one of my favorite facts about my characters is that i have a character that legitimately will give people a cat if she doesn't like the person.

why?

the person she hates the most is a shapeshifter who's scared of cats.

if someone looks genuinely worried by holding a cat, she immediately thinks they're the shapeshifter.

7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?

I think forests, or elements that remembers about forests, especially since I imagine that they grew up in the green dragon's zone for a good while. It's also where i believe that Christine first met Glyph so its a really important place in general!

It's a really nice feeling, a bit bittersweet, but mostly nice. I think what would trigger nostalgia the most for them would be the smell of areas they visited before too, like, wow this smell reminds me the rain above the trees , reminds me of one beach i spent some times at, the smell of a new book etc etc

30. Who do they most regret meeting? 

I don't have any oc / npc that I can think that Chris regretted meeting yet but I think they regret meeting with Ella just a little bit because they would prefer to stay in ignorance about what happened with [ redacted for spoilers reasons ] for a little longer.... 😭😭😭😭Poor thang...

35. How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive? 

ABSOLUTELY YESSS, they get excited together with the friends and intensifies the feelings lots of times, even if they don't really understand whats being told, they will try to understand or at least listen and be happy with them.

Chris always tries their best to spread the joy and happiness with others, so they re really supportive about that.

A) Why are you excited about this character?

I think they have many complexities to work...and I love that!!! I like how she is a very energetic and happy character, but dont really know much about themselves and his story and probably resent that a lot. I am excited to discover more about them as well, together with Christine!

It's really fun to see how they interact with the world and some of the pressure they feel about the need to be joyful most of the times but constantly having to challenge that when we put them in situations.

Also, They're such a nerd JDJGJE I enjoy their silly moments with Glyph.

F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?

I feel curiosity and excitement. Its like if I am dealing with a box of mysteries right at my front!! I know them but I am also aware that they have so many other sides that i still need to know. >: ]

When a Character Is Grieving Someone They Never Got to Say Goodbye To

✧ They talk about the person in past tense… then correct themselves. Then stop talking entirely.

✧ They touch things that belonged to the person like they’re fragile, sacred, about to disappear.

✧ They hoard the last voicemail, last message, last anything. Play it. Don’t play it. Just knowing it exists hurts enough.

✧ They leave something untouched, an empty seat, a half-packed bag, a coffee order that isn’t theirs.

✧ They get irrationally angry when someone else seems to be “moving on.” As if forgetting is betrayal.

✧ They don’t let themselves cry all at once. It comes in pieces. Like they’re afraid too much grief will drown them.

✧ They over-apologize. For being quiet. For being distant. For not being okay.

✧ They become hyper-aware of time, dates, anniversaries, time zones, the exact moment everything ended.

✧ They get superstitious. Ritualistic. As if doing things "right" might reverse something.

✧ They smile when they talk about the person. But it’s brittle. And it never quite touches their eyes.

The wrong thing is not the fact that you write a story with an oc, no, that's not the real problem, really.

IT'S JUST THE FACT THAT YOU USE THE WRONG TAG SO YOU HOPE MORE PEOPLE READ YOUR STORY. BUT BELIEVE ME IT'S JUST FUCKING ANNOYING 'CAUSE WE AREN'T ABLE TO FIND THE RIGHT FICS IF YOU KEEP DOING THIS!!!

There are people who like to read more stories with ocs than reader inserts, so use the fucking right tag go reach that community and stop spamming your stories among ours.

I don't think you get it but, you know, the purpose of fanfics with reader insert is to make the reader imagine her/himself as the mc of the story. The best part of these fics is the fact that EVERYONE can be included in them.

SO WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO RUIN THEM BY MAKING THE MC A PERSON THAT LOOKS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE READER AND EVEN HAS A NAME THAT IS NOT THEIRS?

When writing toxic family dynamics

Toxic family stuff isn’t always screaming matches or broken plates. Sometimes it’s quiet control. The expectation to shrink, the pressure to be perfect, the guilt that rides shotgun. It’s complicated. And it’s deeply, deeply personal.

✧ Make the love real, but conditional.  One of the most damaging things about toxic family is the illusion of love. It’s not “I love you no matter what.” It’s “I love you when you obey.” Let your character notice that.

✧ Control shows up in micro ways... Who’s allowed to speak. Who’s allowed to feel. Who apologizes first, even when they’re not wrong. Control doesn’t need to be loud. Sometimes it’s a raised eyebrow or a guilt trip.

✧  Let them question reality. Toxic families are great at gaslighting. Your character might constantly wonder, Was it really that bad? Am I being dramatic? Let them doubt their own memories. That internal confusion is real.

✧ The guilt will be crushing. Leaving a toxic family doesn’t feel empowering at first. It feels selfish. It feels wrong. It feels like betrayal, even when it's survival. Show your character grieving the fantasy of the family they wish they had.

✧ Let them try to earn love. Your character might work their ass off trying to “be good,” hoping maybe this time they’ll be enough. Toxic families move the goalposts. Let that break them a little.

✧ Show emotional whiplash... One moment everything is warm and nostalgic. The next, it’s tense and full of landmines. That unpredictability is the dynamic. Use it.

✧ Don’t make the villain cartoonish. Even the abuser might think they’re doing what’s best. They might bake cookies and say “I’m just worried about you.” That’s what makes it so damaging. Write them like people, flawed, manipulative, real.

✧ Let your character unlearn in layers. Even after they leave, they still flinch. Still fold under pressure. Still crave approval. Recovery isn’t clean. But it’s worth it. And when they finally say no, even just once, let it be electric.
