Matt, the stuck up son of the stuck of major of Threed, bought a bunch of votes for prom king, and then someone tries to play a prank on him at prom because he has PSI powers but it goes HORRIBLY WRONG and then he dies and later is revived by giygas like the rest of threed's deceased and his first thought is "i bought all those prom king votes FOR NOTHING!!!"

What's next?

Well, I have to make the bracket itself. As you can see, there's a bit more cats than I was intending to have, which means that certain polls in round 1 will have more than just two options. I can already tell you that a lot of the cats from the same fandoms are going to be eliminated in round one. That's why I kept them in. I'm planning on making up the first round match ups based heavily on the similarities between cats and the fandoms they're from. ALSO as you've probably noticed, some cats come in a bundle. That's because they're a family. I'm not doing this to Kitty Softpaws and Puss (at least YET), because even though they also get married in the end, there's a huge gap in their submission numbers. If you're wondering, how big, you may want to know that up to Tigger from Winnie the Pooh (that is, almost the entire first pic) are the cats that got 2+ submissions, in their order of popularity.

Next step - brackets!!! I want to do this well and I hope I don't underestimate certain fandoms!!!

top five worst adaptations/reboots(/remakes):

Going with the first few things that pop into my head.

 I think most reboots/remakes of horror movies from the 80s are bad and unnecessary. Sometimes it’s because the original isn’t great - Prom Night (1980) is not my jam; Prom Night (2008) is somehow worse! Sometimes it’s because the original is good enough that it doesn’t need a remake, especially one so subpar - Brian De Palma’s Carrie (1976) vs Carrie (2013); Black Christmas (1974) is great so what the hell happened with Black Christmas (2006, 2019)? And sometimes it’s because certain movies really work for that decade and either don’t translate to a modern day setting or there’s nothing that putting it in a modern day setting will add to the story - John Carpenter’s original Halloween (1978) works because it’s so atmospheric and he knew how to light a movie so you could actually SEE what was happening; Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007) is so terrible in so many ways, but mostly because I don’t need or care about Michael Myers’ tragic backstory; David Gordon Green’s Halloween (2018) reboot/remake trilogy thing said nothing new but annoyed me plenty AND killed off Judy Greer AND I couldn’t see shit so what was the point? Horror remakes: just don’t do them. 

Almost every time they take an animated Disney movie and turn it into an uninspired live action and/or photorealistic live action movie, I’m not into it. It’s never as vibrant, it’s never as fun, sometimes they miscast SO badly (sorry Emma Watson) - use your Disney+ subscription to watch 2D animation like the universe intended. The Lion King animated movie is gorgeous; The Lion King photorealistic movie looks like mud.

I’m not saying that the original Gossip Girl on the CW was a work of art (I’m not saying the first season was not a work of art either though), but it wasn’t as boring as the HBOMax reboot. Truly, no one was likable on that show and they made Luke Kirby a creep! No one asked for this!

Long before we had Marvel/superhero fatigue, 20th Century Fox made the first X-men movie with the positively inspired casting choices of Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellan and I loved it! Even X2 was fun. (X3 went off the rails and was bad.) Ten years later and a solo Wolverine movie in between, they decided to soft reboot the franchise with those First Class movies and you know what? They shouldn’t have. Except for one or two moments here and there, those movies are all pretty awful. I’m not sure how you can mess up the Days of Future Past storyline that badly or cast Oscar Isaac only to make him a member of the blue man group, but they should all be ashamed. I still maintain that the most worthwhile X-Men adaptation in media is the animated series from the 90s.

I don’t know if this qualifies as a soft reboot but when Fox brought The X-Files back in 2016, it was a lesson in “be careful what you wish for because it’s going to suck.” Except I didn’t wish for this because I watched the second movie and it sucked so I was completely fine with never getting more new episodes again. What we got was Scully whispering a lot, some half-assed search for William that I was not invested in (they spent nine seasons denying Mulder and Scully had boned even after she had his damn kid!), and monsters of the week episodes that were so uninspired that I didn’t even watch the second season of the reboot (maybe didn’t finish the first season of the reboot?). And now there’s talk of a Jordan Peele remake of the show to which I say - find something else. The (OG) X-Files worked because it was the perfect place in the perfect time with the perfect people and you’re never going to trap that lightning in a bottle twice so why try?

Last year, zombie Prom Queen and Prom King (the back of my jacket had a logo for "Road Kill High")

The year before - Werewolf of London (I sat there for ages and made a Chinese menu, and found myself a piña colada in Tesco) and Vampire Queen (featuring a cape and neck frill she sewed herself). Plus as a bonus the outfit she wore to work that day.

And not strictly speaking Halloween but spooky couples cosplays - Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett, and Winnie Sanderson and Billy Butcherson

Yay for Miss Kavi Sharma!! I’m so happy for more Asian and neurodivergent representation!

I am planning to get Kavi around April/May. I’ll go to the AG place to pick her out. Why at that time? So she can be a graduation present to myself!

I don’t think I’ve mentioned, but I love love love musicals! The first one I remember seeing was The King and I in 1999 at a local theater. I wonder what Kavi’s first musical memory was?

My top few favorite shows are A Chorus Line, Phantom of the Opera, Zombie Prom, Daddy Long Legs, Jekyll & Hyde, Little Shop of Horrors, Cats, and Rent. I could name like 20 more than deserve honorable mention… There’s so many great albums it’s difficult to pick! What could Kavi’s favorite shows be? …aside from Wicked, a no doubt iconic show.

I’m surprised that I actually want some of her clothing! The Bollywood outfit, the rainbow pajamas, the yoga outfit with the elephant on it! Even her meet outfit is growing on me.

Other Feral Notes that have nothing to do with schools but the younger generation: 

When the Feral lock down went down I don’t want to forget Chernabog’s son was locked in too. He is not a zombie and survived in shadow form and was hiding in Pixie Hollow. It’s how he wasn’t found or affected. That’s what Bastien was speaking about when he spoke of a moving shadow to Maddy some while back and comparing it to Peter Pan. He was at Skull Rock when all this started spying on Atticus’s meeting before the zombie riot and got stuck in when Delta shut it down with the dance spell. So if the dwelling of Feral does find tortured or mutilated carcasses of strange kinds, animals, fae, what have you that don’t seem natural anywhere, oocly, let it be known, it can be from him. We know what he’s like. He won’t be able to not be himself forever. 

Lena’s zombie still houses the soul of Magica De Spell. She was already a magic object. So her zombie isn’t normal because her shell isn’t normal. She has no control. She’s stuck. She’s trying to figure out how to communicate from within the zombie, but it’s worse than trying to control Lena. To say the least she’s in a pickle. 

Chernabog is still in Delta’s necklace. 

Barrel is pretty aggravated about the island he procured for his mother being behind Delta’s fairie ring. 

Spade isn’t because she’s bored of the whole school thing and even though it sucks to be upped is young and more interested in making a name for herself like her mother and be a real someone in the Boogie Empire. Fans are so much easier to rally, seduce, and persuade than people are to educate, and so much more fun. 

CJ still has possession of the black cauldron. 

The Horned King is still dancing.

The Evolution of “Someday” in Zombies pt. 2

There is one reprise of “Someday” later in the first Zombies movie, which comes after the number “BAMM” or when Zed invited Addison to a zombie party. This reprise I believe is referred to as the ballad version of “Someday.” For this reprise, it has a much more chill tone and a bit of a slower tempo. Additionally, Zed and Addison sing this reprise of “Someday” in a light garden that is located in Zombietown, or the zombie’s side of Seabrook, but once again are alone. With some time having passed between the first version and this reprise, Addison and Zed have begun to experience some of those obstacles that they seemingly will have to keep facing in a world that appears unbudging in their stance to see humans and zombies together or for unity between the two groups. For Addison, her challenge is constantly being kept away from Zed and the other zombies due to careful observation and constantly being around the top members of the cheerleading squad, who are also the most anti-zombie. For Zed, it’s having to hack into a regulator that is meant to keep him stabilized so that he has the strength or power to win his football games, resulting in more wins or privileges for the zombie students at Seabrook. While there is still a sense of optimism, signaling the couple is not willing to declare defeat so easily, this reprise is not as upbeat, showing a progression in their relationship and understanding that they are going to be the ones to make or lead the change that they envisioned for this world.

The next reprise of “Someday” comes towards the end of the second film, Zombies 2. This reprise of “Someday” is akin to the ballad or first reprise heard, but starts with the lyric “You’re from the perfect paradise and I’m living on the darker side” rather than the very beginning of the song, or “I know it might be crazy but did you hear that story?” By starting at that lyric instead, this demonstrates how Addison and Zed have faced and overcome more obstacles in their relationship (or had more growth as individuals and a couple), as well as how this “fantasy” they first imagined together is becoming more and more of a reality. The exclusion or choice to skip over the lyric “Sounds like a fantasy” in the reprise of “Someday” in Zombies 2 also carries weight due to Zed and Addison singing this at Prawn (or this movie universe’s version of Prom), which was the first time zombies or monsters were allowed to attend and, more specifically, Zed’s hope that him and Addison would be crowned Prawn king and queen. Though the movie never explicitly announces who won Prawn king and queen if I remember correctly, the fact that Zed and Addison would have been the first monster-human couple to be crowned also shows how they are one step removed from that fantasy world and one step closer to being themselves where they are accepted as a couple in their own world.

This reprise of “Someday” also includes a few lyric alterations. These include Addison’s lines “I had a feeling if you got to know me,” which is just a tense change from present to past, and “I’ve got a feeling now you really know me,” which once again points to development in their relationship. Without having to go into full details again about Zombies 2, a love triangle partially formed between Addison, Zed, and one of the newly introduced werewolves, Wyatt, and both Zed and Addison were under a fair amount of pressure as they sought to become class president and cheer team captain, respectively. I feel it is also fair to bring up the plot point of how Addison is believed to be a werewolf and is fully willing to accept that she is, but Zed at first tries to stop her from knowing for sure due to not wanting Addison to feel different or outcasted if she is truly a monster/werewolf (she’s not though). However, by the end of the movie and the time this reprise is sung, all that conflict has seemingly been resolved and with Zed and Addison being able to see each other through their lows and navigating through jealousy/distrust, it appears that they have an even stronger relationship which again contributes to the lyric switch of “now you really know me.”
