Aaaa this is my first time doing an ask game so I will do my best! Thank you for asking!! :0

7. Your otp has to spend some time apart for whatever reason. How would they bridge that time? How would they react upon seeing each other again? Would anything change?

So they probably spent a lot of time apart during the Inquisition because Baqir had to go out on missions and sometimes Dorian wouldn't come along (especially when it was too rainy or cold!)

During these times there wasn't much opportunity for them to communicate because of the constant travel. Baqir would collect and press herbs and flowers that he found along during missions to give to Dorian. He'd also just like throw himself into fighting and work in order to distract himself. Dorian would immerse himself in his research and go drinking with Sera and Bull to pass the time. They both are very avoidant lol.

Post Inquisition, they have the sending stones to keep in touch but I think they would also write very romantic (and mildly suggestive) letters to each other. I think when reuniting, Baqir would just be really relieved and Dorian would be worried that Baqir's feelings had changed (that whole port in a storm speech) but ultimately they'd just click together without feeling too much of a change.

...They also fuck nasty.

9. What annoys each member of your otp about the other? Do they tell them? Do they compromise/work it out? 

I think what annoys Dorian about Baqir is how secretive he is about himself and his past. Baqir's done a lot of shit as a spy in Tevinter (my hc for clan Lavellan is that they take in a lot of former city elves and half-elves and they like infiltrate Orlesian and Tevinter spheres of nobility and fuck shit up and free elven slaves and servants and initiate uprisings) and Baqir takes a very long time to share with Dorian about these things until absolutely necessary.

Baqir's survival used to hinge on his ability to keep things close to his chest but that isn't at all like a functional way to maintain a healthy relationship.

Ultimately Dorian confronts Baqir about it and they fight but things resolve afterwards with the agreement to be more open about their lives.

Baqir is irritated at first by Dorian's initial dismissiveness of elves in Tevinter but he doesn't really bring it up. Eventually with the discussion of Baqir's secretiveness and when things come up about his history Dorian feels guilty and takes time to educate himself.

19. Is the approval of family and friends important to your otp? If so, how would they try to win over a skeptical in-law? Would they cut people off if they didn't approve of the relationship?

Baqir doesn't care about the approval of his advisors or his clan, but he really cares about what his daughter, Rahat, thinks of Dorian. He goes out of his way to introduce Dorian to his daughter and try to set up time for them to spend time as a group and become acquainted. The good news is Rahat and Dorian get a long swimmingly (both being mages and total nerds) and sometimes Baqir ends up almost third-wheeling lol. His friends (Varric, Bull, Cassandra, Cole) approve but Baqir sort of just took that as given.

Dorian I think tries to convince himself that he doesn't care what his family thinks about their relationship but deep down he still has that internalized homophobia that he tries to work through. His parents don't approve of their relationship at all and even though he and his father reconciled, he limited their communication. Later on when he returns to Tevinter, he flaunts their relationship very proudly (partially with the intent to upset his mother).

Dorian also was super scared that Rahat wouldn't like him (because he remembers being a teenager and cranky as hell) and is incredibly happy when she accepts him and involves him in her hijinks.

2. Why do you write fanfiction?

at first, it was because i was thinking about a very particular interaction b/w two characters (from stranger things) and a thought came to mind: "what if you wrote about it?" and i was like. no way would i ever write fanfiction! But then one day i got bored and wrote it and published it and it was THRILLING. and now i write it because i love writing abt my OTP bkdk and i love putting them in situations together ahaha

22. Do you listen to anything while you write?

i neeed music to write! for some fics i listen to the playlist i make for it, but for fics w/o specific playlists i usually just play my bkdk one.

Ikora/Eris and Toland/Eris

Ikora/Eris

BEAUTIFUL, EFFERVESCENT, I feel like my own takes on Ikoris are a little sharper than most - I'm fascinated by the push-and-pull of their dynamic, with Ikora as leader of a spy ring and Eris her best spy, the danger and tension inherent to it, but also comfort and protection. I think there's also fun that can be had with pre-Hellmouth Ikora/Eris that a lot of people (myself included) are sleeping on; I'd like to revisit them in the Great Hunt, for instance.

I usually don't root for ships to be canonized (I like multishipping way too much and would rather have a lot of flirty interactions I could ready any way I fancy) but honestly their chemistry is bonkers. If either of them were to end up with somebody, I'd want it to be each other.

Eris/Toland

My other Eris OTP (said like I haven't got 4 or 5 of them); goth nerd witch-4-witch pairing that scratches hard-to-articulate (if I wanted to articulate them at all) itches about body dysphoria, liminality, mortality, gender, becoming something alien and becoming like each other and the recognition of the other in the self. It has it all: betrayal, loyalty, respect, survival, giving each other room and freedom to be their best|worst selves, and bone, chitin, blood and ichor everywhere. It very much appeals to my Gothique Melodramatics sensibilities.

Like Ikoris, I'm of two minds about exploring it as a pre-or-post Hellmouth Incident thing. I'm also intrigued by alternate timeline stuff in the Dark Future AU.

As far as platonic pairings go, Theotar and Pelagos being friends, Lady Moonberry and Theotar being friends. I want to see Theotar in his corner sharing tea with both of them, just talking and laughing.

I love Vole x Maw Walker friendships, too.

I like the idea of Draven, Adrestes, Alexandros, and Korayn being complete military nerds together during Ember Courts (even if you can't invite them all at once, which is a sin). Like the Maw Walker and Theotar go over to tell them they are being antisocial by sticking to their little corner, and they are just completely nerding out about different battle strategies to the point that whoever came to draw them out can't bear to drag them away.

Then there's Liila x Adrestes and Pelodis x Maw Walker (that I will probably never write about, but I love him so much). And Clora x Sophone. <3 And Pallessa x Achillon. I love all of them.

Honestly, Tumblr Batman. I know it's not a 'real' source, but it's my favorite Batman ever.

But I think I prefer video games as a general source text. I like that you can unlock lore and whatnot by exploring and paying attention, by eavesdropping on little side character conversations and finding obscure items with interesting descriptions.

That's how I know the dredgers believe in reincarnation, despite not having souls, and that apparently a dredger's natural state is to be rotting.

J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)

Omg so many. Homestuck, Steven Universe, Owl House to name a few. The ones I've actually gotten into were What We Do In The Shadows and Spy x Family.

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

My random thing got The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks, but the nearest I could get any vibes for was Devos with that one, even though that doesn't make much sense? I mean, she did feel betrayed by the Archon, though it wasn't in a romantic way, and in the 3rd verse (which is surprisingly hard to find on youtube), the wife commits murder, which Devos very much tried to do, so. Also, I like associating Devos with thunder.

V - Which character do you relate to most?

I've made joke posts, but Adrestes having to be told to go have fun and being a bit of a serious stick in the mud is Very Relatable™

Also Pelagos wanting to do things right and progress, but still fucking stuff up, but also being capable in his own way--something that others don't necessarily see--is something I can relate to a LOT.

And then there's Cullen Rutherford from DA. Him knowing he needs to deal with his trauma and wanting to do better, despite not being quite there really meant a lot to me, especially when DAI came out, because I was at that point in my own trauma, wanting to be better but not quite knowing how to get past the fears.

Jasati - JK. My main girl. Theron x Jas OTP forever and ever. The reluctant Commander who went through a real depressive out of her mind phase during the whole losing five years and getting possessed (again) by the Emperor time period. Probably retired and living somewhere on Odessen.

Aqilah - Barsen'thor; I go back and forth if she exists in the same universe as Jas. She romanced Arcann, but I really miss Felix. She's a bookish nerd who, if she were Commander, would take the throne because no one else can be trusted to just chill the fuck out and be peaceful. She's got those healy hands so when Arcann wanted to spar with swords for their date she was kind of weirded out tbh.

Ruest - Baby boy Ru-Ru, my love. Poor, sad, little Cipher Nine. He loves Watcher 2, like, probably was a little out of pocket, workplace harassment, slightly stalker in love with Watcher 2. He lives in the same universe as Jas and was recruited into the Alliance by Lana. I think eventually he found Watcher 2 and they got married and had babies, at least that's how he thinks it's going to go.

Te'Jal - TJ is Ruest's sister. She's Pirate Queen of Port Nowhere. She'll help out the Alliance, for a price, though she's quite content to sit on her mountains of credits. TJ and Jas are buddies! Don't know how they met or why they're so close, but they're lovely together.

Sao'la - My sweet little Sith. Precious mouse. She exists in her own universe because she's just occupies too much space in my brain right now to share it with anyone. She's not the Commander. She did her thing in the sith warrior story and then kind of fucked off until Arcann showed up. She never made Darth. She's just too good and everyone kind of realizes she's not really Sith material! But she's a fucking badass and fights for the Empire and her family is super rich so whatever she's the main character. She loved Quinn fiercely, but I dunno, I don't things ever really recovered after The Incident and then after Another Incident. She found Theron (or Theron found her) and they had a thing that wasn't supposed to be serious, but then it kind of was?

Hat Yai - He's a Chiss bounty hunter named after food. There wasn't a whole lot going on but then I bought him a cool Mando outfit and he and Mako are just so adorable together. He tries really hard to be a good guy for her, but man the bounty hunting thing is a rough business. He's still chugging through the main story, but I don't think he's Commander material. Probably like TJ, he just sits on his piles of credits and does jobs for whoever pays.

Pekk - Ok so Pekk is still in the molding phase. She started out as a Cathar named after my cat to romance Jorgen, but then I got so many amazing flirts and conversations with Jonas that now I have this whole Cadet on temporary duty with the SIS and a little summer love affair with Jonas and then they meet again after she's in Havoc story rotating in my brain. I also really love how every conversation with Jorgan about the Deadeyes is "oh, we could ask Jonas!" and he's just like "UUGGGGHHH You and your stupid spy boyfriend." Pekk literally only exists in this very small time frame lol.

Jebamee - Darth Noxxxxx the wretched. Cruel squid head. She's just there to pick the absolute worst option. I skipped as far as I could with her after the main inquisitor story was over so she's not the Commander. She was probably hanging out on DK and Nar Shaddaaa subjugating people and running her little cult. She had the romance with the pirate, but Darth Rivix has piqued her interest now! (Sao'la HATES Rivix. She's so annoyed by him just being around.)

Oscasito - Man slut smuggler. He will always pick the easy way out, especially if it ends up with more dollary doos. Does he love Risha? Maybe? He REALLY loves that she's a Princess. Really doesn't understand why she just doesn't marry the guy that wants to make her Queen, they can still be fuck buddies. Hell, King guy can join in! My man is not picky.

Chuck Fic Rec List: Updated

So my fic rec post was in my notifs again the other day, and I noticed a while back that the formatting on the post has gotten all messed up and it’s also had like three reblog additions to it anyway meaning there are three versions out there lol. so, I wanted to do another list of chuck fic recs! I’ll keep the other one up still, so I’m not gonna repeat every fic here, just some I really recommend. I’m also adding the fic summaries, which I didn’t on the old post, and some more of my own opinions so, buckle up for a long post!

Chuck Versus the Steampunk Chronicles | Steampunk.Chuckster

1896. A world powered by steam, where humans and machines coexist, and airships are the fashionable mode of transport. The US Empire's deepest and darkest secrets arrive at Chuck Bartowski's doorstep. Have they fallen into the wrong hands? A genuinely incredible AU story, with an entire crafted world and universe, so detailed it frequently blows my mind. There is heart and family and infuriatingly brilliant slow-burn, plus a buttload of danger and super fun historical/steampunk action. Oh how I LOVE it.

Chuck vs the Charade | somedeepmystery

When computer nerd Chuck Bartowski returns home to an empty apartment and a dead girlfriend he finds himself embroiled in a deadly game of espionage and deceit. Everyone around him is playing a part to get what they want and when he starts falling for the new woman in his life, he can't help but wonder if he can trust her or if she's the one he should fear the most.

An action and twist-filled AU based on the movie Charade, which is just such a brilliant fic concept I absolutely adored it from the start.

Two Sides of the Same Coin | dettiot

When you're a spy, there's all kinds of occupational hazards when you work with another spy. For Sarah Walker, though, one mission becomes a life-changing experience. Because working with Charles Carmichael leads to protecting Chuck Bartowski.

The first time I read this fic my mind was just blown to its genius. Such a brilliant interpretation of what the Intersect and its concepts set up in the show could be, and ooooof the Chuck/Sarah interactions, my HEART. Related to it, its companion piece:

I said it on the OG post, but this story has one of my top 5 Chuck/Sarah fic meetings. So funny, so... very Chuck. The story is a little angsty overall, but a great read.

Chuck vs the Rogue Spy | Crumby

When a rogue spy from Chuck Bartowski's past shows up to help him during his first solo mission, Chuck hopes that he'll finally find out what happened to Sarah Walker. Post-S2 AU.

There’s a lot of Season 3 fix-it fics out there, which I don’t usually read bc I actually love season 3 lol, but this one’s a good one! A twisty deviation from canon, but still feels really true to character.

Chuck Versus the Nerds Rewrite | Steampunk.Chuckster and David Carner

What happens when two nerds talk endless hours about their favorite TV show? A new take on the show you know, but with the flair, twists, and turns you've come to expect from Steampunk . Chuckster and david . carner. Somewhat canon. Charah.

As the summary says, a different take on the show, which honestly makes a couple changes I would too, but also adds a bunch of fun twists and plots that make it totally new and fresh. Seeing Chuck and Sarah’s thoughts in the more canon sections is just delicious, too.

The Trapped Assassin | SarahsSupplyCloset

After a mission goes awry, the CIA's most lethal assassin is ordered to take vacation while her superiors figure out what to do with her. But when she meets a disarming tourist, their immediate connection only adds to her disillusionment with the agency and her career. Will he be enough for her to finally take the plunge and leave the only life she's ever known? Charah AU

A warning for the very justified M rating if you don’t like that sort of thing, but this is definitely a plot-heavy fic, too. A really neat Sarah-heavy AU, with a whole lotta Chuck/Sarah fancy French vacationy goodness.

Chuck vs the Second Chance | malamoo

AU from mid-season 2 and onwards. Chuck and Sarah part ways only to be reunited years later. COMPLETE.

Literal, crying-at-my-screen angst. Not even a super happy ending. But a brilliantly written, part-reflective/flashback fic, exploring what would’ve happened if Chuck and Sarah’s relationship really was an assignment all along-- and the aftermath. It’s heartbreaking. But if you want a little heartbreak, this is your fic.

Ready at Your Hand | dettiot

In the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, a Catholic plot against the queen comes to the attention of spymaster Sir Francis Walsingham. To protect Elizabeth, he develops an unusual plan: hide the passing of intelligence between two agents by a false romance. When Lady Sarah Walker and Chuck Carmichael meet, though, their pretend flirtation becomes much more.

I love Chuck fic for the very reason that it’s inspired such adventurous and totally unique AUs. Here’s some Elizabethan fake-dating Chuck and Sarah! They have to be so Proper, it’s like that hand moment from Pride and Prejudice but Elizabethan and times a billion. The pining!!

Sarah Versus Getting Married | Steampunk.Chuckster

Sarah Walker is getting married. Canon. Charah.

I’d recommend all of SC’s fics if I had the room, and I’m already recommending a ton sksks but most of my fic recs are AUs, and this one isn’t! It’s canon, and covers some of in the gap in 4x24, with Sarah just before the wedding itself. Super sweet, heart-tugging, brilliant.

A Chuckmas Carol | Mikki13

A new twist to Dickens' beloved "A Christmas Carol". When Sarah begins to shut out the world around her, three spirits come to show her the error of her ways. Season 3 AU.

Another Season 3 AU, this one written pre-series so it definitely doesn’t fit to canon, but it’s still wonderfully rich in character depth and angst and it also made me cry. Plus, festive!

Chuck Versus Thin Ice | Steampunk.Chuckster

On the doorstep of the Olympics, top American curler Sarah Walker has lost her mixed doubles partner and her boyfriend in one fell swoop. Her coaches throw newbie Team U.S.A. curler Chuck Bartowski onto her team and thrust them into the Olympics, hanging America's curling hopes on two people who only have a short amount of time to learn to trust one another. Charah AU.

Do you like curling? Or the Winter Olympics? It doesn’t really matter because somehow this fic made me extremely invested in both of those things, as well as Chuck and Sarah and them being INSUFFERABLE. Catch me now knowing a ton about curling thanks to this fic.

Set, Spike, Dive! | Frea O’Scanlin

Chuck never expected to even make it to the Olympics. Everything is working against him: he's too tall for a diver, too inexperienced for a medal, too much of a wildcard to really make his mark. David’s done something pretty special with this fic. It’s Chuck and Sarah centric, but very much an ensemble piece, too, with a lot of Team Bartowski and other familiar faces throughout.

This is where I freak out SC and declare this fic the reason I ever got hooked on Chuck fic and then wrote Chuck fic, and the reason I still love it today but. that is true lol. Just so. so good. It’s also written with the chapters out of chronological order, which is super fun from a reading perspective. But con!Sarah AND con!Chuck?? Best. The kind of fic you will be thinking about for days (if not, y’know, years).

As you can tell by the repeats, I highly recommend just about anything by Steampunk.Chuckster, dettiot, or David Carner, but there are a TON of amazing Chuck fics and authors out there. I’ve never known a writing community so wildly creative-- there are so many unique AUs and canon explorations and story concepts that this show has manifested, and it’s all so much fun.

Most of the Chuck fic community is still over on FFN rather than AO3, so if any of these whet your appetite, feel free to have a browse there for more stories. I’m sure you’ll find something great. Personally, all the incredible writing there has also led me to write a buttload; I’m at halfachance on FFN, so if you see any of my stuff or wanna chat fic, feel free to message me there or here.

What are all the tf2 ships you ship and how much do you like each one? (Also, which ones do you hate?)

Aight Happy Valentine’s everyone! I’ll give ya my Thots ps: I’m not really a multishipper but I enjoy most of them neutrally :) Ships I actually ship:  - Heavy/medic: ‘OTP’, the go-to, the og. While I don’t draw it much, it’s definitely the pairing I feel the most, and is just perfect. I mean, they’re quite literally built around one another as characters. They’re love is genuine I feel it in my bones. Big tough exterior soft interior smart bear meets his chaotic dom wolf of a bitch who needs bear for impulse control <333 Fave ship - Engie/spy: More of a recent love of mine BUT AHH I’m so deep. They have such a fun and sassy dynamic, and I love opposites attract pfff. The idea of a stuck up Frenchman falling for an American Texan is just gold material all around. They’re both dads too, who are witty and have vastly different styles and even personalities, but man do they mesh well. 2nd Fave ship - Demo/sniper: Swordvan is just...good. Kind of a comfort ship really. Both characters have way more in common than people think, and I love the dynamic they’ve had in the comics! Just let the adopted traumatized nerds have fun and have some laughs with one another! If not romantic, I LOOVE them as buddies too!

- Target Practice: My own ship ofc! I won’t go in depth here since I’ve been posting art everyday, but seeker and sniper have a super tight friendship and their dynamic just....ah. Tis good. Two bisexual idiots explore the world together <333 Ships I like but don’t necessarily ship:

- Soldier/Spy: The funniest shit ever, and also surprisingly cute

- Engie/Sniper: Also quite cute, drinking buddies gone romantic! Really like them more as friends tho

- Sniper/Spy: I know it’s a fandom fave but I just like them as rivals with benefits or just friends. Lots of good content for pair tho

- Soldier/Engie: Helmet party is also cute, but I don’t really see the romantic appeal personally! As always, I love them as friends

- Soldier/Demo: I like these two as best friends so much, that personally I think shipping them kinda takes away from it tbh? Boots n Bombs is valid but these bros are just the best homies.

Ships I hate/just don’t like:

- Sniper/Sc.out: Nothing against ppl who like this ship, I just personally can’t stand it. Lots of bad experiences with it, and I just despise it lol. Won’t go into detail for politeness sake, but yeah miss me with this one, let them just be friends. - Spy/Scout: fuck you

- Scout/Me.dic: Not like...illegal but the difference in powers (and age) just really rubs me the wrong way. Feels predatory, and is often portrayed as such. Same for Scout/heavy or soldier or whatever. He’s baby

- Actually just scout x anyone other than ocs: He’s baby he’s team son I just like him to stay that way : )

- Pyro/anyone: Don’t hate these ships at all, but I see Pyro as aromantic/asexual, and someone who could care less about romance and more about fire :) texas toast is the cuter one tho

- Miss Pauling/ Any Man: Please let her be a lesbian stop erasing her lesbian identity I’m so tired guys.

How I feel about this character

I love her a lot. She is, by far, my favorite OC and has the richest, most vibrant backstory and personality. She is the character that occupies most of my daydreaming and who I know better than any other. I have spent much time hating and adoring her in equal measure. 

All the people I ship romantically with this character

okay listen this is my big secret but Maria is very shippable. I could see her happy with MANY people. 

Varric Tethras - obviously. I think he is Maria’s soulmate. I was just joking that Varric has a type, and Maria is very much that type. He’s intrigued by her penchant for dangerous heroics, her jokes, her intelligence, her beauty, and is enthralled with the softer vulnerability she shows with him. He sees through her bullshit, knows when she’s fraying at the edges, and she sees through all his nonsense to who he is under the chest hair. They can’t hide from each other, no matter how they try, and it’s beautiful. 

Solas - okay listen. Deep down, they’re actually both nerds. Big nerds. I also think he admires her ability to be what the world needs her to be, even though she’s happier in the quiet silence of a small group. I also think it breaks his heart to see Maria become the Inquisitor, KNOWING he made her this way and she would have been so much happier if she’d never been. 

Solas/Varric/Maria - I’M NOT TAKING COMMENTS THIS IS WHO I AM NOW 

Cole - Maria is an abuse survivor. cole is sweet, gentle, and patient. He would NEVER hurt her and would know, intrinsically, what he can and can’t do in their relationship. There’s something enchanting about that fantasy. 

Iron Bull - actually when I did Maria’s playthrough of DAI this was her romance interest. They’ve got the same vibes as Maria and Varric, but less convoluted bullshit which is hysterical because he’s a spy. 

Cassandra - there’s a universe where they’re both each other’s first girlfriend and it’s adorable. they’ve got the rivals-to-lovers vibe I adore. Criminal meets do-gooder? be still my heart. 

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Blackwall - Maria’s father was Not Great in GwtAT and most AUs. I’ve written it that Blackwall and Maria have a spark of physical attraction, but it’s quickly snuffed out and he fulfils a bit of that father-figure/older brother role for her. It’s very sweet. 

My unpopular opinion about this character

Her writer is a hack. >.> 

A real unpopular opinion, for all DAI protags, is that I think it’s very important that the Inquisitor’s arm is not magically fixed post-Trespasser. Maria never gets a fancy prosthetic made by Bianca, she never gets a magic fade arm. She lost her arm to the anchor - and that’s how it stays. I think it’s super disrespectful to “fix” a disabled inquisitor, as a disabled person myself, and it’s one of my pet peeves in all forms of media (not just fanfiction). 

I want to see our DAI protags continuing to kick ass with one arm in DA4 an beyond. They definitely still can. 

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

7. What’s the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?

Well when they first realise they have feelings for each other Elyan freaks out and Lancelot represses it 🤣 Eventually when repressing stops working (did it ever work?) Lancelot romantic that he is starts leaving little gifts for Elyan like a lil pastry or the book he was talking about trying to find in the library. Elyan, overthinking nerd that he is goes to Gwen like hlep I have a stalker and Gwen's like no bro someone's hitting on you. So Elyan starts spiralling as to who it might be (Gwen stares into the camera like she's on the office bc Lance has been making heart eyes at Elyan for weeks now and finally worked up the courage to ask her permission to court Elyan but for some fucking reason decided to do it in secret bc ofc nothing is ever straightforward in Camelot). He finally works it out after some light spying with Gwaine who knew already but didn't want to miss the show and promptly freaks out again bc oh god oh fuck it's him I really like him. Gwen and Gwaine conspire with Merlin to lock them in a cupboard together, Elyan confronts Lance about it bc he just can't take it any more, Lance is confused bc he thought it was obvious who the gifts were from, Elyan is just like what the fuck but simplifies matters by saying you idiot and kissing him. Things go smoothly from there :')

8. Nicknames? & if so, how did they originate?

Ik it's cliché but i am such a sucker for 'love'. Also 'stubborn bastard' said in a fondly exasperated tone, bc they are both exceedingly stubborn bastards :')
