What kind of Internet Vibes do the different Vampire Clans have?
Assamites: The most impenetrable discourse you've ever seen in your life. The kind of callouts where you need 350 years of context and several PhDs to figure out what the person's actually being accused of. Despite the fact that maybe 10 non-vampires on earth know what any given post means, it still gets 80,000 notes worth of argument.
Brujah: An otherwise blank page that simply says "if you venmo $20 to this account I will eat your landlord no questions asked"
Followers Of Set: As a group of soulless immortal monsters dedicated to spreading wickedness in service of an ancient god of evil, the Followers Of Set's profiles sometimes make the top ten most fucked up things you've seen online today.
Gangrel: Extremely distressing furry art pages.
Giovanni: They reanimate dead memes and send them after you. More then one prince has been destroyed after having a LolCat captioned "I can has your soul?" myspaced to them.
Lasombra: The Lasombra don't show up on camera so instead of putting out content they just break into your house while you sleep.
Malkavian: Listen. Listen. You look me in the eyes and tell me you aren't following at least one blog obviously run by Malkavians right now.
Nosferatu: Monsterfuckers but the other way round.
Ravnos: Sadly if I continue White Wolf will delete my blog for bringing up that time they wrote the Ravnos.
Toreador: Toreadors have literally never experienced anything they have loved more then Instagram. The entire clan has gone feral, several elders have been killed over follower counts and the Toreador Antediluvian reentered torpor because it couldn't stop Instagram scrolling. It's a fucking bloodbath.
Tremere: You know those "occult safety" tumblrs that say things "don't use Ouija boards on Halloween"? The opposite of those. "Hey kids! Break a cursed doll over your head while yelling the true name of Satan! It'll be cool and fun!"
Tzimisce: Yet more unrealistic beauty standards for women.
Ventrue: Those weird focused group "cool tweets" designed to appeal to the youth, except the focus group is 1000 years old. Ever had a tweet show up in your feed "You know what's leet and unsus? The divine right of kings"? You're welcome!

Hunter - 6ut's Tremere OC! I was told he's a Southern boy covered in tats and as a Southern Woman with some tats myself I was very intrigued....
Cassidy - Blood-bound's Tremere OC! I was told he has sad tired eyes and he may be kind of baby boy to me now...
Willow - LGBTMI's Toreador! She's so lovely and has a great aesthetics/reference side blog that really helped!
Linden- Spell-Fox's stunning OC! I love their entire vibe, the patterns, the COLORS.

I wonder if Lucy was naturally more sensitive to psychic forces?
Oh, I've been chewing on this topic with regards to her and Mina, actually 👀 I kind of picture it as both girls being on different ends of the Eerie Energy Radar spectrum, for better and worse.
Lucy is more susceptible to the unpleasant vibes Dracula is sending out, versus Mina who is aware of something being off, as seen with her unease over Jonathan's absence and Dracula approaching the shore. As the novel progresses, we're going to see exactly what kind of psychic weight Dracula has to throw around with 'susceptible' minds, human or otherwise, just as we're going to see flashes of Mina's more-than-average intuition come into play.*
*(There's some foundation to her stand-ins in the Nosferatu films having blatant psychic ability.)

nosferatu 1922 thoughts:
a lot more dracula than I expected, at least in the first half. I knew it was an adaptation but for some reason I expected it to be a mainly vibes based adaptation, but no, there were several recognizable book scenes.
also several recognizable elements that coppola nicked lol, like the vampire seeing the cameo and getting obsessed, and the montage cutting between a sleepwalking woman and the asylum as the ship arrives.
it's interesting how explicit it is that orlock fed on hutter in his sleep given that the book is quite vague on that front and a lot of other adaptations don't go for it
if I'm not mistaken I feel like orlock arriving and causing a "plague" is a bit of carmilla influence
I kind of like that ellen actively chooses to sacrifice herself to end the plague, I believe it's the only moment where anyone tries to take any real action against the count and I'm glad it went to the mina analogue character

Number 24: Dragulas the Vampiric Dragon
Happy New Year! What better way to start than with this year's number! (Kinda. Sorta. You get it.)
This dragon is so fucking cool but also? But also? Kind of ridiculous looking. The clearly obvious reason for that is the straight up blonde hair it has. Hair on a dragon will always look absolutely ridiculous to me, but what really takes the cake here is the obvious intention for it to invoke Alucard vibes from this, well, giant vampire dragon. You could genuinely not convince me that there was any other intention with the hair. Anyways, they pulled off the vampire look extremely well with this guy. Despite all the hair, I really love this guy's kinda nosferatu/bat skull looking head/face area. Colors are on point across the board, but looking at the giant red moon in the background for too long makes it look more like a giant demonic portal or something of the sort.
Rating: 10/10, Year of the Dragon (Vampire)

side a: eddie munson
side a
side b side b: steve harrington
explanation post
just going to go straight to my very very stream of consciousness commentary about each song but i want to clarify that i'm an eddie munson is dirty and gross truther and also i hate that rat man (endearing). so yes it might play into some of my thoughts
some songs are kind of vibe-y and you can tell when my explanations start getting contrived and bad but bear with me. i DO have some specific keystone songs idc KEYSTONE i love the word ok anyway
“I” Black Sabbath; eddie munson you are a LOSER with OPINIONS we get it. like yes you are so persecuted by everyone sure you’re going to prove us all wrong
“Heaven and Hell” Black Sabbath; tbh added to match with heaven/hell in the other playlist, but somehow it’s kind of giving munson doctrine to me. literally googled and supposedly it’s about like band kids (??) but i think just like “the world is full of kings and queens/who blind your eyes and steal your dreams” i can literally hear eddie munson quoting it
“Fade to Black” Metallica; UGH why are there so many long periods of silence at the beginning and end of these songs. but just adding to the eddie munson i’m so outcast bad boy drug dealer thing and like. had to have metallica
“I Don’t Wanna Be Me” Type O Negative; idk if anyone can tell that i think eddie is a big dramatic loser who thinks he’s the main character (endearing?) like I AM RIGHT…
“skins” The Haunting; okay this song is saur…. like normal people scare me i’m such a freak coded
“Nosferatu” Blue Oyster Cult; a nod to Eddie Munson being a BIG LOSER NERD. ugh whatever honestly parallels a lot of kas theory fic imo, like innocent maiden steve offering his blood to vampire eddie … why have i read it several times over. in my head, this is like. eddie munson having a dirty dirty loser fantasy about king steve
“Teenage Dirtbag” Wheatus; need I say more……….
“The Sun Always Shines on T.V.” a-ha; yeah… YEAH. it’s a steve song on here. i like tried to do this thing where on each playlist there are keystone songs and this is one of them. like, the song that’s in the other’s genre is the moment they fall in love even if they don’t realize it yet. but re: the song like it’s so eddie having this realization that when he was picturing king steve, he only saw him through snapshots and now that he’s live and an actual tangible human it’s different. like  LIKE
“18” Anarbor; tbh i am trying so hard to add some of these songs bc they are so quintessential to me and my connection of music to fandom, BUT IDK…. ITS HARD…. but yeah it’s very steve harrington would never really want to be with me, i’m such a bad boy. okay….
“Poison” Alice Cooper; eddie munson ur horny . eddie munson we’re sworn enemies like ur a jock and i’m a nerd and like could i light my cigarette with ur cock please please
“Falling In Love” Scorpions; “falling in love, it happens to me every day” okay eddie munson i did NOT see u doodling hearts around steve’s name in the fourth grade
“Around the Fur” Deftones; i do not know why but for some reason feeling like steve still hanging around his old crowd, and eddie getting all weird about it. IDK !! does it not just feel so eddie munson
“Closet” Fleshwater; an interlude-y song here kind of an angsty moment for eddie
“I Was Made For Loving You” KISS; SECOND KEYSTONE SONG…. this song signals the first time they sleep together. i am so sorry eddie munson but this music actually DOES give me migraines but i tried very hard
“Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” Deftones; eddie’s dreams about leaving hawkins and becoming famous. just in general his wishes to be somewhere he’s wanted and where he belongs. idk i feel like it’s eddie talking about all of these grand plans for his future and turning to steve and being like “and what about you?” and steve doesn’t have an answer.
“Covet” Basement; “you are everything/my most demanding dream” like like like eddie munson loving and hating that he’s in love with steve harrington who is hawkins to the bone and seems determined to die there.
“Ghosts” Scarlet House; in my head this is eddie munson angsting after seeing steve hanging around nancy wheeler or robin buckley depending on when exactly we’re setting this. but it’s very woe is me i’m lost without you. idk it could literally even just be they fought and steve is at the grocery store chilling and eddie munson is literally frothing at the mouth sobbing in his van
“Saturnine Saturnalia” VV; “there is no end to the hurting/i love you” saturnalia was a roman festival where they indulged in mischief and partying and whatnot. feeling like at this point, even if it’s fake, even if it ends up hurting me, i’ll take whatever i can get kind of feeling. maybe it’s like realizing he won’t be free of hawkins unless he lets go of steve or thinking that he’s just a stop on the way to a white picket fence. and i think that maybe this is the moment when eddie begins to realize how deeply he feels for steve.
“Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” Deftones; PLEASE LET THE MAN GET WHAT HE WANTS !!! FOR ONCE !!! he is out here every single day dealing drugs PLEASE give him a sexy passenger princess to come with him on deals
“Black Butterflies and Deja Vu” The Maine; ik it’s a jump scare but KEYSTONE SONG…. the moment when they admit they’ve fallen in love. this is their aha moment. their AHA! moment not a-ha… but yeah…. eddie munson finally being like wait i’m in love with steve harrington and idk for how long but i’m in trouble
the future holds IDK ... just this part took me this long so PLEASE spare me i literally wrote this out on my notes app

Back in high school, I was one of the two (2!) students who was in an extended, extra class for English Literature, in which I wrote feverishly about Bram Stoker’s Dracula, as well as a general overview of vampire lore, other vampire fiction, and various movie adaptations of the Dracula vibe (like Nosferatu, Rice’s extended universe, and Coppola’s cinematic take). The undead monster that wanted to kill us all gradually became a figure of pity and sympathy, the idea of the Monstrous Other being looked at in the lenses of ‘hey, I’m not like everyone else, I’m getting treated like shit by my society’. The vampire in fiction gradually just became this lil guy, just another kind of person that didn’t quite fit in to ‘normal society’. They stopped going after the helpless and weak, and started drinking at blood banks.
But now, here we are in an era of power-hungry tyrants, of warlords who cannot be touched by law or justice, of those in power who see the world - and everyone in it - as theirs to control and despoil, and yeah, here we are walking side by side with John and Mina and all the gang because we have seen that there are some real fucking monsters out there and someone has to fucking do something before they fucking kill us all.

recommend some horror?
aha!! i am glad you asked (no really, i am, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be loud about my favourite genre). here is a non-exhaustive list of some of my personal favourites:
books
-the ballad of black tom by victor lavalle (retelling of lovecraft's "the horror at red hook" by a black author, i could talk about this one for hours suffice to say it's Very Good)
-pet semetary by stephen king (i have a love/hate relationship with mr king but i think this is one of his better books)
-the haunting of hill house by shirley jackson (actually, just about anything by shirley jackson, my personal favourite book by her is "we have always lived in the castle")
-beloved by toni morrison (it's not exactly horror, but i have to put it here anyway because it's too good not to)
-things we say in the dark by kirsty logan
-tell me i’m worthless by alison rumfitt
-house of leaves by mark z. danielewski (i detest this book. yes it's still one of my top favourites and no i will not be taking questions at this time.)
-my heart is a chainsaw by stephen graham jones
-literally anything by robert aickman
movies
-pan’s labyrinth (historical fantasy-horror, visually stunning, one of my favourite movies of all time)
-lake mungo (australian found footage horror about ghosts and grief)
-the texas chain saw massacre (not as gory as the title might suggest)
-the wicker man (the original version, unless you’re in the mood to see nicolas cage at his nicolas cagiest)
-jacob’s ladder (beautiful, eerie, hallucinogenic, you will not know what’s going on for most of it and that’s honestly kind of the point)
-carrie (the sissy spacek version NOT the one with chloe moretz)
-the ritual (it's not a perfect movie but the creature design is WONDERFUL)
-alien (grr! i'm gonna getcha! i'm the alien! and so on)
-nosferatu (both versions are excellent, but i am particularly partial to the 1979 one with klaus kinski as the vampire)
-whistle and i’ll come to you (unsettling short film based on an m. r. james story)
-hereditary (this one's best if you go in blind, but i realise that’s probably difficult since a lot of it has been memed to hell and back)
-the thing (sci-fi thriller/body horror movie set on an isolated arctic research base)
-don't look now (based on a daphne du maurier short story; light on the horror but heavy on the uncanny)
-cabin in the woods (comedy-horror) okay this one is kind of a guilty pleasure for me but it does have some clever moments and it’s genuinely very fun to watch
-silent hill 2006 (another guilty pleasure, it is very much not a good movie but also i've seen it like 7 times, so.)
-ginger snaps (the close relationship between a pair of misfit sisters is tested when one of them starts going through puberty, and also incidentally becomes a werewolf. similar vibes to jennifer's body although i personally prefer this one)
-penda’s fen (startlingly ahead of its time – it’s basically a coming-of-age story about a gay teenager in rural england with a tasty slice of religious/folk horror)
-crimson peak (love letter to the "gothic melodrama" genre)
-us (i personally preferred it to get out, but they’re both amazing; i haven’t seen NOPE yet but i hope to soon!)
tv shows
-castlevania (based on the video game, vampires + religious horror, gorgeously animated, unexpectedly funny)
-the terror (true-ish story of a doomed voyage to the north-west passage) (the demon bear may or may not be historically factual) (we just don't know)
-twin peaks (idk if it counts as horror but i’m putting it here anyway. it’s not for everyone but it occupies a special place in my heart)
-in the flesh (again, not quite horror, but there are horror elements, and i am putting it here because it’s both a pleasingly original take on the zombie-apocalypse genre and a beautiful queer love story. it got cancelled halfway through its run and i will never stop being salty about it.)
-the enfield haunting (three-part tv drama) (much better than the james wan movie) (not that that’s hard)
podcasts
-the magnus archives (do not ask me about this show unless you're prepared to hear me yell about it for Ever and Ever and Ever)
-alice isn't dead (lesbian trucker searches for her missing wife amidst various spooky happenings)
-a scottish podcast (washed-up radio DJ decides to become a phony paranormal investigator to make some extra cash, but his scheme goes awry when he stumbles on a genuine paranormal event)
-i am in eskew (man attempts to leave city, is unsuccessful)
message me if you want trigger warnings or a more detailed description for any of these!

RUNNING UP THAT HILL: A VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE BLOODLINES FICLET
WORDS: 1.9K FANDOM(S): Vampire The Masquerade WARNINGS: Mentions and descriptions of murder, transphobia, violence, and injury.
Another spur of the moment writing, because the scene with the taxi driver after LaCroix calls a hunt on the player character has such good dialog. This centers around my Toreador character, Brienne Isadora Eranthe, a transfem union lawyer who was Embraced into the Masquerade after, what was intended to be, a simple night out.
Please no spoilers about the end of the game, either! I'm newer to the game, and I've gotten to the part where you do find out Nines is alive, and you're sent to confront Ming Xiao. I just... had to write this ficlet out fjdaslkjfkslfjs. Character development and whatnot.
This isn't proofread or anything, either. Just vibes <3
Crimson blossoms bled through stained satin, sallow hands trembling briefly before stilling. Pearly eyes focused on the wound that lengthy fingers caressed, seemingly staring past the opening and through the well-coated flesh and muscle. Its owner, an older woman, was numbed to the sensation; numbed to the subtle vibrations of the taxi as its driver simply pulled away before the ravenous crowd could find themselves broken through. Concealed eyes scanned her visage in the rear-view mirror.
"Where to?"
She spared a glance. "Get me the hell out of Santa Monica… hell, just get me out of town. I just… I need to get out of town."
Surely enough, all of the chaos vanished as the pair found themselves upon the highways. The bleeding had stopped now, leaving behind a gnarly mess on a once gorgeous ensemble. Brienne finally exhaled as the towering skyscrapers became minuscule, now tired eyes scanning the horizon for any danger. There was none—none that was apparent, anyway. But that's how it was, wasn't it? None of this was apparent to her. Not being Embraced. Not facing execution. Not pushing herself to her body's extremes in hopes that someone—anyone—might take notice that she is a fish out of water and needs help. Not being captured by hunters and subjected to experimentation so pervasive in its nature that she told nobody of it. Nobody except the kindly Nosferatu man she'd helped break out; who'd experienced it with her. No… None of this was apparent that night she and her dearest friends had stepped into that club. The worst case scenario for someone like her was, usually, a one-time offense. Something she could either move on from, or never wake up from. But this?
This was a new sort of hell. One that didn't have statistics or conversations. One that, truly, had made her lose everything.
Shoulders slumped as she eased into the backseat of the taxi, lashes fluttering as she blinked back the tears that threatened to spill. Yet even still, she couldn't help the harsh laugh that'd escaped her.
"What a fucking night." Her tone was bitter. Cold and distant, just as the bustling Hollywood streets now felt all those miles away.
The driver kept his focus on the road. Spared only the briefest of glances before speaking.
"The night has not been kind to you?"
Unlike her voice, his held a warmth despite its distance. Like this was routine. Perhaps it was. And the thought was just humorous enough to steel the urge she'd felt to show her fangs and snarl with a venomous sarcasm. Instead, Brienne simply rolled her eyes and looked out the window. Watched the stars glimmer amidst the midnight sky.
"If it weren't for Jack…" She paused. Her breath hitched. A tear fell. Then another. She shook her head and harshly wiped at the falling stains, smearing what remained of her makeup onto the back of her bloodied hand. "Say, you know anything about Jack?"
A steady hum.
"I only recently made the acquaintance of Mister Jack. He intrigues me very much. There are so few like him these nights, I think. But then, I only know what I hear from others about the Kindred of this city. It sounds as if there are many who seek to sway the children of Caine to their side… many who believe they shape the destiny of the blood. You work for Prince LaCroix, don't you?"
A curious glance, which quickly returned to the road ahead as a large truck merged into the lane. The taxi driver slowed, allowing them access. Giving Brienne more time to think the question over, even if she didn't feel she needed it. She scoffed.
"I work for no one." Her voice wavered, then forced itself to steady as she scowled at the passing landscape. "I'm out of this city. Good riddance, LA."
"You could run…" Another glimpse. The subtle softening of his tone. "but do you really think you could escape your reputation? I know little about you except the rumors that you've killed the Anarch leader and betrayed your own kind."
Ire. A nasty look now directed to the driver's reflection in the mirror. The snarl of a caged animal.
"It's not true! I didn't kill Nines!" Even raised, the fledgling's voice was unsteady; strained, much like her form. She winced as she adjusted her posture.
"You have been accused." Punctually stated. "If you were to run, this reputation would travel with you until your final night. Your only recourse is to clear this charge… or to smite the conspirators working against your good name."
Another sigh, accompanied by the deflating of the woman's composure. Her head hung, eyes returning to the grisly sight sat upon her lap. In the subtle glow of the streetlights, she could see the fire. Feel the warmth of the ash and flames overtaking the mountain station as her heart raced. Muscles grew taut and she began to tremble again, her fist clenching in a weak attempt to push down the rising tension. It broke when she saw his face again—saw the fear in Nines' face as he was tackled down by a werewolf and flung over the cliff face. The almost apologetic glaze in his eyes as he'd realized he wouldn't be able to protect her now, like he had those months ago when her newly awakened form sat bound before all to see; as he'd realized he failed her. Crimson blossoms moistened as the tears finally fell.
"If the Anarchs knew what really happened…" She looked to the mirror again. "tak me to the Anarchs."
"The Anarchs… a curious experiment." Brienne winced at the usage of the word. "But they have lost many battles and more leaders—their rebellion has already failed in the eyes of many. Do you feel their notions of freedom have any real possibility?"
A genuine question. One that only brought about more twangs of guilt within the Toreador's conscience. It wasn't until too recently that she'd realized how scummy Prince LaCroix was. How he'd not cared whether she lived or died, long as he'd gotten his way. Yet even after all of the work she'd done for him… The Anarchs took her in. They were willing to look past her testimonies because a mere fledgling, all too unfamiliar with the intricate and oppressive politics of the world she now found herself in. Or perhaps, deep down, someone amongst their ranks had realized she had the potential to be the bearer of change. Whatever the reason, they believed in her, even if she struggled—even now—to believe in them.
But that was no more. It couldn't be…
"As long as a few believe, it'll remain a possibility." A lesson she'd learned all those years ago, as she came into herself. As she broke free from her own oppressive mindset, and allowed herself to flourish into the beautiful woman she was today.
A subtle nod.
"If the Anarchs manged to recapture this city, it would not be long before someone challenged them for it. Conflict is always an eventuality in their life. Could you spend an eternity this way?"
As if she hasn't already. 43 years of existence, with nearly 20 of those being as she was now. It was no easy thing to announce herself as a trans woman to the world. Not then, and certainly not now. She knew she could handle the fight for what was right; that wasn't the part that scared her. It was the unfamiliarity. The new territory of, quite literally, facing an eternity. Unless she were to find an unfortunately early demise at the hands of those she'd wronged thus far.
"It may not be the best choice, but it's the best choice I have."
"The Anarch spirit exists within the blood of many." He began, seeming to catch the lingering hesitation. "Few, though, are willing to listen to it. Perhaps, if a few more did, they would not have lost so much."
"I shouldn't abandon them." I never should have, is what she'd like to say. But now was not the time to linger on her mistakes. Lord knows she'd made enough of them. Even still… "But with Nines gone… I think it might be over."
A calloused hand briefly left the wheel, thicker fingers finding the volume control and allowing the music to fade. Smoothly as it'd left, it returned to its position. 2 o'clock.
"The Anarchs have lost less than is thought. I hear there is one left who may be able to revitalize the movement. Maybe, though, it is just a rumor." There was a hint of something; a subtle emphasis blanketing his disregard of the idea as rumor.
He didn't believe it, but he wasn't one to push the actions of another to his will. It was merely the carrot on the stick. The fuel needed for any potential flames to ignite. All he had to do was await her reaction; to drive the lengthy stretch of highway in hopes the loop they'd found themselves in was not obvious.
And it worked.
A flash of flame ignited in the fledgling's silver eyes, shoulders squaring as she'd finally brought herself to sit up proper. The pain was dulled now, enough to ignore as she made eye contact with the driver.
"Really? I'd really like to meet this person." Her voice was proper steady now. She'd found it again. The driver's lips twitched, the ghost of a smile threatening to fall upon his chapped lips.
"I know where you might find them. But," his eyes met hers, "you would have to be ready to commit to the Anarchs' fight for this city." They left, returning to the road. "I could just as easily take you downtown to see LaCroix."
It was a weighty responsibility. One that, frankly, Brienne felt unprepared to carry. After failing them so many times, and being tossed to the wolves by Prince LaCroix, the only thing that was clear to her was, "… I don't know what to do."
A sigh from him, this time. The careful consideration of the driver's words.
"Your sympathies seem to lie with the Anarchs." A calloused hand briefly left the wheel, thicker fingers finding the volume control and allowing the music to rise again. Smoothly as it'd left, it returned to its position. 2 o'clock. "The Anarchs' passion may be their greatest strength or their Achilles' heel, but imagine if they did hold on to the Free State. It could inspire others to come, and together, construct a new Enoch."
A slow nod from her, this time. The acknowledgment that, maybe, things could change. That she could do for them what they'd done for her. That she could finally repay the favor.
"Yeah. The Anarchs need me. Take me to Hollywood."
"If you share the Anarchs' passion and would share the burden of such a fire, we will go meet the last person capable of keeping them together."
A smile graced the fledgling's lips. "If they're anything like Nines, things will be free—truly free—by sun up. Let's go."
"If that is your decision."
Silence befell the duo once more, but it was no longer daunting. It was… liberating. A breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of the city below them. And, damned be the consequences, others would be able to feel such a relief by the time the sun rose and they settled into slumber. Brienne would make sure of that.

(obligatory forgive me if you did post about it and I just missed it!) What were your and Temerice's thoughts on the whole Ocean House Hotel quest? Did the elevator get you? :D
I dunno, that place just left the biggest impression on me on my first playthrough so I've been CURIOUS
OK SO FIRST OF ALL... I loved that damn quest. Because its the first moment where the game really really GOT me and made me realize how fucking scary it can be (King's way house and the nosferatu warrens being the other 2 maps that made me shit myself). LIKE I DID NOT EXPECT THE OCEAN HOUSE HOTEL TO ACTUALLY SCARE ME.
in fact i died to that fucking elevator the very first time. Where i was left with my mouth open in shock for a few seconds before reloading. Grout's mansion was a similar vibe for sure but not as genuinely scary
Temerice also did NOT expect a legit haunted house errand quest the moment she stepped in this hotel. In some instances she would've gone full yowling scream of terror I think. Especially in the kitchen when Everything was being thrown at her, or in the basement with the laundry room, etc
She's not per se a scaredy cat but she can get surprised and scared too, and the real scary moments got her as well (also while kind of cliché, the story behind the hotel haunting also made her feel shocked upon reading the diary entries).
Needless to say she was very fucking glad to get out of the hotel once all was done, because it was a genuinely unsettling environment!!! Shes like nope I am NOT getting in there again thanks!!

Anne Rice and her lawyers certainly left a mark on fanfiction history, lol. In elementary school, after watching Hellsing, I entered a vampire phase where I consumed any media with vampire stories I came across (Anne Rice, Vampire Hunter D, Blood+, the classics like Dracula and Carmilla, Nosferatu, and even Twilight). This led to my appreciation for authors and books that include a gloomy atmosphere and/or supernatural or mystical elements, such as the works of the Brönte sisters, Poe, Frankenstein, and Marion Zimmer Bradley. Generally, I enjoy flowery language and drama, and if the main character is miserable throughout the story, I'll probably like it (hello, Raskolnikov). I also dig multi-generational stories (like One Hundred Years of Solitude, Isabel Allende’s The House of Spirits, and The Maias by the Portuguese author Eca de Queiroz). From more contemporary authors, I tend to read popular book series (like The Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, Game of Thrones, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). There's nothing I've read that I find boring or dislike for any reason today, and similar kinds of books continue to catch my attention, so I'd say my tastes have remained consistent.
I think it's mostly works from Romanticism that influence and inspire me the most, but there's one author – Clarice Lispector – whose originality and unique prose blows me away. I believe Penguin has published her books translated into English (originally written in Portuguese), and she's one of my favorite authors. Her stories often have simple premises, but her strange and unique perspective on mundane things makes everything she writes feel different. I don't know of any other author that can get into a character's stream of thoughts quite like her. Her style is not for everyone – I remember a few of her books were recomended reading at my school and some of my friends complaining about not really liking it, fiding it sometimes nonsensical.
Sometimes I pick books based on random quotes I come across on social media, which prompts me to look them up, read reviews, and, honestly, just by liking the cover and title (usually for when I'm just browsing in some bookstore .
Regarding festivals, I'm considering participating in Black Brothers Fest or Padfoot Fest, if I manage to finish anything on time. I have several drafts on my laptop that I could work on, but I'll only sign up once I'm ready to post (although nothing motivates me more than a looming deadline). Looking forward to seeing you at Padfoot Fest!
Hold. Up.
There's a Black Brothers Fest?
.....
Just drop the pretense and call it Tenrousei-Kuroi fest lolol
Also Allende's for real! We did house of the Spirits in school, both the Spanish and the English versions as an exercise in studying the unique challenges of translating novels--the trickiness of carrying over tone and vibe without sacrificing meaning.
Do you read any Paulo Coelho? I have a few of his knocking around, as well. He seems to be the go-to author when my brother-in-law is looking for a Christmas gift for me >.<

OK I'm pretty sure this has already been asked, but I haven't read far enough into the book to see if it's been explained, so I hope you don't mind the ask!
Are there specific clans of vampires in VTM? Or different breeds?
*slowly spins around so you can see the absolutely MANIACAL, UNHINGED grin on my face*
OHHHHHH BABY, HERE WE FUCKIN GOOOOOOOO
So, Vampire: The Masquerade is a ttrpg system first released in the 90s about vampires, part of a larger overworld called The World of Darkness, or just commonly called the 'WoD' - this, as well as vampires, includes werewolves, changeleings (faeries), Mages (magic people), demons, as well as other creatures, all of which have their own games under this system, but the one that I play (and the only one I'm interested in playing tbh bc the it's the oldest, most popular and best developed of the games) us Vampire: The Masquerade.
-
SO Thw World of Darkness is a grittier, slightly more grim-dark version of our reality. People are a bit less kinder, the shadows are a bit darker. And in those shadows, lurk vampires.
Now, in the official canon lore of the WoD, vampires are all descended from Caine - yes, that Caine. The Bible dude. As punishment for his transgression again God, God cursed him to shun the sun and forever walk the Earth. Being lonely, Caine sired three 'childer', three vampires, who then also sired more, who became the 13 Antedeluvians ('those who survived the flood') and THOSE 13 became the founders of the 13 Clans of Vampire.
The Masquerade: The one rule almost all vampires everywhere follow. The Masquerade is the deception of vampire existence to humankind, and maintaining it is paramount to everything you do AS a vampire. Humans must never, ever, ever know.
Each Clan has their own unique powers, and like. Vibe to them. (As they are the types of vampire you can choose to play in your games.)
When you are Embraced (turned into a vampire), you become the Clan you were Embrace by, ie, a Nosferatu will make another Nosferatu, a Gangrel a Gangrel. So yes, it IS a breed of vampire.
The Clans are as follows (to the best of my description lol):
Ventrue: The powerful lords of vampires, bluebloods, they desire power and to dominate others. They're behind CEOs and polititians, controlling a lot of the vampire political landscape. Their Thing is that they can only drink specific kinds of blood, a blood restriction, say, only the blood of blue eyed men, or something. you can choose what that restriction is with your character. (also this is Berd's least favorite, and I'll go into detail why further down)
Toreador: The Clan of the Rose, ie, the pretty ones. Toreador are the cultural influencers of the vampire world, and while not exclusive to, they ARE incredibly dug into the arts. Typically associated with fashion as they want to keep up with and make the latest trends in the world. Their powers are...literally being so fucking pretty. A siren-like ability, which goes just as much for the men, too.
Brujah: The Clan of the rebels! The Brujah are a clan of rabble-rouses who hate the system and want to see the world into a utopia of humans and vampires, but getting there is gonna be a chore. The Brujah's deal is that they're punks, and that means supernatural anger to go with it. They rage. Hard.
Malkavian: The Clan of the Moon, they get literal visions and whispers of the Beyond, information from outside of what any person can pick up on the street. They're literally a clan of mad oracles, driven to their derangement by the vampiric blood. A Malk's particular way of receiving this information can range from perceiving the reporter on tv telling them so, to getting flashes of visions from reading a newspaper.
Gangrel: A Clan where you kinda wanted to play a werewolf, but also a vampire. Gangrel lean into the beastial side of vampire lore, being able to best control and even transform into animals. I don't have a lot to say about Gangrel, they're a pretty straightforward clan as far as things go.
Nosferatu: The Clan of the Hidden. As the name implies, the curse of vampirism affects them by twisting their bodies into hideous forms they cannot undo or reverse with any kind of magic. Named so bc a lot of them end up looking like Max Schreck's Count Orloc. Most Nosferatu cannot participate in the wider world because of their looks endangering vampirekind, so they form large networks below cities, occupying old sewer and tram systems, forming 'Warrens'. Their Thing is that they possess very powerful invisibility powers, and have set up large subinternet networks, making them master spies and information farmers. The Nosferatu know everything about everything...as long a you're willing to trade a secret for a secret. (This is my favorite clan, if you can't tell :>)
Tremere: Nobody likes Tremere. Ok, that's not true, bad me. But they are...standouts in the vampire world (ask me about their lore, it's...wild). Tremere are blood mages, using Thaumaturgy (blood magic) to do dark rituals and keep their magic knowledge in the clan. They're essentially your 'casting class' in the game.
Ok, so, that's not even half of them, as you can count, but this is getting long, and these are all the 'major' clans that most people tend to play. I will be passing off this post to @berd-alert to tell you about the other smaller but JUST as interesting clans, but here is also a short overview of the world the WoD vampires exist in:
The clans all belong to larger political 'factions'. (Again, ask me more about the lore if you want a more in-depth explantion). These factions are based on ideologies of how vampires should interact with the human world
The Camarilla: what's considered 'mainstream' vampire, or 'Kindred' society. Every city will have an Elysium, where the Prince (can be a person of any gender, that's just the title) will preside over their court, being whatever vampires claim allegence with the Camarilla in that particular city, or, 'domain.' The Cam rule their worlds with very firm rules about interacting with humans, or 'kine'. You're expected to follow these rules and receive protection and order....or face severe and swift consequences should you put a toe out of line and someone hears about it.
The Anarchs: pretty much what it says on the box. The Anarchs oppose the Camarilla and their deadly rules, the only one they want to follow being 'don't break the Masquerade'. Full of the young, the boisterous, the new, hot blood eager to destroy the old system and build something new.
The Sabbat: these vampires say hang the rules all together, fuck the Masquerade, humans are prey or playthings, and vampires being stronger and immortal should rule the world. pretty much, if you want to play a vampire who loves blood and destruction, ie an evil player game (bc those are always fun heheh) this is the faction for you.
WOOF, OK, I THINK THAT'S ABOUT IT. Again, if you have specific questions, just ask me or Berd bc they're just as deep into this as I am, and knows lots of cool, intricate lore. But that's about it for right now! I highly reccomed looking up some youtube videos about this, as there is a TON of supplementary and educational videos out there for it! And also a video game, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, which is from 2004 and an INCREDIBLE cult-classic, to match the Lost Boys in terms of iconic vampire media.
Love you Cherry!!!

Repugnant with a big titty goth gf
Mary Goore
Fuck yeah!
While they're much more into metal now, Mary is still a goth at heart. And a bit of a punk. They're not one for labels.
Still, they love it.
Seeing you made them long back for when they were a twelve year old mall goth, just sitting in front of a Hot Topic and hissing at people.
They're a bit disappointed if you don't do that, but hey, there's no judging here.
They steal your jewelry. You only notice it when you see them wear it. Of course, they'll insist it's just sharing!
They bite your tits. Whenever your boobs are out, they will walk over just to bite them.
Very fond of shoving their face into your chest, too.
They just like biting the most. It's their love language,
DD Sars (fwb, not s/o)
He likes a few goth bands. His favorite is Scary Bitches.
You two vibe to the music together, just chilling.
He's gonna be a little shit (lovingly) and play the most random, clearly not goth music and ask you if it's goth. You think it's an innocent question at first.
It's not, he just likes annoying you with it, so he'll do it all the time.
He likes the fashion. Might steal your shit. Unlike with Mary, you most likely won't realize it was him. He's sneaky.
He will call you names like freak or weirdo, but the moment anyone else says anything, he's taking out his beloved pocket knife, ready to slit throats.
As much as he loves to just groan and bury himself in your tits when he's annoyed with something, he will also threaten you with a diy top surgery when you say something that he might find annoying.
G. Grotesque
Cuddles.
He loves cuddling into your chest!
It's so soft! He loves soft things. He has a whole collection of plushies he cuddles to sleep because he can't fall asleep without hugging something.
And you are just perfect for cuddles!
It doesn't matter what kind of goth you are, trad goth, cyber goth, vampire goth, pastel goth, a baby bat... he's gonna say you're absolutely adorable and love your style.
He's gonna make you jewelry to match your outfits, too!
E. Forcas
He's very chill about the whole thing.
Lets you choose the music while he's driving. He doesn't actively seek out to listen goth music, but he does like it playing as background noise so if it starts playing, he's cool with it.
Buys a few CDs of your favorite bands for you.
Buys any little goth trinkets he finds whenever shopping or on tour.
Gift giving is his love language, in case you haven't noticed.
He likes to hear you talk about your subculture. Remembers everything you tell him.
He's very supportive, though it mostly shows through gestures.
He doesn't really say anything about your chest, since he genuinely doesn't mind.
~

You seem a little testy or aggravated in your last few anon responses. You're usually so upbeat and positive. Especially during all The Crow stuff. Please don't let these weird asks about the pants or the newest pics with A get to you. People wanna feel like they're right about an opinion they can't and have no way to prove as fact. This account is always fun and a little gossipy and so full of positive vibes for Bill. Don't let them take you down 😍 I don't know why these pics are making us all lose our crap rn lol I mean according to the one anon even Mortox "left the chat" 😂
Thanks for your kind words and don't worry I'm not angsty or angry.
I think people got the wrong idea from my first post and thought I was trying to throw shade towards A and B relationship. I wasn't.
I'm glad there's people who gets it.
And I think I'll stop answering cause I'm being redundant 😅 with all my answers.
Again thank you for your kind ask. 😊
Now let's wait for Nosferatu updates , he's in London Nicolas Hault was at the party too ... So something is cooking up !!
