Does anyone else not like the way Damian is drawn in the new Batman and Robin comic ????

Like, after his solo Robin series, I just cannot look at him like that. He looks almost exactly like Jon.

Where is his tan skin ??? His green eyes ??? HIS HOOKED NOSE ???? They took away everything that made his design cool and interesting and new and pretty and also just like a huge part of his ethnicity.

It just bothers me so much like I want to read the comic bc it does seem pretty interesting but Damian’s design is making it soooooo hard. It extra sucks bc the art style is amazing. I actually love the way Bruce is drawn and also White Rabbit is super cool. Damian is just throwing me off so hard like that’s literally not him that’s Tim or Jon or Dick but that isn’t Damian Wayne/AL GHUL like tf look at this

THESE ARE NOT EVEN THE SAME FUCKING PEOPLE ???? It’s not even a difference in art style bc there was plenty of variations in art style in the Robin series but he still had his main features I mentioned earlier.

Idk call me a nitpicker or smth but this bothers me so much if it doesn’t change at some point I don’t think I will be able to read the new Batman and Robin series.

something i just realized about the “you were my robin” / “we were the best” little moments between dick and damian is that damian’s already fourteen by this point, it’s been so long since they had their batman-and-robin dynamic, but it was still such an important time in their lives!!! they keep bringing it up and i love it!!

Tim is only saying this because he's an annoying brother and he likes being that way. I have SEEN this unhinged king say, GOOD, I HOPE I PISSED STARFIRE THE FUCK OFF, SHE TRIED TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO like he thought he could win a fight against her and was absolutely down to start some shit. He only objects here because of the Big Brother Instinct to be the most killjoy he possibly can AND THAT MAKES IT HILARIOUS.

It took until Robin 2021 for Damian to actually feel safe and that everything was going to ve okay.

For him to realise that it wasn't his fault

He was still fighting to survive until he was 14.

this running gag of nika being a talia stan is soooo funny to me

especially when you consider that they’re pushing for talia to be slightly put-off by her.

(though, this phrasing is, in part, due to ubu’s growing resentment and irritation toward her presence).

so not only do we have bruce being skeptical of her (in typical bruce fashion, to be fair)

but we also have talia dealing with the ramifications of stan culture, AND ra’s & nika being quite literally attached at the hip

Why Respawn Should Have Never Existed

So firstly, I want to say that I love Respawn as a character. He was a total cinnamon roll and he was adorable. Damian's reaction to finding out about his brother was adorable too.

But unfortunately, his origin makes no sense and is a complete mess.

Williamson made his origin story as "Ra's al Ghul wants to make experiments on Damian but he couldn't do that to his heir so he creates a whole other baby to do experiments on him". And this just pisses me off.

Robin (2021) portrayed Ra's al Ghul in a positive light. He was a mentor to Damian when he needed it. He was worried about Damian's well-being and was just living a quiet, peaceful life on an island.

Yet, Respawn's whole existence just puts another check on Ra's al Ghul's evil doings list. He apparently, wanted to make twisted experiments so he took his daughter's DNA and combined it with one of the most evil and horrible person on earth: Deathstroke.

This makes no sense because:

1) Ra's al Ghul loves his daughter so much that he wouldn't use her in something like this.

2) Damian already has clones. If DC wanted Ra's to make experiments so badly, why he couldn't make them on Damian's clones?

But what most pisses me off is the heavy burden they put on Talia's shoulder.

Talia hates Slade Wilson. She despises him and DC forced her to have a child with him. In story, they just forced a very heavy responsibility on a woman's shoulders without her consent.

Respawn is Talia's child but she didn't have him consensually and that's so fucking messed up. And with Slade Wilson, the person who groomed, hurt and tried kill her son multiple times, of all people.

Just imagine what anyone would think. Your father takes your DNA to make a child with the person you hate the most. This is not something to take lightly. This is just another case of a woman being violated.

This unfortunately results in more hate on Al Ghuls and more importantly, on Talia. I've seen people hating on Talia because of Respawn.

"How could she not know his existence", "she was the one who made the bad thing on Respawn" (total lack of reading comprehension) blah blah blah

Talia deserves better than this shit. She has been dealing with this for decades. Just free her.

So even though I love Respawn, it is best that he is forgotten and never brought back.
