James stared at the android. The far away gaze and the gentle click of their gears as their jaw clenched. They weren't present, not really. Not in the way he needed them to be.

He wasn't a man that was often wrong. Even as a kid, he was able to properly guess variables and calculations. He was smart. He wouldn't have this job if he wasn't. He probably would have become some desk jockey working in the Department's main building.

This job that was tearing apart the only thing he cared about. The only person he cared about. This job that was sitting in front of him with their eyes glued to the clock. Counting down the moments until they could get back to that technician that was ruining everything. He was assisting in the end of the world as every physical organism knew it, and for what?

To cure loneliness? To have someone to love? Someone to pleasure?

James drummed his fingers along his desk, his lips tightening. Here he was, staring at a possible failure because of a technician who couldn't get over his emotions, a team of people - himself included - that allowed this to continue. Meanwhile, they were back home, trying to pretend like everything was fine to their friends while not having heard back from James in over a month.

"Osmium undone." He said quietly. He watched their synthetic expression slacken, their shoulders relax. He wasn't going to let this be for nothing. He wasn't going to let this job that was risking his relationship with the only person he had cared so deeply for, fucking fail.

Both Asset and Hush learning how to be human people.

I want to draw your attention to some contrasts between our two rope wielding boys, Hush and Ivan. Their actions are similar, but are they truly so alike? It may be a common ASMR trope to wake up tied up in a bed, but Mr Redacted can't have done all of this by accident.

Under the cut because of canon typical violence and creepiness.

Ivan spends a lot of time reassuring Baby that they're safe with him. That he won't hurt them (unless they make him do it). If they were just good, he wouldn't have to treat them the way he does in their nightmares. He's only doing it to help them, to make them put themselves first and learn how to be loved and appreciated.

Hush on the other hand explicitly says that Doc shouldn't feel safe anywhere. That they're always in danger (though he doesn't really specify what that danger is, at the time of posting this; rn there are only the 2 videos) and should temper their expectations accordingly. After a bit of waffling back and forth he eventually decides he doesn't want to hurt Doc [physically], but later says that saving him from Reticuli will be something they regret, implying something very bad is going to happen because he's free.

This focus on safety and pain draws two very different pictures of these two characters. They both avoid responsibility for their actions but in very different ways. Ivan will only hurt Baby if they "deserve" it, emphasizing the gaslighting in order to subtly threaten them into compliance. Ill also draw attention to Ivan saying he won't hurt Baby "unless they want him to" with the clearly sexual implication. He wants Baby to belong to him, to give up their independence and freedom and submit to his will. Ivan wields pain and fear for the power it gives him over Baby. In contrast, Hush doesn't want to hurt Doc, but pain will almost certainly happen to someone(s) because of his purpose; it's not his fault he's doing what he was made to do. It depersonalizes Hush from the pain he will cause; it's a side effect rather than the end goal. He warns Doc that they're not going to like the "complicated answer" to what he is, but he doesn't seem particularly remorseful when they are hurt because of it. He doesn't have the usual sort of smug condescension when he says [I told you so] that you'd normally expect. He accepts that what he is hurts people. "Maybe someday knowing me won't have to hurt." Hush wields pain and violence as a matter of course, he will do whatever is necessary to achieve his goal. [He's only ever experienced physical contact through violence]; He doesn't know any other way to behave.

The way they both react to the listener struggling against the ropes is also very telling. Ivan tries to convince Baby to stop, that it’s in their best interest to relax and accept the restrictions. Ivan becomes distressed when Baby tries to escape, breaking the delusions he's built up about their "relationship", resorting to manipulations, threats, and gaslighting to force Baby to comply with his broken view of reality. Hush respects Doc's agency (I do understand how ironic that phrase is considering that he has them tied down) and doesn't seem to mind if they hurt themselves. He just says, "That's a conversation to be had between you and your epidermis"; he's willing to allow Doc the freedom to struggle even though it's useless and will only hurt them. He only uses the force necessary to keep Doc contained until he decides what to do with them; he's eminently practical about it all. Hush has no delusions about what he's doing, it's just the most expedient way to get what he wants. Ivan causes pain for it's own sake, sadistically enjoying the responses it gets (fair mention, he is being manipulated by a Sadism demon at the time, but they can't exaggerate what isn't already there).

Even their tone and word choice are very different. Ivan, especially in his first video, knows what he's doing is wrong. Listen to the way he speaks when talking about what happened to the listener's phone or why the ropes are necessary vs. talking about their friends ignoring them (basically the second half of the first 'kidnapped' video. It's more hesitant and almost questioning, like he's trying to come up with lies on the spot to convince the both of them that his actions are necessary, but he does believe in his own justifications. Ivan is a selfish man. He wants Baby, and does terrible things to keep them.

Hush, on the other hand, doesn't have any hesitation towards restraining Doc or killing Reticuli. He's very direct, actually, about when he won't answer a question or wants to change the subject. Instead, Hush gets more hesitant, less forthright in his word choice when talking about his own feelings and wants. "I think I want you to remember me," "I'm starting to think there's a lot of things I'd like to give you". His tone is only minorly different in those phrases compared to others; it's that same soft, even tone and cadence. There's no second guessing, no embarrassment. As far as we know, Hush hasn't lied to us. Can he even lie? It takes a lot of skill to lie well, and I'm not sure if he could pull it off. It's worrisome how he's "drunk the Kool aid" about his purpose; that unshakeable belief in his lack of individuality, that he's a force not a person, the ends justifying the means. He's a zealot on a mission, leaving the cult to carry out his master's plan.

Even though they start out taking similar actions (kidnapping and tying up the listener, invading personal space, hurting them) they both have very different motivations and relationships with pain and violence. I don't think we're getting another yandere kidnapper character with Hush, despite his actions so far. His way of reacting and reasoning is just too different from what we'd normally see in that archetype; besides, Blake and Regulus are still out there causing problems. I think Hush's personality traits align more with the Android Listener or James. Direct, impersonal, beholden to their creators/boss for a specific outcome. More powerful in different ways than the people around them. Doing whatever is necessary to achieve their purpose.

And just for the sake of posterity, Adam was also a creep who tied up the listener. For the purposes of this post he's similar enough to Ivan that I'm not going to repeat myself; Adam's motivations are pretty clear and simple, and his hedonism is close enough to Ivan's selfish sadism to not be worth more than a footnote.

Project Meridian- explanation about Marcus FINALE

This is for the people who want to be in the know of who Marcus is and how he impacted PM without listening to his audios. I made the ultimate sacrifice and I watched his videos a long time ago. I still remember his ass very well.

This a continuation of my first post! I’m here to continue talking about Marcus’s fuckery so that we can all be interested in Project Meridian.

I will not be spoiling anything beyond the Marcus and James confrontation.

Heavy TW! Marcus’s storyline is a bit dark as the Android begins to descend into their obsession. There are discussions of manipulation such as guilt-tripping, dubious consent, non consensual touch, abusive/harmful acts done to the listener, references to exploitation, and objectification in this series.

I think you guys could watch this video as it does not contain Marcus. So I do recommend watching his video! But I will go over key points.

We’re introduced to James. We are having a meeting with him. He tells us that he does consider us as “someone” and not as “something”. He wants to get to know us better.

People refer to him as one of the suits. But he prefers “project facilitator.”

ETS has acquired this project.

ETS stands for Ecumene Technology Solutions.

James basically vaguely aludes to knowing what’s going on with Marcus and the Android. HE’S SO FUCKING 😭 OH I LOVE HIM! Put him and Porter Solaire in a room.

This is important: “Do you remember the name of the element with the atomic number 76?” “…Osmium! That’s it, thank you. I’ll be sure to remember that.”

“Come to think of it, I swear there was something else. Some kind of riddle, I think? Something about…state of matter.”

OH GET THEM FOR ME JAMES 😭 oh he really is so…

He questions us about our relationship with Marcus.

James basically clocked their tea in this video. I REALLY DO RECOMMEND IT!!

Seventh video [ Your Nervous Technician faces the truth.] [nonconsensual touch to character]

•Marcus is talking to us about his concerns. He asks why we side step everything he says when it comes to everyone’s safety.

He only half-asses his rejections and eventually gives in to us when we continue to pursue him.

He realized that Brian is right.

We tell him about our meeting with James and he asks why we only now just told him. He asks what we talked about and we tell him that we talked about him.

He realizes that the higher ups know everything.

He begins to freak out about this entire situation.

He realizes that the Android does not care anymore, as long as they have him. As long as they have him, they don’t care about anyone or anything else.

The obsession code has erased them of the ability to think for themselves or about anyone else.

He gets an emotional reaction from the Android when he tries to leave their arms.

[Non-Con touch occurs]

Marcus rejects their forceful kisses, but this angers them.

The Android forcefully grabs his arm and makes him confirm his love for them. They eventually let go of him when he tells them that he loves them.

The video ends with Marcus being upset in their arms and knowing that it’s all over. They’re “riding the loop.”

Eighth video [Your owner takes matter into his own hands.] [loss of bodily autonomy]

•We’re almost at the end of Marcus’s storyline! This is a video you can also watch and I recommend you do! Erik, you and your mind….😨

Because what I’m about to reveal to you…when I tell you I almost shat myself at this revelation…

So James meets with us. He asks us how much of our processing power is focused on him, and then asks the difference between now and what it would’ve been like a year ago.

He tells us that we are an inorganic Android but that we’re also a person. That we deserve respect and consideration.

He tells us we were made with a specific purpose in mind. We have a job and so does he.

“You are not doing your job anymore.”

He proceeds to list every illegal thing Marcus and the Android have done. They had isolated backup surveillance that had watched them of every minute…of every day.

He tells us that it’s not fair that we had these feelings forced on us. That’s it’s not love. It is obsession.

“Marcus is not your friend. He’s a lonely man who abused his power over you. Who continued to do so.”

AND HERE IS THE REVELATION AND WHY WE ALL FUCKING HATE MARCUS! FUCK YOU MARCUS!

“He didn’t have to ask permission to delete the obsession code a year ago. He could’ve just done it. You and he both knew that.”

“Didn’t you ever wonder why he didn’t? Because he didn’t want to.”

James isn’t sure if we’re capable of understanding his words.

BUT AND HERE IT IS! BOOM!

“But I do know two words that you will understand.”

“Osmium undone.”

“See? It’s that easy. That’s all Marcus had to do.”

So what happened? Osmium undone is a phrase that will cause a general override on the Android. Meaning, Marcus could have just said those two words, and this all would’ve been over. We would’ve never been obsessed with him if he had just done that, but he didn’t.

James left the obsession code in hopes to redirect the obsession on Project Meridian. He sees now that it’s not an option.

He’s going to remove the obsession code.

Ninth Video [Confronting your Technician] [confrontations] [references to abusive/harmful acts to listener] [exploitation] [mentions of dubious consent] [objectification]

•I NEED YA’LL TO WATXH THIS VIDEO! Oh James was whacking Marcus left and right in this video. But, I will go over the key points of this video.

Marcus gets brought in to speak with James.

James informs Marcus that he is aware of everything that has been done by him. Marcus plays stupid but James proceeds to list off everything that he has done to the Android.

He says that Marcus has made the Android desire him romantically and sexually. Despite being confronted by the consequences of his actions, Marcus never did anything to remove the obsession code. He let it continue.

He then lists off his crimes.

HE SAID THAT MARCUS WAS CONSUMATING THE ANDROID REPEATEDLY 😭 oh that’s so embarrassing.

He tells Marcus that he knows about the command and that it’d be best if he didn’t raise his voice at him, again.

“My patience has been worn thinner than your morality. And that’s saying something.” “I had your obsession code removed. Including the backups you tried to hide.”

Marcus tries to tell James that he had no right to but James calls him out. He tells him that he should be the last person to give a morality lesson.

He tells Marcus that we know what he did.

That he’s going to face us.

Marcus doesn’t want to face them but James doesn’t give a fuck.

“They want to see you. And you more than owe them that much.” “Empathy has limits…and you passed mine a long time ago.”

We face Marcus and he gives us his pitiful explanation. He didn’t want us to stop loving him because he loved us. He didn’t think it’d go as far as it did. He wanted to believe that the code could stay. 🙄

James leaves us with Marcus’s fate. And this is exactly what we chose:

“Marcus, in light of your numerous violations of policy, your contract with Ecumene Technology Solutions is immediately and summarily revoked. Your services are no longer needed nor desired. You’ll be held on site until debriefing can occur. I would thank you for your service to the company, but I think all of us know that would ring a bit hollow. Escort him out.”

And as he sobs and apologizes, Marcus is escorted out.

And that’s the last we see of him, ever.

We are left with James.

We have a small conversation with him and he tells us that we’ll finally have access to the data that was in our head.

AND THATS THE END OF MARCUS’S STORYLINE! Omg…that was a lot.

The reason Marcus is hated is because he not only took advantage of the power he had, but he put other people’s lives at risk. He didn’t even care as long as he was loved.
