notes: okay thanks for being patient everyone! This is going to be part 1 of a series I’m starting about vacationing with the snk men! This was super fun to make in preparation to my own vacation that I’m on now! Please let me know your thoughts and what else you’d like to see from me. Any other characters I should include? EREN:

- Eren’s probably like 75% packed the day of the flight so the whole morning he’s scrambling to get the rest of his shit together

- I bet he has a gift of always having everything he needs? Has never forgotten a single item at home

- Probably looks like a model when he’s going to the airport, TSA and finding the gate and whatnot

- Like so damn effortless?? It’s all in his intense eyes and furrowed brow, he looks like he’s constantly smoldering

- In reality he’s just lost

- “(Y/N).” “What?” “We’ve been going the wrong direction for the past fifteen minutes. Our gate is the other way.”

- Eren is so bad with directions!! He just assumes he can figure it out without looking at a map

- He can’t

- I bet he’d sleep on you, head in your lap or just fully laid on top of you while you’re waiting to board

- Doesn’t want guys to hit on you while he’s asleep so he is literally on your lap the entire time to let them know you’re taken

- RIP if you have to pee he’s not getting up

- He’ll let you sleep on him during the plane to make up for it though? Poor guy can’t sleep on planes

- Just plays games on his phone the entire time or takes pictures of you sleeping to show you later

- Probably has the big clunky headphones for the plane ride but he’ll let you borrow them if you forget yours

- And he’ll sit in the middle seat for you xoxo

JEAN:

- Packed and ready to go the day before your flight

- But he’s the worst when it comes to packing!!!

- “Did you happen to pack an extra charger? Shit..” ends up buying the super overpriced ones at the airport, sorry king

- Otherwise he’d fully forget his carryon bag and have to turn around to pick it up from home, causing you both to almost miss your flight!!

- Probably the kind of guy to pay for TSA pre check or some other fancy upgrades during the flight

- Honestly probably just buys a bunch of expensive ass shit from the airport and doesn’t understand that he doesn’t have to do that?? “Gee, $16 for a burger? Okay I guess” like bro stop at McDonalds beforehand

- Super prepared for TSA and boarding, has you both checked in online already

- I bet he’d actually like walking around the airport and chatting with you, excited to go on a vacation with you! Doesn’t like to sit still while waiting to board

- Probably feels more comfortable having an arm around you or hold your hand while you wander the airport or wait to board

- Just wants to make sure you’re safe, plus he’s an affectionate guy when he’s sleepy and boy can he sleep on flights

- Probably has a neck pillow

- Would also probably be down to do some skincare stuff with you on the flight?? Like a mask or something hahah

- ALWAYS jokes about joining the mile high club with you, raising his eyebrows and elbowing you as you scoot out of your seat to go to the bathroom. “Oh? Should I come too?”

ARMIN:

- Super prepared and packed

- The type of traveler to provide you with a packing list and an itinerary for the trip??? So cute

- AND he’ll make sure to pack an extra charger just in case you forget one, a true hero

- “(Y/N) I figured you’d enjoy seeing this museum since I know you’re interested in architecture from that period, and I know that their collection has a really nice display!!!“ the whole trip has little surprises that he takes you to see!

- He will get you both to the airport like four hours too early, so sorry

- You guys are both sitting waiting to board for hours and he’s just reading one of the books he brought, so you better make sure you have a way to pass time lmao

- He will absolutely let you borrow a book otherwise :)

- Will talk your ear off (in a good way) about whatever place you’re going to!! Has researched the location thoroughly and will randomly tell you fun facts or anecdotes about the places you’ll visit!

- Honestly probably gets a bit anxious when it comes to airports?? They’re super hectic and he just wants to avoid as much stress as possible

- Too anxious to nap while waiting for the plane to board so I’d imagine him almost nodding up and then his head jolting back upright yk?

- But that means he’ll be out like a light immediately after take off!

- Would honestly love the window seat probably but will let you get first pick(: as long as you keep the window open so he can watch take off!!!

- Has one of those mini book lights so he can read without bothering others on the plane, in case he wakes up

- Might be a touch grumpy after the flight but I mean that’s his fault for always opting for the window seat

- After a quick stop at the hotel to drop off bags and take a nap and he’s good to go!

CONNIE:

- Contrary to what you might think I promise he is not a constant ball of energy

- Honestly similar to Eren I feel like he would just look so effortless??

- But secretly there is so much effort lol he definitely makes you look at his options for clothes for the AIRPORT

- “I gotta look like I’m not trying, yeah? Which pair of joggers makes my ass look good babe?”

- Chunky headphones, large ass fancy sneakers, etc

- Is so bad at directions too but who cares! Y’all get to the airport with enough time to spare and Connie’s kind of incapable of being in a bad mood when it comes to his vacations

- “Oh, I think our gates on the other side of the airport but check out this dope little snack shop, we can stock up for the 50 mile walk to our gate!” (It’s a ten minute walk)

- Honestly would be super fun to travel with, probably the perfect balance of keeping you busy/chatting and doing his own thing?

- While you guys settle in and wait to board he’s pointing out random people (discreetly!) and giving them entire backgrounds and life stories

- I feel like kids would be drawn to him too? So randomly he’ll nudge you and gesture towards a kid in a stroller who has been looking at him for seven minutes

- “What do I do? Should I square up?” Connie NO it’s a child

- Otherwise he’s probably going to have his headphones on, playing some game on his phone, and has an arm draped around you casually

- For some reason he’s obsessed with airport gift shops? He doesn’t care that they’re super overpriced

- “(Y/N) let’s get souvenir magnets!! 2 for $10!” “Connie we haven’t left our hometown yet” “I wonder if Sasha wants a magnet too…”

- Will probably sit wherever on the airplane so he lets you take the aisle seat, but heads up this man cannot hold his bladder so it might be better to give up the aisle, he’s up five times a flight at least

PORCO:

- Silently brooding for most of the time at the airport

- Doesn’t like them at all?? Too many obnoxious people, security is crowded and stressful, food is overpriced, etc

- Similar to Jean, forgets the most basic things like headphones or a phone charger and has to shell out like $20 for a shitty pair

- Also I feel like he just happens to be stopped for a pat down whenever he flies?? (I got one and they said certain pants materials light up their machine)

- I promise he’s super polite when it comes to TSA and other people at the airport but he’s just constantly inconvenienced by every little thing?? He just has bad luck is all

- Once you make it to the gate he throws on a pair of sunglasses and tucks himself into a chair and sleeps lmao

- He probably has a tradition of watching movies or something all night before leaving for vacation? Just a weird thing but he swears it’s good luck

- “(Y/N) c’mon we have to watch all of the Jurassic Park movies tonight. If we don’t the flight might be cancelled c’mon I already made popcorn for the both of us I can’t eat it all myself. (Y/N), babe, c’mon”

- That’s probably why he’s grumpy at the airport lmao he didn’t sleep at all the night before

- He’s also the kind of guy to insist on holding all of your luggage for you even though you both have 2 bags and it’s kind of a lot

- If you guys end up sitting in an exit row he’d spend a good portion of the trip panicking internally about the hypothetical situation in which he has to open the airplane door

- He spends the rest of the flight asleep or doing a crossword on his phone lol

- Oh he’d love to watch a movie with you on the flight!!

- The back of the seat TV thing yk?? He’d be so bad at trying to sync up both of your screens so you can watch together

- And his $20 shitty headphones are already busted so you guys end up watching together on your screen, cuddled up and using your headphones together

REINER:

- Oh lord he’d try so hard to prepare everything so that you guys can have a stress free vacation

- The type of guy to take things personally when they go wrong??

- “What do you mean our flight got delayed thirty minutes ☹️”

- Not mad at anyone!! Super polite and respectful obviously!! But he feels like it’s his fault

- “(Y/N)… I’m so sorry. I mistakingly booked us business class seats instead of economy” “Reiner those are literally NICER seats it’s fine!!”

- Will carry all of your bags the entire time

- He’s definitely brought some of your skincare products in his carryon bag because he was worried about you not having room in your suitcase

- Omg he’d also make sure there’s room for souvenirs in his bag!!

- I bet he’d come home with every cheesy little trinket, either as a gift for his friends and family or for you both to keep!

- If you wanted him to, he’d probably clean your cuticles or something while you’re waiting to board

- He just gets so much relief from knowing that you’re taken care of, he’s so honored to be able to take care of you😭 I love him

- That’s why he’ll totally take the window or middle seat to give you more leg room with the aisle

- Which goes horribly wrong because as we know Reiner is a large man

- Will let you sleep on him during the flight too, even if he cannot sleep

- After the flight the poor man just finds the nearest empty spot and lies down on the ground for four minutes to recover from being scrunched up for so long

LEVI:

- Similar to Porco, he just looks so grumpy at the airport, even more than usual

- They’re just so loud and the kids are annoying and they’re so hectic?? And unpredictable and gross??

- If you’re stressed at all he’ll definitely put on a brave face and lead you to your gate

- But in a moment of weakness might reach out for your hand during boarding, just to make sure you’re there

- Will also sleep on you once you’re in a secluded area of your boarding area

- Once he’s out, he’s OUT

- I’d imagine him being a really light sleeper normally, but in high stress situations he’s probably a lot harder to wake

- Especially when he’s going on a vacation with you yk?

- I feel like it’s 50/50 whether he’s prepared for the trip or not btw

- If he is prepared, he has your passport and boarding pass neatly waiting for you

- If not, he’s one of those people who holds up the line as he shuffles through his bag for it 💀 he just forgets that he needs it out it’s not his fault!

- He likes the window seat because he can lean against the window and sleep during the flight

- Doesn’t want to admit it’s because he knows he’s small and should be the one to sit there hahahah

- Also his ears probably pop really bad so the window seat isn’t the best for him but he’s stubborn 💀

- RUNS out of the airport as soon as y’all exit the plane

ZEKE:

- Maybe it’s just a Jaeger gene, but he also looks so effortlessly good at the airport??

- Unlike Eren though, he’s good at navigation so he’s got you both where you need to be with little to no stress

- Probably a touch intense when it comes to inconveniences though??? Poor airport workers

- He’s not mean he’s just very direct

- “😐 what do you mean we aren’t sitting together, can’t you just move some other people around?”

- Actually I bet he’d reserve seats for you both so that you can sit together but like each have aisle seats? Honestly the smartest of the bunch because that way you both get leg room

- Honestly I feel like Zeke is super put together so on vacations he might seem kind of lazy?

- But it’s the only time he gets to ease off yk

- So it might seem like he’s being too nonchalant about things or where you’re going yk?

- Like he’d be content just staying home with you for a week and getting to be away from work

- And he is excited about whatever you both have planned!! He’s just a “we’re play it by ear” type of guy

- “So what do you want to do after we drop off our stuff at the hotel?” “I don’t care” 😐😐 thanks Zeke

- But I promise he’s excited okay

- He’d probably want to hold your hand during the flight in between doing his crosswords lol, but he’d squeeze your hand as you prepare to land!!

I don’t actually know anything about your underswap I’d love to hear about it!

explodes ok so.

this ended up being the length of the average one-shot so it has to go under the cut

tbf my underverse is not super developed. i mostly just have. sans, papyrus, alphys, and undyne figured out (though not fully) and the rest im still thinking through. but nevertheless i love my swaps and would die for them.

between those four, the swaps are pretty standard (so sans and papyrus swap, and so do alphys and undyne), but they generally have a bit more like?? backstory as to why they are the way that they are?? my underswap is like. base ut but something went sideways and now shit's weird. so these characters, for the most part, started out like their classic counterparts, and this is why my swaps have more of their base ut traits than some other swaps.

like- for example, my swap papyrus started out more or less like classic papyrus. he's energetic and ambitious and he puts his all into the things that he does and he believes in everyone!! but he lets his reality wear him down more than classic: where classic keeps up his "fake it til you make it" kind of attitude towards his own popularity and just keeps trying even if he fails, my swap pap realizes that no matter what he does, he's not the person he wants to be. he wants to be the cool popular guy that everyone wants to be friends with, but… through years of rejection and failure, he eventually resigns himself to just being some fucking guy. not important. forgettable.

so he stops trying. he stops trying to make friends, trying to put himself out there, etc. the thought of joining the royal guard doesnt even cross his mind because he'd preemptively decided that its pointless — he wont get in and hell just make a fool of himself trying. why bother? the funny thing, though, is that, as a papyrus, i guess he can never truly stop trying, because he kind of does a 180 here. instead of being some cool extrovert popular guy, he assumes the persona of just the average guy. he masks his effort levels, trying to make it seem like he's someone who really doesnt try that hard (because he doesnt want to look like a tryhard), so like for example, where classic papyrus speaks in all caps to show his effort (and classic sans, conversely, speaks in all lowercase to show the exact opposite thing), my swap papyrus speaks with proper capitalizations because thats what normal, average people do!! and hes just a perfectly normal, average guy… just your average, completely forgettable rando…

i guess at his core, hes someone influenced wildly by shame and a fear of being his true self, because he doesnt see that self as being worthy enough because it doesnt fit his specific criteria (this is smthn that also applies to classic papyrus, at least to a certain extent, but thats not what im here to yap abt)

and then his spiral into depression is what pushes my swap sans into becoming a proper swap. he, like classic, knows about the timeline and resets and whatnot, and has, too, given up. why bother? nothing matters. except then he looks around and he sees the townspeople notice. his friends at the bar ask if hes okay, and when he blatantly lies to them, he can feel their hopes dwindle. he feels the whole town almost become darker, heavier. he cant fathom himself having this kind of impact on others, but he feels it and even if its not his fault, if its just a byproduct of them all being stuck underground for so damn long, he feels like hes doing something wrong. he feels guilty. and then he sees papyrus. his brother, who had always shined like the brightest star in the sky, giving up and losing hope and hiding away from the world. and sans feels responsible.

so he does the only thing he can think of — he decides to try. of course, that doesnt mean that he actually feels any better. he doesnt think this will do anything in the larger scheme of things. but he cant stand seeing his brother like that. he cant stand the guilt. and so he becomes more like classic papyrus — he enrolls in the guard, he makes rounds around snowdin, he cooks and cleans and drags his brother out of the house with him. and even if he has no energy and he feels like hes drowning but the waves are still crashing on top of him one after the other, he keeps going because anything is better than the feeling of failure.

this is where id go in on his backstory and why he feels this way about failure, but. i kind of. dont have anything. and anyway i keep these two's backstories brief in most aus bc canonically we do not know what the fuck is up w them and i dont know if we ever will. and really im fine with that, the mystery makes them. but yeah anyway, due to circumstances, my swap sans is riddler with guilt and the fear of failure, and he will do anything to prove he is not a failure, that he can at least do something right.

oh and also speaking of guilt, papyrus notices this change in his brother. and he recognizes that he has a part in it. and as grateful as he is for his brother's attempts to cheer him up, he also feels immensely guilty because he can see better than anyone else in the whole underground just how much his brother's self-imposed duty weighs on him. he blames himself for letting himself get so bad that now his brother is suffering from it as well, but he also cant get any better. cue the self-loathing cycle. anyway, as a result, he ends up sharing less with sans. its a means of lessening his burden — if he doesnt know the things going wrong in papyrus's life, he wont have to waste time and energy on him and wont have to have more on his already overloaded plate!! its the perfect plan except they drift apart and now their closeness feels so surface-level and papyrus feels guilty about lying and he knows his brother is still worried, perhaps moreso now that he knows less and he's so scared theyll drift further apart but he's committed fully to this so he just keeps digging the hole and he doesnt know how to stop. (theyre still close, but less so than the classic bros, id say)

ok enough abt those two alphyne time.

these two are actually. less developed. and theres one specific part ill talk abt a bit later that im rlly not sure what to do with. but anyway. they, too, had their original roles at first. undyne, the rambunctious, hotheaded kid who kept getting into fights and couldnt sit still long enough to read one paragraph, and alphys, the nerdy kid who practically lived at the dump, collecting comics and anime… and yeah they somehow ended up the royal scientist and head of the royal guard, respectively.

i havent fully thought through why undyne would end up the scientist, but itd probably have something to do with injury. she keeps her eye injury in my swap. but as evidenced by base ut, a simple missing eye cant stop undyne! so she probably had a more. extensive injury, likely coupled with other factors. im not fully sure what happens, but what i am sure of is i want her to have a similar focus on robotics as alphys. she decides that if she cant fulfill the hopes and dreams of monsterkind on the frontlines, she'll become a different kind of hero. i think she mostly makes prosthetics, likely coupling them with weaponry bc thats just cool. she finds the best ways to combine mobility and magic efficiency and is widely respected by monsters for what she does (also, if youre wondering why monsters would need prosthetics when they have op healing and are made of magic, it comes from my personal theory that the longer a wound is left unhealed, the harder it is to heal it perfectly. so like, for example, it's possible to use magic healing to do things like reattach limbs. it will work as long as the recipient of the healing isnt dead. however, this reattachment needs to happen quick. depending on how long you wait, you could lose significant mobility in the limb, or just not be able to attach it at all. also, theres monsters like monster kid who dont have certain limbs. so i guess where some monsters get prosthetics to replace lost body parts, others get them to have entirely new body parts. anyway.)

meanwhile, alphys becomes a guard through a series of events. i think she signs up to be a sentry in hotland or something at first, because positions were open and they didnt exactly have many requirements, and she needed money. she ended up being like- exceptional. she's detail oriented and driven and is good at problem-solving, and her reviews were always stellar, so at some point i think she was approached about a promotion. which i think she took because, again, money. i think the guard has good benefits and pay.

to explain how she becomes the head of the guard, i want to take a moment to talk abt the guard in my swap. because toriel is the queen and is not thrilled at the prospect of killing humans, i think the guard isnt a thing at all until a couple humans in. i think several were less than friendly, killing several monsters. at first, when people brought this up, i think toriel would defend the humans by saying that they were just scared or acting in self-defense etc. but 1) i doubt monsters particularly liked their ruler defending people who killed their loved ones and 2) the human that got the guard established was. probably pretty bad. dont ask me which soul this was, i wont tell you bc i dont know. but they killed a sizeable number of monsters, to the point where not even toriel could defend them. they were probably the only human she killed (ill get to that later). after their death, the guard was established. still not really to kill humans as much as to ensure they got to the queen quickly and safely, as well as to protect monsters in case a particularly violent human fell down.

anyway yeah with this context, alphys was more fitting to be the head of the royal guard than undyne, id say. she's less violent and more mindful than undyne. i think toriel herself talked to her about becoming head of the guard. she said no at first, i think. she still had her ambitions of being a scientist, she was just doing this whole guard thing for the money. i think what pushed her to accepting was undyne getting the position of royal scientist.

this is another part im. not fully sure of. theres something that gets toriel's attention in regard to undyne, but i really dont know what. maybe just her reputation as someone who's making monster lives better day by day. toriel wants to give someone like that more resources and more voice as hope dwindles in the underground (i think its a bot of a more bleak situation in underswap like theyre just. sad. for reason and not. because where in base ut the underground is full of hope because they only need one human soul before theyre freed, interspersed with quiet dread because they dont know when they'll get that final soul, i think its more of the latter in my swap. theres more reason to this but ill touch on that in a bit).

anyway yeah undyne becomes the royal scientist and alphys is like welp. and accepts the position of head of the royal guard on the condition that she is trained to fight (as a member of the guard already, she had some training, but being the head is like. a whole other ballpark, yknow?) and yeah she as a character is. still pretty unsure of herself. she's a bit more confident than classic alphys because of her position and her training, but she's still got a lotta self-loathing and self-esteem issues. she still has her stutter, but she's managed to work through it enough to give speeches and shit without stuttering. catch her off-guard tho and she'll stutter and generally be kinda awkward (her stutter is like one of my fav things abt her as someone who also has a stutter i will never get rid of it ever).

she's very unsure of herself as a leader and constantly wonders if shes worthy of this position. she thinks she got it by pure luck when someone better suited couldve gotten it instead. i think she felt very resentful at the beginning, too. abt someone else getting the job of royal scientist before her. and its interspersed with the self loathing like "of course someone else got it before you, what did you ever do to work towards it? god, why did you accept this job? you shouldve just done fast food or something. or just stuck to science as best you couldve. god, no wonder someone got it before you. youre not worthy of it." i think she held a sort of resentment toward undyne too at first, but after they met and she realized that undynes. kinda chill, actually, she felt incredibly guilty about it. its not like she did this on purpose, she doesnt deserve this hatred…

anyway yeah shes head of the royal guard and she hires sans and trains him and their training is half actual training and half just fucking around and watching anime/movies and whatever. and her training/fighting i think are more. formulaic than classic undyne's. she's more about plan and strategy than raw power. also her section would still be in hotland. mostly because i didnt want to put undyne in hotland bc she hates it. lmao.

anyway undyne!! i think she has some regrets about not being able to become the hero she'd dreamed of being, but she also has come to accept her new role. she's more or less satisfied being who she is. she's one of the few characters who doesnt really feel that pressure of "was i supposed to be something else?" in this au. because at the end of the day, her goal stays the same: help monsterkind and crush humanity!! and she can do that as a nerd, too. i think toriel isnt too thrilled abt her attitude toward humans, but theres not much she can do abt it. i think the underswap underground is generally like. slightly less hostile to humans than undertale? (because the queen doesnt want humans dead, but monsters remember the hurt theyve suffered at the hands of humans) but undyne grew up on stories of the war from gerson and stuff like that, so she feels pretty strongly abt who's right and who's wrong and what should be done about that. i do also think she knows asgore, but this is a part im not fully sure of because i dont fucking know what to do with asgore.

also alphyne are still canon of course they are. this isnt glitchtale. they probably also meet at the dump, as alphys is contemplating things and undyne is searching around for junk to work on. and they talk and share their theories about where that creepy void leads. and they start hanging out and alphys shows undyne anime (and inspires her to go crazier with her prosthetics and other robotics works) and they work on battle strategies as a way of flirting /hj. and theres one problem that they kinda share bc i dont know what to do with it. that being the amalgamates.

so its unclear if the amalgamates would even exist in this au actually, but if they do i have two routes i can go with them i think: 1) undyne is the one responsible for them, but she doesnt lie and hide about it (not that i think she could do that much bc toriel would be expecting reports and stuff). she tells everyone whats going on, letting them see their families and whatnot, but still working on them and trying to figure out how to. fix them. and as a result theres just. amalgamates shambling around the underground sometimes. and the last human runs into them sometimes and gets freaked out and it serves as this foreshadowing moment to who undyne is as a character and serves to paint her as someone absolutely terrifying (which isnt necessarily true but also not necessarily untrue). or 2) alphys is the one responsible.

deciding to do one final science thing because fuck it, shes got nothing to lose (she has everything to lose), she decides to try to make a monster's soul last after death. how would she do this in a position where she cant easily get access to the things she'd need? god fucking knows. the main thing about this route is that it adds even more guilt to alphys's plate, which is pretty fitting for her as a character. and also guilt hi hello another guilt mention. this seemed more thought out in my head moving on.

some minor details abt this swap also are that mtt and mew mew are swapped, and mew mew is a popular streamer (and livestreams herself kicking your ass); bp and catty and bratty are swapped just bc i think its funny; grillby and muffet are in a weird territory of swap. i think theyre swapped but still in the same places as base game (bc grillby likes the cold and muffet will literally die dont do this to her), and maybe grillby gets the miniboss instead of muffet (she just forces you to give her money lolol).

and now the final thing: the dreemurrs. listen. i do not know what the fuck to do with these guys. they kinda fuck with the whole story if swapped in ways that are. not good at all. im including chara and frisk in "the dreemurrs" btw for reasons.

because like- we know what toriel would do if she was queen. she tells us. she would get one soul, cross the barrier, get six more, and then free the underground. and if she did that, there would be no story to tell. so. and asgore couldnt just lock himself in the ruins or smthn like toriel does in base ut, because toriel would break that fucking door down trying to get to him because she knows the humans come from the ruins, and she does not trust asgore in the slightest. and i dont even want to touch on the implications of asriel being alive in underswap. so i do not know what to do with him period. chara and frisk seem like a simple swap, but. theyre still distinct characters, whose personalities and actions do have an effect on the plot of undertale. and swapping them has repercussions. mostly in shit like philosophy which im notoriously bad at. so for now im just not thinking abt them.

ok back to toriel and asgore. i have like. an inkling of an idea as to what to do with them. that idea being that asgore, angry after the deaths of his children, wants to wage war, but toriel gets wind of the idea before he's able to make an official declaration, and grows absolutely disgusted with him. she banishes him and assumes the position of single ruler of the underground. i honestly dont know what to do with asgore past this point, but i do know that at least in the beginning, he is under strict supervision (likely by gerson bc gerson).

so what does toriel do as queen? she waits for a human to fall. she welcomes them as she did the first one. she does not take their soul. she cares for them and gives them the best life she can. as they grow older, she talks to them about using their soul to cross the barrier after they die. and they agree. the first (second) human dies of old age after a good, peaceful life in the underground. toriel absorbs their soul, crosses the barrier… and is nearly killed by the humans, still fearful and angry because it hasn't been that long since the last time they saw a monster. she goes back, deciding to instead wait a little longer. in that time, another human falls, then another… but after the first soul, i think most dont die of old age. several die by accident, several are killed in self defense. as mentioned above, at some point the guard is established due to the violence of one of the humans. toriel doesnt absorb these souls, instead keeping them safe in containment.

we know that when a human's soul is absorbed, they still persist (as evidenced by 1) asriel telling us that chara told him to do things and had control over their body when he absorbed their soul and 2) the photoshop flowey fight), i think toriel kind of feared losing herself and/or hurting the humans somehow by absorbing their souls. and with some of the more violent humans, i think the fears of losing herself grew stronger. so yeah she chooses to wait until the humans no longer fear/want to kill monsters or whatever.

and this has influence on the underground of course because imagine your ruler acquires the necessary means to cross the seal trapping you underground and you think that finally, finally youre free!! and then she comes right back like "yeah uh actually they still want us dead so lets wait a bit longer…"

how crushing is that? knowing that not only was your freedom a lie, you now know for sure that the humans outside want you dead? that chances are that even if you do manage to leave the underground, youll either be killed or forced right back under? this i think is a major reason the underswap underground is lacking in hope compared to the undertale underground. but yeah i. dont know if ill end up going with this, actually. because, again, i do not know what the fuck to do with the dreemurrs and i hate it.

another thing im not sure of is the whole "sans's promise to toriel" thing?? bc i kinda still wanna have that in some form, yknow? and i think it works if he's a guard and shes the queen. he visits her at some point to do a report or smthn (maybe bc alphys is busy who knows) and he notices shes looking kinda gloomy. so he gives her his best knock knock joke and she absolutely loves it. so he keeps going and then she gives him a couple of her own and yeah you get it. i just like sans and toriel they are the besties ever.

Chira can you share all your Hamlet thoughts/feelings/hot takes/headcanons because it's also my favourite and I love hearing what people have to say about it. It's one of the things I can't shut up about. Could talk for hours!!!!!

Here I will copy/paste straight out of discord the last time I went off about my opinions on Hamlet to a friend:

I have no idea how Hamlet makes sense to people if he wasn't young (16-17, 21 tops), because everything he's about is this kid who is incredibly overwhelmed with the knowledge that his father has been murdered but he also has literally fucking no one to grieve that with, because he can't trust anyone. And it's not as simple as accusing his uncle, no one would believe it, least of all his mother.

So of course he gets it in his head that the only real vindication and closure he can get is to somehow force people to see the truth for themselves and believe it as a way of finding some kind of freedom from his burden. And he's a little too smart for his own good because he manages to get by with being completely irony poisoned and making sure no one gets a clear read on him, but at the same time he gets so irony poisoned that people either credit him with being a 9D chess master or losing insincerity to himself.

like, I remember early on that love letter he sends Ophelia that everyone remembers -- Doubt that the stars are fire, etc etc

Out of context it sounds extremely romantic, but in context the scene is Ophelia's dad is reading out the entirety of Hamlet's letter to Ophelia to his uncle and like half the court, and they're all bagging on him for being so bad at poetry. And hell Hamlet drops the rhapsodizing halfway through the letter to go "yeah yeah I know I'm bad at it but don't think for a second I don't love you all right? you're the most important person to me"

and if I remember correctly he slips in a line where's like, no matter what happens don't ever think I don't

So later on when Ophelia's dead and Hamlet's told about it and all his friends are like "come on why are you pretending you care, you were never there and you bullied her" and Hamlet loses his shit in this big monologue about how he loved her with the strength of a thousand suns and whatnot

But by then it's supposed to be like, who are you trying to convince, them or yourself?

And I think that on its own is pretty dense interpretation, but I personally would go so far to say leaving it there still assumes that Hamlet was insincere to begin with, or lost his sincerity because people look back on that letter to Ophelia like

he was writing it to Ophelia

so her dad would read it

so then his uncle would hear it

and they'd all believe some other bait trap on how to fool them

like some master chess move

when, like, no one actually considers the more obvious option:

That he was perfectly sincere in that letter, that he not at all expected Ophelia to give it to her father, and that he actually was just that bad at poetry (not fake being bad, actually bad) and trying to tell her to trust him through what's gonna be a real rough time and to not believe what he says to her when he's acting all weird to people

Which makes Ophelia failing to trust him and kill herself even sadder because Hamlet's rage monologue in response to it would kind of then look more like... Count of Monte Cristo's moment of realizing he fucking went too far and 'what have I done' thing in chasing his ambitions

Like, it involved a casualty of someone who wasn't supposed to be in the crossfire, but furthermore it happens to be the girl he adores and he's the one that kind of gaslit her into it.

That's more of a kid that's way in over his head and realized he fucked up, and makes more emotional sense than some guy trying to act like a whacky mastermind to me

that's basically it. Everyone looks at that letter being like "aha he was fake being bad at poetry to make everyone just think he's a morose teen with a crush" kind of thing but like…. being a teen with a crush is what he would be

I don't understand people treating hamlet like he doesn't have emotional consequences for himself instead of just being a depressive vengeance obsessive teenager spiralling out of control

that he's trying for something and fucking failing at it despite how smart he is at it

because he's a kid who feels alone and can't trust anyone with why he feels alone, and this is the best way he knows to get people to actually understand what he's dealing with

I assume this is for Confession Sunday?? I'll label it as such just in case. What I Dislike About Tom...

I can't really say that I "dislike" anything about Tom honestly? I think "dislike" is a strong word? I LOVE more about Tom than I "dislike", I'll just say that lol.

If there were things that I wish I could change, it would probably be these few things...

Sometimes, I can tell that the stress of this industry has taken a toll on him over the years... 😔 How he was back in 2017 when he was still bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in this industry is somewhat different from how he is now in 2024. I mean, it's fine, because we all grow up and mature, and whatnot. But what I mean is that sometimes it feels as though fame has taken a toll on him, and his heart isn't really into it that much anymore. I see it sometimes in how he takes pictures with some fans, or how he has reacted when someone is in his personal space. 😔 It's sad to me to see that his level of fame has affected him in that way (even he has admitted that he isn't really too much of a fan of that aspect of fame, and Zendaya has helped him to be a bit more gracious towards fans)..... I almost wish that he were a little LESS famous?? That way, he wouldn't have to deal with those aspects as much. I can tell it stresses him out and makes him a bit crabby. Just something I've noticed. Again, it could just be me reading too much into things, but part of me kind of wishes that his level of fame were a little LOWER. Not everyone deals with large amounts of fame all that easily. 😔 It just seems like it's hard for him sometimes, and I hate to see that. He's a VERY nice guy and is always respectful of fans, but at times I can see what he means when he says that he can have a "short fuse" lol.... I think Tom would be just fine being an actor but not having the level of fame that he has. I really do think he would prefer to just act and not be clamored down the street lol, or followed by paparazzi asking him questions about his relationships, or have people invading his privacy, or having to always stop while out in public, etc. That can get tiring! This is what I mean by, I kind of wish he were not AS famous and recognizable. It's because I think it would be less stressful on him.

I hate how everyone wants to keep Tom in a Spider-Man box, and I would love to see him one day venture out from the ComicBook films, and really show people what he's really capable of. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Tom as Spiderman, and always will! 🥰 But I think because he's been filming the Spiderman character for almost a decade now, I feel like people (especially critics🙄) have sort of put him in a box.... He's so much MORE than Spiderman to me. He's done other work that has expanded his filmography and really shown his acting range, but I feel like some people just ignore this.

I want to see Tom pick some slightly better scripts/films in the future. 🫣 He's already said that he's going to be more selective in the future going forward. I don't think there's been anything necessarily wrong with his prior films (like some fans have had issues with), but I KNOW what he's capable of, and I would love to see him working with some other great directors and actors like he did in the past. I also think that for him, he shouldn't be afraid to take some non-lead roles every once in a while either. I know he's a "leading man", but I don't see anything wrong with doing more ensemble films...especially if the director is great, and the cast he's working with is great. I think he excels in them. 😊 TDATT, Infinity War, The Current War, In the Heart of the Sea, etc.

— he called you up, thinking it’d be a normal phone call just like any other. he’d tease you before scaring you a bit. then jones would hang up just as you were getting ready to chastise him. he likes to keep you on your toes at all times. today was different, however.. today it was you keeping him on his toes. you had been thinking about his calls for a while, wondering how to deal with them. after a while, you came to a conclusion— it was so simple, so obvious that you were amazed that you hadn’t figured it out sooner! it was all a prank. probably for television or something. this guy wasn’t really a stalker.. he was just pretending to be one. it was the only clear answer. it was the only answer that you were comfortable with accepting. with that in mind… you decided to give his prank show a little bit of new content. something.. exciting. 

— “hey gorgeous,” alfred said, hiding by one of the bushes in your backyard. it’s a little cramped but he had made a little nook out of the small space between your bushes. it was his home away from home. “how was your day today?”

— you responded normally, deciding to keep things tame for now. conversation was pretty smooth until he suddenly chose to switch things up. he just loved to creep you out for shits and giggles. “i can see you in your bedroom through your upstairs window,” jones said casually, idly messing with a piece of his hair as he spoke, “you look nice today, by the way.”

— this was the moment you were waiting for. he wanted prank content? fine! here it was. you paused for a second before replying, “thank you.. you know.. if you’re nice, maybe i’ll give you something better to look at.. something more.. interesting.” you spoke into the phone softly, your voice low and somewhat seductive in nature. the tone of your voice alone was enough to make alfred’s eyes widen and his face flush red. he snapped his head to look at your window, intently watching as you laid yourself on your bed. regardless of whether or not it was supposed to be a sexy sort of movement, he found it wildly attractive. and just like that, he was horny…

— there was nothing but silence as he tried to get himself together. of course, you didn’t know about his.. situation. you started to feel a little guilty. what if it wasn’t a prank show but.. a pranking youtube channel? like.. the kind for kids? oh, god.. here you were, trying to be flirty on a video for a kids channel. “sorry, was that bad for the video? i assumed this was an adult prank show.. you can just cut it, i’ll keep things PG from now on, i promise.” you apologized into the phone, frowning to yourself.

— after a few moments more of silence from the other side of the phone, jones finally spoke up again. “no, no.. no, it’s perfect,” he mumbled after a bit, running a hand through his hair as he tried to force himself into calming down. “don’t apologize. the uh.. prank show channel? we can use this, don’t worry. hey, i’ve gotta end the call now. edit the footage and whatnot. i’ll call you later to hash out details, ‘kay?”

— alfred hung up shortly afterwards. you were satisfied with how things turned out, figuring that the problem had been solved. unfortunately for you, the problem had only worsened.. after your little show today, he was more desperate than ever to have you. somehow, someway.. someday.. you’d be his and he’d be yours. but enough of that, right now he had to hurry and get home. he didn’t really feel like jerking off in your bushes.

 — you frowned as your phone rang. there was no doubt in your mind that it was your little admirer who was calling. he’d spoken with you several times over the phone, always kind and polite, but he made no effort to actually get with you. after a while it started to feel like a very long winded prank.. the kind that started in middle school and seemed to get worse in highschool. the kind of prank you hated most. the emotional ones. you hated to admit it but you had sort of fell for the man through the phone. he genuinely seemed to care about you.. or at least, he acted like he cared about you. your mind seemed to wander towards the worst possible situations. the thought of having a real stalker never crossed your mind however the thought of a highschool bully or maybe a workplace enemy prank calling you, that crossed your mind numerous times. 

— you were usually so rational but the thought of someone trying to pull a prank and tug at your emotions.. it pissed you off, to be frank. so when you answered the phone, you decided to give this prank caller a show. you would flirt back. they’d be so freaked out that they’d either confess or immediately hang up and never call again. that’s how it usually went with ‘jokes’ like this. once you show any sort of interest back, they drop you just to shatter your heart. well this time you were ready. this time you were in control.

— conversation started off like it always did with talking about your day and how you’ve been. you weren’t one to flirt out of nowhere, so you let the mood build itself up. fortunately for you, there was a moment of banter that was the perfect opportunity. you could hear him chuckle over the phone, probably about something teasing you had said. you took the chance without hesitation, holding the phone close to your mouth so every word would be heard perfectly. “oh secret admirer,” you cooed, “i feel like we’ve really gotten close.. i’m dying to know who you are. i really want to meet you.”

— you were flirty but not seductive, as anything that even remotely hinted towards sex could be used as blackmail against you. you were a master at this game. there was silence for a long while, interrupted only by the sound of you shifting your phone from your hand and laying it on your kitchen counter so you could cook for yourself and talk at the same time. you assumed that the silence was a good thing, that maybe your pranker was rethinking their thoughts and regretting your actions. you had no clue that arthur was on the other end of the phone completely awestruck.

— oh how he’s dreamed of this moment! really, it’s like everything he’s dreamed of and more! you loved him, you really loved him, and here you were, setting yourself up on a silver platter for him! he was immediately nervous as he’d always imagined you confessing but he never thought of what would come after that. the silence was just him thinking. thinking about whether or not this was a trap.. thinking about how to reply to you.. thinking so hard about the opportunity laid out in front of him. kirkland responded after a bit longer. “sorry for the silence, love.. i feel the same way, i really do.. i want to be with you.. i want to be with you all the time,” he began. 

— you froze like a deer in the headlights as he started to speak. he didn’t notice your lack of a response though, continuing to proclaim his love. “i spend all day and night thinking of you.. every dollar i make is for you, every.. every single moment i’m not with you it’s like torture for me. i’m not happy when i’m not watching you or thinking of you.” as arthur rambled on and on, he stopped controlling his voice. his accent slipped through and it sounded vaguely familiar.. but you didn’t have any time to pick apart his voice. you were more focused on his words, his admission to.. to stalking you. to being a stalker.

— admittedly.. you had known in the back of your mind from the beginning it really wasn’t a prank. you weren’t stupid.. but you had gotten swept away in your emotions regardless.. and now look at you. your stalker thinks you love him back. 

— “i’m.. willing to show my face.. if you’re willing to unlock the back door. i promise i won’t try anything. i’m already outside.. do hurry though.. i feel a bit odd about just standing here, haha..”

— not only that.. but he’s apparently standing by your back door waiting for you to open it. lucky you.

Does Crosshair know Tech is dead?

I've been seeing posts of people being like "ooh how is Crosshair going to react to tech being dead??" and like fanarts and whatnot (which are absolutely devastating and beautiful) but like,,

Doesn't he already know?

Because I assumed he did.

Like,, I wouldn't be surprised considering we never got Echo doing/saying anything about Fives, so I can imagine all the grieving happened off-screen because I guess we can't really grieve in Star Wars or something,, idk whatever if any of it did happen.

At this point, Omega would've told him, wouldn't she? I can't image that she'd withhold that kind of information from Crosshair or be the kind of person to do something like that. Like, she's a kid and she's going to need to talk to someone about that shit and who better than Crosshair? I mean, that's her only option, but still! I'm sure she already told him one way or another, so I just assumed that he already knows Tech is gone.

Also Omega is always like "I gotta get back/get into contact with Wrecker and Hunter!" and Crosshair never questioned why she never mentioned Echo or Tech either.

On another note, the fact that,, Omega was only mentioning Hunter and Wrecker is devastating. I get why she doesn't mention Tech but the fact that she never mentions Echo?? How would she know that he left the squad? She wouldn't! Unless she just,, assumed he did because he left once before,, but still! It's fucked up.

Anyways, I'm going to assume Crosshair knows , and if he doesn't that's going to take me out and it's going to hurt like hell.

But, also if he does know and he has a moment where it like,, sinks in that Tech is gone while he's back with Wrecker and Hunter, I think that might hurt even more.

basically the whole thing with celestia having pink hair in the s1 ep1 storybook narration and s1 luna looking completely different from s2 onwards luna

a lot of people theorize that celestia using the elements of harmony permanently changed her mane colors and like. my brain fucking rotates around that so hard

once dream "consumes" the apple to keep it safe, i assume that it would permanently change his image along with turning him into an alicorn. standard alicorn transformation stuff and whatnot. he used to not have super light blonde streaks in his mane either but im assuming the pos apple coursed so much magic into his tiny body that it needed to settle in other places.

nightmare's horn also broke due to the magic of the neg apples consuming his tiny body as well, and just like @the-anxious-axolotl suggest, kind of like tempest! it MOSTLY works? though i think there would be sparks of magic that fluctuates, whether in huge bursts of powerful magic or almost non-existent wisps of magic, it would depend on how much negativity he's consumed it's kind of like a phantom limb to him, so he subconsciously forms magic around it so there's a permanent ghost of his complete horn

turning into an alicorn super duper young without any choice must've been incredibly traumatic for them, permanently changing EVERYTHING about them for the rest of their lives

i'm assuming you saw this post, right? are you talking about that specific guy? that's adzuki. idk if you're wanting headcanons about what i think about that boss or an oc lore dump. to me they're both, so that's what you're getting. it's gonna get long, get some popcorn.

in my splatoons world post-memverse runthrough, beans (my four) beg marina to let it out because he saw that it was sentient and wanted it to join his bf as a polycule. It's got a very similar level of kindness and whatnot to beans, but is extremely dry, blunt, and overall "emotionless" (not true, we'll get to that).

you see, i don't think parallel canon is 4, but merely a program made to mimic 4. Marina wanted one of the best in the NSS, so she asked Beans (instead of Ty, who was an elite, but then again, who got their ass handed to all those years ago again?) to offer up a brain scan to get a copy of that fighting skill of theirs for what would become the Parallel canons. Unfortunately, like with any technology, this wasn't perfect, especially with someone who was sanitized like how beans is. That scan ended up grabbing some other aspects of him, like a bit of his personality and, mainly, his fear of himself. He's gotten over it for the most part, at least that's what he thought anyways. When testing, fighting a perfect copy of yourself isn't going to pop up really at all, so this doesn't come up as an issue until Marina's released her little game for the sanitized to use, allowing the one freak scenario to arise.

The rogue code, formerly dormant, activates immediately when beans ends up confronting parallel canon. He's hesitant at first, but remembers it's not him, merely code made to look and fight like them. So, without much worry, he begins to charge at it for the fight, that code kicking in to overdrive and making it act the exact way beans would if it were the other way around. It retreats. It cries out, garbled, in supposed simulated fear. Beans stops in his tracks, staring down at the clone, only seeing his socked face staring back in the reflection of the mask.

This sparks a snowball effect of new programming being written without an author, a program learning, becoming sapient, alive. A scenario that forces one to confront something he wasn't fully ready for and another to realize what it is. Subsequent run attempts, the two keep learning about themselves and eachother in combat, regardless on if either of them like it, until eventually coming to a rather peaceful confrontation, a realization that neither want to hurt the other, and yadda yadda yadda something something long messy story short it's a reconnection with the self and learning to love oneself again. I don't want to get into detail here, I'm personally still torn on whether or not this exact part should be sfw or not, so, lol.

Regardless, it's still ultimately what the memverse was made for: helping the sanitized remember and become themselves again, and while it isn't an evil agent 4, what we got works way better with what I had already and it's just perfect.

As for adzuki itself, I'm not sure exactly the details on its anatomy when given the physical form outside of the memverse. I do want to stick to a very similar palette to what PC has in the memverse, as well as being made out of goo still, but does that mean it's a physical jelleton in the walking world? Don't know for sure yet. I'll work that out in time. Adzuki's voice is an AI recreation of Beans', sounding extremely similar, but obviously synthesized.

As for personality, Adzuki is a lot like beans in its ideals and bonds. However, due to being based off code not meant to emote or show tone, it struggles a lot in doing so, save for a few exceptions. It can only really express emotion through body language instead, and a lot of what it says is extremely clinical, blunt, and dry. Think Data from Star Trek. Of course, that doesn't mean it is emotionless, quite the opposite. Adzuki merely expresses emotions very differently than the regular inkfish. There's also a few ways to gauge how intense the emotion it's feeling is via how unstable the goo it's made out of is or by how bitcrushed its voice has gotten. Design notes and AU info under the cut since I yoinked PrairieClan out of existence

DESIGN NOTES

This is for an AU. She was born with the star marking and loses it once she fulfills her prophecy. I will tell what the prophecy is in the AU part.

Instead of the StarClan cats making huge decisions and whatnot, StarClan's influence lessens. They're also not called StarClan but referred to as Silverpelt's Clanmates. (Silverpelt is a goddess, inspired by ClanGen's mascot a lil!)

A less saturated red allows me and others to have a slightly more pleasant time looking at the design. (I should have made the lines a darker color.)

Heterochromia is a personal headcanon and something I may slap onto characters I like.

Mapleshade was described with snaggly teeth during The Place of No Stars, hence the fangs poking out.

Mane was described in Crookedstar's Promise.

Medium to high white which is reflected on her canon design. Posting it below, image belongs to the Warriors Wiki. (Apprentice sprite shows it better.)

I chose a more reddish color because of the Maple- prefix. Not sure what kind of tortie this would count as besides ClanGen-flavored.

This Maple's half-Clan, born to Stoatfur (a SkyClan cat from Cloudstar's Journey) and Pondfoot (a ThunderClan OC I made up for PrairieClan). She never got to meet Stoatfur, being born soon after SkyClan left. White spotting comes from both sides of the family.

AU INFO

TL;DR: Local goddess gets angry over SkyClan being forced out, has mortal cat help her in vengeance with VERY distressing methods.

As mentioned before, this Mapleshade is half-Clan. Born as soon as SkyClan left along with another kit, Thunderkit, she was raised by Pondfoot alone and never told the truth about her father.

She used to have a friendly rivalry with Appledusk, but as time grew she became mates with him in secret.

Birchface is aware of this, however. Being Mapleshade's best friend, he worked with her to act as if he's her mate and offered to claim any kits she has as his.

Unfortunately, he dies a few days before Mapleshade announces her kits. She gains Flowerpaw as an apprentice, having stopped her from drowning but being unable to save Birchface. (Frecklewish doesn't know about the fail.)

Due to this, everyone assumed that Mapleshade's kits were Birchface's.

It's found out that Mapleshade had kits with Appledusk, like in canon, and she- along with Birchkit (named after Birchface to keep up a facade), Patchkit, and Petalkit- are exiled.

Also like in canon, the river and exile from RiverClan events happen- but the kits don't die, they instead go missing.

Silverpelt (the cats' god) uses this to get her revenge on the Clans for chasing out SkyClan. She asks Birchface to tell her the truth, and after being shocked at learning it he decides that it's important enough to tell her.

Mapleshade gets pissed. Oakstar exiled her and her kits, Darkstar refused to help her find them, and all four Clans contributed to the loss of her father before she got to meet him. So she swears vengeance on all of the Clans instead of just one, and Silverpelt offers to help her get that vengeance. The Clans' punishment has just begun, and the goddess is livid with adrenaline.

The rest will be revealed in a fic.

This is Part 1, Part 2 will be more thoroughly discussing the alters outside of Fun Ghoul. This will be a more general overview of the system, what they go through, and and mostly just how Fun Ghoul kind of found out about the system

If ygs are interested, and would like me to do HCs on the other members systems (though I only really HC Fun Ghoul and The Girl as systems, I do like making up HCs for the other members), or have any thoughts, lmk!!

There's around 9 known alters, including Fun Ghoul. There's 1 persecutor (Dasher), 1 introject (Katty, short for Mousekat), 2 littles (Vanta Heart and Rosey Sun), 2 protectors ("Mag" and Coco), 1 caretaker (Mistress), 1 trauma holder (Flash Page), and then Fun Ghoul.

While the rest of the system has fronted before and some even made themselves known to others, Fun Ghoul was mostly unaware of the system for a long time.

The only reason Fun Ghoul manages to catch on a bit is because he has a camera he uses to record for projects or for future reference, and the alters in the system tend to record things on their own, ESPECIALLY the littles, but some of them forget to delete them afterward so Fun Ghoul doesn't find them. As you probably inferred, Fun Ghoul finds the recordings, and finds it really weird, so he investigates, and starts by asking Kobra Kid, as they both work on the trans am together, so he assumed he did those videos. After discussing, Fun Ghoul is confused to learn it was supposedly him that did those videos, and even went by names he never even heard of let alone considered as a name.

After a while of discussing with Kobra Kid on what's been happening, and what's wrong with them, with the little information they have, he decides to be honest and talk with the rest of the group about this. This was reacted to with a general consensus of shock.. but not for the reason he thought. Apparently, they were already aware of some of his alters, but thought he knew so that's why they didn't mention it. When learning of that, he's quite frankly more confused than the rest of his group. When questioned on how long it was like this, Party Poison explained he was always like that, even when they first found him.

Despite all of this, none of them really know the term for what he has, though Jet Star recalls hearing a condition that's similar to what's happening to him, but she can't put her tongue on what it was called.

For a few days after this reveal, Fun Ghoul was just in a constant state of shock. He didn't really talk to anyone and even if he did, it was very brief. He often stayed at their current shelter with The Girl as the others did supply runs and whatnot to just process what the hell happened, which everyone was understanding about.

While unaware of the trauma, Fun Ghoul feels intense fear and hatred whenever he sees the Director or even hears her mentioned, though he can't understand why. This fear also reaches to not only the pornodroids (to an extent anyway), but his own face. He often refuses to look in the mirror, because he's reminded of her, even if only faintly. (as he is the "child" of The Director, a clone, so he looks pretty similar to her)

Fun Ghoul gets nasty headaches, nearly got himself killed during a run in with the dracs because of them. In some of these headaches, he actively refuses to take off his mask, covers his ears tightly as he sits alone in a corner, pushing everyone away. The only person he occasionally allows to come close is Kobra Kid, very rarely The Girl.

I've read a lot of royalty fics where the people in power just always get what they want because they are royals and whatnot. But I like how you give them difficult choices and create consequences for them>:)

aaa thank you!! I thought I was done with royalty politics after watching stars, but I was watching house of the dragon while I was finishing stars so that kind of planted the seed in my head. then recently the final season of succession (my favorite show of all time) has been airing, and a fun way to describe it is game of thrones/house of the dragon but in a corporate business setting. so watching that also has brought me back into the idea of power plays and manipulation and all the fun stuff that comes with messy families and politics

that's the thing I wanted to do differently with this fic. I didn't want it to be your typical 'sbi are all royals' type thing, especially with wilbur being a royal. he's almost always the prince in royalty aus, and I just didn't wanna do that. I could go more into my inpso for phil and wilbur but I don't wanna ramble too much on your ask lol, I just wanted to do something different and thought an advisor kind of role (but in a different way than stars) was neat. so I decided niki would make a good royal instead!! I have so much fun (and by fun i mean painful) stuff planned for rainduo in this au you guys have no idea

The church bell rang again today

As it always has, the church in front of my apartment rings its bells every Sunday, without fail, at 9.45 am, for 5-7 minutes. Just the perfect duration to make a half boiled egg.

The church. It used to be so overcrowded, they built another church around one kilometre apart at the end of the 19th century. Nowadays, both of them doesn't even do weekly mass anymore. Seems like people would fall out of love for religion after the reality of 2 devastating wars hits in. I cant imagine the hopelessness those people felt, when the rock they stood on was unceremoniously swept away from under their feet.

But this is not a lesson about hopelessness. What caught me pondering was the guy ringing the bell. The church also rings at different hours of any other day, just a short ring, around 30 seconds.

I assume the guy must just be someone appointed by the catholic organisation, or whatever they call it, to maybe do the upkeep of the church and whatnot. Just another cog in the going-down-in-popularity-machine called catholicism. An honest man in the system, just doing his job, a symbolic job of what used to be the cornerstone of peoples life, nowadays only done for formalities. A function, stripped of its significance— shortly said, its useless

Nobody comes anymore to the church, the bell is just a noise polution at this point. The Germans are pretty stingy about noise on Sundays, and yet here they are, ringing their old bells again,

and now i wonder, how does he feel about his job. I used to be someone who thinks that everything needs to have its own purposes, its destiny, its contribution to the society. This job looked pretty useless to me, it lacks any real meaning nor purpose. I thought, if i was the man tasked to ring the bells, i wouldn't be happy with what i do— i wouldn't be content with my life.

The closest comparison might be the legend of Sisyphus. After 2 times eluding his fate to die, he was punished to roll a boulder to the top of the hill, and watch it rolls back down, endlessly. A completely, useless, destiny i must say. And yet here we are, in life, facing the same reality in one way or another.

Some of us maybe are said to have been lucky, to have found "find the meaning of the universe", to maybe work in their dream job, have a dream family, fulfill their destiny for the world.

And yet, i think those kinds of wishful thinking, the "expectations" of a perfect life and their understanding of it, potrayed in social media, in our society, is just a naive way to give purpose in this funny game we play called life. Its just religion 2.0, its there to give comfort, to justify that everything we do have its own meaning in the grand scheme of things, or to simply give that push to wake up in the morning and do our day-to-day duties. A sense of hope, the light at the end of the tunnel, whatever you want to call it. A normalized addiction.

At this point, you might think i would go all nihilistic to say that life is meaningless, and therefore theres no point in justifiying the meaning of what we do. I dont think its like that.

I do think theres a reason on why things are. Reasons, for why stars shine, why water flows, and why the world revolves. Yet, our understanding, or in this case our lack of understanding, underlines the puniness of human nature, how small and insignificant we are. These humbling factors, we need to acknowledge them first to understand, to realize our inability to parse the meaning of life.

Theres still a lot of things that we still dont know, a lot of things we need to sit on, discuss about, and figure out together something other than "42". This, gap, between our teeny tiny minds and the meaning itself, some people call it the absurd— the absurdity of life. Theres still a long way to go, and i dont think were gonna get the answer in our lifetime, at least not mine. Until i die, i wouldnt get the answer of why my coffee spilled this morning, or why i needed to get through a lot of hardships, too much so that it seems comical, that i think someone is voodooing me. I mean, i know why i spilled my coffee, thats because i tripped on my table, but i will never know the reasoning behind it, in the grand scheme of things.

To try to find the meaning of everything is to embark on an endless journey that often leads to more confusion than clarity, It is futile. It's more liberating to accept that some things might remain enigmatic, allowing us to appreciate life's mysteries without being weighed down by the relentless pursuit of meaning.

There are a lot of solutions for this "problem" we have, which is our nature to seek reasoning, and the overbearing non definitive meaning of life. Some seek to find their own meaning for themselves, some threw all reasons and morals out of the window. Some find comfort in accepting their insignificance and prefer to not live at all. None of them are wrong i must say.

For me, I think that I must try to confront the absurd, to not give in to the situations and conditions we are given, as we are free to do what we want, to be where we want to be, as long as you want to challenge life itself. This part, im still figuring out on what to say about it, its still a journey for me.

One must imagine that sisyphus is happy, that he's content with what he does fully knowing that what hes doing is absurd, for the struggle itself is enough to fill one man's heart. One must not question the reason, and just embrace the happy things in life, the lofty goals we make, the stupid obstacles we find, the sorrows we endure, to laugh, to learn, to love, and therefore to live. Life is absurd, and thats okay.

And therefore i conclude that the bell guy has a chance, and might have found happiness too in doing what he does. I hope he does.

To not be a slave of destiny is the way to live, and thats how i want my attitude on life to be. Its going to be my own adventure on challenging the absurd, and im going to define how it will be as much as i can. Obstacles are going to come and go, and theres no deeper meaning in it other than to learn from it and to embrace it —to embrace the absurd.

P- AU: Canary Tim - I’ll elaborate on this bc it is one of my aus and is kind of the reason that some of my second gen bat ocs exist so it’s kind of relevant.

First Black Canary - Dinah Drake. Married Larry Lance, daughter was Dinah Lance, who became the next Black Canary. Do you see where I’m going with this. Tim Drake. Dinah Drake. There’s a very weak connection there technically so I just made Dinah his aunt. Based off of Dinah Drake and Dinah Lance, we can assume the canary meta gene is hereditary, ergo we’ll just send it Tim’s way as well.

He won’t have his activated until his late teens though bc I want him to have atrocious voice control for a good while so he gets shipped off to train with Black Canary until he won’t accidentally deafen everyone around him.

From there, he’ll graduate Robin to become some kind of Songbird. It was originally going to be Galah (bc pink) but I changed it to Blackbird so his kids could call him B and it would be very emotional for Bruce to watch history repeat itself with the nickname and whatnot. Also this way tim gets to keep his red black and gold colour scheme.

that’s the au part but the part where my oc Jasper couldn’t really exist outside of this au is bc he’s a meta with a voice ability, that’s similar to the Canary meta gene but he’s not related to any of them. He’s Australian so he travels to America to look for Black Canary. He can’t find her, he keeps on missing her by like a handful of minutes or hours, but he does find Tim, and at this point he’s fed up of looking for Dinah and settles for the 19-year-old Blackbird in front of him. Neon would've wanted to put on the Star Dress... and maybe also use it to fight? I mean... Fantasy IS her strongest form but compared to the others, hers is still just a one buckle power up. If Bujin star dress has the same power as the original Bujin Sword, could she finally be able to get a taste of fighting using a twin buckle power up? Plus, the star dress was cute
