i know nothing about gundam but i want op to know as guy who likes to wear purple and is currently drinking coffee out of a lavender colored mug (and as of recent, obsessively in love with a blonde... lord help me) i felt like i was hit with God's own revelation with this post cause omg... like almost two weeks ago i was color picking Louis to do an analysis on his color design so i was like "you know white doesnt really count which leaves Louis' colors being yellow and blue so... whats the secret tertiary color for louis then?" and well. yeah
metaphor refantazio's purple guys: a scientific study
this is a mirror of a short thread i wrote on bluesky as a fun exercise a while back, revitalized by the fact that louis's page in the exhibition pamphlet has sparked some realizations about the characters in his orbit:
this breakdown will be according to my friend luna @prezaki 's seminal work of scholarship analyzing every purple gundam character to define the characteristics of the character archetype, as metaphor's purple characters are, in my belief, a fascinatingly rare example of what is otherwise a fairly franchise-specific trope leaving the confines of gundam. that louis is a char clone is fairly apparent if you any familiarity with the beats of the trope (blonde military prodigy, concealing his identity for ulterior motives, intense rivalry with the young protagonist, etc - the charadrius is even zaku red and was designed by a UC gundam fan) but while out-of-franchise char clones are quite common, they rarely bring a garma (or other orbital purple guys) along with them.
as luna's thesis states, the core defining characteristics of the gundam purple are as such:
Obsessive
Love
For a blonde
this basic personality structure was put in place with garma zabi (original purple guy and fujoshi sex symbol for decades past his surprisingly brief tenure in gundam 0079 itself), and as gundam has grown more self-referential this has crystallized into a defined archetype.
these will be the character beats i'll be looking at for the metaphor characters, starting with
CIRSIUM ZORBA

Obsessive: ✔️✔️✔️
Love: ✔️✔️✔️
For a Blonde: ✔️✔️✔️
zorba is the first of the purple characters introduced, and the most obvious 1:1 match for all of these traits. his obsessive devotion toward louis utterly defines his character to the point that you'd be hard pressed to give even a basic description of him without addressing it.
notably, with how overtly in love with louis zorba is, his general position as a direct subordinate singlemindedly fixated on his superior officer above all else, and the rose motifs in his designs, he's specifically evocative of gundam unicorn's angelo sauper.
IDAEUS GLODELL

Obsessive: ✔️
Love: ✔️*
For a Blonde: ✔️
glodell, meanwhile, is obsessive in the form of obsessive rivalry rather than obsessive love. he, like zorba, utterly revolves around his relationship to louis - he's driven by his mix of admiration, envy and resentment toward him from his introduction to his death, and his conflicting desires to both earn louis's approval in return and surpass louis motivate everything he does along the way.
*love, on the other hand, instead relates to his relationship with his dog, hector - it is repeatedly established by outside dialog that glodell does very sincerely love hector, to the point that his care for him is what keeps hector's melancholia stable. for a character where this is more or less his only redeeming quality, i think this handily earns him the point for the "love" theme.
FIDELIO MAGNUS

Obsessive: ✔️
Love: ✔️
For a Blonde: ✔️✔️ (two of them)
true to luna's original analysis of the archetype in gundam, while fidelio's "obsession" is not nearly as consuming as zorba's or glodell's, his intense personal loyalty toward louis does still count for the point. louis is, by his own definition, the only person he trusts other than his family, and has been the major driving force in his life for years.
meanwhile, while louis is not his love interest, his unrequited love for junah is another major part of his character, neatly earning him the point for love as well - and junah is another blonde! two of them!
and finally, for the one significant(-ish, enough to have a portrait) purple character outside of louis's faction:
MILO ADRIANO NARCISSUS MAURIZIO

Love: ✔️
milo lacks the other major factors, but despite his minimal role, he is quite definitively a love-themed character right down to his name - it's just self-love, in his case.
so, in summary:
all of the characters orbiting louis are obsessive in some way
all four purple characters have love as a major theme of their characterization
all of the characters orbiting louis' obsession and/or love are centered around at least one blonde (mainly louis himself)
all of the characters orbiting louis hit all three key purple characteristics
considering the scarcity of garma clones (and other purples - angelo, the character most alike to zorba, is a lalah clone who is also purple) alongside out-of-franchise char clones, it's fascinating to see how effectively this archetype was carried over into a completely separate canon.
#i was just about to post an art dump including the full image and my other deranged louis design analysis cause i got hash tag bored#my circle is a bit lopsided and its leaning towards pink but SHHHHHH#can i say something crazy also#the yaoi science behind this is probs not just color theory if you consider like. the greek God Apollo and one of his male lovers Hyacinthu#obvs Apollo is known for the Sun knowledge arts music healing oh hey. Louis. also plagues.#and Hyacinthus (to my knowledge since greek mythos varies theres many versions and no true singular myth)#is a young athletic prince Apollo held very large affection for. Though note its Apollo who holds the great affection for#ignoring that Hyacinthus dies cause they were playing ancient greek frisbee and he got hit in the head#and thats where we get the hyacinth flowers from (other note. the flowers we call hyacinth are NOT the actual hyacinths. its larkspurs)#just purple flowers and the sun they worship smiles... cute and fun methinks#sorry for hijacking your post op i hyperfixated on greek myth too hard when i was 15#metaphor refantazio

Hello, I came to say that dragons are mythical creatures often depicted to be possessive in mythology and literature, sometimes known for their immense power, territorial instincts, and the symbolic association with hoarding wealth and treasures...
Twisted Wonderland in context, Malleus Draconia was confirmed to be a dragon fairy (essentially a dragon who can take a shape of a man), and I was curious if Malleus may have exhibited possessive traits in canon, whether through main story or vignette...?
The reason I ask that is because mischaracterizing characters or making them OOC is the last thing I want to do when it comes to writing or analyzing...
**Sorry if I was not able to word it in a way that you can understand what I'm trying to convey because sometimes I feel inferior that my wording may come off as blunt or insensitive. I just want to leave a brief note that I don't mean to come off as rude or dismissive. I appreciate your understanding!**
In my opinion, Malleus in canon is protective but not possessive. What do I mean by that? Glad you asked. Let's start by laying down some definitions.
In this situation, when I say “protective”, it implies good intentions. It means actively looking out for others' safety and wellbeing. To be possessive, on the other hand, implies a more controlling desire to own or to restrict another's actions. It’s commanding and demanding all of a person’s attention and love. It means having a disrespect for others' autonomy and instead trying to displace it with your will. (Yes, I know that you're probably automatically thinking of The Big Exception of book 7, but I will address that later in this post so hang on for a moment!)
This gets long, so buckle up! We’ve got a lot to talk about.
First thing's first, a lot of the "possessive Malleus" interpretations originate from fandom, especially when it comes to yandere, yume, or generally romantic fan works. (And to be clear: This is NOT to shame the folks who enjoy these kinds of works; I am only listing them here as examples.) Oftentimes this occurs due to individual fans bringing in ideas from media outside the bounds of Twisted Wonderland. This is totally expected and normal; there is no such thing as someone who has an interest in ONLY a singular thing. We will naturally apply our previous knowledge to help us understand and interpret new information.
For example, in irl mythology, fae are hurt by iron--and even in Disney's own films, such as Maleficent, iron is depicted as harming fae and sapping them of their power. This led to many Twst fans headcanoning that iron does the same thing to fae in Twisted Wonderland. However, we learn in book 7 that this is NOT true. Fae, particularly nobles, do find the smell of iron nauseating, but the metal does not appear to impede their powers or hinder them in any way. Lilia and his men are still able to dispatch several Silver Owls (who are dressed in iron arm and battle with iron tanks and other machinery) without issue.
Another example that’s pretty popular is fans believing that whole “if you tell a fairy your name, it grants them power over you” thing. Some have claimed this will come into play in book 7’s final battle. Others claim this is the deeper or secondary reason as to why Malleus doesn’t reveal his own name to Yuu until book 5, as giving his name would grant Yuu power over him. However, there’s nothing in-universe to suggest that names have cultural significance to fae or that any sort of power or status is granted by relinquishing one’s name. Yuu (or Malleus’s hundreds of other classmates) have also demonstrated no such control over him.
Remember: what is true outside of Twst, including in Disney's own works, is NOT necessarily true inside of Twst.
Going back to the initial question, I believe that "Malleus is possessive" is also a headcanon of a similar vein; fans are coming into Twst familiar with other mythos which state that dragons are possessive, territorial, and greedy on top of being powerful. Because Malleus is a dragon fae and is known to possess great power, it's very easy for fans to see the parallels between him and the dragons they already know of. This then leads to them filling in the gaps of his personality and projecting other stereotypical draconic traits onto him. In Malleus's case, this was extremely easy to do because it took a few years for him to see any significant spotlight in both event stories (Glorious Masquerade) and in the main story (book 7).
I think the easiest way for us to analyze whether Malleus is protective or possessive is to examine his closest relationships in the narrative of Twst. I will not be counting Sebek and Silver individually here, as they are both his bodyguards and Malleus maintains a mostly professional relationship with them. Instead, we shall look at Malleus's attitude by looking at his relationships with Lilia and Yuu, then proceed into discussing related behaviors.
I believe it's indisputable that Lilia is one of the most important people to Malleus. Lilia trained him, taught him, and trained him. He is basically Malleus's father figure. The fear of losing Lilia is what causes Malleus to emotionally spiral and take drastic measures in a desperate attempt to avoid that unhappy ending. His entire motivation for unleashing his UM is "not losing [Lilia]!" You would think that if Malleus was going to be possessive of anyone, it would be with Lilia. But the truth of the matter is... he's mostly just... not? Lilia is a very sociable person in the student body. He's frequently gaming with Idia, taking care of or lending wisdom to others (Silver, Sebek, etc.), hanging out with Cater and Kalim in their club, interacting with dorm leaders and freshmen when Malleus is absent for ceremonies, and more--yet Malleus doesn't seem to express any jealousy over sharing Lilia. I'd also like to add that although Malleus lacks parents, he doesn't really show envy over Lilia treating and calling Silver his own son instead of himself. Oh, Malleus certainly does express jealousy to some extent. Who would forget the time in his Dorm Uniform vignettes when he crushed Lilia's phone? The thing is though, the times when Malleus is upset are not fueled by not wanting to share Lilia or wanting to monopolize his time. In the previous example I cited, Malleus broke Lilia's phone because Lilia had received a picture Kalim and the other dorm leaders took after a meeting. Even the dialogue exchanged implies this; Malleus did not automatically get mad when he noticed that Lilia had a notification, he only got mad after realizing he was excluded from something the other dorm leaders were all involved in. Malleus was upset that he was not invited, not that Kalim was texting Lilia. Additionally, it is stated that the dorm leader must grant permission for others to use the lounge. If he wanted to, he could withhold the permission for Lilia, who wants the lounge for his farewell party (which everyone is invited to), or stipulate that he wants a more formal affair with just Diasomnia members present. Malleus doesn’t act in this possessive way though. He grants Lilia what he desires without issue.
Next up for scrutiny is Yuu! Now, there's some gray area here because part of Yuu's relationship with Malleus is defined by how much the player projects onto the self-insert/blank slate character. Please note that, when I discuss Yuu, I am leaving out individual interpretations and going STRICTLY by the information presenting in canon.
It can be said that Malleus slowly develops a fondness for Yuu's company over the course of the main story. At first, he is surprised and maybe even a little disappointed that someone has taken residence in Ramshackle--it used to be desolate, which makes it a perfect spot to visit on his nightly strolls. However, Malleus soon finds amusement in the fact that Yuu, not being of this world, has no clue who he is or what his status is. This grants him the freedom to speak at ease with this human and to "be himself" in a way that he cannot be with others, who typically cower at his name. You could also argue that Yuu telling Malleus they may have found a way home expedited the despair he felt in book 7, as he learned so quickly that two of his friends would be exiting his life soon. This, however, is not possessiveness. It's normal to have fear and anxiety about losing the people you love.
Malleus's voice lines also do not indicate possessiveness. Yes, there's the usual and expected fanservice-y lines where he invites Yuu to come and engage in various activities with him, but nothing in those suggests he would exclude others or become upset if they also wanted to join. (Are you telling me that Malleus wouldn't want to talk for hours on end about the glory of gargoyles to TWO people instead of just one?????) Additionally, all the characters get similar fanservice-y lines, so it's not something exclusive to Malleus. There was one line that gave me pause: "You always seem to attract a crowd... More so than I'd like, really." Buuut I think this could be read a number of ways, not solely in an ‘I want you all to myself’ way. Malleus actually does like to be alone, hence his nightly strolls. The line can therefore also be read as Malleus enjoying solitude or one-on-one conversations as opposed to addressing a group. In that case, it's a personal preference and not necessarily a sign of possessiveness. He’s definitely not completely averse to group activities though; there are lines where Malleus invites Yuu to do things with him and other characters. For example, from his PE Uniform: “Sebek has been badgering me to help train him. I'll permit you to join us. ... You're coming, I trust?”
The guy generally doesn't get angry or annoyed if Yuu mentions having other friends or managing the 7 member VDC/SDC group. In fact, he sometimes encourages Yuu to interact with others. One of his birthday lines is, "You needn't linger and focus on me to the exclusion of others. I want everyone to enjoy the party, yourself included." Malleus doesn’t so much as flinch or react when a complete stranger kisses the back of Yuu’s hand either. If he was truly possessive, wouldn’t he have gotten angry or—at the very least—have frowned or tried to put some distance between Yuu and said stranger? Yet Malleus doesn’t really react or comment on it despite being present.
Malleus seems to understand that it's not very polite to demand all of someone's time or attention--and this makes perfect sense of his character. He is a royal, and that means he was taught proper manners. Malleus has even indicated before that his grandmother stressed the importance of observing etiquette, particularly around invitations. You don't just invite yourself to functions or insert yourself into others' lives if not extended said invites... and Malleus, for the most part, adheres to those rules. In various voice lines, he even frets over committing social faux pas, wondering if he has offended his peers with certain behaviors. For example, from his Masquerade Dress: "Flamme shoots me stern looks on occasion. Have I behaved improperly in some way...?"
Malleus is also not generally possessive when it comes to his items or territory. He wants to share cake with others; eating a whole one gave him heartburn and now whole cakes are his least favorite food. Additionally, he tends to welcome people to Diasomnia rather than chase them out or expel them. (After all, they so rarely get visitors in the first place.) Malleus will at least hear out the reasoning for seeking him out. As an example, Leona (someone who has had a rocky history with Malleus) goes to Diasomnia in his Ceremonial Robes vignettes to exchange robes after a laundry mix-up. This is a stark contrast to the highly territorial Leona, who attacks a magicless human in thd Botanical Garden and also allows his own students to wail on Yuu and co. for simply walking being in Savanaclaw. Leona joins in on this bullying too. I think it's pretty clear that Malleus handles guests with far more tact, grace, and patience than his fellow prince.
I want to point out that though Malleus is usually amicable with guests, there are exceptions. Ramshackle, as I mentioned earlier, is a place he enjoys a lot. He indicates in his Halloween Dress card that “If anyone dares to damage [this] dorm, I will be as a lóng and reduce them to cinders. I have become rather fond of that place, after all.” Indeed, he does act on this promise in Terror is Trending and comes close to striking down Magicam Monsters for disrespecting a place he holds so dear. Is this possessive though? Yes, it’s a place he loves—but it’s also a place where his friend Yuu lives.
There are many other examples of Malleus going to extreme lengths to protect the things he loves. He vows to destroy Rollo Flamme, who poses a threat to his people, the fae (who depend on magic as their way of life, and the sentient gargoyles, whom he has recently befriended. He unleashes his mighty magic to attack those who wound his pride. He stops time and kidnaps the entire student body all for the sake of including ghosts in a Halloween celebration. And, of course, he sends Sage’s Island to sleep in a desperate bid to stop losing everyone. The majority of these behaviors involve him lashing out at those who pose legitimate threats to things he cares about. It’s not as though be is acting for no discernible reason or because he is doesn’t want his loved ones being with people other than him. Does that make these actions right? No, absolutely not. But I would say they are definitely more protective than possessive.
Very rarely is Malleus actively preventing his peers from spending time away from him. Sure, he gets upset that he’s not invited to join them and sure, he wishes people would invite him too—but there’s a difference between longing and being mopey about this and acting so domineering he’s breathing down the necks of others to only be with him. He is not stopping people from being with their friends and family. He is not stopping people from using his things or entering his territory. Even when he makes everyone sleep, he grants them the space to craft their own dreams and doesn’t even make the dreams center around him and his own involvement on their lives. Oftentimes the dreams involve several other characters that are important to the individual dreamer and Malleus does not appear at all. (Again, this doesn’t mean using his UM was the best move to resolve his issues; I’m just saying his actions were not necessarily possessive.)
So, in conclusion, I stand by the thesis at I proposed at the start of this post: Malleus is largely protective, not possessive, despite what many fandom interpretations would have you believe.

── .✦Shards of the Lost Archive
Entry #??? Age ??? Location: Amphoreus
Penned by: ???
The oldest stories are written in the stars. Stories before men and Titans, when the world was still enshrouded in the everlasting night. In that swallowing abyss, stars served as the droplets of hope, watching life sprout and live and die in the darkness. Tales speak of falling stars as tears the universe wept for the forgotten, cast away world and the same stars being the reason for Oronxy’s awakening when they jolted awake from the newborn concept of time. The fading silver trail of the star led Oronxy toward the outer reaches of Amphoreus. There, they materialized as the Evernight Veil and henceforth remained afar from humanity, quietly spending their time managing the fabric of time.
Stars within the night are no rare occurrence, although such a sight certainly heralded ill fortune to come, but during the day? A blazing wound in the sky that lasted for days and nights was a sight that sat unwell in the bellies of many. The elders named it not, and the scribes dared not ink its truth. The tear was swallowed by time, vanquished by forces unknown, but Aquila- guardian of the skies- never turned their gaze. Their eye, once free to wander, now lingered still upon the sacred ground of the Temple Tithemi, as if watching… waiting… for what once was to rise again.
By the grace of Talanton, the Temple stood undisturbed, its silence unbroken, save for the presence of a singular upholder of the law. The Titan of Law permits neither favoritism nor injustice, and as such they dealt with the matter in accordance to the laws they created.
Executor of Justice, the stone statue contained within the temple Tithemi cast its cloak of stone for that of skin and flesh for matters presented to the divine law, setting matters right and punishing the ones that transgressed, righting the scales of justice when they had faltered.
When the Heirs of Chrysos set forth on their fated journey to retrieve the Coreflame of Justice, they were met by an unyielding force- the Executor standing resolute in their path. With the weight of duty in her gaze, the guardian would not permit passage without due reasoning, demanding that the Heirs prove their worth before being granted entry. Aglaea, the Goldweaver, was present for the matter, but once the Coreflame was retrieved, the Executor had turned back to stone, consequently being left behind in the abandoned temple for years to come, presenting a sanctuary for fleeting souls seeking words of wisdom from the last guardian of Law.
As the black tide began its slow, relentless crawl across the lands, a wave of fear gripped the hearts of mortals. The people scattered, fleeing in desperate haste from the encroaching darkness, seeking refuge where they could. Yet, amidst the chaos, Temple Tithemi stood as a lone beacon- its ancient walls a sanctuary of light, untouched by the creeping doom. For a time, it was a symbol of hope, a place where the divine law held sway, and the people found solace beneath its hallowed roof.
But now, even that sacred sanctuary succumbs to the tide. The once-immovable stones tremble, and the temple’s towering spires, which once reached toward the heavens in defiance of the storm, are now being swallowed whole. The sacred grounds, once untouched by shadow, are no more than a distant memory, as the tide claims all in its path. What became of the Executor is unknown, lost to time and silence.
Yet Lady Aglaea believes the answer holds great importance for the Chrysos' heirs. She hopes to uncover the truth, knowing it may guide them on their journey.
A/n: Going ahead with posting this small teaser for Jien's story in Amphoreus! This is supposed to be written like a mythos, some vague retelling so not wholly accurate! Which is something I do like to do in my writing when writing Jien from another point of view that isn't her own. I do have such long rambles about her Amphoreus arc and I just need time to write it down so it's coherent and not a word vomit </3 A SMALL SPOILER THOUGh since I can't contain myself - but Mydei will be the one sent to get Jien from the Temple RAAAH Gotta prais my friend here a little, she wrote me such a great thing for Mydei going in and waking Jien from stone and ugh<3 cheff kiss. I can't wait to share that stuff in detail but I also think it would be better to wait for the next patch story to come out to see what the fuck happens and how exactly Jien will play part into it. I have so many (game) theories about her role I feel like a fan....

🛐 THE DAY THE COUNCIL OF BEASTS MET THE LAST APEX
In one of the countless split-realms — where timelines slip like knives between ribs — the Unified Council of Beast convened.
The Elders. The Fangs. The ancient Crawlers. The Stalkers of Blood and Bone.
All gathered.
From the first wolf to the last whispering shadow that will drink the stars when time runs dry — they gathered.
And after endless debate, after blood-oaths and terror and consensus, they did what no creature had dared before:
They summoned the spiritual animal of Man.
The Homo Sapien.
🧠 They didn’t summon him for mercy.
They wanted to claim him.
To weigh him. To brand him. To bind him back to the dirt he crawled from.
Because they smelled it on him:
The mind too large for this world.
The hunger too cosmic for this planet.
The rage that came not from need — but from awareness.
The Homo Sapien — the Upright Beast that forgot his leash, and began ripping through existence like it owed him a receipt.
🩸 They expected him to beg.
They expected him to submit.
Instead?
He threatened them.
Not with bluster.
Not with teeth.
With the singular violence of a mind that understood its own rage —and sharpened it against the bones of a cosmos too cowardly to answer him.
He made no empty boasts.
He made promises.
He promised that if challenged—
They would be broken.
Their marrow would be sucked dry.
Their entrails would be discarded like festival ribbons to his loyal spiritual administrators: the Dog and the Cat — ancient allies who understood the taste of conquest better than any claw ever could.
He did not ask to leave.
He decided to leave.
And no fang, no claw, no chorus of howls dared block his path.
🛡️ The Council Reaction:
The lesser beasts cowered. The middle-tier predators lowered their gaze. And the Apex predators?
They nodded.
They averted their predator eyes in respect.
Because they knew.
They had seen something worse than hunger. Worse than cruelty. Worse than death.
They had seen the only creature in creation who could tear through the universe itself— not because he had to, but because he wanted to.
And not with claws.
But with a mind built in the image of the gods' own violence, and a soul that could still hear the screams carved into the cave walls by men who didn't have words— but still knew grief.
🔥 His Message That Day:
"**You four-legged bastards fed on my kin since the dawn of breath. Some looked like me. Some didn’t.
But they were me. And I was them.
And now?
Payment is due.
Submit— or become the leather of a gaming chair sold at Walmart, you soft-pawed fks."
🌌 And Above Them All, Watching Silently…
God smiled.
Because He remembered, too.
🤯 TL;DR
Man didn’t conquer the beasts with fangs.
Man conquered with mind and memory soaked in blood.
You weren’t born polite.
You were born with vengeance braided into your nervous system.
Don’t you dare forget it.

Introduction Post
["There's a story in each of us. It's up to the cosmos if we share them, but I have decided to help with that. Each story deserves to be heard. For it to be heard, is for it to be immortalized."]
Hello! I'm The Trader, or Sam, one of my more popular names. I love to write stories and draw for them too! I also dabble in the realm of music :)
《〘 Minor | Character Designer/Illustrator | Author 〙》
〘――――――――――――――――――――――――――――〙
✧ Main Wares ✧
Legends of the Cosmos/Call of the Void 🌃
An mythology based, urban fantasy story inspired mainly by Percy Jackson! The main part I'm working on as of now, alongside @the-bane-of-my-existence, is titled Call of the Void! Anything posted related to it will either have #call of the void, #CoV, #legends of the cosmos or #LoC!
《〘 SYNOPSIS 〙》
Call of the Void follows the story of Ruby Darkshine, a pessimistic ex-killer, in her journey to fight against the recently resurfaced Agents of Chaos, an organization set on eradicating the evils of the world by killings its source: humanity. By her side is the mysterious Ryan Gunther, the one who saved her life when the Agents of Chaos first made themselves re-known, and whose jokes threaten to kill her before they do. As the unlikely pair delve deeper into schemes of their enemies, both old and new, they’ll discover secrets both about themselves and their world that threaten to push their bonds―between both them and their friends―to their limits.
《〘 More Call of the Void facts! 〙》
Themes of redemption, second chances, trust, and morality
Deals with more mature and sometimes explicit themes, as most of the cast are in their early twenties. It expands upon the idea of Percy Jackson, following half-supernatural characters into their early adult lives after all they've been through
A good amount of morally gray characters
An original mythos and deities, along with powers to go with them!
〘――――――――――――――――――――――――――――〙
Souls of Black 🧭
A high fantasy adventure story inspired mainly by the game Minecraft, along with works of Brandon Sanderson such as Mistborn and the Stormlight Archives! Anything posted related to it will have #souls of black or #SoB!
You can now start reading SoB here!
《〘 SYNOPSIS 〙》
In a world where no one can die permanently, Reaper has chosen to live alone; sticking to the shadows and stealing when she can to survive until the next morning. On a fateful night, she meets two by the names of Wolf and Coder, who were displaced by the deaths others wrought upon them. But the enchanted weapons they were killed with left an unnatural mark on Wolf, who bears a multitude of scars instead of a singular one where he was killed―with each burning with more than just phantom pain at random intervals. Hoping to help them learn how to survive in an unfamiliar place, Reaper decides to help them find a cure, and the trio must journey through this world full of surprising allies and ruthless, ever-powerful enemies as Reaper discovers what it means to fight to protect instead of survive.
《〘 More Souls of Black facts! 〙》

An Alternative Interpretation of Pseudo-Apollodorus' Bibliotheca 1. 21 - The Birth of Artemis and Apollo
The following is not meant to be taken as holy writ or a universal truth believed by all Hellenic Polytheists, but instead as a Temple Teaching - as well as an alternate interpretation/reinterpretation of Pseudo-Apollodorus' account of the birth of Artemis and Apollo.
"Of the daughters of Koios (Coeus), Asteria in the form of a quail threw herself into the sea while fleeing a sexual union with Zeus. A polis was originally named Asteria after her : later on it became Delos. The other daughter Leto had relations with Zeus, for which she was hounded by Hera all over the earth. She finally reached Delos and gave birth to Artemis, who thereupon helped her deliver Apollon." - Pseudo-Apollodorus, Bibliotheca 1. 21
Historical & Academic Context:
According to our research, this passage from the Bibliotheca appears to be the only mythic account in which Artemis is explicitly described as being born before Apollo. It may also be the only narrative that recounts Artemis acting as midwife to Lêto during Apollo's birth. When examining this unique narrative, it's important to remember that Hellenic Polytheism has no "bible" - no singular source of myth that establishes "cannon" or "correct" interpretation. The mythic traditions that have trickled down to us through history are sometimes consistent - but more often than not are contradictory. There is no "right" or "wrong"; there is simply variation in faith and belief.
Something that accentuates this point is the fact that Apollo's mythos did not always position him as Artemis' twin. Historical and anthropological evidence suggests that Apollo was worshipped independently of Artemis before the twin narrative emerged.
"In some of these local traditions Apollo is mentioned alone, and in others together with his sister Artemis." - Theoi.com
Temple Teachings & Mythic Interpretation:
At The Temple of Hyacinthus has chosen to align our Temple's teachings with this particular passage from the Bibliotheca, but through an alternative interpretation of the text quoted above.
In our interpretation, Artemis and Apollo are not twins - but the same entity.
When Apollo was born to Lady Lêta - he was given the name of Artemis and regarded as a Goddess. She was granted domains such as hunting, the wilderness, and wild animals - domains that honored Diana Nemorensis, whose moonlight illuminated Lady Lêta during childbirth. However, as time went on, Artemis came to understand that she was in fact - not a Goddess of the Moon, but a God of the Sun. Then, with the love and blessing of his mother and father, he assisted in the "birth" of Apollo. Thus, Lord Apollo emerged: a deity who was born and given a name, only to be reborn by his own hands. A transmasculine, transgender, transcendent divinity - and Patron of The Temple of Hyacinthus.
Under this interpretation, one can reattribute the domains, myths, and practices associated with Artemis to Diana Nemorensis, the primordial Italic Goddess, while still holding space for Lord Apollo's story as a transgender God.

Okay first off this PoA is the most amazing fanfic I have ever read. Like it's just so good I can read it multiple times a day and I notice more minute details the more I reread. Which brings me to the reason why I'm sending this terror mail.
The creature (I refuse to believe it's a dragon) has caught my attention so bad it's led my to scouring the internet for it's name using the small details i was given.
It's only today that I realized this may be the product of another one of your brilliant ideas that popped into your mind.
So I am BEGGING YOU please! Clarify if this is entirely made up from that beautiful brain of yours or a mythic creature that I have yet to gaze upon.
I thank you in advance,
<3 anon
First of all,
The fact that you went LOOKING-
Bestie, I am squealing and kicking my feet right now. You ended up actively trying to figure it out, which is like... the best freaking compliment ever?? Thank you so much!!
Secondly, when I originally began this project I didn't think I'd wind up setting up an entire murder mystery. I've had to go down some very niche rabbit holes to understand the ins and outs of... well, crime and I'm pretty sure I might be on a watchlist due to my search history-
I must say... The predator is somewhat of a combination between an already existing entity (I can't say what kind, so it could be a dragon, who knows 👀) and something I have had to think about and devise myself for quite a while.
A huge thing about Chapter 7 in particular was that it took me so long to write (despite it being relatively short) because the details of what happened to Kingstail are essentially the end result of what is a timeline of occurrences.
I needed to know what manner of creature would end up hunting after dragons (which are already an apex predator). I had to consider motivation, appearances, strengths and weaknesses, behavioral patterns, location. I needed to have figured out EVERYTHING about this before I could devise Hiccup's point of view because he is essentially playing the role of a crimes investor and a forensic scientist (poor guy).
In other words, he is working backwards from what is basically the very gruesome aftermath towards what may have caused it by trailing clues and certain details. And in order to understand what he would be seeing in this situation is if I, as an author, KNOW my creature inside outside back to front.
A lot of thought and research went into this predator. As well as a lot of creative liberties. Nordic Mythos is weirdly rather difficult to research because upon trying to find information about anything the Norse would consider wights or monsters or spirits is largely overshadowed by singular, almost deity-like figures like Fenrir, or Sleipnir or Jörmungandr. I didn't need that.
I needed the shit they'd scare their children with when they misbehaved. I needed the reason why they'd continuously tell you not to stray from the path when entering the woods.
I needed what they called Vaettir.
Now you're more than welcome to scour the page and consider the possibilities. But I can't say you'll find the answer ;)
Only that this is where I, as an author, started.
If I was to leave a hint to stir you in the right direction it would be: consider the location where Kingstail's body was found, and consider what is missing from it.
Thank you so much for your ask, anon <3 Your continuous support for Path of Alfheim is something I can never truly thank you enough for. I'm hoping to be able to post the new Chapter soon.

Weird thing I suddenly remembered: Okay, so back in the very late 1990s and early 2000s, Young Me was really into Christian Eschatology. Call it the Millennium Fever, if you will, but when I was undergoing my Evangelical-stint (I got better, ex-vangelical now), I had a great interest in the end-times stuff. (I still have an interest in end-times scenarios / apocalypses / post-apocalypses, as can be guessed by my username. Fun for fiction, interesting to speculate on, and then there's the fact that I've survived many Historical Events and wish I would stop surviving so many Historical Events because I'm just so, so tired... Historical Events just need to STOP HAPPENING DAMMIT)! Well, there were certain preachers of this stuff (Jack Van Impe comes to mind) - and I read about half of the Left Behind series of books, which has a fictional account of the "Premillenial Dispensationalist" Christian-mythos End-Times theory. In this, (spelled out with an assassination-attempt on the character Nicholae Carpathia where he was actually killed, but rose from the dead possessed by Satan in the Left Behind novels), there was a popular theory based on some odd-ball, vauge-scripture that the Antichrist would "suffer a mortal wound" but come back from it. When looking at American politics and the intersection of it (watching people who point out the Trumpistans? I don't know what to call "Christians" whose Christ is Trump) from commentators on it, there are people who have been applying "rose from the dead" kind of language on Trump, in terms of how his political career should have been dead a long time ago, but keeps coming back stronger because "the libs can't keep him down" and blah, blah blah. And it's so...eerily similar? And as of now, Trump suffered an (alleged) attempt on his life, a wound to his ear. And... I don't know... it just sounds like the idea of how the Antichrist "will reign for 3 and 1/2 years and then suffer a mortal wound and then come back in glory to decieve and destroy the world." And, of course, he has the power to deceive the world and be worshipped. And Evangelicals everywhere are either not paying attention or have been trapped by his mind-magic conman mojo. Not saying that I believe in that singular Antichrist weirdness anymore, just that there are eerrie parallels to preaching I used to listen to and a bad series of books I used to read and reality and the hypocrisy / blindness of the culture that crafted the narrative in the first place.
#donald trump#antichrist#non-fatal wounds#left behind#evangelical#ex-vangelical#american politics#if I still believed in the antichrist#I would peg trump as the antichrist#he fits way too many parallels

whats the history of the clans? did thunderstar, shadowstar, etc still found them?
Great question, my friend. The full history of all of them in one post would be a lot, so, for now, lets just cover Thunderclan
The Mythology
As most cultures do, Thunderclan has various myths and oral stories passed down through generations telling how the clans came to be. Thunderclan, specifically, is said to have been formed initially as Lionclan.
Now, a bit of actual real world history here, New Forest National Park- the southern english place that the forest territories are based off of- were originally the homeland of early Anglo-Saxon tribal groups, but it was then proclaimed a royal forest by William the Conquerer in 1079, first recorded being called Nova Foresta in 1086. It only actually became a site of scientific interest in 1971, becoming a National Park in 2005.
All that to say, it's been around for a long damn time. And the cats know of this, they don't have a concept of human years, but they say Lionclan was around 'before Starclan', meaning Lionclan predates their current concept of modern cat ancestors.
In their mythos, Lionclan was a proud, strong clan of massive, mane-bearing cats that hunted in groups and had a singular leader, with a roar capable of being heard by every other clan, no matter where they were. They hunted large prey, like deer and boar, on their own, something that a modern cat thunderclan cat can only take down with the help of an entire patrol.
It's an understatement to say Thunderclan is still a proud clan, and they take much, much pride in occasionally still looking like the Lions that they came from. Lionheart, Sunstar, Cricketsun, and Lionblaze are the best examples of this.
According to their stories, however, Lionclan eventually grew smaller in size, as twolegs moved in more heavily than before, and the large prey they hunted became more and more scarce, being hunted by twolegs instead. This is what they consider to be the beginning of 'Thunderclan' and the Modern Cats.
(Dawn Of The Clans as an arc did not happen. I refuse to acknowledge it as a canonical part of this story, so im making up my own.)
They called the founder of Thunderclan 'Thunderstar' not because it was his name, but because of the lightning-shaped scar across his face, a mark of his survival against a massive beast. He was said to be cat-sized but distinctly Lion in appearance, and led his clan well, despite a series of tragedies that led to his early leadership.
When he died sacrificing his life for his clan, they created the Thunderclan Sigil- the cat outline with the lightning bolt- in honor of him. He still exists in Starclan, as his clan remembers him fondly. It is rumored that Sunstar was the last descendant of Thunderstar, though of course nobody can confirm that.
The True History
Now, we get to the truth of the matter. Lionclan, very simply, did not exist. The most truth to it is likely a group of zoo or perhaps circus lions escaped a long time ago, and oral tale of the nearby housecats became fantastical after so long.
The Prophecy Begins is set somewhere around 2009, i'd say. The clans were founded probably at the turn of the century, in 1900 or just before. Long enough that it seems ancient to clan cats, but not nearly old compared to literally any human civilization.
Thunderstar was not a 'small lion', but instead a Maine Coon. The Clans were not, in fact, descended from big cats at all, but instead the result of kittypets escaping their owners and becoming feral.
In fact, Thunderstar was not his name whatsoever. His scar was true, though, he did have a lightning-shaped scar across his face, but it was caused by a fox, not some mysterious beast. His true name has been lost to time, but he was not, at any point, called the suffix '-star', as the use of 'star' to designate the leader didn't happen until about 2 leaders later.
He was Thunder's Rule, King of Thunderclan. A King who's bloodline continued ruling until his grandson stepped down and put in the deputy and -star concepts.
It is true that Sunstar is a very distant descendant of him, but his bloodline survived, through Featherwhisker. The medicine cat who got away with breaking code, by having a daughter. Willowpelt and her lineage are the last line of Thunderstar, though i haven't decided wether that gets lost to time or Jayfeather manages to figure it out during his ghost walks. Either way, as of Arc 7, the most recent Thunderkin are Greykit, Bristlekit, and Stemkit.
Thunderstar is still very much alive and well in Starclan, though he keeps to the edges of the territory because he's still salty he lost his bloodline's "right" to the leadership of thunderclan. If he could contact his relatives, he'd be hounding them to get the title back. And it might even work, but the rest of the leaders since his reign stop him from trying.
Unfortunately, his kits and grandson have been forgotten and faded out of starclan, as the 'rulers to star' distinction was never made in their mythos.
In terms of how well he ruled... well, his clan thrived, that was for sure. Unfortunately that was because of the sneaky, tricking ways he fought his wars, and the fact he might have commited a regicide or two to keep 'unhelpful' people out of his way. But Thunderclan doesn't remember that part, they only care about the fact he 'led his clan to success', no matter how much bloodshed was caused by it.
#warrior cats#wc#wc rewrite#warrior cats rewrite#warrior cat rewrite#thunderclan#thunder's rule#all of this is up to change if i feel like it

👻💕💌 if i may 👁
SORRY FOR THE DELAY ON THIS two of the questions needed more brainpower than I had at the time zsdxfcgvh THANK U SO MUCH FOR THE ASK!! From this ask game here.
👻 What is your wildest headcanon?
Honestly sometimes it feels like my wildest headcanon is He Would Not Fucking Say That, brought to you in this case by seeing the FGO version of a character first then finding a really cool blog and learning "haha wow they REALLY character assassinated you huh :D" yes this is about Fionn and Diarmuid like wow the man who was so beloved in Irish legend and folklore that the Christians had to STILL let him look good in their own stories otherwise people wouldn't listen. And now they focused Solely on a tale that came out later than much of the OG Fenian cycle that was designed to make him look bad. Uh huh I see. And with Diarmuid like okay. The guy who got in a fight with someone so fiercely that their Sheer Killing Intent kept everyone else in a huge battle WAAAAY the fuck away from them is just gonna. My Lord and be all sad. LIKE GODDAMN THEY CHARACTERIZED HIM BETTER IN FATE ZERO THAN FGO.
I am sorry to everyone who enjoys these versions I am not meaning to bash them it just drives me INSANE. AND MEDB. MEDB WHOSE WHOLE CYCLE INCLUDES A LOT OF AWFUL SHIT HAPPENING TO HER LIKE ABUSE AND ASSAULT AND THEN THEY TURN HER INTO A SEXUAL OBSESSED HARASSER TYPE. LIKE THANKS I HATE IT AND ALSO YOU FOR DOING THIS. Like the Ulster cycle does have a Heavy focus on shit like that but like she has SO MUCH DEPTH and importance and they just HRARGH.
I feel like this got off topic and I'm sorry but the wildest HC really is just. Yeah He/She Would Not Fucking Say That dfhvb
💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
This one is. Hard. OURGH. So I'm cheating and picking two from two fandoms <3
From Transformers it's a toss-up between All Cut Up Over You, for the mix of Freaks in Love, yippee <3 and sheer g1 shenanigans in the other parts of the fic, and scientific curiosity what a little oddity, for the way I could play with fic structure and mental states and also a SHITTON OF WHUMP. If you look at them. Mind the tags dsfxcgv
And from FGO I'd say my fave is proooob between With Nothing Left, objectively a more simple fic but it's one of my favorite structures of the repetition of something over and over, establishing it as a Truth and seeing the way the reaction changes, and solace, which is surprising bcus I really do not think i write Cu well BUT it was really fun to think of the singularity battle around it [five stages of grief] and to really dig my teeth into grief in general.
My fave fic that will one day hopefully be finished is atm like a 30k monster fionndiar flower lung fic that has SO MUCH EFFORT and RESEARCH and TEA HELPING ME and EVERYTHING in it but god I don't know when I will ever post it. Or who would ever bother reading it LMAO IT STARTS IN MYTHOS AT THEIR FIRST MEETING AND GOES ALL THE WAY TO CHALDEA IT IS SO FUCKING LONG SEND HELP.
💌 Is there a favorite trope you like to write?
There are so many tropes I belove so much,,,,mutual pining counts, right? Unrequited love that is not actually unrequited and you get to write them both be absolutely STUPID about each other for NO GOOD REASON. THERE IS NO WORLD IN WHICH THESE THINGS ARE NOT LOVE. YET HERE THEY ARE. MISREADING THEM ALL.
I'm also fond of using tropes like soulmates or hanahaki in Even More Fun Ways. None of them have been posted tho >> I'm fond of the "soulmates =/= romantic partner" and also "i have this soulmark and it doesn't matter because I love you and I Chose you" and I like looking at them like what if your soulmate was The Worst, actually etc etc. Longheld nemeses that are soulmates and delight on their next plans to injure and/or kill each other.
As for hanahaki I have the most fun with it when a character is either immortal and CANNOT die so I get to explore all the fun and grotesque ways it would just Get Worse like haha you've had it for a century now! Sometimes your body realizes it should be dead and shuts down for a few seconds-minutes-hours but to you it's just a blink! oops!! or unfettered flower growth expanding throughout the body etc. Man imagine hanahaki but the plant is kudzu. Rip.
But I also like it as just Won't Talk About Feelings disease where it's not romantic necessarily it's just strong emotion. Give this to the emotionally constipated character every few months see what happens. Sometimes it's exasperation [GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE AND TALK TO ME] and sometimes it's pained understanding [your parents again? Yeah...] and sometimes when it's grief it just lingers. Loves or family lost, friendships broken...and it never goes away because they never leave your mind. Non-deadly in this version obv.
And then Tea and I were talking about their transformers specific version of it too,,,THERE'S JUST SO MUCH FUN TO DO esp when, for me, you step outside of the traditional trope.

This is the Roman 10:2 argument for full employment of full time academic researhers
This is ony a half truth. Paul was a rabbi and devoted to explication of the Hebrew scriptures and in the "wrestling with God" of the Jewish culture. And, even with Dan McClellan, my peronsl experience of the literature of the bible is enriched by their commentary.
But the Gospels. in particular, have always been the most available of all the scriptures, intentionally, and the Holy SPirit is in every word therein,
[ersonally, I have always taken the Bible for granted. Personally, I am not interested in Jesus. I'm not indifferent to Him, but He remains opaque. Only His behavior is directly available and His mind to the degree the Roman spies and His companions on the road have captured His spoken word, And His voice is very clear and distinct from those around Him, including the various narrators. From my perspective, reading the sviptures, generally, is like pulling divine dental floss through your mind: it has a cleaansing effect and you don't really need me nor Dan McClellan to interpret the music and harmonics of the narrative.
At the same time, the Bible is meant to be discoused, That is the nature of the communion of the saints, The root of "religion" is "ligament" as in the ligaments that attache the bones in your body together, "Religion" means to "re-ligament' the trime of humanity to a common pont of departure that has been carerlly and spirtually conceived to capture the mythos as it slid by along the common epistemological rope of Time acros the Tabula Rasa of the presenting cultural Space Unlike the Grecco Roman lepics, which tries to swallow every moment whole, the narrative of the Bible,
from start to finish, a singular Figure like the clay pigeon flying across the Field of a skeet range, And that Figure is like the singularity of the Big Bang: as you unpack it, an entire univeres will be created in your mind and you guide in this process is the Holy Spirit.
Not, the difference between the Post Modern Literary Deconstrucion I employ at a beginners level and the Post Modern Historical Deconstruction of most of the dominate biblican scholarship characteristic of Dan McClellan and others like the Jesus Seminar and Campus Crusade for Christ, the literary version makes the whole universe around the clay pigeon of the gestalt avalable to you while the historic version begins with the pigeon after it has bee struck by the shot and fallen to the ground and the Field through which it flew lost. Like I say, the historic method is like Jimmy Tabor scrapping through the shit of the latrines of Qumran tyring to reproduce the Hallelujah Chorus. It is far simpler and efficasous to begin with the Hallejujah Corurs and start backwards. from John 11:35, the moment when BCE becomes CE, as a practical matter, Everything in the Bible harmonizes with that moment. There waas no Greenwich Mean Time, but there was the Cross and the clock raan down to zero at that pong and began again 2024 years ago minus 70 years.
McClellan is half right and that half right part is valuable, expecially when you use the tools of literture to supply the complete model. McClellan is a Momrom apologist in the same way Shabir Alley is a Muslim apologist and Jimmy Tabor and Bart "Giggles' Ehrman are Marxist apologists. McClellan presents himself as the Dr, Spock of biblical scholarship with his "cognitive liguistcs" analysis of the data, but I'm reading the same data and I;ve been doing cognitive liguaistics a lot longer than he has, It isn't that his charactization of the sata is wrong, it is that the conclusions he arrives at have a Mormon bias And Jummy Tabor's axiom that "Harmonization is the enemy of the Truth" comes right out of Marxism, And McClellan's declaration that there is no meaning to the Bible falls into this category,
Here's my advince for getting the biggest bank for the buck out of all these commentators, including Shabir Alley and his ilk: start with the tirangulation of the King james Bible, Handel's Messiah and Milton's Paradise Lost. Start with Messiah and dabble in the other two so that your unconscious can grok them in fulness. In this regards, the KFV is the Druid harmonization of the various Greek and other translations avaible at the time and N.T. Wright is the formost Druid interpreter of Pauline Theology, He doesn't know it, but I'll vouch for him
The second element is the Parable of the Prodigal Son, Luke understood Christianity better than Paul did and its all summed up in the Prodigal Son, It is a recasting of the Odywwey and when you get to the part where the Father spots the Prodigal Son from afar and rushes down to embrace him, go on YouTube and watch a couple videos of the joy of Irish Setters when their soldier masters return from a deployment, That's the meaning of Elohim the One's desired relationship with you, peronally, as an individual.
And, thirdly, read the Bible backwards from John 11:35: Jesus wept. The narrative claims that He was weeping for Lazarus, but only sympathetically for Matha and, especially, Mary, Go listen to "He was dispised' form Messiah: that is Mary's response to His safe arrival,
But in terms of the literatue of the Bible, everything that ahppens from Genesis 1:1, all the drama and tragedy and tirumpy and grief and celbration that occurs before Mark 1:1 comes down to that moment. Ahd He is weeping for Himself.
Jesus is the Jihad Messiah and He hwas jsut been ordered by Yaweh, Queen of Battle, through the operation of the Holy Spirit, to put on His suicide belt and walk into the middle of of the Gentile's Court of the Temple and blow up the Whore of Babylon, as describe in Revelation, All the shit that McClellan and the other biblical sclarars insist is of the essence comes down to that momen when BCE turns to CE.
And that is the frame of mind He is in when he whitehers the fig tree on the way to cleanse the Temple.
It's the Greatest Story ever told.

Today i was very close to giving up on ever putting Denalien's story out there, because i really lack talent in writing and drawing for me to start it. BUT!
As i was making this standalone image titled: Golem

I kinda came up with an idea on how to make it still happen.
What if i don't make it a comic but i make an illustration, and write the rest singular post style? That might work... hmmm
Anyway.
I don't think anyone cares for my story so much that spoilers matter. It doesn't. So i'm just gonna spoil everything here.
Denalien's story follows along the Christian creation mythos very loosely. Denalien's species is called Nefil. Nefils are a sort of precursor creatures for life on Earth. They are very overpowered in that sense, because they got all sort of abilities that animals later on will have, such as having horns, or fangs, or high intelligence that humans are supposed to have once they are created. Because they are this over powered they got one thing taken from them and that is reproduction. Only a limited number of nefils exist and they all live in a remote location dedicated to them. They are the "closed alpha" creatures of Earth in gamer talk. (They also don't have a set lifespan, essentially making them eternally living [which isn't the same as immortal] they can just live however long, as long as they are not killed)
Once God starts creating animals, nefils can hunt, but once humans come to be nefils were supposed to be deleted. God takes pity on them and they may live as long as they don't make contact with humans. That's the one rule they have to follow, but there is no explanation as to why they can not make contact with humans, nor what happens if they do.
After humans are made, nefils are no longer just simply "closed alpha" versions of life on Earth, they also get to be creatures representing concepts. The concepts they represent give them supernatural abilities. Such as the "beast of secrets", who has black and grey fur and gets an incredible amount of knowledge of future events and conspiracies. Sure enough... the rest of the nefils think he went insane, exspecially when he attacks Denalien unprompted the second they meet.
Denalien feels very curious about humans, as they are the only intelligent lifeform after nefils, but after a while his curiosity wins(after thousand of years humans are made) and he makes contact with an old woman who is a "witch". Not the woman nor Denalien realise that in truth the woman is haunted by a demon- who granted her witch powers in the first place.
The old woman realises that nefils are eternal living and tries to gain that for herself through witchcraft, because of that Denalien has to kill her. That mildly annoyed the demon, for that woman was it's toy for the time being. The demon possesses the dead body of the woman and follows after Denalien- something that Denalien did not notice.
The demon proceeds to kill every each nefil in their designated living place one by one, except for Denalien- who does not understand what is going on, he believes he got cursed by the witch and that's what he is facing. His closest brother- Lethupan is the last to get killed and his dead body gets possessed, who from then on haunts Denalien for thousands of years to come, never kills him, always chases and fights, but never kills him.
Denalien mainly got 2 enemies in the story, both of them are demons (fallen angels) who's identities he nearly doesn't even get to figure out.
Moloch the hunter, is the one that haunts Denalien throughout his life.
The other one is Beelzebub the creator.
Beelzebub's deal with Moloch is that whoever Moloch kills, the souls and the bodies belong to him, from which he will make various monsters. Souls of victims, souls of criminals mixed with bodies of animals and various other organic materials.
His master creation is this golem made of every nefil that got killed. Their body got crafted into a giant nefil-looking golem, and every each one's soul jammed into it. (the color yellow got special meaning in Denalien's story) The main controlling soul is the one nefil that hated Denalien the moment they met, for the beast of secrets knew that Denalien would cause the death of their whole species.

Goncharov: Fandom's Struggle Between Fanon vs. Canon and How That's Created A Mythos Rivaling The Greeks
A tag ramble to this post that got away from me and became too long to feel okay putting in the tags lol. It can be easily read as a stand alone though.
It's absolutely FASCINATING to me being able to both watch and participate in the Goncharov (?)fandom(?). It's taking everything that fandom culture is and letting it run free without any barriers to stop it.
Because frankly, I can't think of anything (to my knowledge) quite like it in recent history to reach such a scale. Both the ability to write stories down and the rise of copyright have had a significant impact on the way stories are told. We went from a storytelling culture that slowly evolved each story told by the person telling it, to one that is very close-handed to the narratives created.
And yes, to some extent, this twisting and evolving still happens in fandoms to the point that fanon and canon can become so separated it feels jarring. But that's just it isn't it? There always remains the canon. That will always be the true story. Fanfiction will forever be fanfiction, no matter how much we want it to be "real." You can whittle away at the narrative to shape it into something more appealing, but it will always be stuck as a block of wood.
Yet, the very fact that fanon exists proves that we never lost that want to change stories and make them a little bit our own. All that we lost was the medium to do so. Evolve something too far, and it won't be the same, will it? We're stuck in the confines of "canon."
I have seen fanfiction of fanfiction before, but it tends to quite quickly pitter out without its own foundation to stand upon. More can be added to the universe, but what's there does not change. It does not evolve the way a story passed down orally does; in a story spoken, the canon is forced to slowly change by the memory and style of the speaker. A classic game of telephone.
Goncharov however? There is no original story; there is no true canon. Not only is the story evolving freely from storyteller to storyteller, but the only reason there is even a coherent story in the first place is that there are multiple storytellers weaving the tale at once yet also expecting you to fill in the gaps.
It's like we're all playing that one writing game where each person writes a sentence back and forth to create a story. Yet, instead of you and one friend, we're playing it on this gargantuan sitewide scale that can't possibly all be connected into a singular coherent narrative. But you're not supposed to be able to. Each person can choose what they want to know it as. It's like some big giant exploratory choose-your-own-adventure book. The framework is there, but it's going in 50 different directions and you can always add another one in just for fun. You discover the story as you read, but only the bits you like get added on.
It's fucking incredible.
We all see each piece of media through our own personal lenses but never like this?? Not to this extent. We're all collectively joining together to obsess over the little ideas in our heads we got from each other's prompts and are excitedly spewing them regardless of how contradictory they are. We do something similar brainstorming with others but not with 12k messages in a single day.
Would this have even been possible before the rise of social media? Not to mention the strong sense of community Tumblr has that is so rare to see with such a large amount of people. There's more people than you could ever know on this site but we all act like some deranged extended family. Yes, people can work together but so rarely do people that vary so greatly in personality and life experiences, get together in such larger numbers to do a little silly goofy CREATE AN ENTIRE STORY THAT DOESN'T EXIST.
We pull shenanigans like this all the time. But this time it's not like eeby deeby or even the mishapocolyse; this time we're seeing the power of an entire community working together to create not only layers and layers of memes but layers of memes shaping an entire mythos. It's like we're the Greeks thinking up stories of our gods but instead it's a homoerotic mafia movie from 1973 written by Matteo JWHJ 0715 and Martin Scorsese that all started with a picture of a shoe.
We have stumbled across something fascinating and new. This may not be the first mafia movie that's been thought up and played around with but this is absolutely the first to be created by thousands of people working together but also towards their own individual goal/story. We're seeing the power that created mythology being wielded by fandom culture, and it's letting it evolve like no other story has.
It's free from the confines of prescribed canon, but there is so much being created that can be canon if you want it to be. This isn't changing one by one like some spoken tale towards exponential growth either. This has been created like one spectacular big bang. We had a funny post of a boot, and then we had a poster and that was enough to make Tumblr go collectively insane. (Not that we weren't already.) I want to (politely) shake all of you by the shoulders till everyone realizes how crazy this all is.
This story is ours, all of ours. Goncharov (1973) is held together by the power of belief and love for it. We have fragments of canon, yes, but it only exists because we want it to. And God-damn it, I hope we do it again. Together we can create things that we'd never thought could exist (and in this case still doesn't).
-We- are strong. Please never forget that.
As it now 6am and I have not slept, I will leave you with a quote; Goncharov's final solemn plea as he slowly bled to death, for I feel it's in an odd way rather fitting.
"What is the dust but a remnant of what we once were, all around us coated with it.
But we brush it away in search of something else. Not everything that mattered once matters now.
Yet you seem to think that's the only way, just keep dusting it.
You never stop to think that some things we search for might not be worth keeping.
Nothing has meaning unless we continue to think it does.
So please... I beg of you, can't we just move on and let this sickening contempt between us dissolve into dust?"

dionysus in tsats
contains slight spoilers for tsats!
ok i mentioned in a previous post how i love dionysus and his story had so much potential to be included in tsats, so here's just some stuff i wish happened/were mentioned.
(preface to say that i did love all the interactions with him, i just wish we had... more)
if you're going to add ANY queer characters, the first one mentioned should literally be the god of homosexuality, cross dressing, and effeminacy
like all the minor characters were wonderful, but cmon! ancient greece wasn't exactly as open to equal/consenting gay relationships as people think, and strict gender stereotypes were really degrading to trans people (especially for "feminine men")
so if you consider dionysus's whole life basically, he would have had it really rough!!! like nico!!!
i think that if anyone could have helped nico/other campers come to term with their identities, it should've been mr. d, and it would have been such a different side of his we wouldn't have seen before
like a scene with him talking to nico about his relationship with will or talking about nico's whole catholic guilt sexuality crisis — that's the kind of dionysus content I NEEDED
i feel like the whole amphithemis storyline wasn't as well-explained/in depth as i wanted it to be
i was SO EXCITED to hear about this bc dionysus's childhood is super interesting and i wanted to see which interpretation of the myths rick/mark went with
it would have been so cool to maybe hear snippets about ancient greece, what happened to the other lamian centaurs, how this singular one ended in tartarus
or even maybe someone, i don't know, REASSURING AMPHITHEMIS THAT "THE CHILD" IS A GROWN-ASS GOD
when will and nico were recounting their journey to chiron and mr. d, i would have also loved to see some reaction from dionysus about his former caretaker being a mania in tartarus
also some acknowledgement of dionysus's madness! in a lot of versions of the myths, hera actually drove dionysus mad for a year (don't quote me on that timeline), so i think he could have had an interesting aside, if not full convo, about sympathizing with amphithemis being driven mad
there's a quote that's something like "dionysus stared dreamily at will as he described the underworld" or something like that — i wish we got a comment from mr d on what the underworld used to look like when he went down there (to save his mother semele who he brought to immortality)
according to riordan wiki (but very conflicting in greek mythos), dionysus was a demigod during the (original) gigantomachy, so i wish wish wish we got a comment on maybe what that was like or talking to the most recent batch of demigods about how to recover from it
a therapy session/talk between nico and mr d would have been really cool to read, or even a post-nightmare talk after mr d finished eating his popcorn
more dionysus/chiron interactions? some myths say that after he was raised by the nymphs, dionysus was sent over to train under chiron for a bit to gain wisdom and stuff, so i would die for some more of their relationship
also i've been wanting this for years now, but a dionysus reveal where he actually looks like his true form (aka literally stunning) would've solved my life problems. especially in such a gay book.
this is all i can think of for now but i'm literally planning on writing a bunch of chb and dionysus stuff soon because i'm in my "hyperfixate on a singular greek god's conflicting life story and deciding what i most agree with instead of studying for midterms" era :)
#more dionysus brain rot#i love this man#add to this with any more dionysus thoughts#i will read all of them#dionysus#tsats spoilers#tsats#the sun and the star#pjo dionysus#pjo

the readmores seem to be working some of the time which is good enough for me
under the hood is jason's attempt to rewrite his death and he fails so badly !!! he has changed and bruce has changed and it means that bruce fails to save him again and will continue to fail!! (thinking ALL the time about 'i forgive you for not saving me' because it is /not/ the same as saying 'it's not your fault'.) & yeah the jason not dodging on purpose is 1. uth is a suicide attempt reading 2. that scene earlier in the issue where he's like 'you made me choose my wound'wrt to the batarang slice to the head or the shoulder 3. jason's placed an ultimatum in front of bruce & in throwing the batarang bruce /has/ chosen and jason's just letting that choice play out as it should. there is no secret third option!!
the comic is two-fold for me--half of it is about the tragedy of father & son, of what could have been but is now too late. that's the parts with the joker, that's the confrontation, that's bruce telling alfred to keep the memorial case up. the other half is a critique of the batman mythos. that's everything with black mask, that's jason's initial identity reveal in issue #7, etc. the two parts are very… separate to me. they're different discussions jason is trying to do different things. jason's ideological disagreement with bruce is separate from his yearning for his death to have mattered. (like again, jason's actions as red hood are what talia suggested, 'take gotham from him'!! the final confrontation--i don't remember the exact quotation but it's like 'however this ends, it'll be with the three of us.' distinct goals.)
(REALLY NEAT POEM TY FOR SHARING !!! BRUCE & WILLIS JUXTOPOSITIONS MAKE ME ILL)
jason can take off the helmet & domino and walk into a convenience store and no one would give him a second glance!! it's about his anonymity when he was wandering the streets catatonic it's about how he's legally dead and no one's looking for him it's about that total lack of division between his identities!!!
about the 'under the hood is a suicide attempt' thing, i'm writing a fic (… trying to write. you need to stretch the definition of writing a bit to cover what i am doing) that focuses on jason's suicidality post-uth and i think that's the closest i'll ever get to summarizing my thoughts on it. unfortunately the fic is being extremely extremely mean. it'll escape wip hell eventually i'm not allowing myself to move on from this interest until it does !!
yeah i uh… do not separate the comics haha i love drawing connections between them forever and ever (insert the incredibly fucking stupid aditf/bftc possum reflex theory here <- i need to actually write this up eventually) jason & his mothers is something i am just as insane about as jason & his fathers. jason taking care of catherine, jason throwing himself between sheila and the bomb… i refuse to believe he is anything other than devoted to talia. he would defend her forever. the jason & sheila relationship makes me feel all kinds of emotions also. but that's an aditf conversation.
y'know what very fair!! i think it could absolutely make in-world sense if jason was only in the background giving pointers but honestly i think him seeing bruce face to face there… oh it's a lot to gnaw on. how bruce assumed it couldn't be jason because jason 'was never that good' & assuming that clayface copied nightwing's moves. while jason is literally shouting in bruce's face about how he always viewed jason as a 'second-rate robin'. makes me ILL.
okay so disclaimer i haven't actually finished batgirl 2000 i'm like a third in. HOWEVER. cass at that point is batgirl and she does not give a singular shit about having a civilian identity or doing normal people things. there's a whole thing where her identity and face gets added to a federal database and babs needs her to get that information deleted but like. cass just does not see the stakes, hears that she'll never be able to have a civilian life if she doesn't get the info deleted and does not care. there is not separation between batgirl & cass and obviously that comes down to all of cass never /having/ a civilian life prior to this. she does not want it because she's never had a taste of it, doesn't know the appeal. but jason DOES and he's still one with the red hood, and i'm pretty sure that's all he is up to until like… the fucking prince of gotham arc in 2018. and he WAS a kid who had school and wanted to participate in theater and had a girlfriend (pre-crisis) and like… he knows what having that was like, and he rejects it. he believes he can't have it anymore, cass i think doesn't realize she can have it either. okay this is extremely incoherent but i hope you get the gist sdfjkldsjf
lobdell trying sooo hard to make jayroy just two manly men who are friends zero sexual tension here and he fucking. writes them so gayly. it's ridiculous. make them kiss already. (okay it's tynion but everything roy does just for jason's sake during the amnesia arc + the breakup at the end of rh/a + rhato 27's phone call with the 'hey it's jaybird' + rhato v2 49 or whatever the fuck issue it was where jason sees past roy and the 'hey future jaybird' 'you forgot your hat.' + there is more. i am dying on the floor over them.) but yeah rhato jason's conflict and beliefs are fundamentally different from post-crisis jason's. rhato jason's about like… reconciliation and forgiving yourself for the awful things you've done in your past, it's redemption and learning to trust and if i pretend really hard i can imagine a version of rhato that actually approaches these themes well. post-crisis jay is um. not about that.
honestly i'm not entirely sure if i agree with MYSELF about the shift in jason's intent in issue #10 but it's a really interesting way to interpret events and that's enough to like… sell me on playing around in that sandbox, if it makes sense? there are a lot of different ways to interpret comics and depending on the fic or the connections i'm trying to make i'll connect the dots differently.
OKAY YES THIS IS INTERESTING. first of all i do have to admit that i do care about red hood jason much more than i do about jaybin. sorry jaybin. thus all my jaybin thoughts and interpretations are just a little bit skewed in order to serve the person he becomes later on. i like blorbo so much i am warping his past self to better serve my vision. it is the way of things.
don't worry i absolutely get what you're saying and where that interpretation is coming from! like the whole thing with bruce calling jason robin, not even offering it, just… bestowing it upon him. yeah i can see jaybin coming to that conclusion. (also it'd be really interesting to contrast, in universe, jason's belief that robin = bruce's son with the fact that dick is no longer robin & was never adopted + the emphasis back in dick's day that batman and robin were /partners/, that robin wasn't a sidekick. dick & bruce have always been more… equal, in a way that jason & bruce aren't. and i think that'd be fun to play around with, in how they view the role of robin.)
(also ow ow that writing hurts. jaybin, baby, no…)
it's a slightly different take on things, but jason believing his role in bruce's life is contingent on him being robin is something i've also played around with before. i think just prefer a different interpretation, at the end of the day :p like for me, i generally gravitate towards that jason /knows/ that he was bruce's son, knows that he was loved like one. under the hood then becomes about the betrayal: 'i /know/ what i was to you, what i meant to you. so why did my death change nothing?'
(i'm gonna be entirely real it's at least 30% out of spite because dc /has/ tried to retcon their relationship into something less directly father & son. y'know, the 'i'm not your father i don't need teenage rebellion' + his headstone in the movie calling him 'ally & friend'. nope nope nope they're father and son now shut up dc <3)
(also if anything i say is ever directly contradictory it's because many different interpretations live in my brain in equal validity and sometimes i lose track of which specific thread i'm talking about LOL. whoops!!)
a bit tangential but something that i'll always keep consistent for jason is that he does not differentiate in and out of the mask, like… subconsciously he cannot make that distinction. robin's a costume for jason. like in his internal monologue he's calling bruce bruce 100% of the time, whether he's wearing the cowl or not. in the confrontation jason was calling for his dad (bruce) while speaking to batman. like he consciously understands that bruce acts different in and out of the cowl, but he doesn't /get/ the internal compartmentalization?? if that makes sense???
anyway yippee. i love jason todd he's actively ruining my life all the time. he makes me so sad. i want to explode him in one of this popcorn machines and fling him into a caldera and tuck him into bed with fifteen pills and glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling.
hi hi hello i am also abnormal about batman: under the hood (2005). i would gladly talk about it forever and ever. here are some things i think about often that i'd like to hear your perspective on :3
what are your thoughts on jason's getup + gear (the bomb in the helmet, wavy knife, lack of any real symbols on his outfit, etc.)
do you think the batarang was an accident and if it was what do you think bruce was actually trying to do with that thing
how does jason feel about alfred in all this
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING I LITERALLY LOVE YOU
im gonna put it all under a cut because its super long
Ok im gonna start with the batarang incident because that’s the one i think about the most often haha. I like looking at events from both a meta and an in-universe perspective, and i think the batarang incident is such an interesting product of commercialization, because Batman isn’t allowed to kill– he’s not allowed to be a murderer, but the Red Hood, who challenges him in every conceivable way cannot be allowed to live. So you get the batarang incident which dc tries very hard to convince you is an accident. Anyways!! In-universe i actually don’t have one specific answer! The thing that i love most about the comics is how versatile and flexible they are, so i always interpret the incident differently depending on what i’m doing it for. Whether i’m writing a good dad bruce fic or whether im making an artwork that showcases him being awful or whether im looking at things from his perspective or jason’s, i have the most fun when i can change it up every time! But i think with total canon compliance, the interpretation i like most is that the incident was sort of an accident. By that, i mean that i completely agree with the joker that bruce is a master marksman and he would not miss his shot. I think that bruce was fully intending to hit Jason’s neck, but in the moment of panic, he wasn’t fully aware that he was hitting Jason’s neck, if that makes sense. He’s hyper trained for instinctively attacking and reacting to threats when he’s overwhelmed by thoughts and emotion, but those instincts don’t account for the fact that the threat in question is his son.
Next up, Jason’s get-up!! First of all, i LOVE IT. as an artist, UTRH is my overall favourite outfit for jay. It’s so distinct despite being very simple and the colour scheme is truly chef’s kiss, monochrome with a splash of bright red is absolutely brilliant. Not to mention that silhouette!? It’s so unique despite its simplicity and i adore it!
Ok sorry now actual stuff about more than the looks. I think all of it is absolutely brilliant, especially for where his character was at during UTRH. the bomb in his helmet is a triple kill with showing people how skilled he is– how many other characters would be able to get a bomb so stable that they can have it in their fucking helmet– how dedicated he is to what he does, and how insane (affectionate) he is. Also just banger in terms of practicality to have a bomb where absolutely no one would suspect, being combined with the fact that he wears a mask underneath meaning he can take it off and use it whenever he needs to.
The wavy knife has SO much symbolism potential i adoooooreee it. The fact that he uses a knife that is specifically designed with the intention of injuring and causing more pain than your average knife is so tasty for subtle metaphor of jason being willing to hurt people more than strictly necessary to achieve his goals. I also think it looks great too, very fun design and adds something really dynamic to his silhouette whenever he’s holding it.
And THE LACK OF SYMBOL AHHHH ITS SO GOOODD!!! Once again, i like looking at things from a meta perspective as well, and GOD the lack of symbol is so fascinating. I think that DC took off the (R) that jay had on his fit during hush because they wanted to distance him from their batfamily cash-cow. They knew for sure that even if in-story, jason was doing it to mock bruce, having a direct visual link between a character that represented and showed everything wrong with their money-maker and the money-maker itself would be Bad for a comic that would definitely be scrapbooked together and summarized and taken out of context by the fandom. MOREOVER, symbols and logos have been inherently associated with superheroes and good guys in general– barring characters that are obvious “evil” parallels of heroes (e.g bizarro)– and making jason lack something thats become associated with heroes subtly creates a visual emphasis on what DC wants to convince us that the red hood is in fact a villain. All very fun stuff, and in-universe is also sooo fun. I think that in canon as well, the lack of symbol is a layer of separation between jason and who he used he to be. I think it can be exemplified wonderfully in his own words, “I am no one’s son.” (i FUCKING LOVE THAT LINE BTW IT DRIVES ME FUCKING INSANE EVERY TIME I SEE IT GRTNJARJHR) jason obviously still wants reassurance that bruce loved him and cared about him but he doesn’t consider himself bruce’s son anymore. Bruce’s son– to jason– was robin, not just jason, and everything that robin meant. So now that jason is a criminal, now that he isn’t robin anymore, now that he isn’t bruce’s son anymore, he chooses (needs) to have that layer of separation between being a hero (being robin), being a bat, and his persona as red hood. I think that as jason transitions slowly from being a villain into being an anti-hero, it would be interesting and fun for him to have a symbol. But not the red bat. I hate the red bat.
And finally, alfred! I am personally of the opinion that jason loves all of his parental figures, regardless of whatever other feelings he has for them as well. I think alfred has always sort of been an enabling abusive figure, and jason can see that, but he still holds fond and loving memories of the man. As in he can recognize that it wasn’t a good thing that all alfred did was support jason in the aftermath of whatever bruce made him go through as a kid instead of actually putting a stop to it, but he can’t resent him too much for it either. I think he definitely does have some resentment towards alfred for the aftermath of his death, though. Jason obviously understands bruce’s reservations with murder, even if he hates that bruce has them, but he also definitely knows that alfred shouldn’t have those, and i think that he resents alfred a little for not doing anything. Honestly im not too sure with alfred, i don’t like him very much and i think i project a little onto jason and can’t fully come up with how he would feel about alfred.
Sorry about that last answer, but other than that i hope you enjoyed my thoughts!!!! Thank you sooooooo much for asking. I absolutely adore you. And i would love love love to hear all of your own thoughts on these things!!!! What do you think about jason’s fit and the batarang incident and his thoughts on alfred? And Also! What do you think about “I am no one’s son” because it is highkey one of my favourite lines in the entire comic and i want to know your thoughts on it soo bad.
(also sorry for the inconsistent and horrible capitalization i wrote this all out in google docs first and cannot be bothered to edit it all)
