*Cracks knuckles* Did you really think I wouldn't RETURN THE FAVOR- now, what's YOUR favorite Jekyll and Hyde adaptation(Or adaptations)?

Hello, first off thank you so much for this ask! <3 I don't get them everyday, so I'm very happy with how much this blog is growing, little by little.

My top three is quite controversial, but I'd say that my favorite adaptation so far has to be the broadway musical, from which my own adaptation (Apotheosis) takes inspiration; what people don't understand is that an adaptation isn't made to be 1:1 with the original product, especially when the original quite literally doesn't have anything to tell story-wise and is overall a mediocre story with an interesting concept. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the Novella, but I take it for what it is instead of pretending that my interpretation is 100% correct and canon and treating the book as if it were a masterpiece of classic literature, when it isn't— sure, it's a small, enjoyable story which can be interpreted however you want and that's also what makes it appealing to most people— the uncertainity of everything, the fact that we don't know who the reliable narrator is, it's VERY interesting, but it isn't the writing that makes the story, to me. So you see, my disdain for novella fans not only comes from the fact that they're gatekeeping assholes, but also that they insist that their interpretation is the only correct one, when the novella was written PRECISELY to don't have a correct interpretation, at least IMO.

Funniest thing is that they expect Hyde to be a bachelor of morality somehow and not do anything problematic besides murder, because we are so desenitized to violence that apparently now it's something inherently normal (or rather just fandom puritan bullshit), as if this wasn't the literal Victorian Era and the author wasn't a rampaging racist (which is normal for again, the period we find ourselves in. But they are willing to shit on people who attempt to be historically accurate, but when you mention that the dead man they have a parasocial relationship with was racist, and that the original book description of Hyde was IIRC, xenophobic too, they suddenly pull one hundred excuses up from their asses, but only because it's convenient to THEM in that moment).

These people know who I am referring to considering that they "called me out" on their shitty discord server over the 9/11 J&H joke in my description, pfp which was just Christine with a sapphic flag which also makes me presume these people are inherently mysoginistic, and the fact I ship musical Jekyde, sorry for being based I guess. I 100% expect them to see this, and if they do, I have one simple request— get your shit together, you aren't some literary critic, you are like seventeen and a "wrong headcanon" is enough to ruin your day, if not week, fully.

TL;DR Musical takes the first spot, the novella is good albeit mediocre and overrated and its fans are insufferable.

Now, what makes me like the musical if the recorded play wasn't anything special and Hasselhoff's acting atrocious?

The musical was the second adaptation I've watched of J&H, so it's only fair that I am very attached to it, but still recognize its inherent flaws— I don't think however, the musical should be judged because of a bad recording adaptation alone considering the many interpretations we got from other actors (Rob Evans, Robert Cuccioli...) and the simple choreography itself, especially when it was first performed in 1995; all the ideas behind it which in the end didn't make it in the play, are somewhat still there, like Simon Stride basically replacing Lanyon and being an enemy to Jekyll, someone double-faced just like the rest of the governors.

For those who don't know, Stride was supposed to be a main antagonistic figure in the musical, he was the owner of Red Rats and of other several brothels in Kentish Town as stated by Hyde in The Wedding Reception, also described as a green-eyed monster in The Ballad of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the one who performed Good and Evil originally, supposedly when he was collecting money from prostitutes. Since The Spider basically took his role, we also know that Stride is inherently a domestic abuser considering that he hits Lucy on several occasions, other than being Jekyll's contestant for Lisa/Emma as shown in Lisa Carew which literally completely destroys the perception that Lisa completely depends on Jekyll when that's not inherently true. She's underdeveloped yes, but her character is interesting nevertheless, the musical is called JEKYLL AND HYDE, it's normal that it focuses on telling Jekyll's story, because a musical can't be ten hours long. His motivations are inherently unknown, but I suspect that he simply is jealous of Jekyll and overall wanted, like Hyde stated in The Wedding Reception, to put Lisa/Emma in one of his brothels, and he was angry that Jekyll spared her that fate, seemingly.

See? Everything, even if it didn't made it in the final product, it blends in with the background story of the musical's society perfectly, making the world feel alive rather than static like it did in the Novella.

Lisa/Emma is a woman who clearly wants independence, which was something definitely big for the period, considering that the ideal of victorian woman from the conservative classes was that of a frail and submissive lady (which I think it's also seen in the fact that their ideal make up made them look almost as if they were ill due to how pale they were) and the first feminist movements literally simply asked to be beaten up by their husbands less. This is seen in Letting Go and Lisa Carew. She doesn't depend on Jekyll and is stated by her nevertheless, she chose to marry him because she genuinely liked him, and never doubts him even when the big reveal happens. Underdeveloped =/= Bad character.

Lucy, on the other side of the spectrum, is a prostitute, which was the lowest and most hated class you could possibly be a part of. Other than this she's a domestic abuse victim, and the only person who ever considered defending her and showed her kindness, instead of objectifying her even when she was giving him sexual hints, was Jekyll. It's only normal she'd latch onto him; she clearly wants to live a different life and keeps hoping that things will get better for her, because everyone has their day (The Girls of The Night), even when her own best friend (Nellie) discourages her, she keeps hoping. She feels genuinely lost, (Nobody Knows Who I Am) in which it is left implied that she doesn't have anything if not her identity as a prostitute, and that not even her friends (possibly, one of her lines was referred to Nellie) know who she truly is; once, perhaps there were possibilities for her, but that faded because for a prostitute in the victorian era, there's genuinely no hope or respect. Bring on the Men also makes us understand that she's been a prostitute for a very long time now, so who other than she knows this? But yet she keeps hoping, and eventually her prayers get answered. She turns to Jekyll when Hyde first physically harmed her and, she seems very resigned about what has happened to her while Jekyll is horrified, and her emotions led her to kiss him perhaps as a sign of gratitude, and Jekyll didn't refuse, and if I recall correctly that's when Lucy sings Someone Like You and then later on, In His Eyes with Lisa/Emma. If anything, Jekyll is the villain here because he blatantly gave Lucy false hopes, because his actions as Hyde clearly make us perceive that he was only ever kind of her because of lustful reasons, at least IMO. Her world doesn't revolve around Jekyll, we barely see her in the musical quite frankly, and considering what I'm saying and her little screentime, perhaps Lucy is the MOST developed character of the musical. She's tragic— her death truly shows that there wasn't hope for minorities in that society.

Most criticism I saw about the musical is mainly from people who heard things novella fans themselves told which are inherently inaccurate, or from people who perhaps during the songs in let me repeat, A MUSICAL, didn't pay attention.

now, the second spot is taken by Hyde & Seek, I don't have much to say about it because I mainly saw snippets from it but, the motivations are pretty much the same as the musical, the worldbuilding is really good, the characters are funny and memorable, and the art direction is just chefs kiss.

Novella is third.

Here we go- on time, for once- with The French Connections Caper! As I mentioned, this is one of my favorite episodes from season one, because I am a little angst whore.

I love the almost impressed look on shadowsan’s face when he tells her that he’s singing the french national anthem. Like. of course he is

Interesting little detail that chase leans over and spits out the gag while carmen and company are just kind of making quips about him being tortured

I love he some good drunk but not drunk character tropes in cartoons. Drunk adora. Laughing gassed up anne. Sick luz. We didn’t get drunk carmen but we did get drunk chase and you know what I’m fine with that

THE WAY HIS EYES FLICK TO THEM WHEN HE SAYS BILE IS ALWAYS SO FUNNY TO ME

Love how shadowsan doesn’t care at all what happens to chase. He cares about carmen, but he’s still a VILE operative. She’s pretty much the only one he cares about until he’s spent a little while with TR

Mmm the music is so good in this ep as well

Thinking abt how if ivy was controlling red drone and carmen was sneaking off to rescue chase…that was zack in carmen cosplay who was dramatically standing ontop of the roof

The weird little petnames brunt uses for chase are also so funny

I have wanted to edit that shot of shadowsan running and jumping over chimneys onto the dinosaur game for SO LONG

Its cool how different the body types of the carmen decoys are. Its pretty easy to tell who’s who even with their faces not showing

I am shocked that she didn’t check the dumpster because. THATS WHERE I WOULD HAVE LOOKED. I guess she knows carmen’s style well enough- in s3 when they’re talking about catching carmen sandiego 101 zuko and luz mention that part of it was knowing that she always takes the high ground, anakin. And while this is zack the two of them are pretty well trained on carmen’s movements, clearly. They jump across the rooftops and everything just like she does to be convincing

I like the little setup she has there. She brought the electrocuter thing because she had to get the cuffs off, but she uses it in the fight later too

Another little detail in the animation of chase’s sweat dripping to the floor when he falls

That little interaction between the two of them is so cool. Carmen doesn’t know what to expect, or how she can see or anything. OR that she knows exactly who she is

It is a little inconsistent how carmen has so much difficulty dragging him out here…when these three meet again in mexico carmen just shoves him off the wrestling ring and into a chair with very little effort, although that may be evidence of her training and getting stronger over time.

Anyway, I’m exTREMELY excited for this fight. It is SO BRUTAL

THE BENDNG THE METAL IS. GOD

She’s so. Like. hulking??? Its so creepy how she moves, especially when she uses all these little petnames at the same time as she’s cracking her neck

THE CATCH OF HER FOOT IS SO GOOD GOD. brunt KNOWS her and even if she didn’t maybe expect her to have a gun she can catch her move pretty easily. This entire fight is full of brunt catching what carmen is going to do as she does it- except for the time with the taser

GOD the crashing into the chair augh that must have hurt so bad wheeze

Brunt is terrifying. She doesn’t slink around or do any acrobatics. She’s just like a final video game boss that has a tracker on your location and does not stop coming

GOD YEAH SEE. SHE CATCHES CARMEN’S KICK AND THEN JUST S L A M S HER INTO THAT SHELF

Carmen is again so used to the athletic, fast-moving operatives who usually match her in everything but cleverness, or use long distance weapons like paper star does. But brunt….it doesnt matter how smart carmen is when brunt can overpower her and fling her into the concrete like a bug

Goddd you can see carmen thinking about what the hell she can do. She knows strength isn’t going to work, so she has to find something else to distract brunt while she gets her baby taser

It makes sense actually now that the taser doesnt knock brunt out like a crackle rod would. Its meant for disabling hadcuff electronics, not seizing up the muscles of full grown woman

THE DESPERATION ON CARMEN’S FACE AS SHE ELECTROCUTES BRUNT IS SO GOOD. she knows this is not a good situation. She does. This is not her usual fighting style, obviously. She just wants to get out

The SMOKE when carmen gets electrocuted fuck

UNGH i love how different this fight is. Carmen stumbles on the run to the door and THAT is how you know she’s really in trouble. She’s just yanking on it trying to get out at this point. Its more instinct than battle- she’s just clawing at ANYTHING that could help her

And then her coat gets ripped. Every time her coat is off in this show she is not in a good spot. Becauseeee COLOR THEORY!! That red is her sign she’s got a chance, but when it comes off and gets destroyed everything. Is. green. Same thing happens in hot rocks of rio, so look out for that next week. It’s really interesting to notice once you find the patterns

MMGH WHEN SHE CLUTCHES HER SIDE AND THEN HER HAND GETS CRUSHED AND HER EYES WIDEN AND SHE JUST KNOWS

That gasp when she’s down on thr ground will be the death of me. And then the rattling on the grate just. Trying to get away and do ANYTHING to save herself from this person she once called a mother figure its SO angsty god i love it

There were NO breaks in that fight scene until carmen was on the ground with absolutely no choices left. It keeps the emotion UP and TENSE and it is FANTASTIC. We get a break once we cut back to shadowsan and the gang…player telling carmen she just needs to make it a little longer, because the cops are better than being dead

Also. zack just waking up with the banana peel on his head.

Why does player have the individual tracking locations of all the cops in the city

Seaosn one and season two were written and made pretty much at the same time, which was SUCH a strong choice. THIS FINALE sets up ALL OF SEASON TWO and SEASON TWO’S FINALE. AUGH. it is such a fantastic end to the season

I love that carmen gets to learn that it wasn’t this woman who rescued her from “the side of the road” here. She doesn’t have to live with that idea in her head….that she could be saved by the same woman who was trying to kill her

Instead she’s saved again by the one who really cared all along- since the moment he saved her from the fire

Please carmen looks so small on the ground there its so scary to watch

God that returning to vile island is for carmen a fate worse than death is so. Its so

Ive always been frustrated with carmen for not. I dont know. Lying?? Saying ok sure ill go back fine to buy herself some time, so that the cops could come in and help her. But i get it. Yknow?? Carmen isn’t that person. But boy would that have prevented a lot of the rib breakage that is about to go down

God. how limp carmen is in that moment. She flinched away when brunt goes to touch her face, but she just looks. Kind of regretful. She doesn’t really, i think, expect what is about to happen. She just thinks brunt is going to bat her around some more..

Also. how limp carmen is when brunt pulls her into the “hug” is also so scary. GOD i don’t know if its because she’s trying to prepare herself or if she’s in so much pain or if its because some part of her still trusts brunt

That tragic look almost into the camera when she realizes what brunt is doing is HAUNTING i love that sm

This is so dark btw. The foreshadowing way back in episode two for this when brunt hugs her so hard that she feels something crack to now, when that motherly role has twisted into. This

That last gasping breath carmen takes is another one thats just so. Augh. she is really and truly about to die

God the knowledge that at some point carmen just closed her eyes and let it happen because there was nothing else she could do is. What the fuck. Or maybe she just couldn’t breathe enough anymore to keep them open

SHADOWSAN!!

THE WAY SHE SCRAMBLES BACK AS SOON AS BRUNT GOES LIMP IS. god i love that shot. She’s so. Worn down at that point she’s more like a wild animal than anything ig. Just trying to get away get away get away

And then the way she, still gasping for breath and her voice choked with pain, insults shadowsan because her voice is the only defense she has against him right now

Pls i love shadowsan he doesn’t know how to not be intimidating. Running at her with a sword. “I did not come here to take you back.” this moment scared me SO BAD when i was 13 watching this for the first time. I expected it to cut back to her lying on the floor with some grevious injury, maybe to be narrowly saved by her team but frantically rushed to the hospital or something.

The shadowsan twist is one of the best I think I’ve seen. Its set up and foreshadowed, enough that you could maybe see it coming on first and have all those little “ohh” moments on later watches. When you really step back and say, “what is the consequence of shadowsan doing all of this?” its carmen being able to escape and not becoming a vile operative. Its. yeah. I dont know. Its so good

AUGH the fear on her face. He steps over coach’s pretty much lifeless body, draws his sword. All she has is a fucking wrench

Player gripping his monitor and screaming her name is SO,, UNGH HE THINKS SHE’S DEAD

And the way they cut back with just the limp bodies around them, as shadowsan sheathes his blade. They knew what they were doing obviously

MM AND THEN THE LITTLE CHIME OF CARMEN’S MOTIF WHEN WE SEE THAT SHE’S ALIVE AND SAFE

THAT IS A QUESTION pls i’ve made fun of shadowsan here before because like. Yes. please do follow me into the dark hole no questions asked. I Will Not Stab You once we are at a more convenient and private location that you have moved yourself to. Or transport you back to VILE. just trust me okay carmen follow me right now

LOCK US UP,,, YEAH. REACH US. i love that little…its so small. The us and the little admission of how VILE works (hey- also sets up season THREE’s finale. wild). Yes yes yes.

I love how shadowsan doesn’t want to admit it. But they have been in it together

GOD YEAH AND THEN. SHE DROPS THE WRENCH and THATS how you know she trusts him, and understands. Thats her last line of defense gone

“It was you….you were the one who found me.”

“YOU ARE IN NO CONDITION TO LEAVE HERE ON YOUR OWN” i love how shouty he is in this season he doesn’t have a gentle voice. He doesnt really. Know how to be vulnerable

But he tries. He tries so hard. He just. He says please and reaches out to her

That mass of flashing lights in the city is such a good way to show how far they went. Also. why did shadowsan make carmen walk like three miles with her fucked up ribs wheeze. He made her climb some stairs and everything

But he’s soooo gentle with her when they’re walking its so sweet. He lets her lean on him and helps her down to the ground so she can rest…makes sure she is safe before he says anything else and tries to get her medical attention. He is the dadowsan

Ungh gina. Gina gina please. Please put any kind of emotion into “argentina tell me everything now” like thats KIND of an emotional line..,, urgh. The problem i have with gina i think is that she is a fine ACTOR but being a VOICE ACTOR is a LOT DIFFERENT THAN THAT. she doesnt have all her little nice facial expressions and stuff she has carmen who is already inexpressive as is. So when she says that line it just sounds so flat

He’s only lying about it a little bit, really honestly

Carmen sounds so much like black sheep when she says “i knew it” and I love that so much. I don’t know if that was a directing choice given to gina but it was a good one. Also carmen forgetting her ribs are fucked up lmaoo

FIRST SHADOWSAN SMILE WHEN HE SAYS HE KNWS CARMEN WOULD ENJOY PROVING THAT TO HERRR that is the moment i think when he really becomes human :)))

I guess i scare easy when i see a drawn sword is such a good line its so funny. i would too! Maybe he didnt have to extend the ruse all the way until he was a mile away from the school and no one was in sight except carmen herself but alright

God i cant believe we’re already done with season one!! I am SO EXCITED for season two- its my favorite out of all of the seasons and its where things REALLY get juicy. We’ve got the setup and standard formula out and we can start playing around with dynamics, backstories, history, new cast, lore, character development…yes yes yes yes yes i am so excited!!!

Love this episode, solid and fantastic end to a seaosn, which cs finales usually are. Alright- with the feeling that I’m going to have more capers to react to, this is me signing off of season 1 for cs weekly!!

It sort of angers me that people assume anyone who hates on Allison in season 3 is racist or mysoginist because they don't judge other characters with the same standards, people usually are very impartial with how they judge fictional characters but it's usually because of other reason two characters might do equally bad stuff but people will defend the one who is more likeable and relatable to them regardless of racial or gender related prejudices. Now there is a possibility that some of the people who hate on her are like that but until they make a clearly racist or mysoginistic comment there is no proof, and accusing people of something like that without proof is wrong imo.

Another thing, something i really didn't like about how she was written in season 3 was how little of regret or empathy she showed, i know she was caught in her anger but it looked like she only loved Ray and Claire and not her sibilings, not even once she regretted hurting them and Luther for example was never responsible for her pain unlike Viktor, she should have felt sorry for taking advantage of him, it felt out of character. I love Allison's character and a negative arc was what i wanted from her but i'm still not sure if i liked how it was done or not

One of the basic skills people are supposed to be taught in school is metacognition. Thinking about how you think. What part of my thoughts about this come from the author? What internal biases am I bringing into this? What am I extrapolating from the text explicitly and what am I extrapolating from my own life experience?

100% of people on this planet, without exception, have implicit biases. People who are harsher on Allison because of her race aren't usually aware that that's one of the reasons they have a double standard with her. They're not white supremacists. Most of them aren't even bad people. Implicit bias isn't something you don't have if you're a good enough person--being a good person means checking yourself to see if your perception is being changed by your biases.

So on the one hand, yes, it's a far more widespread problem than I think you're giving it credit for. On the other, people absolutely overreact, both to witnessing bias and to being called out for it. If you're subconsciously judging a black character more than a white character and someone catches you on the internet, you're likely to be called a Nazi even if you don't know you're doing it. That will make anyone scared of the accusation. But then when you're called out for it, you're afraid that this would make you a terrible person if it were true, so you push back and deny it. This shuts down the vital conversation white people in particular need to be having with each other about implicit bias. Or, to put it more succinctly, everyone's a little bit racist sometimes.

Now, here's the thing about expecting Allison to show regret and empathy immediately after getting angry: it's not realistic to expect of someone IRL, either. They will take more than two days to get around to that. And that's how little time it has been for Allison.

Moreover, regret and empathy have been her reactions to things so prominently so far that it has become downright unhealthy for her. Regret and empathy were her reactions to having her throat slit by Viktor. She woke up from nightmares often enough for Ray to know exactly how to talk her down from her panic attack over losing her voice (and trust me, nocturnal panic attacks are a fucking trip). She suffered so many psychological consequences from what Viktor did to her, all while insisting Viktor should suffer none. It's about damn time she got angry on her own behalf. Not that she should stay there forever, obviously.

See, people who have been traumatized go through the stages of grief. Allison was in denial for the first two seasons. Now, she's in the anger phase. This is actually a healthy development for her because she is finally moving forward. Expecting her to shake off her anger and have regret and empathy again is, at this point, asking for her to backslide. She does not have the psychological resources to lift up both herself and her siblings right now. She needs to focus on her own recovery. The faster she does that, the faster she can move forward and get to a place where she can have healthy relationships with her siblings again.

Being in the anger phase can look like deterioration from the outside, but really, it's just admitting that something should not have happened to you and letting yourself react to it emotionally. We didn’t see these stages in Five or Klaus because they were already progressed beyond that by the time canon picked up. No, it's not fun to be helping a loved one through it. No, she should not have done some of the things she did. But also, PTSD is basically a brain injury. She's not going to act normal. This is not her true self. This is just the reality of how messy and unpretty the consequences of trauma really are.

gone with the wind is so boring. i’ve been reading it for like 3 months and i’m only 30% through… i would give up on it except my mom and sister have been on my back about reading it for yeeearrrsss. i promised i’d read so we could watch the movie together but omg it’s a struggle. detest the way it’s written. sosososo boring. half of it is just descriptions of like the unfolding of the civil war. except it’s somehow only the boring details too? and from the perspective of the side fighting for their right to own slaves? am i supposed to root for that or what? the rest is the author narrating what the characters are feeling and doing instead of showing us what’s happening. and only a teeenyyy bit of dialogue. the prose is inconsistent with the character i feel like (if scarlett is uninterested in war and clueless about what’s happening, why do i have to read so much excruciating detail about it? shouldn’t the book show us HER perspective on the war? if i wanted to find out all that stuff i’d read a history textbook. i’d get the same effect.) i find it so heartless and unarousing. rhett is a gross and scumy man. what do you mean he grins like a feline and looks at (teenage) scarlett like he knows what she looks like without clothes on??? the whole book is…mysoginistic. and where is the romance i was promised??? where is the drama? so far it’s just exhausting and boring boring boring. only thing i kinda like is ashley and the whole drama between him and scarlett and melanie but so far that’s been like fifteen percent of what i’ve read and not even that is written that well. is any of this gonna change??? or am i supposed to read 700 more pages of this. cuz it’s making me a little crazy.

I was ranting about my nephew to a close male friend who was offering help, and realized i should probably share here as i think im not shadowbanned anymore.

My 6 year old nephew has always had speaking delays. He didnt speak more than babbles until recently and now he speaks like a 2 year old trying to get accustomed to speaking, rather than a kindergardener. His mom, my cousin & his dad, have a very unhealthy relationship that is very visible to my nephew. They also work alot, and slapped a ipad in his hands at age 3, with no supervision. It was little things at first, really. His behavior worse, getting porn-bot viruses on his ipad, throwing tantrums and angry when asked, but nobody ever checked his history. Went through his device. Nothing. It isnt my place as he isnt my child and i rarely see him, but now hes 6 and its almost scary how he can function, talk (barely) walk around and do tasks while staring at his ipad. I dont think ive seen him without it for awhile.

I passed by him from behind a few months ago and he was watching a youtube about pregnant Elsa being beat by Spiderman.

He gets "___ 1 mile away!" type pornographic ads popping up every few months that his dad fixes, but he never says anything about them. They only are fixed when his dad sees them himself and decides to.

He'll slap my ass, grab my tits, hit me in the face, same with my female cousins & other women. He resorts to physical violence almost every single time he is denied what he wants

He reconized Andrew Tate and starting shouting and repeating his name.

Hes called me a "Karen" for asking him to not do certain things in public.

He shoved soap down a girls mouth in his kindergarden class. Soap. Walked out of the bathroom with it and did it to the first girl in sight.

He screams, hits, insults. He can barely speak yet all he speaks is hate and all he does is violence.

My friend is aware of this all, and hes a big fan of discipline as he grew up in a military household & made sure to tell me he believes i shouldnt do anything here. This child is not my responsibility, im not close with his mother or father, and i see him a handful of times throughout the year. I agree, i can avoid him enough and i dont think its my place to parent him but i feel large amounts of guilt about how i feel about him,

I hate him. He annoys me whenever hes being as normal as he can be and he infuriates me when hes being a mysoginistic shithead. I feel bad just typing this. Calling a child a mysoginistic shithead when he was really just a stunted child given unmonitored internet access and seeing how his mother is treated in life. But i do

I hate him and he makes me uncomfy. He infuriates me. As i am typing this hes screaming at the top of his lungs because he got caught cheating/lying while playing Uno and hes crying and screaming at my younger cousin. Shes 16.

Seeing him makes me lose hope in the future. Whatever progress i feel is made is undone in my mind whenever i face this child.

he’s in my bottom two of the nuwho doctors but only bc I love the others so much! i love him too :) I find his relationship to anger really compelling as well as his more paternal traits? (I love how he acts w kids and sometimes with amy, like the forehead kisses and the calming touches they’re all soooo parent-like and it’s so sweet and also extremely sad) his position as the youngest face but one of the oldest-feeling of the doctors is fascinating to me like matt smith how are you doing that :/

i think he was let down a little by some of moffats mysoginistic writing, esp when it comes to his relationship w river song. some of that is just hard to watch unfortunately </3

HELLO THERE!!! Trying to cope with OR UNDERSTAND Adam's death? The denial and "what ifs" just get stronger?!?!?!?

Me too tbh I'm fucking miserable

BUT!!!! YOU WILL FIND OUT THAT THIS SHITHEAD COMING BACK IS ACTUALLY MORE PLAUSIBLE THAN YOU THINK! (W.O.W!!!!)

I actually also have some pretty solid theories about season 2 in here so be warned.

(This is a bit different from my usual goofy post I might delete this and separate into parts since I talked about too much)

VIVZIEPOP MADE A COUPLE STATEMENTS THAT COULD BE GAME-CHANGING AND WON'T LEAVE US GRASPING AT STRAWS ANYMORE. I'LL DISCUSS EVERY GROUND THERE IS TO COVER AND EVERY COPIUM THERE IS TO INHALE, AT THE MOMENT!! (Might update this or make a new post if more comes out)

Ok so to start this off, don't be put off by this person's perspective, just listen to me. Vivzie talked to this fan at megacon and got asked if Adam was still alive, all she said was "he lives on in a way", I'm gonna take my delulu aside and the most pessimistic guess would be that someone (pfff lute obviously)avenges him or that his death has an everlasting impact that changes the story, BUT we already got that made clear, like that was pretty obvious already.

(It's made obvious by this scene, Adam's death created a whole other big problem)

(Unless what she means by it is that his death is honored? Like maybe we get to delve deeper into his history, but again i dont think so) SO I DONT THINK THATS IT, I feel like if it was either of the ones I mentioned she would just say "Nope, he's deceased BUT he lives on in a way" But ALL she said was "He lives on in a way" which is very different, although it could be she expressed herself badly or the person writing the tweet didn't quote it word for word. But taking it in the literal sense, this might be pretty much confirmation he lives. There's a way he lives right? So considering that.... could it be that after Lute took his halo,(which was also broken which often renders an angel as "fallen" by default) and left his body there, he just... like woke up as a sinner? Yes yes, I know everyone's been talking only about that, I'm not giving any groundbreaking revelations but I'm just saying that there's alot of options that open up to that possibility. Or who knows! What if he actually doesn't get reincarnated? What if he just wakes up with no halo, so no place to come back to or what if the ever-absent God takes notice of his death and fixes up his first loyal creation?

Besides that if they THINK Adam is dead, (hesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdeadhesnotdead)

They make these huge ass changes in tactics, and need to find another way to deal with what Charlie is doing; IF Adam actually becomes a sinner, and his life is super important to heaven... with evidence that sinners can now be redeemed... What if people like LUTE, or LILITH actually become allies of the hotel in an effort to redeem him? He WAS God's first, most loyal and favorite creation, HELL THE REASON HE WAS ALLOWED TO DO WHATEVER HE WANTED AND WAS BASICALLY IMMUNE TO THE LAW IN HEAVEN IS BECAUSE OF HOW MANY PRIVILEGES HE HAS, I don't think God would be too pleased with his soul dissipating or whatever the fuck. That might actually be a plot point, he's way too important to just be killed off like this, am I the only one who got that impression? He's the FIRST MAN, first man, the first man being THE FIRST TO DIE IN THIS SHOW IS ABSOLUTELY MIND-FUCKING AND ALSO A CRUEL JOKE anditskindafunny OF FATE FOR HIM.

Something else I want to add is that my personal take on it is that if I learned anything about this show, Lilith will show up in the next season and pretend to be an ally to the hotel, she will pretend to support Charlie and basing this off the theory that Alastor made a deal with Lilith to keep her daughter safe, he failed to meet the end of his deal. So now she's coming to take matters into her own hands after all these pesky men failed, (ermmm girlboss!!) Stop, and manipulate everyone in the hotel into giving up on the idea. Considering how she deliberately kept Charlie away from her dad her whole life, there's gonna be a whole lot of family drama. And we might see Alastor lose his shit for good. Still tryna figure out wtf does "Lilith thrived and empowered demonkind with her voice" if her voice is that powerful, and her words are just as powerful, we're gonna get 1. FIRE ASS SONGS 2. Mother Gothel ass song with Charlie, I just know it holy shit. Not to mention that they actually don't know that Sir Pentious went to heaven, Lilith definetely will know and won't tell anyone. Lucifer will definetely be the one to step up in the situation yet again. Anyway after I yapped my heart out about what I think will happen in this show, I just wanna say one thing.

There is this DUMBASS thing everyone in the fandom is talking about when someone says Adam is gonna be reborn as a sinner. "He is not gonna come back because he was killed with an angelic blade and Pentious was not" That is the most stupid bullshit I've ever read and if you genuinely believe it for a second, i feel sorry for u cuz how did your brain go and make this correlation?

Most of these people say that the show explicitly stated that Angelic metal SPECIFICALLY and just if it's metal, it can castrate a soul or whatever. Which is literally NOT true, at no point was it established that Angelic steel was the only thing able to exorcise demons. You really need just a bit of common sense to come to this conclusion, what makes the weapons dangerous for demons and angels isn't that they're steel specifically. It's that they're ANGELIC guys.. Have y'all seen Helluva boss at all?

There are blessed ropes, Angelic guns, Angelic bullets. These are just items that replicate the power of Holy magic. A PURE,HUGE, HOLY BEAM of unfiltered angelic power is not stronger than a little dagger infused with a fraction of it? Not only does that not make sense from the show's lore perspective, but using common SENSE that sounds even dumber. This is the only argument I can completely scratch off the lists of why Adam can't come back, and it's the most popular one...

Man you know what guys, after he died, whether he comes back or not, he's never gonna be the same again I just can't picture it. He's gonna be much more insecure, without a mask and not funny and goofy............. Or he is just gonna come back and go full joker. He just cant possibly keep being a light-hearted dark humor andrew tate stan after the most, first immature man in history pulled a gentle smile like that. That just can't be, like take a look at the way he always smiles to the last smile we saw him have.

THAT IS A CHANGED MAN YALL, THATS ANOTHER ENTITY 😭

I HIGHKEY DONT WANT HIM TO GET A REDEMPTION ARC EITHER :(( MAN WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DETHRONE THE LITTLE GUY, THEY RUINED EVERYTHING. One small little theory floating in my mind was that, what if the news of Adam being dead could result in some powerful overlord or even A SIN we've never seen or know the power of, revive him and have him work under them? Even if he actually comes back as a sinner, this little theory I haven't brainstormed much about could be explored.

But y'all know what? Let's say he's dead okay? Let's say he's dead dead, then what did they do with his BODY? I didn't see anyone dig him a grave, yet he died on the hotel, I didn't see anyone even move his body after the angels left. And we know damn well they didn't take him, that's too much of a big detail to leave it out unless they REALLY screwed up with the writing and animation direction in the rush to have the serie come out, but the animation has always been so detailed with almost unnecessary background details. I think they left it out intentionally to have that worked out in season 2, heard some people say it could be they just built the hotel over his body? But I doubt it. If so maybe he could become part of the hotel or just condemned to never leave the hotel in a.... a... ghooooost.... like form...?(Massive amounts of copium). Someone could argue his body just dissolved or something but 1. That makes no sense pookie 2. In the first episode they found the body of the dead exorcist long after it died, and we definetely know atleast it's head was still perfectly intact by episode 3. AND i also went back to check, after Lute takes the Halo they purposefully never show Adam's body, ONCE. Not once, not even as they show all the corpses on the ground as the exorcists depart. So that couldn't be it, one thing we know for sure is that Vivzie is definetely letting on there's something more to his death she doesn't want to reveal yet. It could be she's doing that just to leave it ambiguous to delusional theorists like myself,,,,,since my type of stupid is usually the kind of idiocy infectious enough to rot everyone's brain into pointless speculation based on minor details. Which definetely sells the show better AND keeps discourse and attention alive till more is fed to us, which in that case, very effective marketing strategy at the cost of everyone's mental health Viv! Good job, the prospect you might be giving us false hope cuz its good for business is really making me reconsider signing the christian mom petition to make Amazon prime cancel tis' demonic blasphemous show. (And yes that is a serious threat, I will even fund the petition with 100 euros watch what you write, i don't want any mammon ass marketing tactics pls)...... or... she just doesn't wanna spoil the surprise and im reading too much into it... BUT YOU NEVER KNOW OK?? I NEED TO EXPLORE EVERY SINGLE POSSIBILITY AND NOT LEAVE ONE UNCOVERED. NOT TO MENTION THERE IS MORE THAT PROVES ITS NOT OUT OF THE WINDOW FOR HIM TO MAKE A COMEBACK CUZ ALEX BRIGHTMAN(Adam's va) ANNOUNCED HE WILL BE IN SEASON 2. and I know he voices Sir Pentious too,(insane range btw wtf) but like i said if they're keeping it a surprise (Thats been pretty much confirmed, Vivz refuses to give too many details so she obviously wants to keep us guessing, which would be cruel if it was for nothing, and i think she knows would leave fans very disappointed) the possibility of Adam still being present in the show could work out.

The main idea behind Altie is that she's some sort of 'cleaner' working for the Yakuza with some "Pinch" of occupational hazard going on...

THO LEMME EXPLAIN THAT BIT LATER. She's very lucky in the sense that she got noticed by the kumicho of her actual family simply bc of her physical prowess and her ability to adapt to absolutely anything, as well as the fact that she was all alone in the world (both literally and figuratively). A disposable existence who had nobody basically!! She initially fled the fall of the soviet union after a certain event and worked as a sailor on merchant watercrafts and one of them brought her to Japan since it traded with... Shady People ... oop..

By physical prowess i mean that. she's STRONG AS FUCK. literally 6'4ft tall bear of a woman!!!!!!! wow!!!!! u ever seen a lady so huge before???!! SHE STICKS OUT IN A CROWD SO DAMN MUCH BRO!!!!! SHES RELAXED AS HELL and has huge big sis vibes and adores taking care of people since the bôsôzoku that ended up joining the yakuza would automatically be put under her charge (both bc shes good at this but also bc of mysoginistic reasons<3 the kumicho's son is insane.. anyway those young boys are her soft spot she's like. mother dog.). In the end, being a part of the jp criminal underworld gave her more freedom than before, she climbed the ranks with a lot of ease since her loyalty is born from gratitude and it's one of the strongest forms. She literally cannot betray her superiors, she can't do it.

... AND. this might be her downfall somewhat. It's a form of trauma when u think about it... ohoho... she's absolutely not perfect despite her initial kindness and this is something i need all of my ocs to have ? Like, back then, my previous main OC Venus was a MEAN GIRL like REGINA type mean girl but she got her ass handed to her and grew. Altair has been getting her ass handed to her since forever so she's used to bowing to superiors but this ended up ... making some sort of INTENSE anger grow inside of her?......... and let's say that... uhhh................... the only way she found how to properly cope with her need of an ounce of control in her life, her fucked up childhood, abuse and mistreatment from a certain someone in the family as well as ... THE EVENT that led her to flee her home country is........ well......

butchering up people hannibal style and justifying it by saying that shes riding her fam of some pests....................<3 but the problem is that she goes too far.

IS SHE INSANE??? PERHAPS. THERES DEF A FEW SCREWS LOOSE UP THERE!!!!!!! SHE SNAPPED LONG AGO!!!!!!!!!!

she's an interesting character i want to dev even further because i want to see how a killer with empathy would be able to hold on living with such huge amounts of guilt lost in the thrill of the killings!!! did she end up enjoying herself bc she had to cope or bc she truly likes it ? (STRAPS HER TO MY VIVISECTION TABLE) this is my 80s slasher movie aesthetic speaking btw. IF THIS IS HARD TO GET, I MADE A LIL GUIDE

Art Thieves Must Be Eradicated

Okay, I can't believe this will be my first post to tumblr, but it's bothering me so much that I want to get it out somehow.

I understand that we have different perceptions of art theft. However, I want to make a point clear that if you are using someone else's art, stuff or property without permission and refuse to comply to any request that requires you to give the property back, refrain from using it or give credit to an artist properly, etc, I count that as theft. I know there are also people who try to defend their actions by saying, "If they don't want people taking their stuff, they shouldn't put it in public." Yeah, well, we put Mona Lisa to the public, but that doesn't mean people can just take it and leave. Plus, that is equivalent to a rapist or a mysoginist saying, "Well, if you don't wanna be raped, then you shouldn't have look so hot in public." I can wear any clothing in public, but that doesn't mean I would be okay for someone to just steal my clothes. It's a dumb excuse.

The reason why I brought this up is because of my experience WITNESSING an art theft.

There is a youtube voice actor named Israel's Night Time Voice Audios ASMR. He had a series where it has this mafia plot and I thought the story was interesting so I got intrigued to listen to the series. However, 4 episodes in, you have to continue the series in his own website, not youtube.

This website acts as if it's his own patreon, it's almost like a member-only website and there are videos that you can play only if you pay for it. Now, when I looked for the series, in his thumbnail, he used a character art on 4 videos. And this art is from an artist who said they don't want other people to use their art for anything, whether it be for role-playing, repost, videos, etc.

I commented to Israel and I told him not to use it because the artist doesn't want people to do so. I told him I like his stuff but I don't want him to use art when the artist does not give permission. He says he didn't know the artist and he used it because there were other who do the same thing. So I told him then next time, to be safe, try to research the artist of the art that you would use in your thumbnails so you wouldn't have any misunderstandings about being an art thief.

But OH BOY, little did I know that I will found out that this was no misunderstanding.

He then say it is impossible to research every artist of the arts he uses in his videos. While I agree with him on this one, this just lead to the question of why not just don't use it then? I've seen youtubers who used art because they know they got permission from the artist and they would take down any video when they found out the art was stolen. And for those of you who want to say, "but there are others who are doing the same", that's not a good excuse. If you know it's not good thing to do, don't do it, otherwise, you're the asshole here. But either way, he then said he will change it soon, he said after his dinner. So I thought things will be okay and settled.

When I checked the next day, it was still there. I thought he forgot, so I reminded him. 2 or 3 days later, I reminded him AGAIN. Keep in mind, I have not call him a thief or anything, nor insult him or bash him for not removing it yet. But he responded angrily, and tells me that this will be my last comment, saying he is doing it out of good faith even though Youtube doesn't require him to do anything, and said that it is on his to do list and he will take them down.

Now, if any of you want to say I was pushy, that's fine, I agree. However, Israel does not have a right to police me or anyone from reminding him to take down arts, that he used without permission, ESPECIALLY when he promised to do so in a specific time.

Him also saying, "I'm doing it out of good faith because youtube is not even asking me to take it down", is NOT a good defense. He's essentially saying, "Listen, I'm a good person and you should feel lucky that I'm doing this because I'm SUCH a good person." Shut the fuck up, I beg of you.

Also, him saying Youtube doesn't tell him to do anything, yeah, no shit, bruh. BECAUSE IT'S NOT EVEN ON YOUTUBE, it's in YOUR members-only website, WHERE YOU CAN MAKE MONEY from these videos. Youtube won't do anything because it's not within their power or it's not happening in their territory. Meaning if you don't wanna take it down, the artist won't have any power to put in a copyright claim, BECAUSE IT IS YOUR WEBSITE.

Also, how long does it take to just change your thumbnail?

Months later.....It's. Still. There.

It's clear now that he told me to back off, in hopes that I will forget about it and he can secretly still use the art. So he lied, didn't have the decency to ask permission before using someone else's stuff, didn't even bother to at least give credit when I told him who the artist was, and he tried to act as if he was in any right to tell someone to back off when he is in the wrong.

It was one thing to say it is impossible to research every artist of the arts you use and basically just saying you don't wanna do it at all, but then to lie to sneakily still use it after being told that you are not allowed to, you're really asking for a fight there. I’m not gonna bother commenting to him again, cuz I know either he will ignore, tell me to shut up again, or block me from his channel.

Anyways, that is the whole story, I’m sorry that this has to be my first tumblr post but yeah, stuff happens. The reason why I’m so mad at this is because, I've seen art theft a lot and some is way worse than this. The whole thing piss me off, even though I’m not an artist myself, but because of people like this, I’m afraid of posting art in public. I made a fanart of Twisted Wonderland uniforms but I'm weary of sharing them because of this, even though I really want to. And I've seen these entitled assholes who would go far to even erase an artists' signature.

Thanks for reading, and remember, respect artists' demands with their art. Even though some are made public, that doesn't mean you have the right to do whatever you want to them.

I'm kind of new in the CW fandom, and can't managed to read Karen Traviss, but I see bad opinions about her books. Please, could you explain a little more? Thanks!

I don’t know if I’m the best person to ask this, since I still haven’t finished the novels, so I couldn’t give you a fully accurate answer, but, I can tell you what I think about what I’ve read so far.

First of all, painfully cishet, so with all the tropes and sterotypes this brings. Maybe it wouldn’t bother me so much if I wasn’t a Mean Gay(TM) but I am, so it bothers me quite a lot. It doesn’t help that Traviss is a terf, and as much as one can say separate the art from the artist, the entire vibes of the books make me go “ah yes, it was clearly written by a terf”. Only a terf could be a woman and a rampant mysoginist at the same time.

Secondly, Traviss is very obviously anti Jedi and pro Mandalorians, which ends up with her greatly misinterpreting the Jedi so that she can tell you how better the Mandalorians are. For her, the only good Jedi are her OCs, which to me sounds like something Moffatt would say, and that’s not a compliment at all. You must really be an asshole to dismiss everything someone else created in order to say “only my stuff is good”.

For someone who considers herself so “pro clones” she also seems to do the same thing she does for the Jedi, as in only her ocs are actually deign of note. Also I don’t know what she has against ARC troopers, but she always dunks on them, unless it’s the Null-ARCs which are basically another kind of ARC that she came up with, so it’s still a “only my ocs are good” territory.

Last thing, everything about Kal Skirata, fervent anti-Jedi mysoginist (in a “it’s your fault, female Jedi, for getting pregnant by having sex with a clone, because you should’ve known better, so I’m gonna abuse you and make it so that you’ll be terrified of me and also the kid once they’re born won’t be yours but mine” way) that says stuff that should make any sensible read go wtf are you talking about (the pregnacy one is just one of the many bullshittery he says), but he’s treated by the narrative as a flawless paragon of virtue, which I hate. I’m not against him being that way, because characters can and should have flaws, but I hate that he gets away with all everything he says or does. Even the Jedi ocs, which remember, for Traviss are the only good Jedi, are basically mindless idiots who blindly follow what Skirata says. If he suffered more consequences for the way he is, I would’ve been fine with him, but I guess I couldn’t expect that from what is basically the author’s self insert.

I mean, I don’t know what I expected from someone who thinks that Order 66 is the Big Moment of clone rebellion, and sure you might argue that at the time the stuff with the chips wasn’t a thing yet, but if you think that clones being so blindly loyal to orders that they wouldn’t even think about what they’re doing, you know, like a droid would, is a good thing... I guess you do you, but at that point I would ask myself why would you care so much about characters like that.

Idk, I’m just so disappointed that the clone centric content in all SW canon is this, and even then I wouldn’t know if calling it clone centric would be right, since once Skirata appears he kinda steals the show, but oh well. I’m sad that if you want more clone centric stuff you either have to watch CW which, in the end, isn’t that clone centric at all except for maybe 2 or 3 arcs, the Bad Batch show, which seems to be framed as “The Special Ones VS The Faceless Meat Droids”, so clone centric but only if you are Special, and these books.

If you look around the repcomm tag, you’ll surely find more detailed posts about this by people who have finished the books, which is something that I actually recommend you if you want to get a clearer picture.
