Creating a Cat-friendly Garden: Safe Plants for Cats
Cat owners understand the importance of creating a safe and comfortable environment for their feline companions. While indoor living provides protection for cats from outdoor dangers, it also limits their access to the natural world. This is where a cat-friendly garden comes into play. A well-designed garden can provide cats with the opportunity to explore, exercise, and satisfy their natural instincts without compromising their safety. However, when it comes to selecting plants for a cat-friendly garden, it is crucial to be mindful of their potential toxicity. Many common garden plants can be harmful to cats if ingested, causing a range of health issues from mild gastrointestinal upset to more severe organ damage. Therefore, it is essential for cat owners to educate themselves on the safest plants to include in their garden. In this article, we will explore some of the top safe plants for cats, as well as tips for creating a cat-friendly garden that will keep both your furry friend and your greenery in good health.
1. Select cat-safe plants for gardens.
When it comes to creating a cat-friendly garden, one of the most important considerations is selecting plants that are safe for cats. Many common plants and flowers can be toxic to cats if ingested, causing a range of symptoms from mild stomach upsets to more serious health issues. To ensure the safety and well-being of your feline friend, it is crucial to research and carefully choose cat-safe plants for your garden. This not only protects your cat but also allows them to enjoy the outdoors without any potential dangers. By taking the time to select cat-safe plants for your garden, you can create a peaceful and worry-free environment for both you and your furry companion.
2. Avoid toxic plants for cats.
When planning a cat-friendly garden, it is important to be aware of the potential dangers that certain plants can pose to your furry friend. Some plants may cause mild digestive upset, while others can be extremely toxic and even fatal to cats if ingested. To keep your cat safe, it is best to avoid toxic plants altogether and opt for cat-friendly alternatives. This not only protects your cat's health but also allows you to have a beautiful and safe garden without worrying about potential hazards. It is always better to be cautious and informed when it comes to creating a cat-friendly garden.
3. Opt for non-toxic foliage options.
In addition to avoiding toxic plants, opting for non-toxic foliage options is another important aspect of creating a safe and cat-friendly garden. While some plants may not be toxic to cats, they can still irritate their skin or cause discomfort if ingested. It is best to research and choose plants that are not only non-toxic but also non-irritating to cats. This will not only keep your furry friend safe but also ensure a peaceful and enjoyable environment for both you and your cat. Some great non-toxic options for a cat-friendly garden include spider plants, bamboo, and spiderwort. Remember to always check the ASPCA's list of toxic and non-toxic plants for cats before adding any new plants to your garden.
4. Consider catnip and catmint plants.
Another great option to consider for a cat-friendly garden is catnip and catmint plants. These plants are not only safe for cats to be around, but they also have a calming effect on them. Catnip and catmint contain a compound called nepetalactone, which can induce a sense of euphoria in cats, making them more relaxed and content. Additionally, these plants are easy to grow and require minimal maintenance, making them a perfect addition to any cat-friendly garden. Just be sure to keep an eye on your cats' consumption of these plants, as too much can cause digestive issues. Overall, catnip and catmint are great choices for a safe and enjoyable garden for both your feline friends and yourself.
5. Create a designated cat area.
In addition to catnip and catmint, there are other plants that can be added to a designated cat area in your garden. For example, cat grass provides cats with essential nutrients and helps with digestion. Valerian is another herb that can be planted in a designated cat area, as it has a calming effect on cats. However, it's important to note that valerian can be invasive and should be planted in a container to prevent it from spreading throughout the garden. By creating a designated cat area, you can provide a safe and stimulating outdoor space for your feline friends to enjoy. Just be sure to research and monitor any plants you add to ensure they are safe for your cats.
6. Choose plants with vertical elements.
In addition to specific plants that are safe and beneficial for cats, it's also important to consider adding vertical elements to your cat-friendly garden. Cats naturally love to climb and perch, so incorporating tall plants or structures, such as cat trees or shelves, can provide them with exercise and mental stimulation. This also allows them to safely observe their surroundings, satisfying their curious nature. Just be sure to avoid any plants with toxic leaves or thorns that could harm your feline friends. With a mix of safe and stimulating elements, your cat-friendly garden will be the perfect oasis for your furry companions.
7. Provide hiding spots for cats.
In addition to providing vertical elements and safe plants for cats, it is also important to include hiding spots in a cat-friendly garden. Cats are natural hunters and enjoy having hiding spots where they can observe their environment and feel secure. These hiding spots can include dense shrubs, tall grasses, or even small tunnels made from branches or rocks. By creating these hiding spots, you are not only enriching your cat's environment but also providing a safe and stimulating space for them to explore and play. Just be sure to avoid toxic plants in these hiding spots as well, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your feline friends.
8. Encourage interactive play with plants.
Another way to encourage interactive play with your cats in the garden is by incorporating plants that are safe and fun for them to play with. Some plants, such as catnip, have a stimulating effect on cats and can be used as a playful reward for good behavior. Other plants, like cat grass, provide a safe and nutritious snack for your cats to nibble on while exploring the garden. You can also create a designated digging area filled with loose soil or sand for your cats to satisfy their natural instinct to dig and bury objects. By including these interactive elements, you can create a cat-friendly garden that not only provides a safe and stimulating environment but also promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for your feline friends.
9. Use natural pest control methods.
Another important aspect of creating a cat-friendly garden is using natural pest control methods. Many chemical pesticides can be harmful to cats if ingested or absorbed through their paws. Instead, consider using natural alternatives such as diatomaceous earth, essential oils, or companion planting. These methods can effectively control pests while keeping your feline companions safe. It's also important to regularly check for any potential hazards, such as poisonous plants, and remove them from your garden. By utilizing natural pest control methods, you can create a safe and healthy environment for both your cats and your garden.
10. Ensure proper fencing for safety.
In addition to using natural pest control methods and regularly checking for potential hazards, ensuring proper fencing is essential for creating a safe and cat-friendly garden. Cats are curious animals and are known to wander and explore, which can put them at risk of getting into dangerous situations. By installing a secure fence around your garden, you can prevent your cat from escaping and encountering potential hazards outside of your property. It is important to choose a fence that is tall enough to prevent jumping and has small enough gaps to prevent squeezing through. Additionally, make sure to regularly inspect and repair any damage to the fence to maintain its effectiveness in keeping your cat safe.
To sum up, creating a cat-friendly garden doesn't have to be a daunting task. By incorporating a few safe and enriching plants, you can provide your feline friends with a safe and stimulating outdoor environment. Just remember to always do your research before introducing any new plants to your garden and to monitor your cat's behavior and consumption to ensure their safety. With a little bit of effort and knowledge, you can create a garden that both you and your furry companions can enjoy.

yandere jjk thoughts
warning:: nsfw! i’m eighteen and you should be too! hints of kidnapping, non-con, and coercion. nothing is ever really explicitly stated but - still.
a/n: there’s no real rhyme or reason behind this - winter is just my favorite time to snuggle up and read about crazy ppl. also i wrote this in lowercase originally so u see a spot i missed, no u didnt. u can leave requests for different characters if u wanna
Gojo Satoru
In no world could I ever imagine Gojo Satoru treating you like a real human being.
He is the strongest. There is no one who could destroy him. He can see all. And the issue isn’t just that he’s the best, it’s that he’s been told that since the day he opened his bright eyes. He has a big ego and it’s justified because there is no one better than him.
And sure he’ll indulge you. He'll laugh at your jokes and console you when you cry. But in the back of his mind, in every kiss to your forehead, in every smile, there will always be a domineering aspect. Because he knows that you are insignificant in the grand scheme of the world. you are only important because he deemed you worth something.
You’re not quite a toy or a pet to him. You’re more like - an indoor plant to him. Something that needs nurturing from his caring hands, watering and sunlight granted to you by him. You adapt and grow according to his needs and his conditions. But at the same time, you are to be cherished. never handled too roughly, case you begin to wilt. You don’t have to do much but sit and be nurtured and be pretty while he gives you whatever he deems necessary for your survival.
It fascinates him, really, how simple your little life is. How much you don’t know and never will know because as a flower, all you need to understand is that water and sunlight and love are given to you before you’ll even realize that you need it.
But you still have a job to be pretty and sometimes that’s sitting on the bed, still, as he observes you or bouncing on his cock. It just depends on the day.
Geto Suguru
Suguru is a calm man, a quiet man. He makes decisions based on logic. He is not exactly one for emotional outbursts, and even at his angriest, he rarely raises his voice.
But you.
A little non-sorcerer that can’t even see curses somehow made him look twice. Little unimportant you constantly runs through his mind. What you’re doing, what you’ve eaten, what places you’ve gone to. Who you’ve talked to, who your friends are. Your hobbies, your interests. Your lips and your eyes and that special something between your legs.
Just thinking about you, even innocently, makes him harden. It’s uncomfortable, it’s infuriating, it’s maddening.
He thought, surely someone in your family was a sorcerer, a powerful one at that. But no, your family is normal. You are, genetically, as average as they come.
He doesn’t treat you softly at first, doesn’t have a mind to. You’re a filthy little nothing, after all. When he fucks, he fucks without care. Suguru treats you like a doll, not made of porcelain but made of cloth, one he can throw around and still be in decent condition. He keeps a hand pressed to your mouth, to keep your voice down. A blindfold around your eyes so he doesn’t have to look into them. Your hands are bound behind your back so you don't touch him even by accident. Flat on your stomach, unable to see or feel or say anything is how you find yourself every time. He doesn’t even come inside of you, the only thing you’re grateful for.
It’s scary, how roughly he treats you. But it’s downright terrifying when he begins to lay softer hands upon you, begins to kiss instead of bite, caress instead of pinch.
Nanami Kento
He is a very traditional and stern man.
You are, silly, to him. stumbling and bumping and in general, unsure of yourself and what to do. But he sees potential. Even when you’ve tripped over thin air or broken something by accident, there’s a certain grace to your movements. A grace he wants to harvest and invest in.
And while he wants to give you direction, he also doesn’t have the patience or time to teach you like he wants. So, it’s best to ‘learn on the job’ when it comes to Kento.
Learn how to cook his favorite meals and bake the sweets he loves just right. When he’s okay with speaking and when he needs quiet. Remembering to kiss him goodbye every morning and remove his coat for him every night.
Learn how to suck his cock right - which vein is most sensitive, when to suckle and gag and slurp, what noises to make, and remember to always always swallow. He hates messes after all.
Learn his favorite positions. The lingerie sets he like best. How loudly he wants you to be. Accept his cum in your tummy with a smile.
It’s not hard - please him and you will be rewarded. Rewarded with pleasure, with time outside, with gentle hands.
And if you stumble or forget, he will easily remind you of your job.
Mahito
You’re his personal entertainment. You’re an experiment.
Mahito is incredibly laid-back, even lazy to an extent. He lets you roam and explore and fall. He doesn’t care what you do as long as you stay within the four walls he’s placed you in.
It's hard to understand him. For a curse, he’s always laughing, finding almost child-like joy in the most odd things. Whether that’s watching an animal documentary or wondering if a human’s neck can extend like the turtles on TV.
One thing you do know is that he likes games and he likes playing with you. The only problem is you don’t when the game starts and ends, the rules or even if you’re playing right. Oftentimes, you find yourself playing a game that you don’t know the rules of and Mahito has named himself the gamekeeper.
He usually starts by asking a question. Something simple like “What time did you wake up?” or “What did you eat today?”. You find out the hard way that no matter what you say, you’re always wrong.
Say you woke up at ten? Then you’ll find yourself pressing into the mattress, drooling on your pillow as he drills you, punishing you for waking so late in the day. You had a slice of cake earlier? Then don’t be surprised when you’re in the kitchen licking icing off his cock as punishment for an unhealthy lunch.
Itadori Yuuji
He's the jock that gave you a chance. That made you feel special and pretty and popular.
He's sweet. He gives you his hoodie when you’re cold. He drives you home after school. Buys you lunch when you can’t afford it. Takes you on nice dates.
He wants you sitting front row at all his games, wearing his varsity jacket so everyone knows you’re his girl. He twirls you and kisses you in front of the whole school when he wins, the whole thing right of a cheesy rom-com.
But, surely, you didn’t think he was doing all that for free? No, he wants compensation. He deserves a reward for treating you so sweetly. It's only fair.
It doesn’t matter if you’re ‘not ready’. No, no, you’re just nervous, sweetheart. But he’ll be gentle with you so calm down. Yeah, calm down when he slides a hand up your skirt on a date to the movies. Be quiet when he asks you for head in the janitor’s closet between classes. And don’t make a fuss when he slips his cock inside of you, raw, even though you begged him to use a condom.
‘Rubbers hurt,’ he says. ‘It feels better raw’,’ he pleads. ‘Don’t worry - I'll pull out.,’ he promises.
And you better be understanding when he comes inside of you. Afterall, he’ll buy you a plan b.
Choso
Whatever you do, do not stress this man.
He’s going through enough as is. The last thing he needs from you is any attitude or ungratefulness. Even an upset face will have you with your knees pushed beside your head and Choso making you scream, all while watching you with that same tired expression.
Choso is the oldest of ten siblings. He is used to dealing with bratty behavior. He handles your tantrums with grace - once you’ve finished throwing things and screaming, he’ll only ask if you're finished. And then he will be upon you.
But, beyond punishment, he is caring and quiet. He prefers it when you speak, likes it when you prattle on about your day or your favorite show. He likes it when you’re happy.

Ok, now I'm really concerned that how to prevent rats isn't common knowledge like I thought it was. So, to anyone whose parents/guardians/adults didn't teach you, here's the basics of prevention*:
Rats, like you, need three things: food, water, and shelter. If they don't get these things, they don't bother sticking around. Access to food is probably the biggest draw, and the one you can do the most about.
Rats eat the same foods you do, and the same food that most pets eat. You don't want them to have access to this food, so:
Don't leave dirty dishes laying around, the smell will attract rats. Don't put leave dirty dishes in your bed room, or under the couch, or in your car, or whatever. Dishwashers are great, but if you don't have a functional one, and you're low on energy/executive function, at a minimum cover your dirty dishes with soapy water instead of leaving them out. Rats can't eat soapy food.
Work to minimize food waste, because the smell of tasty food in your compost or garbage will attract rats.
Don't put food scraps in your indoor garbage unless your garbage can is rat proof. Take it outside asap, to a rat-proof bin.
When composting, if you're composting food that would be attractive to rats (grains, fats/oils, dairy, meat) it's best to: bury the food down in the center of the pile, try out bokashi composting, or have a rat-proof composter. Generally people do tell you not to compost dairy and meat, but I do know that some people do it anyway.
Keep your grains & legumes in rodent proof-containers. Glass jars, metal trash cans, etc.
If you have dogs, put their food away at night. If you have birds or other animals that eat a seed-based diet, then it pays to make their food/enclosures inaccessible to rats as well. Cats are rat deterrents so leaving dry food out for them is probably the one exception.
Clean up spilled foods immediately.
If you have fruit trees (like those apple trees everyone has that were planted 3 or more decades ago) and notice that something besides a deer is eating them, it's really best to pick all the fruit. You probably can't eat it all, so giving it away is a good option. Compost the rotten/icky ones fallowing the advice above, or dig a hole and do some trench composting.
Rats also need water, which is another reason to make sure you don't have any leaks anywhere, and to not leave beverages out in open containers.
Beyond that, thoroughly looking around your house, inside and out, to make sure there's no access points. Vents can be covered with wire mesh, holes the size of a dime need to be patched (because mice exist, too). Keep vegetation clear from around the base of your house, and make sure there's no trees or shrubs growing close enough to your house that a rat could make the leap to your roof. Keep an eye out for tunnels near your house's foundation, because they will tunnel underneath.
Also, while I'm at it, for the love of your house's structural integrity, DO NOT store wood piles against your house. Termites people!!!
And yes, there's a reason why cats are such a common pet. Not only do they hunt rats, the very smell of a cat is enough to deter rats. Do not just get a cat for rat prevention though, only get a cat if you're going to provide it a good home and are able to take on the additional care tasks without over extending yourself. Getting a housemate that comes with a cat is a great alternative to getting your own cat (and I'm only halfway joking).
*because prevention is much easier and much less terrible than dealing with an infestation. Prevention is so, so, so much easier than getting rid of them, particularly because once they're there, they'll start eating other things that wouldn't have been enough by themselves to draw them in.

seventeen and plants
how good i think seventeen would be at looking after plants
masterlist
Tumblr media
seungcheol:
the most plant dad to ever plant dad. owns like 5 succulents, 2 mini herbal bushes and several little flower pots. has a watering rota that he follows to the T n whenever he goes away he has one of the members swear on their svt ring that they'll remember his rota for his beloved plants. probably rants about everything the members have done to annoy him to his plants. they're his pride and joy.
jeonghan:
could definitely grow a plant if he wanted to, provided he developed an emotional attachment to it so he wouldn't forget to keep it alive. prefers his pets to be inanimate and unalive like his rocks so he doesn't have to worry about them dying on him. once had to look after dokyeom's plant when he was away for a week, had to be reminded by seungcheol to water it
joshua:
feels really bad for houseplants bc they're trapped in a pot and they're kept indoors :((( could probably grow a plant if he wanted to, but he's never really wanted to n never really tried so he doesn't know. plants aren't really His Thing. plus his hay fever is rlly erratic and could flare up at Anything. finds great amusement in seungcheol's watering rota, once messed it up to see how long it took for him to find out, was caught in less than ten seconds
junhui:
wants to grow plants!!! just doesn't have the patience nor the time for it. likes talking to minghao's tree. and dokyeom's plant. doesn't talk to seungcheol's plants a lot tho bc apparently they're rlly snooty and keep talking back to him whenever he says something???? the members can't tell if he's actually a plant whisperer or if it's just all in his head
hoshi:
once owned 3 little cacti that he bought impulsively one time when they were in america. grew strangely attached to his weird fluffy spiky plants despite not rlly being much of a plant person. one of them ended up being killed by wonwoo, one other was sat on by hansol (accidentally) and the last one ended up being adopted by seungcheol bc the eldest was worried that something catastrophic would end up happening to it.
wonwoo:
has the most un-green fingers in the world. everything he so much as glances at dies. which is really weird, bc he tries his best, following all the instructions n everything and yet somehow he still managed to kill one of hoshi's cacti, resulting in the other being inconsolable for several days. concludes that growing plants are Not For Him, but finds that he's okay at following seungcheol's plant rota for a couple of days
jihoon:
can't take care of plants. he's a Busy Man okay, and even though he'd really like to, he's kind of busy taking care of himself to think about another living thing. sometimes helps minghao trim his bonsai tree when he's upset, but wasn't allowed anywhere near seungkwan's plants (when they were alive) bc for some reason the younger member thought that they would die the second jihoon touched them
minghao:
owns a bonsai tree that he bought from china a few years ago. very precious to him, whispers mysterious stuff in mandarin to it every evening after he's done his meditation routine. only lets a select few touch his tree, and definitely doesn't let hansol or wonwoo come within three metre radius of it. doesn't have a water rota like seungcheol, instead has Intuition that means he suddenly bolts upright and scurries away to water his tree bc it is Calling To Him
mingyu:
can't raise plants, doesn't want to raise plants. says that he once owned a lily plant back in high school whenever the members tell him that he can't keep anything alive and intact. is then always reminded that he ended up dropping it out the open window while he was trying to clean the window sill. but that's not his point!!! he managed to keep it alive up until his hand-eye coordination acted up again
dokyeom:
used to refuse getting plant gifts from people n for his birthday bc he believed that every plant he ever had would only ever die tragically in his care. that is, until minghao suggested that he sings to the plants and suddenly!! every living green thing within his vicinity is flourishing!!! has one beloved chinese evergreen plant that is his everything. does his vocal exercises to the plant every single morning
seungkwan:
went through a craze of owning like 10 potted ferns. you couldn't go into his room without feeling like you'd entered the fern jungle. ended up being so stressed over maintaining them that he overwatered three of them so they died. then accidentally knocked over another two while walking into his room with his vision blocked by his pile of laundry. the other five ended up dying within the year too bc he kept the heating too high (he always runs a little cold) and they couldn't withstand the temperature and died :((
vernon:
isn't allowed anywhere near anyone else's plants after the incident with hoshi's cactus. but in his defence, it was partly hoshi's fault bc who leaves a cactus plant on the chair in the dining room where anyone could sit down on it??? had sore buttcheeks for over a week after that n couldn't sit down without wincing. doesn't really want to take care of plants. once helped seungkwan water his ferns, back when they were still alive, but that's about it
chan:
once owned a mini peace lily plant that managed to grow so beautifully despite the fact he did the bare minimum to look after it bc he was so busy. the hidden master when it comes to looking after plants. is one of the people that minghao trusts with his bonsai tree, sometimes is allowed to watch minghao perform his ceremony with the plant. doesn't have time to look after plants tho, n ended up giving away his lily to seungcheol, who promised vv solemnly to take good care of it

depression hacks masterpost
these are things that will help with mental illness that aren't 'go outside, drink water, and everything will be fine!!!1!!!11!1!11!' those are good fs but they don't work on their own. these will actually help in one way or another :)
hell yeah let's go
open your windows. the fresh air and sunlight will do you good and it takes like 5 seconds.
go buy some plants, there are like a gazillion that are next to impossible to kill. and don't come at me with 'ohhh I'll probably find a way hahaha" NO. the plants will be so helpful! they produce oxygen, bring nature indoors which psychologically improves your mental state, and they're just nice to look at! you can name them! sculpt and/or paint little pots for them!
STOP LISTENING TO SAD MUSIC. I cannot stress this enough. it just makes things worse. please stop. make a playlist of all your favorite stupid, happy, pump-up songs and listen to them all the time until they get annoying. then repeat!
acquire a gazillion stuffed animals. so much serotonin for such a small price
get a water bottle and put fun stickers on it, and designate that water bottle to be only for water. nothing else goes in it. that way you can drink out of it for kind of a long time before needing to wash it. keep it filled with water and actually drink out of it. drink as much water as you can, all the time.
chew gum! idk why but it works bro. especially watermelon.
hug people and ask people to hug you. hugs are so amazing it's like pure happiness but with the added perk of Deep Pressure. it can be from your friends, family, s/o, whoever.
make sure there's a lot of light in your room. not good to wallow in darkness. put up fairy lights, get fun lamps, light candles, keep your blinds open, etc.
dress like how you want to feel. be colorful, fun, and comfortable. don't wear hoodies, sweatpants and ratty old shoes, I know it's appealing but it's just going to keep you in that depressed state. I like to wear dresses, colorful jeans, graphic tees from 5-Below, combat boots, and lots of funky earrings. (seriously 5-Below is a lifesaver for literally anything!!!) you can get a lot of these things for super cheap - I got a 20 pack of fun earrings like duckies, mushrooms, mini water bottles, etc. for like $11, and a lot of my colorful jeans are like 6 bucks at the thrift store. whatever your style is or whatever you want it to be, work to make that happen. because getting dressed is one of the simplest things you'll do in a day, so why not make the most of it?
doodle. it's fun and simple, and it'll give your hands something to do other than pick at your skin if you do that kind of stuff (see below).
on a similar note, make art!!!!! it doesn't have to be good!!!!!! just make art all the time, as often as you can. write crappy fanfiction. make friendship bracelets. sculpt a funky lil cat. draw your comfort characters. art is so healing and it will do wonders for you. even just like run your hands through a giant bag of beads like I do :P
get fidgets and bring them everywhere with you. this is more of an anxiety/stimming thing for me but I pick at my fingers, lips, pimples, eyebrows, etc., and it hurts a lot and will probably leave scars. fidgets are just amazing. I'm partial to tangles and infinity cubes :) gum and chewelry are good for this as well (for when I bite my fingers/clothes or chew the skin off my lips)
if you find yourself with a whole day with nothing to do and you don't have the energy to get up and do anything, go to the park. bring a blanket, some snacks, and headphones, and just lay there and listen to music. sleep. watch youtube. literally anything you would normally do when you don't have energy, except it's outside in the sun and grass and nature around other people who are doing the same thing! 10/10
get a pet if you can. even just fish, but really a fluffy, snuggly animal is probably best such as a dog or cat. OH MY GOD THEY HELP SO MUCH. ANIMALS ARE MAGIC. I don't think I've ever been sad while holding or petting my grandma's dog. (our family doesn't have one right now lol)
spray perfume/body spray on you. faster and easier than deodorant and it usually smells better
if you're gonna scroll, scroll pinterest. honestly, it's probably best to get rid of things like tiktok and snapchat, but that's kinda unrealistic for most people so I get it <3 pinterest is probably gonna be better than other social media cause it's more creative?? if you know what I mean?? and usually it's reading things and not mindlessly watching videos
if you don't have the energy to do stuff with your hair, put it up in a bun! fast simple and easy. takes like 5 seconds, even for someone with super thick curly hair like me. (or cut it short! but most of us aren't brave enough to do that lol)
eat fruit. sweet and comforting, but healthy!! so much better for you than junk food, and honestly it tastes better most of the time too. I recommend strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, watermelon, and cantaloupe. easy to take with you on the go and sooooo good <333
play calming video games such as animal crossing, minecraft, stardew valley, cats with soup (if you're into mobile games), etc. puzzle games are good too! if you want something more combat-y, I would recommend the zelda games or forager. still chill and mellow but has more combat and story/lore
garden if you can. I know this kind of ties in with having plants in your room, but if you're able and you have the energy, keep a flower and/or vegetable garden. there's something so beautiful in putting your hands in the warm dirt, smelling your freshly-planted flowers, eating sun-infused vegetables that taste infinitely better than store-bought. it's so nice, but I know it's not for everyone so don't worry about it if you don't get around to it <3
sleep in the bus/car on the way to school if you're tired. not a perfect solution but better than falling asleep in class
inhale through your nose, not your mouth. it's better for your lungs and you'll get better air quality that way. it also helps calm you better than mouth breathing, and you can't exactly smell the fresh air through your mouth :P
read. sit down and read a book. carry one with you wherever you go. spend a weekend day in the library with a huge stack of books just reading. it's so calming and helps stimulate your brain. doesn't matter what you read as long as it's making you happy :)
surround yourself with color, not dark drab colors. hang up art and posters on your walls, get bright blankets and pillows, lay out a tiny lil carpet, make bead curtains and string them up on your curtain rod, set out little figurines/sculptures around your room. put color and life everywhere around you, and that will start to seep into your soul.
tea is always good. or if you don't like tea, hot water with lemon juice and honey. basically the same :)
if you ever just don't want to do something, like you just absolutely don't want to get up and do _ thing, think about future you. would they be like "bro thanks so much you really helped me out there" if you did the thing? if yes, then do it, no matter how impossible it seems. you'll thank yourself later.
a statement that is near and dear to my heart: if you feel like everyone hates you, sleep. if you feel like you hate everyone, eat. if you feel like you hate yourself, shower.
NO MORE SU!C!DE JOKES. ever. the end! replace "i'm literally gonna kms" jokes or anything along those lines with "i'm literally gonna flop to the floor" or "i'm literally gonna go ham bananas on this place" or whatever wild bullshit pops into your brain.
watch studio ghibli movies. the most amazing things to ever exist. I have never felt sad while watching a ghibli movie. they are basically the definition of peace.
take a bubble bath!!!!! :D
making your bed helps for some reason??? why, I have no idea. but it does bro
get excited about things. smile when you hear your favorite song. hug your amazon package when it comes in. count down the days until a holiday. laugh with joy when you have an amazing day. it makes things so much better.
an important addition: bring snacks everywhere
that's all for now, lmk if you have anything else to add!!! love you guys, I promise it gets better <3

a/n: look, i know there is a small minority of us in the jjk fandom that believes nanami kento is autistic, so this post won't appeal to the masses. if you don't like this, nor agree with it, that's fine (that's why fanon and au's are cool). just don't be a dickhead and leave mean comments. also, this was co-written by my beloved sibling @lesbian-choso. go check out his blog; they make lovely traditional art.

Flat affect — no explanation needed.
Stims: jiggling his watch, cracking his knuckles and other joints, pacing around.
This man cannot stand loud noises, though controlled loud sounds, like listening to his screamo playlist, is totally fine.
I firmly believe he sleeps like a dead person at an open-casket funeral. His bed sheet is in a straight line across his chest, with his arms lying flat on either side of his torso — Back Sleeper™️. Best believe he can't sleep unless his room is 18°C, with his bedsheets and duvet even on each side of the bed, and a fresh bottle of water on his bedside table (in case he wakes up and feels parched).
Whilst he isn't a fan of journals and diaries, Kento makes sure to regularly update his calendar on his phone, as well as the one attached to Outlook.
Spreadsheets and to-do lists, he thrives off of these. How else is he to keep up with life?
He is very aware of the fabrics and textures that make contact with his skin. This is why his wardrobe is predominantly made up of soft materials like cotton and cashmere. If he has to wear anything woollen, a lightweight layer of clothing goes underneath; he can't stand the itchiness.
Kento doesn't like mixing cold and warm food, and he tries his best to keep the food on his plate from touching each other (this doesn't apply to food like fried rice).
He irons his bedsheets and underwear — don’t ask. Kento also regularly washes his curtains and steams them once they’re dry (no creases, he hates them).
Exclusively purchases one type of deodorant; it has something to do with the smell and texture. He can’t stand aerosols because of the intensity of their smell (it gets into the back of his throat), and the gel deodorants feel uncomfortable on his underarms. Kento also isn’t a fan of perfume, though, there was one he liked that he stocked up on. Sadly, he hasn’t been able to find anything similar.
“Don’t come in the kitchen whilst I'm cooking.” — Kento to Satoru when he senses him about to step in. He can't share the space, it becomes claustrophobic.
Baking is his special interest; he has an absurd amount of information about this art form stored in his noggin. Dare I say he would own a bread encyclopaedia if it existed. Whilst bread is his favourite form of baked good, from time to time, he attempts to make confectionary, specifically those made of phyllo pastry. On the rare occasion, he might bake a pie or cake.
This man owns a lint roller because of his pet cats; he is not a first-time cat owner. Whilst his home is relatively clean, he can't help but feel the need to pick up those stray cat hairs. He doesn't want to accidentally get any in his mouth.
Speaking of his home, Kento's apartment is relatively minimalist, though the colour palette is warm and welcoming (lots of blues and browns). The only part of his home that is “messy” is one nook in his living room. The bookcase is overflowing with unread books, some sitting in neat stacks on the floor, whilst others are in cardboard boxes acting as surfaces for his potted plants. There are a few old newspapers and magazine recipes strewn on his desk, a cold cup of coffee, and two pen holders jam-packed with various dry markers and inkless pens. It's a sort of organised chaos.
He exclusively wears slippers and thongs/flip-flops indoors. He can’t stand walking around barefoot, it’s uncomfortable, and he doesn’t like his feet being cold or picking up any hair, lint, or crumbs that collect on the floor (despite his home being borderline sterile).

A wip snippet of my snack fic where Sirius and Harry become Severus' new neighbors
Severus woke up early, like always, and drank his cuppa tea, like always. He grabbed the remote from between the couch cushions, turned on the telly, and went to the front door to pick up the newspaper, like always. Routine was safe. It was what kept his life from being turned upside down.  He flipped through the paper while a rerun of an 80s show played in the background. Suddenly, an annoyingly loud honking sound outside. Jumping out of his comfortable seat, he peeked out of his window blinds and saw a movers’ truck. Severus groaned. Mrs.Kilpatrick, his next door neighbor, had recently passed away from old age, and her children had decided to sell her home. Severus had not cared for the woman with her ten cats that roamed free and ate his garden’s plants. Yet she and her cats had been part of his routine. New neighbors meant having to adjust all over again.  Severus saw a boy no older than ten run out of the truck; the first thing he noticed was his unruly brown hair and crooked glasses. Then the boy shouted, “Padfoot, hurry up.” Out came a tall man, no jumper on to protect from the morning chill, showing off his tattooed arms. This "Padfoot" (what an outlandish name) person laughed heartily, showing off his pearly white teeth. Severus felt the vein in his forehead immediately begin to throb. His new neighbors seemed to be the sort to introduce themselves to the whole neighborhood and expect them to be neighborly by making small talk. Severus loathed small talk.  He shut the blinds and went about his business, ignoring his new neighbors’ moving ruckus as best as he could. After showering in lukewarm water, he dressed in his usual black attire and went into his childhood room, which was now remodeled as his study room. He graded his students’ assignments until the alarm he set went off.  Stretching his arms to get rid of his stiff neck and shoulders, he stood up and walked to his garden. His irises and camelias were beginning to bloom. He watered the tomatoes, onions, cabbage, and carrots that he planted a few weeks ago. He also watered his indoor plants and changed pots and dirt for the plants that were dry and dying.  Gardening always soothed him. It was a habit he began with his mother. When he was younger, they often could not afford to buy food, so his mother began planting seeds in their backyard until vegetables and fruit grew. (His father allowed his mother this one hobby because it fed them.) Severus was preparing lunch for himself when he heard knocking and then heard the sound of his doorbell. Wiping his hands, he opened his front door to find his new neighbors standing there.  “Hellu, I’m your new neighbor. I wanted to introduce myself to you. I’m Sirius Black and this is my son, Harry. I hope we can get to know each other and get along.”  Severus ignored the man’s outstretched hand, sneering at it. “Do you have any pets?” Sirius dropped his hand, his smile becoming a tad forced. “We do. A dog. His name is Lady. He’s a sweetheart; he loves to run around outside and play fetch.” “Keep him out of my garden.” He shut the door in his face. Severus heard Black say loudly, “What a rude man. I didn’t even get his name. Come on, Harry. Let’s hope our other neighbors are better.” “Anyone would be better than him. Did you see the way he looked at us? Like we were bugs.” The last thing Severus heard was that irritating belly laugh.  — From that point on, Severus received gifts from his annoyingly cheerful neighbor every few days. First it was freshly baked bread, then a pie, until the gifts became outrageously expensive. Severus walked to Black’s front door and knocked with extra force in his knocks. The boy opened the door, his hair looking like he had just rolled out of bed. “Is your father home?” The boy blinked up at him like an idiot before screaming for dad to come down.

Saw this tag game on another post and thought I'd do it (idk if I've done it before, maybe something similar, but my answers will be different anyway)
1. Were you named after anyone?
Nope My chosen name (Allister) however, is from a youtuber who has a very cool name and I stole it (Alasdair Beckett-King, very funny videos and he has great hair too). I adapted it a bit so people in Spain would at least have an idea of how to pronounce it at first glance (hopefully) It has nothing to do with any Crowley (which I did not realize was a thing until recently), tho for a bit I named myself AJ like Good Omens Crowley, but I don't like how it sounds in Spanish...
2. When was the last time you cried?
Last month probably
3. Do you have kids?
No. And I don't want any. I don't dislike them, but it's not for me
4. What sports do you play/have you played?
Judo, karate and football (the indoors kind). All as a kid/teen. Now my brother and I walk every week day and go up and down stairs (when we remember...) One day I want to try to go to a gym to get some muscle, but not too much, just a bit of definition. Also, I'd enjoy doing rock climbing, but not competitive climbing or anything like that
5. Do you use sarcasm?
Sometimes
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Irl: the way they move their face and hands when they speak, which then I subconsciously use to recognize people, bc I'm a bit face blind Online: the way they choose to express themselves
7. What's your eye color?
Gray/light blue on the outside and artichoke green/lime on the inside
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
I like both, but I'd rather watch a happy ending. For scary things I prefer to watch Markiplier's scary games videos
9. Any talents?
I'm VERY good at jigsaw puzzles
10. Where were you born?
East of Spain, by some of the best Mediterranean coasts 😁. I enjoy it here, but one day I'd like to live in the UK, at least for a bit, I think I'd like it there
11. What are your hobbies?
Listening to music, singing, making art (crafting, building, drawing, painting, writing, ...), watching media (shows, panel shows, youtube, twitch), video games (rhythm/dancing, platformer, puzzle... Also minecraft, powerwash sim, potion craft...), going for walks, exercise, learning languages (especially English) If I had any good ones close, I'd go to theatres and museums too. And, if I had money, I'd travel. I'm also slowly learning about taking care of plants
12. Do you have any pets?
Not yet. I'd love to have dogs, cats, frogs, snakes... or anything really. I love animals. But I think cats and frogs would be the best fit for me, considering my personality and current lifestyle I've always wanted a dog, but I've only had a turtle and a hamster
13. How tall are you?
1.63m or 5’3”
14. Favorite subject in school?
Biology and technology
15. Dream job?
Anything that pays me enough to be independent and let me do all my hobbies Although, if I ever have the patience, base skill, and required mental fortitude, I'd go for general robotics and/or prop making (for film and/or theatre)
No pressure tags in no particular order (I tried to tag as many people as I could, but apparently there's a tag limit 😅):
@swamp-communism @they-thespian666 @strongsuits @skelesona @shinekittenace @yeetmewithachainsaw @rockium-z @gordonzola-ramen @vampireopossum @libraryfag @frostytheduck @tetostar @xyrnys @normalscientist @dolltwink @anxi0usgh0st05 @piersgender

@galacticnova3 submitted: Some pictures of Ipoaf, my late pet Carolina mantis. She was very well-traveled, having stuck around after her potted plant home was relocated multiple times, climbing up onto the patio roof, hanging out on my shoulder as I walked around the yard, taking a trip to college to meet my entomology professor and class, and soon retiring to a comfortable life in a vivarium in my room. The only time I ever saw her do any defensive posturing(showing off her bright yellow underwings) was at a small cricket I tried to feed her; she was overall very chill and fun to look after for the few months she was around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found her when she was much smaller, but she never lost her little creacher charm even when she was all grown up. Instead of posing with her arms she tended to look more like she was smiling almost.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She did give a very good example of how sometimes creatures look significantly less elegant from the front, though.
Tumblr media
And displayed that even a mantis can be a sad wet beast; she got rained on because she used to live outdoors on a plant before being moved indoors for her safety. I also wanted to ensure more likely egg survival.
Tumblr media
She managed to lay 4 oothecas, I have two inside and two outside(the ones laid during her outdoor terrarium acclimation period) since I’m not sure if natural temperature fluctuations might be better or not. Though she has passed on, she did mate at least once, so I’m going to do my best to keep her lineage going!
Tumblr media
Oh, and her name was short for Illegal Possession Of A Firearm because I had a theme of naming mantises I found after crimes and she was green and pink(Splatoon colors) when I found her. I couldn’t think of a good spot to slot that in, but it is very key information.
Gosh, she was lovely! Look at her little face. Makes me want to weep. Loooove that the only time she felt threatened was by a small cricket lol. Very scary. I’m glad you’re carrying on her lineage via her hopefully bountiful children! If any emerge successfully, I’d love to see them :)

i still have no idea how to fathom that my beef, my crested gecko & first pet is gone, after 8 years together. i woke up yesterday to find he had passed overnight. he seemed to be lively & well the night before, so i'm not sure of the cause. i know i will always wish i could have done more for him, like i had hoped to hand build hides and climbs for him. but i know my goal was to give him as enriching and loving of a life as i possibly could before I even met him.
in autumn of 2015 i decided to get my first pet independently. as a kid I was a huge animal lover, unsurprisingly preferring their company over people. my mom was always excited to nurture a common interest, and jumped on any opportunity she could to get us pets to learn about all different kinds of animals, from our cat and dog, to fish, frogs, anoles, leopard geckos, even a rabbit & a pair of ducks.
i knew i wanted a reptile companion, but i wasn't sure which kind i'd get along with well and be best equipped to care for. i spent hours researching different types of geckos, bearded dragons, and beginner-level reptiles, until i decided on a crested gecko. i'd never seen creatures like them before, and i was floored to try something entirely new, but with Lots of information online to sift through if i was stumped.
late December arrived, and I was ready to find my new friend. I had a starter 10-gallon enclosure for a younger crestie, and plenty of fake plants and hides for him to explore and get acclimated. i opted to get him at a specialty reptile shop about 40 minutes away. i didn't have a name planned going in, and i think i immediately decided on "beef" when I saw it advertised at a deli.
my family was as smitten by him as I was. my sister loves trying to handle him as much as i did. my mom squealed in delight after i encouraged him to run across my laptop and he shat on the keyboard.
the next summer, my dad called me from a pet shop nearly frantic, asking what kind of vertical 20-gallon tank would best suit him. I was so grateful for the gift, stoked that he would have double the space to explore, hunt, and rest, and unexpectedly solving the "beef is arboreal in a horizontal enclosure," problem. his new tank was so large, i had to relocate it from a small unoccupied corner in my somehow even smaller room, to a hub right between my desk and my bed, always within my view and my reach. by then I'd decided to forego handling him, knowing it wasn't fair to cause him extra stress for my own entertainment if i couldn't do it consistently enough to make him comfortable with it. keeping him next to me was a much happier arrangement for us both.
from there, he moved with me to my first apartment. from tiny corner, to tiny corner, to Big sunny corner by a picture window with an unfortunately dismal view. later on i took up gardening and started my indoor hub next to his tank, extending his overgrown habitat until it took over the living room within a few months. the plants have ebbed and grown with the seasons and my ability to care for them. beef has watched me tend to them curiously for a couple years now. i was hoping to incorporate live plants into his enclosure, but I worried about pests, parasites, plant disease, and anything that could have harmed him. experimenting would be exciting, but ensuring his health came first and foremost.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
everything ends, and all too soon. i find a vacancy in my chest and the joints in my hands aching, as i've spent a few hours on and off piecing this together. i haven't figured out what mourning looks like for me yet. but I know it's important to share the joy he brought to my life, and hope I could have returned a fraction of it.
i am going to bury him in my mom's backyard later this week, after i can prepare a proper little box for him with substrate, moss, and a heart shaped rock i found for him in the river, so many years ago now. i'm unsure of what to with the salt lamp next to his enclosure; it became his the moment i put it next to his tank and hr plastered himself to the glass wall in an attempt to merge with it. i'm going to handwrite this out and bury it with him.
it's been a difficult adjustment. i didn't sleep last night and i have so many memories to roll through. 8 years is a long ass time, and he's been with me through countless stresses & times of turmoil, successes and efforts, people who have come and gone, and gone, and gone. i wonder how many tears he's listened to me cry and vent to him, i wonder how many songs i invented for him on the spot while preparing a meal for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he will be the first family member i ever get to properly mourn. @ashtastica suggested holding a service to remember him, and I couldn't be more grateful. years ago, ash doodled beef if he were a dragon. the boy seemed to approve of his likeness when i initially showed him. i hope i can write or share with him, just the Tiniest Little Facsimile of how loved and adored he was by people all over the place. I have no idea how many people's lives he touched, honestly. he's always been a silly goober of a man, expertly climbing up but always tumbling down the heights of his enclosure... especially to the delight of our cat-children. from when I found him sitting at the end of my bed in December 2017, my cat doom was always fascinated to watch him play around his tank. in early 2022 Belmont joined the audience, and very recently Alkaline has, too. even in his absence they look for him.
Tumblr media
it helps to share this, and i hope you've enjoyed meeting him through our words, pictures, and encounters. hug and pet your creatures soon, and send em my love too 💞

Headcanons about Mar'i and Lian being honorary batcousins?
(they're like 12 in my mind)
Despite both growing up in America, Lian calls it "soccer" while Mar'i insists it's "football"
Mar'i's pet peeve is Lian leaving the strings on the oranges, meanwhile Lian can't fathom why Mar'i doesn't peel her apples
They made money for their school's fundraiser by selling Gatorade outside a stadium on game day
Mar'i has a stronger throw but Lian has the better aim
They hid in Billy Batson's house for a week, accidentally sparking the biggest missing persons story since Jimmy Hoffa, all because they cut each other's bangs with safety scissors after being told not to and couldn't face their parents
They're banned from baking until they're at least 13 because Lian put 1/4 cup of baking soda into the cake batter instead of 1/4 teaspoon
Mar'i built a fort out of Charmin extra-strong rolls believing it'd be enough to keep her mother out and hide the bearded dragon she and Lian bought with their allowance
They hid Jason's keys in a cantaloupe when they didn't want him to leave
In winter, they fill the Wayne Manor pool to make an ice rink
Lian is a skater kid. Mari is a Razor scooter girl
Nobody knows when and how the girls acquired a boat and at this point they're too afraid to ask
Same for the bobsled
Lian had an archery-themed birthday where Roy and Jason took her, Mar'i, and some other kids to an indoor range and one of the targets was a hyper-realistic cake
Lian taught Mar'i how to cuss in Vietnamese, Mar'i dropped a long string in front of her parents thinking neither of them would understand and she lost TV privileges for a night, and after Roy found out Lian had to write a formal apology to the Graysons
Jason, on the other hand, secretly high-fived them and bought them ice cream
They did the "two kids in a long winter coat" trick to get into an adults-only ski lodge
And Mar'i kept their thermoses warm while Lian showed off her snowboard tricks
The first time they saw a shooting star, they wished for the same thing: VIP tickets to Taylor Swift
Lian keeps a bow and arrow in the empty locker next to hers. In the locker after that, Mar'i has batarangs and escrima sticks
They don't want candy or snacks when they go to the grocery store. No, they beg Kory to buy a tuna that's bigger than both of them
They do separate after-school activities with the batfam. Mar'i learns photography from Tim while Lian gets dance tips from Cass
When one's having a bad day, the other will climb through the window with ice cream, pizza, and Home Alone movies
They have $350 on the line and counting for who's gonna get their period first
Mar'i got a gender reveal cake when Lian came out with new pronouns
Neither of them can do a good cartwheel even though Mar'i can defy the laws of gravity and Lian has agility training
They cosplayed as Sailor Mars and Sailor Neptune
For Mar'i's parents' anniversary, she put together a candlelit dinner while Lian sent death threats to any villain that tried to bother them
They don't remember when they met. All they remember is at some point, they appeared in each other's life and just rolled with it
They went to a beach on Tamaran and came back with a space oyster
When Bat-Cow had a calf, Damian let the girls name it. They named it Horse
They also have shared custody of a goldfish they won at the carnival named Booster Goldfish
Lian keeps her wallet in her pocket and a rock in her purse. Mar'i does the opposite
They already mapped out their dream college trip through Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia with every single detail planned... except money
For the next triathlon, Lian's gonna be biking while Mari runs. They're holding tryouts for anyone willing to swim in Gotham's water
They get third place in the state fair photography contest
And second place in growing the best petunia plant
And first place eating through a cherry pie in 30 seconds
Their contact names for each other are "Katniss" and "Jean Grey"
They have a running bet to see who can get their parents the most over-the-top "World's Best ___" merch

So it turns out I have a pet spider now.
When I bought my isopods, they also came with exactly two fruit flies and one tiny baby spider, whom I set free into my room to find freedom and pests.
I discovered it this morning while attempting to feed the droseras some freeze-dried mealworms. It's grown and darkened slightly, but it's the exact same shape and we usually only get jumping spiders indoors, so I feel pretty confident it's the same one.
It could have lived in any random crevice. It could have snuck into the isopod tank. Instead, it seems to have decided that the best possible place for it to set up shop is under a leaf in my carnivorous plant terrarium. AKA the only place in my entire room with something that could reasonably be considered a predator.
Bruh.
So I, of course, have decided it's my responsibility to feed my tiny charge. I assume it's been surviving off of springtails so far, but it also turns out to be more than willing to scavenge pre-killed prey (the aforementioned mealworms). Luckily, I'll be visiting a friend over the weekend, which will put me in proximity to a store where I can buy fruit flies or some other live prey - maybe bigger springtails? I'm tempted to go whole hog and set up a tan for it, but it's so tiny I feel like it would simply leave and return to the Orb.
I love it already.
Shown: the baby determinedly making off with a dried mealworm head larger can its whole body.

8 Different Empaths
Empaths are highly sensitive individuals, who have a keen ability to sense what people around them are thinking and feeling.
1. Physical empath
Physical empathy is when you’re attuned to other people’s physical symptoms and you tend to absorb them into your own body. This goes beyond naturally contagious gestures, like laughter and yawning. If your friend is in the throes of a screamingly painful migraine headache then expect to feel tension in your temples as well. You can also be energized by someone else’s sense of well being. Physical empaths might be wise to get themselves a dedicated gym buddy.
2. Emotional empath
An emotional empath is someone who picks up on the emotions of others. This can be lovely in effect, like when your friend gets a promotion and you can feel their happiness. However, emotional empaths can get truly exhausted by friends who are constant complainers who dwell in the negative, or narcissists who suck up all the attention and never reciprocate when they’re feeling down. Emotional empaths tend to be the first people to get drained by emotional vampires. So make sure to practice self care and learn how to differentiate other people’s emotions from your own.
3. Intuitive empath
Emotional empathy is often a component of being an intuitive empath without it being the defining factor. Intuitive empaths generally can sense the unspoken in terms of what’s going on, and that can encompass many qualities. Emotional empaths simply pick up the emotions of others, but an intuitive empath can sense the unspoken in terms of what’s going on. Think of it as having a very thorough, almost holistic kind of superpower. Intuitive empaths experience extraordinary perceptions, such as heightened intuition, messages in threes, animal and plant communication, as well as pick up other people’s emotions.
4. Dream empath
Dream empaths can receive intuitive information from dreams that helps themselves and others. That’s because these types of empaths are typically gifted at clearly remembering dreams. They are able to source wisdom from a deceased relative. A dream empath is also someone who’s able to read between the lines and tease meaning from their own dreams and those of others.
5. Psychometric empath
These empaths feel their connection with inanimate objects, receiving energy, impressions, and information from various belongings such as photographs, clothing, jewelry, furniture and more. It is said that everything we interact is infused with our energy, and while most find no difference with inanimate objects, Psychometric Empaths believe that an object can tell a story.
6. Plant empath
If you’re a plant empath, you can accurately feel the needs of plants and connect with their essence. People who wilt with their blooms and drink with their succulents aren’t just the best Plant Moms ever, They also probably make for great people friends. One of the benefits of being a plant-lover is that offering tenderness to saplings may help you become more compassionate in other areas of life.
7. Earth empath
Earth empaths are rocking a similar vibe to the plant empaths in that both have their hearts tuned to nature. But while your garden-variety plant empath is more attuned to indoor ferns, earth empaths more so relate to what’s going on with the whole universe. The earth empaths are attuned to changes in our planet and our solar system and the weather, so let’s say there’s an earthquake. They can sometimes feel it beforehand or if the Amazon forest is being ravaged, it feels like pain in their body.
8. Animal empath
Animal empaths are the people who are always hanging with the pet at the party. They have a special connection with animals in that they can often feel their needs and communicate with them in a soothing manner. They cannot stomach any violence toward animals.

Orchids: Their Care and Use in Magic
Tumblr media
Orchids are by far my favorite flower and for many reasons. They are beautiful, easy to purchase (you can usually find full grown orchids at your local florist or supermarket), and come in some of the most dazzling colors in creation. They are also one of the more overlooked magical flowers to use. Below I will go over the uses, care of, and nature of these picky little beauties.
One of the best thing about Orchids is they are an indoor plant not typically associated with witchcraft, which is perfect for those in the broom closet!

Uses
Orchids are a water element plant with power in both the Venus and Aquarius signs. Orchids are associated with the gods Bacchus and Pan. During a celebration of Bacchanalia, the celebrants killed the son of a satyr. When the satyr prayed to the gods to be given pity, his son was given eternal life and turned into an Orchid, which is how they came to be. Orchids are mainly used in love spells, however are also good for communication. Giving an orchid to a person is said to help put romantic energy into movement. The tubes that hold the flowers, once dried, can be turned into powerful amulets for love. Orchids are also good for contacting the spirit realm, as well as for letting your loved one know you are thinking of them. Overall Orchids are a wonderful flower and plant to use for any spell to contact someone you love either living or dead, help grow new love, and help create peace and harmony in a given space.

Care
So Orchids are a bit picky to everything, too much water and their roots rot, too much light and they burn. Do not put them in soil!!! They require a bark and peat mixture to grow as they breathe through their roots. Water them once a week or so by letting running water flow through the bark and drain, only for a few moments. Alternatively, you can soak them in a small layer of water for about 15 minutes. DO NOT USE ICE TO WATER!! This is a common misunderstanding and can lead to damage to the roots! Place them in a well lit room with no direct sunlight. The room also needs to be able to get to complete darkness overnight as Orchids are one of the few plants that need to “sleep”, by not being in a dark enough room for about 7 hours a night, they could die. When the last few flowers fall off, cut the stem tube they grew from off but leave the rest of the plant. The stem tube can be dried and used for amulets and talismans and, as long as you continue taking care of the plant under the right conditions, they will bloom again and again (I have had mine for close to 5 years now!). There are many subspecies of Orchids, some may be toxic to pets if ingested. Please always do your research before adding them to your home for your furry friends.
