I always wondered if Dionysus, Demeter, Persephone, Hades, or other chthonic deities joined this council. If they did, since they had no role in the Trojan War, what were they doing? Playing Uno? And they were probably complaining about why Hermes isn't off duty yet.

I'm tired of the countless retellings where Zeus cheats in the lottery and Hades doesn't want to rule the Underworld. Not just because it's wrong, but because it's boring. Destroying all possibility of exploring the relationship between Zeus and Hades. A better idea? Rebuild the story of how Hades became king of the dead using different ancient sources. Honestly, I could make up three different versions right now based on these materials.

Also, if just one story called Demeter a "helicopter mom" and Hades the good guy, that might be fun. But when there are two or more? It's awful.

Look at how the Greeks and Romans tried to retell this story. Some of their long poems still exist. They added new details, tried to "fix" or "romanticize" it. For example, they said Hades acted out of love(1,2,3). Persephone ate the pomegranate seeds by accident and got stuck because of Ascalaphus (who reveal secrets)(4,5), not because Hades tricked her as in homeric hymn(6). But one thing never changes: the abduction of Persephone that starts Demeter's journey.

The Greeks and Romans knew: one would need another strong and meaningful reason to subvert the story. If they don't, they should go write another story.

in my opinion, many modern greek retellings/stories inspired by greek mythology don't fail because they're inaccurate. they fail because they have nothing new to say.

i don't mind changes to the original myths, as long as they make sense and they have a narrative purpose! i understand that making changes is sometimes necessary to convey a certain narrative, especially to modern audiences.

is epic the musical mythologically accurate? hell no! but the changes serve to tell a specific story and to convey a certain message. also, epic the musical is self aware about its "inaccuracies". and the music just bangs.

is hadestown accurate? no! does it make the change that I always dread, removing the kidnapping from the hades/persephone myth? yeah. but hadestown is barely about them, and it uses greek mythology as a "narrative frame" to tell a certain story. it has a point. it has a message.

what are stories like lore olympus trying to say? what is the messagge of the hundredth persephone/hades retelling? what are we supposed to take from them? "don't listen to your mother she's a bitch"? "mothers are irrational and you should forsake her for a man"? very feminist.

why are we still doing the medusa "feminist" retellings? it's BEEN done. too many times. and they're ALL the same. it's a worse crime than being bad: they are boring.

i'm tired of retellings that are just "what if this very famous story was THE OPPOSITE and the protagonist was an ASSHOLE the whole time and the villain was MISUNDERSTOOD and the real VICTIM" okay but why. why would that be the case. what's the point of the story you want to tell. or do you just want to use shock value.

of course, i dislike retellings that are so different from the myth that they go AGAINST the spirit/message of the original, because in that case what's even the point of retelling the myth? just tell an original story. but i would take stabbed posiedon and capitalist hades any day over the same basic story of medusa being a girlboss or demeter being bad because of... reasons?

they’re both fans of hatsune miku ; upbeat was a fan because of her music, play-yan on the other hand… he may blast miku music from the sky.

follow up ; they have both dressed as miku at least once (in play’s case, people drew him as miku back in the day, and for upbeat is that one ievan polkka custom remix) and probably took a picture with a miku standee together (your interpretation)

they would sometimes watch smash tournaments together, but once they watch a tournament where their favorites/mains are up against each other, that’s a different story.

their first meeting was a chance encounter. upbeat was trying to find a place to calm down at night, which was in an unknown area in a forest, then play found him during a night walk. but little did they know they would be seeing each other way more often since that night

they never skip leg day.

a more obvious one, but once fused together, they could possibly resemble a stepswitcher because of their similarities ; play-yan as the light half and upbeat as the dark half. this also happens if they have a child together

play-yan would sometimes stop by the workplace where the other endless game / rhythm toy characters are. he gets along really well with love-san.

play-yan is definitely a kirby fan. also mr. upbeat is canonically a fan of mr. game and watch

With ADHD, the brain’s emotional regulation system is already sensitive, which amplifies the impact of rejection or criticism.

Opening the biodata module is the most direct way to recover a Time Lord's memories. Im having a vision of a lighthouse on a stormy night. Lighting dances around the sky to the beat of the thunder. This particular lighthouse is built in the water rather than on land. The sea surrounding it is deep, murky, and tumultuous. This lighthouse stands alone. I’m watching as the waves get bigger, crashing up against the lighthouse in all directions. The force of each crash getting stronger with each blow. Just when you think the lighthouse is gonna get wiped out, when the waves clear, you can see that the lighthouse is still standing firm and strong, fulfilling its purpose. As I sit here observing the vision, I can’t help but wonder how a lighthouse located in the scariest part of the ocean, is still standing as a beacon despite how obviously strong the force of the ocean is in comparison to itself. There’s no way a lighthouse of that size can handle the blows of this stormy sea…..and yet it does.

💢Something about the muse that annoys you?

This actually took me a long time to think about how I will approach this question and the response that I will give because I may sound extremely shallow but there isn't anything in particular that annoys me about this muse but rather --- several misconceptions of the fandom ( not within the rpc ) So you could say that what annoys me is that people tend to scratch the surface of this guy with hollow assumptions that I abhor, rather than dive deeper to his characterization.

✍ Favorite thing about writing the muse?

OH BOYYY. There are a lot of things I love when it comes to writing this guy here, which is hard for me to choose but since I have to, I am going to say two things, because I just can't choose one.

First one is I love writing him showing / sharing his wisdom.

It goes without saying that Sōsuke has an extraterrestrial amount of knowledge and wisdom. Such an usettling amount to the point of being perceived incomprehensible by many, often mistaken for manipulator. I have mentioned before that despite his nature, he can be a great conversationalist if the right opportunity presents itself. He can keep a discussion going without sounding repetitive or throwing hollow facts, but rather --- being influential / informative, eventually making said conversation very interesting.

Albeit not being approachable, once approached and being in the right circumstance if that makes sense, Sōsuke would gladly offer his piece of mind, a piece of wisdom of his own. Keep in mind: that he does not do this for the sake of assisting you in expanding your knowledge or whatever. This is almost something natural to him, and his days during a tutor in the Shin'ō Academy had enhanced this habit of his. This could also be perceived as his own monadical way in planting seeds for his own beneficial endeavours. But even if that is not the case, Sōsuke is a person that would offer knowledge because as mentioned, it feels natural to him. It could also be interpret as a means of superiority, but had he wanted to go that route, he would have done it in far more efficacious ways.

Perhaps this is also a way to observe your reaction upon receiving information that you have never heard before in your life, yet proven pivotal in the future.

Another thing that I love writing this guy? Him speaking about his goals.

I love writing him speaking his mind when it comes to Soul Society, the governship existing alongside with the falseness of a Soul King. Because it goes deeper than just ' becoming a God because I can ', obviously. Whilst I am not taking away the fact that he does have the desire to reach godhood because of his supreme prowess, there's indeed, more than that. Sōsuke had voiced his opinion of his place but we haven't seen so much of it unfortunately, hence I love writing such part of him, since it is very important to his character, alongside with the other muses he interacts with.

💡 What inspires you to write the muse? 

A lot of things. Mostly regarding the series, such as re - reading favourite moments, since Sōsuke had said so many quotes that are extremely important to his character and very impactful as a whole. Such quotes of his give me so much inspiration to expore as to why he said it or where did that stem from, you know? reading various theories that have potential of being actualized is another good choice, to be honest. Not that I would agree with all of them but many of them had definitely caught my attention. Furthermore, I enjoy reading references about him, like dive deep into symbolism that could even stem from religion, because I find it so fascinating that a fictional character can have so much significance behind him, even from a mere full name.

I also love listening to songs that could define my muse, that helps a lot especially if their meaning / lyrics align perfectly with my vision of Sōsuke. I have mentioned this several times before but everytime I listen to Rotting Christ or Sakis Tolis ( the vocalist of the band, has his own solo career as well ) I get so much inspiration to write Sōsuke as the transcendental entity that he is, that not many people could comprehend with the reality that exists within him and what he has eventually become.

Also, sharing ideas for potential threads and potential dynamics. ( again, in an non - shipping way, as I do not ship with this guy ) It goes without saying that despite Sōsuke's inner complexity that prohibits himself from engaging in more than just acquaintances, there are so many dynamics that I want to explore, alongside with future interactions with characters that I really need to have him interacting with. Even with characters that I never expected to have interactions with, new concepts, especially in crossovers which i absolutely adore, there are so many ideas that have yet to be voiced.

📝 Favorite headcanon for your muse? 

This was such a tough answer because there's a few headcanons that I enjoy writing about this guy and worked really hard on perfecting them. ( and still do if they need some changes ) but the one that made me the happiest to write was Kyōka Suigetsu. The spirit's personality and appearance alongside with the actual and illusionary inner world and the irony / parallel behind all of this. Not to mention that this headcanon birthed my url, in which aftapati means disillusion in greek.
