Good morning! Thank you for the ask and happy story teller Saturday! Currently, I'm still focused on 'The Beast in the Glass House' until it's ready to submit to agents because I'm afraid I'll lose the momentum if I let myself get focused on a different project, so my brain has been all about Damon and his darling Freya.

I don't like Damon. He's a freak, a weirdo, and a loser, but he's such a compelling bad guy that I can't help but appreciate his twisted brain somewhat.

Freya, we don't get to learn much about who she really is, because Damon takes the info we do learn and twists it into this dream version of Freya.

That didn't really answer your question, did it? lol

2. How has this WIP changed since the “daydream/brainstorm” stage?

i'm going to talk abt erotica now lol

so i've mentioned before that wolf's tooth was initially just, like. i was at c2e2 and i was sitting in on panels and i needed something to do with my hands so i started designing characters for a smut comic feat. werewolves and that those characters were raleigh and kirby. and then i never finished the comic lol but i kept drawing the characters-- raleigh in particular, who's made of such fun shapes and doesn't have kirby's fucked up nose and is just so fun to draw over and over again for eternity.

EXCEPT.... you'll notice that in the drawings from 2019 ( those trad sketches are, like, The First Raleigh And Kirby Drawings, Ever, Drawn At-Con) raleigh Already has his story-reliant neck scars. that's because those were initially a sex thing lmao, BUT because i wasn't going to be finishing that original comic and i was getting more and more attached to the characters (and because i love thrashing my characters), i couldn't just... Not... explain those scars. And Therefore:

(look at how itty bitty the scar on his face is btw... it's just a baby :')...)

so the concept behind this stage in wolf's tooth's narrative is largely the same: raleigh goes to his boyfriend's mother's house with kirby's cousins and the house is surprise-attacked by another pack of werewolves; raleigh is bitten but he doesn't turn into a werewolf (at this point it was just, like, biology; sometimes it doesn't work and we don't really know why-- may revert to this if my balls out draft doesn't mesh in the end) and the gang goes on a roadtrip to get some revenge. However, in this stage the pedersen pack was much more, like... Chill. i'm really into werewolves and i love reading werewolf stories, and i'm really into comics so i had been spending a lot of time reading on tapas, and i realized that there was like a veritable wellspring of indie werewolf prose fiction on tapas. Unfortunately a lot of what i ran into was that, like... essentially-just-omegaverse; crazy-unexamined-power-dynamic; gender-essentialist; one-of-these-characters-is-just-going-to-be-a-woobie-nervous-baby-while-the-other-one-is-a-hotheaded-d-bag; one-of-them-is-16-the-other-is-30; horny-but-in-an-adolescent-way -type deal, and a lot of them had these like heavily abusive hypermasculine misogynist (without any women???????? this is the omegaverse factor bc even the, like, gay omegaverse is like bioessentialist misogyny with extra steps) pack dynamics that were seen as like Genre Standard (and i think it's because the Algorithm was feeding me largely romances + genres tend to eat each-other like that) and the oversaturation of it was really grating on me so my little transgay anarchist ass was like 'my werewolf pack is just going to be one big happy family', so i had essentially just cut the power dynamic factor entirely.

uhhhhh but then i had trouble writing the story, because there was a single conflict and i couldn't make that conflict work in my fluffy little werewolf world-- it just didn't fit the vibe, it didn't make a lot of sense. so i started to add power dynamics back into the story in a way that felt more meaningful and thematic: lovise wants her direct bloodline to maintain control of the pack but kirby doesn't want to be the alpha; the pack is too large for a single alpha to direct, because she can't be everywhere at once, so her subordinates are becoming impatient with the rigid rules she's implemented to try to keep up; individual interpersonal conflicts between wolves in different pods that make the pack less cohesive; external pressure from other smaller packs because the pedersens are just so scary powerful, etc. it's much darker and more stressful a narrative than it was initially, but to my genuine relief it's nowhere even close to those stories that i was trying so hard to push away from lmao

and that's how awtfr went from pwp (porn without plot) to pwp (porn With plot) to handing out trauma like i'm bad santa

Yet, April felt a curdling tension between them - a sourness that he didn't quite understand.  "How long do we wait?" He sat up on the ledge and leaned precariously out. January's face twitched to a brief frown.  "All night if needs must." Ember pulled a slight face at the android's robotic speech. April glanced at him, catching the expression well enough for the redhead to turn his gaze to the ground; and then to January, who had turned his eyes once more to the treetops.

The prince shot Davey a wicked glare, but resided in his feelings of contempt as he paddled to the solid surface. Rejoining the captain and the crew, they brushed their hands over their slick breeches to shed some water weight. Benjamin, who was shivering from the dank cold of the dripping ocean cavern, ran his palms over his forearms to get some heat and friction to his sea-steeped skin.

Chill

A chill swept over their spines as Davey shook his head. “Oooooohh…..I don’t like the sounds of this, m’boy. We better take what we can and get out….”

Hurt

Peter scratched his chin as he contemplated. ‘An engagement ball, huh?’ He schemed through a smarmy smile. ‘That means that they’ll be loaded. And busy with guests….’ Much like his father, Peter was a daredevil at heart. Though it probably was a bad idea, he thought it wouldn’t hurt the royal family if a few priceless heirlooms went missing. What was the harm in a handful of lost trinkets, anyway?

Heal

Benjamin closed his eyes, hanging his head again as he let the pirates haul him away from land once more, accepting his punishment as his heavy heart sank in his chest. The amulet’s glow gently flickered and dimmed, but stayed softly illuminating Benji’s delicate, tired face inside the napsack. Indeed, it would take his heart a long time to heal from this betrayal of trust….for now, he was just thankful for the benevolence of his captors.

Here's a little something from the romantic fantasy series concept that's grabbed me by the proverbial short and curlies.

In Assigned Evil, Chama the fire sorceress finds herself apprenticed to a surprisingly sweet nonbinary lich lord - and drawn to their charming, short, transmasc goth assistant, Pryderi.

Chama curtsied, stumbling towards the door of his office. Master Mathonys darted towards it and opened it for her. This close, she noticed she was a little taller than him, but posture brought their eyes to the same height.

This is from The City is Ours, with Asher and his boyfriend Damian after Asher's secret superhero identity is accidentally revealed.

Damian whispered furiously, "You're very lucky you're a damn good kisser, Asher Bruno Romero-Cruz."

Asher smirked, "Glad it worked."

"You're little distraction won't work for long, I'm still pissed at you."

Asher's expression fell a little as he held his boyfriend in the shadow of the alleyway. "If I don't do this-" He gestured to his suit and the city around him. "-who will? I'm not the only one, there are others and we help each other but... I have these powers, Dam'. I have the ability to help people, and I want to use them to help people." 

He caressed Damian's back and said softly, "I'm going to keep doing this Batman thing, with your approval or not, but... I would like to have your approval and support."

Damian glared at him for a minute, then sighed, letting his head fall back against the wall. "Fine, but you can't die, ok? You can't die on me, Asher, understand? If you die on me, I'll kill you."

Asher bit his lip in an attempt to hold in a laugh. "But... I would already be dead... so how could you-"

"I know it doesn't make sense, just shut up, you get my point!"

Are you named after anyone? Supposedly a childhood friend of my grandmother's, but my parents never actually met her, so I wasn't named AFTER her. It was just the first time my mom ever heard the name and apparently liked it.

When was the last time you cried? Today. I can't even remember the reason; something I was reading about online. I'm a crier, okay?

Do you have kids? Nope.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Yup.

What’s the first thing you notice about people? The way they talk and interact with people around them. It's not really one thing, it's their whole persona.

What’s your eye color? Blue

Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings, always.

Any special talents? I go to a pub quiz almost every week and my team usually wins. When I'm not there, they don't, so I think that makes me the MVP...

Where were you born? Minneapolis.

What are your hobbies? Writing, obviously, even though it's also my job. Paddleboarding, even though I haven't done it in a year. Scuba diving, same. Music, formerly as a singer/pianist/bassist, though not so much nowadays. Yoga. Trivia.

Do you have any pets? Not at the moment. I live a rather transient existence.

What sports do you play/have you played? As a kid, almost all of them, with very little success. As an adult, stand-up paddleboarding, with slightly more success. I can't play team sports. I sometimes watch them, but that's about it.

How tall are you? 5'4"

Favorite subject in school? English or creative writing.

Dream job? Writer. I'm already living the dream!

You work quick and you work quiet. You can barely hear Josselin going through the filing cabinets in the corner, while you dig into her files at the desk. You are breaking so many laws right now. God, how did you even get here? You gave Josselin a second chance that first afternoon. You don’t regret it one bit. You’d do it again and again and again. Your mind starts to flicker a little, starting to jump around in itself, and you squeeze your eyes closed and force yourself to focus. Of course your ADHD meds would start wearing off when you need them most. You slide open the bottom drawer of the desk. The first two just have office supplies, the second also has a pack of cigarettes. This one has folders. You do your best to skim for familiar names. It’d be too obvious you’d been here if you take the whole thing, but one or two pages missing might not– And then your brain has a dolphin thought. It jumps from the folders under your fingers to the bottom of the drawer to a life hack video you saw where someone made a secret kitchen compartment with a piece of wood and a spatula to the pair of scissors that looked a little out of place in the top drawer. You shoot back up. Everything is organized, looks to be in its place. You pull at the scissors. They’re glued to a false bottom.

This is about Wolves Gone Wild!

Aston grit his teeth, not knowing how to handle the fondness Crawford treated him with because he was not fragile. He had spent two years trying to contain all of the anger boiling inside of him and today it threatened to spill in violent urges and shaking fists.There was water boiling on the stove, bubbling, steaming, building up pressure and it was at a tipping point at the edge of the pot. Aston couldn’t turn the heat down. Gone were the days people grieved his father. In the village, it was a unanimous vote that they wore black the first month. The Orphanage’s windows were covered in dark panels out of respect, and his grave was to be decorated with flowers each weekend. As things quieted down though, life moved on as it always had, and Oliver Metcalf was eventually forgotten.  

So it didn’t happen as often anymore, that someone would look at him, and see the ghost of his father in his place. After all, it was a strange thing, being two men at once; one dead, one alive. Every now and then though, he would buckle under the sheer weight of it in his consciousness– it was a sick feeling curdling in the pit of his stomach that Aston couldn’t fathom despite his best efforts. Grief took various forms throughout a lifetime; like a broken mirror that shattered in pieces, each sharp edge reflected a point in the past where Aston had hit rock bottom. 

That first day, all it had taken to ease the fire burning inside of him was a punch. The numb disbelief in the way Kenta stared at him right after was unexpected, and it made pure adrenaline rush through his veins. It was almost salvation. Aston had stayed awake many nights studying the memory–the shift of weight in his legs, the swing, the satisfying crunching noise Kenta’s nose made as it broke on impact when it collided with his fist– hoping it would give him the same thrill it once did; but something had changed.

What once was restlessness turned into a drinking problem. Aston would snatch old bottles of aged wine from the cellar and run away at night. He’d race through the wheat fields for hours until he was panting for air, and his limbs heavy with exhaustion, and once he decided he was lost enough he’d drink himself to oblivion. He’d do anything to help him forget. He preferred the little world in his head anyway.

A couple notes first. My computer had some difficulties and would not work with me on this, so I had to resort to PRINTING OUT five sheets and filling them out by hand. Which was not a problem (aside from wonky lighting and poor readability), but I pray to god no one in this house comes across them. I honestly don't know where I would begin explaining this XD

Also, I'm in the process of commissioning art for the characters of Agent Ace, so I plan to repost this with visual representations once the sketches are complete and I've paid the artist for her hard work. <3

Thanks so much to everyone who has sent me an ask or tagged me in games recently! I am definitely behind but I will get to them soon, I promise! The same thing goes for the lovely writing I have been tagged in—if you see a like from @obviousknife, it’s just me bookmarking from my main!

My mind has been occupied pretty much 24/7 with ToL Ch. 11.

I’m 2.6k in with about a quarter of the chapter left to write. It’s basically one big plot twist, sneaky foreshadowing for Book 2 and the last expositional chapter before the end. I’m going a bit insane trying to keep up with all the little details—I’ve been analyzing each chapter to make sure the major plot twist even makes sense.

In other words, I’m being held hostage by my own writing and I’m not mad about it. See you on the other side, friends.

He hadn’t particularly missed his childhood home. Sporadically, throughout his adult life, he’d found himself in a point of contention between his desires and nostalgia - but these were usually fleeting, amounting to nothing. Nothing quite as physical as the creak of the stairs beneath his feet.

“You never did look much like your mother,” Sam came to a stop at a covered box, a white sheet draped over sharp angles “...whom I assume you’ve come to visit.” There was a terse silence, punctuated not by a sound, but a nod, for it was all Ari could muster. The hesitance must have been clear as his eyes fell on the covered corpse on the table. “Are you sure?”

Milky Way and star!

🌌 Milky Way - What is the character development like for your characters? Do they change a lot or not much at all? I would say, thinking about all four WIPs and what I have in mind for my babies, it varies. Some have bigger development than others, most for the better, few to their worst self with the question if they can ever go back to who they were before.

For example:

Maud from Their Call for Home doesn't change at all, she already is who she needs to be, she went from an adventurer life to be a healer and settled down.

Neil from Moon Daughter was a self-destructive idiots with self-esteem issue who was seen as a scheming bastard by most of the people around him but will be forced to work through his issues and in the end become softer and probably be seen less as a threat.

Keir from Rebellious Souls has basically a negative arc. With all that is thrown at him and the others he will turn the darkest with no regrets of using others, manipulating people to do what he wants for his own profits only and it will be a question of such a sensitive soul as him will be able to come back from this.

Then we have the weird thing that is Sin Eaters where the main characters just start to learn who really are after a certain moment in the story.

Tag Game Time! (Again) lol

Ok, here's a quick and easy one for...Everyone who wants to do it! Tell me the meanings of one of your OC's names, and why you chose them! I'm gonna start with Nathaniel, the love interest of my WIP, The Tengu And The Angel!

Nathaniel means 'gift of God', which I chose because it fits the way that the MC, Kunio, sees him the best. Kunio thinks of Nathaniel as an angel, because he's kind, generous, and patient to a fault. Nathaniel is kind to everyone, even to people he barely knows, and he goes way out of his way to help others, even if they don't deserve his help. His surname, Bythesea, is a rare old English surname believed to have originated in Somerset. Nathaniel was born in Somerset, and abandoned at the age of three. I thought that giving him a rare surname emphasised how alone Nathaniel was growing up, and his feelings of not belonging anywhere, not even among his family, or supposed 'hometown', which he wasn't old enough to remember when he left.
