Rewatching ted lasso and in the first episode in keeleys first scene Jamie does the whole “after you so I can watch your ass” thing, and the first time you watch it it comes off as he’s just a bit of a dick, but now I’ve decided that’s just a little bit they do and its 100% reciprocal. Keeley goes “after you” and Jamie does a little strut
YES. Keeley was ABSOLUTELY into it!! tbh so much of the jamiekeeley s1 relationship that people talk about as "problematic" is really just that they're Like That. Like that's their mutual dynamic!!! Can be said for that scene, the photos of her Jamie keeps in his locker, the "I look like a banker with a great cock" "Babe, if those existed we wouldn't be together"... and while i do think their dynamic would be much different with their s3 selves, I also think those moments are very much Not a Big Deal and DARE I SAY... even fun and cute!

Honestly, I'm just glad that they're getting the 'you wouldn't court me' scene early into the season (since the dialogue made it sound like this was their first exchange since colin has been away) because that's not the focus, and isn't even the biggest issue they both will have to tackle. For god's sake, pen dragged his sisters' name around, said some dangerous things that might have ruined lives. This is not like the book, where all whistledown does is meanly jab at anyone. And yes, i think it has created some really interesting non-romantic tension in the story--i think they can do some interesting things with it. But i just hope they don't make colin into some doormat so the show can go, 'pen is morally absolved of all actions because he is okay with it!' That's a cop out, and you KNOW IT!!!!

i am going to say something controversial here. i don't think Ed is that happy to sit and fold laundry. I don't think Ed is happy to be sitting in a place with nothing else to do. I think he would get bored real quick again of these repetitive tasks.
I am not entirely convinced with "I'm folding socks. And that's completely okay." I don't think it's that okay with him. At that moment, he's trying more than anything to reassure Stede that this is what he wants, that this is a choice he made and Stede shouldn't feel guilty for it - and at the same time he is worried that without his beard, now visually stripped of that persona, Stede won't find him exciting anymore. I think in this scene Ed is trying very much to overcompensate, as he is trying to seek Stede's approval that this is something they can both settle for, that he's content here and hopefully Stede is too, right? This is a best-case scenario for the two of them, given the circumstances.
He folds the socks then unfolds them and then folds them again. His hands are itching for something more to do. He wants the finer comforts of life but he loves the seas too much to settle for no adventure at all. He didn't think he was allowed to want anything more. His eyes light up at the idea of inventing new names, escaping to China, a new hope blooming at the prospect of a new life where he is loved by Stede and it fuels his energy his shoulders don't slump and he gets so excitable at the prospect of the escape he was all meh about until a moment ago. He wants another adventure, he wants the seas he wants the piracy of it all.
He just doesn't want it to be as rough and cutthroat as he is used to. He wants to mellow out. He wants to be able to pirate merchant ships and then welcome Stede with loving arms on their shared ship. He wants the middle ground, the sweet spot where things are fun to loot and pirate when he's doing it with Stede. That's the most fun he's had in years, maybe ever. He wants the loving environment Stede creates for him to explore these softer parts of himself, something he has been missing all along. I agree that he feels the need to sever himself from "Blackbeard" in this process but I feel like if he retired completely he would be unsatisfied, it would not keep his soul still. He would love folding laundry if it wasn't the only thing he does.
I feel like the ideal way for Ed to be happy is if he gets to be a pirate, have his adventures on the high seas, where he lets Stede take the lead in the looting but without feeling the need to contribute to the looting to feel happy about this shared equality of co-captaincy. He wants to be seen as soft, as loving and be soft and loving. He doesn't want to be a pirate from the necessity of it as he had been pushed to before because of poverty, among so many other things. He wants to be able to enjoy his life, finer silk and marmalade on toast. He also wants to get to choose when he wants to be "the dread pyrate Blackbeard" for shits and giggles bc planning the theatrical antics of their piracy makes Stede laugh, but not have to perform this role in a way that is taxing and all consuming, like it had gotten for him until he met Stede and found a respite; and realized he was allowed to want something more, something different.

Thanks to this post on Reddit, I realized when one (1) unreliable narrator Jason Peter Todd was born. Is it any surprise that it was when he died :)))))))))
Your whole life??? I can count on one hand the number of times you got angry. Right now you’re hoping Sheila will make it to Heaven after she got you killed,
And you still consider her your mom. You lived and died an angel.
You had no clue what was going to happen. You were a child who never should have been left alone by his parent.
You and me both, Boston.

Two days ago I remembered Krabat existed and now I remember how this book had me hooked as a teen in school. The story just sucks you in and I remember being amazed, enchanted and horrified at the same time. I'm amazed that a book like this exists. The analysis options are seemingly endless. There's so much symbolism to umpack. And Wikipedia said Otfried Preußler was processing his time in the Hitler Youth in Krabat and every word I'm thinking how and where? Like what does the magic stand for? What is Lyschko's role and meaning as a snitch ? What's with the war against sweden? Also it's only men in this story and I'm thinking about how that is also important somehow? It's almost like a fraternity kind of situation, with all the rituals involved and I never thought about this but working in manual labor kinda does this to you? Also the dualism between women only communities and men only communities and the dualism between christianity and black magic? Also thinking about work and work communities, the themes of fair work conditions, but also how working closely together can give you a sense of belonging...also the benefits and detriments of strict hierarchy in work communities/organizations. As a person who worked in a kitchen as an apprentice in the hundreds year old german apprenticeship system I appreciate the vague villinification of the boss and the weird emotional dynamics at play. Also how his trauma with the death of his friend resulted in pain and suffering for his apprentices? This book can be interpreted in a socialist way and in a non socialist way, it has so much to say about morals, culture, colonialism, society etc. It has so much to say about emotions, relationship and life, how to handle emotions as a man in a men only setting and how NOT to. It's just not brainy at all you just kinda get it? And it's literally just the german Harry Potter??? And I don't understand why just because of it's simple writing we only read it once in seventh grade and not later because the analysis options are fruitful and endless. I'm literally so impressed by the depth and sheer viceral quality of this book.

Callum distracting himself by focusing on the things in his study / duties to Ezran, the mission, and then being legitimately distracted by the trauma of Aaravos’ possession. Rayla distracting herself by focusing solely on providing space for Callum’s emotions instead of her own and the mission.
