nobody can live this life unscathed. by the time you are in your late 20s, not only have you been through some trauma and are damaged in multiple ways, you've probably lost the light in your eyes and have forgot how to dream. or maybe it's different for you (I hope that is the case). but what I am trying to say is that your issues, your wounds, your sadness would have not scared me away. I am not afraid of broken people, dented people. I think that's inevitable when you're living this life. what I am afraid of is people who are delusional, people who are evasive, and people who are manipulative. that's what I'm afraid of. all my brokenness? I never expected you to fix it. if I'm being honest, I think that's one of my favourite things to do — to work on myself. to heal, to understand, to elevate. so why would I put that on you? did I, however, want you around supporting me? hearing me out? understanding me? of course. so much. and I wanted to do the same for you. because I understand — nobody can go through this life unscathed. I would buy you coffee and you would buy me books and we'd pick flowers together and understand each others triggers and pacifiers. we'd hold hands and laugh and cry and record embarrassingly funny videos of being silly and talking nonsense. we'd soothe each other, we'd make each other smile. don't you see? it was always this simple. why did you have to go ahead and complicate it, then? do you really think any one can go through this life unscathed?

you tell me you don't like poetry. that you prefer a messy text with bad grammar but authentic emotion. and I smile and tell you that my poetry is a lot like that, a list of drunk texts at 2 am I never sent the person I wrote them for. minus the bad grammar. but authentic emotion? but words that aren't pompous? expression that's human? that's what my poetry is. and now at close to 2 am, I want to send you some texts. authentic emotion. lower caps. lacking punctuation perhaps. but what would I say? I'm not drunk. and I'm not in love. maybe one day you will read my poetry and wonder if in another universe we would know each other better and how wonderfully authentic that would be, how spectacularly human.

the first Looney Tune of the 1941-1942 season is one of the LT shorts i personally have the most opinions and theories and feelings on out of the entire run—a very promising start to a very promising season!

perhaps best known for its own remake, 1948’s Back Alley Oproar starring Sylvester and Elmer Fudd, Notes to You is a hidden gem of musical timing, behavioral comedy, empathetic portrayal of characters, immersive storytelling, dubious directing to keep the audience guessing, and perhaps the bearer of the darkest ending to any Looney Tune. all high praise for such a seemingly innocuous short about Porky’s plans to get a good’s night sleep being repeatedly violated by a cat with an insatiable itch for music—and heckling.

notes to self: (almost) mid year edition

all this while I kept thinking that if you love yourself only then you shall respect yourself. but it’s the other way around. if there is self respect, then there will be self love. I need to first respect myself, show up for myself, keep my word, maintain my boundaries, be a person I respect. only then I can begin to love myself in a solid way. first comes self respect and then comes self love.

more than one man has told me that the way I see romantic relationships and the way they are in real life have much of a gap. I’m willing to take off my rose tinted glasses and bridge that gap with a real man and a real relationship for all its non dramatic and peaceful moments. it’s not going to be with any of those men though. it will be with a man worthy of such an experience with me as I shall be worthy of such an experience with him.

other people looking out for me is useless if I don’t look out for myself. and I have to stop expecting others to look out for me. especially those I am just getting to know. it might come from childhood trauma and whatnot and a subconscious need to prove that I’m right and can actually trust no one — but I want to stop that now. I only want people I can trust and rely on in my life from here on now and for that I first have to trust myself to look out for myself and to only engage with people with a good heart and beautiful mind and sincere intentions.

I do think I expect an inherent understanding and acceptance of who I am and how I see things from the other person right from the beginning. but I have to allow people time and I have to allow them to not have the ideal reaction right at first. and if they make an honest mistake, that’s alright. I’m forgiving and understanding. even Colin Bridgerton took a while to understand and accept Penelope as Lady Whistledown so I mean…

your boundaries should come with a plan of action. if and when someone tries to cross them, you should change your behaviour/actions instead of yet again communicating your boundary to them. why? because it’s your boundary, not theirs. you have to ensure it’s kept and if it’s not then you need to know what to do next and then actually do it — even if it’s disengaging with that person.

it’s been a while since you bought yourself flowers. do that soon, okay?
