The Valg

Helheihm, the land of the Valg is dark and cold. There are thermal vents under the ground that shoot up forming points of abundance around the world. 

The vast majority of the world is devoted to the cater to outside clientele. With some areas with these thermal vents made into entertainment centers. 

The rich and the criminal come to Helheihm for the same reason - to indulge in things that polite society may find abhorrent. 

Pleasure houses and blood sports are the norm for the Valg. Those who come the Valg lands are entered into bargains to not harm a Valg or a kidnap of Valg without explicit consent of the cluster its from. 

Valg are an asexual species, though some are known to form Mating Bonds when the bonds to their cluster, or siblings are severed. 

All Valg are able to "birth" other Valg - forming them from pieces of their soul. The smallest unit of community among Valg are its cluster, other Valg its been born with. 

Clusters can range from 2 to 8, with any range of even or odd numbered in that. Clusters have what scholars call as "platonic mating bonds" with their cluster. Able to sense each other's location, feel each other's emotions, speak mind-to-mind, and share powers. 

Valg cut off from their Clusters waste away and are hard to interrogate simply because of how quickly they mentally decline. 

Many Valg clusters are contracted to wealthy Asteri or Primals to do their work. These Asteri and Primals are called Handlers, as they hold the leash for the Valg cluster they have bought. 

These leashed Valg hunt enemies of their Handlers down by consuming a drop of their blood. 

Or they act as spies, detecting lies during important negotiations their Handlers conduct. 

Valg don't consume regular food like the other races. They consume anything related to mental states of others. Ie emotions and dreams. Valg are known for their superior mental abilities able to break a person's mental shields. They can scramble a person's mind, or make them unknowingly a puppet. Some Valg are powerful seers drawing on their Dreamwalking abilities to read the stars. 

It's a well known practice that the elite who learn their children's Fated Mates are to be Valg will kill the cluster the specific Valg is from and have them imprint or bond to their child to form the basis for the Mating Bond in the future. 

It was known previously left too long alone, Valg from individual clusters are harder to break and many adult Valg choose to die with their cluster, or aren't the same after their deaths. 

Within Helheihm this practice is frowned upon but many Valg will take such an assignment for the right price to help their own cluster.

in short, Valg are opportunistic, cunning, and pragmatic individuals.
