An Axe Of Kindness
Hello, there folks! I’m back from a busy couple of weeks though my return is somewhat delayed as I have just recovered from being rather ill. I wanted to give ya’ll something quick while I work on some longer pieces. So here we are and thank you for your patience! And yes, the title is a pun. I feel no shame.
-Crow
So my dear readers, imagine you are a Hobbit, a Hobbit who is no stranger to some hard work on their farm and has been chopping wood for your family for quite some time. You have some skill with the axe, though not battle oriented, and the dwarfs have no idea. How will they respond when they realize you wield a popular dwarven weapon?

Camp was, as usual, full of laughter and conversation. The night was in its infancy, and you were happily settled beside dear Mr. Bilbo and young Ori who worked fervently on a knitted pair of gloves. The day had been long and hard and the weight of your legs seemed nigh unbearable.
“I think my legs might fall off,” you said to no one in particular, “they feel heavier than one of old mister Proudfeet’s pumpkins!”
You reached down to weakly rub at the tender muscles when you heard Kili chuckle boisterously, you looked up to see him staring at you with a toothy grin.
“You’ll have to get used to all the activity my dear companion!” He mused.
“I am used to activity!” You insisted rather bluntly, “You know I am a farmer, and I’m no stranger to a long day!” You saw some of the dwarves quirk their brows, and you couldn’t help but laugh at the synced action.
“Well, I’m not used to walking all day I suppose, but during harvest season I’m outside all day! Don’t even get me started on chopping wood for the winter months!”
You sighed dramatically as though to prove your point and stretched your legs out in front of yourself. With a few more chuckles from your travelling companions, you all continued preparing camp for the coming dark.
As the night settled in and the sun shrunk away behind the horizon, the company sat close to the fire and like most nights, began their shifts of either sleeping or watch duty. It was quiet, the lack of animal calls and even crickets unsettled you as you laid down upon your thin bedroll. The moon was new, and the skies were black as a raven, the only light came from the glow of the dying fire and the shining stars. One would think it was all quite pretty were it not for your mounting concern over the lack of forest sounds. You fought with your woollen blanket and turned until you found yourself comfortable enough to forget about the extended day and the silent night. But then you heard a shriek, close by.
Bolting upright, you looked around. Dwalin, who was dutifully sitting on a fallen log, gripped his battle axe tight as he also swivelled his head. Thorin and Gloin leaned forwards and looked at each other. Another call sounded, and you slowly moved to grab your short dagger when something burst through the trees.
An orc now stood on the edge of the company’s camp and looked around wildly. It gripped twin hatchets and let out a shrill and unpleasant cry. All of the dwarves and two disgruntled hobbits suddenly sprang to life grabbing for their weapons. You now gripped your dagger tight as the beast charged toward the closet dwarf, Bifur. The dark orc raised a hatchet and prepared to deliver a fatal blow but before it could, Bifur jumped back as Gloin charged from the orc’s side, his own axe raised and he struck suddenly. The creature stumbled to the side shrieking and releasing its weapon. The cries it let out were horrifying, to say the least, they fluctuated from a high-pitched scream to a guttural vocalization.
As its cries came to an end, more orcs jumped from seemingly nowhere and you heard Thorin’s booming voice roaring for everyone to assume a defensive position. You were pushed back toward the fire by Bofur, and he gave you a sympathetic look before turning back to the oncoming danger. While you understood his concern, you wanted to be helpful, and that’s when you noticed the hatchets laying on the ground near the first downed orc. Gradually, you inched back and to your side to scoop both of them up. While one was easy to seize from the clearing floor, the other was tightly gripped by the orc. It seemed that he didn’t want to lose his weapon, even in death. Realizing the hold the orc had on the axe, as well as the size of it in your hand. You chose to forsake it and quickly dart back to the safety of your previous position by the fire.
No one seemed to notice your movements as the pack of orcs moved in close and attempted to circle everyone. Without another moment, every dwarf sprang nimbly to life.
The forest was no longer quiet, instead, it was filled with the battle cries of both orcs and dwarves as they charged one another with axes and swords at the ready. You stood with your new hatchet, though it was more like a battle axe in your small grip. The fight was carrying along swiftly and for a moment you thought you might not need to use your newfound weapon when an orc managed to push its way past Dori and raise its sword at Ori. The unfortunate dwarf held tight to his slingshot as it cried and before you could properly register your own movements, you darted over to him.
“It’s exactly like a log of wood,” you whispered under your breath as you promptly raised the orcish axe.
Hastily, you brought it down, striking the orc's lower back. It crumpled in pain before your eyes and you brought the axe down once more to ensure its end as it lay in the middle of the clearing. Breathing hard, you looked up and met Ori’s startled eyes. He smiled gratefully at you before catching sight of something behind you and flinging a jagged rock from his slingshot over your head. At the same moment, you wheeled around and took a quick swipe at a tall orc's gangly legs leaping out of the way as it fell. Panicked, you wheeled around, afraid to see more orcs encroaching on your newfound friends but it seemed that you had efficiently managed to finish off the last of them. You let out a surprised chuckle that sounded more like a hoarse gasp as you caught your breath and the adrenaline began to wear off.
“You did it!” Fili cheered enthusiastically as he looked between you and the fallen orc.
“You undoubtedly saved me!” Ori said rather breathlessly, still clutching his slingshot.
“And you, me!” you answered back.
“Where did you learn to wield an axe like that?” Dwalin seamlessly stepped to stand beside you looking at you incredulously.
“Well I told you I chopped wood for my family, didn’t I?” you tried to joke but as Dwalin continued to stare at you like you grew another head you shrank into yourself. Suddenly his hardened face broke into a smile, “Aye, ya’ did.” he chuckled. A sense of welcome relief flushed through you as your dear companions gathered closer.
Bilbo seemed to emerge from the shadows to pat you on the back telling you that you would have to give him a demonstration. And most of the group seemed to heartily agree to the extra training for the hobbit. Thorin broke into the gathered circle barking for the group to pack up quickly and snuff the fire. As he walked by, he nodded at you and you couldn't help but flash a wide grin back. After carefully packing up camp, the entire company moved quickly through the night, trying to get to safer ground while the forest lurked with orcs. Thorin promised that you would stop during the day for needed rest which earned sighs of welcome relief from everyone.
The following day, the sun beat down on the area where the dwarves had made camp, but the heat did not reach you as you lay in the shade near a stream filled with cool running water. The afternoon had been spent resting and napping so that you could cover more ground before nightfall. And you welcomed the rest with excited arms. The dwarves seemed to have changed their tone when speaking to you. An air of respect for your “skill” with an axe had taken hold and you were not going to complain. The orc axe, which was really no more than a hatchet rested comfortably on your belt opposite from your dagger, you felt a sense of growing pride for your arsenal though the orc axe was an ugly thing. It was a crude thing made for a bloody function rather than to have any noteworthy aesthetics.
Gloin’s boots appeared in front of your view and you swiftly looked up to meet his gaze. He held himself with his normal prideful stance but he seemed to waver as he rubbed his hands together carefully.
“So I and the others have been talkin’, and we think that you should have a proper axe.” He said rather matter-of-factly. Your face softened immediately and you grinned up at him.
“Really? Oh, that’s sweet of you to think so!” you said happily but respectfully. You knew that a dwarve’s weapons were something special and they wouldn’t say such a thing unless they truly thought you deserved one.
Balin stepped to stand beside Gloin and you rose to your feet. He pulled out a lovely-looking axe and carefully handed it to you. It was well-forged and the metal was imprinted with swirling geometric designs that marked it as a dwarven axe. It was polished to a shine and sharpened with care. It was clearly made for battle. Your face broke into a sentimental smile as you thanked the dwarves.
“But don’t you go chopping wood with that one!” Dwalin called out from his comfortable spot under a nearby tree. You laughed merrily and agreed as you removed the orcish axe to replace it with the fine dwarvish one.
I hope you enjoyed reading this! I really appreciate comments and reblogs!

P!Gandalf and Hobbits x F!Hobbit reader.
“Sleep pile protector.”
A/n: I kinda made a Part two of the sleep pile short but for Gandalf lovers who need a dad.
Part 1: https://www.tumblr.com/elrondsimp/716891873598390272/the-hobbits-x-f-reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gandalf chuckled at the sight of the hobbits piled on top of each other, their faces peaceful in slumber. He had always found hobbits to be fascinating creatures, with their love of food, simple pleasures, and close-knit communities.
As he sat down beside them, he couldn't resist the temptation to join in on the fun. He scooted closer to the pile, draping his arm over them and letting his voluminous sleeve fall over them like a short blanket.
"Mmm, cozy," he murmured with a grin. "Perhaps I should join you all."
The hobbits stirred at his touch, but didn't wake up completely. Y/n, who was at the bottom of the pile, mumbled something in her sleep and snuggled closer to the warmth of her companions.
It was common for any women hobbits to sleep on the bottom, to ensure they get the most warmth, especially in colder climates. Where as in warmer areas they slept nearly on top of the males.
Gandalf sat there for a few moments, enjoying the peaceful moment and the warmth of the hobbits' bodies. He had always been fond of these little creatures, with their fierce loyalty and their willingness to face danger for the sake of their friends.
As he sat there, lost in thought, he heard a rustling in the bushes nearby. He tensed, ready for whatever danger might be lurking in the darkness.
But then he heard a familiar voice. "Gandalf? Are you there?"
It was Aragorn, his friend and fellow member of the Fellowship. Gandalf relaxed, knowing that he was safe with his companions by his side.
He looked down at the hobbits, still sleeping soundly, and smiled. He knew that they would always be there for him, no matter what dangers they might face in the days ahead.
"Sleep well, my friends," he whispered, before settling in to join them in their cozy pile.

Daddy’s little girl: Dad Thranduil x teen (turned into baby) daughter reader.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age: 15 turned into a baby (in human years) Legolas and Tauriel has convinced reader Chan to go with the patrol against Thranduil’s wishes.
Warning: discipline Spanking, fluff, cute baby reader, this is platonic.
Translations:
Ada: Dad/Daddy/Papa
Adar: Father
Muindor: brother.
Tumblr media
Your POV:
I wish I’ve listened to Ada when he said “You’re not ready to be in the patrol and you’re too young.” By the Valar why was he always right?
I can already hear him scolding me, giving me a lecture on the dangers of the forest, make me write an essay on the dangers of leaving the palace and possibly have me over his knee then heat up my backside like he did when I accidentally broke that vase when I was little.
And why did I went along with Legolas’s and Tauriel’s dumb plan on sneaking out while Ada was at a meeting?
Flashback:
I was practicing archery with my big brother Legolas and the captain of the guards Tauriel when Meludir came “My Prince! captain! there is a spider’s nest dangerously close to the palace.” He said frantically “We will leave immediately.” Tauriel said “This will be a great opportunity to see how you’re improving Y/N.” Muindor said getting his horse “But Dad said I’m not old enough to go on patrol! And he’s expecting me in the palace by sunset.” I said following him to the stables where he, Tauriel and the rest of the patrol saddle their horses “It’s only going to take an hour. He won’t be out of today’s meeting in two hours, that gives us time to get back before he knows you’re gone.” Tauriel said “I don’t like where this is going but I suppose it won’t be too bad.” I said as Legolas helped me onto his horse and climbs on behind me.
Present time:
I gulped in terror as I’m face to face with the giant spiders that have been plaguing Mirkwood for the very first time in my life.
By Yavanna they were gigantic and looked hungry.
I fearfully held my bow up to shoot them from the tree branch I was standing on but I was so paralyzed with fear I kept missing.
No one’s POV
You managed to get one of the spiders but when you hit it the giant arachnid got angry and began slamming its head on the tree stump making you lose your balance and start to fall but you managed to hang onto the tree branch for dear life but another spider crawled from the tree top and snapped the branch with its pinchers causing you to fall, Scrape your knee, wrist and ankle, cut your thigh on some bark, cut your left cheek and the side of your head, hit your eye on the spiders knee and land infront of the spider you shoot with your arrow in its rump making you whimper.
You fearfully tried to shoot it but when you fell you sprained your other arm and it was painful raising it “Y/N!” Your older brother yelled fearfully while fighting off an ambush of spiders “There’s too many of them Legolas.” Tauriel screamed in fear “This was a very stupid idea. Father would kill us if we went home without Y/N.” Legolas said fearfully until a very familiar voice spoke “And you better have an explanation on why she’s out here in the first place.” Said the voice when an arrow flew past him and into the spiders head followed by another thus killing it.
Looking to where the voice and arrow came from, you felt relief and dread when you saw your father on his elk and some soldiers with him.
They finished off the spiders and you can tell your father was furious when he’s calm “Father listen. We can explain.” Your brother said but Thranduil ran towards you instead “Y/N are you alright?” He asked gently kneeling to your shaking figure “No.” you answered honestly as he gently helped you up but you yelped in pain from your sprained arm and throbbing cuts making him gently pick you up like he did when you were little and you curled into him in pain “We will discuss punishment when we get home.” He said walking past Tauriel and your brother whom both looked guilty “Yes father/my lord.” They said.
Legolas was about to take you from Thranduil but he held you away “She’s riding with me.” He said as the giant elk kneeled down allowing your father to put you down on the bridal and him to get on behind you easily “Legolas! Tauriel! You two better explain yourselves.” Your father said taking the reins with his arms around your waist so you won’t fall “Well you see father we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to see Y/N’s improvement because we thought the nest was small and we kinda manipulated her into coming.” Legolas said cowering under your father’s glare “But we were wrong when we saw how big the nest was and Y/N ended up missing the spiders but the one she managed to shoot.” Tauriel said fearfully earning a glare from your father “Well you two are kinda not going to like the punishment I have in mind for you when we get to the palace.” He said “Y/N I can’t believe you went along with their plan.” He spoke in disappointment “ You know you’re not allowed in the forest unless we are going away.” He said “But I didn’t want to go into the forest, they said we would be back before your meeting finished.” You said earning betrayed looks from Legolas and Tauriel “Of all the irresponsible things you two have done.” He said as the palace is in view “This is we’re I draw the line. Not only did you throw yourselves and the patrol in danger but you also put Y/N in danger.” He said as your at the bridge.
After everyone is off their steeds your father has you in his arms and turns to Tauriel and Legolas “You two are to wait for me in my study while I deal with Y/N and her wounds.” He said walking to the healing ward with you in his arms.
Your POV:
Ada carried me like I was still a small elfling, It was so humiliating because there were servants and guards seeing me get treated like a toddler when I’m a teenager “I hope you’ve learned you’re lesson after all this my little one.” Dad said turning to the healing wing and entering.
When we entered he sat me on one of the healing beds so a healer can examine me “By the Valar what happened?” The healer asked as he got a bowl of water with a cloth and bandages while Dad explained what happened “Your lucky to still be alive your highness. You better take some guards with you next time.” The healer said gently dabbing the wet cloth over my cuts to clean them “There won’t be a next time. Because you are NEVER, EVER, going with the patrol again until you’re older. You’re also not allowed to go to training or anywhere without your personal guards.” Dad said as he placed me on his lap to hold my leg so the healer can take the small pebbles out of the gash on my thigh.
No one’s POV:
You’ve never felt so humiliated in your life when your father had you on his lap “She sprained her arm during the fight.” Your father said gently raising your arm causing you to whimper making him and the healer chuckle a bit “What am I going to do with you my little elfling?” He asked as the healer wrapped your arm, wrist, ankles, thigh, head, put a bandage over your black eye and a plaster on your cheek “She can’t use her arm for a month and she must not raise it.” The healer said “It’s also how long you are grounded.” Thranduil said simply and sternly with a firm look on his face.
Tumblr media
After the cheek up your father carried you to your room, locked the door, sat on your bed, placed you over his knee and began pulling down your leggings and undergarments making you squeak “DAD, PLEASE. IS A SPANKING REALLY NECESSARY?” You asked holding your black tunic down to cover your exposed backside and front while squirming making the older elf sigh “You know fully well it is sweetling. And hold still.” He said lifting your tunic so he can begin making you whimper in terror “I’m only doing this because I love you Y/N. What you did today was foolish and dangerous. You could have been killed.” He said making guilt wash over you “So I am not going easy on you. I hope this will teach you a lesson.” He said swatting your backside making you winch in pain as his hand strike’s your slowly Redding bottom “You will never again run out of the palace boarders again Y/N?” He asked still striking your bottom making you yelp “Y/N?” He asked “NOOOOO.” You screamed with tears running down your face “And why won’t you?” He asked “Because it was dangerous and foolish, I’m not allowed to go with the patrol, I’m not ready and I could have been killed.” You said in one breath still sobbing and shaking “That’s right. Very good my child.” He said stopping and gathering your fragile body into his arms and began hugging your smaller frame “I’m really sorry Dad.” You sobbed into his chest while clutching to his robes while crying “I know. You are forgiven sweetling, but starting tomorrow you are not allowed outside of the palace for awhile.” He said making you nod as your sobs turned into whimpers and then hiccups making him smile ‘cute.’ He thinks to himself as you managed to calm down “Some maids are coming to bathe you my child.” He said getting up from your bed “Dinner will be ready soon but I will ask a maid to bring it up along with dessert! In the mean time your door will be locked.” He said walking out of the room and locking the door.
When you heard the clicking of the door locking you went to take that bath since you felt sweaty and uncomfortable.
At Thranduil’s study:
After Thranduil gave you your punishment he went to his study and was pleased to see Tauriel and Legolas there but hid it with a stern look “For putting Y/N and the patrol in danger your both tending to my elk in the stables for a month starting tomorrow.” He said “Your lucky my hand is sore from spanking Y/N.” He said making them snicker “So on the way I asked your old mentors to do the honors for tonight.” He said making the younger elves quiet as the door opens and in walks two elves about Thranduil’s age but they were a bit younger then the king “Come along you naughty elflings.” They said grabbing the two elves by the ears.
You fearfully stand in front of the maids whom gently helped you out of your training clothes and unwrapped your bandages.
You carefully got into the tub as they discarded the blood soaked bandages and threw your dirty clothes into the hamper by your bathroom door.
Two of the maids began to bathe you while another went to get your night clothes while another washed your hair and the last went to get fresh bandages from the healers.
After your bath the maids began dressing you in a silk nightgown, brushed your hair, braided it and then re wrapped your wombs.
The maids left your room as soon as they heard a knock meaning dinner was ready.
After you ate your vegetable soup with lembas bread on the side, a glass of water and a slice of apple pie you went to brush your teeth but you felt dizzy and decided to go to sleep.
Thranduil’s POV:
After I spanked Y/N I realized how much I missed having a baby in the palace and how much my little girl was growing up to fast for my liking.
I called Methrandir for a de aging potion that will turn My Y/N into an infant “Here you are Mellon Nin just put it in her food or drink and you’ll have a child again.” He said walking to the guest wing to settle in for the night while I went to the kitchen and spotted three of the maids taking trays of food one with Y/N’s name on a tag and the other two with Legolas’s and Tauriel’s names.
Smirking I pored the liquid in Y/N’s glass of water and went to the dining room to eat excited to have my little one back.
In the morning no one’s POV:
You slowly opened your eyes to see that something wasn’t right.
For starters everything looked bigger, your hands and legs were small and your bed looked oddly high.
You slowly crawled to the edge of your bed and saw that you were 10 feet off the ground but when you saw your reflection in your body mirror you nearly fell when you saw that you were a baby again.
You tried to speak but all that came out was cooing and gurgling,
Freaking out you tried standing up but your legs felt like jelly and you ended up falling off the bed over your now over grown nightgown.
Luckily there was a pillow so you had a soft landing but you hit your forehead on the bed board causing you to start crying “No! Dang it my inner child.” You said in your head.
As you cried in pain you heard your door unlocking and then burst open to reveal your father wielding his sword and brother wielding his bow with a notched arrow “Show yourselves Orcs.” Your brother said until his and your father’s eyes landed on you “Y/N is that you?” Legolas asked in shock but all that came from you was cooing and gurgling until your father scooped you up into his arms “The potion worked.” He said when Legolas spoke “What potion Adar?” He asked trying not to laugh “After I spanked Y/N I realized how much I miss having a baby. So I asked Methrandir to brew up a de aging potion that I put in Y/N’s water last night.” He said hugging you gently as to not crush you.
Legolas really couldn’t help but laugh at your predicament when Tauriel came into the room “I heard crying in here.” She said until Legolas spoke “Get a look at Y/N.” he said bringing her to see you.
When Tauriel saw you she saw that you no longer looked like a teenager but you were now a small infant being held by the king and she too bursted into laughter making you blush and hide yourself into your father’s chest making him stroke your hair but he turned to Tauriel and Legolas with a stern look “Don’t you two have chores this morning?” He asked making them stop laughing and sprinting out of the room to get ready for their chores as your father yelled “And I’ll be adding changing her diapers to your punishment.” He said as your personal maids came in but they stopped in surprise when they saw you being held by your father “I will be bathing her this morning but I need one of you to hold her.” he said walking to the bathroom “I’ll get her old baby clothes.” One of the maids said walking out of the room while the others followed your father into the bathroom.
After an awkward bath your dressed in a white shirt with a black sewn on corset, white leggings, white baby booties with ankle straps, your hair done in a side ponytail with a braid (think of Nahida’s hair) and a circlet with white flowers.
Tumblr media
Thranduil proud of his work picked you up and walked down to the dining room for breakfast with the servants gushing over you but you curled up into your father’s blood red robes in embarrassment so people won’t see you making him chuckle “I know this is embarrassing my dear! But it’s apart of your punishment.” He said walking into the dining room and sitting next to Gandalf whom smirked when he saw you “I see the potion worked wonderfully.” He said as the servants placed down a bowl of baby Porridge for you that Thranduil spoon feed you.
During breakfast a guard came in “My king! Lord Elrond and his sons arrived.” He said “Bring them in. They must be exhausted from traveling.” Your father said putting a spoonful of porridge in your mouth.
The guard came back with Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir “Ahh Thranduil! Methrandir! Looks like the birds were right.” Elrond said smiling at you while the twins snickered at your predicament making Elrond and your father glare at them “Boys perhaps you should help Tauriel and Legolas in the stables.” Elrond said sternly to the twins “Yes I’m sure they’ll appreciate it since they’ll need help grooming my elk before training.” Your father said whipping your mouth with a handkerchief “Maybe this won’t be so bad after all. I don’t get Dad’s attention much anymore.” Your inner voice said as you rested your head on his chest and gripped his red robes making him smile and kiss your forehead.

Hello fellow late teen transmasc bisexual lotr fan lol
Odd request i was just thinking of, but could you do a platonic Gandalf & reader where it's a modern au and he's reader's grandpa? Reader is struggling with school or stuff like that (general teen angst stuff) and Gandalf comforts them and gives them a talk about dealing with adversity and whatnot? Just found your blog, can't wait to read!
Omg hii and tysm for sending a request💕 genuinely wasn't expecting one so soon! I haven't properly written in awhile so again I hope it's alright🙏
Tumblr media
life could be difficult, especially when you're young and still trying to figure things out. The pressure of school, other peoples opinions of you and your opinion of yourself can weigh heavy and make things all the more challenging.
School had been stressful, more so than usual as exams were coming up. (Name) does his best, he's not bad at school necessarily but it's hard regardless. All the stress was making relaxing near impossible, he couldn't remember the last time he actually felt okay, let alone actually feeling good.
As he walked home from school, his mind wandered, not to really anything specific. His train of thought would jump from one depressing thought to another. But the thoughts quickly faded from (name)'s mind as entered his house and realized who was visiting. With the excitement of a little kid on Christmas day, he rushed to the living room to find him. "Grandpa! I didn't know you were coming!" (name) exclaimed, practically throwing himself into Gandalfs arms.
Gandalf chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around his grandson. "(Name), my boy! Look at you, you've grown" he hummed softly, setting aside his pipe. Gandalf pulled back from the hug, his smile fading into worry as he looked into his grandsons eyes. "you look tired, have you not been getting sleep?"
(name) sighed at the question, moving to sit down in the chair across from his grandpa. "I don't know... Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't..." He replied with a shrug of his shoulders. He didn't want to burden his grandpa with his problems, he just wanted to enjoy the moment, the short break from the stress.
Gandalf hummed to himself, eyes narrowing in suspicion. He knew there was more going on, there always is. He remembers being a teenager, though it was so long ago... It was hard. There's a lot going on. Gandalf picked his pipe back up, muttering to himself as he fidgeted with it. Soon he spoke up "it's hard being so young, the world doesn't give you a break even when you're at your limit and on top of it all you have to figure yourself out. " he spoke softly, his blue eyes shining slightly. "But sometimes you have to give yourself a break if the world doesn't. Spoil yourself a little, my boy. You certainly deserve it"
Gandalf thought quietly for a moment before adding onto his sentence. "I know how cruel others can be, especially around your age - don't let those cruel folks hold you back from finding the good ones, (name) "
(name) listened intently as his grandpa spoke, tears forming in his eyes. Gandalf always had a way with words, A way of providing support even when it felt like nothing could comfort you. "Thank you, grandpa" (name) muttered softly, quickly climbing out of his chair to embrace Gandalf again.
Gandalf chuckled softly, pressing a soft kiss to (name)'s forehead. "now, how about we order something to eat? It'll be my treat" he hummed, winking slightly.

Hope you like it I tried my best🙏 I'll probably change how I write as I get back into it

(The hobbit self-insert. Based on the movies. apologies if anyone is ooc. I DO NOT claim to own the hobbit series or any characters, scenes, or lands therein)
PART 1/2
*IM BACK... for now :) enjoy!*
"Hobbit hole...gotta find the right one... uhh... where's the-the uh-the marking? Gandalf said there'd be a marking on one of these doors..." I muttered to myself, scanning the sixth round door I've come across for any such marking. Again, nothing to be found. I rolled my hand in a fist and gently thumped it against my thigh in distress. Why, why is it every time someone gives me directions my anxiety overcomplicates it and makes me forget half of what they told me.
I stepped back from the door to give myself room to calm down. Flipping my hands in an anxious stim as if to rid myself of the cold negativity closing in on my heart. I hate my stupid anxiety.
Alright, next door.
I do have to say, the shire is one of my favorite places I've been in all of Middle Earth. the rolling hills turned dark in the cold of the night, the babbling creek glistening in the distance, and the luscious light smell of the colorful wildflowers that bloomed on every doorstep. It was quite an aspiring place to live, and with each step I found myself thinking how wonderful it would be if one day I too could roam the vast landscape as one of its many inhabitants.
I froze,... what was i looking for again?
The door, that's right gotta find the meeting place.
I continued Walking on the gravel path until I came upon the next rounded door, its green paint tinted blue in the gentle moonlight.
"I swear if this isn't the door I'm going home." I whispered to myself in quiet plea, quickly looking the door over for the hidden mark.
My eyes lit up the moment I found the glowing rune at the foot of the door, releasing a relived sigh from my tensed body. pulling myself from my noisy mind, I noticed I could hear the faint murmur of rowdy banter inside.
"There better be food like he promised." I muttered, pushing the doorbell causing a light jangling of bells to ring out from inside the cozy abode.
As I waited, I straightened myself up, dusting off my large grey cloak. Running my hands through my short hair and tucking my long thin braid behind my ear, wanting to make a good impression.
The door opened to show a disgruntled hobbit, still in his bed robes.
"NO, NO MORE, I CAN'T TAKE IT! THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY DWARVES-" he stopped when Gandalf placed a hand on his shoulder, moving him aside.
"Kaye, my dear, its lovely to see you!" Gandalf said pulling me in for a hug, and effectively ignoring the small hobbits complaints.
"it's wonderful to see you again as well Gandalf! I was rather surprised to receive your letter, especially since you have neglected to visit me in quite some time. " I said, pulling away from the embrace to examine my mentor better. Hes looking as youthful as ever I sarcastically thought.
"I do apologize, I have been quite busy you know."
"No worries, I understand. Any way to more pressing concerns-" I said as Gandalf moved out of the way, motioning for me to come inside. I had to duck to fit into the small archway, I suppose it was not made with a human's height in mind, defiantly a hobbit home.
He closed the door and looked at me curiously waiting for me to continue.
"Where is the food?" I finished.
He let out a soft chuckle as he offered to take my belongings off my hands, complying I removed my cloak, bag, and my bow and passed it to him, opting to keep my bladed staff with me, its blue green gem glistening coldly in the flickering firelight.
I then turned to Bilbo,
"Thank you for letting us into your home, it's quite cozy." I complimented him and bowed in thanks.
He let out a few incomprehensible stutters and seemed to glare disappointedly at the floor before Gandalf guided me to what I could assume where all the commotion was going down. Ducking past a couple more archways and nicely furnished rooms, the noise escalated as we passed a final arch. The room beyond was a small dining room, with a lovely wooden table in the center. surrounding the table was the rowdiest gaggle of dwarves I had ever laid eyes on. Throwing food to one another, drinking copious amounts of ale, and ...WALKING ON THE TABLE?! I stared in disbelief. I knew dwarves didn't have the best table manners but this...they made my poor manners look dignified, and that's saying something.
Once I took a few cautious steppes into the chaotic room, all the dwarves slowly took notice of me.
"Who's the lad?" a dwarf with a half bald head and a black forked beard commented.
I winced. I figured this would happen, I am often mistaken as a man because of my uncommonly short hair and androgenous face. I don't mind it so much, but it does get rather annoying when it happens every time I meet someone.
Maybe I should buy some makeup...
"A-actually I'm-" Gandalf cut me off.
"This is my apprentice, miss Kaphyra. She'll be joining us on our quest." He said, subtlety correcting the dwarf.
Catching the hint, he coughed in embarrassment. everyone seemed to stare at me in disbelief for a while until they glanced down at my chest, recognizing their mistake rather quickly. I crossed my arms in discomfort, trying to cover up a little more. I yearned for the comfort of my large figureless cloak. they quickly looked away moving to snicker at the dwarf's folly, and he glared them down.
"Apologies" he mumbled quietly.
The chatter slowly continued, and Gandalf sat me by him in an empty seat, which was rather small. I was passed a ceramic plate and began to load it with food, roasted golden tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, juicy peaches, warm bread, slices of ham and lamb, all with wonderful drizzles of honey and vinegar.
"Would you like some ale lass?" the dwarf to my left asked.
"Ah, no thank you! is there any tea or water?" I inquired.
"Aye, PASS THE TEA!" the dwarf yelled across the table. in return a dwarf with white hair and intricate braids covering his entire head passed a teapot over in my direction.
I thanked them and poured myself a cup of... what smelled like chamomile tea. Wonderful, I would sleep good tonight.
alright I'm gonna end that here, and I will have more soon! im gonna add a few picrews depicting my looks in the next part.
sorry for my break! I'll try to post more soon.
reblogs are appreciated! thanks for reading!!

Lord of the rings X druid!reader headcanons
Legolas x reader, Thranduil x reader, Gandalf x reader (platonic), Merry/Pippin x reader (platonic), Elanor x reader.
Tumblr media
Legolas
🧚‍♀️ Legolas is very curious and excited! He wants to know EVERYTHING about you and what you can do!
🧚‍♀️ But he finds the fact that you can turn to different kinds of animals the most interesting, and asks you a lot of questions about every animal you can transform too.
“Y/n what is that for an odd creature?”
“It’s a seastar”
“A STAR!??” 🤩
🧚‍♀️ Asks you if he can touch you in your animal forms. He lights up with happiness when you say ‘yes’ and touches you with utmost care and curiosity.
🧚‍♀️ Loves carrying you around in your smaller forms. If you turn to a snake he’ll put you around his neck like a necklace, a bird on his head or any other animal that can be on his shoulders.
🧚‍♀️ When the fellowship was in the snowy mountains and while the others had to walk in the deep snow, you were a little mouse in Legolas warm pocket. Not needing to do anything and Legolas didn’t need to worry about your safety. Win-win.
Tumblr media
Thranduil
“I thought the druids died out for 4000 years ago, guess i was wrong”
🍷 Like Legolas he is very much interested but in a more calmer and quieter way. He also likes the animal shapes more.
🍷 He likes when you turn to a little bird and sit on his shoulder whenever he goes to different places.
🍷 LOVES when he sits on his throne and you turn to a smaller animal and sit on his large hand and put your tiny paws on his fingers- the king has heart eyes. 😍 (yes you are his pet now lol) And he totally would feed you grapes too.
🍷 Other than that he also likes your plant and flower abilities. He has left the garden's beauty to you and it is shining more beautifully than it ever has since you came into his life- or perhaps it is just (amazing) you who has grown beautiful and colorful flowers in his heart❤.
🍷 And of course he will try out some of your abilities in the bedroom 😉
Tumblr media
Gandalf
🧙‍♂️ Sorry Frodo, Sorry Bilbo, y/n is his number one favorite friend now!
🧙‍♂️ He is very fascinated over your elemental abilities. Wind, water, fire, plants/trees? “What can you do?”
🧙‍♂️ Gandalf would try (hard) to not sound too eager and excited when you show him. But he can’t help but smile and laugh when you make a phoenix appear out of the fire.
🧙‍♂️ Might show you his ‘magic’ if you ask nicely and you will inspire one another.
🧙‍♂️ If you have any difficulties with your training and elemental controlling he will give you advice and guidance with what he knows.
🧙‍♂️ Gandalf wouldn't mind if you join him for a while on his journey. He greatly enjoys your company.
Tumblr media
Merry/Pippin
🤡 Oh no! OH NOOO! Gandalf will pray to god ... .PLEASE DON’T LET THE WORLD END!!
🤡 When they learn what you are, they will storm you with questions. They will drag you with them for every little prank and misery they are planning.
“Y/n, can you turn to bird and poop on someone's hea-” (pippin)
“No!”
“Can you poop in someones drin-”
“No!”
“Can you-”
“ENOUGH WITH THESE POOP REQUESTS!!!!”
🤡 If you meet on the ring quest, they will ask you to turn to a larger and fluffy animal, like a bear so they can sleep with (on) you on cold nights (like the bear in jungle book? Yes!) Boromir will get jealous because you stole his children. 😢
Tumblr media
Elanor Brandyfoot
🐌 The others don't trust you and don't want you around until you show them how quickly you can turn seeds to flowers.
🐌 Elanor will try to calm them down and talk to them so they don’t ‘use’ you for their ‘food greed’.
🐌 You two will have a contest of who is quickest to fill a bucket with berries, buuut of course Elanor wins.
“Looks like ya powers weren't able to outmatch me!”
🐌 She loves to see your abilities and is very happy that others like you too and have accepted you to the group, but she gets a little jealous when you get too much attention because she wants to be alone with you too!
🐌 She loves the evenings when things have been calming down and laying under the stars with her head on your (larger) animal form. Petting you is very calming for her and she mostly falls asleep like that with you.
Thank you for reading! I hope you like it! 💖

i’ve a request, could u write kili durin x male!reader where the reader asks to braid kilis hair not realising that it’s courtship in the dwarfish culture. kíli has the biggest crush on the reader and takes this as a sign that the reader likes him back. the reader did not realise that’s what braiding a dwarfs hair means and was also totally oblivious to kilis crush on him and never noticed he was flirting and always assumed he was just very friendly, but obviously the reader likes kili back and it’s just total fluff 😋😋
thank you smm 💞💞
Braids and Courting
Kili Durin X Gn Elf Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being an elf wasn't as great as some beings would think. Of course with being an elf there was skills you had to learn, that were useful. The long and beautiful hair, the soft skin, the pointed ears and the youthful look. All those were great of course.
What wasn't that great was being part of the higher class elves. This meant that eventually you would have to marry and usually you didn't love the person next to you. It was just part of the routine in everyone's life. However you didn't want to wake up next to someone that didn't love you. Or someone you didn't love.
So that's exactly why you left home when you did. It wasn't long before you met Gandalf the Wizard. Him knowing who you were of course, because that man had a lot of knowledge after all his years of living. He had stayed with you for a bit, and it didn't take him long until he invited you to join the group. Of course you could never say no to an adventure so you agreed.
That's exactly how you ended up right here. You had been with the group of dwarfs for a long while now. Even before the hobbit came along and joined you guys.
You were fairly close with fili and thorin, those two were like your best friends. The others you were like a family with except for one. Kili who was filis brother, he was someone you felt strong feelings for. Feelings that go past platonic or familiar feelings. No these were feelings of love, however you never knew how to express these types of feelings because you never really saw it being done.
Over the span of time there had been many moments where Kili had done very sweet things. Things that made your heart pound and your stomach feel weird but of course you thought it was just him being friendly.
-----
Walking around with Thorin in comfortable silence as you both looked for another path was interrupted when you hear someone join you. Turning to look who it was you saw Kili beside you. He looked up at you and held out some berries. "here I had a feeling you would be getting a bit hungry around this time. Have some of these, I have extra"
He grabs your hand and places the berries in your hand. "thank you but don't you need them?" Kili shakes his head "No take them" he squeezes your hand gently before walking back towards his brother. Leaving the quiet thank you that left your lips just drifting into the air.
It was too dark to see the faintest of smile form on Thorin's lips as you go back beside him and eat the berries that Kili had given you.
-----
There had been many times like this
There was one day when all of you had found a big field of flowers. You were so focused on drawing the scene. You liked to draw pretty things and so you were sitting by a tree drawing on a piece of parchment with a pencil you had brought.
In fact you were so focused you didn't even notice how Kili had been picking flowers and making you a flower crown. Eventually when he was finished he came and sat next to you. You rested your head on his shoulder for just a second before looking over at him "hi Kili"
Just the sound of his name coming from your lips made him smile. "hi y/n" he replied before grabbing the flower crown he had made you. "here put this on. Have to see if it fits"
You lower your head a bit so he could place it on your head. It fit perfectly and when you sit back up and look at him. He smiles and nods "perfect, it looks good on you" You smile and blush very softly. "thank you" he nods and walks away.
When he is a good distance away his brother. Your best friend comes and sit on the other side of you. "how long are you going to be blind to the fact that my brother is infatuated with you?" The shocked look on your face makes him laugh. "what? what do you mean, infatuated?"
He looks at you and sighs "You cant tell me you havent noticed the way he always makes you things and gives you things. Always making sure your cared for" Your silent for a moment before it all comes together. "oh"
Fili places his hand on your shoulder "i will let you decide what to do with this information" He gets up and walks away leaving you to think about what to do.
Kili had made something for you and given you things so you decide you should do something for him. You've recently noticed that he has been pushing his hair out of his face more frequently than normal so you decide you would braid his hair for him. Just so its out of his face.
You get up after putting your things away back into your bag. Then begin to walk over to where Kili is. When you get to him he notices you right away and looks at you. "hey Kili. Could you come sit with me for a moment?" He nods and walks with you and sits against the tree next to you.
"everything okay?" he asks a little worried but when you give him a nod and take a breath to calm yourself. "would you mind if I did your hair. I've noticed you pushing it out of your face a lot recently and id like to help?" He looks at you for a moment before turning around.
"what are you going to do with it?" He asks
"i'm just going to braid it. I promise I will make it look good" you reply
Kili looks straight ahead so you don't see the smile that's forming on his face. In the dwarf culture braiding hair is a sign of courtship. He didn't know if you knew that or not but either way he decided to play it cool. Not wanting to make you uncomfortable and you stop.
You kneel behind him on your knees to get in a more comfortable position. Then you begin to gently get all of his hair and pushing it back so you can split it into three sections. Once its in three sections you begin to twist them all with each other, braiding his hair very nicely.
Kili was sitting there patiently not saying much. But you do notice the way he rests his head against your hands. His whole body seems to relax under your touch and a sigh escapes him when you begin to gently massage his shoulders.
When you are finally finished you pull away and he turns around and looks at you. "thank you" he says and you nod. "you look very handsome Kili. I hope you will let me do it again sometime"
He nods and brings your hand up to kiss the back of it. "of course, you are the only one ill let touch my hair." You smile and nod "great ill be honoured" when the both of you get up and go your separate ways Kili gets a few looks since most of them know what this means.
You on the other hand are pulling your bag back over your shoulders. Doing your own thing, when Thorin walks up to you. "y/n" he says which causes you to look over at him. "Thorin"
Thorin looks at Kili and then back to you. "i'm assuming that you are the one that braided his hair?" You nod in response "yes I am, is that a problem?" He shakes his head "no of course not. I just have one question, Do you know that braiding a dwarfs hair means you are courting them?"
A smile forms on your face, no second thoughts are needed. "I know that now. And I find myself rather pleased that people will know that the both of us are together" Thorin smiles and nods placing his hand on your shoulder. "well its about time" he jokes a bit.
This causes you to smile and decide to tease him back. "how about you and the hobbit? When will you two decide to court each other" Thorin blushes very lightly and shakes his head "I don't know what you mean by that"
"mhm sure you dont" you say with a smirk before walking up to Kili. This time instead of standing beside him, you slip your hand into his and hold onto it. From that day on everyone knew that the two of you were spoken for.

Hello! I saw that you said your requests for The Hobbit were open, which made me very excited because I love your writing style so much. May I please request for you to write something with Gandalf telling Thorin & Co. he’s adding someone to the company and them being very annoyed, and then Mr. Gandalf—in his infinite wisdom—referring to y/n as “she” and them flipping the frickity frick out because women are fragile and dainty and need to be protected (cue eye roll). Then upon meeting her, she’s a wee bit unhinged and wild and overall just Morally Gray Slightly Insane Badass? I’m thinking of Harley Quinn’s fight scenes from Bird of Prey where she’s just super kickass and efficient, slamming people into the ground and twirling her bat around like a baton.
I’m sorry if this is too specific! I’d love to see what you would do with this prompt. You can add any pairings you would like. If it doesn’t interest you, then I respect that, feel free to ignore! Thank you!
THIS IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION I think we need a little bit more badass (Y/N), come on guys
But yes, absolutely. This looks like it should have a part two, so if anybody wants that lemme know.
~Her~
the company x fem!reader (platonic)
Tumblr media
Summary: Gandalf is adding somebody new to the company (albeit without telling Thorin), and the company are shocked when he lets one little pronoun slip.
Warnings: A bit of sexism (the dwarves think all women are quite meek and dainty), (Y/N) is an absolute girlboss so prepare for that
A/N: I'm rewatching the Hobbit atm. kili >>>>>>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gandalf towered over the dwarves - and Bilbo - as he spoke rapidly to try and avoid the orcs within a nearby fortress. "I think now would be best to tell you of the newest member of the company."
The dwarves looked at each other, suspicious of the wizard's intentions. Thorin's dark brows furrowed above his eyelids.
"Go on." He said, voice firm and demanding.
"Well, I believe this person will be a very good addition. A trained fighter, a little crazy, albeit, but still a useful asset."
Thorin's crystal eyes glared at Gandalf.
"And how much of this did you care to inform me of?"
"Thorin, I assure you, this is all going to work out-"
"Can we, like, not be doing this right now? In a few seconds, a whole army of orcs is going to burst through those doors." Fili spoke up, pulling two daggers from his pockets.
Kili nodded at his brother's words. "Yeah, just cut to the chase, what does this 'new member' go by?"
"Well, if I am correct, her-"
An uproar of 'her?' and 'what is he on about's erupted from the dwarves, all of them waving their weapons mockingly, before Thorin raised a hand to silence them.
"You're trying to sabotage us." "Thorin-" "A woman? Really?" Gandalf's gaze averted to the fortress, listening intently of any sign of destruction, as Thorin continued ranting angrily.
"Women do not fight, they are more accustomed to sewing needles than they are swords, why would you- what in Mahal's name are you looking at?" The dwarf king turned, as did the rest of the company, to see the orc fortress burst into flames.
Fire covered the entire structure, but even in the blazing embers and smoke they could see a figure walking towards them.
"Who is that?" Oin asked, tilting his head to get a better look at the person walking.
Gandalf smirked a knowing smile as he watched the dwarves' awe.
"That, Master Oin, is the newest member of the company. I would like you to meet (Y/N) (L/N)."
Tumblr media
Everybody watched in pure shock as (Y/N) walked towards them, twirling a bat in her hand as if it weighed nothing, a sinister laugh falling from her lips.
"H-Her?" Bilbo asked, the hobbit clearly rather intimidated by this strange human, to which Gandalf sent him a comforting smile.
Finally, she stopped in front of them, blowing a large pink bubble with her gum before popping it with her teeth and chewing it, mouth open in a wide grin.
"Her." She said, leaning on her bat as if it were an arm rest. Mahal, this journey just got a lot more interesting.

Relationships: (Platonical) Eowyn x (Fem)Gondorian!Reader / Eowyn x Aragorn (crush talking)/ Pippin x (Fem)Gondorian Reader
Warnings: Use of she/her pronoums
Summary: As a prelude to the celebrations on the victory over Saruman, the ladies of Rohan and Gondor participate in a simple encounter that seils their friendship validating each other's feelings in dark and lightfull topics concerning their hearts.
Note: For my dear friend @beautifultypewriter, inspired in her Gondor Girl concept. ( If you happen to like this one, I will keep working on releasing one more going full into the idea I brainstormed to you in dms)
Even after witnessing his demise, the voice of Saruman kept haunting her mind for a while during the trip back to Edoras. Despite being warned about it, she had certainly not behaved properly when facing the evil wizard responsible for the orc attack that caused the death of her brother followed by the kidnap of the hobbits. For once, she was the one doing exactly what Gandalf told her not to do and paid the price.
As a result of her angered search for a confrontation, she made herself another target of the prideful scolding. Saruman shifted guilt with skillful rhetoric, saying it was her who failed Boromir and let him die. The charm of his voice got her heart stricken with guilt. Although he didn’t waste much time on her, his insults were precise. He called her a wild beast that in nothing resembled the grace of a gondorian lady, a standing proof of the inexorable degradation in the lineage of Numenor that the ruling of Aragorn would not fix. In his conclusion, he didn’t forget to mention that Denethor would have rather been freed of a daughter than robbed of his eldest son.
From all those claims, he presented at least one truth.
The reminder of her father’s indifference was the last thing she needed at that precise moment. After acquiring a modest glory in the battlefield for the first time in her young life, being forced to think of Denethor was like having the victory being taken away. Her wins were twisted into flaws, making her feel once more relegated to the obscure spot he reserved for her back home.
Only the sweet voice of Pippin bringing her back from the self absorption as they were riding away from Isengard managed to counteract the perverse effect. Given the rushed nature of their reencounter, he accepted no one else to take him merely because he wanted more time with her. The excited ramblings from her beloved hobbit about the escape from the orcs, his adventures in Fangorn, and his involvement on the attack plan of the Ents were enough to ease her heart.
On his part, Merry didn’t hesitate on reclaiming his share of the honors while hearing the tales from close, but he also understood that his cousin was trying to impress his lady. In return, Gimli told them in a prideful tease about the bewilderment that a certain gondorian shieldmaiden had caused among the Rohirrim through her courageous acts fighting alongside him, Legolas and Aragorn in the front line at Helm’s Deep. His comments made Pippin’s impulse to present himself in an heroic light increase with his admiration of her.
It was simply lovely and she didn’t doubt in filling him with praise until he became a blushing mess hiding behind her. At the same time, he had accidentally reminded her of how proud Boromir would have been if he could have seen them together again after performing such great actions and that thought casted the sadness away. Time for celebrations was approaching and that brought a different, simpler reminder to her calmer mind.
Until then, the people of Theoden had only met one side of her. Precisely the one she had forbidden at home, since they knew her as the warrior maiden of the Fellowship initially playing wolf on sheep’s clothing for Wormtongue only to reveal herself moments later. Since that fight the situation allowed her to never get back in disguise. The refined lady of Gondor once seen in Rivendell never stepped Rohan, but she thought it would be fun if she would make a comeback for the party.
Let no one say ever again that she had no glimpses of the grace legends attributed to her bloodline.
Presented with all the comforts that Eowyn could share with her, the transformation became an easy and midly fun previous step. It gave them time to have a good long talk together while taking part on a lady-like activity that wouldn't raise any concerns. The niece of Theoden had her own personal interest guiding a sudden want to perform feminity, one her friend knew that she wouldn't comment with anyone else. Revisiting her wardrove in the calm of her bedroom while talking of the latest events she didn't got to witness was a good start for both. For instance, she was a witness watching for her and willing to share details that her relatives didn't bother on comment to her before.
" He died doing what he loved, ... backstabbing his master. " The gondorian joked into her telling of Wormtongue's death. " Your uncle, infinitely kind hearted as he is, was still offering him a second chance. I think that worm realized he had made a strong bet on the wrong horse, but Legolas gave him no span to show the king any regrets. An arrow to his chest, quite ironical way to die considering what he did. "
Eowyn gave her a half smile, unsure of how to feel besides from a deep relief.
" His black heart craved only power, control over me."
The girl knew exactly what she meant. Her meticulous work hidding the most controversial aspects of herself from her father's sight weren't enough to keep her fame completely clean. Rumours had spread subtly, and to many men craving control those have came out as attractive. If the only daugther of the Steward was wild as the forest, every single one of them believed themselves to be the one that could tame her.
" You are free of him." She sweetly concluded, holding her hand and abandoning her sight from the beautifull garments to focus completely on her. " And we can still hate him in secret, if you wish. I have encountered my own amount of despicable noblemen in Gondor, but none of them has yet sold to the dark power hoping to receive me as spoil of war from the looting of his own countrymen. You resisted with courage, one of the kind that many soldiers in the battlefield won't understand. I do, and admire you for it. "
It was the most heartfelt compliment Eowyn had received in a good while and it was hard to explain why a surprising happiness invaded her.
" You, my friend? After obtaining glory for both of us? "
The gondorian was eyeing the blue fabric of a cute dress she was considering to choose.
A reminder of the sea, of her mother.
" Would you believe me if I tell you that your domestic feat remains more impressive to me than all my killings at Helm's Deep?" She suddenly confessed. " Being alone in Minas Tirith with Denethor would be a nightmare on itself. To that add one of my brothers dead and the other one exiled, while also having to flee from the advances of a repulsive man seeking to submit me through resignation. Inviting me everyday to accept him as some inevitable fate, remiding me I'm alone in the world ... I don't think I would have endured it as well as you did, always keeping your royal dignity."
Eowyn had sat on the bed and, dress in hand, her friend followed.
" If you think I'm strong, please look at yourself, because your strenght inspired me that night."
" In some twisted way that escapes all forseen ends, justice was served. " Was her simple reply. " Your brother and my cousin are avenged."
The garment was carefully placed at their side as the guest rushed to hug her.
" Vengeance is not over, because you are going to look gorgeous for your crush and have fun. " She mischievously whispered. " Haven't you think about it? The hatred on Grima's eyes as he was leaving Meduseld was too focused on Aragorn, and now I think I see why ... "
The rohirrim lady looked up in shamefull surprise.
" No, you don't! " She attempted to defend herself in a playfull tone, breaking the contact. " That's not true, and I don't know how it occured to you, but ..."
" But Arwen is leaving with her kind, as far as I know, so I don't see an issue." The gondorian encouraged her. " I got to meet her in Rivendell, and I meet her father ... If I had one as wonderfull as Elrond, I would too seek to follow him. Besides, you are my best friend and Aragorn has become like a brother to me. if a mortal woman shall eventually come to cure his sadness, I would rather her be you. "
Her eyes were shinning with hope, but not only to the kind voice inspiring her yet a third kind of courage to face her growing feelings for the Ranger.
Loneliness fading, like ice slowly melting, to the certainty of knowing she had found a friend. Another presumably lonely young woman, at least in terms of companionship that could be found of other women, who had so quickly shifted such strong affection towards her.
" As my beloved friend that you are, I beg you not to feed my dreams so soon."
" Allow yourself to dream for a while, you deserve it" The foreign girl insisted. " If things don't work as we expected, we will deal with that later ... Together. "
She liked the sound of the last sentence, but kept her objections.
" How? Do you know the cure for a broken heart? "
" Let that brave heart of yours to take the risk, not only by the blade its strenght can be measured. " The gondorian concluded, then kissed her forehead. " If turns out my brother of the sword is not the one, I still have one more blood brother to introduce you to. And if you don't like that one, I'm pretty sure Merry has no hobbit lass waiting for him at the Shire. "
Her positivity and will to comfort her ended up getting a few chuckles out of her. Not exactly because of the jokes, but due to the happyness she found in her insistent support.
" I believe your love for the halflings is starting to put Gandalf's to shame."
The called out lady smiled, clearly on remembrance of her own infatuation.
" One stay in Rivendel and days of travel on our quest was all it took for Peregrin Took to win me over, and he wasn't even trying. " She began to tell. " There are some men of Gondor that think not much different from the says of Saruman about me: a wild beast, only to them I'm a fair one ... And all wildeness is up to be conquered and rulled, owned to make use of. They approach me like a mare in need of taming, thinking they will perform the miracle of my submission. Do you understand now how could I have fallen for one of hobbits that released the forest? "
She could have continued, but no more words were needed to make her understand the core of her reasoning on her feelings.
" Wouldn't you prefer the green one?" Eowyn pointed out, regarding the dress choice. " In homeage to Fangorn, and your love."

A Night To Remember
You know how Sam got pulled into the fellowship by dropping some eaves? Well, imagine that, but my dear reader, you are Bilbo’s gardener and you happen to overhear the most intriguing conversation pertaining to a certain quest for a mountain!
This is the first fic that I have ever posted, I hope you like it! I appreciate comments and reblogs! Also, I nearly named it "Dropping Eaves" haha
Hobbit fem!reader with the last name of Underhill no use of y/n! (I tried to keep it vague but I thought I should add the hobbit’s iconic wavy and curly hair, so boom, you have hobbit hair :>)
Relationships:
All platonic!
Warnings include:
Mention of ale (Like once, I think)
Embarrassment (does that count as a warning? I think it does)
Thorin being moody (what’s new?)
Tumblr media
When you decided to stay late to trim Mr. Baggins' hedges, you had not imagined there would be so much activity! The freshly painted door endured an onslaught of abuse as knock after knock sounded through the crisp night air. You had briefly wondered if dear Mr. Bilbo had planned a party and neglected to invite you. But that idea was soon tossed out of your mind as you heard the hobbit in question squawk in indignation as yet another stranger entered his home. You could practically picture it! His face would be flushed and exasperated and how he would stomp his feet as hobbit after hobbit entered through the round door- no that wasn’t quite right, Bilbo’s unexpected company did not seem to be shire-folk.
You quickly moved from your spot next to a lovely bush of flowers to a shaded alcove near a window which was open just a crack. Carefully you moved to peer inside but stilled as you realized you were about to invade the privacy of your employer. You could never do such a thing, as you considered yourself a respectable hobbit! But as Bilbo raised his voice once more, you heard yourself mutter oh, bother! And nimbly moved to look through the pane of glass.
Inside was at first, as you expected, warm and filled with the comforts of home, but the longer you looked the more confused you became. It seemed Mr. Baggins' house had been invaded by a group of bearded folk! They were taller than Bilbo but not near tall enough to be human. Dwarves then, you resolved but paused to wonder what dwarves were doing in the small corner of the world you called home. As you pondered, you saw a tall man who was most definitely not a dwarf, nor a hobbit, hunched over in the hall next to Bilbo. With his back facing you, you could not tell who he was. Perhaps they had come to rob Mr. Bilbo of all his earthly possessions! The thought did not seem entirely implausible as you watched the dwarves carry chairs, silverware, dishes and what seemed to be the tea cakes you had baked for Bilbo!
But luckily for Bilbo, you thought, it did not seem that they would run off with his belongings but instead set the table farther down the hall. You struggled to see them but you found no trouble in hearing the merry gathering as they shouted happily and exchanged mugs of Ale. To put it mildly, it fascinated you! Whenever Bilbo let you use his library, you jumped towards his books and ledgers filled with stories of far-off places and beings. You dreamed of exploring the woods and meeting all manner of creatures, but never did you think you would realize that dream, let alone in the Shire! The most brilliant of smiles was painted upon your face as you watched Bilbo and his guests, suddenly wishing you could join in on the merry-making. However, you would settle for being a fly on the wall.
As the evening continued, you could not pull yourself away from the small window, never before had you seen Bilbo in such an uproar, only to be dismissed as his guests began to sing the most lively of tunes! You balled your hands into the fabric of your gardening apron to keep them from clapping along to the beat of the song, which centred on the displeasure of Bilbo. Oh, how you could live in this moment forever! As the song came to a close, there was a pounding on the door that caused you to startle and fall back into a freshly-weeded flower bed.
You scrambled back to your place in the alcove as you heard the door open. Pressing yourself close to the outside of Bagend, you listened. A deep voice sounded, though you could not clearly hear him. As the voices moved through the house, you began to worry that you may be spotted. Quickly, you ducked low but as you lowered yourself below the window, you could have sworn a tall man in grey looked your way.
Inside the warm house, the dwarves gathered close to their leader and the party shuffled back to the table that had been cleaned off moments before. Gandalf however, had his sharp eyes focused on a window where a flash of curled hair moved downwards. With a deep hum, he turned back to the dwarves and one poor hobbit as they began their discussion.
After Gandalf had pressed the fact that a hobbit would be the perfect choice for a burglar, he excused himself to allow the dwarves to ruminate over his words. He moved through the house with relative ease, considering his size, and stayed close to the shadowed corners to avoid being seen by any possible interloper. Oh so silently, he made his way to the front door of Bagend and opened it slowly, avoiding any creaks and cracks. The grey wizard found himself rather relieved that Bilbo’s freshly painted door had also been oiled to move smoothly upon its hinges.
Meanwhile, you sat listening to the dwarves and Bilbo. The man who you now understood to be Gandalf the Grey, slipped by your watch as your eyes lit with thoughts of their noble quest to Erebor. How wonderful it sounded! Never had you felt so truly close to your favourite books and tales as you did now. Picturing yourself upon a steed, riding towards a lonesome mountain, fighting a great dragon and coming home filled with stories to share caused you to miss as a shadow grew behind you.
“And what do you think you are doing out here young Miss?” A looming voice questioned.
With a squeak, you fell away from the window and quickly turned to stare up at the wizard who stood so close to you. Panic set in as you failed to come up with an answer, and your eyes darted about only to land on your sheers which you had dropped on the ground earlier.
“I was trimming the hedges!” you blurted. Lying had never been your strongest skill but you were proficient enough to get yourself out of sticky situations. But when caught red-handed by an imposing wizard, all skill left you and you were left stuttering and grasping for a reply.
“A little late to be trimming the verge isn’t it?” he calmly rebutted.
“Well, I- well you see-” you began but were promptly cut off as Gandalf chuckled at your expense.
“My dear, it is plain to see that you were eavesdropping, but it is also very clear that your stealth is unmatched, for even I did not notice you for quite some time.”
You felt your face grow hot under his scrutinizing yet kind gaze. You couldn't quite tell if he was trying to compliment you or incriminate you further. When you played hide and seeking games with your neighbour's children you could go oh so long without being found! But in this case, you found yourself feeling rather deviant and ashamed. As Gandalf looked upon your face, it seemed he could see your thought pattern and stated in a soft voice “It was a good skill to have,” and added to the end, “Now, I think you should come inside and meet the others.” A mischievous smile crept onto his face as you swallowed.
Walking inside the familiar dwelling your feet dragged somewhat behind Gandalf’s steps but as you heard the voices of the dwarves you couldn’t help but perk up at the thought of speaking with them. Gandalf guided you to where they all sat and one by one, they turned to look at you with expressions of curiosity, mirth, and annoyance. Whether you were ready for your fantasies to come true or not it was time to face the beings you oft dreamt of meeting.
“Gandalf, who might this young lass be?” A dwarf with the strange hat said while staring at you, his eyes a warm brown that twinkled in the low light of the room.
“This, Master Bofur,” Gandalf began, “is Miss Underhill, Master Bilbo’s gardener I believe.”
Before Gandalf could continue, a dwarf with a refined air stood and questioned in the same deep voice you heard from the door, “And what exactly is she doing here?”
“Well, I-” Gandalf began but was once more interpreted as Bilbo walked back into the hall. He locked eyes with you, and they blew wide as he took in your slightly dishevelled appearance, for you were sure that you had grass stains and dirt upon your clothing from the day and evening happenings.
“Why, Miss Underhill, what on earth are you doing here at this hour?” he said, exasperation clear upon his face and in his voice. It was strange to hear your last name from him as you had grown quite close throughout your employment at Bagend. You reasoned all the shock of the evening had rattled him quite thoroughly already, and that your appearance did not help in the slightest. Looking back over to Gandalf, he looked rather annoyed to be interrupted but turned to you once more with a glint behind his eye that could only mean trouble.
“You see Master dwarf and hobbit, this young lady was trimming the hedge,” said with a pointed look at you, “when she overheard what was meant for our ears alone.”
“So she knows of our quest?” A young dwarf spoke up, your eyes flitted over to him and saw that his beard was little more than scruff. He must be quite young then, you thought.
“Yes Master Kili, she does know of our quest to the Lonely Mountain, and I believe that she would make a most splendid addition to the company.” Gandalf finished.
In an instant, the room was filled with voices disagreeing with each other. It seemed they grew louder and louder, and even Bilbo had joined in to protest the both of you attending such a venture. As the bickering continued, you looked about the room to see many disgruntled faces and you could only imagine your look of shock at the prospect of joining their quest to take back their home.
“Enough!” The dwarven leader roared and the room quickly fell quiet. “Gandalf, first, you propose that an unqualified burglar join us,” He began with a cadence of resentment, “And then you bring a gardener into our meeting without warning and demand she be added to our company!”
“Aye, the wild is no place for gentle-folk who can neither fight nor fend for themselves.” A large dwarf with a tattooed head spoke up, and you found yourself suddenly defensive of both your livelihood and your ability to handle yourself outside of your home.
“As I have said.” Gandalf stated sternly, “Hobbits are remarkably light on their feet and our interloper,” he gestured to you, “seems to have quite the gift for stealth as she has been here for longer than all of us.”
All eyes turned to you and you once again grew warm under the stare of so many beings. You opened your mouth to speak, but the words didn’t come out, you closed your eyes for a moment and took a breath. Opening them once more, your eyes drifted to Bilbo who looked entirely perplexed.
“Well, I- You see I- I was staying late to finish cutting down some of the hedges and tend to the magnolia bush, you see, I’m sure it will bloom soon and- and-” you trailed off.
“And?” An old dwarf with a snow-white beard raised an eyebrow as he cued you to continue. You swallowed and gathered yourself once more, now determined to make a better impression than a stealthy interloper, as Gandalf had so kindly put it.
“I was finishing my work when all of you started to arrive and I was simply fascinated as I have never seen any dwarves before. To state it simply, my curiosity got the better of me, I hope you’ll forgive me.” You looked down as you finished, afraid of how the party would look at you or what they would say. There was a weighty silence that prevented you from moving a centimetre.
“Well, I must say that it’s rather impressive not even Kili and I had noticed you!” A voice exclaimed in a cheery tone, you slowly raised your eyes to see a dwarf with golden hair smiling at you, and you found a small smile creeping onto your own face.
“Aye, and I assure you, we are quite keen!” The young dwarf who must have been Kili replied. At this, you started to feel a sense of hope that you would not be cast out but rather, welcomed into the group, however, your thoughts were interpreted as the leader of the dwarves looked your way and spoke.
“Regardless of any petty skill, I fail to see the claim you have to join us in our quest. Furthermore, why should I allow another addition to the company?” He said, not quite as a question but as a statement. You found yourself suddenly annoyed, had you given reason for him to question your integrity?
“Well, I find it rather insulting that you would write me off without a second thought. Furthermore,” you began mimicking his words, “from what I gather, Mr. Bilbo is yet to agree to join, leaving you a burglar short!”
“Lass, are you sure you would want to take on such a burdensome quest?” The old dwarf with snow-white hair spoke up, “Not to mention the many dangers that lay ahead.”
Before you could reply, you looked to Bilbo, who was visibly pale and faint. Cautiously, you asked him if he was quite alright and to your surprise, he laughed.
“You can’t possibly be entertaining this! To think, you and me gallivanting across the world!” Poor Bilbo seemed frantic and before you could think through your reply you uttered to Mr. Baggins horror that you were considering joining. Bilbo threw up his hands and began to walk toward his sitting room, and Gandalf took the silent moment as his cue to speak up.
“Well, I think that settles it. Balin, will you fetch the contract?” Gandalf smiled down at you, and you couldn't help but return the gesture, the old dwarf, known as Balin looked over to their leader and he gave a small and reluctant nod. As a lengthy piece of paper was passed over to you, you began reading. You would never admit it, but you skimmed most of the contract looking for the place where you would leave your signature. With a smile, you accepted a quill from Gandalf and cemented your place in the company.
Balin took the contract back and after looking it over, turned to you and said “Well, Miss Underhill, I formally welcome you to the company of Thorin Oakansheild.”
There was a round of cheers, and you shook hands with most of the dwarves in the room. Your eyes, however, looked towards the sitting room where Bilbo had retreated to. Gandalf seemed to follow your line of sight and hunched down to whisper to you that Balin possessed an extra copy of the contract and that you may yet travel with Mr. Baggins.
Suddenly overwhelmed with emotion you turned to face Gandalf and thanked him, for this was truly a night to remember.

P! Gandalf x F! Reader
“Hearty stew”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gandalf had always felt a special sense of protectiveness towards Y/n, the youngest and only female hobbit in the Fellowship. She possessed a certain innocence and vulnerability that tugged at his heartstrings. He had taken it upon himself to ensure her safety and well-being during their perilous journey.
As the fellowship gathered around the campfire, sharing stories and laughter, Gandalf took a moment to prepare a bowl of hearty stew for her. He carefully selected the choicest ingredients and seasoned it with just the right amount of herbs and spices. The others playfully watched him, knowing his affection for the young hobbit.
"Aha, Gandalf! Playing favorites, are you?" Aragorn teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Gandalf chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Perhaps I am, my dear Aragorn," he replied. "But it is not out of favoritism, but out of a desire to ensure Y/n's comfort and well-being. She is the youngest and the only lady among us, after all."
The others nodded in understanding, their banter turning into warm smiles. They recognized Gandalf's genuine concern for Y/n and respected his desire to look after her.
Gandalf handed the steaming bowl of stew to Y/n, who accepted it gratefully with a smile. Her eyes sparkled with gratitude as she looked up at the wise old wizard.
"Thank you, Gandalf," she said softly. "You always take such good care of us."
Gandalf patted her head gently, his wrinkled face softened by a tender expression. "It is my pleasure, my dear," he replied warmly. "You are a precious member of our fellowship, and I shall do my utmost to keep you safe and sound."
The fellowship continued their evening, the camaraderie and affection among them strengthened by their shared adventures and the bonds they had formed. They knew that they could rely on each other, and Gandalf's protective nature towards Sofia served as a reminder of the deep trust and care they had for one another.
As they savored the meal and the company, the flickering firelight danced upon their faces, casting a warm glow that mirrored the friendship and love that had grown within their fellowship.

Little Elf
Narrators POV.
Y/n quietly crept out of her room, holding her bag with an extra cloak and boots for the winter. She had stuffed as many weapons as possible in her robe and boots. She had a decorated dagger in a sheath tied to her hip. Meanwhile, the company waits outside the walls waiting for her.
“Do you think the las will show?” Dwalin questioned impatiently
“She is leaving her home,” Bofur defended
“She signed the contract” Fili kidded
“She’ll be here,” Balin said, “just wait”
“So Kili,” Bifur said, “Where’s my coin”
(Back to Y/N)
She snuck into the stables, to one specific stall in the back. There stood her pony, Álváró, jet black the only thing she could see was the moonlight reflecting in his eyes. “Sshh-sh, it’s okay boy, it’s me.” she hummed while holding her hands up against his snout. She didn’t bother to grab the saddle or reins, she hopped on his bare back, with what little belongings she had, and rode through the palace gates where she met back up with the company.
“There she is!” Kili burst upon seeing her
Kili’s POV.
I was surprised she came, but not mad. She wore brown-fitting pants, a pale green blouse, and a grey corset that cinched around her waist, similar to the one she had worn earlier. A black flowy cloak hung from her shoulders and matching knee-high boots.
“Kili, KILI! Brother!” Fili half-whispered into my ear
“What?”
“What are you doing?”
Narrators POV.
The company got back on their ponies and began to make their way to their next stop. “Gandalf told us to head to the Shire, there we will find the last member of the company,” Balin explained to Y/N. “The Shire? Those are hobbits,” she explained, the rest of the company looked at her confused, “They are not fond of adventure.” Of course, Thorin didn’t listen to her, he mainly just huffed at her or completely ignored her existence.
When the company found a spot far enough away from Lindon, they set all their things out and let their ponies rest.
“Who’s on the first watch?” Dwalin questioned
“Fili, Kili, and-” Thorin said, glancing at the company, “Y/n”
Fili and Kili let out enormous smiles, and Kili’s heart began to beat a bit faster. “What is it?” his brother said, Kili had a confused look on his face. “She is gorgeous,” Kili whispered, “like gold.”
The three walked out into the wood, Y/n and Kili had their bows drawn and Fili held twin daggers in his hands. They looked around for immediate threats, and when they decided it was clear they put their weapons down, but in close reach.
“What’s it like?” Fili asked, looking at his reflection in a small dagger
“Hm?” Y/n replied
“Being a princess,” Kili finished
“Tedious and dull,” she explained
“Hm,” Fili responded
“Why do you ask?”
“My brother and I are the heirs to Erabor,” Kili explained
Suddenly, a raddle came from the bushes. Y/n and Kili quickly drew their bows, searching cautiously for the source of the sound. Fili stood up, with both daggers in hand.
“Check everywhere!” a voice said
The voices steadily got closer, Fili and Kili shared looks, as if talking to each other. “What is happening?” Y/n demanded, the two looked at her almost scared. “Fili will go back to camp, you and I will follow them,” Kili said calmly,  with a smirk. Y/n stared at him, she shared the same mischievous smirk. Fili ran back to the camp, and Y/n climbed up the first tree she saw to follow Kili from above as they made their way toward the noise.

Part 2: Chapter 15 -
Screaming
Selcouth (Definition): Odd, unusual, or extraordinary in appearance, effect, manner. Peculiar not known, seen, or experienced before; unfamiliar.
(Noun / Origin: Archaic / Old English / Sel·kooth)
Tumblr media
Like I had done when I had touched the veil that brought us here, I pressed my hand against the polished wood. Silently, I slowly slid my hand across the textured surface, the warm light from the candle casting deep shadows along the groves and carvings, until I reached the narrow gap between the doors. Curving my fingers into the gap, I went to haul the doors open, when I peered through the parting.
My eyes widened, and I took a couple steps back at the sight of a blue glow coming from inside the wardrobe. I then let out a gasp, as a rogue gust of wind blew the windows open with a crash, the curtains billowing as the wind extinguished the one candle in the room, plunging everything into darkness.
It wasn’t long before my eyes adjusted to it all, the glow from the wardrobe bathing the furniture in swirls of blue and white, as if the walls had been replaced by the ocean depths.
Placing the stool down, I turned towards the window, with the intent of pushing the panes shut in an attempt to halt the wind from knocking over anything, only to stop once more as I stared out.
The waxing crescent of the moon bore into my eyes, it’s light searing itself into mind and memory, as if it never wanted me to forget it. I felt myself let go of the window panes, my hands returning to my sides like someone had gently taken my wrists and moved them for me.
I sharply twisted my head to the side, shaking my hands to get rid of whatever came over me, and I faced back towards the wardrobe – any intent to close the windows now long forgotten.
It was as if it was pulsing, the brightness fading in and out slightly, a bit like the veil. But this pulsing was quite erratic, reminding me of when someone runs past a closed door several times, and you catch their silhouette through the gaps momentarily. I noticed it had become more frantic when the moon had appeared, and now the noises had returned.
This time it was more of a rattling, as if something was trapped in a wooden box, and I once again closed the gap between me and the two doors. Picking up the stool again along the way, the adrenaline coursed through me as I brought it nearer to my face, with every intention to defend myself if the worst was to come.
The closer I stepped the louder it got. The rattling now sounding like someone was throwing a large object around, though the wardrobe made no movement. The glowing shone even brighter, the blue turning to a harsh white as I neared the gap between the doors once again, and squinting my eyes as much as I could whilst still being able to see, I peered into the depths – only to let out a shriek.
For an eye was staring back.
Giant and inhuman, it didn’t look solid, almost transparent, itself glowing with the same blues and whites that filled the walls of my room. I managed to make out its giant iris, with slits for pupils, before I was thrown back.
The doors burst open, and a high pitched noise filled the room, piercing my ears before I could put my hands over them, sounding like a mix of an old steam trains horn, and a woman’s scream.
The blue light completely filled the room now, and I watched in horror as a shape barrelled out between the confines of the wardrobe, which no longer contained what was originally clothes, but instead what looked like a gaping portal that went on forever.
But I wasn’t focusing on that, I was instead focusing on the creature in front of me.
It was a large beast, with twisting horns and gnarly gnashing teeth that snapped at the air, and despite not spreading them fully, it’s bony wings spanned the entire room. It stood on four legs, each foot protruding hooked claws that looked like they could cut through the hardest rock. It looked like something that would flatten a mountain, but had shrunk, probably so it could fit in the small room. The ringing noise still stung at my ears, and in my horrified staring, I realised I could see right through it. Not fully, but enough to make out the shape of the wardrobe behind it. My best guess was that it was a ghost, but I had no idea why a ghost beast would want to visit me, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to find out. It continued to thrash its head about, growling and snarling, until it spotted me.
My breath hitched as it’s two piercing eyes bore into my own, and I couldn’t bear to look away, the fear flooding through me freezing me in my place. The creature lowered its head close to the ground whilst maintaining eye contact, and slowly began to prowl towards me. Its talons dragged along the floorboards, but left no claw marks in the wood. Its mouth opened, revealing its jagged teeth, saliva dripping but evaporating into thin air before it reached the ground. My fingernails dug into the wood beneath them as I continued to stare, paralysed, until the beast was just inches from my face. And with its jaw hanging open, the beast lunged, and I let out a scream, screwing my eyes shut.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
I let out an oof as my shoulder collided with a hard, flat object, and felt my face smush against the cold surface. My eyes flew open, and I was met with a wooden set of legs.
Realising the legs belonged to the chest of drawers by my bed, I scrambled to my feet, stumbling as the dizziness from standing up too quick rushed to my head. After a few seconds of rapid blinking, I was able to focus back in on my surroundings.
My room was how I had left it that evening, but morning light was now streaming through the gaps between the curtains, bathing the room in a warm glow, unlike the cold blue that filled it earlier. I also noticed that the candle I had used to investigate the wardrobe was on the bedside table, where it was originally when I went to blow it out before bed. Speaking of the wardrobe, I spun around to face the doors, the dread I had felt when I saw the eye of the creature staring through coming back tenfold.
I crept over to the furniture, reaching my hand out like I had done previously. With a flash I swung the doors open, only to be met with a dark empty inside, the wooden back wall fixed there like it always had been.
Furrowing my brows, I tried to think about the events. Was it a vivid lucid dream? Where I ended up falling asleep and waking up in said dream? Or was it real? But if it was, that creature would’ve had to knock me out, then carry me to bed like a gentleman, which was the last thing I expected from it. I was knocked out of my thoughts when a flash of brown and red caught my eye, and I looked down.
I let out a gasp at the sight of my trunk sitting in the base of the wardrobe, looking just like how I left it the day we ventured out to Ullswater. My smaller bag laid next to it, and I quickly snatched them both up, afraid that they would disappear if I left them too long. I lugged them across the room and hauled them onto my bed, sliding my hands along the edge of the trunk, landing on the latches. Kneeling on the mattress, I went to push at the locks, expecting the latches to flip open, but I made a noise of confusion as the locks refused to push. Staring, my mind flew back to the hostel were staying at, and a memory of me locking the trunk as a precaution resurfaced. Sighing, I stared at the wall in front of me as I attempted to recall where I had put the keys. My eyes brightened as I remembered, and I pushed myself off the bed.
Swinging the bedroom door open, I strode through the house with haste, only slowing down to say good morning to Bilbo making breakfast in the kitchen. Reaching the other end, I slapped my hand several times against the wood of Kay’s room, listening to the rustling on the other side. A moment passed, before the door was cracked open, and a bleary eyed Kay peeked through.
“Did I leave my rucksack in here?” I questioned rather hurriedly.
Kay nodded, remaining silent whilst sleep was still present in her face. She opened the door wider, gesturing me in and pointing to my rucksack that I had left last night after showing Bilbo our things. Marching towards it, I snatched it up from the ground and placed it down on the chest next to it. I scoured through each compartment and pocket, until I unzipped the last one at the front and stuck my hand in, feeling a familiar set of cold metal keys. Pulling them out, Kay’s eyes zoned in on them, widening in realisation.
“Your stuff – ?” She half said.
I nodded, turning around and speed walking out, Kay hot on my heels.
