" 'Was that your dream too?' Shirley asked, her tone faintly condescending. * 'Make a note of it, Lily, for the report.'

[Kathleen] 'No, my dream when I was a child was to be Amelia Earhart. But going to the moon is a great dream.'

'Have you ever been in an airplane?' Lily asked.

'Yep. When I was in the eighth grade my Wing Scout troop got to fly. We weren't up there for very long - we had to take turns - but it was amazing.' Kathleen's face lit up when she talked about the flight.

'What was it like?' Lily asked. 'Was it scary?'

Kathleen smiled. 'A little at first, but as soon as we left the ground I wasn't scared anymore. There was too much to look at.'

Lily was about to ask more - she wanted to know all about the flight - but Shirley said 'Let's move on....' "

I think one of the main reasons plants are so popular in this generation is because of the calm and happiness they bring. So many people talk about their depressions and dark times they are going through and coming home to a house full of plants just add color and joy to my life. Being able to watch something grow and thrive even though there is so much negativity and hate. I think it give hope to people.

do you ever wanna speak up about an important issue? because i do, but i’m sick of hearing:

“you’re 14 so you don’t know enough, you’re a child.”

“why do you know these kind of things?”

but then proceed to say that teenagers don’t talk enough about important topics. ignorant little shit.

like, i love having deep conversations, i don’t care what you’re talking about. but i’m scared to start talking about certain topics, because ‘it isn’t something i should know’. well, you know what? how about i talk about it, and people actually start caring about a certain topic, like depression, lgbt, our screwed up school system, to just name a few.

we go to school, and stress ourselfs out to the point where we don’t do anything anymore that we like to do. all i do is homework. i am too scared to learn a new hobby, scared of screwing up, scared of being judged. in my mind, it’s only school.

in my dreams, school.

when i wake up, school.

when i come home, school.

when i go to bed, school.

but why? good grades are more important these days than actually learning something. i loved learning, until i got so busy and caught up in my mind, that all the fun was gone.

is that what we live for? going to school, get good grades, find a job, work until we can’t no more and then we die? i don’t want to be a machine of this world. i don’t want to be a robot. i have feelings. everyone has feelings. if you read this, you have an opinion about this. you may agree, or disagree. and that’s okay!
