Recently I've been thinking a lot about Breakdown and Knockouts friendship and how it started, since they seem so different. Also how their re-written pasts make the transition from con to bot a lot more seamless/plausible.

It was only after all the line art was done that I stopped to think "They probably have canon backstories outside of the Prime show that I should look into.💀" But by then I had already brainstormed a bit too much for them--😅

That being said, the general idea I'm starting with is that Breakdown and Knockout both bonded over having joining the Decepticon cause for similar reasons.

For Breakdown, he had a huge family and a large circle of friends before the war. When the political stuff between OP and Megs started, Breakdown never really looked into it. He was never the "smart type" anyways. "Not like I'd even understand any of that political slop." He'd say.

Instead he got the info filtered to him through his friends and family. All of which were devout Decepticons. He trusted that they were more intelligent than him so he believed all that they would tell him about the Autobots and Optimus. Eventually becoming a devout Decepticon himself.

When the war began, of course he joined the cons with his friends and family. Why would he ever fight against them or question them?

By the time he had lost his loved ones to the war and had no one he loved to fight along side.. and by the time he really began to think about what he was fighting for and was questioning the morals of the cons.. he felt like it was far too late. He had killed one too many Autobots by that point. And his fate as a con was sealed.. there was no room to question what be believed now. He had no choice really, he was a con and that's that.

For Knockout it was similar. He didn't have a huge family or group of friends, but he did have a handful of people whom he highly respected and loved. When the politics came about, Knockout wasn't really sure he wanted to be a con. But his cowardice and anxiety ruled over him. He didn't want to turn against his loved ones who chose to be cons, and he felt like he had more protection with the cons then he did the Autobots.

When the war broke out and things got real, Knockout was terrified. Clinging to the little family he has left with the cons and doing everything he could to stay useful.

By the time his loved ones had all passed from war and he had no reason to stay with the cons. It was FAR too late. He felt like with the amount of aid he's provided to the Decepticons, there was no way he could join the Autobots. And he couldn't possibly survive on his own as a rogue. So for his own survival, he had to stay with the cons..

After learning of their similar backstories and feeling trapped with the cons, Breakdown and Knockout became very good friends.

All of this to say, this comic was supposed to show a bit about what my BD and KO's friendship looks like. Under his confident persona, KO is rather emotionally fragile from this war. And occasionally he has these nervous breakdowns over all the stress and loss..

Since he's become friends with Breakdown, he's never had to face these times alone. Somehow Breakdown always finds him, with a energon refill in hand, and talks him through it. BD thinks he's just really good at distracting KO with small talk and that's what settles him.

The truth is, its Breakdowns genuine sympathy and kindness in these moments that makes him feel like everything's gonna be ok.

I sort of like the idea of Bruce accidentally adopting Damian. Something happened which caused Damian to run away from the league and towards his father, but all he knows is that is father is batman. Before he can ever find him though, he is taken in by Bruce Wayne.

Damian intended to just slip away the first chance he gets, but somehow his escape plans keep getting interrupted. Eventually he begins to like living with the Waynes so much he starts to consider simply not looking for batman. After all, his father never came for him before. And what proof does he have that batman is so great anyways? He might as well stay with the people who actually like having him around.

Damian assigns himself as the Wayne family's protector because these weak foolish people could certainly never defend themselves. After the third foiled kidnapping attempt Damian is sure he could never leave. They would all die without him. Frankly he is amazed the Wayne's behavior hasn't gotten them all killed yet.

THERE'S SO MANY CRYING PEOPLE IN STORY CARDS LATELY!!! SPECIALLY LIGHT USERS!! I AM!!! SCARED!!!! bc so far we got Lilia and Sebek in the beginning book 7.... so at the end.... so we're missing story Silver... and Malleus is the one with less cards, so they might add one for him... but... the tears... ego.... YES I am ALSO like...90-95% convinced that we're going to be getting a story card for Silver once we wrap around back to diasomnia. 👀 especially because the way things are going, Silver will be the only character whose dream we haven't seen -- yet???? -- and that just. y'know. makes me wonder!

although I do think it would be VERY funny if he got a story card and the groovy was just "regular Silver except with one beautiful single crystal tear". this is actually a lot coming from him.

(he used up all his emotion yelling at a baby that one time, there's none left for a proper groovy-level cry.)

Who's the Madoka and who's the Homura?

Kenny is the Madoka, Butters is the Homura. Kenny is the Madoka, because both of them sacrifice themselves to save the world. Butters is the Homura because I think his optimism and determination to try again and again despite setbacks could probably lead him to take a similar path to her, that being, using time reversal powers to desperately try and save Kenny from death, no matter how many times he fails, because surely he'll save him this time.

Who's the armrest? Who's the headrest?

Kenny is the armrest because Butters is too tall for Kenny to rest his arms on him, but you bet your ass Butters is constantly resting his arms on Kenny. Butters always has his arm around Kenny's shoulder, waist, or just has his arms around him in general. He's crazy. And a little possessive. <3 (I like to think that sometimes he doesn't even recognize that he's doing it, it just happens naturally.) They are both each others headrests, however.

Who fell first? Who fell harder?

Butters fell first, and Kenny fell so hard every bone in his face shattered on impact. I think Butters always had a little hallway crush on Kenny, that he only processed as a crush when Princess Kenny happened. It wasn't anything too serious, until the two got closer in high school. Meanwhile, Kenny never thought much of Butters at all when they were kids. Sure, he didn't hate him the way all the other kids did, but he wasn't his biggest fan either and he was often a bystander/observer to his bullying. However, once he actually got to know him, he realized he was severely missing out (thanks @mantequillamcwhoremick you put it so perfectly in your fic HAHSAJD).

Who's the bigger yearner?

Kenny. He yearns so deeply his chest hurts. He's the one less likely to do anything about his feelings, but god does he want to.

day 181 - while i'm still playing through the dlc (and figuring out a watcher design) i do wanna say i consider nightcat & watcher to be separate characters but also intrinsically linked in some way .perhaps through sisterhood and/or cycle shenanigans i think they're really neat

when someone has a defined sneeze, not a quick cough-adjacent, or a rapid/small "eshh/ishh/tshh" type, a vocal, lengthy, defined one

think "hih'ttzshh'chiew!" or "hh'atchshew!" or "eh'rrschh'oo!"

one where you can hear each section, the breathy inhale (hihh-), the vocal release (tschh-), and the whining/relieved end (shhiew-!)

just something about getting all those parts in the experience, hearing the clear sections of a sneeze~
