I want a Voltron fanfic that uses the ideas of the “humans are space orcs” thing. Like why were humans of all creatures mystically chosen by the universe to be the paladins this time around when last time a different species entirely were assigned to each lion? The Alteans are also from a hell world but they developed things like shape shifting and super strength and quintessence sensitivity to beat it-humans didn’t do that. They did something else and it’s far more terrifying.

big reputations by phanatics - singer fake dating au!!! i absolutely love dabi's characterisation in this and the celebrity angle is handled soooo well. the miscommunication and slow burn is incredible and that's coming from a bitch who finds both tropes frustrating unless they're done to my very niche standards. im pretty sure i read this fic in one day. im not making graduation i fear.

the 'will you accept this rose?' series by satelliteblue- the famous bachelorette au! if you don't know what i mean by famous, it's bc this fic has a habit of getting people who don't even read mha fic obsessed with it. like it's genuinely addicting. i remember first finding it and being like 'bacherlorette au dabihawks? be so fr' and look where im at now, 355k words later. it's genuinely just such a fun read AND i love the drama of it AND it has the todofam angle AND an actual plot snuck into it effortlessly. one of my fav fics of all time truly and it's still updating!

HSR and Scars+other physical trauma marks HCs

I haven't seen anyone do this yet, but lmk plz if someone has!

Minor spoilers for main plot

Arlan- scars in a lot of places, implied that he could fight as a child and was poor, canonically has a prosthetic arm (at least I think, but works as hc too) and scars on his arm and nose at least. likely has more, esp on arms since using a greatsword doesnt give great defensibility and his moveset involves cutting HP(judging by the animation, using electricity, so electricity scars too? are those called lichtenberg scars?). he's short, and again the childhood implications mean he was probably malnourished.

Asta- probably minor things from working with untested equipment, and has likely burned her hands with her own powers- but, since she's a noble, she's likely expected to be neat, so idk. I like the burn idea tho.

Bailu- she's a healer, so I think what she does get she can get rid of too. But maybe her dragon tail has unhealed bits from failed assassination attempts, or smth?

Blade- canonically has scars basically everywhere. literally got tortured for a really long time, had home planet destroyed as a child and likely didn't get out unscathed (we NEED to talk abt that more), was a forge worker (burns) and did fight on occasion as Yingxing, and then was on the run for about 1000 years or something, and canonically died even more during that time. also has a skillset that involves cutting his own hp. likely doesn't have to eat, but he's unhealthily skinny because of it anyway. chronic pain. somebody give this guy a hug please.

Bronya- she's a soldier, so callouses, blade scars, bullet scars, emergency first-aid scars, and probably desensitized to cold more than the average human bc belobog. really high disregard for pain that concerns seele on a regular basis.

Clara- her. her feet. are they ok. but also some scars from working with mechs and being in the cold, but svarog made sure nothing too major happened while she was in his care. before, though... likely got beat up for being a "pushover" (im crying plz).

dan heng-... chain scars. we NEED to talk about the fact he spent most of his life chained up in prison with guards and people who hated him (minus jing yuan). probably none of the guards would have stopped some of the more violent ones from getting physical- how else would he tear his clothes that much? probably wasn't fed enough or allowed to exercise much. and the chains- listen, i know we joke about the light cone a lot(honestly why was that specifically made into the light cone) but that was really how he lived for a long time. the desc even said he "writhed" and "gasped for breath". he definitely has huge scars from rubbing skin raw around his wrists, ankles, stomach, and maybe his neck? his arms are definitely majorly scarred over and stuff from this, and probably his ankles+legs too. also his eyesight is probably shit from the dark, unless Vidyadhara magic somehow helped that.

bonus: there is a fic on ao3 called "you're looking into their eyes (and find you're looking into your own)" by robyndoesntlikeyou that deals with dan heng having scars that i only found after drafting this post. plz rec any more fics you have on this...

Fu Xuan- i really don't know for her. probably small ones that wouldn't have scarred, but she saw them as unimportant and didn't treat them...

Gepard- similar to Bronya, but maybe not as many since he's a shielder, but more of the lack of cold sensitivity? he's on the front lines lots

Guinaifen- burn scars on forearm and hands. probably can't feel much on her hands too. idk her lore but she's a street performer, so probably not always enough money for food.

Herta- we basically know nothing about her! seriously, she's so mysterious, and her character stories are vague about her past. i can't think of anything, but maybe there were some more dangerous experiments?

Himeko- considering she rebuilt the Astral Express, there were probably dangerous components involved there somewhere... and her backstory still seems pretty mysterious

Hook- diggertron probs caused burns, and life in the underground is dangerous- plus, moles could apparently go to the fight club? which seems like an issue

Jing Yuan- he's a general- lots of war scars. and probs lighting burns because he summons that entire lightning lord/chronic pain.

Jingliu- she definitely has a lot- i'm pretty sure she's the oldest of the hcq, and also got mara-struck/ fought in wars and was on the run and exiled for a long while. canonically constantly in pain due to mara. also really, really needs a hug, except the only person she would probs let hug her is baiheng, who is dead! and also she isolated herself and tortured yingxing/blade. hcq enjoyers are in literally so much pain.

Kafka- would have a lot of callouses, but idk about where scars would be. she would probs cover them up to avoid drawing attention (as she is an assassin), but idrk where exactly. she seems really sneaky, and considering she has no fear there's no reason for her to hesitate in battle. maybe scars on arms from electricity or stray bullets?

Luka- canon that he has scars from wrestling and stuff.

luocha- again, he would probably just heal whatever scars he did get. i really don't know for him, sry ):.

lynx- most calloused hands ever and even more of a weird cold tolerance than others because she's an explorer. probably just doesn't have feeling in some places. and there are probs scars somewhere from when she ran into fragmentum beasts but she's also a healer so...

march 7th- from careless accidents, sure- dropping glasses and stuff, maybe from a few close fights. but her body was wiped like her memories, plus she's a shielder and archer, which is code for not in the thick of the fight and not taking much damage herself, although she has been careless a few times. also, bowstring burns.

natasha- again, she would heal it. but has chronic pain from lugging around that heavy gun and due to age- i think she's in 50s? she's a respected person, and raised seele in the orphanage, but i dont think there's an official age.

pela- cold resistance. maybe some scars from mechanical accidents? and also there were likely some attacks right after she was born since so many of her mother's coworkers were killed.

Qingque- she's clumsy, so accident scars- breaking glass, falling down too many stairs, etc.

sampo- cold res! and probably some close calls since he's such a rat and has enemies, so most scars are on his stomach.

seele- again, growing up in the underworld was tough, so fighting rings + orphanage scraps + street fights, plus some malnourishment since she often gave her food to smaller kids and ran all the errands. was always a fight-first person, but cares a lot and so would protect automatically. has scars all over- many knife ones, some bullet or burns, and electric ones from fixing up mechs.

serval- electric ones from when she was just starting to fight with the guitar. do i need to keep saying cold resistance for the Jarilo-vi ppl?

Silver Wolf- definitely got some, but can aether hacking erase them? either way i doubt she would actually care enough to try unless she was really bored. but also has terrible eyesight, even by punklorde standards. idrk where her scars would be, so spread out mby?

sushang- spent her entire life training and canonically is brawns over brains, so probs more than a few. also her sword is heavy so she probs had some accidents. mostly on her arms and stomach.

tingyun- probs some from people blowing up amicassador ships, since they want to interrupt peace talks and things- but she's fast and experienced.

topaz- had bad lungs, but had a surgery after getting promoted to fix them. some burns on her hands and her sense of smell is a bit screwed up, so numby is often her compass for that (i love numby SO MUCH)

trailblazer- massive scar from getting stabbed through. none from before game started, since apparently they're a puppet. i think they would heal faster, but messily because of that, so a bunch of smaller scars on their torso, face and forearms.

welt- lots and lots from soldier time, especially from debris and the honkai energy probably has some kind of physical drawback. hands are a bit screwed up too, and gets a lot of chronic pain.

yanqing- what the heck is his family history? will it become relevant later? kind of curious how that may affect these hcs, but hands are super calloused and while he often doesn't retain major injuries, he'll only care for them if jing yuan tells him to, so a bunch of smaller scars just from that. mostly on his arms and hands and neck (ppl probs try to stab there often...)

yukong- so many- was huge in the war, so lots of bullet scars and maybe even some that were previously mara-infected and made worse. hearing is shot, uses hearing aids in her fox ears. a bit irrelevant but she is totally awesome.

ok so my absolute #1 favourite author ever is Mnemosyne_Elegy like these days i subsist ENTIRELY off of their fics for food. they write SUCH GOOD bvz and kazuma content god i would buy them SO many ko-fis if they had one and I knew where it was. it's literally entirely their fault that I care about Kazuma at all. they have 4 DGS fics rn:

The Case of the Gun in the Study which was the particular fic I was talking about having too many feelings about to function earlier. it is 4 chapters about bvz and Kazuma and the characterization is SO GOOD and there are SO MANY QUOTABLE LINES and it's just. please read it i beg you

Perjury and Pistols is a series of 32 drabbles (bvz and Kazuma again) and omg it's such a gut punch. (I keep wondering where the extra word came from but I've never bothered to try to find out)

The Hound (bvz and Kazuma again) is in progress and van Zieks adopts a DOG that was used for a very cruel prank/threat against him and parades it around everywhere because of course he does. also he talks to it in secret. it's even more quotable than the case of the gun in the study actually chapter 2 was just posted last night and I immediately dropped everything to read it it's so so good. waaaah.

Recommendation is a one-shot with Ryunosuke and van Zieks! it is also very good!! I am running out of things to say!

and for other authors:

The Great Ace Detective is not actually a meow meow fic but he is a main character. it's an AU where Klint won the duel instead of Genshin and he's still the Professor 10 years later when Ryunosuke and co. arrive in Japan. this fic is so good it like rewired my brain cells. Klint is soooo scary. bvz is a poor little meow meow. also among other things that are in the fic's tags I should give a cw for gaslighting, you know exactly what's happening and it is so very chilling. A+ recommend (note it's 180k words)

Marked is a bvz one-shot by the same author as above about him getting that X scar

The Final Reckoning of the Ghost of the Old Bailey is an AU where Klint's ghost shows up near the end of 2-3 and everything goes completely off the rails. it is extremely funny and so quotable and I love it very much. it isn't a bvz fic again but he is a main character. and also Kazuma is SO unhinged in this fic I love him so much. plz read it.

The Case of the Reawakened Spirits is an in-progress case fic involving a spirit channeler from Kurain channeling Klint's spirit and again it's not bvz centric but he is in it also he is extremely funny.

A Dog or a Duelist? is a sort of silly one-shot about when the masked apprentice shows up

There’s such a lack of queer characters in this fandom despite TLOU being a queer story.

not rude or invasive at all, i’m pretty open about my gender identity and sexuality, maybe not here, but certainly on other platforms. i would love to write a non-binary oc sometime in the future! honestly, one of the things that’s held me back is thinking there might not be much of an audience for that, but that might just be some internalized issue i need to work through. tlou is so queer and that’s one of the reasons why i love it so much, and apart from ellie/dina fics, there isn’t much representation, so i would love to bring more queer content to the fandom!

i’ll certainly put some thought into it, i have another fic planned after this with a fem oc, but maybe i can craft up something a little shorter to get started. to be really open and honest with you, my gender identity is something i’m still struggling with and it does cause me a lot of daily dysphoria, and while i still very much identify with being a woman and being socialized as a woman, i’ve always struggled with knowing i’m not entirely that, and so it is hard for me to think about projecting those feelings onto a character. sometimes writing women who are just women is an escape for me, like being able to lean entirely into the feminine is a relief from feeling like i’m something “other”. of course, that’s all very internalized (i grew up in a very religious, very conservative situation, long winded story no one wants to hear) but maybe working through that by writing fiction would be cathartic for me.

this is a can of worms that no one should have opened but i will happily dive into. rip to everyone in a groupchat with me or who follows my twitter because i do talk about them a lot

their tag is pretty sparse but i have read all of it so.

so anyway, you wanted to know about jackty:

i’m going into this assuming you have 0 knowledge of the devils as a whole as well as them individually, so sorry if i’m telling you anything you already know.

ty smith is a defensemen who played in the WHL for Spokane and was drafted 17th overall to the Devils in 2018. this is actually his rookie season (he was cut late into training camp both in 2018 and 2019, and might have actually made the roster last season if he hadn’t been injured) and he’s playing so well (23 points in 48 games played). some fun lore about him is that he said he would have been a magician if he hadn’t been a hockey player, and he actually did some magic tricks in one of the most awkward videos to exist. he also lives and trains with brendan gallagher of the habs during the offseason, and gally actually bought him his draft suit. the whole family appears to have quasi adopted him and ty says that they talk most days. also important to note that in juniors ty used to talk to his team’s gm about potential trades and offer to talk to players. 

jack hughes is the second of the three hughes brothers-his older brother quinn plays defense on the canucks and his younger brother luke is getting drafted i believe this year. their mom, ellen, also played for team usa and i’m in love with her. he went the usntdp route and broke some records there  before going first overall to the Devils in 2019. he had a pretty rough rookie season (anyone who breathes the words draft bust around me will perish, thanks) but he’s doing a lot better this year. it’s important, i think, to know that he lived with Devils vet Cory Schneider for the first few months of the season until Cory got sent down to Bingo and then Jack moved into his own apartment where he lived by himself at 18.

the really fun thing about jack and ty, is that they played against each other at a bunch of international tournaments. according to ty, they used to chirp each other on ice and actually got into it during WJSS 2018, but they sort of made nice at jack’s draft, which was in Vancouver, where ty lives during the offseason.

they hit it off during stuff for prospects in 2019, and stayed in touch when ty got sent down. jack apparently reached out to ty midway through quarantine to ask about living together, ty’s response was  “We'll see. I've got a team to make. I'm not on the team already like you are.” which, in case you were wondering, is a common theme! ty says he didn’t feel like he’d really made it until sometime in march, i believe.

ty actually scored his first nhl goal in his first nhl game off of jack’s assist. ty’s first assist on a goal was in his second game on a miles wood goal where jack got the other assist. 

jack let us know they’re roommates and admitted that ty does the cooking and the cleaning. but ty’s unwilling to speak poorly of jack, and i believe it’s in this podcast where ty defends jack’s pretty sad contributions as a roommate, here’s part of the quote:  He’s the take-out-the-trash guy in the house. That’s huge. He’s always doing that when the trash gets full or the recycling. I’m more like do the dishes and most of the cooking. He kinda hangs out in the kitchen, kinda like the sous chef like he’ll chop up the stuff and I’ll do the cooking. So it’s good. He’ll play the tunes, get to have some fun and relax. It kinda works out well.

another fun roommate activity? jack’s making ty watch all of matthew mconaughey’s movies, most notably the romcoms. 

in conclusion, devils social media posed the question “are they ever not together?” and damon severson, who’s been ty’s dpartner most of the season, said no.  the roommates angle gets leaned into a lot and literally the speak of the devil podcast write up on nhl.com literally said “Overall, the adaption from enemies to frenemies to friends has been completed.“ so obviously this means that’s it’s prime enemies to lovers territory.
