In New York, drivers with a clean driving record but a low credit score are quoted $1,367 more for car insurance, on average, than otherwise identical drivers with excellent credit, according to a new analysis of tens of thousands of car insurance quotes.
For drivers in ZIP codes with predominantly Black residents, the gap yawns even wider: The cost of poor credit in those areas is $3,411 a year, on average.
These disparities were uncovered in a study of nearly 100,000 insurance quotes from 10 major New York car insurance companies. It was conducted by the Consumer Federation of America, a nonprofit advocacy organization.
The findings show just how much car insurance premiums can be inflated by factors that aren’t directly related to how safely a driver behaves on the road. They also reveal how a driver’s credit score can combine with their ZIP code to raise the cost of car insurance, which is mandatory for drivers in nearly every state.
“We’re talking about experienced drivers with no history of accidents or tickets facing premiums that are hundreds or sometimes thousands of dollars more, simply because of what shows up in their credit reports,” says Douglas Heller, the CFA insurance expert who led the new study. “This is unmistakably harmful to the people of New York.”
The same dynamic plays out across the country. Only California, Hawaii, and Massachusetts bar insurers from using drivers’ credit scores to set premiums. Everywhere else, a low credit score will likely raise your car insurance price, and your ZIP code could multiply the damage. (Insurers use a special “credit-based insurance score” for pricing, but it’s calculated in a very similar way to your normal credit score.)
By law, insurers aren’t allowed to use race and income to set car insurance premiums or decide whom to insure. But critics say factors like credit scores and ZIP codes can have a particularly significant effect on certain racial groups.
For example, Black, Latino, and Indigenous Americans are much more likely to have poor credit than white Americans, a reflection of decades of discriminatory policies including redlining that have limited opportunities for communities of color to build wealth.
This sets up a double whammy for drivers of color. “When you marry credit and territorial pricing, you get a disastrous result,” Heller says. “There’s an amplification of the credit penalty in majority nonwhite ZIP codes.”

I'm not 100% sure how to articulate this, but something that has been bothering me about I/P discourse (especially in the last month, it's gotten so much worse) that I haven't seen talked about in a productive way is the "yoking" effect that the extremist ugly takes create for the good-faith people just trying to talk about their issues. And I see it on both sides, and have felt compelled to act this way myself.
Essentially, when I talk about antisemitism (especially the significant spike in the last month), my goal is focused on educating people about the antisemitism and urging them to do something about their own behavior, help groups that are working on it, and/or become part of the people working on advocacy to that effect. I just want to talk about the antisemitism, and have that stand as a topic on its own terms. But the problem is, I'm a Jew and extremists on both sides have made it so that anything I post about this requires disclaimers that I also support the rights, freedoms, and care about the lives of Palestinians also. And I do! But that's not the point. The point is that Jews facing antisemitism should be able to talk about this without bringing in a whole separate topic to prove we're worth listening to. And I saw this with Israelis trying to talk about the grief they were feeling after the Hamas pogrom; they couldn't do it without either including some kind of statement about wanting peace, separating Hamas from Palestinians as a whole, etc. or face relentless antisemitic abuse.
And this effect comes both from outside people [supposedly] supporting Palestine being awful unless the Jew in question attaches sufficient disclaimers, as well as [supposedly] pro-Israel people who couldn't help themselves from spouting off dumb racist shit in their posts on otherwise valid topics.
But as I've watched things play out, and Western outsiders become more and more antisemitic in their [supposed] support of Palestine, I've noticed Palestinians and their not-antisemitic allies having to couch their [valid] criticisms of Israel with caveats about how antisemitism is not okay, or else face harassment when talking about their legitimate issues - even ones that aren't about Israel at all.
That's what I mean by "yoking" - this inability to talk about ourselves and our own issues without bad faith actors coercing us to address the other and "prove" that we're worth listening to. It's dehumanizing, because it means that our legitimate issues are always and only ever able to be discussed in the shadow of the other. They aren't allowed to stand on their own without risking harassment.
Anyway, I think the reasons we got here are complicated, but I lay most of the blame at the feet of uninvolved westerners using this conflict as a proxy for their own problems. I don't know that there's a way to fix this at this point, either, because the discourse has become so unbelievably toxic. I think the closest thing I've got is just the suggestion that if you see a Palestinian (or ally) talking about Palestinian issues and not being antisemitic about it, don't derail what they're saying even if they don't specifically denounce Hamas outright and/or antisemitism in their post. And if Jews (including and especially Israelis) are talking about antisemitism and/or legitimate issues and aren't being racist or Islamophobic about it, don't derail what we're saying even if we don't offer caveats denouncing the Israeli government and/or Islamophobia/anti-Arab racism in that specific post.
We can support each other in the face of danger and want peace without having to constantly be forced to talk about other issues and divert focus from our own issues.

Hi opencommunion - you are one of my favourite Tumblrs and I love hearing about Lebanese history from you. You say you are antiPhoenicianist - I hope you would tell us more about it. Hope you're having a great day.
aww thanks, I love your blog too <3
Phoenicianism is a Lebanese ethnonationalist ideology that basically argues that Lebanese people are ethnically/culturally unrelated to (and, implicitly or explicitly, superior to) not only other Arabs but other Levantine peoples. It's a secular ideology but it's extremely Islamophobic, so it posits that Lebanese Christians (especially Maronites) are the "purest" Lebanese people with a direct line of descent from the Phoenicians, who are portrayed as an almost supernaturally heroic and advanced culture who were supplanted by savage Arabs from the south (you probably recognize this as a Zionist talking point; more on that later). It's a narrative of Lebanese history that originates from rich European-educated Lebanese and their French & English orientalist buddies, and it bears all the hallmarks of European ethnonationalism and scientific racism. In my experience ascribing to Phoenicianism is associated with class and it doesn't represent the majority of Lebanese Maronites, who do consider ourselves Arabs. My family are dyed-in-the-wool Maronites from Wadi Qadisha, the cradle of Maronite culture, and for as far back as our family histories go we've always described ourselves as Arabs, with religion being the only difference—and an unimportant difference—between us and our Druze and Muslim neighbors. Phoenicianism predates the Zionist occupation but it started to take shape around the same time as Zionism, and is based in the same core orientalist myth: that the ancient Levant was populated by strictly separate and homogenous ethnocultures with exclusive claim over portions of the land, which were later supplanted by Arab Muslim invaders who oppressed a tiny remaining local population. (In reality, of course, SWANA cultures have always been internally diverse and mutually influential, and "Arabization" in the Levant was characterized by organic cultural shifts among local populations, with Arab culture influencing and combining with local cultures rather than replacing them). So when the Zionist settler project arrived they found easy allies in Phoenicianism. This relationship eventually culminated with the settler state backing the fascist Lebanese Phalanges Party (Kataeb in Arabic, a direct translation of Falange, the Spanish fascist party that inspired its founders) in the Lebanese Civil War. Israel used the Phalanges as a proxy to fight the Palestinian resistance in Lebanon, and it was Phalangists who collaborated with IOF to carry out the Sabra and Shatila massacres. This is the cruelest and ugliest moment in Lebanon's history and Phoenicianism enabled it; Phoenicianism enabled the cognitive dissonance necessary for Lebanese to participate in the occupation's genocide against our siblings and act as footsoldiers for the European fascist agenda in our region. The Phalangists and Zionists lost the war but there is still a Phalangist presence in the Lebanese government, and Phoenicianism is unfortunately alive and well among the Lebanese right wing at home and in the diaspora

the other thing i really like about bloodborne is that, despite being imo one of the few examples of a piece of media actually doing cosmic horror correctly and really earning that descriptor, it's very deliberate with how it subverts some of lovecraft's shittier tendencies in his writing. everyone fixates on his racism but you forget that poor people and foreigners can be Other too and man did he not like them either.
in bloodborne, the civilised, regimented university and later the church aren't the lone bastion of reason, them fucking about is what causes nearly every single problem in the game. natives to yharnam, stated to be one of the hearts of civilisation due to the power and wealth blood ministration brought the city, aside from the six year-old girl and a prostitute, are haughty xenophobes and unhinged at best even when sane, often trending towards homicidal. the only two sane people you find there are eileen and gilbert, and their accents compared to native yharnamites clearly place them as foreign.
and like look at this shit
In Yharnam, they produce more blood than alcohol, as the former is the more intoxicating.
The constables became victims of the beast, except for one survivor, who in turn devoured the creature whole, all by himself. The fable is a favorite among Yharnamites, who are partial to any stories of pompous, intolerant foreigners who suffer for their ignorance. It makes the blood taste that much sweeter.
like this is all text, yharnamites are a clear proxy of london at its peak and everything lovecraft spent time drooling over and they're fucking weird assholes
the curse descending upon the city isn't something that crawled out of the surrounding woods, but instead spread to them as the church started offloading refuse created by the outbreak to the surrounding impoverished areas.
even the fishing village, a clear echo of innsmouth, with their worship of kos, the great one that washed up dead on the shore (for what that's worth, because a dead god still dreams), aren't the antagonists here; instead it's byrgenwerth, pillaging the town and maiming and slaughtering the inhabitants en masse in the cold pursuit of academic knowledge

Regarding the issues surrounding the Kindergarten Mafia discord server, a large fandom server mostly dedicated to the kinnporsche fandom. It is an issue that encompasses multiple events and many other people have been hurt who I do not want to speak for, so this will not be the full picture, just a part of my part. If anyone reads this and has questions, they can reach out to me.
I am Will/Logan, also known as Sweet-William in fanfic circles, and I am not making this post because I have a vendetta, or to be malicious, as some of my previous actions have been called by the moderators of the server. I am making it because I have the right to speak on my experiences (as others I hope will speak up and share theirs, now that they know they are not alone), and because I want to warn people so what happened to me does not happen to them.
I am also making this post because @accal1a aka Hann the admin of the server has refused to delete content created by myself and many of my friends from the server, all of who left because they like me felt unsafe. The original request was sent by proxy as Hann has me blocked, and though they said they would unblock me so we could discuss it, they never did. As a writer I take it seriously when my work, and also details of my personal life, are taken. When I even offered to go through and delete it all myself if temporarily given access to the server, my messages were completely ignored.
The server is not a safe place for people of colour. It is not a place safe from racism, or xenophobia, and its leadership has historically been and continues to this day, to perpetuate racism in fandom spaces and shelter people who have hurt others with no real repercussions, accountability, or transparency.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The original issue was the result of this conversation between myself and Rachael, one of the moderators. I earlier stepped into a conversation where several microaggressions occurred regarding native american culture. As a Native, it was my right to speak up.
After this conversation I was urged to bring the issue directly to Hann, and from there the issues spiralled out of control. Hann originally was very supportive, and we became what I thought to be close friends. They made many reassurances Rachael would be held accountable, and changes would be made to the server to make it a safer place for pocs.
Rachael was never actually held accountable. Even when it came to light she had messaged me to issue the warning while lying to the rest of the mod team that she had "checked in on me" to see if I was alright after the incident. This was not the only time she secretly issued warnings to people, usually to defend her friends.
She was "demoted" but in actuality, the entire mod team was restructured and she simply was not on the top rung. Over the next two months many things happened, most of which are not my story to tell, and then it came to light Rachael had even further lied and never issued any warning or otherwise spoke to the person originally being racist in a mod capacity, this person being her friend, and refused to show what messages she did actially send.
To avoid any punishment she tried to "step down" as a mod before a choice could be made. And this was allowed. She was allowed to step down and continue to be in the server with no one knowing the actual story or that she couldn't be trusted and had abused her position.
After an incredibly vague statement was posted by the mod team regarding Rachael no longer being a mod, I broke and posted the conversation publicly and laid out the actual events. This was met with an overwhelming negative backlash, where it became clear to me this was a community where I was not safe, and any poc speaking up and calling for accountability would be seen as malicious and rocking the boat unnecessarily, while the moderators just watched on in silence.
The few moderators who were advocating for the poc server members were promptly fired, and though at one point a timeline vaguely outlining the events was posted, it and all evidence of what happened to me has since been deleted. And while Rachael originally left saying I was obviously trying to run her off the server, she has already returned at the urging of Hann.
Protecting people of colour and standing up to racism and xenophobia was never a priority in the kingergarten mafia server. And now that Hann has escalated to stealing work from people of colour that they have absolutely no right to, I am speaking up.
Respect us, be an ally, or face the consequences of what your community looks like with us gone.

By John Parker
The past few years have witnessed militant defensive actions and campaigns around the world defending the working-class movements that are collectively “fed up.”
They are fed up with the putrid smell of the deteriorating U.S. and West European imperialism — which rides on white supremacy.
Following the U.S.-backed 2014 coup in Ukraine, Nazi organizations were put into leading positions of power. The “ethnic cleansing campaign” they executed in the predominantly Russian-speaking Donbass region was finally countered last year despite the U.S.-led NATO proxy war.
On the continent of Africa, the actual impact of the “non-invasion” invasion of AFRICOM and U.S.-led NATO has been justified as a “war on terror.” However, even the United Nations was forced to expose that the U.S. is the source of terror — exposing another version of genocide on the African continent. The U.S. proxy wars have created and supported terrorists and policies that ensure the continuation of the U.S. and Western European plunder of resources, creating scarcity of water, food, health care, and electricity on top of debilitating sanctions.

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew issued a letter Monday calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and implored the federal government to follow his lead.
In his first-person statement, Kinew spoke of empathy for both Muslim Manitobans and Jewish Canadians who have felt the effects of the conflict. [...]
“Israel is an important ally in the Middle East, particularly as a democracy, and particularly as a counterbalance against other world powers who oppose Canada’s commitment to human rights”
“Israel is also an ally against the proxies of those world powers who oppose human rights, proxies who are at work in the region.”
Kinew says he wants people from both communities to be able to live together, just like people from every other background. [...]

Notes from the poster @el-shab-hussein: I'm Palestinian and uhhhh f*ck this nonsense :) Our genocide is not about Muslims VS. Jews; Palestinian Christians in Ghazzah are nearly an extinct group because of this genocide. 6 months into an accelerated genocide of Palestinians, this is atrocious, especially coming from an Indigenous man who should know better than to talk up Western imperialism in this way. I'm taking this as a warning sign of his throwing Indigenous people of Turtle Island under the bus in the future. The actual letter is less awful than this article presents, but it stills insists on bolstering Canada and the zionist occupation as arms of Western imperialism (what they call 'democracy'), and spreads falsified atrocity propaganda (tw: sexual assault, violent racism) to make its point.

just me rambling on again about how Eddie loves a black woman from infinity to infinityyyy
there's a 'face claim' under the cut because i said so. you've been warned
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay, listen here.
Ever since your family moved to Hawkins, life has been... different
You just turned 13 when your family uprooted to the small town in Indiana. Lucas was 10, and Erica was only 6.
It was a bit easier for your younger siblings to adjust, but you had to start fresh during your last year of middle school, going into high school. That sucked like a bitch.
Transitioning from a larger city with a decent mix of races to a predominantly white town was about as smooth as it sounded, not at all.
Though racism was not terrible, there were plenty of backhanded compliments, passive aggressiveness, and snarky comments.
You were always so "well-spoken", "well-mannered", "presentable".
You didn't "sound black".
You didn't "act black".
You were "pretty for a black girl."
Whatever the fuck that means.
You knew that begging your parents to move elsewhere was not an option, waste of time, so you always knew that the moment you had the chance, you weren't gonna stick around for too long.
Going into high school at the end of '82, just shy of a year after moving into Hawkins, was how yours and Eddie's paths crossed, just barely.
Since you could practically count on one hand how many black families were in Hawkins's population, not knowing one another by name was near impossible.
You know Jeff by proxy.
Your parents knew each other, and you were the same age, so of course you knew each other.
You wouldn't call him a friend per se, but you were friendly enough to exchange quick greetings in passing.
Jeff was with three older kids when you passed him in the hall.
A chubby, curly haired, white boy, a pale brunette girl, and a slim, lanky kid who looked like he was trying to grow out a bad haircut, all of which were decked out in jean and leather.
The polite smile and wave he gave made the lanky boy to turn and see who Jeff was waving at.
As soon as you caught each other's eyes, his curious expression turned into a lovestruck one.
You didn't pay much attention to it, though.
"Who is that?"
"Oh, no one. She's just the daughter of some friends of my parents."
Since you were in separate grades, you didn't regularly cross paths with any of the people you saw with Jeff often, but you did end up having an elective class with the brunette girl.
It was a couple of weeks in when you were partnered up with her for a project.
"Veronica is my government name. Call me Ronnie."
During lunch, Ronnie mentioned to Jeff how adorable you were.
"You got to meet her?!"
Ronnie would then go on about how you were so nice and polite, but you were also extremely smart and sassy.
She got to witness your wit first hand when you made a sneaky comeback at someone who gave one of those stupid 'for a black girl' comments.
"I think Eddie is going to blow a fuse."
"You got to meet HER?!"
The boy was starstruck every time you would unknowingly pass him in the hall or when he saw you from across the cafeteria.
"Would you just go up and talk to her, numbnuts?" Ronnie would say as she smacked the back of his head when she caught him staring a bit too hard.
"I can't just 'go up' to her!"
"The fuck not?"
He'd reply with silence, not really knowing what answer to give.
You were too good for him? He'd have no chance? You'd dismiss him? Reject him? What would he even say?
"I wouldn't know what to say..."
"Maybe try, 'Hello'."
He spent the next four years pining over you from a distance.
Now, in your senior year, you were more excited than anything to get out of this shit hole.
The cute super super senior with the loud mouth, long hair, and less than stellar reputation had always caught your eye, but you both still had yet to actually say anything to each other. Paths never crossing further than beyond the hallway.
You never bothered to make a move on him.
You were convinced that you weren't his type, or anyone's type for that matter, especially not here.
But you're both seniors now.
Much to Eddie's surprise and delight, you now had classes together.
He never once liked being in high school for longer than necessary, but here he was, oddly thankful for being held back.
Your schedules are almost completely aligned, save for the fact that you had a couple honors classes.
For the first few days of your senior year, Eddie was a ball of anxiety every time you were around.
He sat either behind or beside you in the back of all your shared classes.
It wasn't until one fateful Tuesday, in the second week of that school year, that your pen ran out of ink, and you finally said your first words to him.
"Hey, do you have a pen I can barrow?"
You were turned around in your seat to look at him behind you. He was stuck for a few beats before he blinked away his shock.
"Uh, y-yeah. Here." He handed you the very pen he was using to doodle in his notebook instead of actually taking notes.
The small smile and the gentle brush of your fingers against his nearly made his heart stop on the spot.
He was absolutely gone.
It was in that moment that he realized he'd never properly heard your voice before.
He wanted to hear it again.
You even remembered/bothered to give him his pen back at the end of that class.
He spent every single one of his classes for the remainder of that day coming up with a full ass tactical plan to approach you.
Every day that passed, he for some fucking reason just couldn't find the right moment to put his plan in action.
It wasn't until a few weeks later when you threw his plan through a loop.
You showed up to a Hellfire meet just as they were all leaving out the drama room.
He heard your voice coming from outside once some of the freshman members walked out the door.
"Hey, Baby Bro! How'd it go? Have fun?"
Eddie eyes widened, and he stilled for a second before he dropped what he was doing to rush out the door.
He tried to play off his stumbling by leaning against the wall right outside the door.
"Oh, Hey! You're in this club too?"
"This is Eddie. He leads the club." Your little brother's curly haired friend, Dustin, clarified immediately.
Before Eddie could give Dustin a look to 'shut the fuck up before he ruined his shot', you raised your brows with somewhat of an impressed look on your face.
"Oh, so you're Eddie."
The way his name rolls off your tongue makes him want to melt into the floor.
All the false confidence he once had completely depleted, and he was back at a loss for words. Thank God you didn't leave room for him to make a fool of himself.
"The boys talk so highly of you. Thank you for looking after them for a couple hours after school. See you tomorrow!"
He watched, awestruck, as you walked away with your brother and his friends.
"Y-Yeah, no problem!" He'd finally yell after you a you made it to the exit doors.
You turned to wave bye before fully exiting the building to the mostly vacant parking lot.
Eddie waved back weakly.
"See you tomorrow." He says to himself in the empty hallway, still waving even after you couldn't see him anymore.
A cheesy grin would grow on his face as he went back into the drama room to collect his DM stuff.
"Holy shit. You actually exchanged words!" Jeff would say.
"~See you tomorrow~" Gareth mocks, clasping his hands together, resting them on his cheek and batting his eyelashes.
Eddie glares at the younger drummer. "Shut up, asshole."
Early October is when he finally leaned forward to ask you a question.
"Hey, I don't really understand what's going on. Could you help me?"
There it was.
You accepted, falling right into his hands.
His plan was now officially in motion.
You were smart and nice. Of course, you would help tutor him.
Eddie knew that would work.
You were well aware of his academic status, or rather lack thereof.
You couldn't help but let that little 'I can fix him' part of your teenage brain take over.
You really wanted to help him pass and graduate, ESPECIALLY since he reached out to you for help.
You couldn't say no. wtf
You two had spent all of October studying together.
Even though he was distracted by you most of the time and always going off topic to get to know you, he actually was kind of learning something.
A win-win for him.
"Hey, so, uh, you know, Halloween is right around the corner, and, uh, there's a special rescreening of 'Alien' this weekend. Would you, uh, you know, if you're into it, would you like to go see- watch it, like, with me, I mean?"
The question came at the end of your recent study/tutoring session.
Over the last few weeks, you had shown nothing but kindness towards Eddie. You two even had conversations with one another out in the open, outside of the safe privacy of the library.
He finally had the courage to ask you out.
You hesitated.
"Oh, uh..."
Your apprehension was not for the reason he was thinking, but it was enough for his mind to start caving in on itself.
"I mean, I just want to show you my appreciation, you know, for all your help. There's no- no pressure at all. I get it if you don't wanna be seen with me too much. I won't blame you."
His response takes you aback.
"Hold on. That's not what I was trying to get across at all."
Your firm tone made his chest tighten with anxiety. If that wasn't it, what was it? Did you have plans already? Maybe with a boyfriend? Shit, why didn't Eddie make sure to get your current relationship status out of you before asking.
"It's just that, uh, I'm kind of a... wuss... with scary movies. The sci-fi part of it seems intriguing enough, but I heard that it was pretty scary... The Boys snuck the VHS during one of their movie nights a couple years ago. I just remember Lucas being on edge for weeks after watching it." You chuckled nervously.
Eddie chuckles, relieved by your answer.
"Don't worry about it. I'll be there to protect you from all the monsters." The use of his DM voice at the end goes straight to the pit of your stomach like hot coals.
You hold back a girlish giggle, not wanting to show how much that effected you.
"Okay, fine, but if I fail our test due to a lack of sleep, I'm blaming you."
After you agree to go on a date with him, he fully unleashes his inner flirt.
His surprising change in attitude towards you makes butterflies erupt within you.
His overt flirting brings out your sassy side as you two go back and forth.
That movie-dinner date was the first of many.
Eddie wasn't huge on physical PDA.
He was always super respectful and reserved in public, but he almost always made a show of you.
"There she is! The most beautiful woman to ever exist!"
"Look at her. A goddess among us mortals!"
"Here she comes! Make way for the queen!"
You eventually got used to his over the top antics, going from telling his to "shut up" with a shy grin to just embracing your new 'royalty status' with your head held high and a bright smile.
You'd been dating for months.
Your tutoring actually helped raise Eddie's grades, especially after you told him how much you wanted him to graduate with you this year.
Come spring, Lucas is now unsuccessfully splitting his time between Hellfire and basketball.
When Dustin and Mike bring in the third Sinclair into the drama room, Eddie can't help but cave quickly once she shows off her dnd knowledge.
Erica definitely gets her sass from you, though she's a lot more blunt with it.
Eddie can't help but form a huge soft spot for her, even after the game is over.
While Erica, Dustin, and Mike were waiting in your car to leave, Eddie stopped you.
"So, you know, we've been dating for quite a while now-"
"Five months and counting." You beamed.
Eddie grinned happily. So, you were keeping count.
"Yeah, soon enough it'll be six, then seven, then ten, then 12, then-"
"OK, OK" you giggled. Eddie's smile only got bigger.
"So, I was wondering..." That shy boy who could barely ask you on a first date returns, bringing a soft grin to your face. "Do you... Would do... I... Will you be my... my girlfriend?"
"Of course." You smiled without missing a beat.
"Really?!"
As the news sunk deeper and deeper, it became harder and harder for him to physically contain his excitement.
He jumped up and down, grabbing you by the shoulders to pull you into a hug, bouncing up and down with you in his arms.
Your shared laughter filled the empty parking lot of Hawkins High.
From that moment on, the word 'girlfriend' was used in place of your own name for months.
"I'm convinced you've forgotten my name."
"I could never forget such a thing, girlfriend~"
He introduced you to metal music.
You introduced him to leave in conditioner.

[English Subs DL] Banana Fish Stage Play Part 1 & Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello, friends~! I come to you this time with English subs for the Banana Fish stage plays~! Thank you to @emerald-trashart for requesting me to do both plays! I had such a blast working on it even though it got a bit overwhelming and heavy at times (because Banana Fish (╥_╥))
The stage play is just so amazing, and beautifully made...! I went into this not knowing what to expect, and I came out of it just mesmerized. If you're familiar with Banana Fish, of course it will be as heavy as its source material, but I think that you would enjoy it! The production did a really great job respecting and staying true to the events of its source, and I think long-time fans would love it ^^
The actors, too...! They were so great at their roles, and gosh the emotions and intensity they portrayed were really convincing. Mizue Kenta and Okamiya Kurumu were so perfect as Ash and Eiji, and their chemistry was just beautiful T^T>
Alright, enough rambling! I'll let the stage play speak for itself! ( ̄▽ ̄)
For those who are interested in getting the Blu-rays for themselves, I’ll provide links below~ BD Purchase Links: (From Animate JP) BANANA FISH PART 1 | BANANA FISH PART 2 * Purchase links would require proxy since the BDs are sold-out on CDJapan and were requested through proxy either way. I couldn't find them on Animate International either ^^;
Notes, disclaimers, trigger warnings, and link under the cut, enjoy~! (Long post ahead ^^;)
NOTES:
※ THE FILE IS SUBTITLES ONLY, VIDEO IS NOT INCLUDED!
TRIGGER WARNINGS:
Heavy mentions/depictions of drugs/drug abuse, sexual abuse (rape, pedophilia, child prostitution/pornography, among others), mental disorders/illnesses, gun violence, racism, general gang violence, suicide, death.
Above themes are rampant in both stages, so please watch with caution. If you start feeling uncomfortable or anxious, please take a step back and stop watching until you feel better.
For those who want to start watching the anime after getting into it from the stage play, please refer to these guides for trigger warnings: Twitter | IMDb
MISC. NOTES:
From what I remember, the stage play follows the manga more than the anime (since the anime changed some stuff). So if something from the stage was not in the anime, you can check the manga for them ^^
RULES:
[MOST IMPORTANT] Please DO NOT re-post the subs and the link outside of Tumblr! If you want to share outside, please, please DM me about it and link my blog to your post. That’s all I ask.
Please DO NOT remove my credits.
Please DO NOT re-translate without permission.
SUBS DL LINK: PART 1 | PART 2
※ Please only DM me if there is a problem with the subtitles. I cannot help you if it’s related to the videos. ※ If you enjoyed my work, please consider buying me a coffee here, if you can. It’ll really help me out a lot.(o^▽^o) Thank you!!

genuine question coming from a place of good faith: is it wrong of me to be scared for transmascs right now? the harassment of transfems by both radfems and now even tumblr staff is fucking horrendous, but im terrified that due to so much recent discourse, people are going to blame transmascs for it and hate us even more than they already do.
i genuinely do care about transfems and it’s utterly ghoulish what’s going on right now, and it needs to stop, but I can’t help but get this awful sinking feeling over how it could affect transmascs by proxy — but I’m not sure if that’s wrong of me? is it wrong to worry about, should I be focusing entirely on transfems right now? is it transmisogynistic of me to be concerned about both of these things instead of just the one? I don’t know if what I’m feeling is wrong and it’s stressing me out so badly :(
I don't think it's ever wrong to be concerned about multiple real problems at once.
I have stayed pretty quiet on this situation, mostly just adding stuff to my queue if I agree with it but not weighing in personally. Mainly the reason is that I genuinely don't know anything about the trans woman in question who all of this fuss is for. But, I have seen other trans blogs get nuked for seemingly flimsy reasons, and I have seen self-professed terfs and radfems crowing victory with the latest victims of their mass-reporting.
And I think this is a bit of a PR nightmare, but I also think this site does have a serious harassment problem the staff does not take nearly seriously enough while it also seems to punish in equal amounts blogs that get harassed AND blogs that were literally just minding their own business, with really the main similarities being that they are blogs owned by people belonging to seriously marginalized and at-risk demographics talking about controversial topics like racism and LGBT politics.
It is really quite frustrating that there are now accusations that trans mascs talking about their own oppression are behind this, when not only is there no proof behind the claim but also even without a lot of direct knowledge I am seeing a certain demographic cheering that their mass reports worked and I gotta say, that demographic largely isn't trans mascs.
I also think there is a lot of hypocrisy floating around, because some of these blogs I'm seeing mad about this latest streak of bans are also people who themselves have advocated for harassing others and mass-reporting others who simply fail the vibe check while just existing as themselves, off this website. And while those users don't have the power of the literal CEO, they're failing to see how they've contributed to the problem of this website's user culture of "send the most vile thing you can think of en mass until they break and leave and good riddance".
I say this as someone who also has been harassed by a band of people wanting to chase me off of this website. It is why I don't interact much with dogblr anymore. I have had several people who joined in that dog pile later approach me and apologize, but the damage is still done and I am not interested in engaging with a "community" so willing to tear someone apart on flimsy accusations that weren't even true. I almost killed myself that night, I had a mental break and turned off my blog completely for several days just to make it stop, and returned to see people similarly crowing with delight that they'd successfully run me off. It's happened to me, and the perpetrators were almost entirely white cisgender women, and I have been very reliably told by multiple other people that both my blackness and my transgender status were significant motivators in their poor behavior.
This also happening in the wake of yet another transgender teen killed by their peers has left me simply mentally and physically exhausted. I began involving myself more in the transgender community on here because I wanted this to stop. I wanted to help uplift my siblings and get them out of the pit before the whole thing caved in. It's feeling very hopeless right now for trans kids around the world and in the mean time it's also apparently my fault a trans woman I don't even know got banned I guess..
In any case. Hold your head up. We'll get through this, somehow. We always have. We always will.
