Does anyone have any tips to help stop yourself from comparing your artwork to others, or equating your value as an artist with likes and reblogs?
I've struggled with this for a while and it's getting old, I don't know how to just shrug it off. Any genuine advice would be nice

weirdly rly motivated to work out today let's go
#well its not that weird i like exercise but ive just been finding it difficult the past week. but hyped this morning#gonna do this bike loop should be 1.5-2 hours. and then if i still have juice left when i get back ill do 40 mins of triceps too#one great thing abt getting into working out is that it becomes self motivating after a while. partly bc its associated w reward#either like literal reward (protein shake) or emotional (satisfaction + endorphin/neurotransmitter release)#but also bc some days i dont rly wanna and then ill think hm but my arms do look rly good today.. and then im like Well-#the health benefits of exercise and whatever are great but thats never been enough to push me to do it by itself#like lets be real. most of my drive comes from getting a kick out of feeling and looking strong...#nothing wrong w being a bit vain tho 😚 i think the most crucial thing if u wanna integrate exercise into ur life more is being honest-#abt what u wanna get out of it most. and adjusting ur attitude to it around that in a positive way#ur never gonna stick to an exercise routine if ur motivating urself w negativity and shame and talking urself down#or at least its never worked for me! maybe it does for some ppl tho lol#anyway im procrastinating now cuz i have to take the front wheel off my bike to carry it downstairs which is an annoying task#but just imagining a dyke seeing the bike grease on my hands and sweat on my arms and getting flustered... okay yeah im going now#.diaries

a question related to your post about hitting your ugw, do you have any big regrets about your weight loss process in particular or advice you'd give to your past self (or someone with similar goals)? and, since most of us are at least partially motivated by the idea of being less of a target for negative attention if we get thinner, would you say hitting your ugw actually made your life easier socially or just came with different problems?
First of all I’ll make a separate post on my advice and what helped me get to my ugw, but as for my regrets on my journey; I regret eating the way I did. I was vegetarian at the time and ate a lot of very processed vegetarian food and meat substitutes, which is not good for you, and lacks nutritional value. I also drank a lot of caffeine. I will not be doing any of that this time around as my health got greatly affected last time.
I would also say I regret not being more mindful of others, how my 3d behaviour affected others. Others seemed like they weren’t prone to this behaviour so I could say whatever I wanted and talk bad about myself or food around them. It’s extremely egotistical to think this way bc any small thing you say can affect someone negatively. So this time around I will keep all food and self hate chat to myself and those that specifically ask. I am not a victim and shouldn’t feel sorry for myself. All that does is make my behaviour towards others distasteful, pathetic and non-compassionate.
As for how it affected my social life: I’d say it created a different problem. Food became such a central theme that I neglected my mental health and my relationships, so they collapsed. I also felt like everyone around me either seemed envious, lustful or worried, which none of those were pleasant. I felt like I was constantly being worriedly watched over by the people around me or just judged/envied by them. It was isolating. People assume you can take more shit, at they same time they feel sorry for you (or pretend to). It’s a weird thing. I found people made wayyy more comments (negative & positive) abt my body when I was underw8 compared to overw8. No one would talk about my looks when I was overw8. I was at school at the time so the social dynamics didn’t really change THAT much as we all had established relationships. But you will find people that are worth keeping, that really are there for YOU, not ur body. Those are the keepers.
PS: Don’t talk shit abt food or ur body in front of other people that don’t ask for it. It’s egotistical and you can seriously damage someone, even if they don’t say it bothers them. Just don’t do it. Don’t infect other people.

NSFW Alphabet- Fierce Deity Edition
And the winner of the poll (Which isn't technically over) is, in a surprising turn of events, Fierce! Sage had the lead for a while and then it was Legend, and then the man himself pulled ahead!
I was watching it the whole time while writing this like "you better not change."
Tumblr media
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
He's the silent broody type, but every touch of his is startlingly soft. But he's pretty good at aftercare, all things considered! He's probably the type to have a set routine that he goes through each and every time. A wipe down and then a bath and then probably letting you lay on his chest while he towel dries you off <33
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
On his partner? Everything. He can't chose. That would be sacrilegious. He loves every part of you. Every bump, scar, insecurity is what makes you, you. And he'll be damned before he doesn't worship every inch of your entire being.
On him? (I'll have everyone know I almost put hands here. AGAIN.) Probably his back or chest. Now, I know that sounds weird, but it's the first place your hands mark in glorious streaks of white when he's buried deep within you. It's one of the only places he can wear the marks you have graced him with so proudly. It's where you sign your name and place your claim on his heart, soul and entire being.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
Man cums a lot. Be forewarned. It's thick and it's creamy and there's always a lot. Another Link with those heavy breeder balls, you know? Ones just begging to be drained into your pretty little hole. Which is exactly where he does it. Every single time. Anywhere else is a waste.
And he refuses to be wasteful.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He is always secretly terrified that he could somehow in someway hurt you. So when you take control and ride him, bouncing up and down, over and over and over again, he just feels himself fall deeper into devotion for you. Because you aren't afraid. He's slaughtered thousands. And yet, you cradle him like he is a saint. This is only proven when your above him, using him like a toy and trusting that he won't do anything to take back control.
Because he won't.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
Fierce was never one for sex. I'm gonna go right off the bat with that. In fact, you're probably his first. That being said, if he lets you sleep with him, he's probably finding ways to spend the rest of his immortal years with you. You aren't leaving him. He won't let you. He's only willing to learn your body. What makes you tick. Not anyone else. He has no care for anyone else.
And he's a fast learner.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Missionary all the way. He'll do others, but I can't see him really enjoying them. With Missionary he gets to watch your facial features and the way you heave breath after heavy breath, watching as he disappears into your greedy little hole over and over again.
So yeah, he loves missionary. Even if a breeding press also has it's place in his chest cavity (bc I'm not sure if he has a heart hfof)
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
You're kidding, right?
This man has no sense of humor. Period. Maybe he'll give you a small twitch of his lips, but other than that, he's the same stoic faced, bare boned man he portrays. So if he doesn't laugh during the times he's clothed, there's like negative chances of him doing it when he's naked.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
I like to think every part of him is strictly uniform. Every part. His pubic hair is nicely groomed and trimmed and still the same stark white as the hair on his head.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
I could go either way with this. On one hand, he probably doesn't know a whole lot about Romance. Just devotion. And his devotion is so whole and honest in a way I don't think I could truly describe. Everything he does is for you. Your attention. Your approval. Your everything.
On another hand, if his lover wishes for romance, he shall do all the research necessary to ensure he is properly versed in every courting method there is. Anything his darling wants. Their wish is his command.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Never. Not once. He has zero interest in touching himself. None at all. As far as he's concerned, his dick is yours and yours alone. He merely carries it around. He has no right to touch whats yours.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
HUGE CORRUPTION KINK.
There I said it. He's so into taking this pristine art of the Golden three and just absolutely ruining it. Making your eyes red and puffy with tears as you cry out for him, bruising the delicate flesh on your hips with a grip tight enough to keep you in place, claiming you in every way you claim him as the biggest fuck you to the goddesses who blessed you
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
Anywhere private. He has absolutely no interest in sharing the view of you. That is his and his alone. He believes that sex is such an intimate thing, it's his holy time.
And he doesn't share
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Anything. Anything with you. You could breath in his direction and he's hard and ready to go. If you give him the opportunity, he'll worship you all day every day. Just give him the word.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Any form of physical harm. He refuses to do that. Absolutely refuses. His hands are stained with thousands of years of blood and he refuses to let yours be there as well.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
Giving all the way. That is his purest form of devotion and that's his sacred time. He could spend hours down there if you'd let him. So please let him. Plus, he's a god at oral. He's so focused on you and your reactions, you have no complaints regarding his head game.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
Anything his lover wants. If they want slow and sensual, he'll do it. Fast and rough? He's pinning them down. Long, hard drags? Done. Shallow thrusts that have you crying out? Anything you wish.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
Hates them. Hates them hates them hates them. SO MUCH. He refuses to rush his prayers to you. REFUSES. It's frankly insulting to insinuate he would ever do such a thing. He is taking his time in taking you apart and not speeding up even for the end of the world.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Nope. No risks. Anything risking his time with you is a big no-no. That's his special time. His moment of prayer and devotion and it is not to be interrupted.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
All day and all night. The only thing stopping him is his partner pressing the red light. He can go forever if you'd let him. He has no limit. He is a Deity after all. <3
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
None. Hates them too. Why have something as stupid as a toy there to try and please you when he does it well enough on his own? Why have any form of an imposter when he is there? Why insult his abilities with knockoffs like that?
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
He enjoys it at any given point, but not a lot. Just enough to have his lover crying out his name. Just enough to have them yearning for him in just a fraction of the way he yearns for them.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
SILENT. Wouldn't say shit if he had a mouthful. Why bother? Any noise he makes is just taking away from what your crying out and he refuses to distract himself from that pure choir. A hymn of his own making.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
If his lover asked, he'd let them peg him. He'd bottom for his lover. He'd give away any control if it meant keeping his lover. Want to wrap him up in satin red ribbons and keep his limbs starfished for your exploration?
He'd do it.
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
PACKING BIG HEAT Like, it's almost too big to take. Ten to eleven inches with GIRTH, maybe twelve when hard. Veiny too and he's circumcised. Has the prettiest head, just a lovely red that you can't help but want to suck. And BIG BREEDER BALLS <333
Just drain them dry babes <33
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
He could go at any time, he just hides it. You say the word and he's following like an obedient puppy.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Does not sleep. He's holding you and watching to ensure you take every breath he needs you to take. He's watching you all night just to make sure you live to see the next day <3

I just wanna gush bc omg I love the 666 series so much. I think it made me realize I might be... furry-ish? adjacent? I just find it so satisfying how you go into detail about the unique body features of both of them, the way it feels to have deer ears or kiss a TV and just generally how much thought is put into the way their bodies work, and I've realized that my interest in that kind of idea is a pretty good reason to partake in more explicitly furry media lmao. Anyways
I'm also really in love with how you maintain the balance of each of their personality traits. Vox is simultaneously so pathetic and cringefail (also your dialogue for him is perfect, I can hear it crystal clear in my head) but also he has vastly more emotional intelligence than Alastor, no doubt at least in part because he has to deal with Val, and he's able to marginally calm down with his obsession to deal with sticky situations, but even then he still retains his personality and bumbles things sometimes because of the flaws in said personality! It's great. I also really appreciate the balance you've struck with Alastor, I feel like often Alastor is either written to either soften up so immediately that it feels disconnected from his character or is written overly mean and heartless for my liking and the way you've written him is such a delicious balance between softer aspects such as the prey instincts or moments of vulnerability and his untouchable and manipulative self, and also the way this side of him is neither written as wholly a front or wholly his real nature and the complex ways this makes him struggle with his increasing vulnerability. TL;DR arghgr your characterization is so good it makes me go a little feral
Also while I'm here, I'm curious whether you can give an answer to the degree to which Alastor is touch-averse. There's obviously a lot of ways in which he fundamentally dislikes touch but it also seems like there's at least some kinds of touch where he doesn't dislike the touch itself so much as he's afraid of the way it brings about feelings of caring and/or enjoyment being cared for. I'm curious how much, in general, you would say his touch aversion comes from either cause and possibly what kinds of touch do/don't provoke those flavors of aversion
Omg, what a lovely ask to receive. Honestly, everything you said that you enjoy about how I characterize these two is very much what I've been actively gunning for, so it's an absolute delight to see it outlined back to me. Success!!! Thank you so much!
And ahaha - I'm not a furry but I fucking love inhuman characters. Being raised in the pits of Homestuck fantroll RP made me enjoy the whole "they're bug/fish aliens" thing and it definitely rears its head again any time I encounter characters with inhuman qualities. I love writing Vox's TV/computer-ness and Alastor's deer and radio bits, and integrating them into who they now are as people.
As for Alastor's touch-aversion: It's funny that you ask about this, because the next chapter of 666 is going to dive into it a bit. Specifically into the fact that it's not, like, a set of boundaries that is consistently defined, and I write him that way on purpose. The very first time he and Vox sleep together, Alastor bottoms. He becomes significantly less amenable to touch after he goes through an uncomfortable rut cycle that gets sexual. By the time Vox convinces Alastor to fuck him, Alastor would never let Vox do that again and frankly only agrees to topping because Vox gave him an option that didn't involve getting his dick out. Then in the next episode, they're having clothes-off sexual contact. So, what gives?
Things that play into Alastor's willingness to touch and be touched as far as Vox is concerned:
How does he see Vox at that point in time? Disgustingly entitled (ew)? Hilariously beneath him (haha who cares)?
Does he care about what Vox thinks of him? Does Vox touching him draw his attention to positive or negative assumptions he has about Vox's perspective on doing so?
What value has he attached to this particular touch in the power balance of their relationship? Is he humoring Vox? Does he assume Vox thinks he's owed this? Does he perceive it as something Vox is genuinely doing for him?
Has he tried this particular kind of touch before? He's pretty willing to experiment, but that doesn't mean he'll do something twice without a compelling reason if he didn't like it the first time.
Is he getting off on this situation sexually? If so, is it fully willing (read: not a byproduct of uncomfortable hormones) on his part? That only really happens when he's in a submissive role and Vox is hitting a few very specific kinks, a major one of which is basically CNC tilted 30 degrees to the left.
Is he enjoying the touch in platonic ways? How does he feel about that? Is it a vulnerability to want something? Is it feeding his ego to be catered to? Is he worried that what he enjoys platonically is being read into in ways he doesn't like?
Is he fucking drunk? Things that bother you when sober often seem like a non-issue when you're not, both on a physical and emotional level.
How much touching has been happening recently? Has he hit his limit? Did he deliberately put himself into a situation earlier to have his limit be hit and surpassed, and now he's in the aftermath?
He does have a certain fundamental purely physical dislike of touch, but it's something that is really affected by how he perceives each individual situation as well as his relationship with Vox at that time, and his previous experiences!

Also, while I do like the Insomniac version of Harry, I do think it's worth critiquing how the Insomniac games approach the issue of wealth and the wealthy bc as I have discussed before, the games have a confused position on corporations and billionaires where they are evil, yet worth protecting despite the immense harm they cause - and the writing for Harry very much positions him as a foil to Norman where Harry is the Good Billionaire to Norman's Evil Billionaire, where Harry is kind and compassionate and uses his wealth to help the world (in the most bizarre eco-capitalist way, like, sorry, but the EMF is basically the idea that capitalism and super technology will solve things like the climate crisis instead of the whole system needing to be dismantled), and going by the art book, he even wears casual clothes instead of suits bc he's so relatable and down with the poors like Peter; Harry in this universe is basically the perfect person and has zero negative influences from growing up as a billionaire.
And again, I like him, but it is worth considering the broader picture of why a billionaire character would be written like that, especially in a narrative that leans into capitalist apologism at times - it's not even a source material accuracy thing bc 616!Harry is a VERY flawed person in the way Insomniac!Harry isn't (and this is arguably part of the recent trend in adaptations to idealize Harry as perfect, but that's a whole other discussion); I think some of it could be due to the rushed pacing and writing at times, like the story needed to establish the Peter and Harry friendship quickly and didn't have time to give Harry a more complex personality that might dampen the BFF soulmates they needed for emotional moments to hit, but who knows.
This is definitely an issue with Emily Osborn as well bc while you can handwave some of it as us only really knowing her through Harry's perspective and he idolizes her, plus the way the dead get put on a pedestal, especially if they died young under tragic circumstances, the narrative does present her as objectively a saint - but this is a rich woman who willingly loved and married Norman Osborn, who doesn't exactly hide his evil, so either she was extremely naive for a grown woman and lawyer or she was fine with what he was doing, and neither reflects well on her, but I feel like she would be more interesting as a complex flawed character than the objectively perfect billionaire angel the game writes her as.

odesta pregnancy scare hcs (lowkey this might be serving some pg13 realness so just keep that in mind)
• one thing about annie cresta she is ignoring the possible warning signs for as long as possible
• one thing about finnick hes the one that’s like hey annie… can we pls just see if ur pregnant. before i fucking freak out. and she’s like ok
• not quite sure how getting tests would work, esp w finnick’s reputation, but i think it would either be really good or really bad press to see him buy a million different pregnancy tests from a million different brands. but as miss piggy once said… all press is good press
• okay no seriously he’s buying so many tests and annie is like like “pause .. how much pee do u think i have”
• finnick isn’t even waiting outside the door he’s camping out in the bathroom the entire time. it makes annie shy :( then finnick proceeds to freak out even more bc they need the results asappp
• lowkey annie is chill as fuck about it but kinda in a crazy way. shes hoping for twins meanwhile finnick’s mind is in overdrive tryna calculate her last period and how long it’s gonna take for snow to notice anything if the test actually is positive
• however she does start to freak out when shes staring at the test like “is that another line??? or am i just self sabotaging my peace of mind”
• i think it’s impossible for annie and finnick to mind their own business so they’re like “lemme phone a friend rq” so they invite mags over to puzzle it over w them and she immediately starts slut shaming (just kidding)
• but yay! it’s negative! at first annie is bummed but then she remembers that this is panem and their child would have gotten reaped and then she’s like :D!!!!
• she and finnick bake a celebratory cake about it, swearing to only make safe decisions from this point forward. then they proceed to be very unsafe about it that same night. el fin

didnt yang have a line in v5 when talking to weiss where she says something along the lines of ‘when summer died dad left to go work, ruby could barely talk, i had to pick up the pieces’ ??
the exact line is "my mom left me. ruby's mom left too. tai was always busy with school and ruby couldn't even talk yet. i had to pick up the pieces. i had to keep things together. alone." which. well.
for one, in the flashback ruby doesn't exactly look like an age she couldn't even talk yet; generally speaking, babies say their first words around 12 months (i said my first significant word at 8 months lol), and by 18 months will talk more clearly with more words, which is also about the time one might consider switching from crib to a toddler / twin bed (both ruby and yang are sleeping in twin beds).
if ruby actually was that young that she couldn't even talk on top of not really understanding what was going on, yang, who's only two years older, most likely wouldn't be able to have accurate memories from that time period either, especially since she was going through a traumatic experience of losing her mom at the time.
so, like. either what yang said is accurate and what we've seen on screen isn't, or yang is—understandably considering her age at the time—an unreliable narrator. personally i'm thinking latter bc, again, yang was going through a traumatic experience that no child should, and any changes happening at that age will seem huge; what yang refers to as "tai being always busy with school" might have just been tai working as he normally does bc he's a single father and somebody needs to feed these kids and keep a roof over their heads, except now summer isn't at home with them, so his absence is more noticeable, whether yang & ruby were at home or in day-care.
we've also been shown tai being present in ruby's V6 flashback slides, and in fairy tales of remnant reading a bedtime story to them, so there's no way he was always busy with school.
more so, there's no indication what yang actually means with "i had to pick up the pieces. i had to keep things together." all we know is that this is a family build from a team that was good at keeping secrets and hiding their less positive feelings from others, with yang resorting to making jokes when she's afraid, and ruby throwing "gotta stay positive" and "smiles all around" at her when she snaps; add the lyrics of gold on top of that, and "pick up the pieces" start to really look like yang focusing on staying positive, and trying to make ruby smile and shoving any negativity away in unhealthy manner; smiles bringing sunshine, worries disappear / close your eyes, don't you cry.
it's about emotional well-being, is what i'm trying to say in the most long-winded way possible.

in light of discourse of potential drag in s3 here's the iwtv guys' relationship to drag/crossdressing
Lestat: He does it. We've already seen him do it. He thinks it's fun :). his taste level and makeup skills are...not all the way there. I imagine his drag aesthetic without Louis' supervision is either 5yo girl at a princess tea party or hot mall slut. Regardless, he's having fun that doesn't involve inhuman violence so good for him ig. Knows very little about modern drag culture apart from what his gay tour interns tell him and the occasional bar visit. He is blocked by several drag race queens bc he keeps sliding into their dms with critiques and/or flirtations based on whatever episode he happened to catch a glimpse of.
Louis: Knows the most about contemporary drag culture by far out of anyone on the cast. Was on the ground floor observing the ballroom scene develop. Thinks rupaul's drag race ruined real drag culture (but has seen every episode). Is absolutely vicious in his criticisms of the queens and def ate some baby queens back in the day. Internally thinks he would slay drag race but whenever someone suggests he actually do drag he always comes up with some excuse like 'I can't shave bc I'm a vampire' or 'I can't find a drag mother I'll eat them'. In reality he is just afraid of getting similar criticisms and would like to keep his ego intact. If he were to do drag though his aesthetic would be very sleek and sophisticated a lot of 80s powersuits/powerdresses (executive realness is his fav category), slinky jewel tone gowns, big hats, fur coats, some tasteful bdsm elements. While his style is fairly modern I imagine he's quite old-fashioned about certain elements of drag like: NO body hair! NO boy nipples! FEMALE ILLUSION ONLY! I think he'd get really into the interiority of his drag persona as well...Lestat is like "Je suis Lisette :) it is like my name but I'm a girl :)" Louis on the other hand is looking in the mirror face beat like.. "who is Celine Emerald VanMichaels DuPree? does she dream? what does she dream of? what am I trying to embody when I become her?" tdlr: he is very annoying.
Armand: Doesn't really have much interest in drag tbh sure he'll drink a glass of AB on drag race nights with loustat and bitch about fabric with the best of them but it's not something he'd really do on his own. If he felt he had to crossdress for whatever reason he'd do it but wouldn't feel that strongly about it positively or negatively. I imagine some elements of women's clothing would bring him back to the renaissance since men were very much gowned-up back then which could be good or bad depending on the day he's having. I imagine his past painting skills would transfer so he'd be weirdly very good at drag makeup like he and Lestat would follow the same tutorial on youtube and Armand would come out looking like Plastique Tiara while Lestat looks crazy. He wore eyeliner casually in Paris and I could see him having fun with eye makeup under certain circumstances. However, I don't think the idea of having a drag persona would appeal to him bc 1. repressed femininity and enforced masculinity wasn't really a significant part of his human life unlike loustat and 2. a performance is only worth it for Armand if someone actually fully believes it otherwise it's Just Acting and that's Lestat's thing not his. He loves typical drag queen camp movies though like Mommie Dearest, Showgirls, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, etc. are some of his faves. Louis thinks those films are bad/weird (he's more of a Steel Magnolias queen) but Daniel and Lestat watch with him.
Daniel: He did drag/crossdressed for special occasions back when he was younger like halloween and pride events/protests. He'd do one of those stories where the reporter becomes part of the community they're writing about and he'd do drag for like a week just for the story ofc. He has a Frank n' Furter costume that he's owned since 1976 and worn to at least a decade's worth of Rocky Horror screenings. Also a playboy bunny look which he tries to claim he wore as some sort of feminist commentary but was really about showing off his twunk body to various substance users. He probably sees these past antics as him 'being secure in his masculinity' rather than expressing femininity which is.... kinda true but also not. He's a huge fan of John Waters and Divine. Like Louis he also believes that rpdr ruined drag culture but actually doesn't watch it except for clips of untucked fights (he would like dragula though). He thinks the most important thing for a drag queen to be is funny and shocking to straight people rather than to serve looks, in fact, he prefers queens who are a bit busted or purposely strange looking. This makes going to drag shows with him and Louis very entertaining because they are guaranteed to have exact opposite opinions and fight about it.

I actually didn't even bother watching the second season of Loki because of the cheap marketing and inconsistent storytelling.
It just felt like the plot was lifted off somewhere it would have made sense, and a character with a similar ego was replaced with Loki and goes through an arc that might have made sense for a blank slate character, but not someone who already has a backstory.
Loki doesn't even feel like Loki after three episodes in S1. The whole point of having a show like that just seems to be about the TVA and Sylvie.
Also the whole genderfluid thing. They 'confirmed' it in the promo and had a line in the script that went completely against anything they just said.
I knew at once that the writers, directors and other parts of production were really just pulling it in different directions and it would probably sound like a jazz trumpeter and a metal guitarist trying to improvise after knowing each other for 15 minutes.
I've been meaning to watch it just so I can have educated opinions on all of it but it's just,, so hard to get into. I definitely agree the marketing was cheap, they did with the 80s McDonald's like they did DB Cooper!Loki and made it centric to the advertising because McDonalds was also getting something out of it which is kinda ass seeing as realistically Loki Laufeyson would burn 6 of them down before he ate in one 😭
I personally don't like either of the major ships in the show but the forced Sylki shit in season 1 really got to me. Like not only did she completely replace him as the main character in HIS show, she's also a variant of him who he wants to make out with and overall it just reads as lazy writing and it's extremely disappointing that Mike Waldron has been put in charge of Multiverse of Madness and The Kang Dynasty since, due to the popularity of the Loki TV show. I was talking to my boyfriend about this last night but it kinda reminds me of the complaints people had ab the last Indiana Jones movie but opposite? Like everyone complained his best friend's daughter was gonna replace him bc she's a Mary Sue and she rlly isnt, she's more reminiscent of Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark she just doesn't wanna fuck him. But the difference is Indy is a character who's majorly blank for little boys to project themselves onto. Which is great!! It works for those kind of movies, but they're not character development centric like the individual mcu movies tend to be. Loki is characterized in a way that he's drowning in identity issues and family problems and he experiences growth in every installment whether it be positive or negative. It doesn't make sense to take the formula of an Indidna Jones movie where he meets up with a woman who's typically a love interest and has her own issues that are only slightly touched on because that's not the focus, and they go do the plot.
Sylvie is not an Indy Girl, they straight up are trying to replace Loki with Sylvie. And you can tell the character wasn't supposed to have as much importance as she does in the show bc the character was worked on more after the actress they chose was buddies with a producer ( and this is no hate to the actress I'm sure she's delightful everything I've seen her in in terms of interviews has been lovely ).
I also absolutely agree they should've just made a tva mini series to introduce the tva rather than bringing back a dead character who soon will not make much sense anyway because Tom Hiddleston is getting older (and also he deserves to branch out in his career).
The genderfluid thing was a cash grab and it sucks ass, they just want money for acknowledging things already canon in the comics, same with confirming him as bisexual.
My boyfriend is actually writing a fic on ao3 called Find Me that's rlly good if you want Loki content that isn't related to the show.
(YES this is shameless promotion sshhhhshshsh) but fr the loki TV show makes me more confident in my screenwriting bc t h a t got put on disney plus. I'm also working on a Loki show rewrite in my spare time!!

hellooooo im so curious of how ei reminded you of vriska 👀 could you elaborate, id love some new thoughts to ping-pong ball around in my brain?
It's really more about. the kind of frustration i have with them? like when you go on that little date with ei after the main arc and the food vendor with the weird food is like "please don't kill me!" and she's like "that's dumb why would you think i would do that" like she's completely unaware of her own conservative dictatorship that ruined people's lives. I think that's supposed to make her seem more reasonable but it just makes her look, frankly, pretty dumb. Her pink haired fox girlfriend is constantly saying how she's just immature and throwing a tantrum and grieving and she's just a girl and i believe all of that but in the least flattering way possible that i KNOW was not the intention behind it. Like it's supposed to humanize her but now i just see her as selfish and frustrating and by the end of it i don't believe she's changed at all but that doesn't matter bc she's a collectable waifu so she has to be portrayed positively.
in a similar way vriska is selfish, nothing she does really has any negative weight either in the personal relationships she cares about or in the story and a lot of the time the terrible thing she did ends up being good and necessary (ie the god tier thing), and it feels like the narrative is trying to put a more positive spin on her character then I, as i am right now, can read into her. Like losing someone is hard and vriska did have a shitty life but when they lash out bc of this it doesn't really Mean anything and that's. idk. annoying and frustrating.

dd2 has me doing mental gymnastics bc I don't really like interacting with canon all that much in ANY setting (nervously looks at wf, the chosen operator thing sucks, dont come at me).
puts this under readmore bc the ramble got too long oops just quickly going over Rau's story to see what canon events even tie in there at all.
It's just unfortunate timing in an unfamiliar place. Rau happened to be in Melve with his family, passing through really. Dragon makes a feast of his heart, he gets treated and dragged to Vernworth with strangers wanting to put him on the throne but he runs off because it's all too fast paced for him.
Disa does what Disa does best which results in Rau being enslaved on the Volcanic island with his memories missing.
He escapes the place, thank you Rook and goodbye Rook. Nobody picks him up from the griffon landing area and he simply wanders off on his own. (rather he wanders off BEFORE the soldiers arrive)
The guy spends a week trekking through the forests until he ends up in Vernworth again where Brant finally gets his hands on the stray Arisen to fill him in on his supposed duty.
Raures summons a mangled pawn at the big riftstone in the city and ends up leaving the thing alone at an inn for days to let him recuperate. During this time Rau runs the infiltration tasks in the palace for Brant.
Once Lane is good enough to walk, they set out for the Nameless Village and never return to Vernworth again. The pawn has his claws in the Arisen and does his best to distract the hero from his charge.
And the rest just doesn't happen for Raures. He sticks to his wandering lifestyle like he did with his parents before the Dragon scorched them and ate his heart.
They visit the Sacred Arbor at some point and travel to Battahl through illegal means. They assist those in need along the way because Rau is a stouthearted, kind man (if a little blind).
Brant is hot on their heels at times, exasperated beyond measure. Lane distracts him too by sending him the wrong way, but keeps Rau in the dark about the matter.
The pawn also murders Ambrosius on the beach as he detects the kind of energy is hidden in the small blue crystals. Better safe than sorry is the excuse he gives himself.
The (severely incomplete) bestowal of spirit was a mistake when it comes to Lane's OG master, Amaury LMAO he literally got all of the worst traits from the prick before the good ones could come in. Lane's learning those on his own now, through life experience. (((Exercises his sliver of free will to be a little bitch)))
After an unmentionable amount of time Raures loses his spark and is forced to retire as a New Arisen is made to pick up his slack and continue the cycle in his stead. He is devastated by the fact as the fog is lifted from his mind and realization finally washes over him.
He then notices that the pawn he adopted is still sticking with him despite his lost status. They have a falling out when Lane comes clean about his past and his motives and the role Rau unknowingly played in them.
Upset, Rau then FINALLY makes way to Vernworth to see if he can aid in any way. And Lane is left at Rau's cabin in the woods to think things through.
---
Raures is very dutybound so his initial reaction to Lane's manipulation, betrayal even, was very negative. But he eventually takes pity on Lane and goes to fetch the pawn before he can answer another Arisen's call and travel beyond the rift for good. Rau imagined himself in Lane's shoes and figured he would've done the same if he were in the such position.
Lane can no longer sense Raures either so their means of communication has got to become more direct too. It's difficult but they'll make it work.
---
Pathfinder is a tricky obstacle though I'm still trying to figure out what to do about that bastard. Rau does probably heed him. And he can very easily tell him that his pawn is corrupt and is getting in the way of his charge but there are many former Arisen who failed... How did they manage??? (or rather not manage)

it’s genuinely so interesting to see azula in completely different circumstances bc like. i mean for one she's very autistic and that’s always fun i too am like that except without the burning things and threats and stuff. but also like, we kinda see a little of how her world is like, just a bit. she's often mean spirited towards her friends like everyone else but she's not intentionally cruel, even apologising to ty lee when she realised she upset her. her perfectionism applies in all areas, even things that would seem petty. she's surprisingly empathetic towards zuko when he's mourning in the beach house. she is just generally awful to the people outside of that specific group though. she sees herself as inherently evil, since she's got such a warped view of love she thinks her mother hated her instead of being genuinely concerned about the way she was being influenced.
she’s awful, but she’s very human, and she's absolutely not heartless no matter how much she pretends to be. her relationships with others she’s close to aren’t at all healthy, obviously- she plays mind games even at the best of times and discards people when they refuse to be useful to her- but that’s not out of malice to them at least (the whole rest of the world is another story). considering how much she adores and idolises her father, it’s probably not a stretch to say where that idea of love comes from.
and like. none of this makes azula a better person. but it makes her a person. she's a deeply messed up kid, but she’s still a kid, and not 100% of her actions at all times are done out of cruelty and spite. she’s got a deeply negative self image, and she feels a need for control and domination to feel like she’s worth something to herself- either her self esteem is dangerously high on an ego boost or she's immediately into angry self hatred she externalises at the world. she’s not just “ooh evil crazy!” she’s genuinely mentally ill and has a distorted perception of herself and the world around her, and she does genuinely deserve help for that, as every person struggling with mental illness does. she also needs to be stopped from hurting others- both those she’s close to and those she’s not, because neither is a good position to be in- and removed from her current environment, and instead be somewhere that doesn’t enable her behaviours and keeps both herself and others safe from her anger. and as long as she believes she can’t be a better person- just a more useful monster- she can’t heal and become a better person, and that might not be something that ever happens. she’s awful, she’s cruel, and she also needs genuine mental help.

Hey Ella. I thought I'd come to you with this because you always give off a kind and sympathetic nature so at the very least I won't be treated like a shitty person for what I want to say.
I'm really struggling with Harry atm and it's actually kinda devastating because I never saw this happening. There is so much around Harry that I vehemently dislike, from the people around him to aspects of his public image and narrative. I was so good at separating all that from Harry himself but lately I've been feeling my bitterness bleeding onto Harry. I've seen this happen so much. People who were originally fans getting annoyed at small things and that growing bigger into bitterness and hate. I don't want to be one of these people.
What is making this worse is that I as a person do not place a high value on things like career and ambition. Not in my own life and not in others. So it's getting hard for me to relate and support Harry in his ambition as to me there are infinitely more important things in life. This wasn't a major factor before because his fame and success wasn't at the level it is now.
I honestly don't know what I'm trying to do with this message. I guess I would just appreciate some perspective if you're willing because I genuinely do not want to start resenting Harry. Honestly just typing this is making me tear up.
hi kind anon, i think you're dealing with a pretty common problem in the fandom these days. it's tough to feel like you don't relate to someone you really always felt comfort with. maybe a first step is to take a breather from the fandom as well as gp/main media talk about harry. no twitter (and i'm not saying this bc i have a weird biased thing against twitter. it's a place where opinions are thrown around like it's something ppl have been begging for, like it's fact, and it's really hard to keep reading opinions and debates without getting influenced), no harry content on instagram, no tiktok. i am not interested in anything others have to say about him, and i actively shield myself from it. i don't watch videos others have made with commentary, i don't read articles, i don't even read discourse on here usually. i think the habit of picking everything apart, of making sure you focus on the negative to properly enjoy the positive, is unhealthy, or at least for me. i know myself enough to not fall into blindness or naivety when it comes to what's wrong with enormous success and the industry. i just don't feel the need to get into it every time harry achieves something.
when it comes to harry's ambition and success, i just know (from what he's shown over the years, but the full extent we never will) how much it means to him. i think it's also a mix of actually wanting to be big for him and getting as high as he can to prove that he can to everyone who told him he couldn't. i don't relate to it either, and i don't think it's cool to have all those riches, but i still cry with harry when he cries of joy at his madison sq garden banner. i'm okay living with that nuance without always debating it. i love his music, i love his artistic vision, i love his lyrics, i love the way he carries himself. i also know i don't know him, that i never will, and that there are things he does and says i don't agree with. i have the exact same thing with some of my lifelong best friends, as they have with me. i'm okay with that. happy, even, of how unique and imperfect we all are
what i do, and what keeps me so in love with harry beyond the noise of the gp and the fandom, is focus on what makes me love him. remember that this is an interest, something that makes you happy, and not your object of study, or your career in politics. enjoy it all for you, enjoy it offline as well. and then, i guess, if that doesn't do the trick, a few steps away from harry and all that surrounds him might be necessary to let go of the bitterness. bc you can also just stop liking something, and that's also okay

How do you think bakugo perceives himself? Like physically and personality wise?
hi cee my most greatly and deeply beloved !!!
bakugou is kind of an interesting character in the sense i think he has a relatively objective view of himself? like i think as an adult he's neither very positive OR very negative
physically he typically describes himself using words about his body. not in a conceited way but in the way his self-perception is super effected by being a hero so it's almost a list of stats as opposed to something else. strong and usually pretty agile if he's asked.
he's aware his good looking but he actually doesn't care about it. surprisingly bakugou is very like...not-shallow? he thinks its weird that people take that into perceiving him unless they're like explicitly fucking so while he knows hes good looking he's not cocky about it usually. the farthest he'll go is joking about being the sexiest motherfucker in the room but he's def being like playful and silly but he thinks its like the least important aspect of any person
(ironically this aspect of his personality makes him... more sexy which is. annoying to say the least.)
personality wise i think he considers himself like kind of abrasive but otherwise lacks self reflection in that area. he does consider himself an asshole (he goes back and forth between acceptance and denial but he Knows of it) and he's generally more insecure about his personality than he is about other things. he doesn't consider himself like actually genuinely mean anymore bc he isn't really but he's certainly not like nice either so he's kinda ???
he'll usually use words like abrasive, blunt / straightforward, and no bullshit or something along those lines but he can't tell you much about himself that's like completely positive. again it's a very objective view of himself but it's certainly not a rave review yk

ik a common pet peeve ppl have with media is that trope of a villain having a really good point about society then immediately killing a baby to achieve it or smth and how it's used by people in power to demonize these criticisms of them. but i do think in bsd when antagonists make a good point it still stands and it's still a good point regardless of what they do about it, and the narrative does not want you to perceive them entirely negatively. like, there's a reason atsushi spends a few chapters in a conflict bc he agrees with fukuchi's ideas, just thinks his methods are harmful. the story lingers on it bc it wants you to stop and think and see the good in them, i think, and not to be mean and turn it around like a "gotcha! you are just as bad for agreeing!" or smth.
i think it all stems from how every character in bsd is morally grey in order to humanize them. every antagonist is presented in a positive light at some point (only exception i can think of is fyodor, who so far hasn't been presented in a really grey way either), their motives or ideals are laid out so you can understand WHY they're doing the things they're doing, and eventually they end up working with the protagonists because well. they're all humans at the end of the day.
the thing driving all protagonists in bsd is simply to keep living (each have their own asterisk next to that, but i won't get into details) and usually keep others safe. they beat the forces that stand in their way of achieving this, but for a moment, these forces' own goals get reflected back onto them, and they become a vehicle for them as well, at times.
it's less of a "villain makes a good point then kills a baby to make you disagree with them", more like "villain makes a good point but the story lingers on it so both you and the in-universe characters think about it and consider it. they also kill a baby but that's more like a personal character flaw that might get ironed out of them with the power of friendship"
that's also why wildly loved characters that are generally considered positive start out trying to kill the protags (akutagawa, chuuya, lucy, poe, sigma, the hunting dogs etc). you know WHY they do this. you know what led them here. you also saw other sides to them - silly moments, helping their comrades or innocent bystanders, positive interactions with the main cast - which help make them feel more human, thus making them easier to understand for us as readers.
idk man i think it's p cool
EDIT: i will also add!!!! that imo fyodor seeming purely evil despite bsd's attempt at humanizing its characters!!!! is less of a fault in writing but rather showing how he dehumanizes HIMSELF. he views himself as more than human. characters like sigma view him as more than human. and so, for now, the narrative will treat him as such too - not bc he's right. but bc it serves his current story, and hopefully a future arc will have him unlearning that, or more layers will be peeled from him so at least we as an audience can see his humanity (i have a feeling the information sigma got from him + the injury dazai gave him + him being bested in general + whatever the fuck "that man" comment was, will all play a part in that)
