I was diagnosed with high function Autism in 2011 they told me it's level 2 that aspergers is level 1 . So it made me really insecure as a kid growing up . I need support and I don't get it I struggled in my teen years with mental illness and trauma . My Autistic friends were diagnosed as low functioning Autism as kids now as adults they can do stuff for themselves. I honestly hate the labels so much as a kid I was jealous of my aspergers cousin because I wanted that label that diagnosis. Thank you so much for making this podcast .

I have story for you so I'm Autistic and I was diagnosed with Autism when aspergers was still a thing . So my Autistic guy friend said something really offensive in front of my other Autistic friend. He said " I have aspergers I AM NOT AUTISTIC I DO NOT WANT BE ASSOCIATED WITH PEOPLE LIKE [ my friend name she has high support needs ] "

I called him out " aspergers is a nazi term " he knows that he said " I IDENTIFIED AS ASPERGERS " like dude that's so mean .

I am so fucking ashamed to be part of this community AHHHHH
