No but like every time I think about Splinter and what he had to go through just to keep the boys alive, my heart hurts for him so badly. Is he perfect? No not at all, but none of them are and by god does he love his sons.
The fact that all of them are alive, and grew to thrive despite the circumstances surrounding them is a testament of how much Splinter loves his boys. He raised four babies following the most traumatic time of his life, all alone with nothing but the sewers to house them (to hide them.) I feel like he’s not given the credit he deserves for all he’s done.
And I get that it’s easy to hold up his flaws and faults when it comes to parenting, I myself like looking into them because flawed characters are super interesting and said flaws make them more realistic and engaging, but he tries, and again, so many others would have given up on the boys or failed along the way but Splinter didn’t.
He’s their father, for all his faults he did his damndest to make sure they survived.

ONE: ok guys here’s an arc about mob, in his growth as a person, being confronted with an ideology he’s unfamiliar with, and he has to learn from it but also understand why it’s unhealthy and bad to properly grow from it and choose kindness in the end, albeit in a more nuanced way than before, and this will make mob more able to confront later problems in the season that can’t be solved with mere kindness and require a deep understanding of loneliness and solitude, something he hasn’t had much room to speak on until now. To express mob being shown this villain’s ideology we have a sequence where we see how mogami views the world and by extension how he sees mob, by putting mob in the kind of sad fucked up world he thinks exists, but mob will overcome it with the knowledge that in the real world he has people he cares about and that even the people who make the world bad sometimes can change and nobody is a static evil and kindness and courage when you’re going through hardship goes a long way. despite the darkness this is ultimately a very uplifting experience for him and a show that life is always more than its darkest moments, and also how picking yourself up instead of wallowing in your own suffering and trauma is hard but a very courageous act and what makes mob stronger than mogami
mp100 fans with tunnel vision: Oh so mob was tortured for six months and is sad? He’s literally so sad and traumatized and nobody is talking about this?

The primordial sea is going to have NOTHING on the flood that's gonna hit fontaine from Neuvi's crying once Furina dies now that she's mortal tbh
And he won't be the only one crying but honestly? This poor girl has been putting on a constant act for almost 500 years, saw generation after generation come and go, and outlived everyone she could have grown close to except for him - and he was born a long-lived species, she's ever only been human. He loves her greatly and he'll feel her absence every moment once she's gone, but as much as I'd like to say he'll find some way to make her immortal (it's not like he has to play by Celestia's rules, or anyone's) I don't think he'd want to deprive her of her well-earned rest.
So I imagine once that day comes, the rains will be heavy and the sky won't clear for a long time indeed.

tua3 was so tough. within the year it after it came out -- june 22 2022 - june 22 2023 -- just 2,679 works under the fandom tag were updated on AO3. that may seem like a decent chunk, but compare this to the relatively even distribution between july 31 2020 - july 21 2021 (the year after season 2 came out), where 5,326 were updated, and february 15, 2019 - february 15, 2020 (the year after season one), where there were 5,637. tua used to have one of the most vibrant, collaborative, active fandoms i've ever had the pleasure to be in, and the sheer mediocrity of season 3 seemed to just take a wrecking ball to that community pretty much overnight. literally cut its fanfiction output in half. still makes me sad.

its like. it seems a little silly to me when people can fully recognize methods of queerbaiting in bbc sherlock or whatever but when it comes to the gacha game space its either like 'wow, i can't believe they didn't realize that they were making this kind of gay!' or 'wow, i can't believe Evil Asian Censorship prevented these characters from being queer!' or like maybe the game was produced by people who made intentional creative decisions aimed towards making people spend money. just like how all mainstream media works. sorry
