not here. 5:33
Natalie: maybe it's not all bad. 5:34
Natalie: okay. Wow. I even ramble in text. 5:34
Noah: I think it's cute when you ramble, even in text. 5:36
Noah: I'm so sorry you're dealing with all of this Natty, I can't imagine what it feels like to have your dad just show back up again. Do you need anything? 5:37
Noah: Also, when's your birthday? Honestly pissed at myself for not already having this precious information filed away. 5:37
Natalie: thank you, Noah, I'm okay, I just want to study and blast music in my ears until all I can think about is world history and all the bones in the human body. And then I have to finish my art final project. 5:38
Natalie: my birthday is May 20! Taurus :) 5:39
Noah: ugh I love it when you talk nerdy. 5:41
Noah: OMG! That's so soon! Okay. Filed away and saved foreverrr, keep the day free because we are going out. 5:43
Natalie: deal ;D now I should really study, these finals are going to suuuuck. 5:45
Noah: Okay smarty, good luck studying, I'm trying to perfect this chord progression and then I will have created the best song ever XD. 5:47
Natalie: can't wait to hear it! <3 5:47
I place my phone on the charger and hit play on my CD player and the CD Noah got me started playing at a medium volume, filling my room with the sound of “The Comedown” by Bring Me The Horizon.
Thursday is here before I blink and just like that Kyle is packing and leaving with my dad. He awkwardly hugs me before leaving, which I halfway return. My mom goes back to the night shift the next day.
Noah and I hung out again that weekend. I'm mostly studying and he's writing music but it's perfect. I finally finished my art project, a painted portrait of a young brown-haired girl on her knees crying softly on the floor of a broken home. “Wow, Natty. This is amazing, it's so emotional” Noah says as he examines the artwork “You are so talented” he whispers to me.
We hang out from Saturday morning until almost midnight when he begrudgingly leaves but not after kissing me senseless on my bed. Waiting becomes less important when I feel his hands softly caressing my body, the way he squeezes my sides and holds me closer if a quiet mewl escapes my mouth. Soon, definitely, soon, I think to myself.
We spend the rest of the school year like that, hanging out at my house or Noah's, usually with Nick. They’ll write songs, I'll study or Nick and I will spend hours drawing weird things we make up. Life feels perfect for this time. I have an amazing boyfriend and friends.
Finals begin and end quickly, I pass with high marks and Noah celebrates my grades by gifting me a new Bring Me The Horizon shirt. “To add to the band shirt collection”
The day after school's out for summer I wake up to my phone buzzing, reaching over I answer it half asleep.
“Hello?” I mumble.
“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Nattyyy, happy birthday to you!” Noah's voice blares through my speakers and forces me further awake but with a large smile breaking across my face. “How's my girl feeling? Like an adult? Do you feel the sudden need to vote for something? Or permanently alter your skin?” Noah rapid fire questions at me, I’ve not known him to be a morning person but he's full of energy today.
I laugh softly, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. “Thank you Noah, beautiful rendition.” I laugh.
“Hmmmm…no sudden urge to vote but I might not be totally adverse to a small something tattooed, gotta try to keep up with my boyfriend, he's got a few already.” A few is maybe an understatement, when Noah’s been getting tattoos since he was like 16, apparently in his music scene a lot of guys are also tattoo artists so it was pretty easy for him to get them.
“Sounds like your boyfriend is pretty cool” He jokes.
“Oh he's the coolest, really hot too” I responded.
“Wow, you know i've got a pretty hot girlfriend, hopefully they don't run into each other, he sounds exactly like her type.” he laughs. “You know, I'm actually hoping she gets ready soon so I can go pick her up and take her to a birthday breakfast and keep her to myself all day. Do you think she'd be interested in something like that?” he asks me with a cheeky tone and I melt.
“I think she'd love that” My whole life at home can crumble around me, I don't care. I have Noah and that is enough. “I can be ready in 20 minutes” I say with a grin so wide it might split my face in two.
I start getting ready and I get a text from Nick.
Nick: Happy Birthday!
Image: It's a drawing of a lady knight warrior holding the hilt of a sword that is sticking out of the head of a massive red dragon. Its captioned “Lady Natalia Flameheart: the Dragon Slayer” 8:35
Natalie: WOW! Nick!!! This is AMAZING! Thank you so much :) I’m definitely printing this out. 8:36
I finished getting ready, throwing on some jean shorts and the BMTH shirt Noah gave me, leaving my hair down and going without makeup when I heard a knock at my door. I rush downstairs and open the door, immediately being engulfed in a big bare hug, Noah wraps his arms around me tight and spins us around.
“Happy Birthday Natty girl” he says smiling widely as he places me down and bends to give me a kiss. I pull him closer, deepening the kiss until he pulls away and rests his head against mine. “Wow, im happy to see you too baby” I laugh softly and reach to hug him tightly again.
Noah takes me to a diner for breakfast and tells the waiter it's my birthday so they add sprinkles and a candle to my stack of pancakes. He sings happy birthday again before I blow out my candle. I think this is the first birthday I’ve ever celebrated where I don’t have to share candles with Kyle, I kind of liked it. I loved being a twin for so much of my life but for the last few years Kyle and I just became so drastically different. I pull out my phone and decide to text him just a simple message.
Natalie: happy birthday Kyle. 9:30
Kyle: happy birthday sissy. 9:45
After breakfast Noah takes me to the sculpture garden downtown. We walked around for a few hours, spending half the time admiring the art and the other half making out in every tucked away corner we could find. Our next stop is the deli across the street from the coffee shop we had our first date at, we order sandwiches and grab chips and drinks but Noah mentions to the cashier that it's all to go.
“To go?” I question.
He just raises his eyebrows up and down and plasters a shiteating grin on his face.
With our lunch in hand we head back to the car and Noah drives us to the park and we walk to the bench where we shared our first kiss. “I thought this would be a nice spot for lunch” he confesses innocently.
“Noah Sebastian Davis, you are something else you know?” I say as I take the seat next to him on the bench, sitting as close to him as possible. He's not just something else, I think to myself, he's everything and I think I'm in love with him. Nope, I'm definitely in love with him. Before digging into lunch I lean towards him and kiss him tenderly, trying to push all of my appreciation and affection for all he's done for me today.
“Thank you for today, you made it really special” I say against his lips.
“You’re very welcome Natty, I’m just glad I got to spend the day celebrating my favorite person.” he says back returning a quick peck before we dig into our late lunch. We sit for a while longer before Noah drives me back home
“My mom is working late tonight, we already celebrated last night so..” I paused.
“Would you want to come in and watch a movie or something?” Noah nods and heads out of his car. We head up to my room and I bring out my laptop, placing it at the foot of the bed and opening netflix. I find a random action movie and hit play. I honestly have no interest in watching a movie, only getting Noah in my bed. Sitting with his arm around me I give little attention to the computer screen in front of me, instead I turn to nuzzle into Noah's neck and leave small kisses along the columns of his throat.
“You’re the one that chose this movie Natty, you're not even watching” he chuckles.
“Are you complaining?” I ask as I lick a small stripe up to nibble on his ear and I hear his breath catch.
“No, no complaints from me” he says, voice tightening.
He rotates his head to capture my mouth in a searing kiss, quickly adding tongue and moving his hands down to grip my waist. Movie forgotten we glide down the bed in a close embrace, my hands are tangled in his hair as he strokes up and down my sides. I pull away for a second, long enough to rip my shirt off quickly.
“Natalie, what are you-” he starts as his eyes drag down to my chest.
“Noah, I'm ready. Please” I whine.”Touch me”

Word Count: 4.6k
Warnings: Vi beating people up, nervous flirting, teenage crushes, Loving someone even when they’re gone, Vi leaves Caitlyn for you, sensual sex, strap-on use
Summary: You had a crush on Vi as teens, but you’re forced to move away the night before your date. Years later, you run into each other again and feelings return.
Tumblr media
You’re perched on a balcony railing watching as a group of guys get their asses handed to them. Your older brother - Mike - was one of the guys down there. He was supposed to be at church with the rest of you, but you noticed that he would sneak out when the sermon would start. Your parents were sailors and took turns going out on ships so that one of them was always home. They attended church to pay their respects to the Goddess of the Winds, Janna, who protected all sailors from death at sea. So, you decided to follow him one morning and found out that he joined a gang. You couldn’t tell your parents until you knew which gang, because your brother knew how to lie to them and make it seem like you were the liar. And you hated that.
So, you watched with great amusement as this pink-haired girl gave him a black eye and a bloody nose. You were given the name of the gang by her when she shouted it out in anger. When you saw her approaching the group of ten guys, you got worried for her. She had clearly come looking for a fight, but you hadn’t seen any weapon in sight. Then, the fight started and you were concerned for the guys instead. She was quick with her fists and she fought with no reservation.
“Next time you assholes want to mess with my little sister, remember this.” Pink spits, before turning and walking away. You let out a squeak and scramble after her, running along the railing and sliding down a rooftop.
“Hey!” You call out, “Hey! Pink! Wait!” Your feet hit the ground as she stops and turns to you. There’s an annoyed look on her face but you didn’t care.
“What?” Pink huffs, crossing your arms.
“I wanted to say thank you. You totally just beat up my brother and gave me the chance to tell our parents he’s been lying about being in a gang.” You grin, starting to back away, “Also, you throw a wicked punch!” You call, waving at her before you turn and start sprinting home. Your parents are going to have a heart attack when they find out, and you were excited to finally see your brother get grounded.

Today was a slow day at Gretchen’s but you didn’t mind. Your family has been tight on money lately after your dad broke his leg. There was an accident and his leg got caught in the rigging. You decided to get a job to help out and Gretchen - who’s a family friend - asked you to work in her bakery. So, you jumped at the chance and were actually making decent money. Most of the time the place was packed with customers who came in for fresh bread or sweets. But, today you haven’t been seeing as many people. Normally that wouldn’t worry you, but you were hoping a specific person would come by today.
Pink. You ran into her a few times before you started working at the bakery. There was something about her that got you all flustered. Maybe because she was a really cute girl who actually talked to you? After you got the job, you found out that she was a regular along with her siblings. Gretchen told you that they came in once a week. You nearly burned yourself the first time you saw her walk in, happily chatting away with a blue-haired girl and a large smile on her face. She seemed similarly surprised when she saw you, and that’s when you learned her actual name. Violet.
That once-a-week visit eventually turned into every day. Every time she came in, you could’ve sworn that she was flirting with you! She would ask you what you recommended to try or if you had a favorite flavor or sweet. If she came in before closing, she’d playfully complain that you needed to stay open longer so she didn’t have to run here. You thought you might’ve been reading into it because you were crushing on her, but part of you hoped that you weren’t. You finally got confirmation one afternoon when Vi came in with her siblings.
The bell above the door rings announcing that someone has entered the bakery. You put up the tray of cupcakes and head to the front while your co-workers continue baking. When you get a peek at who’s at the counter, you feel your pulse pick up slightly. You take a deep breath before walking into their view, “Afternoon, guys!” You chirp, putting your hands on the countertop, “What can I get for you today?”
“Do you guys have any jelly tarts?” Powder questions, giving you puppy eyes.
“We have some ready to come out of the oven. Luckily for you, it’ll be a two-minute wait.” You wink at her, making her cheer. You look to Vi who shakes her head and motions to her brothers. Claggor asks for a bear claw pastry and Mylo grabs a few cookies. They go and sit down with Powder to wait on the jelly tarts, but Vi stays standing at the counter. ‘Why is she still standing here? Did she change her mind about ordering?’
“Did you find something you’d like?” You ask, nervously drumming your fingers on the countertop. ‘Why am I so nervous around her? I see her every day.’
“Yeah, actually. Can I get one of the strawberry brownies?” Vi points to it in the window.
“Sure thing.” You smile before opening the window and grabbing one, hesitating briefly before you put a second one in the bag. Vi raises an eyebrow when she sees you do that and you put a finger to your lips, “I’ll pay for that one.” You giggle. Vi hands you the money for the one brownie and you blush when your fingers touch. You count the money, avoiding Vi’s gaze before giving her the bag.
“Thanks.” Vi flashes a smile, nervously shuffling her feet. You two sit in silence for a minute before you remember to respond.
“You’re welcome.” You nod, “I uh… should go get that tart for your sister.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’ll wait here for you.” Vi clears her throat. You nod and whirl around, hurrying to the back to grab a few of the jelly tarts. ‘Oh my Janna, that was awkward. What’s going on?’ You sigh and head back to the counter. You swallow when you see Vi, noticing that she looks nervous which is an expression you’ve never seen on her face before.
“Powder!” You call, “Here are your jelly tarts!” Powder jumps out of her seat, running up to the counter and snatching it from your hands. As she does that, Vi puts the money on the counter and you tuck it into the register. They get ready to head out, and Vi comes back up to the counter as her siblings step outside.
“Hey, uh… Y/n?” Vi messes with her wrappings, “Are you free anytime this week?”
“Free?” You parrot, your heart racing, “Y-Yeah, I am. Why?”
“Ah… Would you like to go on a date with me?” Vi meets your eyes. ‘She’s serious? Is she serious right now? Did she just ask me out?!’ You think you might faint.
“I-I would love to. Yes!” You grin excitedly, making Vi grin as well, “I’m free tomorrow afternoon. I work the morning shift and get out at lunchtime if that’s okay with you?”
“Yeah! Yeah, that’s okay with me.” Vi nods, “I’ll um… come and get you after your shift?”
“I’ll be waiting for you.” Your cheeks hurt from how hard you’re smiling.
“Great!” Vi looks outside to see her siblings still waiting, “I’ll see you tomorrow!” She leaves the bakery, glancing behind her one last time to give you a silly grin. You squeal happily, jumping up and down before rushing into the back to tell everyone the news. ‘I have a date with Vi!’ You couldn’t be happier.
Unfortunately, that same night your parents announced that you were leaving Zaun in the morning. Your brother had gotten into trouble with another gang - even though your parents forbid him from getting involved - and they had enough. Gretchen had been informed and stopped by with your last paycheck and a sad smile. You were heartbroken that you were forced to leave your home behind, especially after Vi had asked you out. So, you begged Gretchen to tell her what happened and she promised to. It was with a heavy heart that you left Zaun before the morning sun came up, getting onto a ship and going who knows where. Your parents wouldn’t tell you or anyone, fearing they’d chase down your brother. You hated him more than ever, and you didn’t know if that would ever change.
Tumblr media
“We’ll be stayin’ here for two weeks until all of the cargo comes in!” Your captain shouts from below you, “You’re in charge of findin’ your own place to stay!” She continues, making the crew groan. You snort, nudging your crewmate in the nest and sticking your tongue out. He snickers as you jump off the edge and slide down the ropes. With a grin, you kick one of your friends before you hit the deck and start running for the gangway.
“Y/N, YOU FUCKER! YOU SCARED THE SHIT OUTTA ME!” They holler after you, making you laugh. You weave your way through the crew, ducking underneath wooden beams and heading for the intake gate. You hand over your ID form and it only takes a few minutes for them to give you the go-ahead and cheerful “welcome home”. You take a deep breath and make your way to the drop into Zaun, knowing that your old place should still be there. It was an apartment building owned by your family so it was always available to stay in. You stare at the city you used to live in, taking in all of the changes as the bathysphere brings you down. You’ve been gone for years, and in your absence, Zaun has changed… in some ways.
As you make your way to the apartment, walking through a back alley, a guy rushes at you with a switchblade and you kick him in the throat. He chokes and wheezes, eyes going wide right before you stomp on his wrist and nab his knife. You whistle a sea shanty as you continue your way to the building, twirling the knife in your hand. Not bothering to unlock the gate, you carefully parkour over it, breathing a sigh of relief that the razor wire doesn’t catch your skin.
“Y/n?! Is that you, child?” You hear someone shout as you come around the front.
“Auntie R?!” You laugh incredulously, seeing your aunt and her friend hanging out, “I didn’t know you were still living here!” You embrace her and her friend.
“Where else would I have gone?” She snorts, “I’m not adventurous like your parents. No, sir, I stayed my ass right here.”
“Did those guys ever come by for Mike?” You ask curiously.
“They sure did. That very morning ya’ll booked it. I told them if they didn’t get their asses off of my property, I was going to throw my grenades at them. They never came back after that!” She laughs. Your aunt was a woman you admired greatly. She was the one who taught you how to parkour and would share stories about how she lost two of her teeth in a gang brawl as a teenager. Auntie R was the wilder one in your family and you loved her a lot. It makes you happy to see that she’s still hanging around Zaun.
“I’m glad that you’re doin’ good, auntie. I’m going to head inside and shower 'cause I’m tired of the smell of salt water after tw’nty-three days at sea.” You laugh. You were one of the few on the ship that wouldn’t be caught dead sticking to high hell. During the straights, you and a few others would hoist up a bucket of saltwater and scrub yourselves clean at night. Your Captain joined you as well, saying that she loved the sea but she’d rather not have people cringing away from her.
“You can borrow a pair of my clothes until you get some. Let me give you a crash course on what has changed, yeah? You’ll be surprised.”
“Sounds good.” You nod.
Your aunt told you about all of the new changes, giving you money to get more clothes even though you wouldn’t be staying long. You couldn’t believe what she was saying, but as you made your way through Zaun, you could see it. People looked like they were doing better and clothes seemed much cleaner. The clothing stores had a lot many different styles of clothing and you were happy about that. Living in Bilgewater had opened you up to a lot of things that you didn’t have in Zaun, and being a pirate had helped with that, too.
And like any ol’ pirate trying to wind down after a long month at sea, you headed to where the alcohol was. Even though you’ve been gone for a while, you’d never forget the way to The Last Drop. You were playing with that switchblade you had nabbed, idly wondering if that guy would come looking for it. You raise an eyebrow at the two bodyguards standing outside the building, but you shrug. Slipping the switchblade into your pocket, they only glance at you as you stroll past, pushing the door open. The loud chatter in the Drop makes you feel at home, and you grin when you see your Captain and a few other mates around a table.
“Y’all are over here drinking and you don’t even have a pint for me?” You shake your crewmate’s chair, making him choke on his beer. The others laugh and you plop yourself into the empty seat, putting your feet onto Captain Andi’s lap. The two of you have a little thing going on and keep each other company during the long journeys you make. It was no secret among the crew, especially because you’re not quiet about it.
“Don’t worry, the next round is coming.” Andi snorts, “I see you got new clothes.”
“Zaun was my home before Bilgewater. I’ve got family in the city.” You shrug, “Besides, we’re here for two weeks. I had to get a new pair anyway after someone dropped my bag into the sea as an offering.” You glare at Hector.
“I didn’t want to drop my things in!” Hector protests, “I didn’t have anything else, and you can’t go through Siren’s Keep without an offering!”
“Watch. Y/n is going to be blessed with an amazing love life because it wasn’t your stuff. The sirens know the difference.” Jayla snickers.
“W-wait, hold on!” Hector sputters, making your group crack up. You all start teasing him, telling him that he could offer his own body and at least he’d die by a siren’s hands. The next round of drinks comes over and you down your pint of beer, sighing in relief at the cold drink. A few people come by to flirt, offering to buy drinks or boldly requesting that one of you come to keep them company. The conversation rolls easily, more drinks are brought to the table, and you finally get to decompress. Your stomach was growling, dying for a hot meal that wasn’t soup and something more solid. As if everyone else had the same idea, you all ordered burgers and you nearly cried when you took the first bite.
After eating, the rest of the group gets up to play a couple of rounds of pool, while you choose to stay seated. Your gaze wanders around the bar and you find yourself pausing as a group of people walk in. A little tipsy, it takes your mind a moment to process who you see, “Oh.” You blink watching them walk towards the bar. Powder - who else has such vibrant blue hair - meets your gaze from across the bar and you get to witness her face go from confusion to excitement. “OH, MY GODS! Y/N?!” She screams, drawing attention to her as she races your way, making you panic. You jump up from your chair in time for her to crush you in a hug. You yelp as you stagger back a bit, but you catch yourself from falling.
“Powder!” You gasp, surprised by her reaction and that she recognized you.
“I can’t believe you’re here!” Powder grins, hopping from foot to foot, “VI! VI, Y/N’S BACK! SHE’S BACK!” She screams at the group she came in with, who’s a lot closer than they were a few seconds ago. You feel speechless. Vi was attractive when you were teenagers, but now? She’s handsome as hell. A few scars on her face, a nose piercing, and a tattoo on her neck. Vi seems as shocked to see you as you are to see her. Claggor and Ekko give you a hug like the sweethearts they are, while Mylo nods at you. The woman with them is someone you don’t recognize. ‘She’s probably someone they met after I left.’
“Y/n.” Vi says in disbelief, lips twitching into a smile, “I-I didn’t know that you were back in Zaun. When did you get here?” She steps forward to hug you, and you think you might melt in her arms. There’s something off about her hug that you can’t put your finger on. ‘This is nice. Her hugs are nice… Oh shit, right, she asked a question.’
“Today, actually. My crew and I are in the city waiting for a trade-off of some cargo.” You step away from her, thinking you drank too much when you feel your cheeks warm, “I’ll be here for a few weeks before heading back out.”
“Crew?” The unknown woman speaks up, “What crew?”
“Pirate crew, miss…?” Hector tosses his arm over your shoulder, making you scowl.
“Caitlyn.” The woman introduces herself. You pick up his half-finished pint and shove the glass into his chest. He winks at you and stumbles back to the pool table. ‘Nosy ass, urchin.’
“You joined a pirate crew?!” Powder gasps, hitting her sister on the shoulder, “Vi! Date a pirate instead! Even better, date Y/n!”
“Ha ha, Powder. Very funny. I’m not breaking up with Caitlyn.” Vi rolls her eyes, “For the thousandth time.”
“Oh, you two are together?” You feel like you’ve been punched in the stomach for some weird reason.
“Yup! Weird, right?” Mylo laughs, “Vi’s dating a Piltie- OW!” He clutches his head as Vi’s fist drops back to her side.
“Why don’t you come and hang out with us?” Vi suggests, “Unless you want to stay with your crew?” You glance at your friends and Andi waves you off. ‘I can hang out with them another time. I’m stuck with them at sea for days anyway.’ You snort.
“I’ll join you, but I’ll warn you that I’ve had a bit to drink.” You chuckle.
“That’s fine.” Ekko grins, “We were going to have a few drinks ourselves.” Powder squeals, grabs your arm, and starts dragging you to the back. You end up spending a long time with the group, talking and catching up on things that have happened. Hearing about what happened in Zaun a few years after you left was appalling. Especially when you found out that Vi got arrested and sent to Stillwater! Then came your time to share what happened when you moved away from Zaun. You talked about the reason you left and how you haven’t talked to your brother in years. You were so pissed that you were forced to leave your life behind because of him that you never forgave him. Eventually, it was only you and Vi awake after everyone drank too much and passed out. The two of you sat in a corner and talked, the only two who can hold their alcohol. You found yourself really falling back into conversation with her before you fell asleep.
Tumblr media
You’ve been back in Zaun for a week and a half and it’s been more stressful than you thought it would be. After you ran into Vi and her family, you spent a few more days hanging out with Vi. The two of you spent hours talking and running around Zaun together, trying to catch up while sober. Ever since you left Zaun, you hadn’t been able to successfully date anyone. As a result, you stuck to regular hookups or one-night stands. After a while, you stopped thinking about Vi and you thought that you had gotten over her. It was during these moments with her that you had a terrible realization… You’re still in love with Vi.
It felt like you were back to being a teenager when you were around her. You giggled at her jokes, got flustered when you couldn’t think of what to say, and you even pinched her at some point! One night as you tried to sleep, you ended up wondering what would happen if you hadn’t left. What would that date have been? Would you have gone to the school brawl together? Would the two of you be together now or would it have been a short fling? Those thoughts buzzing in your mind had you returning to the one place you went for some privacy. It was a rooftop near your apartment that had a perfect view of Zaun and Piltover.
You were sitting at the edge, resting your chin on one knee as you stared out at the scenery. ‘I can’t believe I’m still into Vi. It’s been years! I should be over her by now. I mean… I was only crushing on her back then… How could that turn into love without doing anything? Ugh, this is so frustrating. It’s a good thing I’ll be leaving in a few days.’ You sigh to yourself.
“What’s got you sighing so heavily?” You hear Vi say from behind you. You turn your head as she sits down next to you, nudging your shoulder as she does.
“Ah, something on my mind.” You shrug, trying not to show any telling emotions on your face, “I couldn’t sleep and I used to come here to clear my mind.”
“Really? I’ve brought Powder up here a few times growing up. We usually have our important conversations here.” Vi sighs, leaning back on her hands, “I came here because I have something on my mind, too.”
“You can talk about it if you’d like. It might help.” You offer. ‘Even though Vi is currently the one haunting my thoughts, it feels good to have her next to me.’
“Alright, well… I’ve had this woman on my mind for a while. It made being in long-term relationships hard because all I could think about was her. I kept asking myself “what if” and eventually I managed to stop thinking about her. I got into a relationship and imagine my surprise when I see her again after eight years.” You meet Vi’s shaded gaze with wide eyes as she continues talking, “And the more I talked to this woman, I realized that I am irrevocably in love with her… So, I broke up with Caitlyn and decided to try and find you. I gave up when I couldn’t and came here to think and found you.”
“Y-You’re in love with me?” You stutter, staring at her in disbelief, “Seriously?”
“Seriously.” Vi nods, caressing your face in the low light, “I was heartbroken when I came to get you for our date only to find out that you skipped town. I honestly couldn’t move on from that and seeing you again reminded me that I never did.”
“That’s-” You laugh joyously, “I feel the same way about you. You’ve been on my mind for years. I-I came out here tonight because I realized that I love you, and with you being in a relationship… I thought I didn’t have a chance.”
“I left her for you… I’d really like to take you out on a date.” Vi smiles, “And hopefully you don’t run away from me before I can do that.” She jokes, making you giggle. You look up at the sky and realize that it's around two in the morning. ‘I should be getting back to bed… but I don’t have to go alone.’ You peek at Vi in the corner of your eye. You stand up and hold your hand out to her, Vi taking it and letting you help her up.
“It’s late. My apartment is nearby if you want to spend the night.” You offer, “I don’t want you to fall off a rooftop from exhaustion.” You say teasingly.
“Lead the way.” Vi grins, making you smile.
The moment you close your apartment door, Vi’s lips are on yours and you have to blindly feel for the lock. You kiss with your back pressed to the door, before you break it to push her towards your bedroom. Not wanting to lay in bed dirty, you invite her to take a shower with you. Vi’s eyebrows shoot up, but she joins you in the shower where you end up against the cold tile. Slow, unhurried kisses are exchanged that increase the intimacy.
Vi surprises you by gently toweling you off, leaving soft kisses along your body as she does. Her care of your body has a warmth rising between your legs. You return the favor, drying her off and letting your fingertips caress her body, especially her back. There’s an unspoken agreement between you two as you watch Vi put her strap on, laying down on the bed for her.
Not a word is spoken as she settles between your legs. You were almost afraid to speak, not wanting to break whatever spell you two were under. All you know is that you want her, so you spread your legs and Vi takes the cue. The soft groan that leaves your lips as she slowly slides into you is what breaks the spell.
“I want to worship your body.” Vi whispers, fingertips pressing into your hips, “Is it okay if I go slow?”
“That’s okay with me.” You whisper back, relaxing in her arms. Vi’s careful with you. Touching your body as if you’ll break underneath her if she’s rough with you. Her thrusts are slow and methodical, making you gasp every time her hips meet yours. You’re holding her to you, legs wrapped around her waist as moan into her ear. Just because you were taking it slow didn’t mean that you weren’t desperate for each other.
“I’ve thought about this.” You breathe out, letting your eyes slip shut as you enjoy it, “You touching me like this.”
“I have too.” Vi mutters, kissing your temple, “My guiltiest pleasure has always been you.” Her thrusts are consistent and it feels as though she’s caressing you from the inside. It doesn’t take long for your orgasm to teeter on the edge, and when it happens you’re holding her closer in a tender embrace.
Vi takes off the strap and lays with you, snuggling under the covers as you bask in the bliss she brought you. This was the intimacy you craved. The intimacy you couldn’t obtain from anyone else because of your love for this woman.
“I genuinely thought I’d never see you again.” The words come out of your mouth before you can stop them, “I was heartbroken that I lost you.” Vi kisses your cheek, pulling your body closer to hers.
“You’ll never lose me. My heart has been yours from the day I met you, and it always will be.” She leans in and kisses you deeply, chasing away all of the doubts of your youth. Vi was right, after all. You were hers forever and always.

Y/N’s POV
Cousins Beach has always been a beautiful place to visit over the summer. My family has been friends with the Fisher and Conklin families since I was young. I was always closest with Belly, as we were the only two girls besides our moms. Steven was friendly enough. Jeremiah always knew to bring the party to us and was there if you asked, But, Conrad, Conrad was there no matter what. I never had to ask. When the rest of the kids walked together, he would walk by me so I didn’t have to walk alone. He would help me calm my anxiety by walking on the beach with me. He would save me from uncomfortable social situations. When my dad died, he would text me every week (I told him every day was too much). I truly appreciated him more than he ever would know because when I break it's in a million pieces. I was hurting so much, but I had him. My family sold our old home when my father died, but Laurel lets us stay with their family every summer now. It was very sweet of her to do that and it also means endless summer sleepovers with Belly. It can be a little mentally taxing to not have a space to decompress after a long day socializing, so I tend to go on runs after dinner around the beach. My twin sister, S/N, joined me once, but now she prefers partying with Steven.
This year, everything is different. Belly is being entered into the debutante ball. I went a few years ago and my escort was Conrad. I wonder who will take her this year. Susannah has breast cancer and I can tell it’s taking a toll on Conrad a lot. I’ve tried to talk to him about it, but he keeps pushing me away.
Dinner tonight has been tense. Belly somehow snuck out to the party at the beach. And it's hard to be at a party when I feel like an open wound. I was there because S/N wanted me as her moral support if she was rejected by guys or girls, but I mainly hung out with Jeremiah because he’s funny to watch when he gets drunk. I did see Conrad drinking and smoking off to the side. He glared at me when I got another drink. I'm still trying everything to keep you looking at me. No idea what his problem is. He won’t talk to me. It's hard to be anywhere these days when all I want is you...
And since that happened, the family is torn. Belly was in no real danger since I was with her at the party and watching over her, but my family didn’t like the idea of a small girl watching another small girl. They said it was unsafe for us to be alone, even though we were with other people at the party. Conrad’s parents got mad because he was supposed to watch everyone as the “oldest” sibling there. The funny thing is, Conrad and I are the same age.
I watch as Conrad storms outside after dinner. I watch his dad follows him outside. Susannah leans over to me and says “Go outside and check on Conrad, will you? I know his father can be a bit direct and Conrad doesn’t always respond best to that. He’ll need you.” I get up and walk through the back door outside. I hear Mr. Fisher say in a slightly raised voice “You’re the oldest. You’re supposed to look out for the younger kids.” UH OH! I exclaim “Technically, we’re the same age.” Conrad says “Go away, Y/N.” Mr. Fisher says “Conrad, apologize right now.” I reply “It’s okay, Mr. Fisher. Um... could you tell my mom I’m going on a run and I’ll be back after?” He nods and I storm past them to the house.
I change, put my headphones on, and run on the beach. I collapse on the beach at the end and put my feet in the cold wet sand. It feels amazing here. I take off my headphones and watch the waves wash over the beach. It’s weird but fuckin’ beautiful.
I hear footsteps and wonder who they sent to check on me. I hear “May I join you?” I see Conrad and I ask “Oh so you finally want to talk to me now?” And my words shoot to kill when I’m mad. I have a lot of regret about that.  Conrad sits then asks “Uhh something like that. I’m sorry. Do you want water? I figured you would be thirsty after the run. I was waiting to see you run by.” I reply “I will gladly accept, thanks, Conrad.” He replies “Of course.”
I look at the water and exclaim “Sorry for snapping a minute ago. I just get in my head sometimes and I know it was rude of me to say that. If you didn’t want to talk, I shouldn’t have tried to push you.” He replies “It’s alright. You’re the only one who cares enough to try.” I look at him and see tears staining his cheeks. I reach over and we hug. He rests his head in the crook of my neck and just lets all his tears out. I can tell he has been holding them back by how his tears ricochet.
Eventually, Conrad pulls away from the hug and says “Everyone either doesn’t try to talk to me or they seem afraid of me. I feel like I’ve lost everyone and I have no one left. No one makes me feel like I’m worth anything. I just ... I’m hurting and I miss when days were better. My dad ... he said that I should’ve been a better example. He could smell the alcohol on my breath and he wants me to shape up. He doesn’t see that this is me trying.” I take his hands in mine and say “Conrad Fisher, you’re worth more than gold. You have a wonderful beautiful soul and you deserve so much happiness. I’m sorry to hear how you’ve been feeling, but I want you to know I’m here for you. I’m here for a crying session, a good escape from reality, and I can beat up someone for you if you need me to.” He half smiles and says “But you’re a small girl and they’re not good at defending themselves.” Ahahaha throwing our parent’s words at each other, are we? I half smile and say “And you’re just the oldest sibling who too many people expect too much from.” He nods and says “It’s too much.” I reply “The past few years, when times were tough and I didn’t see a reason to keep going, you were the light in my life. You were a person who helped me see how wonderful life could be amidst the worry and grief. This place on the beach is where we would often find each other when my anxiety got really bad. I don’t know if you remember. But... this is our spot where we let go and allow ourselves to really feel what we feel.” He looks out and wraps his arm around my shoulders. I lean against him and I feel his arms tracing patterns on my arm. We talk more and the sun fully sets.
I pull away from him and we stand up. We start walking back to the house and Conrad exclaims “Thank you for letting me talk and feel and be myself. I would be lying if I said that was it for my problems.” I stop walking and ask “What’s wrong, Conrad?” He stops, looks down at the ground, and says “Nothing is wrong. Well to me, it’s not wrong. It’s stupid really. I don’t know why I feel the need to tell you because it could mean I lose you.” I take his hands in mine and say “You’re scaring me, Conrad. Please tell me what can’t you tell me that means I no longer want in your life.” He replies “I am so very in love with you, Y/N.” HOLY BLEEPING WHAT?!?!?  He quickly drops my hands and says “Just forget I said that, please. We’ll be friends and I can move on. Just don’t tell everyone please.” I put my hands on both sides of his face and say “I love you too, you big idiot.” He smiles and we kiss. Love you to the moon and to Saturn Passed down like folk songs The love lasts so long...

-he def pranks u sometimes with Yae but the both of them will start RUNNING when you yell his name
-you’ll walk in to find Ayato, Itto and Kazuha absolutely STONED and lecture them abt doing it somewhere slightly public
-sayu is ur child ur not changing my mind
-the real reason Ayato can always find Sayu is acc through you like let’s say you find her sleeping in a tree one day but you can’t get her so you call Ayato and he puts you on his shoulders to grab her
-sayu is always asleep in a tree I feel like she’s jus special like that
Alhaitham
-he and dehya r secretly bsfs
-they’ll acc spar a lot with cyno cuz all three of their fighting styles r very similar
-he is a MAD SHIT TALKER y’all ain’t changing my mind
-he’ll probably accidentally go on a whole rant about kaveh to Cyno whenever they cross paths and he won’t even realize and he’ll be a lil embarrased but cyno just finds it funny
-him and dori will meet up randomly, shit talk everyone they hate and then go back to living life
-dori and him give me like brother and sister vibes??
-just imagine a family reunion and it’s like him, dori and kaveh
-it would be HELL LMAO
-anyway haitham x ready time ?!
-he gives me never been in a relationship vibe but he’s def hooked up with sm1 before
-I havé à feeling he also knows Lisa (they were prob the HOTTEST students in the Akademiya)
-him, Lisa and cyno were def a trio seeing as cyno knew Lisa and they were friends
-anyways with u and Alhaitham, he’s not good with relationship crap because ur his first relationship
-he might even ask nahida for help since yk she’s a lil knowledge god and she’ll know everything
-nahida wont even give advice where it’s like be this type of boyfriend instead she’s like a “be yourself” person and he doesn’t have the heart to break it to her that’s not what he asked
-this is when bsf Dehya comes in!!
-guys I said this in the bday headcanons (if y’all read it) but if he doesn’t see u for a long time and you reunite after a while, HE WILL PICK U UP AND TWIRL YOU AROUND WJDNWJFJE
Cyno + Tighnari
-okay so I imagine that these 2 started out not liking each other
-they were both like complete opposites but then cyno cracked a joke once and tighnari was like “nah WTf”
-he invited Cyno that same night and they acc became best friends and if you’d like to imagine it then lovers after
-when cyno overheard abt collei in mondstadt he HAD to go over even if he didn’t know her
-the fact cyno basically kinda saved her makes me so happy I don’t even know why
-he was there for her throughout the whole aftermath and took her all the way to sumeru to heal? JUST FOR HER
-HE’S SO DADDY (literal)
-him and tighnari def r protective over collei (dads struggling fr)
-Cyno and tighnari x reader (yes poly)
-you are ALL parents to collei
-tighnari is the housewife.
-if ur a forest ranger then they are very protective over u and collei
-if ur an Akademiya student like them then don’t be shocked when they shove a list into ur face full of groceries
-There’s a voice line abt kaveh that I HAVE to talk abt here
-kaveh gets invited over to dinner right
-and he talks NON stop abt Alhaitham
-and tighnari apparently told cyno that everything Kaveh says is funnier than his jokes
-cyno will kaugh bht he’s CRYING inside
-you banish tighnari to the couch that night (for 15 mins until Cyno wants him back)
-collei had her childhood taken away from her so even now she’s basically a little girl still
-if she has a nightmare she goes straight to you
-tighnari will lwokey be pissed cuz it used to be HIM she’d go too
-cyno is fucking dead asleep 💀

RL Simself Story ( 18+)
CW: Pregnancy, Depression
Another week passed and I was still at my Grandparents. I’ve been here for 3 weeks now. Even my Cuz went back to university. Yesterday I had my exam. At least this thing went well. I passed it with almost maximum points. And yet I couldn’t be happy about it for long. I wasn't feeling well. My depression had reached its peak again, so I couldn't go to work this morning. I lay in bed all day long, staring at my walls. This still felt better than leaving my room. Just thinking about it, overwhelmed me. But I called my therapist. I told her I was pregnant. I haven’t seen her in weeks. Those group sessions I once mentioned, were okay, but I missed much. Anyway, she wanted to see me. She asked me to come to her practice tomorrow, to talk about my panic attacks and some other stuff. She also advised me to continue my medication.
My Grams was worried about me. She noticed that Nico didn’t come to me anymore. So I told her he broke up with me and that I had to divorce Daniel. And I’m going to file the divorce petition, but getting a divorce is not as easy as I thought. Tbh, it seemed impossible!?? That... person/DA, who handled my divorce, simply did not accept the reasons I gave her for my divorce. She said it would take at least a year, bcs Daniel wasn’t there, and who knows? Maybe we’ll make up, she meant. 😡...Agh, it's going to be complicated. And Daniel will be back soon anyway. Nevertheless, we will not divorce, but we’re not gonna be together either. 😫
That evening, my Parents and my Sister came by at my Grandparents. My Mom wanted to know what’s wrong with me? Why don’t I come back home? My Grams was a little tense when my Mom started to get upset about me. But my Mom was just worried. I was pregnant! What happens now? Do I keep the Baby or not? This was still not quite clear. I had an abortion appointment in 3 days. My Grams got so mad at my mom for talking about that! But my Mom never told me to abort my Baby neither my Dad! They just didn’t know what I really wanted!!??... Am I getting a divorce? Am I keeping Nico's Baby? Why isn't he here? Are we even together? And why am I alone in my room crying? My Parents wanted answers!
And Ana was still confused about my pregnancy. She still thought Dennis might have knocked me up. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️Ana thought I was so sad because of that. So she finally decided to talk to me about this thing! She came over to my room. But somehow we both did not succeed in talking to each other. I admit, it was hard for me to look at Ana, without having to think about Adam. I mean..... I don’t hate Adam. Still, what he did to me was disgusting. And Ana also had that gross pic of Adam and me in her mind. She didn't feel comfortable around me. Ana & I weren’t mad at each other, we just needed some time, I think. 😞
Ana: Hey, A..... You ok?
Me: Hi 🫤
Ana: I’ve known you were pregnant for 4 weeks, I noticed when you took a pregnancy test. I didn’t want to ask you about it. You know?..... I’m happy for you, if you want a Baby, but... I’m not happy for Daniel. 😞
Me: Yea, that’s why I can’t be happy about it, even though I want a Baby.
Ana: You don’t have to...... do this, if you’re not sure. 🙁
Me: I love N. 😞
Ana: Honestly, A.! Can it be that you do not know exactly who you are pregnant from?? Dennis, you know? You were totally high! Maybe you slept with him and don’t remember?
Me: It's Nico's Baby. Trust me, I know when and how it happend! And I didn't sleep with Dennis!! We were going to, but... well, you know what happend. Adam interfered. And before you ask.... NO, I didn’t sleep with Adam!!
Ana: I know! He was just a few mins alone with you.
Me: You staying here tonight?
Ana: Why don’t you come home?
Me: Um.... I’m tired.
Ana: Ok...... I go back over.... Grama fears Mom and Dad will soon get divorced too, like our stupid uncle....
Me: I don't care. They are 41! They’ll know what they’re doing.
Ana: Whatever you say.
Like I said, I wasn’t really in the mood to talk to Ana. Honestly, I also felt a bit humbled because she thought I didn’t know who I was pregnant with.

Why season 6 was overall disappointing for me.
To varying degrees, I felt like ALL of the characters were fumbled. Let me explain, and buckle in because this is stupidly long, but I needed to get it out of my system. 🤙
My critical thoughts are under the cut to save your dash. If that’s not your jam, don’t read.
✨ CHIMNEY & MADDIE
Do I like that Maddie and Chimney are engaged? Yes. But do I think the mending and coming back together of Maddie and Chimney throughout season 6 was done super well? Ehhhh it was okay. Even then, this was probably the better handled story for any couple/character this season.
Why didn’t we get to see them working through things in therapy? And then continuing to work on things outside of that as well? It really felt like we had a speed run through them making up for everything that went down in season 5. They both clearly had issues to work on like Maddie’s hesitancy to marry again, her guilt over (needing to) leave, Chimney’s overall self worth and insecurities. It felt like a little too often Maddie and Chimney weren’t talking things out together, weren’t properly communicating, but talking with other people about any issue.
Also Chimney needs to retake his paramedics exam or something because my dude pulled out a bar after being impaled?!? Wtf, you know better Chimney! And he lost a ton of blood, but bounced back hella quick. 🙃
✨ ATHENA
I’m truly drawing a blank on what Athena’s story even was in season 6, beyond I think the first 1-2 episodes of a childhood friend's (or was the girl even a friend of Athena’s??) murder being solved; that was it for her. Even then, the closure was definitely more so for the benefit of the sister of the murdered girl.
Oh wait, Athena’s dad was in an accident, but he recovered. Nothing about that was touched on once the episodes were done. No other mention of Athena’s parents.
Athena honestly just kinda floated through the whole season. Yes she had moments of being a wonderful and supportive partner to Bobby, they had some cute moments together, but that was it.
✨ BOBBY
The story of Wendal in theory was good, but not handled in a satisfying way. Like at all. Why? Because the show really brought in someone we’ve never met, told us he’s been important to Bobby and Athena for years, and then asked us to be very moved by it all in about four episodes.
Before anyone starts to protest, “but the show has done so well getting us to care about one off characters in 911 calls many times before.” Yes, they have, but the big difference is that those are one off characters. Wendal wasn’t meant to be seen as a one and done character, but rather someone that’s been present for years and actually meant something to two of our main characters.
What didn’t help was that Wendal was set up in episode 6x9, the last episode before a 3 month hiatus. Then when the story was picked back up and concluded in 2-3 episodes, I think there was a passing mention of Wendal and then… nothing. We didn’t see this affect Bobby any further. We didn’t see him continue to go to AA meetings, nothing with that.
Another fumble was May confirming I believe in episode 6x11 or 6x12 that Bobby is Buck's dad. He’s a father figure to Buck. However, after that scene the show didn’t do nearly as much with this as they could have. They could have and should have had more bonding scenes between Buck and Bobby. Like yes, has it been pretty clear that Bobby is essentially a father to Buck before May stated it out loud? Yes. But it still would have been nice to, idk, maybe even have Buck and Bobby have a conversation about this in some capacity. Just something you know?
Hell, if the show had stuck to the story of Buck processing his death - which they kinda dropped - then they could have had one or two scenes at least of Buck talking to Bobby about his dreams and everything. Instead we got Buck brushing off his death (because running from and not really processing trauma is nothing new for Buck), having at least two honest conversations with Eddie saying he feels lost and unsure, but then nothing else. But more on Buck later.
Beyond the Wendal story, Bobby didn’t get to do much this season. And he too healed from his injuries in the finale hella quick.
✨ MAY
I guess this important side character is doing fine at college? Still going out with that young man she had dated in high school?? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
✨ HEN
I think overall I’m pretty satisfied with the wrap up of Hen deciding to quit med school and focus on and remain being a firefighter. Still, I don’t know if this is necessary, but I kinda think the whole doctor thing could have been brought up once or twice afterward? Becoming a doctor had been a big thing for Hen for something like 3 years, and I know she decided she’s happy being a firefighter, but I suppose it feels like the doctor thing has been forgotten all together? *shrugs* Not a big thing, but yeah.
Karen's workplace blowing up was a one and done story. No mention about or fallout from that. Mm.
Uhhh where was the build up to Hen and Karen wanting to adopt? In the finale I really thought, “Who are all these kids running around? Is this a sleepover???” Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of Hen and Karen wanting to adopt, but if this had been discussed at all in season 6, it must have been once early on in 6A or something, because I was confused where this story came from. They needed a little more build up to this because it really felt a little out of left field, and rushed (like much of the finale).
Correct me if I’m misremembering, but didn’t Toni say to Hen, “a boy needs his father”????? What kind of messaging is that? Not a good or positive one, I’ll tell you that. It’s coming across as, “actually these two powerful women, these wonderful mothers, aren’t enough to raise a child.” It’s coming across as “actually, low-key, the nuclear family is the best kind.” This post by @very-feral-lesbian stated that it’s homophobia, and I don’t think they’re wrong.
And this isn’t the first time 911 has implied this, that the nuclear family is right. Carla in season two said, “that boy needs his momma” about Chris and Shannon. In that case, it felt disrespectful to Eddie being a single father. As if Eddie wasn’t enough for Christopher.
911 may be diverse in many regards, but they’re not consistent in their messaging.
Plus, wh - where did this Nathaniel story even come from? We haven’t heard anything about him since season 2, when it seemed Hen and Karen were on good terms with him. But out of the blue in season 6 we have Denny suddenly wanting his biological father in his life? When as far as we knew, he seemed perfectly content with his moms and his grandma in his life?
Another rather awful message is that Nathaniel, a grown adult, a stranger to Denny, thought it was okay to meet his biological son behind Denny’s mothers’ back for months??? And he was forgiven for that????? Yeah Hen and Karen said “do something like that again and you’re out,” but still. Nathaniel has definitely proven himself untrustworthy. I didn’t care for how this was handled at all.
✨ The Buckley Parents & Mr Han
*deep sigh* Good lord, I’ll try to keep this brief. These reconciliation stories were not handled well at all. I’ve seen plenty of people baffled and upset that the show had given these sucky parents a redemption, which means the show did a poor job in making it clear what they were attempting.
The worst was probably Mr. Han because the only “work” he put in was playing with Jee-Yun once or twice. He did nothing else in regards to Chimney. It was just Albert guilting Chimney to give Mr. Han another chance, and Mrs. Han giving a one minute speech about how “you and your dad are both stubborn.” Wow, so satisfying.
Personally I do wish the show would have the balls to say, “you know, some parents just suck, they don’t change, and that’s life.” But nah, gotta allow even the shittiest of parents reconciliation stories.
✨ BUCK
I have the most to say about him because this season gave Buck 5 storylines. These storylines overall were messily executed, and three of them not even resolved.
— Leadership —
At the beginning of the season, yes, it was set up that Buck wants to take on leadership. However, from that to the finale there wasn’t really anything in between to connect it. So this particular arc felt a bit unearned.
— Donor Storyline —
I do believe it had potential, but it was fumbled in my eyes. In 6A it was really clear that Buck was struggling with donating, wondering if this was a good decision for him. Okay, that right there makes sense for Buck. Buck’s continuous struggle of being seen as parts to be given away no matter how it actually affects him.
However, Buck’s struggle was fully dropped once 6B came back on. Instead it pivoted to Connor and Kameron having the issues, specifically Connor. Connor was the one struggling with being a dad to a kid that’s not biologically his and not communicating with Kameron on how he feels. Keep in mind, we got most of this information in the last two episodes. No idea what other reasons, if there were any, why Kameron and Connor were struggling being married.
In episode 6x17, the show seemingly implied that Kameron and Buck were friends? Friendly enough that Kameron thought it was okay to crash at her donor’s place for however long. I guess she has no friends or family in LA. In any case, it really wasn’t until the last two episodes that Connor and Kameron really “mattered.” Buck became the mediator and pep talk guy. I guess Buck's line of “just love that kid” helped solve Connor and Kameron’s issues. 🙃
And I guess it was necessary for Buck to see the baby, so he could have some realization of “Wow, I really helped create this baby, but I’m okay with letting him go.” Though I honestly don’t think it was truly necessary for Buck to be the one to help birth the baby, but that’s just me. *shrugs* He could have just seen the baby at the hospital after being called up to see, and then peace out.
Overall I just don’t feel 100% satisfied with this story since, again, Buck was struggling with the decision in 6A, but 6B said “no he’s not.”
-– Being at Ease & Finding Happiness -–
I’m grouping these two storylines together. The only concrete thing I can say about them is that they were forgotten and not concluded by the end of the season. 🙃 I’m definitely disappointed because Buck learning to be at ease with himself? Now that was something he has needed to learn, and would have been great to see. It’s a much needed healing opportunity for Buck, but alas.
It’s an added layer of frustration because, to me at least, it really feels like those at 911 are dragging their feet at genuinely allowing Buck to grow and heal as a character in more significant ways. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking the growth I have seen, nor saying he’s had zero growth as a character in the past 3-4 seasons. But damn if it feels like it’s mostly one step forwards, two steps back, and sometimes just going in circles.
I’ve seen other fans thinking that Buck has become kinda stagnant as a character, not just in season 6 but for longer. And I don’t think it’s because “they’re stupid” or “they’re just not seeing the long form storytelling” or something. No, if that’s some people's view of Buck? There’s reason and merit to that.
— Bucks Death (and revival) —
Buck died, struggled with his death, and… there was no conclusion or resolution to this. 🙃
We saw Buck not processing his death, refusing to properly process it for a time. He only admitted to Eddie twice that he was struggling, and then… nothing.
— (unnecessary) Romance —
We all thought when Natalia, the death doula, was brought in that she was going to help Buck process his death - despite the fact that it would have been more narratively satisfying to see Buck figure things out with the help of his found family, but sure. And yet, we didn’t get Natalia helping Buck process his death. Rather she found it cool, they went on a couple dates because Buck is once again in a trauma response mode, Natalia seemed honestly uncomfortable with how full Buck’s life is and ran, but came back and said sorry, and now after 4 dates Buck asked her to buy a couch with him.
??????????????
What bugs me the most is that Buck’s romantic life was not a part of his narrative or story for the majority of season 6. This out of left field romance was shoved in, poorly, into the last 3-4 episodes of the season.
I’ve seen one take that a romance for Buck - at what was potentially the last season - was something the general audience would expect, so the writers put it in. I - can’t say I really agree with that. Given Buck’s story and narrative through most of season 6, would the general audience really be upset and confused for Buck to, for example, be single and happy in the end? I also gotta say I don’t like the messaging that the only happy ending is for someone to be in a romantic relationship.
Plus, setting aside the fact that season 6 could have been the last season, Buck has been single at the end seasons 2, 3, 5, and arguably even season 1, but he didn’t realize it yet. In season 2 he was sad but not heartbroken over Ali, and I doubt the audience was particularly sad about it considering she was barely present. Season 3 Buck found peace (of sorts) with Abby, and was otherwise fine. Season 5 he’d broken up with TK and was looking really fucking happy and at peace about that.
So why exactly would the general audience “expect” Buck to be with someone, especially in a season that had up until the last 4-ish episodes had zero focus on his romantic life? “Because Buck for years now has been searching for a romantic partner.” Sure, but it’s a disservice to Buck and really everyone that the solution is to pair him off with someone they barely developed, and show/say that he’s happy about it. Like “aren’t you glad we gave Buck someone whose sole purpose is to be a love interest and nothing more?”
But circling back to Natalia. It’s hard to have much of an opinion about her because we’ve been told literally nothing about her beyond her profession. The most we’ve gotten out of her is her only being interested in Buck’s death and being generally overwhelmed at Buck and his life (even a little judgemental), before and after her apology.
We have no idea why Buck thinks “she sees me.” We don’t know what Buck sees in Natalia beyond her profession and being a beautiful woman. We have no idea what Natalia even sees in Buck despite her saying “I like you.” Because we’ve been shown nothing. And I will say what doesn’t help is that these two actors have zero chemistry.
Once again Buck has found himself passively in a relationship with no idea how he’s gotten there. I’ve seen this movie before, four times to be exact. It’s tiring, repetitive and boring at this point. Natalia and Buck are following too many similar beats already to Buck and Taylor.
There are two possible outcomes of this in season 7, 1) they break up or 2) the folks at 9-1-1 say fuck it and make Natalia and Buck endgame. Neither option is great, and I’ll explain why.
If they break up? Then what was the point? Is it going to be, “Buck learned that Natalia didn’t actually see him for who he is, nor could ever really understand and love all of him”? Hello. We’ve seen this movie before. It doesn’t matter that “Natalia isn’t as bad as Taylor” because we’ve seen this movie before. Introducing Natalia or any new love interest earlier in season 6 would have made it a modicum better, but I still wouldn’t like it. And I’m allowed to not like story choices. I must emphasize that what doesn’t help anything is that Natalia is barely a character.
So if the folks at 911 do decide to make Natalia and Buck endgame? It’s not hyperbole to say they have a shit ton of work to do to make this satisfying in any way.
The show is in such a weird spot because of the writers strike, WHICH I fully support. But the reality now is that the show, as far as we know, may not come back until January of 2024. 911 has always, as best they could, followed a real world timeline. So either the story will jump ahead 6 months, which you can imagine will cause several issues for many characters, or they’re for the first time going to only jump ahead, idk, a couple months into the future. Taking into consideration how the show left things off, they kinda shot themselves in the foot.
Because if they jump ahead 6 months and Buck and Natalia are still together? Great. Then we’ve literally missed a significant portion of their relationship, and the beginning of it has already been a whole lot of nothing.
What’s worse is IF, for Eddie, there is a 6 month time jump and he’s still with Marisol. 1) Eddie may be interested in dating, but not for something serious. If he does end up with Marisol - a character I’m sure a majority of people didn’t remember from 6A, but was brought back to remain a non-character in 6B - and we’re supposed to, what, care about them? Again I must say woof. 2) If Eddie and Marisol aren’t together at the start of season 7, then… there’s something underwhelming in that too. Although option two would make the most sense, even if I’m like, “yeah….. okay.” about it.
Tl;dr of Buck → Buck got a ton of screen time and a ton of stories, but not a whole lot of it was satisfying, to me at least.
✨ EDDIE
Eddie felt a bit like an afterthought in all of season 6, but it was especially evident in 6A.… But really all of season 6.
I think the story of Chris wanting more independence had potential to be spread out over 6A, rather than truncated into I think just one episode. Show us how Eddie is struggling with Chris’s independence, and show us Eddie trying to figure out what to even do with more time on his hands. More time to not be a dad, so to speak. Hell, bring in Ramon and Helen into all of this.
Ramon got redemption in season 5, but there was nothing for Helen. We know Helen was hard on Eddie too, but so far? She’s gotten a weird free pass. I know this show particularly likes to make troubled relationships with dads (moms too, but majority dads), but they could put a little more focus on the mothers as well. Considering there were a lot of parental stories in season 6 (not all well handled), this was a good opportunity.
I’ve only watched season 6 once, so correct me if I’m wrong, but Eddie’s loneliness really didn’t come into play until something like episode 6x13 or 6x14, right? Even now I still can’t formulate a comprehensive thought, but this aspect and Eddie deciding to date wasn’t handled in a satisfying way. I mean, with the added details and timeline put in about just how young both Eddie and Shannon were with *gestures*, it puts into perspective how little experience Eddie has in dating. And because of this, Eddie, I guess, wants to try out dating? Just for fun?? Okaaay. That could work, that could be something. I just wish it hadn’t been handled so clumsily.
And this is where Marisol comes into it. A person who, at this point, is 1) making Eddie look like a hypocrite because he said trying to date someone you met on a call never ends well, and yet. 2) Marisol is, currently, a blank character. All we know is that she does DIY. That’s it. Her only purpose, at the moment, is just to be a love interest for Eddie, however long it lasts, and that’s boring.
But I guess we were supposed to be happy about Eddie asking Marisol out? I mean, theoretically sure, it’s good to see Eddie putting himself out there, but only the concept is fine. Let’s not forget that the timeline to Eddie calling Marisol is fucked.
Supposedly they met at the hardware store (but originally on a 911 call), and I guess exchanged phone numbers off screen???? Then, idk, a week later the big emergency happens, where Eddie has broken ribs. Now realistically that would have taken 4-6 weeks at least for Eddie’s ribs to heal, otherwise Eddie wouldn’t be able to dance in his living room as we saw. Which means IF he’d waited for his ribs to heal, then both he and Marisol - despite being “excited” to call each other - had waited nearly two entire months to finally call each other? Haha what??????
My point being? Eddie wanting to go off into the dating world story wasn’t handled well, at least not to me. OH, and speaking of Eddie dating.
The last time Christopher found out his dad was dating, he ran to Buck. Now yes Chris has grown since then, but, where’s the through line? Why is Chris perfectly at ease with his dad attempting to date now? Where was the discussion for that between Chris and Eddie?
Side note, which is relevant here, let’s not forget that in 5x2 or 5x3 Eddie said “my kid loves her” about Ana. We never got to see this supposed love beyond a few brief scenes of Chris smiling with Ana in the same room. Mmm yes, I can feel and see the love. On top of that, we never got to see how Chris even felt about Eddie and Ana breaking up. So this is nothing new, the show failing to have connecting scenes for important issues being addressed when it comes to Chris and Eddie. Which is a damn shame because this is such an important relationship in the show, but in some ways has been neglected over the years. Definitely missed opportunities.
With Ana and mother of if all, Eddie had really only dated Ana because it’s what he thought he should do (because of his parents and heteronormative society). He thought he should give Chris - another mother? Okay, well go farther with that. Since Eddie did have a wonderful healing arc in season 5, we could have taken the time to explore both Chris wanting more independence and explore what Eddie wants in a partner in season 6. Season 6 could have then explored and made it clear that Eddie isn’t straight (because we live in a heteronormative world, so gotta “ease” people into saying “hey, not everyone is straight”).
And yes of course I’m going to bring Buck into this, Buddie into this, because disregarding the fact that the 911 folks didn’t know if the show was going to come back or not, they absolutely could have worked through the entire season to build up to Buddie canon. Hell, plenty of people in fandom thought that’s what was happening even after episode 6x01 (and definitely after the end of season 5). After everything in season 5, it’s not irrational or illogical to think the show can 100% have worked on making Buddie canon in season 6.
@lovecolibri made a really wonderful post explaining how the show and those at 911 are essentially “ship baiting” at this point in the game. Not queerbaiting, but ship baiting, which I think is a great term to use for Buddie. Definitely give the post a read.
But no. Instead we got Eddie only showing interest in women, and then calling a woman he and we know nothing about on a date. Okay. Cool. Yes, good for you for putting yourself out there Eddie, but… *helpless shrug*
me looking at Buck: Yep, I sure hope Eddie figures out what he wants in a partner. I hope he figures out he wants someone to always have his back, someone he can be himself with and not pretend. Someone who loves Christopher like he does. I hope he finds someone who he can have fun with and be silly with. Yep, I sure hope he learns that while going on dates with Marisol and whoever else.
— The Buddie of It All —
If they truly wanted to, the writers/TPTB could have made season 6 about Buddie becoming canon in some capacity. Whether that was a love confession, or an acknowledgement of feelings that will clearly lead to more. Hell, the first few episodes absolutely had this fandom believing that is what season 6 was going to do. But it didn’t. 6A was a bit scattered on the Buddie of it all, then 6x10-6x13 was pretty heavy on the Buck/Eddie/Chris aspect, and then there was a hard pivot to, “let’s pair off our super hetero hot guys with some women who are purely love interests.” Nope, nothing to see here.
Like? No matter what stage the people at 911 thought season 6 may be the last, you’re telling me they couldn’t have made Buddie canon work? That the general audience would be disappointed and mad about that? There were 18 episodes to work on bringing Buddie from subtext to canon, again, in some capacity. There were 18 episodes to finally say, “hey, yeah Buck and Eddie? Not straight.” They could have made this work. The fandom at the very start of season 6 thought it could work, as I’ve said, but it wasn’t until nearing the end of 6A and definitely the start of 6B that people had to say, “Oh… well. So they’re not going to work on making Buddie canon because it’s becoming too late now and it would be rushed.”
I am not pointing this out to say anyone has been queerbaiting. No one has. Ship baiting yes, but not queerbaiting. What has been clear since season 2 is that Buck and Eddie have something really special. There are big Buddie shippers for a reason. The groundwork has been laid down for 4 seasons already, so why not take the opportunity now, in season 6? Really, why not? Once again they had the opportunity in 18 episodes to make it make sense, even for the general audience.
✨ CONCLUSION
Season 6 was disappointing overall. As of right now, I do have some trepidation of what’s even going to happen in season 7. I have lost some faith in the writers and TPTB considering what they gave us and how they handled season 6 (yes I understand the cancellation pressure, I’m not saying they weren’t in a tough spot). I haven’t fully given up hope, but……. *sighs* yeah.
