Why I personally think: 'This is Love' by Air Traffic Control could be about being Disabled/Chronically Ill 🙏

This gets really long and I'm running on no sleep making this but I've had this thought for a while and I had a surge of energy 🙏

Starting out with the very first line of the song, the opening that sets the tone for the rest of the song: "You're no good, you're no good, you could kill me and you should." For me, when I first heard this line I correlated it with love, but as I thought more about it and attempted to think about the song without the context of knowing it was a type of 'love song' (I say this loosely) I began to think about it in the context of being disabled.

For a lot of people, finding out you're disabled (especially as a teenager/kid) can feel horrible, it's a damning feeling that leaves you feeling lost.

It feels like a type of death.

The death of a life you dreamed about, the death of dreams that kept you going, the death of having that typical romcom life, the death of a future you thought you could reach.

Which, only cements itself with the next line: "I'm an idiot for thinking, this was anything but blood,"

Being disabled/chronically ill, for as much as abled people want to deny it, is a fight. It's a constant battle against your body with no surrender in sight; it's something you learn about and then have to consistently sit at the table to find ways around it, to find things that help but will never lessen the bloodshed.

The next line, personally, is the one that cements the underlying subject of disability within the lyrics: "On the wall, on the couch, on the corner of my mouth. You must like being the victim, you've done nothing to get out of this pattern of pain."

Abled people tend to assume that disabled people are simply unwilling to 'get better' and just wish to wallow in their pain in order to garner sympathy (which is laughable) from abled people. Doctors along with regular people on the street will offer advice that isn't anything other than "if I can do it so can you," or "You're just not trying hard enough," and refuse to listen when disabled people say they've either already tried it and it doesn't work, or that they are physically/mentally incapable of doing it.

Chalking it up to 'laziness' instead if an inherent issue within the culture/systems we live in.

"Washed away by the rain, you'll forgive me if I promise, and do nothing but the same." This line, to me, speaks to many of our shared experiences and traumas surrounding doctors or medical practitioners. We continuously go to doctors, ready to fight for ourselves, advocate, and just want to be heard and nearly every time they ignore symptoms or refuse to help (especially in regards to afab people).

It's... Exhausting to say the least.

"This is life until death," being chronically ill/disabled is something you can never get rid of, it's a life long aspect of your life. "Could be my last dying breath," many chronic illness and disabilities can kill you. Whether it is by the illness/disability itself or by outwards circumstances (caregivers, hate crimes, malpractice, ect).

"But this is love, love, shut up, this is love," this line just reminds me of people telling you they love/care about you while also diminishing your disability or your needs.

"Forget everything you used to know," when you're newly diagnosed, or when it's finally confirmed, it feels like you have to forget who you used to be; finding new tools and new understandings that could make you feel like a new person entirely even if nothing changed. The "rules of life" that were previously understood were now worthless with this new sheet of societal rules we're meant to follow.

"I think you better tell your friends to go," it is extremely hard to have/keep friends as a disabled person. (Especially as a disabled teenager which is where I have most of my own experience from.) Often, when you're newly diagnosed the friends you have will pull themselves back. The knowledge that they might need to accommodate or that they might not get to do the same things as before can make a lot of abled people pull away from their disabled friends.

"Stick around cause I'm about to show you, the beginning is the end." (This connects to the above paragraph about how it could be the beginning of the end of a lot of relationships)

"Yeah, I know wrong, I know right, but I just love to pick a fight," this line just makes me think of people trying (Ill intentioned) to offer advice contrary to what you know works best for your body (especially doctors) where you're then labeled as argumentive or difficult.

"I can sleep with one eye open," I just interpret this as being hyper vigilant of your disability. "If there's any sleep at night."

"I got my knife, got my gun," Your medication, "Let's see how fast you can run, you might think that you can hurt me but the damage has been done." I just thought about the medication chasing the disability and thought that was kinda funny. I could go deeper with this but it's already getting long.

"It's pathetic, I know, a jealous fool who won't let go." This line just personally hit me in the gut because for so long I was jealous of my friends who could live their lives without needing to make sure they would be safe or without planning ahead so they didn't end up hospitalized/in a flare and unable to move. For a long time I refused to let go of the wants I had for my future that I realized if never be able to get to, it was a mourning process they didn't understand which only made me even more jealous.

"If I was sorry for my actions, would I ever stoop so low?" This just made me think of all the times I had to apologize for being sick/unable to do something and it pissed me off so that's all I'm gonna say.

"Got no reason to live," Again, it just made me think of the mourning process that tends to happen when you have to let go of the life you wanted to live in the life you got.

"And I've got nothing left to give you, but my love!" This line felt like those moments when you're trying really hard, when you're putting all your tools and spoons into doing something and trying to keep other people from needing to accommodate only to be told you're not trying hard enough.

"Oh, I was hit as a kid," (refer to top paragraph)

"I was good but then I quit," most chronic illnesses that "don't show" in childhood usually get worse during puberty when your hormones are all fucked up and messy. Hensel feeling both like it's always been there and that it just spawned one day.

"Everyone that tried to fix me knows that I can't change a bit." Just...the constant ring-around of doctors that have been either unable to diagnose or unable to help.

"I've got no shame, got no pride, only skeletons to hide." Just, that odd feeling where a lot of people feel like they need to hide their disabilities to the best of their ability.

"And if you try to talk to someone, well then someone has to die." This just makes me think about the disabilities hiding themselves (or unconscious masking to the best of their ability) in front of Doctors, like they're a vampire hiding from the sun.

"Once you chase me down the hole," or once you try and figure the disability out, "yeah once you think you're in control," when you've been able to manage it for a few weeks or months or even years, "you'll believe that we are partners and you'll feel uncomfortable." or the classic "was I really that bad or was I just being dramatic" feeling that comes with feeling too good for long periods of time.

"Oh then the darkness rolls in," a flare, or a bad day. "And you'll forget who I have been," how to manage it.

"The simple love that your grandparents had, this kind of love will only make you mad." Realising that finding a partner will also include making sure it's someone that is okay with being "with a disabled person" which is, for some reason, not something people are okay with. 🙄

"It hurts at first but it ain't that bad," the beginning tends to be the worst but once you understand your body and it's limits it's not hard to "deal with" (I can't think of another word for what I mean) anymore. "You gotta wonder what it meant."

Anyway, this got really long but relating love songs (I use the term loosely) to the relationship disabled/chronically ill people tend to have with their disabilities. So.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm so mad actually I can't believe some people took this scene in chapter 3 and turned it into a who's right about their grief when the scene in chapter 4 literally has ivypool saying I don't mean to make it all about me- haven't thought much about how dovewing is handling her own grief- people read chapter 3 and to me it seems as if chapter 4 doesn't even exist and the rest of what ivypool says in chapter three after saying this doesn't as well

when pro-ship wasn't cutting it, pro-fic was a good step in the right direction to better convey the scope of the position, but i think the scope is part of the problem. Antis have blown the scale of the disagreement so far out of proportion, that to them it has little to do with *fandom* and more to do with (who they perceive to be) *real-life predators.* In a hurry to defend ourselves we've fallen into their trap by chasing the shifting goalposts.

We shouldn't be discussing things like propaganda, grooming, cults, laws, child abuse, paraphiles, and the ethics of incest each and every goddamn day. Sure, those things deserve to be discussed, but *it should have stayed outside the scope of the original problem.* None of those topics had any relevance to the central dogma of pro-ship.

It was ship and let ship. It was not starting witchhunts over fanworks. It was not calling fans criminals for liking icky stuff.

When antis badger you about things beyond the scope of pro-fiction, resist the temptation to argue any points. Don't bother. Be adamant that you will not engage.

I'm sure this kind of provocative tactic has a name, but it escapes me. It is designed to be unwinnable. Be prepared for them to try to exploit your refusal to answer. They *will* ask you shit like "Are you a pedophile?" and then run around screaming "you're not denying it!! look everyone you're a pedo!! just say no are you afraid or something you pedo!!" when you respond with silence. okay so i just saw a pretty aggressive and slightly rude tiana hate post (it hurt me a lot i cant look at it help) and guys that alr to dislike a ship but could you not tag the ship in it?? like i get the post is about them but seriously dude I click on the kotlc tiana tag so i can see posts about people's love for the ship NOT to see people hating on it.. and in a general sense we shouldn't be full on hating ships, unless its illegal or literally disgusting.

I've seen a lot of posts talking about how excited they are for Rox to be fired from the team, but also talking about how much they don't like Qwel for 1. defending him and also 2. some things stated in a doc about Qwel. I'll see if I can link the Qwel Doc, and you can read it over yourself of course, but I'm just going to give my own two cents as a grooming victim, a transmasc nonbinary individual, and as someone who read over the document.

I agree, Qwel should apologize for defending him for so long, however it is mentioned by both Qwel and inside the document that new information came out. It's not like Qwel had a sudden change of heart about what we already knew, but something else came out that we don't know about yet. However, please do remember that Rox was grooming not only people, but also their entire staff team, which very likely includes Qwel. You can be groomed as an adult, and while you should understand and apologize that what you did in that situation was wrong, she was very likely being manipulated.

EDIT: added this screenshot. Rox was indeed manipulating Qwel and lying to her for years. Also an apology, a short one but still an apology.

The Qwel document is very old, and the creator of the document themselves have put multiple notices and, at this point, completely moved the old doc around, in order for people to understand that it is old and not professionally created. That doesn't make the points in the document moot, but it does mean even the creator doesn't believe they're as important as people are making them out to be, and the creator also no longer, and has no longer, wanted to be involved in any of this.

This point is when I tackle the contents of the Qwel doc itself. I wish to note that while my tone may become less professional and potentially aggressive, I do not mean any harm to anyone involved in the doc or people who believe in the doc wholeheartedly. I am simply putting in my two cents. I will also be using the same codenames for people as they do in the document as well as color-coding them, for ease of reading. I will also be calling the creator A, again for ease of reading. Please, click the Read More link to read the rest of my thoughts.

EDIT: Also added more screenshots of Qwel being manipulated and lied to by Rox at the bottom. I believe Rox was grooming Qwel in order to keep the relationship they had and power he had in Blushcrush. This isn't about Rox, but Qwel, so I won't deep dive into that, but that is my belief from what we know.

The Qwel document is, at the very least, almost five years old now. I don't have concrete dates for anything else in this document besides the first event, so I have to assume everything else came out at around the same time. Qwel was, in these screenshots, fifteen years old. A lot can change in four/five years, including the way you respond to others, speak to others, and think of issues such as race and gender/sexuality. Even A themselves state to 'excuse the way they word things, as they didn't fully understand the LGBTQ+ community.'

A stated 'Qwel said I was acting like a creep for being friendly and clingy to Dark Pit' but has no examples, written or screenshots, of how exactly they were treating Dark Pit besides talking about them while they wasn't around, DMing them often enough to make them anxious, and become overwhelming for the people around them including Dark Pit. I don't want to shift the blame onto A, but talking about how 'cool' someone is and that alone doesn't seem like the same thing as what Qwel was describing in their talk. A also, in the screenshots, agrees that everything Qwel said was true to a point. This conversation doesn't seem like Qwel is trying to be manipulative or 'pushing A to admit their feelings,' as Qwel really only says 'hey what's going on with you two' and lets A explain themselves. Qwel had also spoken to Dark Pit beforehand about their crush, so A's behavior was obvious enough in that regard.

Dark Pit has anxiety, very bad anxiety, and that's stated multiple times throughout this part of the document. Dark Pit also has a fear of confrontation, to the point where they are scared of asking A to stop DMing them and 'being seen as mean.' Dark Pit and Qwel spoke together before Qwel spoke to A, so it's likely that Dark Pit was the one to tell Qwel to let A know that they weren't interested in a relationship. Qwel did say, jokingly, 'no one else is as strong a speaker as I am,' so that could be implying that Dark Pit asked her to tell him.

I don't think we have enough information about Sheik to say why exactly Qwel told Sheik about what happened, if she knew A didn't like them, or what, so while I can't say anything about this, I will repeat that Sheik apologized and that they are on better terms currently. I don't know why Qwel is acting like she doesn't know this person if they were/are truthfully 'best friends,' but we have no screenshots showing any of this and it could be that Qwel forgot about them. Also, I believe being fifteen is an alright excuse for mediating something that you arguably shouldn't have been involved in. You were young and dumb, and it's been five years. You make bad decisions when you're fifteen.

If A's actions were making Dark Pit and other users uncomfortable, and A wasn't understanding that in order to make it stop, then I can see why fifteen-year-old Qwel thought the best thing to do was make them talk to each other about their problems. A also states that Qwel got in between their relationship earlier, but then states that Qwel was forcing them to confront each other alone. The paragraph that A states Qwel 'made them believe they were a bad friend and forced them to apologize to her' has no dates, screenshots, or anything in detail to explain any of these claims. Qwel, very likely, did not mean to implant anxiety within their head about their friendships. While perhaps she did, we can't say as there are no screenshots or anything besides A's own words.

This next part is set in 2022. We do not know how much A and Mii Brawler spoke over the others in the voice chat, so I cannot say much about that situation. I will agree that calling someone autistic as an insult is not right. If this did happen, as Mii Brawler doesn't remember and there is a chance that A misheard, that was not right of Qwel. There is no proof of this occurring and only one person involved remembers it happening at all.

The following paragraph and screenshot are matters between Qwel and A and what I take as a misunderstanding. Qwel thought they gladly accepted the testing job, A only did for the money. Qwel thought they were still actively talking to each other, A says they only texted about work and the such. There is no proof to any of these claims besides the single screenshot of Qwel saying her own opinion on the matter. Qwel not trying to argue against the claims of being 'two-faced' doesn't really mean anything, I believe. It's an opinion, the document was small at the time and didn't really say much about that, there were more pressing matters to discuss. Not mentioning it does not mean she accepted the title.

This is when we get into the claims of racism/transphobia. Note that the Japanese GF and Mii Brawler are the same color, not the same person. I just ran out of colors to use.

I do not know if the Korean GF and the Japanese GF are the same person, considering Qwel mentions her GF being 'part Japanese,' so I will make two different assumptions depending on if they are or aren't. We do not know why Qwel decided to make a Japanese-themed stage for her girlfriend, how much her girlfriend was aware of it or gave ideas or what-have-you. However, if the Korean GF and the Japanese GF are the same person, this has no racial implications. And even if they aren't, you are allowed to enjoy the aesthetics of another race without it being racist. If the Korean GF likes Japanese aesthetics and themes, that is not racist. The 'waifu' line definitely sounds bad out of context, but there is a chance it was simply a joke. The entire tone of the screenshot seems kind of non-serious, with the 'crazy shit yo' and such. You can definitely argue that it's a joke in bad taste, for sure, but it doesn't seem like Qwel genuinely believed/believes her GF is actually a real anime girl or anything like that. Qwel is a lesbian. A lesbian, by definition, is a woman (or woman-aligned individual) who is exclusively interested in relationships with other women or women-aligned individuals. (This is a very complex conversation about gender and sexuality but I am trying to keep it simple to follow, please don't argue with me about this /gen.) If Qwel's partner at the time came out as nonbinary, and either of them didn't feel comfortable in the relationship due to Qwel's being a lesbian, that is not transphobic. We also don't know why they broke up, if that was even the reason at all. We don't know why Qwel unfriended Sheik, if that was related to their being nonbinary or not. These could be completely unrelated events. Qwel saying she 'doesn't understand nonbinary people' and not wanting to talk about it is also not proof of her being transphobic. The transgender umbrella, the transgender experience, and everything surrounding being transgender can be confusing, especially to cisgender people who aren't educated or didn't know much about it at the time. Every person's experience and view of it is different, as well. Being confused and not understanding something as vast as being transgender does not automatically make you transphobic.

The final paragraphs of this document are used as summarization, while also stating things that A said were probably accidental (the racism claim) as fact. I'm not going to tackle these, I've been working on this for hours and I don't even know if I will be able to get this to actually post. Please take care, take care of yourselves, and keep an open mind. Make sure to think over what you're given, and don't just repeat what you hear other people say.

EDIT: Qwel being manipulated by Rox. Btw, the definition of grooming is "when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them." Adults can be groomed, as well. Just to make this clear.

What I always wanted to say but i was too scared to say it its that >I< think that people are getting to be kinda parasocial with the ex-admins at the same way that people are with CCs. I dont know how to explain 100% and my english is bad but I think that:

Acting like ex/current admins are saints, that they NEVER make mistakes and are ALWAYS saints with NO mistakes is bad at the same level as saying/acting like CCs are 100% saints TOO.

please DONT get me wrong, but acting like all/some of the ex-admins/current admins dont do mistakes bc they are "ALWAYS right" and not realizing that they are also human and that they can VERY well make mistakes is also just as wrong as doing the same to a CC.

Sorry for ranting on main but I really didn't need to find out that there's discourse between the PRSK/Enstars fandoms on Twitter for the umpteenth time.

It honestly infuriates me how the PRSK/Enstars/Bandori fandoms hate each other and are literally incapable of getting along for one second.

I know we all have differing opinions regarding aspects like writing/gameplay/songs/card art but that's literally zero reason to act like one series is inherently superior to another for XYZ reasons, and there's NEVER a good reason to be rude about it.

You're not superior for liking one thing and hating another. Get off TikTok/fandomtwt and learn how to be nice to people.

just found out about the hdg and I definitely don't vibe with it. It almost captures my interest but the hard stance opposition towards exploring the implications that come with a self designated benevolent empire that can solve the inherent problems that come from cultures who are supposedly inferior in some way by nature really like, both rubs me the wrong way and feels like a disservice to the setting itself.

idk just looking at every empire in history it's like, that's literally what they all say and how they justify colonizing others. It's kinda really fucking hard to just take at face value. If imperialist colonizers who just happen to be legimately nicies to the people they colonize is like, ur thing then absolutely jack off to it I'm not here to judge that, just like, own that I guess? But if your argument for them is just that narratively speaking it's just true then my interest in your setting, horny or otherwise just does not exist.

The contradiction of the setting also bothers me, 25-45% of any given species will be domesticated on average but the space between that and rebellion just doesn't seem to be accounted for in the wiki, what is the life of someone not opposed to the empire but also who doesn't volunteer for domestication? How much of their own cultures are retained within the empire? It really seems like the only option for any autonomy in the setting is rebellion but that's also only ever seen as a bad thing.

I just get caught on the whole "affini are imperial" and "affini are benevolent" thing in the axioms section of the hdg wiki. My mixed race ass cannot really look at an invading empire calling itself the good guys without my own personal baggage about it weighing in, ya'feel?
