I don't get how there are people who prefer Kirby Super Star to Kirby Super Star Ultra when the latter is just the same game but greatly expanded
Pokémon fans are known for being easily nostalgiabaited but man they're not the only ones

looking into the possibility of filling the natdex in platinum and again i come back to these two bastards who make me despise pokemon's arbitrary version difference bullshit even more than i do
Tumblr media
i have two copies of pearl, glameow is not an issue, but neither me nor my sister have ever had a copy of diamond. i could go out of my way to start several savefiles to obtain all the starters i need, trade with myself for evolutions and other pokemon you can't get in platinum, but im never ever going to be able to get my hands on a "legitimate" stunky unless i try my luck with the unofficial gts servers which don't look terribly active for gen4 games, or happen to find out one of my friends has a copy of diamond and a ds for it, which afaik is not a thing really
i get that there's supposed to be charm in cooperating with others to achieve goals like filling the pokedex. but i am never going to stop despising gamefreak for locking pokemon away like this, where they're only available in a single variant of one game and nowhere else

Just spitballing some random pokethoughts...
Eternatus and the Darkest Day happened in Galar 3,000 year ago, and at the same time AZ made the Ultimate Weapon in Kalos, again 3,000 years ago.
And the two events lead to Devon co. studying Mega Evolution to develop Infinity Energy, and Macro Cosmos studying Dynamax and Power Spots to develop Rose's power plant. "Eternal" and "Infinite."
And the Eternatus power plant logo strongly resembles the new logo in the Z-A trailer.
And in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, the Infinity Energy was ultimately used to save the day by teleporting the Delta meteor into another universe. getting Mega Rayquaza to destroy the Delta meteor. And Eternatus fell to Earth on a meteorite (20,000 years ago).
Delta(Δ) being the mathematical variable for "Change," and obviously being a play on the Greek letter motif(ΩA). And of course Alpha and Omega as a pair are best known as the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet(and the biblical "Beginning and the End")
So, go figure, ΩA is a synonym with ZA, so the title ...Z-A can be understood as "(from)The End to The Beginning," the reverse reading of A-Z as "A to Z."
There are two kings who helped defeat Eternatus who apparently at some point shared a bloodline? (Did their descendents marry later, or were the two kings already related?) Tragically their bloodline produced the brothers Shieldbert and Swordward.
AZ was a former king of Kalos and is succeeded by a younger brother from whom Lysander is descended.
King Louis XIV was dubbed "le Roi Soleil":"the Sun King" and famously obsessed over sun motifs. His Palace of Versailles is the basis of the Parfum Palace in Kalos. The Parfum Palace was built by either AZ or one of his descendents.
The Parfum Palace garden has statues of Zekrom and Reshiram
Zekrom and Reshiram were split in two from their original united form by the Hero of Truth and the Hero of Ideals, forming Unova in the process.
The Twin Heroes built the Relic Castle in what is now the Resort Desert. The Relic Castle appears to have been built "at least 2,500 years ago".
Possibly also built the Abyssal Ruins? One castle dedicated to the sun and the desert, one to the dark and the watery depths?
The Relic Castle enshrines Volcorona, "The Sun Pokemon" said to have appeared at a time when ash blacked out the sky and saved people by acting as a replacement for the sun.
Eternatus' Darkest Day involved summoning dark clouds to black out the sky.
Alder, Champion of Unova, has a Volcorona as his signature pokemon, a backstory involving losing a pokemon and wandering the region in his grief, kind of like AZ, sans the immortality.
Alder also has a flaming mane-like hair not too dissimilar to Lysandre's.
Alder is the basis of an unspecified character design in Legends Arceus who appears to be a third, perhaps seminal or unifying factor in the Maxi/Archie ancestors' Diamond and Pearl clans. A Platinum clan? The Sinnoh people? Or just a unifier, a peace maker, a mentor, or a shared ancestor?
Cogita and Volo as members of the Sinnoh people have fixations on lore keeping/seeking. Something Cynthia sort of inherits
Cynthia is from Celestic Town in Sinnoh, where Drasna said she's from originally
Zinnia is a Dragon trainer and "lorekeeper" in ORAS
Celestic Town in DPPt has a shrine that uses the same model as the one in Ilex Forest for Celebi in HGSS
Terapagos is supposed to have an ability to alter or shift timelines, relating to the presence of the Paradox Pokemon
But Black City and White Forest also seem to exist as a kind of paradox around polar opposite futurism and primitivism

For the, what I'm calling, Arceus Creation Akari AU, Ingo needs to take Akari on her own journey of self discovery. He wants to see his Akari again, not the Panic and Depressed Akari that came reom her realization that she's a Clone of Champion Dawn.
Also, my idea is that Akari and/or Rei are from a Failed Platinum World, like the Failed Diamond and/or Pearl World, where Cyrus succeeded, with Akari and/or Rei being safe because of Arceus. But because of Cyrus using Giratina, that world dies and Arceus takes Akari and/or Rei to Hisui to start fresh, not counting on Ingo deciding that he will take Akari and/or Rei with them back home.
Ingo going on a journey with Akari is really sweet!!! Maybe Ingo, Emmet, and Akari go on a break from everything and travel around another region for a while. Emmet needs the break, he's been working both his and his brother's shifts for years and a vacation is long overdue. Ingo needs the time to acclimate to the new living conditions that he's just not used to anymore. Both perfectly valid excuses that won't make Akari feel like she's eating up their time worrying about her!
Because she will try to close herself off. She came to the future with Ingo under the assumption that she would eventually be reunited with her own family. She was not meant to be Ingo's responsibility, especially not in the long term. Ingo may have taken her in after the revelation that she doesn't "exist," but that might just because of obligation— after all, she brought him home, so maybe he feels like he has to put up with her, rather than truly wanting her around.
Going on a vacation and journeying around with her could potentially put her fears to rest, in that regard. Now it's just Ingo and Emmet trying to get her to understand something that might be a bit difficult for her; you don't need a purpose to live. Sometimes you just exist.
I want her to eventually get to that point where she realizes the only "purpose" she needs to have anymore is to love a lot and enjoy her life as she lives it.
In regards to the "failed platinum world," I find it really difficult to imagine simply because Cynthia... is perfectly capable of beating Cyrus' ass. It's actually kind of wild to think of but the protagonist in the DPP games wasn't necessarily needed to save the world, they just did it because they wanted to and they happened to be around.
Actually like. Shame on Cynthia and literally the entire Sinnoh league for leaving everything into the ten year old's hands, like wtf you could EASILY have handled that clusterfuck yourselves. What are you even doing.

it really does kill me that ILCA wasn't allowed to make like. ANY changes to base diamond and pearl when they made BDSP. pokemon past gen 4? nah those dont exist. platinum's very very slightly improved encounter pools? fuck you you will see starly and bidoof until you die.
they implemented the grand underground with a bunch of different areas and the ability to get strong TMs way early and break the difficulty curve even further, but is there anything in there that ISN'T available on the surface? yeah, houndoom. thats it. solely as a concession to the fact sinnoh has zero fire types save for chimchar and ponyta, they let you get houndoom early. (not houndour, for whatever reason, ONLY the evolved form.) new pokemon get added as you acquire badges, but again, only pokemon that already exist on the surface. it's not until you get the NATIONAL DEX that the game unlocks the ability to catch shit like fucking rattata.

FFXIV Swap: Relaxation Edition!
A swap gift playlist for @ubejamjar feat. their WoL, Ajisai Kawanami, playing to the suggested theme of Relaxation! I suppose you could call this "Lo-Fi Beats to Rotate Your WoL To"? Because that's what I sure did making this! It's got a little bit of everything I felt would resonate with your WoL, from vibes and aesthetics to shipping.
And below the cut are some brief blurbs on how and why each entry made it into the playlist itself! Thank you much for your patience, apologies for the lateness, and I hope you enjoy giving this a listen as much as I did crafting it!
The Last Stand (Masayoshi Soken): Personally, one of my favorite Endwalker tracks to vibe to. I heard it in my head as I read your ask prompt entry titled "The Perfect Date" with Ajisai and Aymeric. There's something about the acoustic that really resonates with the notion of relaxation, which is fitting considering it plays during downtime moments in Endwalker. I think it also really fits the Aesthetics section of the "5 Character Associations" tag game you did!
I Still Miss You (Bernth): A piece I found from a primarily instrumental guitarist I listen to that I checked out after noticing that you shipped Ajisai with Haurchefant, given his ultimate fate, as well as the "5 Character Associations" at play once more ("Loneliness after your lover goes home" under Emotions/Feelings) while still tying instrumentals to relaxation.
Easier (Crane Wives): Found in an ask while trawling through Ajisai's character tag, so I figured I'd add it in! You also already did the lyric analysis yourself, too, and I can see how it lines up!
Vanilla Twilight (Owl City): There's something about the lyrics of missing someone dear to you that resonates with what I can feel from Aymeric being unable to accompany Ajisai on her travels past Heavensward, save for a few instances later down the MSQ, coupled with the colors blue and purple and starry skies and winter mornings in the Associations post, while also tapping into the more lowkey vibes I'm aiming for.
Rule #1 - Magic (Fish in a Birdcage): A song I found while music-surfing, and after I gave it a listen, it reminded me of your "A Perfect Date" vignette, moreso the latter half after Ajisai and Aymeric leave the cafe they were at and retire to her abode. It's the combination of the more private quarters and the repeated lyrics:
"There is magic in this room I don't know if you can see it There is magic in this room I don't know if you can feel it It's called love Some call it love Love"
as they just spend the rest of the night in each others' presence.
6. Between Twilight (Lindsey Stirling): This was mainly on vibes from the low-key violin that comprises most of this track and resonance with...well, not just her aesthetics, but with some gposes of her general travels and less strenuous MSQ moments.
7. Foreverglow (Lindsey Stirling): It was right under the above song in the album listing, but this time it has lyrics. Still has the same vibes as the above, but the lyrics have the song hone in more on the night sky aesthetic.
8. Starlight Waltz (Ponyphonic): Another find from music-surfing. Pulling from your Wondrous Tales prompt "Lost Together" as well as that starry sky aesthetic. Well, it's a waltz, and it calls to mind the dance in the prompt. It fits both of these separately, but not necessarily together, if that makes sense? Mainly because that particular Gpose isn't shot at night.
9. Twinleaf Town (Pokemon Diamond/Peal/Platinum OST, cover by insaneintherainmusic): Ah, Twinleaf Town my beloved. Your hometown in the Gen 4 games. Comfy and cozy and safe. In Platinum particularly, the climate has turned a bit colder in Sinnoh compared to its predecessors, noted by patches of snow around the neighborhood and the characters dressed warmer. I think all that fits some of Ajisai's softer vibes, aesthetics, and Gposes.
10. Nobility Sleeps (Masayoshi Soken): And for the finishing touch, I just had to add a track from Heavensward to allude to Ajisai having love interests in both Haurchefant and Aymeric! So, I picked Nobility Sleeps, which plays at night in the Pillars in Ishgard! It's a soothing track, imo, which is a given with the time of day you can hear it in-game.

This is the response for the Pokémon ask thing. Sorry for the super late reply, got caught up into some real life things. But please enjoy this deranged ramble :>
Anyways! Grand choice! Grand choice! If I have to be honest, I was anticipating for either one of the Poké villains because they seemed very popular. Though, Cynthia is popular too. Also, a Cynthia dup, huh. Well, that's a first, I usually kept running into Lusa dups in the Daydreaming Discord server I'm in, lmao.
She may not be as lore heavy as the other blonde bitch, but she gets enough to the point of getting a backstory and some significant ties to the paracosm's big bad evil mouse guy.
So, Cynthia.
This Poké para is practically similar or the same as her canon counterpart personality wise. Just more serious and maybe a bit sassy/sarcastic given the trauma and suffering I put her through with the mouse alone. She was very well off at first in lore. A very respected actress for her job when on camera and a renowned fighter when off camera.
Yeah, the main cast in the paracosm are this skinwalker-esque species who are made mainly and solely to act and entertain the audience. In order to do that, they must wear the meat suits of their given characters and bear their names. Should they try to physically diverge or remove the meat suits, let's just say that bad things happen if they try to disown/change their names, and it'd hurt like shit if they remove the skin suit. They don't know who exactly are the audience, but they've been told by their creators over and over again that there are entities watching or playing their work. And these entities must be entertained, get something out of their performances.
Back to Cynthia, she's been very popular amongst the fellow actors thanks to her work/performance, and her character leaving a lasting impression on people. Because of her role as one of the good guys in the canon Pokémon storyline, she has the advantage and the privileges to navigate in a society that favors those who play that role more.
So, how did she got traumatized? How did all that fame, fortune, and privileges slipped past her finger tips?
It all started with a mouse.
In 2010, Cynthia had to perform for Mickey live for his birthday. It was a live performance for Pokémon Platinum. It was all fine and dandy at first. Though, over time, Mickey... Let's say his delusional episode started kicking in. You see, he can easily tell that his own project is an act all the time. But he can't easily tell if the others' works are real or not most of the time, so he has a tendency to attack the villain actors for what their canon personas did. Even if he does tell what is real and an act with some of the others' series, he'll still be a bigot towards villain actors and even commit hate crimes against them.
Towards the end of Cyrus's final act, Mickey tried to attack him in the Distortion World because of his delusions, insanity, and saviour complex. Cynthia saved Cyrus, but at the cost of losing a leg to Mickey. Right after they escaped from the mouse king, they tried to report him to the authorities of the Nintendo Empire. However, the trial kinda ended on a tie or a null. No one got guilty'd or taken to jail. Mickey is a king and can easily get away with a lot of things, this incident and the other Pokémon live performance incidents included. Cynthia still has privileges, so she's spared, and Cyrus just barely survived and only managed to escape from getting enprisoned because Cynthia had him cover.
Some months after the trial, rumours begin to spread, they were about the Sinnoh Champion herself. They can consist of her relationship with Cyrus and being brainwashed by the villain actors to help them overthrow the Nintendo Emperor, Mario. These made everyone become suspicious of Cynthia, leading up to robbing her wealth and her home, along with her socio-economic status. After that, she's been banished into the Villainous Underground, a ghetto-like place where villains, usually from very oppressive territories, live when off camera. Since then, she's been taken in by the residents and just lives there.
Nowadays, she hangs out with the villain actors of her series since they're all she has now. Some of the champion playing colleagues who were once close to her now reject and disown her from their social group thanks to those rumours.
In a following Live Performance incident, Cynthia lost an eye while helping Lysandre. I just thought it'd be neat and cool to give her a key stone for an eye. In another incident, I decided she loses a forearm while helping Lusamine with Mickey's attacks. It doesn't help that it was Ms. President's very first gig and her live first audience was not the Sponge bestie she intended to invite over, but the deranged mouse king himself.
I forgot to add/mentioned that Mickey adn one of the high ranking cult members started a smear campaign on Cynthia's ass and that's how she got angsted
That sounds so much darker and more convoluted to my poké paracosm where they're all just silly little guys with their silly little mons and their silly little family relationships but I kinda love it. My Cynthia isn't a main character in my paracosm but she's trans and immortal and terrified (/hsrs) of a 15 year old that keeps kicking her ass and she's so iconic about it. Girl committed atrocities and it's coming back to bite her 250 years later

Pokémon Legends Arceus
I have a theory that I’m pretty sure that other people have made as well:
That the character we play as from the modern day who gets sent back in to to Hisui is the character we didn’t pick in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/BDSP. What I mean is that if Dawn was picked as the player character, than Lucas is the professor’s son, and the one who gets sent back in time, to meet Dawn’s ancestor in Akari. And if Lucas was picked as the player character, than Dawn is the professor’s daughter, and the one who gets sent back in time, to meet Lucas’s ancestor in Rei. My personal headcanon is that Dawn is the player character and champion of Sinnoh who beat Cynthia, and Lucas is the one who gets sent back in time to save Hisui.
Also worth noting is that Dawn’s and Lucas’s age during their travels in the Sinnoh region, the were confirmed to be 10 years old. In Legends, the player character is said to be 15 years old. This means that there was an about 5 year skip between the Sinnoh games, and the protagonist being sent back in time. In most Pokémon timelines, it said that the adventures in Sinnoh took place around the same time as the one in the Hoenn region; 1999. This would mean that the player character in Legends was sent back in time during 2004. And as far as I’m informed, no games (in the main series) takes place at this time, since the Unova games take place around the same time as their release dates in our time, 2013. Imagine that while searching up what happened to his brother, Emmet finds this out. Ironic that the protagonist fell from an earlier time, but arrived later than Ingo did.

Pokémon Legends Arceus Retained Memories Headcanons
TW: Depictions of PTSD
Tumblr media
• So we all know that the protagonist is post Daimond/Pearl/Platinum Dawn/Lucas (whichever you picked), so why doesn't it feel like that. It honestly feels like they've lost their memories like Ingo did, but that's clearly not the case as proven by their dialogue choices, so here's a few headcanons I made where MC remembers everything.
• Upon meeting certain characters, MC will tense up as if ready for battle. These characters would include Laventon(upon noticing the golden G on his lab coat), Cyllene, Arezu, and Coin. Likewise, they would have an overall positive reaction to Rei/Akari, Kamado, Volo, Mei, and Cogita.
• Upon finding space time rift Pokémon, excluding Sneasel and Weavile, MC makes their own Pokedex entries, which Laventon studies with the type of glee only a researcher can show.
Magnemite: The magnets at its sides are used to feed off of the electricity contained within a metal unit. The advancement of technology in this creature's time makes Pokémon like this much more common.
Magneton: As a Magnemite grows in strength, so to does its magnetism, often times causing it to link with other Magnemite forming Magneton. The increased magnetism has also increased this Pokémon's core temperature significantly. Direct physical contact is ill-advised.
Magnezone: Exposure to Hisui's central mountain's magnetic field has caused the three Magnemites' bodies to meld into one Manezone. Using its magnetic waves, it is capable of a form of echolocation similar to Zubat's. How magnetic waves are capable of this is difficult to explain, but if one ever finds a Magnezone in the wild, it is best to take cover and wait for it to pass.
Porygon: An artificial being created by future technology. Calling this thing a life form seems rather extreme, as all studies have shown it has no will of its own, only having just enough of a mind to receive and execute a command. No mind to think and no will to break.
Porygon 2: After receiving an Up-grade, Porygon has gained intelligence and emotions. While still having no signs of life such as a heartbeat, it is now more than the mindless tool it started as.
Porygon Z: A faulty upgrade has made its way into Porygon's mind. This Pokémon is erratic and unstable in its behavior and movements. Those kept in Pokéballs seem to be tame enough. If you encounter one in the wild, however, RUN.
Fossil Pokémon (Proffesor Laventon does a good enough job, this is more of just a side note.): This Pokémon was brought back to life using futuristic technology.
• Knowing the truth behind Sinnoh (Palkia and Dialga), they find the feud between the clans frustrating and stupid for different reasons than everybody else
• When the sky turns red, I think this would cause MC to go into a full panic attack, because they know what's happening, they know how to stop it, but they don't know how to reach the lake guardians considering they're sealed off.
• Volo is surprised when they mention Giratina. He's even more surprised when they say their Giratina saved them.
• I feel like Volo's betrayal would have more or less the same impact.

Hey again, sorry I'm not posting for my lack of posts. My switch stopped working, so I had to get a new one and a myriad of information is no long readily available to me, but this popped in my mind, and I just had to write it. I might add more to this later, but at the moment I can't think of anything that doesn't pertain to the story. Anyway, I know I've said this countless times already, but it bears repeating for those who need it, feel free to use this if it inspired you in any way.

pokemon question from a guy who doesnt know much about pokemon. I am just now realizing that despite seeing them a lot I don't have a ton of context for the submas guys. what game(s) are they from, and whats like... theyre whole deal? (<- genuine question but also giving you an excuse to talk about the train guys)
ingo and emmet are the heads of the battle facility in the unova region :-] this basically means that they are the final bosses of an optional challenge mode in gen 5 (pokemon black & white / black2 / white2).
instead of gaining experience you're meant to fight several battles in a row with all pokemon set to level 50 to try get a streak as high as possible. there's regular battle lines where they're the 21st battle, and then "super" lines / infinite lines where they're the 49th battle but you can keep going indefinitely even after fighting them
they also have a mandatory story battle in pokemon black 2 and white 2 that isn't in the originals where they fight you with 2 pokemon that evolve when traded which i think is really cute :-] they have a similar thing in pokemon masters where they have an alt with pokemon that only evolve when traded with the other specifically... so emmet has dialogue that's like "my escavalier used to be ingo's karrablast, i'll continue to take good care of it for him!" which is really cute to me
but yeah in general they are just 2 guys who are really strong trainers in-universe and love trains.
the deal with them / why they got such a resurgence of popularity recently is because of pokemon legends arceus. it's a game that takes place at some ambiguous point in the past in a different region (sinnoh, the region for the gen 4 games diamond pearl and platinum). and the protagonist is sort of brought there by arceus to complete the first ever pokedex in the region while also saving the world LOL. and like. so this game takes place like roughly i'll say 200 years in the past from other pokemon games, and also in a different region from the one the subway bosses are from.
ingo is there. for some reason ingo is there. and he has amnesia. and he's very miserable about it. he was already a really popular character in the original games and now all of the people who recognized him (myself included) were like WHAT??? OH MY GOD??? OH NO????? WHAT IS HE DOING HERE. because he's just like so miserable and obviously misses unova and his pokemon and emmet a lot even though he barely remembers anything about it... so it's really conducive to like fix-it type stuff LOL. he does something similar in these games too where he organizes battles between the player and other people (himself included) but it's not as fun for me because he's a huge pushover in that game so there's not really the same thrill
but yeah he has a lot of dialogue that just kind of boils down to "i really miss these things and these people. even though i can't remember them my heart feels the absence" and stuff... if you do fight him and once he starts organizing battles he directly quotes something emmet says in the b2w2 mandatory fight and then after you beat him says he doesn't really know what it means a lot of the time when he says things like that but hearing those words fills him with strength 😭 he talks about missing his chandelure (one of the pokemon he uses on the super line battle) and that he's starting to remember a man who looks like him. it's just a lot he's doing really bad. he's still wearing the coat and hat he was wearing when he got to hisui (<- what the sinnoh region was called in the past in this game) even though they're like in tatters now alongside other parts of his old outfit you can see like presumably the shoes and his belt... he's really clinging to this stuff and it's sad because you can tell how homesick he is
he is definitely a minor character in pla and him and emmet were barely even in black and white as npcs but they're very endearingly written so i get why people like em so much

Moonie's Pokemon Platinum + PLA Replaying Adventures: Part 2
Part 1 is here
Something I missed in my PLA playthrough is the charm shop in Jubilife and the very obvious Arceus shrine. I'm suddenly realizing very few places of worship of Arceus actually depicts it's true form as a pokemon, just the emblem of its crest. Noticeably the Tempting Charm also features its crest, but I am unsure why in terms of lore. (That being said, the pokemon world's version of dudes wearing a cross chain necklace are Arceus' crests, apparently)
Tumblr media
In terms of the actual shrine itself, it's very small with the stone crest seeing better days. (My best guess is it's gold plated?? I would assume the blotches of colour on the stone is rust, but it looks way too yellow) Typical offerings are placed there, but I noticed that the flower in the vase offering is what appears to be a white Easter lily, which is a common flower depicted in Christianity. Might just be a generic flower choice, but I thought that was a fun coincidence.
Tumblr media
The Solaceon Ruins are likely one of the biggest differences between games, mostly due to it's layout. In D/P/Pt the ruins were placed in the game mostly as a puzzle for the player to obtain the HM fly, but given HMs don't exist yet, the whole thing was removed (likely for game design reasons rather than lore ones however).
The main entrance and unown hieroglyphics are the same however, so I like to headcanon that the ruin's main entrance was only constructed during pre-Hisui times (given the Greeco-Roman architecture surrounding it) but the ruins may have been modified or excavated post-Hisui times. Given the size and scale of Solaceon Ruins in Platinum, it is likely that by the time of modern Sinnoh, some archaeologists and historians likely found hidden rooms only after the events of PLA.
I mentioned this before in another post of mine, but Volo is the only character (that I'm aware of so far) that does not let you refuse a battle with him. (That being said, none of the bosses/trainers in any pokemon game have been ever "optional", but I digress.) When given yes/no responses to other characters when prompting a battle, you are usually given the option to refuse (say if you want to save or switch up your team.) I found out that the Rei/Akari battle doesn't let you exit the cutscene when you respond no, but it still in some way pauses before initializing the battle. Volo's battles straight up ignore this and start the battle right away. All in all pretty good foreshadowing to how later in the game he responds "not that you have a choice..."

i’m so fascinated how gen 5 remakes will go… if they happen at all??? bw/bw2 are probably the first and one of the few pokemon games that imo truely have little to no faults and besides visual upgrades i don’t see what else a remake would serve? gens 1-4 while i love them DEEPLY - i can see faults in all those games that ‘warranted’ a remake - despite some of the remakes not even fixing original issues or making certain elements worse. seeing unova in a 3d or even open world format would be so fucking dope but it seems like such a risk to take for two of the most critically acclaimed games in the franchise, especially after bdsp and the reception it has? as much as i love sinnoh, it’s a messy region. even platinum, which is the ultimate form of sinnoh, is still clunky and slow. bdsp highlighted the faults of the region and while i think the hate for bdsp is sooo overdone, legends arceus literally saved sinnoh for the newer generation of fans who didn’t have childhood nostalgia for it.
i think if we DO get a bw remake it’ll be in 2026 for pokemons 30th anniversary or maybe that’s just me being sentimental … legends za… gen 10???? bw remakes? oh i’m scared for the future LOL

Someone on Reddit asked, hey, if you could give anyone from Sinnoh the Neo Champion status, regardless of how little sense it makes, who would you give it to?
Easy: Cyrus.
Try and explain how that happened. Every one of these events is the regional champion announcing some Neo Champion contest with the central theme of like love and friendship or some garbage. How do you explain Cyrus winning this?
Because Charon shows up, aiming to do the same thing from Platinum post-game. He's going to capture Heatran for the good of Team Galactic, even though by now we know full well it sets off the eruptions. Cyrus, effectively domesticated, intervenes proactively to talk Charon down from his plan, and inadvertently bonds with Heatran, who just sees this guy trying to argue to leave its special rock alone and is like "Friend? Friend!" By saving all of Pasio from a cataclysm and demonstrating such a bond of care with his new partner, Cynthia decides to award him the medal for Neo Champion as a reward. He hates it. He hates it so much.

Why the Distortion World Is Empty
Wrote this back in 2018 as part of an attempt to explain a weird bit of the Pokémon Platinum setting. Pokémon names in ALLCAPS because that's how it was done back in DPPt.
~~~~~
"The legend told of a world on the other side of ours. This world. Why does this world exist? Why is GIRATINA here all alone?" -Cynthia
You are the hero of Sinnoh. You were there on Spear Pillar when Team Galactic attempted to create a new world.  You watched as the Lake Trio tried to sabotage the ritual, and GIRATINA dragged the team’s mad leader into its own world. Into the portal you had gone, and with the help of the Lake Trio, navigated the Distortion World. It was You who defeated Cyrus and then calmed that dragon of shadows. Then you found your way out so that you could continue your journey.
Now, you head north, to Lake Acuity. To check on the psychic who lives within, among other reasons. From Acuity Lakefront, you Rock Climb up to the forest. Using HM03 Surf, you reach the center of the lake. There is, as expected, a cave structure there.
You enter Acuity Cavern. At the center of the cave, you see a small blue and yellow Pokémon levitating. it seems to stare at you from beneath its closed eyes. And then you hear a voice. No, not hear - at least not literally.
“Ah, you have made it. Good.”
'...'
“Surprised I can communicate? You shouldn’t be, if you were listening to Cynthia. I am UXIE, the being of knowledge, should I not possess that which I embody?
I have been waiting for you. You did well, in saving the universe. And you calmed GIRATINA. Did you do so by catching the renegade? No, don’t tell me. It is not often that I get the chance to be surprised. And you made it out of the Distortion World well enough, didn’t you?” It is a good thing that place was otherwise uninhabited, or else what would you have done had your Pokémon all fainted? There are no Pokémon Centers to return to there, after all. But it is odd isn’t it? That World’s emptiness?”
'...'
“had you truly not considered it? It is not as if there is anything stopping other Pokémon from being there. You can enter and leave through Turnback Cave without issue. Why can’t others? There are BRONZOR and BRONZONG living right nearby the portal.”
'...'
“Because it is uninhabitable, hmm? You are working on the Pokédex Project are you not? Have you ever encountered anywhere untouched by humans where Pokémon do not thrive? I assure you, there aren’t. Why isn’t there anything living off the upward rivers or ephemeral trees?”
'...'
“Ahh. I need not look at you to see your eyes moving – the figurative gears in your head spinning. You are thinking! Very good. I knew I liked you. The truth then: It was not always uninhabited. Do you wish to know what happened, hmm?”
'...'
“Of course you do. Why else would simply stand there? Very well then: here it is:
 The Mythical MEW, as you may know, is very often the creator of New Species. One day, just under half a billion years ago, near the end of what you humans call the ‘Devonian Period’, MEW became bored - as it often does. And in its boredom, it wondered its way into that Distorted realm. There, it found a world of Ghost and Rock and Ground and Water Pokémon who got lost within or else were descended from those who did. And there in GIRATINA's Realm, MEW found, was a world with most niches unfilled. When an unfilled niche is found - whether real or imagined, MEW holds the right to fill it with a creation of its own. And so, it decided to execute that right.
The environmental factors which affect how well a species would thrive in that Reverse world were found to be totally unlike those seen anywhere else. Thus the new species for this realm would also have to be totally unlike those seen anywhere else. MEW took a look at the world's primary inhabitant and the lack of stability of space and time, and then began to create. Creatures with great mouthed tentacles for gripping the disappearing rocks and trees. Vast dragons with claw-armed mouths. Monsters with multitudinous fin-wings for swimming through non-euclidean rivers and skies. Phasing tenebrous spirits to consume the wyrms at the centers of floating landmasses. Organisms shaped like walking human towers. Powerful blocks of color. Others were stranger still. MEW called the creations 'cute'. After a year of observing, playing with the new children, and hanging its tail - swinging back and forth - from one being's stinger tail, it grew bored once more, and, deciding its work to be good in its eyes, promptly left.
At first it was. MEW's creations were well suited to their environment - better than the sidereal native lives that had made their home in that world. And Nature took its course, as the new outcompeted the old. But the eldritch creatures were too successful. Once all the sidereal organisms were consumed, the horrors began to focus their unsated hungers on the terrain itself. Swarms of  ▶ A drank whole forests. The dreaded 'M slowly assimilated entire floating landmasses. Soon some even began to consider the Lord of Antimatter as potential prey if ganged up on. Actually gave the Renegade some exercise fighting them. And then some managed to come through a portal to our world unscathed. You could imagine the terror when they began to consume the land. The invaders were exterminated, and all saw the danger that had been let loose.
But MEW holds not just the role of a creator but also a destroyer. Its eldritch creations were found to be a threat to all ecosystems they encountered. To us.  The less dangerous were driven off to exotic planes and light years distant stars.  As for the others - with a hardened heart, MEW worked with GIRATINA to purge the horrors from that mirrored realm. MEW promised never to make another species for that place's niches again, and it remains all but uninhabited to this day. Now the Pokémon of this world are too afraid to crossover.”
'...'
“Might some of the more dangerous entities have escaped their purgation, you ask? Oh yes. All that remained awoke three years ago. But none survive today.
Now then: I need not read your mind to know that you are not here simply to check on my health. I have waited my entire existence for this moment – this opportunity to make meaningful decisions of mine own. Step forward, human.
Come – To Battle!”
Wrote this back in 2018 as part of an attempt to explain a weird bit of the game setting. I had planned on writing a multi-chapter sequel (interquel?) that gives a more behind-the-scenes look at things that doesn't whitewash events at all (it would be titled "Where the Wild T̶̢̘͓̹̘̳͙͉͉͈͈̲̣̿͌͌̉̀̄̅ẖ̷̡͎̞̹͖͕̟͙̪͌͐̑́̂̈͘͘ͅị̴̧̢̲̩̬̻̯̣̠͙̄̐̑́̅̾̑̊͌̊́͑́͜͠n̸͎̖̻͉̣̻̒̌͗̎́̇̈̈́̃̐͋́͝g̵̗̮̩̳̥͙̗͔̞̥̫̟͎̹͗͘s̸̰̖͉̔̔́̇͝ went") but that's probably never going to amount to anything.
