Here is a list of Potentially Toxic Flowers for Both Cats and Dogs: Calla Lilies, Carnations, Chrysanthemums, Daffodils, Delilahs, Freesias, Gladioli, Hyacinths, Hydrangeas, Iris, Lily of the Valley, Ranunculus, and Tulips. Also, I’m not sure why they aren’t on here but Lillies are incredibly toxic!!! Please note this is NOT a comprehensive list so please check the ASPCA website or ask your florist for recommendations.

Next we have some signs of poisoning in cats and dogs: These signs my include Vomiting, Diarrhea, Lethargy, Nosebleeds, Rapids Heartbeat, Excessive Panting, Decreased Urination, Excessive Thirst, and Lack of Appetite. If your pet displays any of these symptoms, take them to the vet immediately!

Also, be mindful of the ‘flower food’ packets that come with your bouquet! I don’t know if they are harmful but I never use them. Simply change the water regularly and recut the ends of your flowers at an angle to extend their life.

Honestly, the answer that feels most accurate is that, while he has a small pack of dogs that accompany him on hunts, at his core he's one of those people who animals just love instinctively. Villainess is initially extremely excited to hear about ox eye cookies, then very disappointed to learn that they don't actually contain any actual eyeballs, then enthusiastic again once she actually tried them. They have sweets in her kingdom, but they're very different than the ones in his kingdom, and tend to be a bit more on the mild or savory side of sweet. Think traditional mochi versus something like baklava or a snickerdoodle. The bees in her kingdom produce very little honey and are highly murderous in nature, so discovering that honey's such an easily-obtained (comparatively speaking) commodity here is exciting. Also she hasn't told any of her friends or family her new source for the stuff and it's driving them all crazy. One of the few times that eating honey directly from the jar in front of other people is a power move instead of something you can get judged for.

So I am extremely lucky that my cat, and my dogs don’t care about plants. How every, on the off chance they ever do get a taste for plants, anything that’s harmful if consumed is kept either in rooms they don’t have access too, or in places they can’t reach.

Thank being said, I don’t keep anything extremely toxic like Lilly’s. The most of what I keep may just cause some GI upset. The ones that can cause a bit more concerning signs like ulcers in the mouth from chomping on the leaves are kept way out of reach.

It’s possible to keep pets and plants, you just need to take precautions. ASPCA has a wonderful list and break down of what’s safe verses what’s not safe.

And remember, just because it’s safe for a reptile doesn’t mean it’s safe for a cat!

While you may have visions of stringing popcorn garlands, tinsel strands, and salt dough ornaments along your beautiful fir tree, your pet will be drooling at your feet, eager to make a snack out of the conveniently hung treats. Even without food-based and shiny decorations, your Christmas tree can pose a threat to your furry friend. Before setting up your Christmas card photo of your pet bedecked in antlers or an elf hat in front of the tree, consider these potential hazards:

Live Trees: Fir, spruce, and pine trees make excellent Christmas trees and are generally non-toxic to pets. The needles, however, can cause oral irritation and in excessive amounts, gastrointestinal upset.1

Artificial Trees: Although fake trees are oil- and sap-free, they can create gastrointestinal issues, depending on what material makes up the tree.  

Fertilized Water: If you put your Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving, you will want to ensure it lasts until Christmas by adding fertilizer or preservatives to the water. These chemicals, mold, and bacteria can make your pet ill if they drink from the tree stand.2

Although many people believe that poinsettias can kill their pets, that is a rarity.  A pet would have to ingest a massive amount of this plant to cause poisoning, and most pets won’t eat a large enough amount because of the irritating taste and feel from the sap. At most, your pet may experience vomiting and salivation, but will likely stop eating the plant once she discovers how irritating the sap is to their mouth and throat. If your pet is a known chewer, choose artificial plants over real ones. But, too much chewing on plastic or fabric plants can lead to a foreign body obstruction if ingested.

Barricade your Christmas tree behind baby gates or pens to keep your pet out.

When in doubt, check out the ASPCA’s list of toxic and non-toxic plants before adding greenery and bright blooms to your home. But, if your pet nibbles on your plant, no matter what type, be sure to contact your veterinarian or animal poison control for advice.

Oh, another bit about the first Pikmin game I forgot: they consider a lot of the biology behind the enemies.

Dwarf Bulborbs (the most common enemies) aren't actual Bulborbs, they're "Breadbug Mimics" that have evolved to mimic the appearance of young Bulborbs in order to avoid predation.

Dwarf Bulbears, on the other hand, ARE young Bulbears.

The "Sporry Bulborbs" are large, nocturnal enemies, and are renamed "Red Bulborbs" in later games because Olimar discovered other Bulborb species that ALSO have spots.

Bulborbs are called Bulborbs because they're Grubdogs that remind Olimar of his own pet back at home: a Grubdog named Bulbie.

Waterdumples, while not resembling Bulborbs in the slightest (looking more like eyeless, slug-fish hybrids), are actually Grubdogs themselves.

Grubdogs don't look like dogs either.

Sheargrubs come in male and female variants (only the males are carnivorous) and a flying relative called "Shearwigs".

There are two Blowhog species: One that breaths fire, and another that floats like a balloon and blows Pikmin over and decreases their maturity level. The "Fiery Blowhog" has an internal organ that allows it to ignite the gas it expels as a defense mechanism, while the "Puffy Blowhog" instead uses its gas sack to float. Both have a scientific name that indicates they are related to real-life pigs.

You only encounter one (non-Bulborb mimic) Breadbug in the entire first game, but later games do feature more of them. Breadbugs are so named because they look like walking loathes of bread.

There are frog-like enemies known was "Wollyhops", white ones live underground (like in the Forest Naval) while yellow ones live on the surface. In future games, Yellow Wollyhops end up being more common than the regular Wollyhops.

There's a species called the "Burrowing Snarrow" that has never appeared on screen. We only know it exists because the enemy reel in the first game compares the Burrowing Snagret to it.

The Onions will only allow up to 100 Pikmin on the field at a time. if you exceed that number when discovering a new Onion, one of the Pikmin currently on the field will be quietly returned to their own Onion during the cutscene.

There's a species known as the "Mamuta", who only appears as a secret boss in the Impact site. Their only attack is to plant Pikmin in the ground and turn them into flowers.

There's another secret boss in the Distant Spring that can only be encountered on Day 15 or earlier by attacking the egg there and then letting it hatch without destroying it. This secret boss is the "Smoky Progg" which leaves a trail of toxic fumes that instakill all Pikmin that touch it, can roar to pluck Pikmin seeds off the ground, and is one of the few enemies in the game to not release a soul upon death. The enemy reel that plays after the credits of the good ending implies it is an undead Mamuta fetus, and is in fact considered its own species in spite of hatching from Mamuta eggs because of this.

Houseplant Witch Tips

Hey, all! As primarily a green and kitchen witch, I wanted to share some things that I use in my practice that keep me sane that have to do with plants!

As per usual, I am by no means an expert. I'm constantly learning and growing, so take everything with a grain of salt and what works for you!

Thus begins the list

First things first, I always make sure I can separate the magickal from the mundane with plants. If I'm keeping a plant that's wilting, it could very well be that something's hindering it's growth. And that something could very well be bad energy. Or I could have forgotten to water it.

Keep herbs in pots! They need plenty of light and water and lots of growing space, but using herb you've cultivated yourself in spellwork I've found yields much more personal results.

Name plants after deities and beings you work with if you work with any! Caring for their specified plant can be an offering!

If your plant dies, don't sweat. Plants can be picky! I always leave my dead plants in nature in order to give a little bit back to the Earth.

Make terrariums with crystals! Use your crystals to set an intention that will grow along with the plant!

A cactus can be a powerful protective plant with its thorns.

You can also keep crystals in plant pots to set an intention with the plant

Just in general, houseplants are good for spells that grow slowly, yet exponentially.

Appreciate the green! Plants have great cleansing properties! They not only produce oxygen, but good vibes as well!

spider plants (cat and dog safe!)

snake plants

pothos

philodendrons

cacti (if you have lots of natural light!)

bamboo (SUPER easy! Keep it in water with some light! Also non-toxic to cats and dogs!)

Houseplants for Protection

The poll is over! results are in and the option with the most votes was the best houseplants for protection! I love plants and working with them in my craft so im super happy to get into this topic.

Plants have plenty of properties, whether its medicinal, edible or even poisonous. Protection is in my opinion one of the best uses for plants next to healing reasons, especially if you just like having plants in your house.

There are all kinds of plants but some arent easy to care for or can be harmful to pets if they try chewing on them (and knowing cats, they will).

For this page im going to share with you a list of plants i found that are best for protection, not too hard to care for (plus a bit about how to care for them), and whether or not theyre harmful to pets/if consumed.

Protective plants

Cacti A cactus can absorb anxiety and negative energies, great for keep your home a calm positive space. These prickly guys love heat and sunlight so they're fine if you leave them in a sunny spot! Do be careful not to prick yourself! Do a little research on the type of cactus you get so you have the right soil, some prefer to be dry with a little water every now and then but some prefer being watered a little more often. Cacti are fine if you forget to water them every now and then and they usually come from dry hot places, so they're pretty easy to care for and don't require too much effort! As far as i can tell most cacti and succulents are safe around pets especially cats but to be safe look up the specific plant you have just to make sure your pet will be okay. Most decorative cacti/succulents like holiday cacti are perfectly safe!

Chinese Money Plants These little guys flourish in positive energy and are great for holding onto any negativity in their leaves to keep things positive. They're super easy to care for needing indirect sunlight and not too much water! They're non-toxic to both cats and dogs so they're plenty safe!

Basil These herbs generate positive energy and are known for spiritual protection! They're not as easy to grow, needing about 1 inch of water every week but aren't too much of a handful and are even worth it because you can cook with the leaves! Basil is healthy for cats and even dogs in small quantities, a non-toxic plant to help protect your home!

Aloe Vera While being known as the best plant to help soothe burns, Aloe vera is also another good plant for spiritual protection in your home. They love sunny spots and water but don't need to be in direct sunlight or watered too often! Unfortunately this plant IS mildly toxic to cats and dog, causing vomiting, tremors and a number of other things so it's best to keep it away from your pets if you do choose to get it, maybe scheduling a vet appointment if your cat happens to get a bit mischievous and nibbles on t.

Sage This one is very well known for helping ward off negative energies among other things but it's important to do your research on the cultural connections to plants as well such as the act of burning white sage. My suggestion is just simply growing other types of sage like green sage in your home. Sage is fairly easy to care for as you don't have to water it too often so long as it's in natural lighting and the soil is wet when watered. They're very drought-resistant so if you forget to water them a few times it's perfectly fine! Sage is thankfully non-toxic to dogs but it would still be good to be on the safe side and limit just how much they end up consuming if you can help it, same goes for cats!

There you go! im sorry the list was shortened to just five plants but others i found required more care than the rest and a lot of us dont exactly have that time on our hands or will remember all that care needed for the specific plants.

Id be very happy to create a part 2 to this list if you'd like more plants and dont mind hearing about ones that require more attention and care but for now, i hope you like these findings ^^
