Cernunnos Devotional Beads (SOLD)

This set of unique devotional beads was ritually crafted and consecrated in the name of Cernunnos—Horned God of Celtic antiquity.

It was constructed from beads of Moss Agate (a stone strongly associated with the Wilderness), along with counter beads of scavenged Serpent Vertebrae (serpents being a greatly sacred animal to Cernunnos), which are bracketed with small beads of Jasperized Wood (beautifully embodying an amalgam of botanical and chthonic virtues.) On one end of the garland is secured an Arrowhead Pendant, hand-carved from Stag Antler (a potent token of his roles as Horned Lord and Master of the Wild Hunt). On the other end is secured a hand-forged Steel Pendant (chosen for the magical potency of/ancient reverence for Iron, as well as the piece's resemblance to both a coiled serpent and the coiled germ of a seedling preparing to sprout.) Once the Garland was constructed, the piece was hallowed in a sylvan ritual beneath the light of a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse.

It is traditionally celebrated on August 1st (in the northern hemisphere) or halfway between the summer solstice and the fall equinox.

another updated altar photo! i managed to get my Lord Zeus statue back on my tiny, tiny shelf and i’m so happy that i lit two blue candles for Him. i also took off my spirit board because she needs rest from being the foundation of so much energy. i added my greek alphabet oracle stones and my runes. i also added my stack of tarot that i draw my daily card from so i always spend time with my altar everyday. it’s nice having all of my divination methods on my altar now (pelduim, oracle, tarot, and runes) and im excited i’ll be able to spend yule without worrying about school since classes end two weeks before the 21st!

BERKANA woodcut print rune deck hand made by PJ Superior features each of the 24 Elder Futhark runes (plus a ”Wyrd” card) carved by hand into birch wood and printed in a hand cranked barrel press. (The backs printed with a spoon.) Along with the rune symbols, each associated Norse word along with a simple, deeply meaningful illustrative border is carved into the wood from which these cards are printed. The Norse rune symbols are still the main visual focus.

The woodcut print method used to create this hand crafted set of cards ensures that the wood carving typical of the most ancient sets of casting runes is still present in this contemporary deck.

I call this rune deck BERKANA after the 18th rune in the Elder Futhark alphabet, because it means “birch” which is the same type of wood used for the carving of this deck. In runic divination, Berkana represents growth, renewal, and hope.

A home made guide booklet, sewn by hand, is included to share interpretations for divination. The guidebook includes cultural background and history of the Elder Futhark runes, as well as insights into the inspirations and meanings of the artistic imagery accompanying each symbol.

Listen. There's nothing wrong with buying your tools. There's nothing wrong with not using tools. I personally think we should all learn how to work magic without tools first.

But. There is something to be said about witches who make their own tools with nothing but sheer audacity as credentials. Never used power tools before? No problem! That wood burner dangerously close to your skin? You'll be fine. The prefect stick buried in brambles? That's what band-aids are for! Want to hand make a book of shadows? Now you're a book binder! You'll figure it out.

Hawthorn Root & Willow Shaft Wand — Custom Commission

This is a wand that I was custom-commisioned to craft on behalf of a client recently, using both Hawthorn wood and Willow wood. I share it here now, as an example of the sort of work I offer.

After locating and harvesting a suitable length of White Willow from the banks of the river that feeds our land, I then harvested a segment of root-wood from a dead Hawthorn tree I have access to. Next, I went about debarking, drying, shaping, and smoothing the two specimens of wood, before lightly staining the Hawthorn with an herbal pigment and then carving out part of the root-wood's core to allow for the insertion of the Willow shaft. Once that was done, I proceeded to permanently affix the two segments using a cold-welding epoxy and then sealed the whole piece using my Wisefool's Glaze (a ritually empowered wood varnish made using an array of potent arboreal resins.)

Though it was my first time crafting a wand in this way—using two different kinds of woods—I'm quite pleased with the ultimate result, and I believe it will serve my client well in the years to come.

I continue to take on commissions for a wide variety of Craft implements, and I am always honored and happy to be given such an opportunity. I had a dream where I was in a witch's cottage and in the kitchen she had an iron rack for wooden spoons. Like this but with a pentagram in the center:

And above each hook was a little sign with things like "love", "healing", and "strength". The spoons were enchanted for those purposes and hung on their respective hooks for easy access while cooking.

And I think that's just such a cool idea.... Now to find or make a rack.
