Over the Garden Wall + Russian Folklore inspires AU

I have some general ideas for this au. Basically it will be a two-part setting. Part one setting is referencing the Over the Garden Wall show. It's about Mila and Nika getting into the unknown and meeting Rose (somehow getting into the unknown too) on the journey of finding ways of getting back home.

The second part of the setting (there's a time skip) will focus on Daminika/gravebird and heavily inspired/referenced Russian Folklore, that's all I can tell before spoilers about how things will end up in the first part.

(I'm really excited about this au, although I don't know how much I can pull it off. This probably will be a long project that requires more thinking and research.)

Black brothers, Over the Garden Wall AU!

Ahhhh I have been so absorbed in this since I started writing it. I want to finish the fic before I begin posting, but I made some art to go along with and I was too excited not to share.

Takes place in November, 1976. Regulus is 15, Sirius is 17. The two have hardly spoken since Sirius ran away in July. One night, a less-than-favorable encounter on the Hogwarts grounds leads to even-less-favorable circumstances. Regulus and Sirius are stuck in the Forbidden Forest, or some parallel version of it...

It doesn't take place in the Unknown or engage with its citizens, but it does draw from the show a good amount.

More to come. And that's a rock fact.

AU loosely inspired by Over the Garden Wall

Arthur and Alfred venture into the woods and wind up separated, so Arthur tirelessly searches the unknown for some sign of his lost love until he comes upon a horrifying sight – Alfred's body trapped within the twisting confines of an edelwood tree.

Arthur tries to rip him free, but the wood will not budge. He even attempts to saw it away with a knife, but to no avail. The tree is indestructible, and some parts even seem to be merging with Alfred's skin.

Arthur doesn't want to leave without him, but the more time passes, the more encased in the tree Alfred becomes. His heartbeat can no longer be felt. Black oil begins to drip from the tree into Arthur's lantern, causing it to glow brightly, and Arthur decides to use that light to create a memorial for him. He becomes so engrossed in the activity that he doesn't notice the tree transform into a mysterious creature and loom over him curiously.

"Are you already planning to mourn someone who is not yet dead?"

Arthur whips around at the almost familiar voice and sees an almost familiar face. The being in front of him looks like Alfred, though his teeth are sharp and his eyes are unnerving. Much of his body is obscured in darkness, but long branch-like antlers protrude from his head and he certainly no longer appears to be human.

The Alfred-beast tells Arthur that he is a cursed, corrupted form of the man he once knew, and his true soul lies trapped inside the lantern. If Arthur wishes to preserve his original self, he must keep the lantern burning with the sap of other edelwood trees.

Little does Arthur know, the Alfred-beast is lying. The only thing in that lantern is the corrupting force that's taken a hold of him, and in order to free Alfred from the curse, Arthur must blow it out.

But he wouldn't dare do that, believing it would destroy what remains of Alfred.

Finally finished that fake cover I edited for my au!

I'm so happy with it!! I think it looks really cool and I'm very proud of it. The drawing of Jay and Tim I made fits surprisingly well I think!
