nanami: nanami always knew he would get married to you. but when he heard the word ‘husband’ coming from your lips he still blushes. nanami isn't one to express himself much but he finds himself doing so around you. he'd fix his tie and then mess with his glasses and when inquired about his behaviour he gently caresses your hands, imagining the band of metal to grace your finger that he'd get you soon. “i’m glad we're on the same page about our future”

choso: “husband? are you sure?” you knew what he'd meant by this. he's a half curse and that fact always bothered him but not you. you'd tell him that you didn't care about anything of that sort and he'd cry. choso is a very fragile person and very emotional in contrast to the stoic appearance he has. you adored that part of him so much. “hell we're not even married yet and i’m already crying this much” he'd say between sniffles as you rub his back comfortingly.

toji: you were skeptical about doing this prank on him because he's been married and it was a heavy topic. you did not want to remind him or yourself of it but your curiosity got the better of you and you decided to slip it out anyway. silence followed and your heart sank. you look away and scolded yourself mentally for this. hearing him shift you expected him to walk out but he didn't. he pulls you into an embrace and whispers a bunch of i love yous into your ears. he wasn't a good person particularly but a good husband? he was sure as hell he'd try his hardest for you.

sukuna: “what was that?” you'd hesitate to repeat yourself but his authorative voice would make you do whatever he says. “... my husband” you'd stutter and he'd shake his head. “say that with more pride, i’d like my queen to actually like being my queen”. upon being reminded that this wasn't the heian era anymore he'd speak of the prestige he'd use to have and the privileges that come along with it. you'd be annoyed and tell him to return and fool around with his numerous concubines before storming off. he'd however, would stop you and drag you back “i wasn't done. all that prestige could not compare to a lifetime with you. you'll be my queen, heian era or not.”

ok so sandmans lead guitar, shocker is rhythm guitar and also electric banjo when the vibe fits and vocals (baritone/tenor range), electro plays bass (can play guitar but mains bass) and vocals (baritone with particularly good low growly notes), vulture gets the keys and can sing but doesn't do much aside from some backup here and there for the whole group (baritone/tenor but like, softer, good falsetto), rhinos drums and vocals (bass), and ock gets the mother fucking theremin he does also swap out for keys tho (but he's mostly a classical piano type)

their style is very all over the place but stick mostly to rock and similar feeling genres. each song tends to feel a bit more like one persons style in particular. they swap around vocals depending on the vibe with the more growly, heavy metal, screaming type vocals going to electro and rhino while shocker and vulture are more traditional ig with their singing. ock does most the composing and vulture majority of the lyric writing. they're in a constant state of breaking up, getting back together, and rearranging members

spider-band! ok so peter of guitar and vocals (tenor, he's the front man), gwen on drums and vocals (mezzo-soprano), and harry plays keys (cause cmon no way he wasn't required to take piano lessons or smth) and will do some backup vocals but like he's not a singer and he knows it. mj joins later on and plays bass, she joins in on the backup vocals (alto) when with the band but does have an insane voice, she does do plenty of solo work tho.

mysterio plays like, everything. but is most known for playing the electric violin cause cmon its a fuckin electric violin that shits cool. high baritone tenor (just like, imagine the phantom ok that was my only thought process with this decision). he did try to go into acting but for as great as he is with everyone on tech he's a little shit to work with if he's onstage and too cheesy for most directors. fucking ate as carlos in a production of legally blonde once tho. he works a lot with chameleon (somehow manages to do great hair, makeup, and costuming) and tinkerers some sorta techie but my tech experience is all theater and i know jack about instruments and shit

black cat imma say is an alto (listen i was an alto for a long while before i became a tenor) and like, i think poppy is a good point of reference for some of the vibes im getting for her. and in general a mix of like, sultry seductive type songs and straight up heavy metal.

7. What inspired the idea for the plot?

Honestly? I have a soft spot for "person arrives in a small town and has their life turned upside down (for the better) by a stranger" romance stories. That and a random morning when I started posting off the cuff ideas on this blog about a metalhead Shadowheart AU over coffee. But those romance stories always have really funny, contrived concepts tied to them. Usually they're holiday-oriented. I don't like those holidays, so I thought... what could I do? What if I just combined my goofy post with my love of that type of story? What if I could write a bunch of metal references instead of holiday references? Plus, personifying Shar makes what she does to Shadowheart even more awful and sadly realistic. Not that you particularly need to be realistic in fiction - after all, there's elements of magical realism in that fic - but it definitely helped to focus on the themes.

15. Was there anything you had to research for this fic? Do you usually do a lot of research?

I don't care about cars at all, so writing anything about Ash's mechanic gig is where most of my research goes tbh. I've got tons of personal experience playing in shitty bands, so I can just draw endlessly on that for those parts lol. Thankfully, I've been able to skim past the mechanic specifics and just kinda let things work themselves out. I did a bit of research on terminology and parts, and I've got a doc full of jargon that I can use just in case. Typically, I do a fair bit of research for my writing. But it depends on the topic. A lot of folks limit their 'research' to checking Wikipedia, but to me it means that I went and bought a specialized book/got a book from a library, listened to any freely available lectures on the topic, and went down a weeklong rabbit hole of specialist forums, etc. I do that for things like religion, women in the Middle Ages, and pre-modern technology though lol. Why else would I have a book of essays on Italian Renaissance interior design?

I haven’t really considered this before, actually. Tsunami makes more electronic-y music, so they listen to just about anything within that genre for the most part. They do cover stuff outside of that occasionally tho, so it’s not all they listen to.

Ivory would definitely gravitate towards more pop-y sounds. I feel like she would secretly be into rock/metal though, I dunno it just feels right lol

6* how do they wear their hair? do they care a lot how their hair looks?

Tsunami tends to keep their tentacles on the shorter side, only letting them grow to about their shoulders. They have two slightly longer ones in the back that they pull back into a low ponytail most of the time. When they’re down, they look like a longer version of the in-game bob haircut. They also have the little swooshy bangs. Other than keeping up with the length and general hygiene, they don’t really care about how they look.

Ivory likes hers longer, like “down to the waist/hips” longer. She’ll pull the two on the back of her head into a high ponytail when she’s working, and if it’s particularly intense she’ll put the other two back too. Usually though she uses them to hold stuff like tools, so she keeps them loose. She will put a little more than the average amount of work into them, making sure to keep the suckers clear and stuff. She really likes when Tsunami helps her wash them too, they know how to massage them just right.

7* favorite animal? why?

Tsunami’s favorite is bunnies. This is another one of those weird, arbitrary “yeah that’s a thing just because” things, there’s no real reason why.

Ivory's is birds, mostly because there weren't any underground, but also because she thinks they're funny/cute. There have been multiple occasions where she has grabbed a pigeon on a whim.

I wouldn’t say either of them are super picky, but they definitely have their preferences. Tsunami likes more spicy, savory, or sour stuff. Ivory has a massive sweet tooth, but she’ll eat just about anything you put in front of her.

Tsunami definitely has more in common with me than Ivory; general demeanor, the color purple, etc.

I think if they knew that I was the one to put them through the shit they went through, neither of them would like me lmao. If they didn't know, I feel we'd get along pretty well.

I’d say both of them are about average, all things considered.

Yeah they both can drive. Tsunami's car is some beat up old thing she got not too long after getting her license. She maintains it herself and keeps it for probably way longer than she should(you know how Diamond mentions an old car? it's the same one).

Ivory’s is some sort of basic sedan or something. Pearl wanted to get her something fancier, but she declined saying that she wanted to get it for herself with her own work.

When Tsunami likes someone, she'll start doing stuff for them, primarily cooking. If she doesn’t, she’s a lot more curt and blunt.

Ivory will be constantly making sure they're okay, to an almost overwhelming degree. She tends to be very passive aggressive and ruthless with people she doesn’t like, usually going for the mental/emotional evisceration before the physical one.

29* are they associated with any particular element (air, earth, fire, water)?

I've always associated Tsunami with electricity. There's a reason for that, but I don't want to go into that rn. I've been trying to come up with ways to actually incorporate that into their... I dunno, general vibe? But I'm not sure how exactly. I have one way(I guess two), but other than that idk really.

Ivory... I don't know, actually, I've never thought about her that way. Of the four options in the question, I'd say she'd be fire.

Not really, for either of them. There was a brief period where Tsunami smoked frequently and she’d smell like that.

I have seen Tetris, yes! Just a few weeks ago, sometime in March, matter of fact, so your timing is particularly incredible. It first haunted me in music form, believe it or not, I kept getting songs from its soundtrack recommend on Spotify.

While I usually really don't like the KGB is in your walls stuff that the Western films always insist on showing, I'll make an exception for this movie because it's pretty fun. I actually liked the Evil Liar KGB had going on, I thought it was very funny. I do have one complaint about the whole thing, though. I wish the pixel animation was utilised throughout the whole movie, not just in That One Scene... :( Just small, little bits (ha) would have been fine...

Fun (not really) fact: I was first introduced to the character of Robert Maxwell through this movie (you have to forgive me for not giving many fucks about the aristocrats of Britain). I have then immediately learnt that his daughter is Ghislaine Maxwell. The Ghislaine Maxwell. Jeffrey Epstein's partner (in crime). How delightful...

What music do I like... That's a terrible question to ask me because I'm very passionate about music... I have playlists for everything I like, even Chernobyl related one... there's not a free minute in my day that I'm not listening to something. I associate music with everything.

I mean, judging solely by the fact that my wardrobe consists of one too many Sabaton and Rammstein shirts, I'd have to say I'm particularly fond of metal. And punk. And rock. I occasionally listen to Hollywood Undead because I discovered it when I was a... young teen, much too young to be listening to that kind of stuff lmao, and so I feel oddly nostalgic about them.

I really like the... weird and experimental stuff? If it has some kind of a connection with nature, I will probably like it. I've been a long time fan of Cosmo Sheldrake - and he just released a brand new album Eye To The Ear on the 12th of April AND a new single just a few days ago... it's everything I could have expected and more, truly. His brother, Merlin (whimsical names is the theme) is a biologist and he wrote a book about fungi, which I really like, but haven't finished because I didn't have the time nor brain capacity to take in all that new information.

And continuing with the theme of slighly weird, I also enjoy video games/movies OSTs. The creepier the better. Little Nightmares (I&II) soundtrack? Perfection. I talk a lot of shit about HBO's Chernobyl but that show's OST is phenomenal (and that's the last nice thing I have to say about it 🙄). From not horror-esque soundtracks: stuff from DOOM.

I've also been mesmerised by the Polish folk music used throughout The Peasants and have been regularly listening to the whole soundtrack. I need to rewatch that movie ASAP... more on movie tracks, I also really like Mad Max: Fury Road's and Moon (2009)'s OSTs.

I also like older, classic bands... Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, Bronski Beat, Depeche Mode... Kult, if we're talking local... And because I AM beating the toxic masculinity allegations: MARINA, Paris Paloma, Caro Emerald and sometimes even Lana Del Rey and Mitski. Other than that, I'm rarely attached to one particular artist or band, I usually like two or three songs and hate the rest haha

first i'll give a little background. so melodic death metal (henceforth referred to as melodeath) is basically a stylistic offshoot of death metal that incorporates aspects of traditional heavy metal/nwobhm (esp Maiden, see Arch Enemy's Aces High cover) for more harmonized guitar riffs, melody, and higher/more discernable growls. Generally, then its pretty accessible, I know a lot of people who got into metal thru melodeath. It was not created by Carcass but their album heartwork was the first real major melodeath release. from their the sound was popularized in Sweden (its why you'll sometimes hear it referred to as the "Gothenburg sound"). Melodeath was also really important in the development of most of the mid-2000s genres that orbit My Chem, the Taste of Chaos and "screamo" sides particularly- i think most people into that era will enjoy melodeath.

So, here's a good beginners list of melodeath albums: - Carcass Heartwork (1993) Carcass started out as a pretty gross pioneer of grindcore/goregrind but switched gears after two albums. really interesting band that managed to be at the forefront of two very different death metal sub-genres. - At the Gate's Slaughter of Soul (1995), which I mentioned in the primer + were an incredibly important influence on modern melodic metalcore (killswitch engage, poison the well, as i lay dying) - Dark Tranquility The Gallery (1995) this miiiight be my favorite album here, its probably the most emotionally compelling melodeath release (lethe is so beautiful...) and i would easily rec this to a my chem fan - In Flames The Jester Race (1996) i don't listen to in flames lmao but they're one of the big three so. here they are - The Edge of Sanity Crimson (1996) probably the most experimental/lesser-known here but easily one of the genres highlights if you find you really like the style - Archy Enemy Wages of Sin (2001) another band mentioned in the primer but deserved a shout-out as one of my favs - The Black Dahlia Murder Nocturnal (2007) TBDM is easily the best of the mid-2000s melodeathy core bands - Amorphis Halo (2022) older band but i did want to include at least one good recent release

Mutsuki is absolutely an indie pop guy in his music taste-- for me at least this is 99% based on the music taste of one of my favorite writers for the pairing who made beautiful tg playlists I revisit to this day, 1% vibes in my head, and trace nostalgia for the og 2010s fandom in general, but yeah. canonverse or any-verse, that is in fact what i see him liking to listen to

You (maybe, who knows what anyone knows about me at this point) know I see Suzuya being a metalhead, but I think he would like anything that makes him want to get up and sing and dance, and after finding a few punk bands I don't actively dislike as research for this ask, I can see him jumping around belting out some punk rock with his heavy metal

Suzuya doesn't strike me as a musician at heart or anything too dedicated, but he does seem like the type to learn an instrument in a weekend just because it's there and he likes experimenting with lots of different hobbies so long as they're fun. I'm 99% sure he got his hands on a flute in one omake, but I think he would also have fun bedecking a guitar in decals and stickers in true punk-without-meaning-to fashion, and there's no such thing as too many thread/string motifs

Mutsuki (canonverse or no special music-related au) strikes me as strictly a shower singer, or anywhere else he can count on solitude and no one hearing him, whereas Suzuya is shameless about vocal stimming be it making noises/humming/singing anytime anywhere to the point of needing to be told to shut up, both of them can sing to some degree though, and when Suzuya finds out Mutsuki can sing he won't stop hounding him to let him hear more

Mutsuki has a deep voice. It's just the vocal cords he was given. Like him, his voice his warm and gentle, and his soft-spokenness lends itself well to indie, so yet another fun little reason I agree with you on that front

Suzuya's voice is like him: agile, bright, and piercing. He uses it in ways that can just as easily be obnoxious as it can be beautiful, whether it be wailing a heavy metal song or belting out some punk rock. Even just singing for fun, he likes to experiment and make noise that isn't quite music yet, who cares how annoying might be to people whose opinions don't matter to him.

Suzuya finds Mutsuki's voice soothing and at least in canonverse Mutsuki would finally cave to his needling to hear him more to help ground Suzuya, help him relax, or even by fully singing him to sleep. Maybe, just maybe, he starts to like the recognition and appreciation from Suzuya and allows him to hear him sing a little more often...

For Mutsuki, however, Suzuya's vocal stimming while he does anything and everything is an acquired taste, but he was nearly moved to tears the first time he caught Suzuya singing what he remembers of some classical piece Madam used to like or had playing at the Restaurant often enough for him to pick it up. Sadly just because he knows it doesn't mean he particularly likes it, so not a lot of in-home operas tend to happen, but he does have a musical sweet side

I think Suzuya's creative process, be it in his artsy hobbies in any universe or an AU where he's actually some kind of creative (such as yours) is messy and chaotic and his ghoul investigator really comes out when he tacks drawings, swatches, lyrics, whatever to his wall, fridge, mirrors, anything while eating, sleeping, and breathing his current project to an obsessed degree. Maybe he still goes full ghoul investigator with a crime board, not that I can in any way vouch for how amazing those things are for getting one's shit together for a project

Not just a headcanon tbh, but Suzuya is the type to go nuclear when someone pisses him off

Actual headcanon: one of his fatal flaws in his relationship with Mutsuki is needling him without meaning to when Mutsuki is upset and he wants to make it better, which can backfire despite genuine good intentions

While they might start liking things they associate with each other once they've been together long enough, without that association neither of them really like each other's taste in music.

Suzuya finds himself understimulated by a lot of the soft stuff and it tends to commit the grave crime of not being very danceable to him, so it just falls short of giving him the happy brain chemicals. Give him someone to dislike within the scene, though, and he might have more scathing things to say about it, even if his disdain is misdirected

Mutsuki is kind and open-minded enough not to act on it, but he finds punk, metal, and such vulgar and abrasive and he privately can't wrap his head around they don't promote morally objectionable shit as cool and sees it being void of any real artistry beyond trying to incite panic and offense for no discernible reason.

I love talking about things I’m into to people on the internet, so yes I can absolutely sales pitch explain Rammstein to you anon. This may be a little too long-winded but I’m insane so you have to forgive me… (tldr at the end)

Okay so,, basically: Rammstein is a German industrial metal band formed in 1994, consisting of lead singer Till Lindemann, guitarists Richard Z. Kruspe and Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, synth/keyboardist Christian Lorenz (aka Flake or Dr Lorenz), and drummer Christoph Schneider.

They lean heavy on performative violence and pyrotechnics during shows (i.e. Till bashing his head against things, Till “cooking” Flake alive in a cauldron with an actual flame thrower, etc… also Till is kinda insane ?? homeboy frequently puts himself through intense physical pain, possibly bordering on self-mutilation, all for shits and gigs??). There is also a fair amount of sexually explicit lyrics, and occasionally visuals (Till and Flake once got arrested for emulating gay sex on stage despite being fully clothed— which is fucking hilarious).

Basically, they’re a bunch of old(ish) german guys having questionably explicit fun, and I’m completely infatuated. They’re also kindaaaaa 👀 HDJKDKFLF…… Anyway, one of their songs, “Sonne” has been trending on tiktok lately (as songs tend to do), so chances are if you have tiktok you’ve probably heard it. Their music videos are fucking wild too— my favorite mvs are “Angst,” “Adieu,” and “Deutschland.” Also Till’s solo “Ich hasse Kinder” mv fuckin slapssss. The mvs, especially the more recent ones, are shot with movie level quality and, though often bizarre and slightly unsettling, are definitely worth a viewing.

They’re kinda always dirty and grimy and covered in soot on stage (presumably both for the aesthetic and because of the extensive use of serious pyrotechnics), in addition to wearing makeup and outlandish costumes (when not shirtless), and are just a bunch of goofballs tbh. They dance around and bully each other on stage— it’s pretty entertaining to watch. Unfortunately they’re not touring the US rn so I can’t cop a ticket, but when they do come back around I can only hope to get my eyebrows scorched off in the pit. And, if you ever see me posting about a super beefy dude with a lot of facial piercings, usually sweaty and gross looking, that’s my beloved Till. I admittedly have a big fat crush on him (and also Richard and Paul) 🤷🏻‍♀️

So, tldr: they’re an off-color German industrial metal group, not particularly for the faint of heart.

They're not bad tbh!! I don't actively seek them out, but I took a theatre class in college and there were a couple I liked. Rocky Horror Picture Show, naturally, is number 1. The local college theatre did a version of it for Halloween a few years ago and I cosplayed Meat Loaf's character to it haha!! It was a blast.

The 1991 original Broadway cast version of Into The Woods is great too. Looks like someone recently did a fan remaster of it!! How cool.

Story Universe: Bright Idea

Nobu is an outgoing and boy-crazy type of gal that is part of the Business/Management Course students of UA. Her quirk is Torch, a fire-based quirk that allows her to emit blowtorch-type flames from her fingertips, palms, and soles of her feet. While she has no real aspirations to become a pro-hero herself, she likes to think that if she did her hero name would be Fyrefly (which her dad affectionately nicknamed her due to using her quirk to hover and fly around when she was little).

Her primary reason for joining the Business Course at UA was simply due to wanting to have a financially successful business career in the future (my girl wants to be rich, but isn’t so mussed about being famous). Plus, she has a natural talent for dealing with people and numbers. Her real passion lies with music though—particularly with playing guitar. She never bothers to properly join up with a band, but after graduating she enjoys hopping on as a session musician now and then, which gives her the opportunity to play a variety of different music styles. Safe to say, Present Mic is one of her favorite teachers due to his work with his radio show (plus they both have similar in-your-face personality types).

*Her father’s name is Gaku, and her mother is Hatsu. The two of them met when they both used to work construction. Nobu inherited her quirk from Gaku, whereas Hatsu’s quirk is Metal Manipulation. Due to their complimentary quirks and their shared love of art, they now work as a team to create metal-based artworks. It’s their appreciation for the arts that got Nobu into music.

Nobu’s closest friends consist of Rie, Nori, Amaya, and a Hero Course student named Chrysanthi “Chrys” Yagi. The first three she’s known since they were young kids (being neighbors with Rie, and schoolmates of the twins), whereas she meets Chrys during the UA Sports Festival and Chrys has been stuck with her ever since.

As mentioned before, she is boy-crazy as well as a hopeless romantic. Despite that, the few relationships she has had have never lasted particularly long and she’s hopped from one boyfriend to another, not yet having found someone she’s clicked particularly well with. (This is writer-speak for I haven’t figured out who I ship her most with lmao.)

To clarify my earlier answer, I loooooove me the sex appeal side of the music. It's just not why I'm a fan, if that makes sense. I'd be no more or less into them if Vess was fully clothed and decided to wear underwear for once (but I'm definitely not complaining about his current... attire loooool. don't search anything related to II on my blog it's embarrassing and I would be a total hypocrite to say that all sexualization is wrong.) It's totally normal to associate the music with sexuality considering, ya know, like a good chunk of his discography is sensual in some way. Bro literally wrote a song about vore as a romantic metaphor. If anything, it's a little unusual to insist that the music isn't sexual.

I'm not annoyed by any of the thirsting on a general level, just when that's people's only takeaway from the music (again, I would be incredibly hypocritical to take a hard oppositional stance lmao). But, that's also my personal opinion and not an objective judgement. I can't expect everyone that heard the summoning on tiktok to deep dive into the lore and discography, so baby making metal is just the only impression some people have lol. And that is okay no matter how I personally feel about it.

It's one thing to be a little miffed about booktok claiming Vess as their sex icon (referring to the reasons in the last ask), it's another thing to get huffy on his behalf about things that YOU'RE uncomfortable with. It's something that twitter fandoms overall seem to really struggle with. They're adults; if they were uncomfortable with contextually-appropriate thirsting, they can assert that boundary themselves. Again, I was in the dream smp fandom on twitter since 2020—the aggression with enforcing boundaries on the person they're a fan of is super unnecessary and, if anything, totally disrespectful as well.

In my experience, the Tumblr community tends to be a little older on average, so the discussion here is generally more mature and level-headed. Obviously you'll get a few dickheads in the bunch, but everyone here is pretty chill even if they disagree. The ability to articulate your thoughts in long-form text posts makes for a more rational medium for discussion imo. Honestly, twitter is a bit of a waste of time if you're looking for a positive, proper fandom experience. It's a platform optimized for rage engagement and echo chamber discussion, neither of which make for positive community building.
