Tolkien Thoughts, 14 Year Old Niece Edition:

So, no one in my immediate family has any particular interest in Tolkien BUT I’ve been making some progress with a 14 year old niece who liked the movies and agreed to give the books a try. She’s here this week for the holiday and so I’ve got an honest to goodness family member in the house who can and will talk LOTR!

I absolutely love to hear her takes on things, both those where we agree and where we differ. So far, she has expressed the following opinions:

1. Book Aragorn “needs to take it down a notch on the whole heir of Elendil thing.” She vastly prefers Movie Aragorn, whose humility she respects.

2. Legolas was her favorite in the movies, and he’s doubly so now because “he had a lot more to say” in the books. She particularly seemed to enjoy Shit Talking Legolas who constantly reminds his friends how young they are and repeatedly rubbed it in everyone’s faces that he wasn’t afraid when they were all having a dark night of the soul at the Paths of the Dead. (She did not pick up Gigolas vibes on her own but enthusiastically endorses the concept now that she knows about it.)

3. She had absolutely no use for Tom Bombadil but, after hearing about Gigolas, she is now considering whether Gandalf and Tom might not be a good pair.

4. She read Sam and Frodo as a romantic relationship without any prompting from me or anyone else and was shocked to find out that not everyone reads it that way. She believes anyone her age would read them as queer by default.

5. She was bothered by the repeated idea that some men have better/higher blood than others, which really offends her as a concept. That kind of soured her on Gondor in particular (though she makes an exception for Faramir) since they’re the ones that are held up as the people with the best or noblest blood.

6. Tho she strongly disliked the setting of different categories of men in hierarchy against each other, she’s fully on board that the elves are better than everyone else. She also cannot understand why anyone is attracted to the dirty, sweaty humans when there are beautiful elves RIGHT THERE. (Obviously this is a point where my influence has fallen woefully short, as I can’t get enough of a dirty, sweaty human. I tried to convince her that she is missing out on some truly amazing dirty sweatiness:

She was interested to hear that Tolkien’s got another book that revolves much more around the elves and their doings, but she’s not sure she wants to read it if there are “elves behaving badly” in it because she wants to keep thinking of them as noble and enlightened and sad. I didn’t tell her about Fëanor as a result. Maybe when she’s 15…

So anyway, we’re doing great over here. She’ll be in town for 5 more days and I hope to get as much more out of her as she’ll tolerate in that time!

Have you seen The Amazing Digital Circus yet?

If so, what's your opinion on it?

I LOVE TADC! It’s my favorite indie show at the moment! There’s just so much I like about it but my main ones are

1. The setting and execution being unique. A horror-like project taking place in an late 90s/early 2000s digital game is not a new idea and same goes with characters being stuck in a purgatory however it’s how the artists reinvent those idea that makes it new. The digital Circus made its own aesthetic that makes it stand out from other projects with similar concepts and designs. When I first watched the pilot, one of many things that stuck out to me was how new the story ideas felt. I couldn’t think of any other pieces of media similar to TADC beside for surface-level comparisons. The TADC created its own aesthetic and knows what it wants to be and I like it!

2. Soundtrack. Speaks for itself, the soundtrack for the pilot is so good especially Your New Home. That song is very catchy and emotional too. It has such a unique melody, everytime you hear the first few notes you instantly recognize it. It does a great job highlighting the dread and existentialism crisis of Pomni’s situation. I recommend to give it a listen if you haven’t.

3. The characters dynamics. I just love how the characters interact with each other. The majority of the jokes comes from characters’ interactions and dynamics and how well everyone plays off of each other. The best example is Jax with everyone, Jax is a funny jerk who likes bullying his peers. It’s funny to see what creative ways Jax will bully the other people whether it’s being sarcastic and making quips at them, or though goofy pranks and how the characters react because of their contrast in personality. Every character beside Jax is openly stressed or worried in someway while Jax, at first seem like a chill layback dude.

4. The characters differences. I adored the differences between each character from how they talk to their poses. After watching HH and HB, I learned to have an appreciation for character differences. It’s just refreshing to see characters allowed to be different instead of the same tired reused tropes and repeating the same type of dialogue again for every character.

5. Mystery and lore. There is so much to explore in the pilot, it’s make you wanting more. When going in to watch the pilot, I made the mistake of thinking the series will be predictable. I didn’t see how they could make this premise work because by the end of it, Pomni will go insane but then I watched the pilot and was speechless. The pilot does a good job setting up questions for the audience to ask. If Caine lied about the exit, what are other things did he lied about? How long has the cast been stuck in the circus? Who are these people? Are they previous game developers? Who were they in their previous lives? What is the company’s motivation to create the headset? What are the abstractions in game? Are they viruses to the game program? Who were the former cast? What horrors has Kinger seen to be as paranoid and easily frighten as he is now? Do the abstractions still have a consciousness? You just want to find out more about the lore to solve the many mysteries in the show. I find it impressive Gooseworx was able to stir up the theorists because they have admitted in an ask, there are already theories floating around that are almost right about the show.

One problem I did have for the pilot were the scenes containing the Gloink Queen. The pacing of the pilot was fine until we got to her then it was slow. I feel it dragged longer than it needed too but beside that, my issues for the pilot ends.

I can’t speak for the fandom on other platforms but the tumblr one is great! Most of the time everyone is being respectful towards each other and I love seeing what creative theories, AU, fanfics, and art the fans created. The only people causing drama are the anti-shippers, and it’s just dumb. All of the cast are adults, if age gaps ships makes people uncomfortable, that’s valid but they shouldn’t make it into other people’s problems. Gooseworx themselves admitted they don’t care for romance and they don’t want fans in the fandom getting harassed over shipping.

Overall despite what issues I had for the pilot and fandom, they’re overshadowed by the positives and I can’t wait to see the full show and the fandom’s growth.

heyaaaa, i'm a big fan of acidental reverse but that should be no surprise to you at this point, is too good, so good! i was so happy when i went to read on ff.net and found out there were more chapters to readthan on ao3 like "I'M NOT GONNA STARVE" anyway, i really wanted to ask what is your opinion on ships, i know is not the main focus of the story and honestly i dont mind there is any, is more out of curiosity since your other works dont really include ships and the closest i saw you get to the theme of two characters liking each other to that degree was in that one chapter were tenma said ''Repressed sexual tension much?!'' to shindou and tsurugi

also that single line broke me so much, it was like, 3:00 am when i read it and i had to muffle my laugh with the pillow so i wouldnt wake up the rest of the house, the way it got me gagged you are so amazing for that i swear-

Well, honestly? I don’t really care about them.

Nothing against people who like shipping (as long as they’re respectful about it), and if I read a story and there’s a good romance in it, I can certainly enjoy it! But I’ll likely never write it as something other than a background thing (mostly just canon relationships).

I think it’s overdone. That’s my biggest issue with it - fandom culture pushes romantic relationships to an extreme degree and downplays the importance of platonic relationships. There’s so many different types of love - between family, between friends, passionate love, playful love, sibling love, parent-child love, found family - and I’ve read far too many stories where the only thing that counts is romance, where all the characters need to be in a relationship, where the only thing that could make you ‘truly happy’ is being in a relationship, and that denies the importance of platonic relationships. The idea that the only thing that matters is romantic relationships is both ridiculous and incredibly toxic. Sometimes platonic love can be more meaningful than romantic love, depending on the situation. Sometimes, when people write two characters who have a meaningful (but canonically non-romantic) relationship as a couple, it takes away from the actual bond between them and downplay the trust and faith they have in one another due to relationship drama.

I guess the reason why I don’t write romance in my stories is because there’s already so, so many stories about that exact topic, and a severe lack of platonic love. I want to read about platonic love, so I write about platonic love. Simple as that.

I am super indicvisive so there's a few-

I really love the familial dynamic with the Batch it's very comforting

12. Which Batcher do you think would be your best friend?

Best friend would probably be Tech (not just cause he's my favorite) because I love listening to people ramble. Also because he is blunt and direct which would make interacting with him easy for me. I'm relatively quiet and enjoy calm people and parallel play. But on that note I can see Wrecker being up there too. Physical touch is a huge part of my love language and he definitely shows it's his as well. I can imagine him giving big hugs after rough missions. Honestly I'd love to play games with Wrecker, he has amazing reactions and such a sweet personality.

22. Which Batcher inspires you the most?

Crosshair absolutely. He shows that people can change for the better, and that if given the opportunity, you can heal. I hope someday we get some sort of media showing his healing process/journey.

And Tech (lotta these answers are going to be Tech I'm so sorry). He shows that autism isn't evil. That someone can be successful, strong, and smart while being autistic. That someone can be loving, and that expressing emotions differently doesn't mean they aren't felt. I love hearing his point of view on Crosshair joining the Empire, how you can understand why someone does something without agreeing with it.

24. Do you have any hot controversial takes?

I personally don't think Tech being brought back would lessen his sacrifice. I dunno if that means he simply finds his way back to the others or something else. But I don't think someone needs to die in order for their sacrifice to mean something. Hell doing something knowing you could die is already enough. I will always always believe he's alive, even if he canonically isn't. Personally as mentioned in other posts, I am not diagnosed with autism, but online screenings and outside opinions lead me to believe that I am autistic. And with that said, I related to Tech. Him being shutdown when he was excited or wanting to say something, him not displaying emotions in a way that others understood, and so much more. Him 'dying' was a huge betrayal to me. I finally found a character I could relate to in Star Wars, and he was taken away so quickly. And it felt like there was not enough talked about on that part. It could just be me feeling hurt by it and wishful thinking. But losing Tech was awful.

Most of it is Tech and all of the soft sides of Bad Batch, and there is a lot. But at the end of the day, this show has made me so happy (and sad) on so many different occasions.

I’ve been rewatching Family Ties (thanks again for showing me where!) and noticed something about Alex’s character that i don’t care for/think you have touched upon.

What are your thoughts on his views of women?The advice he gave Jeff on his date with Mallory appalled me. Do you think it’s just a product of the time- how right leaning people were expected/did to treat women? Or is it something deeper? I don’t understand how he thinks this way after seeing how amazing Steven and Elyse are toward each other. (Even if the kids are disgusted every time they kiss lol)

Yeah, so, a lot of the words that come out of Alex's mouth regarding women are 😬😬😬

I can't recall the exact advice you're referring to, but I do know it's bonkers. Something about how women want a man to make all her decisions or something? Boss her around and take charge? It's honestly not only some of his worst advice, but I also think it's one of the more outrageous things he says in regards to women out of the whole series.

It's especially weird considering he's giving advice on how his sister should be treated by Jeff! And we know that, while Alex isn't always the nicest to Mallory, he loves her very much and wants to protect her. I mean, there's an entire first season episode centered around Alex losing his mind over Mallory going out with a guy who Alex doesn't like or trust. He's so worried about this guy taking advantage of Mallory and not treating her right, then he goes and gives bananas advice to Jeff. So...what's the deal?

Honestly, I don't know, lol. If I had to guess, there are probably several different factors at play that contribute to those moments Alex says Horrible Things.

1. He operates with a set of standards and values from way before his time. The thing is that Alex isn't even a product of his time—a lot of the opinions he holds would be considered outdated in the 80s by the majority of people, regardless of political leaning.

I can't for the life of me remember the episode or the exact quote, so I'm going to butcher it I'm sure, but there's a scene where Alex is lamenting how no one holds the same values he does, and he and Steven have an exchange like this:

Alex: "I should have been born in the 40s."

Steven: "Even then, you'd be a little conservative."

Alex: "The 1740s."

Steven: "....Even then, you'd be a little conservative."

It's something like that. If anyone knows what episode this is from or what the exact line is, lmk because it's one of my favorites.

2. Alex is an extreme black and white thinker. I think this is the number one trait of his that impacts him the most across the board. So many of his problems boil down to him just not seeing nuance. It's not that he's unwilling to. The guy just can't.

It makes Alex very rigid in his thoughts on things, and that absolutely spills over into situations like when he gives advice to Jeff or voices any other wild opinion. He's going to automatically go to the extremes because that's all he can wrap his head around. In a relationship, men should have all the control. They should make the decisions and say specific things and so on. It then leads him to make generalizations about women and their roles.

I think he also finds some security in these thoughts, honestly. Alex clings to facts and things that he feels are concrete and reliable. We also know that he has a very hard time processing and acknowledging his emotions. Putting people into two neat piles is comfortable for him, and anything that doesn't fit into either of those piles is too overwhelming. Alex's world needs rules for it to feel stable to him. Unfortunately, a lot of those rules are...not so great.

3. Shock-value: This is more about Alex the TV show character rather than the "real life" in-universe Alex Keaton, but still. A good deal of his character, especially in the earlier seasons, hinged on him saying or doing things that got a reaction from the audience. You can't have a show about ex-hippy, progressive parents without someone for them to knock heads against. The early episodes in particular seemed to really lean into this, and I feel like he gets toned down slightly as the series goes on? Don't get me wrong, it doesn't go away, but he does grow.

• The "Ladies Man" episode has him realizing that, while he may not support a particular movement, he absolutely respects the rights of the women in the movement. Him jumping up to defend the woman being heckled by a guy, and then his little speech to the women at the end are two of my favorite Alex moments.

• After a very difficult adjustment period when he gets a new job and learns his boss is a woman, Alex ends up really respecting her and becoming friends with her. (Wow, this ep is uncomfortable for the first half, though!)

• Ellen in particular has an impact on helping Alex to see those "in-between" areas, in my opinion. Some heart to hearts with Elyse help as well, and it's clear through the series that Alex loves and respects his mother a great deal.

Idk if this response was coherent, but there you go, haha. Alex is such a complicated character, and whenever I write about him, I feel like I'm trying to untangle a gigantic mess of yarn. But I do love him! Sometimes he is a menace, though!! He should, perhaps, simply keep his mouth shut a lot of the time.

(Also, Steven and Elyse don't discipline him ever, so it's partly their fault if we're being real here)

Ahsoka Episode 5 Spoilers Below!

Okay, I’m going to do something I never do, and I don’t think ever have done – I’m going to do the “take” thing – put my opinion online. I don’t like to do this, because I feel like there is ALWAYS someone opposed, and I just don’t want any bad energy revolving around my beloved escape from reality.

For the last twenty-two hours, I have been profusely hitting the ❤️­s on other posts, jumping up and down and hugging people, and basically just doing the equivalent of shouting, “ANAKIN!!!” but I’ve yet to really try to discuss Episode 5, because, quite frankly, it’s just been too freaking emotional for me! I have all these feelings that I don’t know how to sort out, and I've honestly felt like I could burst into tears at any given moment, all day long. I went through this with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and I remember I felt literally insane for a WHILE. Perhaps, I should’ve written something like this back then – writing is my outlet, after all.

So, here we go. . . I don’t have many followers, and I know many people won’t read this, but I just need to get it out!

A couple of weeks ago, my dear friend, Wibz asked me, “What kind of story do you like? What kind of fic do you like to read?” I replied sappy, mushy, hurt/comfort, of course. I told her I like dialogue – dealing with emotional ups and downs - HEALING. I told her I liked fix-its and time travel, and I specifically said I like seeing into ‘what could’ve been’ scenarios, and I mentioned by name the movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life.” And the thing I really love about that movie is the ability to visit the past. I like stories that take us back – and not just as a flashback, but a present character being able to look at their past and reflect. You probably know where this is going by now, but the way we finally got our long-awaited Clone Wars ‘flashback’ couldn’t have been more perfect in my opinion.

And the thing that has made me the most emotional through all of this was simply seeing that first battle in live action. I will admit, upon viewing the first two episodes of Ahsoka, I felt the show might’ve been better presented in Rebels animation. Well, I can now, happily admit I was wrong.

We saw the brutal beginnings of the Clone Wars at the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of the Clones, and we see the heart-breaking conclusion and the end of the war in Revenge of the Sith. My personal opinion is that we have been very fortunate to get a great show about the time in between, however; being short, animated (directed at a younger audience) episodes, there are emotional aspects that are rushed through and not fully explored. If you’ve read my insanely long fix-it fic, then you know that it carries through these Clone Wars episodes that I love so very much, BUT in writing it my own way, I was able to put in all the drama I wanted to see – the breakdowns, the tears, a deeper look into the trauma of fighting in a war. And yes, there have been some amazing Star Wars novels that do this, but again, seeing it in live action. . . seeing just how young Ahsoka really was, seeing her mourn the injured and deceased clones. Having her and Anakin address the fragility of life and getting to hear that conversation about it. . . Now the viewing audience has a grasp on just how bleak this time period was. I didn’t know how bad I needed to see this – a human turned Togruta actor conveying those destroyed expressions and defeated body language. The impact was more than I expected, and it wouldn’t have been the same in animation.

The other super tear-jerky part for me was the theme of ‘Live or Die’ ‘Fight or Die’ . . .I can’t let myself get into too much detail about this, but if you know me, and you know my story, then you know. Great. I’m crying again 🤷🏻‍♀️ This was just such a powerful message for ANYONE struggling in any aspect of their life, and it sincerely helped me to rise another day, and will be a continued reminder, probably for a while.

You all know how much I love Anakin (and Obi-Wan), and so much of the hype is revolved around his character right now, but this personal journey we find Ahsoka on is truly beautiful to me. I was honestly uneasy about the way Ahsoka was portrayed, thus far, in our other series. She didn’t feel like Ahsoka to me. I accepted and understood that her character had been through much in her short life, and that much time had passed since we last saw her and she would've evolved, but overall, I honestly (😬) didn’t much enjoy what we got of her in live action. I kept my expectations for this show at the minimum. I try not to predict what might happen in canon Star Wars, because I never want to set myself up for disappointment. I strive to go in with an open mind and a clear head and just enjoy the show. But I’ll admit, I was hopeful for Ahsoka’s character development in this. . . and so far, I find myself satisfied. It has now been acknowledged how severely Anakin’s turn impacted her – that was a necessity in my opinion, because of course it did. And it’s still unfathomable to me, but I feel like we got to witness her getting her closure with Anakin 😭 At the end of episode 5, I was finally getting the Ahsoka vibes I was longing for. And let’s not ignore just how ’Ahsoka’ she was in the past scenes with Anakin! I was in awe of how her different animated fighting stances over the years translated into live action. It was her! And this is probably a great time to also mention: that was Anakin, too! In the beginning, we saw him on that World Between Worlds walkway training Ahsoka – the orchestrated footwork, the lack of aggression . . . It felt like the Anakin we see in the lightsaber kata training video Ahsoka watches in Rebels! We have not seen this in live action! We have not seen Anakin as a Master to an apprentice! 🥹 And again, I didn’t know how bad I needed that. Later, when we are taken back onto that WBW walkway, we see him fighting like we’ve seen in Revenge of the Sith. It’s Vader! And he’s so pissed and intends to kill! I won’t spend too much time gushing the way most already have – the Sith eyes, the flawless ROTS attire we already loved given back to us, and the Clone Wars look brought to life. . . the hair 😍 Just seeing him, Hayden Anakin, fight in a Clone Wars battle in live action! So strong and mighty 💪🏻 with such determination and sensitivity. . . with just the right amount of cockiness 😉 He’s perfection. And I think this is noncontroversial opinion everyone would agree with lol.  

And maybe you do or don’t agree with this part, but I feel Anakin’s appearance was 💯 open to interpretation, and I think that’s GREAT. This character means so much to so many people, and there is never a way to satisfy everyone when it comes to storytelling. Everyone had/has different opinions of how this should’ve been handled. Was Anakin a Force ghost? Was the entire encounter all in Ahsoka’s head? Was Anakin something else entirely? Was he Vader? Maybe you have an answer to this question and you are certain in your theory – that’s awesome. I think that’s the way it should be. We get to “make things the way we want them to be” WITH CANON! 👏🏻 I am not yet certain of what my own theory is. I’ve watched it four times, and I am still processing it all. One thing for sure, I’m glad the WBW was involved. Again, if you know of my preferred way to ‘fix-it’ then you know what that means to me 🥰

I think I’m done 🫣 I just needed to release these feelings! And I feel we are so blessed. I still can’t believe this really happened. And I am so thankful to get to share in the joy with all of you 💖 Okay! I think I’m ready to talk now if y’all want to talk! 🤭

Your fics are probably one of the few things keeping me in the fandom now and I honestly have a lot of questions so I hope you don't mind. Since the Halloween event where Minhyeok turns into a devil by Satan kissing him to transfer a bit of his power into him when we pull for white hair Minhyeok, he is said to be in Satan's camp. And after my ask and you said something about dying and going back to being alive again, do you think a pact/contract/seal from a specific king is needed for Minhyeok to turn into a devil and become that king's servant? Because I just think it can't be all that Minhyeok can turn into a devil only by just dying like there has to be something else like with Companion.

If he becomes a devil he already has to serve a king he makes a contract and be in Hell without coming to Earth to his family anymore (I think he will live with Ppyong cause the red lump did make that offer). Also after becoming a devil will Minhyeok still gonna be a simp for Raon? Will their relationship turn more toxic (that sounds very likely)? Or will he just put himself in the same hole as Raon like other devils before getting out like them? What would the Companion's opinions on the whole thing? Will they just gonna cut ties with Minhyeok and Raon at some point? Without Companion being in their right mind anymore after their angel's transformation, Minhyeok and Raon are for sure gonna become even more of a mess.

Sorry for asking too much but I think fiction that makes you question a lot is great, it keeps you there and contemplates, your fics do it for me so they're really amazing.

Hehehehe it's a habit of mine to read things that are lacking or very disappointing and just, turn them into reader inserts and also tweak them in a way that would be enjoy for me. You have no idea how many other obscure webcomics, manga and other things I've did that with. It's fun for me, and it's fun to just, drag people into the pit I'm in when there's little Fandom. It's fun! I'm serious when I say I write for real obscure things.

Hmm let's see, I have an floating around in my head. If Minhyeok has the intention of becoming a demon, and he makes a contract for that to happen, I feel the other devil kings will make it a bitch for him to become one. Minhyeok is about the only string that's keeping Ra-on from fully converting into Hell, and with his presence here, he serves as a constant reminder to Ra-on about how much he wants to come home.

Now, onto the contract making with the devil kings and how that would go.

Sure, the easy solution would just be give Minhyeok what he wants and fully turn him into a demon, but, again, the thought of just giving him what he wants without at least some entertainment on their end just isn't in their nature. So, if Minhyeok wants to become a demon, he'll probably have to injure himself for it. You know, as proof of Minhyeok's conviction. What they weren't expecting was Minhyeok's capacity of self-harm for the sake of taking care of others that are in very clear distress. He coddles Ra-on and it's infuriating, and what makes it even more irritating is how Minhyeok is willing to run himself to the ground to take care of everyone. Certainly, Ra-on takes priority, but given the chance, he would not say no to the Companion also shutting themselves up in his house.

So anyway, Minhyeok's decision to become a devil is meant to be the peak of his self destructive tendencies. He's willing to throw away all of his humanity and be forever bound to Hell if it meant he can take care of his childhood friends in that moment.

I feel that originally, Minhyeok only approached Satan with this idea since he shared power with him once, so his chances of getting something out of this were a little higher than anyone else. But then the other devils hear about it, and then they're all hit with the fact that, depending on who Minhyeok ends up serving, that's the devil Ra-on is going to be spending time with the most.

So... yeah, most of them are probably going to fight over who gets to be the one to turn Minhyeok into a devil. Which is funny to me.

And then I'll probably do a twist of irony where Lucifer ends up winning somehow, probably talking some sense to him like "Do you think, in the state they're in now, that they would recognize you if you were to become a devil?" So the deal changes from Minhyeok turning into a devil, and more someone that ends up healing real fast. But then he dies, because the Companion is ruthless in their berserk state. And so Minhyeok is revived. But he dies again. Then is revived. It happens, over and over again, and it makes one question how many times can a human be revived by a devil without said human being unaltered. Either way, the idea here is that each revival changes Minhyeok a little bit until it can't be reversed.

In the end, Minhyeok gets what he wants, at the expense of his ability to go home, to go back to everything that he knows.

So anyway, yeah he's still coddling Ra-on on hand and foot. And, of course, without the Companion to be the voice of reason and hand of of discipline, the dynamic that Ra-on and Minhyeok have would devolve into something a whole lot worse. It goes from "let's go back home when everything's over," to "Just tell me what to do, and I'll do it, no matter where you are." Completely and utterly sucked into the world they're building for themselves, indulgent in all their worst vices.

Alrighty alrighty, what would the Companion think of it all, after everything they've been through. The funny part about it is that the Companion was ready to cut ties way back at the start. They gave themselves a deadline and if things don't start to change at least a little bit by that time, then they're packing their bags and leaving. But, of course, Hell comes and swallows them after the angels come in, so that put a damper on things.

The Companion is stubborn and wants things to go their way. They want for all of them to go home first, and then continue with the plan with cutting ties, because at least then they're not at risk of losing their lives to an angel attack. So if Minhyeok shows signs of missing the human world, of missing his family and wanting to go home, then they can breathe for a moment, regardless if he's a devil or not. The chances of Minhyeok going home are minuscule, but they're just as small as the Companion going home.

So, really, the only way for the Companion to truly cut ties with Minhyeok and Ra-on is when they imply they're happier here than the human world, when they do things that show how much they're slowly starting to devalue the human world they're born in. When all they're focusing on is the flaws of the human world, and how nice this world of Hell is, that's when the Companion just cut ties. No warning, no prompt on their part. They're just done. They want nothing to do with them anymore. There's no point.

But yeah, that be the idea. Seems like something fun and angsty.

5sos5, my tragic love baby, we start it out so strong with complete mess, first self-produced song and first song we heard that was written by the four of them and only the four of them, all of them singing, a recognizable guitar riff, that classic 5sos song structure with a 4 chord melody where the song builds up until it drops at the bridge and comes back to finish it off strong with the last chorus, also "I ask no questions as your colors take their hold as my darkness turns to gold inside"?????? Excuse me??????? Then we move on to easy for you to say, they wrote all that we just let them get away with it, I'm scared to find a piece of peace of mind has haunted me since I heard it for the first time in a shaky Instagram live from the Dublin show, obsessed with the lyrics of this song, I think lyrically it really shows how good they are as songwriters, but this song is also my controversial opinion of the album because there's something in the production of it that deeply bothers me (sorry Michael, I love you) so it's the song I listen to the least, I'm still listening the live cut from the tour diary. Then we go to Bad Omens, I will never accept the fact that that song is not everywhere. I think it's flawless, the way the intro matches the outro so you can get caught in the same loop of going around again that the lyrics are talking about, and that's something that's a trend with them, they exaggerate the lyrics with the production and I think bad omens is the best example of it, I'm particularly obsessed with the way the chorus makes you expect a high note after the somebody, so when we get to the outro we expect the last somebody to be followed by a high else, but they actually drop the note, because nothing is ending in a high note here, not the relationship, not the song. Flawless vocals, flawless melody, flawless production, not a single wrong decision was made with this song. Then we have me myself and I, I think is so much fun, I think they made the perfect pop song, you have simple lyrics that are just repeating, and the way the song is structured it kinda feels like it's just one chorus that keeps going and going and since the song actually ends not only in the middle of the sentence but also in the middle of the progression in the guitar, you kinda feel this need to loop it, I know most people didn't get it when Ashton said that this song was very sgfg, but this song is so sgfg if sgfg was more pop than it is, the way its 4 chords in a guitar that just loops, the way it builds around that riff, the way the drums only come in in the second verse, the way it goes, goes, then just drops before coming back, the outro with the repetition, it's all very vapor of them in my opinion lol. Then we have take my hand, the way Luke wrote it alone and they managed to make it sound like a 5sos song is actually such a good example of how well they work with each other as musicians, because, yes, you can feel Luke's influence deeply in the song, but you can hear them all in it. Also, Luke Hemmings the songwriter you are, I can't quote anything because I would just write the whole song. One of their strongest bridges, amazing song all around.

Then we get to carousel, I don't know if anyone else remembers this but Ashton said that you just need 2 chords to make a great song, and this song technically has 4, but in the verses, they're actually going back and forth with 2, and I think that's such a good way to give you that feeling of spinning that comes with a carousel when paired with the drums, also I feel like this song is the first of many in the album where Luke flexing his vocal range lol, dude starts on his lower register, pulls some high notes and the whole time you're just like *Ashton's voice* you got an epic voice bro. Also, the symbolism of the lyrics drives me a bit crazy. And the way the song drops but never picks back up because you're on a one-way ride and there's no going back, INSANE. Also, Youtube countdown outro my beloved <3. Then we get to the most controversial song on the album. Personally, I think older is a good song, I would've put it as a deluxe track and put moodswings here instead but mostly because moodswings fits the tragic love narrative of the rest of the standard album in a way older doesn't. Love the piano, love the way Luke's voice goes with Sierra's, beautiful song but it feels out of place when you look at the rest of the album. My dear devoted delicate <3. Then Haze. Let's ignore the emotional whiplash of going from a piano ballad to it. I'm actually obsessed when 5sos goes 80s pop, it's a song that makes you want to move. It gives you that very pop feeling while being completely built around a guitar riff, so it's a very pop vibe but it exists around their strength, also Ashton is singing so it is a win in my books lol "when I lived between the bars" <33333333 . And the fact that all of them have production credits on it makes me all !!!!! Then you don't go to parties. I'm in a ydgtp mood so this may be very biased toward it. I love that the verses are built around the bass but the chorus is built around a guitar riff. I'm obsessed with everything about it, the little synth noises thrown all around, Calum playing with his lower register, the drums, Ashton's verse, everything really. Lost my limit cause I'm dumb and I'm passionate. I'm particularly obsessed with how many ways you can interpret the lyrics. Maybe he's looking for someone, maybe the someone he's looking is his old self, maybe he just wants out from his own head. Amazing, incredible, did something to my brain when I first heard it. Then blender, my beloved. LOVE when they make a song around the bass riff. Obsessed with the use of a blender as a metaphor for the cycle they're trapped in, because a blender spins things around while chopping them up, so no cycle is without consequence. Another song Luke is just flexing how good of a vocalist he is. Everything about it feels dramatic, the chorus sang in one breath, the imagery the lyrics are painting, the way the song starts and ends with Luke singing so no intro or outro to get you out of the cycle. Mandatory moment of appreciation for time stamp 1:37 <3.

Then we have caramel. I will never get over this song. It fundamentally changed me as a person. From the sigh in the beginning to the riff at the end. Ashton lower harmonies in the first verse, Luke's voice sounding almost dreamy while the lyrics are talking about getting back to something and how it gets sharper as the song goes and the lyrics start to give you the idea that maybe there's no saving this one. I know it well, caramel, I feel the comedown. I don't know about yall but every time I hear the second verse of this song I want to drop to my knees and scream (and I have on occasion lol). I don't think they made a single wrong choice with this song, from lyrics to production. Love like a landslide, I kiss you goodnight and the implications of the goodnight in a song about fighting for something that you know is doomed because they could've very easily made that love like a landslide I kiss you goodnight, love like a landslide I kiss you goodbye and imply that they are leaving this thing they know they can't save, but no, the love is going down and they are going down with it. Then they just spin you around with best friends. Love that this is a 2 chords lets have FUN song. I love my best friends, they love me, I will hold on to this feeling as long as I can. Michael verse <3333333333. Absolutely obsessed with how they just wrote a song about friendship. Love how this is a song that I can see every era of them playing and just goofing around on stage. Then we have Bleach. Way to put you back in the emotional blender. Again, Luke flexing his range. Lower Calum, Michael verse. You know how I said they sometimes exaggerate the lyrics with the melody? This song has water sounds (I can't determine if Michael actually added waterlike sounds or if he added a waterlike effect to the slides sounds you can get when you switch chords in a guitar) and with a good enough headphone, there's actually a whole layer of harmonies in it that sound like they are playing somewhere with a lower refraction rate than air, like water. It's so hard to watch everything I want, everything I was spinning down the drain. Multitasking 🥺. I do wanna know if this song was the soundtrack to more people impulse changing their hair color because the amount of times I bleached my hair while this song was playing since it came out is a bit alarming. Perfect soundtrack for those of us who dye hair as a bad coping mechanism lol. Then we have red line. I'm definitely biased about this one. This is one of my favorite songs ever. Definitely my favorite on the album. The way they play with the imagery of waiting in a train in it fascinates me, from the oohs that sound like the notes of a train whistle, the synth that sounds like the sound you get when there are station announcements, the echos that sound like the ambient sound you would hear waiting for a train, to the literal train doors closing as the song ends. The lyrics that leaves you wondering if they are waiting for the train to come or for someone to join them on the train they are. The implication of not being welcome anymore. I want back in, but I can't. I would love an acoustic version of it and I think more people would like it if it had a more stripped production, but seriously this song is everything to me. And what a way to end the album when you consider the bird sounds in the beginning of complete mess, to finish it with a door closing. Michael Clifford the producer you are.

Then we have the bonus tracks. They put you in the emotional blender going back and forth with sad songs, lets dance songs. I want whatever Michael put in moodswings so I can inject it pure into my bloodstream. The most Luke flexing his range Luke could get lol (they're not playing this song because they can't change the key or else the rest of the song would be too low but the chorus is too high for Luke to sing every night and I will die on this hill lol). The epitome of I have an anxious attachment style but I am in a long-distance relationship. I love a good reminder of how well all of their voices go with each other. Obsessed with the way they exaggerated the breaths in the bridge, the random piano sounds. Also, do something for me, put moodswings, queue bleach, change the crossfade to 12 seconds, then sit back and enjoy. Then we have a nice little 180 twist because going from moodswings to flatline gets me like that gif with the girls dancing while crying lol. I don't care what Ashton said, I still hear Calum lol. But their harmony game is insane and I think that that chorus has a shitton of layers and that's what keeps us all guessing about who's singing. Anyway, this song makes me want to sit them all down and discuss their range because that shit is HIGH. Again, love me some pop vibes. Sometimes you just wanna dance to a song about falling so hard you feel like your heart is gonna stop. Then we have emotions. Criminally underrated song. Obsessed with the way Michael is singing about anxiety on top of a guitar riff that counts in a self-soothing pattern, I think that's legit genius of him. The way he's harmonizing with himself too, like, he said MY SONG and meant it. I'm doing my best and I guess that's the best I can do. I think this song follows the malum pattern while writing songs together because they have a tendency of repeating sounds more frequently than you would expect, kinda as if they made a list of words that rhyme and tried to put them as often as possible. I'm also obsessed with how low the song is because I think we as a society talk about hitting high notes all the time, but a lower song can be real impressive if you give it a chance. Bloodhound. Forever mad I didn't get visuals of Michael's "he sunk his teeth into the bone" but I can see Ashton arguing against this song because the crowd would clap wrong during the bridge and he wouldn't be able to move past it oksaaoska. Fun song, gotta be honest tho, the lyrics confused the shit out of me for a while there. I do love the beat in this, the combination of the bass and the drums and that thing in the back that sounds like Ashton is banging his drumsticks together. Then we have tears. Anything that has Ashton singing is a win in my books. Obsessed with the imagery in it. There's a hole in the sun caving in and I feel it. Burn the words to start over. Diamonds turn to puddles. Tears hitting the ground, Fears pulling me down. Cashton do know how to make a song. I think if you're going back and forth with a duo in the band, Calum and Ashton create a real nice effect. The rhythm section really popped off with that one. Love how you get double the Ashton influence with how heavily it goes around the drums.

The new vocal coach was an amazing choice, Michael is an amazing producer, lyrically they excelled themselves, really shows off all of their strengths 1000000000/10 best 5sos album and we all know it.

Hi I just wanted to also throw in my support and let you know that I'm sorry you're dealing with people being horrible. Art is meant to be whatever you want it to be and just because you like something in fiction doesn't mean you like it in real life or are some monster indorsing literal crimes (That's why it's called FICTION). You have an amazing art style and a great sense of humor and even though there are some things I don't like that you make I know all I have to do is skip them. People need to understand the difference between participating in ways to limit real threats real threats (like refusing to consume media made by proven abusers and crinimals) and functionally conservative censorship (even if they don't want to admit that is what they are doing) just because they do not like something or it makes them uncomfortable (especially when that censorship many times comes with unsubstantiated accusations and literal death threats). I'm not one to have the mind set of 'back in my day things were better!' because no they weren't, but one thing my generation did do right was learn how to block and ignore things that they were uncomfortable with instead of deciding that the best route to take is literal cyber attacks (I hate calling it 'bullying' since that doesn't even cover half the horrible stuff I've seen people say and do) on people to the point of wanting them to kill themselves over literal fictional characters in art.

You’ve made a lot of great points, and I agree with you wholeheartedly! An artist has their freedom to draw and post whatever they want, and the viewer has their freedom to look at it or block it and forget it. If you don’t like it or don’t get it, it’s not for you to get – it’s plain and simple like that.

And yes, there ARE ways to limit irl threats and problematic situations! There are groomers, a lot of them are in fandom spaces, but these folks are looking at the wrong people. And they know it damn well, their goal isn’t actually to bring justice or make someone feel safe: if that was the case, they would just have a list of tags to block and that would suffice nicely.

Also you’re right, things weren’t better back then, but people really did seem to mind their business and ignore/block stuff they don’t want to see more often. And even when artists/writers/people in general received shit from others, it was understood by everyone than people doing this stuff were just straight-up trolls whose entire goal was to mess with others. But nowadays people who harass, bully, threaten and send “kys” messages somehow try to make it seem like they are morally superior to their victims??? im actually a big fan of the "newer" stuff, we're talking new 52 onwards, purely bc it works nicely in the times

new 52 starts strong with a storyline that's all about dick's past, and given it ocvurred after a hard reset, it's easy to get into

so:

nightwing 2011 (30 issues + 1 annual)

grayson (20 issues + 3 annuals + futures end, a weird special that i would honestly skip)

nightwing 2016 (109 issues and counting + 5 annuals + nightwing rebirth that comes before the run)

there's also the 2? previous nightwing runs:

nightwing 1995 (five issue limited run + alfred's return #1 special that comes first)

nightwing 1996 (153 issues + issue 1/2 + issue 1,000,000 + a whole host of specials)

2? because does nightwing 1995 actually count as a proper run???

you might also hear them referred to by volumes, 1995 is vol 1, 1996 is vol 2, 2011 is vol 3 or new-52, 2016 is vol 4 or rebirth

grayson is a bit weird but my absolute favourite dick ever. it's a spy thriller and doesn't have a lot of batfam/titans/yj characters in it BUT it does have a lot of dick being awesome. there's also an 'event' that takes place during grayson called robin war, very fun and a good show of dick's skills and manipulation.

to top it off, robin year one is always quoted as essential reading so i'd check it out too (before anyone shouts nightwing year one, it's issues 101-106 of vol 2)

there's also a lot of batman that features dick, he has a nice feature in both hush and under the (red) hood but nothing major, both giving us some nice interaction with bruce. both are also just incredible and deserving of being on the list of iconic batman

batman and robin 2009 is a lot of fun bc it features dick as batman, and damian wayne as his robin. this is a dynamic that i just love and is where episode 113 os WFA just hits hard (and why damian leans on dick so much, he is dick's robin)

oooooo and a lonely place of dying (1989) is brilliant. it's the introduction of tim drake and features dick. it's great, you should read it. it comes after a death in the family which is also just amazing. no dick, just jason, but fun (dick was in space at the time with the titans, tamaran i think)

i do just want to give a warning for nightwing 2016, it gets weird from issue 50 onwards. there's a period where the comics shift massively (#50-77 no spoilers) and then the current run by tom taylor is fine but misses a chunk of his character. i still like it but it's not the best thing for his character

OMG i forgot about titans runs lmao. ngl, i haven't read that much titans so i will leave that to one side so any experts can accurately recommend. i will say that i have enjoyed the very recent worlds finest: teen titans (2023) limited run a lot, back in the robin days, deals with dick and bruce's relationship and his relationships with the team. (also wally is there and i love wally)

TL;DR

start with nightwing 2011 and work forwards moving to grayson and then to nightwing 2016. then go back and read the older stuff

i have absolutely missed a lot BUT this is kind of my "short n sweet" run down, iconic dick grayson is like, most of dick grayson, so it's hard. the common advice (and what i did) was new 52, grayson, rebirth

tbh this is like a basics list, the required reading if you will, not that you need to read any of it but if you do want to, this is a good starting point. a lot of the runs have these crossovers, like robin war and death of the family (not the jason one, this is a weird vol 3 thing), so you get to read other comics too for those issues)

That is all what I have been thinking these days and can't point it out. Everytime people say tinn is the greenest flag in bl history (some people even go as far as saying he's better than Pat Napat, trust me I've been though that) It pisses me off so damn much. They won't even try to hear my reasoning because they are in that so deep.

I mean I like msp. It's fun and light hearted and all. There are also some great moments that I like. And GeminiFourth are amazing. TinnGun are good in there own way. But I will be really triggered if when (some) people say its better than bbs. Because it most definitely is not. I can't even begin to compare it to the amount of love and Dept of the character arcs of PatPran. It is a funny light hearted good high school romance which can be enjoyable for a watch.

And to be honest (it may sound extremely controversial) msp ki more like 2gether than bad buddy. (Runs to hide in a hole).

No need to thank me, anon! You're really cute. And it saddens me a little that you might be feeling like you have to stay anonymous because otherwise the fandom would hate on you for daring to have a different, unpopular opinion - if that's not your reason, then please forgive me for assuming it was; but if it is, it's genuinely not worth it to be 'intimidated' by people who can't deal with other povs, and just blindly appreciate medias with flaws, without accepting the idea that you can love a media with flaws and still point them out (I don't think Bad Buddy itself is perfect by any means, for example). With BLs, this happens more often than not, because apparently pretty cisgender boys aren't easily seen as criticisable - who would have thought!

I don't even wanna dive in into the 'Tinn is a green-flag' topic all that much (sure, he's a good boyfriend, even too good at times, but he does abuse his power in school just to benefit his own boyfriend, and this issue is presented as comic relief despite being actually a serious matter - although it might understandably not be one in the eyes of a 16/17 yo). The point is not to determine whether or not he's a green flag - it's also a pretty subjective topic, in my opinion -: we just shouldn't go as far as to compare characters that were written in very different ways.

Tinn and Gun are simple characters, literal characters who spell out every single emotion they're feeling, and who are cute and good people in their core, and who make you laugh while you're watching them do stuff on screen. That's all they are, and it's not like they're even trying to be something more. And that's okay!

Pat and Pran are complex characters. Bad Buddy is written with heavy and competent use of the 'show, don't tell' method. There's so much more to them and their backstory than what we see/what they explicitly tell us. Pat is a green flag, sure, but Pat was also a bully, and it's never explained to us why he became one (he even got a reputation as one to be wary or scared of, and someone 'cold'), and why he suddenly stopped with the violence and the bullying as soon as Pran came back home, because they don't have to tell you: they show you. You know why Pat became someone like that, and you know why he suddenly 'changes' as soon as Pran is around him once again (in a way, Pat does tell you, eventually, in episode 5, when he says everything was so 'depressingly lonely' for him, you connect the dots, you understand, but not because Pat ever goes out of his way to tell Pran how his absence made him feel so angry and empty that he had to take it out on someone else not to implode). This is just one example. The whole show works like that.

Which is why I never understood the parallel between the two dramas at all, to be honest (I know MSP itself made references to BB, but still). It's like comparing a portrait made by a kid, cute and fun and full of color, to something made by an artist with talent and years of experience. You just... wouldn't, would you? It wouldn't even be fair to the kid, to be honest.

Also, getting back to something I was talking about in my other post... You know how everything that Tinn did for Gun that Gun wasn't aware of (he was aware of a lot of stuff, but not of everything that Tinn did behind the scenes) was revealed to Gun in one of the most anticlimatic moments I've ever seen in fiction? And you know how that had Gun realize how true and deep Tinn's feelings for him are?

Right, I think that's a little fucked up, to be honest, because he shouldn't need to know all those things - not to mention from the mouth of another person - to be fully aware of Tinn's love for him. But it's like the narrative wants you to believe that he did need that, and therefore there's your little deus ex machina ready to explain and narrate every single thing that happened without Gun being able to notice as it did.

And I was kind of comparing all of that to what happens in episode 3 of BB, where Pat has the Professor re-admitting them in the University activities just for him and Pran to be able to compete again against each other, for them to do something together - and, ultimately, for Pran to be able to play and sing in front of a crowd, because he knows how much he loves that. Nobody ever had to tell Pran about this, nor Pat, nor the Professor, nor anyone. That's something Pat did because he wanted to do it, not because he's supposed to get something in return and therefore should be known to Pran so that he can add it to the list of things Pat did for him.

As much as Pat is also a huge simp, and one whose love language is definitely acts of service, he stands his ground when he needs to, you never get the feeling that he does too much for Pran compared to what Pran does for him, because he's well aware that Pran just shows him his love in different ways - and we see those ways portrayed on screen. It's super balanced and equal, even though it might look otherwise from the outside, even though Pran himself could get insecure about it and worry that Pat might be too selfless in their relationship compared to him (kind of the whole point of the specials, in a way). But it's never presented as a problem, because it isn't. Because Pat's needs and desires are respected and vocalized in their relationship and he's happy with how things are, with the way Pran loves him. And with this I'm not saying Tinn's aren't, I'm just saying I don't think we get to see enough of it to assert they are.

I'm also not trying to say that TinnGun are toxic while PatPran are perfect, because I believe TinnGun work nicely together, and I do believe they're a cute, sweet couple by all means. I'm mostly referring to the storytelling as a single example of why imo these two shows should not be compared at all.

Here’s what everyone was totally waiting for: my unsolicited thoughts on this cartoon man panel thing I found that got posted on YouTube! I… ended up writing MUCH more than I thought… but you know what, I can’t do text cuts on mobile. So I’m not cutting it. Sorry not sorry for forcing you all to read my opinions. 😆

I just kind of focused on the PPG parts because those are really mostly what I was interested in and scrubbed through the rest (since I’m not a huge fan of Foster’s, love WoY but just am not as invested in it as deeply, aaaaand I’ve only seen one or two episodes of Kid Cosmic). The whole PPG section was essentially me just nodding my head at all the stuff I knew that was repeated from other interviews (immediately blurting, “COWARD,” when he said he wouldn’t name them Pink/Green/Blue, occasionally laughing at the “I’m weird~, I’m artsy~, I’m not like other girls~” type of comments 🤣) but mostly agreeing on what he said about the girls. I mean, no surprises there! It’s cool to see how he’s thought about it all, especially in regards to the 2016 reboot and the live action thing.

I mean, agh, I dunno if I would say them getting older takes the Powerpuff out of the Powerpuff Girls (like… not gonna lie, REALLY bummed my mood to hear him go, “Oh, if they get older they’re not Powerpuff anymore, they’re just three super girls,” like…… I dunno, similar to other comments he’s made in the past that have irritated me, I’m sure it might’ve just come out bad and he didn’t mean it that way, but the way he said it just made me feel awful for the characters… sheesh, Craig, God forbid the girls grow up, then they’re just like eeeevery other woman, they’re not ~special~ anymore 😬😬😬) but like I understand that, what makes the girls different than other superheroes, specifically in the OG show, is that they’re little kids and they deal with kid issues. But… they’re also special because they’re sisters! They also have this cool id, ego, superego thing going on (I guess it’s more accurate to call it their heart, mind, and soul connection, now that I’m re-reading this, but what other superhero team has that? It’s very unique to them). Those are just two other big parts of who they are! I don’t think it’s impossible to have them be adults with adult issues (there could certainly be similar types of adult responsibilities that might serve as “kryptonite” as well, ones that are also more universally relatable). And I don’t think it’s impossible to make something with these three very interesting, iconic, strong characters in a setting where their femininity still wouldn’t be the main focus. They still would be living very unique lives: they don’t have secret identities like most superheroes, they still could be trying to live “normally” despite their amazing powers, like… it’s not that you automatically have to focus on them being women all of a sudden when they get older. You can still treat them like, you know, people. Why it seems like there’s an inability for these reboot creators to do that, whether they’re writing them young or old, I’m not sure (…I mean on a certain level I know but I won’t let myself rant about that). …also, yeah, like I’ve said before on here, for live-action you’d need a much bigger budget to even begin to give any of the villains worthy representation! Anyway. I guess tl;dr I personally would of course prefer them be their kids selves because that’s the original concept but yikes dude. I dunno, the comment just rubbed me the wrong way. 🫤

…also, I don’t know if it’s just me, but he seems to really light up talking about the Foster’s thing he wants to do. I would really, really, really want him to just work on THAT instead of doing that plus a PPG reboot. That kind of passion put into a project is great! I keep thinking about how PPG suffered with Craig having little to no involvement with it while working on Foster’s, and keep thinking about how… yeah, essentially, the PPG reboot is happening because money. Which, it is what it is, let’s face it, but I just hate thinking how, if they’re being worked on at the same time, the quality might suffer on one or the other, and I have a nagging feeling that it would be the PPG that would suffer, especially since I don’t really detect that same genuinely excited feeling he seems to have about the Foster’s thing when he’s talking about the PPG. …I dunno. I just feel like the, “Stop, stop, he’s already dead!” kid and I don’t want the series to needlessly suffer more. 🫠

Also that whole “bigger battles, tougher stakes,” etc., thing for the PPG… like, yeah, sounds cool I guess, but I hope it’s fun? It sounds like the edgy kind of tagline I would hear from these kinds of animation bros who want a darker, super-bloodier, serious PPG. I, too, love a good brawl and some gore now and then, but there is…… a balance. I hope he doesn’t veer too off-course in an attempt to make the series what other people haven’t made it. It’s a cursed enough series for something like that to happen. I dunno. I am trying my HARDEST to stay neutral about it guys, I am going to try to just bleach my brain and forget anything being said about the reboot. 😩

Your hands pushed Hyunwoo’s away as he tried to come up behind you and wrap his arms around you. A hug wasn’t what you were in the mood for, especially when your self-esteem found itself at a new low.

“Why are you pushing me away?” Hyunwoo asked as soon as you put his hands back down so that they were by his sides.

Your head shook nervously, “you shouldn’t have to hug someone like me Hyunwoo, I know you probably only do it because you want to be nice.”

Confusion washed upon his face as he continued to look across at you. “Hugging you is by far one of my favourite things to do in the world, I want to hug someone like you because you’re my favourite person Y/N.”

“But look at me right now Hyunwoo.”

His head nodded as he looked at you, “I don’t see what the problem is. You look great in my opinion, that’s why I want to hug you.”

“Are you really sure about that?”

“I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it. You might not see yourself like I see you, but just know that I see greatness in you.”

“Thank you, I really needed that.”

Minhyuk:

His eyes followed your gaze to where you were looking, sinking down on the park bench as you watched a group of women working out. It didn’t take much for Minhyuk to work out why you were looking their way.

“Don’t watch them, watch me,” he suggested, trying your best to capture your attention and stop you feeling bad about yourself.

Your eyes timidly looked across in Minhyuk’s direction, “it’s unfair that some people get to look so good when I’m stuck looking like this, a mess.”

Minhyuk’s eyebrows knitted together as you spoke, struggling to believe what he was hearing from you. “If there is one thing that you are definitely not, it’s a mess, you know I think that you’ve never looked better.”

“Are you alright? Feeling a little unwell?”

A quiet chuckle came from Minhyuk, “I feel fine, because I know that I’m just being honest even if you can’t necessarily see it in yourself.”

“I look horrible, unlike all of them.”

“I don’t think they look great at all, and I bet there are thousands of people who would probably agree with me on that too.”

“That definitely is an exaggeration.”

Kihyun:

It broke Kihyun’s heart as he watched you spin around and around as you tried to find the right angle to study yourself in the mirror. No matter how hard you tried, it didn’t work, you were still left defeated.

“I think you look great,” a voice spoke up as a soft sigh escaped from you, “why are you being so hard on yourself there Y/N?”

You looked to Kihyun through the mirror’s reflection, “I look horrendous Kihyun, there’s no side of me that I like right now, it’s all just a bit naff.”

Kihyun stood up from where he sat and walked across to join you in front of the mirror. “From where I’m standing you look incredible from all angles, there is not a single view that doesn’t look great to me.”

“You’re just trying to be nice to me.”

His head shook in reply straight away, “I mean every single word, you might not see how amazing you are, but I definitely see all of it in you.”

“You really think that it’s there?”

“Of course. Don’t be so hard on yourself, for me, and trust me when I tell you that you look absolutely great right now.”

“I’ll trust in you, like always.”

Hyungwon:

The lack of expression on your face was something that Hyungwon spotted as soon as you walked into the bedroom. Your shoulders were dropped as you entered your wardrobe, placing your jumper back inside.

“What’s wrong?” He asked as soon as you turned around and met his eyes, “I thought you liked that hoodie, why are you putting it back?”

It took you a moment to speak as you tried your best to stay composed. “It’s not fitting me anymore, even my favourite hoodie is too small, that’s ridiculous.”

Hyungwon quickly patted the space beside him on the bed for you to sit down beside him. “I’m sure it still fits you, you’re just too harsh on yourself. I don’t see any difference in you for it not to fit you anymore.”

“I think I’ve put on a few pounds.”

Hyungwon nodded in response to you, “that’s natural,” he assured you, “you shouldn’t beat yourself up for that, I’ve put on a little bit of weight myself.”

“But you’re stick thin anyway.”

“And you look incredible too. Why don’t you try it on for me and let me see what I think about how it looks on you?”

“Alright, but I bet it won’t look great.”

Jooheon:

His eyes watched as you continued to spin your food around on your plate, barely eating a thing. Jooheon had finished a long time ago, waiting until you finished to get up from the table, whenever that would be.

“Are you not hungry tonight?” Jooheon eventually found himself asking you as his patience began to wear thin as you sat not eating a thing.

Your eyes immediately looked across the table at the sound of his voice, “I think the portion is a bit too big, that’s probably why I’m like I am right now.”

His eyes narrowed as he quickly picked up on what it was that you were trying to say to him. “Like what? There’s nothing wrong with how you are Y/N, you’re amazing and kind and you look beautiful to me.”

“But I eat too much, don’t I Jooheon?”

His head shook as soon as you finished speaking, “you eat as much as you’re comfortable with and that’s the most important thing, nothing else than that.”

“I still think I could eat a bit less.”

“If that’s something that you want to do, then I will support you in doing that, but don’t feel as if you have to do it for anyone.”

“I’m not, I’m doing this just for me.”

I.M:

The tension in your body was something that Changkyun just couldn’t ignore as he stood beside you. Your eyes were watching all over the place, trying your best to stay composed as idol after idol passed you by.

“Are you alright?” Changkyun whispered into your ear once he managed to pull you aside, “you shouldn’t be watching other people Y/N.”

Your shoulders shrugged back across at him, “I can’t help it. I’m just watching all of these figures, incredible figures, this isn’t a place that I belong Changkyun.”

His head shook straight away, pulling you tighter into his side. “You do belong here because you’re here with me. In my eyes, you’re the best-looking person in this room tonight, and I’m not just saying that either.”

“Have you seen everyone else here tonight?”

The smile on his face quickly turned up, “I have seen every single one of them and I still think that none of them look anywhere near as good as you do.”

“I think you need your eyes testing.”

“And I think that you need to trust me a little more. I mean it Y/N, and I’ll keep telling you it all night long too if I need to.”

“You’re the sweetest, thank you Chang.”

Another Halloween request from my deactivated account.

"Hey, I just saw that the askbox is open. I would like to ask for an mc who is an absolute Halloween lover and for him, Halloween is like a second Christmas. For this reason, he also wants to set up a haunted house. Please a scenario with Diasomnia!"

You and the Diasomnia squad transform the Ramshackle dorm into a Haunted House on Halloween.

“HUH??”, the four of them voiced their confusion in unison. You just told them they had to help you turn Ramshackle into a haunted house, standing before them with several bags full of binders and posters to show them all your ideas.

After you explained to them how Halloween means the world to you and hearing about the upcoming Night Raven College Halloween festival, you really wanted to contribute by turning your dorm into a haunted house, or mansion to be precise. Your excitement slowly creeping onto them, infecting everyone to a degree to be excited about this as well, wanting to help you now. You also explained that you managed to persuade Headmaster Crowley to agree to this, although he will not take any responsibility if something goes wrong. But to be honest, you didn’t expect him to and you were confident in your organization skills.

So you went into the living room to spread out the material and ideas you compiled ever since you heard of the festival. You gave your presentation of how the haunted house needs to be decorated. You will have some scarecrow at the graveyard and some spiderwebs decorating the house. The interior needs to be changed into an abandoned house again, so you will have to put fake dust in there and put all the lights away and instead change them to candles and so forth, your ideas are endless, even asking to “borrow” some students from Diasomnia to act as the undead and crazy people, scaring the visitors with bloody performances, literally and jump scares because who doesn’t love that! You also ask them to use some magic to make the eyes of the portraits following the visitors and other such stuff like playing with the light and making scary faces appear in them. Of course, you will also be there and spook the visitors.

Spending the whole day explaining the whole concept to them and asking for their opinion on what is actually possible to do and their input on things. Lilia is the most invested one, with Malleus seeing this as a great opportunity to learn more about human customs and Silver and Sebek just going along with it because of them both, they do slightly enjoy it although not admitting so.

Days later, after a lot of hard work and a LOT of frustration, where Lilia had to calm you down and unintentionally scare you with him trying to make you some feel-good food, the haunted house was set and ready to go. Admiring the view and basking in the joy of the Halloween spirit. “Huh, guess all your ideas came to fruition, but with your precise instructions and your burning passion for this project, I had no doubt about it becoming so magnificent!”, Lilia states with an amused tone.

You sprint over to welcome the first visitor, it was Malleus. “What are you doing here? You already know the ins and outs of it...”, you ask confused. He gets surprised and tells you he wanted to experience it as a visitor nonetheless and see the fruits of your hard labor firsthand. You get a bit excited, being praised by not only Lilia but Malleus as well. You know you did an amazing job but having your efforts acknowledges by others feels great. Malleus walks further into the building when Sebek comes running to you. “Have you seen Young Master??”, Sebek looks with astonishing speed through the room. “Yes, he is here as a visitor of the haunted house, he just went further in.”, showing him the direction with your hand. “AH, why didn’t you alert me?... Oh, before I forget next time do not sue the Young Lord to help you out, he has a lot to do and should not be distracted by you human...but you did a great job...”, he tells you before rushing off. You sigh, they all have such intense personalities, but you guess that is part of their charm. Suddenly you hear some noise behind you, you turn to see Silver has been sleeping sitting on the floor but somehow managed to fall sideways and making a broom fall on the floor. You have to struggle to hold in your laughter, seeing him still sleep peacefully despite the ruckus he made. You decide to wake him and ask him why he is sleeping right here. “I wanted to follow my duty of being Malleus guard but he said he needed to go in there alone and I should just wait here for him to come out. It’s really comfortable despite the creepy setting so don’t worry. But I am impressed by the work you’ve done, this place looks so different and your creativity has no limits....perhaps you could teach me sometime?”. You laugh involuntarily, telling him you appreciate the compliment but there is not much to teach him, creativity will come on its own, there is no trick to it.

Hours pass by and the clock strikes midnight, implying Halloween is now over and you all have to return to your respective dorms, you thank everyone. As you watch them leave, you can’t help but wish Halloween could be celebrated for just as long as Christmas...Looking longingly at your now empty dorm, deciding to leave the decoration be for a bit longer before walking back to your room and going to sleep.

15. Haru

Rebel. Beautiful with and without the moustache. He freed his village from Fire Nation and he didn’t get captured on the day of the black sun. What an absolute king. I had a crush on him because I have good taste in men. HARU FOR EARTH KING!!!

14. Aang

This may be controversial but just hear me out. I don’t hate Aang first of all. He is a good avatar and he did his job all the time. He learnt all bending forms and took down the earth king in what?? A year?? Two years?? Amazing. He stuck to his morals and didn't kill Flopzai. He had a sick tattoo. HE’S THE AVATAR IT’S HIS SHOW. Now. With that being said. He is so ANNOYING. I am so sorry. He is. Out of the main five (Katara, Sokka, Aang, Toph and Zuko) in my opinion, he is the least interesting as a character. Like they could have added more depth. We never really saw him grieve over the loss of his ENTIRE POPULATION. He got a bit mad and moved on. Also let’s be real. Katara, Sokka and Toph were carrying him the whole time. Like most of the plans were from Katara and Sokka They were the masterminds and the backbones of the Gaang. I’m not saying Aang didn’t do anything, but without Katara and Sokka he would be toast. Alson can i just say I don't blame Aang for running away when and getting trapped in ice for 100 years when he found out his duty because same. Now for the REALLY controversial bit. AANG ENDED UP WITH KATARA WHEN SHE SHOULD’VE BEEN WITH ZUKO! THERE! I SAID IT! I could explain why but It would take too long. So to conclude, Aang is great and I like him if course I do but the other main four were better characters and that’s that. Aang can also do the air ball spinny thing which is awesome. 

13.  Ty Lee

DON’T GET ME STARTEDDD!!! SHE IS A QUEEN!!! SHE NEVER FLOPPED NEVER TANKED!!! She was backflipping, cartwheeling, chi blocking (bending?) What couldn't she do? The only one that could go up against mother Katara. Girls wanted to be her, Guys wanted to be with her. No one was doing it like her. Did you see her outfit?? The pink??? Amazing. She rode for Mai, that was her bestie, they were locked in. Chiblocked azula for Mai your bestie would never. 

12. Mai

The realest of the real. Hated her life but she loved Zuko. Real. Absolutely GAGGED Azula “I guess you miscalculated. I love Zuko more than I fear” OH??? My life was never the same. Betrayed Azula and her entire country for Zuko. Again too real. HER PARENTS ARE DUMB FLOPS THAT DON’T LET HER EXPRESS HERSELF. Bit mad. BUT SHE ALSO THROWS KNIVES!!!  I used to think she just had knife dispensers in her hands but the fact that she hand throws them is cooler. Monotone permanently and I love her for it. I place no blame on her for Zutara not happening.

Why is she so high??? Because she stood on business. She came back to life and said ”I killed that man, what about it” and dipped. Absolute menace. The makeup, the fans??? What else is there to say? Has a whole island and fanclub AS SHE SHOULD!!

Don’t get mad at me for this, and if anyone is anti-katara near me I will fight you. She DESTROYED THE PATRIARCHY HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE HER? She ended everyone who tried her. Left no witnesses. Was healing and battering people. MASTERED BLOODBENDING ON THE SAME NIGHT SHE LEARNT IT!!! MOTHER!!! LEGEND!!! QUEEN!!!! ENDED HAMA!!! The most responsible Gaang member, she was always looking out for them. But why is she number 12?? Icl…. she got on my nerves a BIT too much. Like, she just did too much sometimes. The most out of pocket thing was when she said sokka didn't love their mom as much as she did?? No need for that. Also, she was dragging out the “not forgiving zuko thing” girl just say you're heartbroken and move on. And she threw Toph in jail. Now Katara. Why. Apart from that and a few other things, literal icon. Her iconic hair loopies are iconic. I used to try to recreate it with my braids lmao. 

9. Suki

SUKIIIIII!!!!! SHE REFORMED SOKKA LITERALLY TURNED HIM INTO A SUFFRAGETTE, THE POWER SHE HOLDS!!! “I AM A WARRIOR BUT I AM A GIRL TOO!” NOT JUST ANY GIRL THE NO1 GIRL. WHAT DID SHE DO WRONG??? NOTHING!!! SHE HAS NO FLAWS!! SHE DEFIED PHYSICS AND CAPTURED THE PRISON WARDEN BY HERSELF!!! EFFORTLESSLY!!! YOUR FAVES COULD NEVER!!!

8. Azula

Guys she’s just misunderstood I swear. She was 14!!! 14 and she had grown ass men shaking in their boots. 14 and she was popping bitches left and right. Literally everyone failed: her mom, Flopzai, even zuko and iroh lowkey. My girl just wanted to be loved, it's not her fault. I'm gonna do a full character debrief on her. I have too much to say, but she is one of the most misunderstood and best characters ever written. She is so complex I literally watch psychology of azula video all the time. The way her character is written. Can't wait to get my psychology A Level so i can analyse her. The beach episode and her flirting had me crying. She's so funny, I love her. 

7. ZUKO

My first boyfriend. When he grew his hair out, six year old had heart eyes. Best redemption arc ever written and I stand by that. He was never evil, he just wanted his Dad’s love and also he is so awkward and funny. He’s so angry at everything I feel bad for him but can I talk about something. One of the most iconic moments of the show is when he did something good and his immune system SHUT DOWN. I was crying, that was so funny. Also, Iroh and Zuko together is comedy gold and also sentimental because Iroh found a son in zuko and Zuko found a father in Iroh. AH I CAN’TTT. Zuko stood up to his abusive uglyass dad and showed him that he can redirect lightning. Zuko teaches Aang to redirect it. In the final battle, Aang redirects the lightning and FLOPZAI’S FACEEEEE. I would therapise Zuko don’t worry. Poor Zuko. I’m gonna do a character debrief of him too because he is literally my first love.

6. Iroh

I wanna drink tea with him once. I know one conversation with him would change the trajectory of my life. Leaves from the vine deserves a Grammy. (Guys I think Iroh was a war criminal and everyone just forgets it nut I can’t make it go away from my head). Anyways he is so cool, he can breathe fire from his mouth. Laos, he kind of tanked when he just let Azula grow uo wit Ozai. but anyway, I love Iroh he’s such a cool guy. I hope hes having a blast in his tea shop. 

5. SOKKA (air horns sound)

First of all, he had unlimited game. He could pull anyone and everyone. Secondly, boomerang. Thirdly, manbun. Fourthly, he’s SOKKA. He was the comedic relief but I just love him so much. He wasn’t a bender but he was still battering people. He didn’t have that much depth till the last season but he was so brave and he had the Gaangs back no matter what. Like he never missed. He was prepared to break into the most secure prison ever to get his dad back like that's a true warrior. Do you know the episode where he goes to get the sword and the Gaang is bored because Sokka isn’t there. That’s how it was watching LOK except that it hurt more because he was dead. Also Sokka and Suki are a power couple. Literal couple of the series.

3. Appa

APPA!! The real MVP of the show. Carried everyone (literally). Was the bravest. Appa’s last days?? Actual depression serum. Like it’s so sad. Where is my Appa prequel, sequel, soin off show, book series and spin off of the book series WHERE IS IT??

2. TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best character on the show. Everything she did was iconic. Was an underground wrestling champion and nobody knew. Beat the everloving shit out of grown men BY HERSELF. She’s like four feet tall by the way. She sees with her feet. If that's not the coolest thing you've ever heard then I don't know what to say to you. If toph is not even in your top three then don't ever speak to me i am so serious. She was the only one who knew Zuko was being fr about switching sides. That’s my queen fr. SHE! INVENTED! METALBENDING! INVENTED IT! A WHOLE NEW FORM! SHE DID IT!!!!!!! What did your fave do???? That's right they flopped. Toph is the best bender in the show and the best character, argue with the wall.

This is half joke, half serious. Cabbage man is not only a victim but he's also secretly a scientist because how was he travelling the world at the same time as the Gaang with NO appa. King behaviour. I hope he got compensation because he lost so much money with all those destroyed cabbages. RIP.
