To his surprise, he finds creative inspiration—and unexpected feelings—spending time with Apollo. Now if only he could release the new tracks without raising any suspicion as to whom his love songs are for. Do...I even need to say anything I think this one is one of the most well known fics, ive seen it in pretty much every fic rec post so far.

Honestly, when I read the summary I wasnt expecting to like it at all because this is usually not the kinda premise I'm into buuut I read it anyway because I liked the authors other works and man I had such a good time and many good laughs. The Main Event by ItsyRoyal Apollo had no idea that the flirty busker outside of his favorite cafe was his boss's brother. To be fair, Apollo also had no idea his boss had a brother. Theres a specific line around the end of the fic that had me wheezing. The rest of the fic is of course really good too!! The Definition Of Home by Hikari_Kaitou All Apollo wanted was to go right home after the legal conference in Seattle, instead of spending the night like his colleagues. He's never been able to sleep well in unfamiliar places. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond his control prevent him from returning to LA as planned, and in desperation he turns to Klavier for help. Klavier generously opens up his hotel room to him, which in turn leads Apollo to opening up his heart. Agh just. read it. Loved it. 13 Hours by Powerpossessor Apollo and Klavier are stuck together in a 13 hour layover. Stupid and hilarious antics ensue. Apollo Justice has rotten luck: he actually wins the grand prize for a mail-in contest, but It's a couple's getaway to a fancy ski lodge in the mountains and Apollo is aggressively single. With no one to go with, Apollo offers them to Klavier since surely, a rockstar would be able to find a date before then, but Klavier has a better idea—they go together and pretend they're a couple. That way, they both get a vacation, plus free food and wine.

if I had a nickel every time an episode in Ace Attorney involves a murder orchestrated by a pair of partners-in-crime where:

the one who wanted the victim dead and who's calling the shots is the yang-esque partner, an orange/red-coloured and explicitly cat-coded villain antagonist man with a misleadingly nice title/nickname/slogan ("tender"; "refreshing" etc) that doesn't suit his real nature + a bright conspicuous motorbike that is currently out of use, whose main thing is acting i.e. playing different characters & roles, and is able to fool many around him with his act, who is the primary antagonist or "real" bad guy in the episode narratively and,

the one who was enlisted by the cat-coded biker to help with the murder is the yin-esque partner, a black/white-coloured character with an ostentatious visible sign of past injury on their head and an eerie aura designated to invoke fear & creepiness from the moment they appear on screen, who consistently makes it sound as if they might kill you or someone else any second when they speak, but is ultimately treated as less antagonistic/more sympathetic than cat biker by the narrative.

and

cat biker stars as the leading role of their murderous two-man act, while the scary accomplice plays a supporting role in the background costumed in the uniform of the service job (e.g. maid, butler, waitress, bellboy) they're disguising themselves in.

despite serving the cat biker, scary accomplice is actually far more powerful in reality and both of them know it. scary accomplice's last name is infamously powerful in the criminal underworld and strikes terror into people's hearts; when brought up to the law enforcement for the first time, the player is told that other outlaws fear them and the police can't reach them.

cat biker acts tough and intimidating with the rogue face he puts on but he's actually a coward absolutely terrified of scary accomplice's actual power, because he knows the only reason they hasn't got him dead yet is that he is still on the accomplice's good side and they trust him.

and

the duo carries out the murder according to cat biker's wish but they're unsatisfied without making sure biker never gets convicted, so they decide to take a step further and mess with the lawyering as well. so they target phoenix wright personally, which eventually becomes their undoing because it just pushes him to find out the truth even more.

moreover, phoenix hates betrayal personally, and during his search he finds out that cat biker has been deceiving scary accomplice all along, despite scary accomplice's strong devotion to and forceful dedication to trusting cat biker. cat biker also even expresses his contempt toward them for this foolish trust behind them

phoenix breaks the truth about this betrayal to scary accomplice but couldn't get through until he provides evidence with the correct explanation, because accomplice has wanted to trust cat biker. after phoenix gets the truth through, scary accomplice completely turns against cat biker and wants him punished, which eventually helps phoenix gets him convicted and jailed with the help of unconventional methods

...I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but,

did you know that AA2: Justice for All was originally going to have 5 episodes, and Recipe for Turnabout was supposed to be 2-4 while Farewell, My Turnabout was originally meant to be 2-5, before they ran out of space and switched Recipe for Turnabout out for AA3 instead?

which means if it went as planned, Recipe for Turnabout would've been right before Farewell, My Turnabout. I wonder if that means this parallel could actually have been not completely unintentional?

anyway it's hilarious to me to think that Farewell, My Turnabout (the Engarde & De Killer case) would've been exactly one case after Recipe for Turnabout (the Tigre & Viola case) and exactly one case before the Dahlia & Phoenix case (Dahlia is a villain tied to the theme of deceit + comparable to Matt, while Phoenix is all about trust and trusting your clients + foils Shelly). fellas is it gay to strongly parallel not one, but multiple doomed godawful dysfunctional canonical m/f romances thematically

Just Like the Good Ol’ Days

AN: Finally getting around to the last couple of tickletober fics, but it’s gonna be slow cause I have the last few projects & finals coming up. But I promise more will be coming your way! Not to mention squealing santa right around the corner!

It was impossible to say no to Larry Butz. If the matter were serious enough, then sure, but it was a rare exception. Larry just had a way about him that guilted you into doing whatever he asked. Which was why Edgeworth found himself stuck in the middle of the couch, sandwiched between his friends as a cheap horror movie played on tv.

Larry had been nagging both himself and Wright about "getting the gang back together" and having a sleepover like they used to. At first he thought it was a joke. What were three grown men supposed to even do at a sleepover? Apparently watch movies he'd never bothered to see and eat more junk food than God intended. He couldn't remember the last time he had so much fun.

They ended up lost in conversation, reminiscing on days of old when things were more simple and life felt easy.

Or at least, that's how it all had started. Miles was currently trying his hardest to pay attention to the movie and ignore the tickle fight happening right next to him.

Larry was always a stubborn one. As soon as Phoenix stood to go to the bathroom, Larry stretched his legs out in his previous seat. When the lawyer returned, he'd refused to move, claiming there was "enough room" on the edge of the cushion. There decidedly was not enough room.

Phoenix sat down on his outstretched legs, immediately scribbling his fingers over the trapped soles. Larry thrashed about and screamed in laughter, all to no avail.

Edgeworth sat on the other end of the couch, stiff as a board as he tried his hardest to ignore the playful tussle happening next to him. He stared intently at the screen, silently wishing they made horse blinders for people.

"E-Edgehehehey! Hehehelp a guy out!" Larry cried, breaking him out of his trance. He flinched and glanced over. Phoenix had his legs in a headlock, scribbling relentlessly over his socked soles. He met Edgeworth's gaze and smiled brightly.

"Yeah, help me make him move!"

"NO DON'T!"

Edgeworth was frozen like a deer caught in headlights.

"If it's all the same to you, I'd like to watch the movie."

Phoenix stilled his hand, a small frown tugging his lips downward. Miles was back to staring at the screen as Phoenix and Larry shared a look. Maybe if he hadn't been so focused on tuning them out, he would've noticed the shift in targets.

As it was, he didn't notice until it was too late and his back met the couch cushions.

"What are-" he tried to speak but clamped his mouth shut before an embarrassingly high pitched giggle slipped out. His friends had wasted no time as their hands sought out his most sensitive spots. Their memories seemed to serve them well.

"Oh c'mon Edgey! I know you wanna laugh!"

Larry called out, scribbling against the backs of his knees. Miles snorted and kicked out futilely.

“You know we know all your worst spots!” Phoenix added, wrestling his arms above his head and digging in his exposed pit with his free hand. The damn was now cracked, and a flood of laughter poured out.

It was stupid and childish, and completely unbearable, but on the other hand, it felt good to laugh with them again. Just like old times.

Gaming Thoughts - November 2023 - Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

I could have still done Xenoblade X again for this month because I've been playing that quite a bit too. But I decided to at least break it up a little bit with another game that I've been playing lately when I'm not at my Wii-U. Since there are a few postgame puzzles that is only accessable to get with online access to download them (they don't use the eshop so they are still obtainable right now) I decided to try to get them before the online as a whole is shut down.

But honestly. I wish I would have played this game sooner because I am loving it a lot, especially the characters. I always loved the Ace Attorney games moreso out of the two because of the characters and the writing and this is no exception for that as well. And being able to cross-examine multiple witnesses at the same time is an interesting gameplay addition that I would love to see in more games as well.

Though the Layton half of the game is also still just as fun as well, especially the puzzles to help break things up, but I haven't found any yet that were super hard or frustrating to have to use hint coins or look them up as opposed to some of the DS Layton Games.

Anyways, still, if you are a fan of either games this is still something I would highly recommend. Also...I will be honest...Zacharias Barnham has become one of my favourite characters in the game too. <3 (Though I have noticed that I have found myself commonly enjoying the prosecutor characters in any of the Ace Attorney games, and this is no exception to the matter either)

I have yet to finish the game, but I'm hitting the last chapter and god I am expecting there to be quite the reveal as well once I finish the chapter too because the overarching mystery is really developing in an interesting direction.

thank you for the tag @ghostradiodylan it has been such a long time since I've done a tag for anything & i desperately need a break from the writing/editing nightmare

1. three ships: Max Brinly/Laura Kearney own my soul, it's not even funny. i wish them every happiness forever. i'm also a firm believer in Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth & i will never stop rotating them in my brain. let's go with Steven Universe/Connie Maheswaren bc i love them & if i keep thinking about ships i like, it will completely derail me

2. first ever ship: Ryan & Chad from high school musical. please don't ask me to elaborate

3. last song: "Weirdest Science" by Mo Mo O'brien which is an absolute banger that i stand by 100% (altho i could put together a whole playlist on songs i want everyone to hear) but an honorable mention to Mothica bc i have been looping their albums for a few days

4. last film: i forced my cousins to watch "Aliens in the Attic" bc it was one of my favorite films as a kid & neither of them had heard of it so i needed to enlighten them. that movie is insane & nonsensical & i love it so much

5. currently reading: i've been, admittedly pretty bad about reading full, published books lately & i alwasy pull back from reading when i'm on a writing craze. i was knee-deep in "Solar Lunacy" by bamsara before i had to break for writing (highly recommend for any fnaf fans who somehow haven't seen it) but in my free time, i've been rereading "Every Last Word" by Tamara Ireland Stone which was my favorite book in high school & not just bc the girl i was in love with recommended it & loaned me her copy. that's uhhhhh unrelated

6. currently watching: at the moment of typing this, i'm watching one of Danny Gonzalez's reviews of a disney movie. in general, my cousin & i have been rewatching some criminal minds but other than that, i'm between shows

7. currently consuming: seaweed bc i'm cursed with the desire for the Salty Ocean Leaf. it's actually rlly good

“Hey,” Maya says, finally finding the will to stride forward, one hand balanced on her hip. “When was the last time you actually got some rest?”

Franziska doesn’t acknowledge her. Which is likely an answer in itself. 

Holy shit.

“Franziska!” She raises her voice. “Hey, earth to the prosecution, do you read me?”

She punctuates the statement with a few hurried snaps of her fingers. This sound, for whatever reason, is what jolts Franziska back into her body—she blinks herself awake, pulling her eyes away from her screen and back up to Maya. Only when her face is angled upward does Maya see just how bruiselike the bags under her eyes are—it’d looked like a trick of the lighting, but…

“Babe, you haven’t left this room in…” she eyes the analog clock on the far wall, “twelve hours?! Are you coming to bed, or should I just take my little bindle and walk away all sadly with my big wet baby animal eyes?”

“I…” Franziska’s eyes dart back to the screen, “I won’t be much longer. Please, don’t wait up on my account, dear.”

“Franzzzyyyyy,” Maya whines, drawing closer and resisting the urge to drape herself like a needy cat over her girlfriend’s desk. “It’s not just that. I’m worried about you.”

Franziska blinks. “Hm? Why on earth is that?”

“Do you not see how insanely hard you’re working?” Her face twists in concern. “Like, it’s super cool how dedicated you are, but…. This can’t be good for you.”

“I assure you, it’s par for the course.” Maya watches as she smooths out her hair a bit, clearly growing aware of how frazzled she must look. “I suppose it would seem a bit shocking when you’re used to the likes of Phoenix Wright…”

“Hey! Nick works hard too. You know your youthful stride can’t compare with his old man energy, though.”

Brightening despite her obvious exhaustion, Franziska stifles one of her adorable little laughs into a cupped hand. For a moment, Maya forgets she’s supposed to be frustrated with the girl—that sound is divine, she’ll never tire of hearing it. The feeling of it there in her heart spills over, and then Maya’s drawing close, leaning over to meet Franziska there in her desk chair. Gingerly, then, she holds Franziska’s beautiful, chiseled jaw in the palm of her hand, rubbing soft circles into her beloved’s cheek. 

“Please come to bed?” Maya croons. “If you don’t I’m gonna miss you so much, and then I’ll die of a broken heart, and who’s gonna prosecute you when you’re charged for my murder? Edgeworth? Are you gonna let Edgeworth do that?”

“I highly doubt it will come to that, Schatzi,” Franziska says. “Do get some rest. I’ll join you as soon as I’m able.”

Franziska speaks it with such a tenderness to her, Maya almost can’t find it in her heart to be upset. That low, whispery sort of rasp she always talked in, on these late nights when no one could peer into the room and see her, walls down—Maya loved her like this, imperfect and soft. She loved even more that she was one of the few allowed to see it. 

Still, there’s something heavy that wells in her chest in the finality of the statement. That was that, then—Franziska was committed to running herself ragged, late nights and early mornings and little time for Maya at all. The selfish aspect of it truly wasn’t what guided Maya into that office—more than anything, she was just really concerned—but it didn’t feel great, either. Steeling herself, she tries to remind herself of the circumstances of why she’s here, but before she can lose herself in the thought there’s a hand on her face and a very, very beautiful girl kissing her lips. 

The blow, if it can even be called that, is softened. Maya leans into the embrace, feeling utterly breathless. 

Franziska, similarly, seems to hesitate in pulling away. Maya knows she must, though—she’s a legend, after all, and crime does not sleep. She wishes it did, though—if only so that one single, heart-stopping fox of a prosecutor had more time to spend on kissing her silly. 

“You spilled coffee in your lap,” Maya says, romantically, “bee tee dubs.”

Still holding Maya’s face, Franziska dumbly angles her eyes down, cheeks pink. “...so it seems.”

“Night, babe. I love you.”

“And I you, my dear.”

tl;dr is that Professor layton helped w trauma, listed is the journey through the games and future hype for PLWoS

So, I recently got into professor layton (a year ago, to be specific) and I must say, It has helped me SO FUCKIN MUCH WITH SO MUCH TRAUMA--

I have schizoeffective disorder. I have severe PTSD from years of mental and physical abuse from my parents. I have ADHD and may also be autistic, getting tested at 25 years is difficult.

When I started Professor Layton, I decided to play in release order--"I want to experience what long time fans experienced." I felt it would be more genuine. So, I downloaded an emulator (yeah i know, bad Vero) and started to play. I wrote down my reactions to each game after i beat them:

PLCB: THIS MAN GOT CHASED BY A FERRIS WHEEL!!!! THATS COOL AF! It was a really fun game, cool story with neat puzzles tHaT wErE hArD aF (i was kind of nonchalant about the games, just getting into them)

PLPB: ayo he got a box OH WAIT HE DED--i enjoyed the gameplay and watching the bad guy be the bad guy. interesting sequel, hopefully luke stays with the professor a long time lol (I jinxed it lol, also felt a bit more connected to Luke as a character and his admiration for Hershel)

(I took a long break after this one due to college lol but now i just play after my homework is done)

PLLF: I didnt write anything after this one. i just sat in silence for about a week, and I didnt eat for a few days. This was when my foster dad died, and i felt strangely as if i had healed a lot. After that week. I guess I just kinda took the time to process the loss of someone who i consider my true father. It was at this point I realized that playing the games had helped. I also didnt mentally process that luke left the professor lol until i watched someones playthrough of the last part of the game again

PLSC: BRO ITS LUKE AGAIN BUT HES YOUNGER AND HAS TRUST ISSUES WTF ITS MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE except luke didnt go through massive trauma (unless you count the ghost stuff and the witch stuff and the house stuff as trauma) yeah i like it very good

PLMM: RANDALL IS WAY TOO FUCKIN HOT FOR MY LIKING I JUST NNNNNGGGUHHUHUHUH also SIBLING BINDING WOOOOOOOOOOO

I am currently playing through Azran Legacy, and I must say it lives up to the hype. Havent reached the ending tho so im trying to not run into spoilers. also I know descole is sycamore im not dumb THEY LITERALLY LOOK ALIKE AND THE BUTLER IS THE SAME WTF if theyre not the same person im gonna spazzzzzzzz

All in all, I plan on figuring out how to a b s o r b all the content from the spin offs (in order to do this i also want to play all the phoenix wright games, wish me luck lol) and will eventually get the Katrielle game.

I have a lot to do in preparation for New World of Steam! I hope im able to do it in time, and also that its just as good as the previous games. I know Quizknock will do a good job, its just whether i will enjoy it or not.
