This fic is a short and (bitter)sweet study of Ramsa in the Cike... there aren't enough fics that talk about our explosive little teenager and this hits right in the feels.

it's with hands that are dying by serendipityinwords (Rin/Nezha, G, 334)

This one of those, short but exquisitely crafted to leave you thinking about it for days. Nezha's voice shines in this fic and reads like a beautiful, awful confession.

Secrets On The Wind by CyclonicJet (Rin&Venka, M, 2.2k)

There are so few Rinvenka fics out there so I'm so happy this exists. This is hurt/comfort with bonding at its finest and I wish this fic actually happened in the TPW series.

Criminally underrated fic featuring bittersweet Rinkitay, promises and love. Smooth, in-character dialogue and general softness make this an amazing read.

The implied smut in this one always gets me, as well as the exploration of Nezha's boat nerd side. This fic is subtle and racy at the same time and always leaves me grinning to myself.

on the one hand you have the ‘no trauma, pure happiness, sunshine and rainbows’ aus where nothing went wrong. and then on the other hand you have the ‘you know this horrific, traumatising scene? yeah. what if we made it 10x worse?’

And for this to happen to Venka. Venka—with her lovely fair skin and an uptight arrogance and perfect Sineguardian accent—she was supposed to be above that. People like her weren’t supposed to be touched by war, much less touched like—like that.

Rin thought of herself, those short years ago, and her absolute terror of some well-off old man trying to fuck her on their wedding night. How naive she’d been. There were fates much worse than that.

Just a quick heads up, I feel like my high school experience was probably a bit different than most people's, because I took a health/medical career center. Basically, I only had three core classes at the end of the day with the morning ones all being taken up by my health/medical class. So, because I am basing this off of my experience (due to it being all I know), it might be a bit strange to most who didn't take a career center!

📖 So, you somehow ended up getting the Welcome Home gang involved with your school work. Now they keep you up all night asking you what a "Bermuda Triangle", "War", and even what a "Demand Curve" is.

📖 You better hope that they don't find any of your anatomy or biology homework or textbooks. The thought of them asking absolutely ANYTHING involving those topics is humiliating on its own! You don't want to end up explaining the human body to a small little puppet. Or big dog puppet. Or ANY puppet!

📖 Once, Wally had asked you what "these" were while pointing to a picture in your medical book that showed the organ systems. When you explained, halfheartedly, about how they kept you alive and were inside of your body, his pupils just dilated. Right as you turned around to go back to your homework, you were horrified when his first question was "I wanna see them! How can I see them?"

📖 Frank will be interested in your science books, especially if they include stuff about ecosystems. He knows butterflies are in there, somewhere, because some of the pictures include them. Mostly very low on some big chain. When you explain about how that is a food chain, you are shocked to see him cry for the first time about how his butterflies are being eaten. Apparently the books in Welcome Home never told him that. Then again, the show never included any animals besides insects and the animal neighbors as far as you remember.

📖 Sally wants to know more about this "Shakespeare" guy your English class keeps talking about. He made plays, right? He must be a pretty swell guy! Can she meet him? Oh! And can you teach her more about the planets and solar system?

📖 Basically, every neighbor will have a specific subject they show interest in. Sally, Barnaby, and Eddie will love English. Howdy would like math, simply because he has no idea how this "money stuff" works or why it is so important. Poppy and Julie will like home economics, Poppy for the food science and Julie for the clothing. Home would also like home economics because they are literally a Home. Frank likes science, specifically for the animals and butterflies. Wally would love anatomy and any medical classes because he wants to learn more about YOU.

It is time for some reading updates. After a very disappointing trip to the bookshop where I did not find the sequel to The Poppy War I turned to the remaining stack of books I have with me (that got a bit bigger because I bought two books so far in my holiday). The first is a new book I just got Of Ghost And Goblins by Lafcadio Hearn. I knew nothing about this book before buying it. I saw the title I read they were short horror story and that was enouh for me. I haven't pocked a book I knew nothing about in a bookshop in so long in was actually kinda nice. I had never even heard of the author, who was an Irishman who became famous for writing about Japanese cultur and legends. I decided to approach this anthology by reading the stories out of order, just picking up what feels right at the moment depending on the title. So far what I read has the early 1900s horror vibes I love and it'a very much focused on Japan, which is new for me but exciting. As I slowly make my way into this anthology I wanted a novel to keep me company so I decided to finally pick up is A Magic Steeped In Poison by Judy I. Lin, and to say I am disappointed in this book would be reductive. I read approximately 100 pages and the more I read the less I like it. The concept of the story of a magic system based on tea sounds like perfect for a tea obsessed person like myslef, but the whole story feels so absurd. There's plot things that read like badly written fanfiction. I know me and ya as a genre don't usually vibe, but I was really hoping this book would be an exeption. I have sadly decided to dnf the book for now, I had the temptation to keep going to make fun of it with my friends as I read it, but it's just not worth it. Finally the last book I started this morning is Dolores Claiborne by Stepehn King, which I thrifed here (in a very ugly edition but at least it was cheap). As I am writing I am right at the beginning amd ai can already tell I am not vibing with the translation. The story itself has potential but so far it seems kinda slow, but it's too early on to have actual opinions.

For both this and LGBTQ I also want younger viewers to be able to read my stuff, and sometimes when it comes to that stuff, they may be exposed to stuff they shouldn't be at a young age.

How is it that I've read more The Poppy War fanfiction than the actual series itself?

The whole series itself has 535,461 words, and I've read 729,369 words of fanfiction...

I did the math, which is 25.59% more. You can really tell how normal I am about this trilogy.

I encourage y'all to do the same.
