Random Thought Before Bed: My Halloween 2023 Playlist

Recently, I’ve been getting into the Halloween spirit by listening to a bunch of music from horror video games; figured I’d share a handful of my (admittedly rather vanilla) favorite tracks.

(Yes, most of these examples are from Bloodborne. What can I say? I really dig that soundtrack.)

“Hail the Nightmare” (Bloodborne OST) – Just a deliciously creepy hymn to a Lovecraftian abomination.

“Gehrman, The First Hunter” (Bloodborne OST) – A theme worthy of one of Universal’s sympathetic monsters: chillingly mournful with an undercurrent of tragedy, culminating in a crescendo that evokes Gothic romance.

“Father Gascoigne, The Hunter” (Bloodborne OST) – Aggressive horns and strings suggest that the listener is being relentlessly pursued by a hungry predator; the intensity of the hunt only increases following the transition into the second phase.

“Don’t Cry, Jennifer” (Clock Tower OST) – Lo-fi synth beats (with a hint of funk?) reminiscent of Goblin’s giallo scores; gloriously excessive chase music.

“Battle Theme” (Sweet Home OST) – An 8-bit rendition of a panicked sprint through a haunted house; sounds like what the vengeful ghost of Super Mario might play on his pipe organ.

Hm, I have that one art request from @lunarreaper12 still. I should get to that soon. Motivation is coming back, too, so yay! Just depends on if I spend most of my free time playing the new Star Wars game. Been playing it in all of my spare time for the last couple weeks because I want to finish the game while avoiding spoilers. The game is so freaking big tho, and I'm having so much fun exploring the environments. I'm at least more than halfway through the game.

Controversial take but I've been thinking about Generation Loss and I don't think the live or die vote options really truly mattered in the end. We already know Showfall reanimates their puppets and to me the truest tragedy is that we gave him what he wanted by killing him so he wouldn't have to play the game over ans over, but... there's no reason to believe he can't be brought back to do it all again regardless.

The desperate call for it to end could have been just as futile as choosing the "live" option but at least for a moment he got what he asked for and got to make his own choice. Tragedy of the Hero.

Miguel claims he's not the jealous type, but whenever he see's/notices another spider person casually walking up to you and just openly flirts with you-- he always calls for you to meet him in his office (his platform lol). Doesn't matter where you were. If you were getting hit on, you were being consistently called/summoned upon by Miguel.

Peter notices this after some time and just laughs at how adorable it was. Doesn't really say anything because he already knows Miguel would just immediately deny all accusations and insinuations about him being "jealous".

I woke up this morning with a random thought in my mind.

In S3 I want a Wilmon intimate scene in Wille's room, in Wille's bed, but with the boys positioned with their heads towards the window (I'm going to elaborate, give me a minute).

We know that Wilhelm sleeps with his head on the window's side. But each time he is with Simon, both in S1 and S2, they lie in bed in the opposite way (their heads towards the door of the room). In S1 I thought it was just for logistic/cinematic purposes: August wouldn't be able to see and film Simon's face if they were lying on the regular side: from outside the window he would only see their feet. In order to shoot that scene they needed to lie the other way round. But then they repeated this in S2 and it started to feel like a pattern.

I remember some analysis posts where a symbolic/metaphorical meaning was suggested. Something about them breaking the rules. In pursuing a queer relationship Wille does the exact opposite of what is expected from him, of what his role would impose him to do. Just by being in love with a guy and acting on his feelings, he defies the whole system on which monarchy and tradition are based. The two boys being positioned in a reversed way, then, could be the visual representation of their actual circumstances.

We don't know for sure if this was the authors' intention or it's just us, the fandom, reading too much into it, but I loved this interpretation and sticked to it. Given the level of attention to details in yr, however, chances are that the choice was intentional.

In that perspective, in S3 I would really like Wilmon to be intimate and happy together lying in the 'regular' position, as a metaphorical statement about their relationship being equal to and having the same validity and dignity as any other (and by 'other' I mean straight), as well as the representation that something has shifted in their dynamics (as it actually has, with them now being together and out).

That said, I will gladly take any intimacy scene they give me, in whatever context, place, and position. Just let them be happy and carefree for a split moment!

Random Thought Before Bed: My Informal Pitch for an A24 Drama

Paul Schrader plays an aging alcoholic slowly drinking himself to death as penance for his former racism, so feeble that he can barely lift a glass of beer anymore.

Pete Davidson is a shiftless barfly who figures that Schrader is an easy mark to bum some free drinks off of.

Their relationship will change both of their lives forever.
